Pray for Kirk Johnson's  Mom
Feeling discouraged today.

I just got a call last night from my brother about my Mom. Right now she is facing having to pay for a prescription the doctor has prescribed that costs $1000 a month. Medicare will cover $350, but that still leaves her to cough up $650 a month. 

She's a widow on a fixed income.

My brother has talked to her pastor, and he told him that he's had several members with cancer, and they have had to clean out their life savings in order to take medication simply to stay alive.

Mom apparently is so disgusted with these enormous costs that she is talking about just checking into a hospice and forgetting about treatment altogether.

She shouldn't have to be faced with that kind of choice...

Here is another from Kirk Johnson Update on my Mom:

Well, when it rains, it pours. Mom was taken to Viera hospital last night for a badly swollen leg. Apparently her leg has blog clots and they have kept her for treatment and observation.

Of course this will post pone her appointment with the surgeon to talk about removing the tumor.

Sorry, I feel like a real burden here. But this is all happening at once...
I just got word from my brother that they have moved her to Holmes Regional now to do a procedure that is more invasive, but is designed to aggressively break up the clots. She will have that done tomorrow morning. Thanks again everyone!
