A major new initiative called Stop Operation Soros (SOS), a movement dedicated to stopping the evil machinations of Nazi collaborator billionaire George Soros, has taken off in Macedonia.

The SOS founders called on citizens around the world to “fight against one-mindedness in the civil sector, which is devised and led by George Soros.” The movement has been set up to expose the ‘subversive activities of all of George Soros’s organizations. Hungary has also taken to steps to clamp down on Soros funded organizations by banning them from the country.

A new initiative, Stop Operation Soros (SOS), dedicated to countering the influence of American billionaire activist George Soros, has been launched in Macedonia.

In a press conference on Tuesday, the founders of the group called on all “free-minded citizens,” regardless of ethnicity or religion, to join them in the “fight against one-mindedness in the civil sector, which is devised and led by George Soros,” the Vecer newspaper reported. The movement says it will first focus on uncovering ‘subversive’ activities by Soros-funded NGOs.

According to Nikola Srbov, a columnist for pro-government news portal Kurir and co-founder of SOS, Soros-funded NGOs have monopolized civil society in Macedonia and used their position to suppress dissenting views.

“We’ve witnessed the takeover of the entire civil sector and its abuse and instrumentalization to meet the goals of one political party. That is unacceptable and goes beyond the principles of civic organizing,” Srbov said at the press conference.

“The Open Society Foundation, operating under the Soros umbrella, used its funding and personnel to support violent processes in Macedonia. It has monopolized the civil society sector, pushing outside any organization which disagrees with the Soros ideology,” he stated.

Another co-founder, Cvetin Cilimanov, editor-in-chief of the state-run MIA news agency, accused Soros’s Open Society Foundations of undermining Macedonian sovereignty by working not only with the opposition center-left SDSM party, but also with outside interests. By cooperating with foreign embassies and organizations such as USAID, Cilimanov believes Soros-backed groups have interfered in the political process of Macedonia.

“This is unacceptable and has largely contributed to a feeling in the public that the traditional relations of partnership Macedonia enjoyed with some countries are being undermined,” Cilimanov told journalists.

A third founder of the initiative and editor-in-chief of the Republika news portal, Nenad Mircevski, declared that the group would work towards the “de-Soros-ization” of Macedonia, echoing a speech made by former prime minister and leader of the ruling VMRO-DPMNE party Nikola Gruevski in December. In the speech, Gruevski accused foreign powers and Soros-backed organizations of meddling in Macedonian politics.

Opposition figures have expressed concern at the rhetoric used by Gruevski, fearing the start of a crackdown on dissent and advocacy groups.

The Open Society Foundation (OSF) was set up by Hungarian-born Soros between the mid-1980s to early 1990s with the stated aim of helping former Eastern bloc countries transition from communism. However, aside from its support for progressive causes such as drug policy reform, the OSF has also been involved in political activities and Soros publically supported the violent overthrow of the legitimately-elected government in Ukraine during the ‘Euromaidan’ revolution. This has earned him the ire of Russian authorities, which in 2015 banned Soros and his foundations as a threat to national security.

Soros and his foundations have come under scrutiny elsewhere as well. In an interview with the internet portal 888.hu in December, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that 2017 would bring about “the extrusion of George Soros and the forces symbolized by him.” Orban has accused Soros of undermining European borders and values by helping facilitate the flow of refugees and asylum seekers from the Middle East and elsewhere. During a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything), WikiLeaks’ Julian Assange also blasted the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project, funded by Soros, for focusing “exclusively on negative stories about Russia and former Soviet states.”

This is the poison fruit of leftwing/communist activism in America going back to the 1960s. In 1967, the German student movement leader Rudi Dutschke reformulated communist thinker Antonio Gramsci’s philosophy of cultural hegemony, saying that changing the West, subjugating freedom, required a long march through the society’s institutions — media, academia, and the pulpit. It worked in remaking American society into something unrecognizable to until now. Their crowning achievement was uber-left activist Barack Hussein Obama. They will not retreat quietly.

This is indicative of a deep-rooted problem, which is not just restricted to America. Radical action is required — the teachers of these scum should be purged.

On his first day in office, President Trump brought back a bust of the legendary British prime minister to the West Wing, after President Obama had removed it. Mr. Obama replaced it with a bust of Martin Luther King Jr.

Reporters who were summoned to the Oval Office Friday night to witness Mr. Trump signing an executive order noticed the Churchill bust had been returned to the Oval Office.

British Foreign Minister Boris Johnson had speculated that Mr. Obama removed Churchill’s bust in part because he is “part-Kenyan,” and was motivated by anti-colonial feelings. Mr. Obama refuted that, saying he had moved the bust to a place of prominence in his private office in the White House residence.

“I love Winston Churchill, I love the guy,” Mr. Obama said.

Mr. Trump did more redecorating, replacing Mr. Obama’s crimson drapes in the Oval Office with gold ones. He also added a bust of Teddy Roosevelt on one of the bookshelves, and swapped out some of Mr. Obama’s artwork in the presidential office.

President Obama, in his final days of office, announced through his State Department he’s sending a quick cool $500 million to the United Nations for its climate fund, a global coffer that’s been criticized by watchdogs and congressional members as little more than a slush pile for international political deal-making.

President Obama spent a quick $500 million of taxpayer dollars on U.N. climate change matters, over the objections of members of Congress who say the global body’s fund is little more than a slush pile for political panderings.
Obama’s last-minute rush to disburse the money comes just a few days before Donald Trump is due for his swearing-in ceremony. The president-elect has vowed to “cancel billions in global warming payments to the United Nations” and send the money instead to “environmental infrastructure” in America, CNS News reported.

As Patrick Goodenough with CNS reported:

“The $500 million is the second transfer to the Green Climate Fund, whose aim is to help developing countries reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and adapt to occurrences blamed on climate change such as rising sea-levels and drought.

“President Obama pledged $3 billion to the GCF over four years, and a first instalment, also $500 million, was paid last March.

“Critics in Congress at the time charged that the disbursement was a waste of taxpayers’ money, and pointed out that Congress had not authorized or appropriated any funding for the GCF.

“Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), who has led the criticism, on Tuesday called the latest payment ‘an insult to American taxpayers.’

“‘The hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars the Obama administration spent on the United Nations Green Climate Fund were never approved by Congress,’ he said.

“‘The Obama administration is now sending this slush fund another $500 million in its final days in the White House,’ Barrasso added. ‘This is a complete disregard for the will of the voters and an insult to American taxpayers.'”
As the BBC reported, Trump could put a stop to the funding. And Secretary of State John Kerry sent out a statement about the timing of the payment, assuring there was nothing untoward intended.

“It’s not being done to try to provoke a reaction from the incoming administration or to try to dictate to them one way or the other how they are going to deal with climate issues,” Kerry said, BBC reported. “This is an investment that had been long planned.”

President Obama, in what’s very likely his last televised interview on “60 Minutes” on CBS News, denied any sort of U.S.-Israeli breakdown in warm relations under his administration – but then slammed the Jewish state for what he described as tossing away any chance for peace with the Palestinian people.
President Obama in one of his final television interviews turned critical eyes toward Israel and faulted the Jewish state for settlement building.
Specifically, Obama said Israel’s settlements have “gotten so substantial” that they are preventing any chance to forge an “effective, contiguous Palestinian state,” he said.

The Daily Mail has the story:

“Speaking to CBS’ 60 Minutes, Obama dismissed the idea that there is a ‘major rupture’ in the relationship between the United States and Israel after last month’s decision by the U.S. to abstain from a United Nations vote condemning Israeli settlements.

“‘Because of our investment in the region, and because we care so deeply about Israel, I think (the U.S.) has a legitimate interest in saying to a friend, ‘This is a problem,’ Obama said.

“‘It would have long-term consequences for peace and security in the region, and the United States.'”
Israel’s settlements are on land captured after the Six-Day War in 1967 with Egypt, Jordan and Syria and the armies of Lebanon.

The United Nations, pressed by Palestinians and governments unfriendly to Israel, has since maintained a political view the Jewish state does not rightly belong on the property.

“Most countries view the settlements as an obstacle to peace. Israel disagrees, citing a biblical, historical and political connection to the land, as well as security interests. Washington considers the settlement activity illegitimate.

“The Obama administration clashed with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government in late December after the US broke with a longstanding approach of diplomatically shielding Israel.

“The US abstained on a UN Security Council resolution that declared Israeli settlements in the West Bank criminal in nature. It passed with 14 countries in favor and none against.

“In response, Netanyahu accused the Obama administration of not just abandoning its customary U.N veto, but authoring the resolution.”
Donald Trump, meanwhile, has taken a decided stance in favor of Israel. He’s tweeted support for the Jewish state, telling Israelites to “stay strong” and reminding January 20 and his rise to the White House “is fast approaching” and reminding Obama’s on his way out.

The Post’s Jan. 9 “Fast Take” on “How Trump Can Undo Kerry’s Jerusalem Damage”
is right on the money. Eugene Kontorovich lists five ways of negating Security Council
Resolution 2334, which condemns Israel for just about everything – and Kerry’s speech
which labels Israel the great “occupier.” In order to erase these blights, the Trump
administration should follow through on its promises regarding Israel.

First and foremost is the recognition that Israel is not “occupying” its own land, that the
communities in Judea and Samaria are legal. The Edmond Levy report is just one legal
paper with those findings. The ongoing effort in Israel today is to apply sovereignty to
all of Israel so as to put an end to claims of illegal “occupation.”

Despite Kerry’s warning that moving the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem would inflame the
Middle East, giving tacit encouragement to Israel’s enemies, the U.S. embassy should
certainly join those of Costa Rica and El Salvador in Israel’s capital city. As Kontorovich
suggests, in addition it should be moved to “a few hundred meters over the imaginary
line across which the UN says Jews may not go,” thereby straddling eastern and western
Jerusalem and tacitly proclaiming that the city is undivided and will remain that way.

Kontorovich makes other excellent suggestions, all of which strengthen Israel and invalidate
much of the UN’s venom. My suggestion is that the U.S. remove all funding from the U.N.
and encourage it to leave NYC. It would be great to have that beautiful waterfront property
returned to New Yorkers.

Britain’s intelligence agents are hunting a Syrian scientist who came to the country under the guise of being a refugee but who is now believed to be plotting a chemical attack on a seaside town.

From the UK Daily Mail:
“Counter-terrorism police raided a migrant centre in Berlin the day after the Christmas market truck massacre and are said to have recovered documents detailing the planned attack.

“They allegedly contained detailed of various chemical agents and included the name of two English towns.

“The suspect, said to be in his early 30s, has gone off the radar and it is feared he could be in the UK, according to the Sunday Express.”
Investigators apparently discovered documents during a Tempelhof airport raid that were so serious MI5 were called to the scene.

Tempelhof has been closed to house refugees and serve as the city’s largest camp.

The Muslim group that is suing the German government is a jihadi organization inciting to holy war. A couple of weeks ago German authorities launched a counter-terror operation against this Islamic group. Their members were recruiting young Muslims to the Islamic State. Last month, police swooped on around 200 apartments, offices, mosques and a warehouse – where they seized numerous pieces of evidence.

As is their wont, this jihadi group, “True Religion,” registered as a social work entity, zakat (charity), typical of Islamic deceit (see Holy Land Foundation). The work of this “charity” was distributing the Quran in pedestrianized areas and public squares across the country, “bridging the gap between the West and Islam.”

“The organization brings Islamic jihadists together under the pretext of the harmless distribution of the Quran,” German Interior Minister Thomas de Maizière told reporters in Berlin. He added that the ban had “nothing to do with the alleged freedom of religion.”

Now they are suing the German government. Litigation jihad. We know it well. And we know how liberal judges rule.

Especially when policy is incoherent: “Handing out the Koran is not banned, since it’s like handing out the bible, but misusing this practice to propagate Islamism is banned.”

THE HEAD of a German organisation has lashed out against a ban prohibiting members from distributing copies of the Koran after authorities accused it of recruiting jihadists to fight with Islamic State (ISIS).

Set up by Palestinian-preacher Ibrahim Abou Nagie, the organisation advocates a return to the “true Islam” and members have been recorded publicly denouncing democracy as the enemy to Islamic values.
But four weeks ago, the group was banned by German interior minister Thomas de Maiziere after he accused the organisation of radicalising young members .

The Daily Caller reported Thursday that “the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) considers the Orlando nightclub shooting, an ISIS-inspired attack that left 49 dead, a right-wing plot, along with the shootings of police officers by anti-white terrorists.”

The SPLC’s list, “Terror from the Right,” claims to be “a synopsis of radical-right terrorist plots, conspiracies and racist rampages,” but it includes Islamic jihadist Omar Mateen’s massacre at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando.

As Mateen was doing his killing, he paused several times to call 911. Among his statements as he was murdering 49 people: “I pledge my allegiance to [unidentifiable name] on behalf of the Islamic State…Call me Mujahideen…my name is Islamic soldier.”

As far as the Southern Poverty Law Center is concerned, that’s “Terror from the Right.” Remember that the next time you hear someone say that attacks from “right-wing extremists” are more common than attacks from Islamic jihadists.

What’s ironic is that it was the Orlando jihad massacre that exploded the common lie (which still circulates) that “right-wing extremists” are responsible for more murders in the United States than Islamic jihadists. Georgetown University professor Engy Abdelkader recently appeared on Tucker Carlson’s Fox show and made the outlandish claim that the FBI had said that “white supremacist groups” were more of a terror threat than Islamic jihadists.

The FBI made no such claim; in reality, it originated with far-Left pressure groups. Back in June 2015, the George Soros-funded New America Foundation published a study that garnered enthusiastic international publicity, as it purported to demonstrate that “right-wing extremists” and “white supremacists” were a larger threat to the U.S. than Islamic jihadis.

The mainstream media was thrilled. Mediaite crowed: “White Americans Are Biggest Terror Threat in U.S.” The New York Times exulted: “Homegrown Extremists Tied to Deadlier Toll Than Jihadists in U.S. Since 9/11.” The Huffington Post cheered: “White Supremacists More Dangerous To America Than Foreign Terrorists, Study Says.” NPR rejoiced: “Right-Wing Extremists More Dangerous Than Islamic Terrorists In U.S.” TruthDig was thrilled: “White Right-Wing Terrorists Are Biggest Threat to Americans, Study Finds.” And on and on.

The media delight stemmed from the fact that the study confirmed its biases and relentless endeavor to downplay and deny the jihad threat. Thus the New York Times and NPR and the rest were not in the least interested in the fact that the New America Foundation study was obviously skewed, as it was based on the number of those killed by jihadis and by right-wing extremists since September 12, 2001, leaving out 9/11. The study also ignored the many, many foiled jihad plots, and the fact that jihadis are part of an international movement that has killed many thousands of people, while right-wingers and white supremacists are not. It stated that right-wing extremists had killed 48 people from September 12, 2001 to June 2015, while Islamic jihadists had killed only 26 people in the U.S. in that span. If 9/11 had been added, the tally would have been 3,032 killed by Islamic jihadists and 48 by purported right-wing extremists.

But all right, let’s play by the New America Foundation’s rules.

President Obama tipped his delusionary hat during a speech in Tampa, Florida, this week, telling the assembled crowd that Islam ought not to be slandered as a religion that fosters terrorism, and in fact, it’s America’s failures to recognize “good patriotic Muslims” that’s fueling violence.

Some in the saner world of thinking might say tying the two together is calling a spade a spade, as based on historical evidence.

Muslim “refugee” and Ohio State University student Abdul Razak Ali Artan last week set off a fire alarm on campus, the drove his car into the crowd of students evacuating the building. Then he jumped out of his car and began stabbing people with a butcher knife. This latest jihad attack on American soil vindicates President-elect Trump on Muslim immigration.

After the attack, Trump tweeted: “ISIS is taking credit for the terrible stabbing attack at Ohio State University by a Somali refugee who should not have been in our country.” Indeed, not only should Artan not have been in the country, but if the proposals that Trump has advanced regarding Muslim immigration had been in place, he would not have been, and the attack at Ohio State University would never have happened.

Trump has called for a temporary moratorium on immigration from countries that are hotbeds of jihad terror activity. KARE11.com reported that “Artan was a Somali refugee and Ohio State student who left his homeland with his family in 2007. They lived in Pakistan before coming to the U.S., where Artan became a permanent resident in 2014.”

Somalia and Pakistan: two epicenters of the global jihad. If Trump had been President and his ban had been in place, Abdul Razak Ali Artan would never have entered the United States at all.

This sensible approach to Muslim immigration is long overdue. Back in 2008, I wrote this in my book Stealth Jihad, among my proposals for how the jihad, both violent and stealthy, could be stymied in the United States:

End Muslim immigration to the United States. This is a simple matter of national security. Immigration policy must work toward the integration of all immigrants, and the all-encompassing societal program of sharia makes the integration of pious Muslims ultimately impossible. While there are undoubtedly millions of Muslims who have no interest in jihad either by violence or stealth, no Islamic authorities anywhere in the world have declared heretical or in any way unacceptable the idea that non-Muslims must be fought against by various means and subjugated under the rule of Islamic law. Unless and until that begins to happen, no one can be sure of the sentiments of any individual believer. Consequently, simply to protect ourselves, there should be an end to Muslim immigration, combined with a clear notice to Muslims in the United States that any action on behalf of sharia supremacism is unacceptable.

But ending Muslim immigration to America must be considered a long-term goal, since such a measure is impossible in today’s political climate. The proposal would inevitably be denounced as “racist,” despite the fact that jihadist supremacism is not a race. But at the very least, immigration officials should immediately adopt a program to screen Muslims entering the United States for jihadist sentiments. This will provide grounds for deportation if an entrant renounces some aspect of sharia supremacism on his immigration application and then works for it once in the country.
At the time, this proposal was greeted with derision, or worse. Even in FrontPage Magazine, which is singular in recognizing the nature and magnitude of the jihad threat, then-managing editor Ben Johnson wrote: “Analyzing the problem is one thing; solving it is another. Spencer’s prescriptions on what to do will rankle some and lead to his further character assassination. He is at his best when calling for the government to impose existing laws – and most gets to the point when he calls for a revival of patriotism, the self-assurance necessary to deny Islamic encroachment, white liberal guilt, and multiculturalist recriminations of the greatest nation in the history of the world. He is at his most questionable in calling on the government to ‘End Muslim immigration into the United States.’”

Trump has changed all that, to the extent that now, even the tired, pusillanimous, cowardly “conservative” establishment, late to the party as always, as always leading from behind, is catching up. Back in January 2016, National Review denounced Trump for, among other things, his suggestion that there should be a temporary moratorium on Muslim immigration: “Not since George Wallace has there been a presidential candidate who made racial and religious scapegoating so central to his campaign. Trump launched his campaign talking about Mexican rapists and has gone on to rant about mass deportation, bans on Muslim immigration, shutting down mosques, and building a wall around America. America is an exceptional nation in large part because we’ve aspired to rise above such prejudices and guarantee life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness to everyone.”

But after the OSU jihad attack, National Review published an article entitled “It’s Time for Honest Talk about Muslim Immigrationm,” saying: “Some immigrants from jihad zones will be involved in murdering Americans. Is this an acceptable price for compassion?”

That was always the concern. The time for National Review’s previous tardy and pallid me-tooism is long past. Abdul Razak Ali Artan proved that. How many more of them must there be before sane immigration policies are implemented?

The White Helmets is a faux NGO that is in reality a propaganda arm of the al Nusra Front. Although the White Helmets are presented as a humanitarian organization, there is massive evidence of them collaborating with al Nusra. The White Helmets have been discussed on The Geller Report here, but they have also been exposed by Global Research, Counter Punch, and Vanessa Beeley.


That’s right, the very same people who blubber about the Palestinians, and “institutionalized racism” in America, hate the White Helmets. That’s how bad they are.

And how bad is the Nusra Front? Nusra was among the “rebels” who hid in the Palestinian refugee camp in Syria. The Syrian government surrounded the camp in Yarmouk in response. The Nusra Front choose to continue hiding in the camp, and let the Palestinians starve to death as a result.

WASHINGTON — President-elect Donald J. Trump spoke by telephone with Taiwan’s president on Friday, a striking break with nearly four decades of diplomatic practice that could precipitate a major rift with China even before Mr. Trump takes office.

Mr. Trump’s office said he spoke with the Taiwanese president, Tsai Ing-wen, “who offered her congratulations.”

He is believed to be the first president or president-elect who has spoken to a Taiwanese leader since 1979, when the United States severed diplomatic ties with Taiwan after its recognition of the People’s Republic of China.

In the statement, Mr. Trump’s office said the two leaders noted that “close economic, political, and security ties” exist between Taiwan and the United States. The statement also said Mr. Trump “congratulated President Tsai on becoming president of Taiwan earlier this year.”

The White House was not told about Mr. Trump’s call until after it happened, according to a senior administration official. The official spoke on ground rules of anonymity to discuss sensitive diplomatic relations.

But the potential fallout from the conversation was significant, the administration official said, noting that the Chinese government issued a bitter protest after the United States sold weapons to Taiwan as part of a well-established arms agreement.

Mr. Trump’s call with President Tsai is a far bigger provocation, though the Chinese government did not issue an immediate response. Beijing views Taiwan as a breakaway province and has adamantly opposed the attempts of any country to open official relations with it.

Chilling details of a Manitoba teen’s support for the terrorist group ISIS were heard in a Brandon courtroom Tuesday morning.

The teen is charged with a terrorism offence. In September, the teen pleaded guilty in Winnipeg to a charge of counselling the commission of an indictable offence for the benefit of, at the direction of or in association with a terrorist group….

A news reporter from the CBC contacted RCMP with a tip about a Twitter account indicating a teenager was planning to leave Canada to fight with ISIS.

Mahon told court the Twitter account provided was later found to belong to the youth.

Court heard the account contained messages of support for Hijrah, which involves migration to Syria or Iraq.

Court also heard the account contained a post which asked anyone who couldn’t make Hijrah to “strike from within.”

Mahon described the post in court; “It doesn’t matter how you do it, use a bomb, a knife, a gun or car hashtag ISIS.”

A search of the youth’s computer resulted in the discovery of terrorist images and propaganda.

Court heard the youth had also been in contact with a fighter from ISIS and that he had searched for the ISIS flag, ISIS video and ISIS messages on the computer….

Initially, the youth denied the Twitter account belonged to him, but later acknowledged to investigators it was his.

“He indicated he was planning to leave Canada to fight for the Islamic State,” Mahon told court. “He indicated if he was unable to travel, he would strike from within.”

“He was going to target government buildings, monuments, infrastructure such as electrical grids and federal employees.”

Mahon told court the youth indicated he conducted research to do this, and drawings and notebooks were seized by investigators….

When asked in court by the judge if he had anything to say the teen said, “I regret what I’ve done.”

“I was struggling with my identity. I’d like to apologize to my family for the stress that I’ve caused them, also to the Crown and police for using their resources and also for causing a stir in the community.”…

‘When the United States uses hard power, extremists gain a momentum,’ he said.

‘Those who will be the happiest when Trump wins are ISIS.’…

A teacher at a school in the United Arab Emirates told MailOnline when he broke the news of the result to his class, children told him they would never be able to go to America again.

He said: ‘It’s so sad. They are genuinely worried.

‘I didn’t think it would have this sort of affect.’

A senior Pakistani government official, speaking anonymously, called the news ‘absolutely atrocious and horrifying’ while others in the country also lamented the results.

‘I am disappointed to see Donald Trump winning because Hillary Clinton is a good woman, she is good for Pakistan and Muslims all over the world,’ said Ishaq Khan, 32, speaking at an Islamabad market.

‘She was talking about world peace – but Trump was talking about fighting against Muslims.’…

In Indonesia, the world’s most populous Muslim-majority country, there was growing nervousness about how the relationship with traditional ally the United States would shape up, and how a Trump presidency would affect relations between America and the Muslim world.

‘I am very concerned that the relationship between the US and Muslim countries will become tense again,’ said the female Muslim activist Diete, 47.

Nikken Suardini, who works for a law firm in the capital Jakarta, was concerned about the proposed Muslim ban, saying: ‘If he is elected president he will block Muslims from entering the US – well, that’s just not fair.’…

Tahir Ashrafi, a senior Pakistani government cleric, said: ‘We hope that Trump’s remarks against Muslims were only to boost his campaign and he will realise that Muslims are a large population in the U.S.’

Clinton Circle: MIT just released a fantastic tool based on the Wikileaks emails. This is what Clinton’s ‘circle of trust’ looks like from her emails.

The MIT Media Lab created a visualization showing connections between the tens of thousands of emails sent by the candidate from a private server when she was secretary of state.

Clinton Circle, a new analysis made by the Macro Connections group from MIT Media Lab is the first graphic proposal that shows the relationships behind email interactions and also, facilitates reading these emails. Using a tool they had previously created called Immersion, researchers loaded nearly 30,000 private mails sent or received from the Hillary Clinton email address–which have already been published by WikiLeaks.

It all started early last week. Kevin Hu, one of my senior grad students, told me that a friend of his asked if we could use Immersion — an email visualization tool we had released in 2013 — to visualize Clinton’s Wikileaks email dataset.

The timing was not ideal for us. Kevin asked me this question when the Media Lab member event was getting started, which is a particularly busy time of the year. So my first question to Kevin was: “Can we?”

What made the project possible, besides Kevin’s amazing talents, was that we had reactivated the Immersion project a few weeks ago together with Jingxian Zhang, a new grad student in the group. Immersion had been paralyzed for two years since the students who had worked on it graduated. But Jingxian was now working to help complete the original vision of this project, and with her software engineering skills, visualizing the Wikileaks Clinton email dataset in Immersion was a possibility. So now that I knew we could do it, the question was: Should we?

Should questions are tough, especially when you need to consider a number of different variables. But before I tell you why I decided to move ahead with the project, I’ll try to make sure we are all on the same page about why this dataset is relevant.

The answer is quite simple, but also, not the one that you hear most often. Clinton’s emails are not relevant because they expose an alleged circle of corruption, or wrongdoing, as many conservatives claim. Her emails are also not irrelevant because they do not expose corruption or wrongdoing, as many liberals claim. These emails are relevant because Clinton was a person in charge of doing a security job, and anyone working on a security job is not supposed to communicate using an unsecured or unauthorized channel. This should be obvious, since each extra channel of communication increases the vulnerability of the system by increasing the probability that messages are intercepted. So the reason why Clinton’s emails are a big deal is because a person in charge of security should not be using an insecure channel, and those who argue from that perspective have a valid point.

Now, did Clinton actually reveal sensitive information? Whether she did or didn’t is a separate point from the one above, but also, one that we need to consider. Also, how are people supposed to learn about what was revealed in these messages? Should they blindly trust what the media tells them, or should they be allowed to evaluate this information themselves? And in a world where this information is already publicly available, but hard to digest, should we silence efforts that make this primary source of data available to citizens, or should we embrace them, as these efforts allow us to make our own conclusions by personally browsing the data?

For years I have created teams with unique capacities to make large datasets easy to understand. Earlier this year we released Data USA, the most comprehensive visualization of US public data. In 2013, we released a project visualizing the entire formal sector economy of Brazil (dataviva.info). My group also has been hosting a very popular tool to visualize international trade data (atlas.media.mit.edu) since 2011 (see chidalgo.com for a full list of projects). So in this environment, where I lead groups with the ability to make data easily digestible, and have a commitment to making data accessible so that people can explore it directly and make their own decisions, I decided that improving people’s ability to navigate a politically relevant dataset that was already publicly available was the right choice. My intuition was that, if you were going to spend 1, 5, or 10 minutes looking directly at these emails, you would get a slightly deeper understanding of what was in them if you used our interface rather than the ones that were presently available. I believe that these potential increases in depth, together with the creation of tools that allow people to explore primary sources of data directly, are a contribution. You may disagree with my choice, but I hope you at least understand it.

So what did we learn by making this dataset accessible?

We learned a few things about what Clinton’s emails said, about how the media works, and about how people interpreted the project.

We made clinton.media.mit.edu publicly available last Friday night (October 28, 2016). We launched with a single story, written by Alejandra Vargas from Univision.

My intuition was that the story was likely to get picked up by other news sources. After all, the tool facilitated people’s ability to read and understand the content of these emails, and the connections of the people involved in them. But I was wrong—it has been nearly a week since we released the project and no other major news source has picked up the story, despite having been viewed by more than 300,000 people in less than a week.

So how did we get so much traffic without any news coverage? The answer is social media. So far, the tool has been shared widely on Twitter, Facebook, and for a brief but intense time, on Reddit. Its spread has been fueled by different motives, and also, has been battled in different ways.

Many reporters shared the news on their personal accounts understanding that the tool represents a different form of data reporting, or data journalism: one where people are provided with a tool that facilitates their ability to explore a relevant dataset, instead of being provided with a story summarizing a reporter’s description of that dataset.

Another group of people that shared the news were interface designers, who understand that there is a need to improve the tabular interface of present day email clients, and that the inbox we presented in this project was an attractive new alternative.

But many people also shared our site claiming that this was evidence of Clinton’s corruption, and that the site supported Trump. More on that later.

But the spread of the site was not without its detractors. A few hours after we released the site I received a message from a friend telling me that what I had done was “a huge mistake” and that I should have waited to post this until “later in the year.”

A few days later, outside my lab, a member of a neighboring research group called me a “Trump supporter” and told me that I should have only made that site available if it also included Trump’s emails. I told him that I would be happy to include them, but I had no access to the data. In haste, this colleague began emailing me news articles, none of which provided access to the alleged public dataset of Trump emails.

Later, a friend of one of my students posted the news on Reddit, where it went viral. And I mean really viral. It became the top story of the Internetisbeautiful subreddit, and made it to Reddit’s front page. It collected more than 3,000 upvotes and 700 comments. But as the story peaked, a moderator single-handedly removed it in an authoritarian move, and justified this unilateral silencing of the post by adding a rule banning “sites that serve a political agenda or that otherwise induce drama.” Of course, the rule was added AFTER the post was removed

So when it comes to media, social or not, I learned that providing information directly to people so that they can inspect it and evaluate it, is a value that many people consider second to supporting their preferred electoral choice. The twist is that I don’t support Trump. In fact, I don’t support him at all. I think he is potentially a threat to global security, and also, a candidate that has shown repeatedly to be a dividing rather than unifying force. He has failed to respect contracts numerous times, defrauding contractors; and he certainly has shown little respect for people’s development by creating a fraudulent university. So I think he is ill prepared for most jobs, including a difficult one like that of being president.

I support Clinton in this election, and even though I don’t get to vote (As a green card holder I just pay taxes), I want her to win next Tuesday. I really do. But I understand that this is my own personal choice, a choice that I want to make sure is informed by my ability to evaluate information about the candidates directly, and by a media that is more transparent than the one we now have. Trust me, if I had Trump’s tax records, I would also think it is a good idea to make a tool that makes them more easily digestible. But my reason to make that tool, once again, would not come from my support for Clinton, or my opposition to Trump. It would come from my support for a society where people have direct access to relevant sources of information through well-designed data visualization tools.

So what did I learn about Clinton’s emails? One of the advantages of helping design a data visualization tool is that you get an intimate understanding of the data you are visualizing. After all, you have to explore the data and use the tool to make dozens of design decisions. In this case, the development cycle was particularly fast, but nevertheless I got to learn a few things about the data.

Of course, the whole point of making this tool is that you can use it to come up with your own interpretation of the data. That said, you might be curious about mine, so I’ll share it with you too.

What I saw on Clinton’s emails was not surprising to me. It involved a relatively small group of people talking about what language to use when communicating with other people. Also, it involved many unresponded-to emails. Many conversations revolved around what words to use or avoid, and what topics to focus on, or how to avoid some topics, when speaking in public or in meetings. This is not surprising to me because I’ve met many politicians in my life, including a few presidents and dozens of ministers and governors, so I know that what work means to many people in this line of work, on a daily basis, is strategizing what to say and being careful about how to say it. I am sure that if we had access to Trump’s emails we would see plenty of the same behavior.

So what I got from reading some of Clinton’s email is another piece of evidence confirming my intuition that political systems scale poorly. The most influential actors on them are spending a substantial fraction of their mental capacity thinking about how to communicate, and do not have the bandwidth needed to deal with many incoming messages (the unresponded-to emails). This is not surprising considering the large number of people they interact with (although this dataset is rather small. I send 8k emails a year and receive 30k. In this dataset Clinton is sending only 2K emails a year).

Our modern political world is one where a few need to interact with many, so they have no time for deep relationships — they physically cannot. So what we are left is with a world of first impressions and public opinion, where the choice of words matters enormously, and becomes central to the job. Yet, the chronic lack of time that comes from having a system where few people govern many, and that leads people to strategize every word, is not Clinton’s fault. It is just a bug that affects all modern political systems, which are ancient Greek democracies that were not designed to deal with hundreds of millions of people.

On another note, this exercise also helped me reaffirm my belief that the best way to learn about the media is not by reading the news, but by being news. I’ve had the fortune, and misfortune, to have been news many times. This time, I honestly thought that we had a piece of content that some media channels would be interested in and that it would get picked up easily. I have many reporter friends who are enthusiastic about new forms of data journalism, and that actually have been positive and encouraging this week. So I imagined that there was a good chance that a reporter would see the site, go to his or her editor, and say: “Hey, I have an interactive data visualization of all Clinton’s emails. Can I write a story on it?” and the editor would say: “Of course, make it quick.” I don’t know if these conversations actually happened, but given the large volume of traffic our project received I would be surprised if they didn’t. I learned that the outcome was not the one I intuited.

And this brings me to my final point, which is that while I support Clinton in this election, and I think Trump is a bad choice for president (a really bad one), I still think that we should work on the creation of tools that improve the ability of people to personalize scrutinize politically relevant information. I now understand that much of the U.S. media may not share that view with me, and that I think this is an important point of reflection. I hope the media takes some time to think about this on November 9 (or the week after).

Also, the large number of people who were unable to interpret our tool as anything but an effort to support or oppose a political candidate — and that was true for both liberals and conservatives — speaks to me about an ineffective public sphere. And that’s something I think we should all be concerned about. This polarization is not just a cliché. It is a crippling societal condition that is expressed in the inability of people to see any merit, or any point, in opposing views. That’s a dangerous, and chronic, institutional disease that is expressed also in the inability of people to criticize their own candidates, because they fear being confused with someone their peers will interpret as a supporter of the opposing candidate. If you cannot see any merit in the candidate you oppose, even in one or two of the many points that have been made, you may have it.

So that’s how this election has muddled the gears of democracy. When we cannot learn from those we oppose, or agree when they have a valid point, our learning stops. We keep on talking past each other. I know that this election has made learning from those we oppose particularly difficult, but the difficult tests are the ones that truly show us what we are really made of. These are the situations that push us to see past all of the things that we don’t like, or don’t agree on, so we can rescue a lesson. You may not agree with me, but I hope at least I gave you something to think about.

The FBI was willing to allow Americans to be murdered. This is confirmation of the suspicions in an article at Breitbart last August:

It’s hard to escape the conclusion that the Obama FBI wanted me and the other speakers at the event dead. Dutch freedom fighter Geert Wilders was the keynote speaker; he has been living with armed guards for years for supposedly “insulting Islam.” My colleague Robert Spencer has received numerous death threats from Muslims. Cartoon contest winner Bosch Fawstin drew Muhammad. Did Obama’s pro-Islam FBI want us all dead?

What other conclusion can be reached?

I’ve been trying to get my mind around this thing. What was Obama trying to do? Teach Americans a lesson? Enforce the edict that he enunciated in the wake of the Benghazi jihad slaughter, that “the future must not belong to those to slander the prophet of Islam”?

If people had died at our Garland event, the murders would have had a blood-chilling effect on the freedom of speech in America. That, in my view, appears to have been what the Obama administration wanted — and certainly that’s what the enemedia wanted in the wake of our event, as it gleefully and relentlessly blamed us for violating Sharia blasphemy laws and getting shot at.

“Security Guard Wounded In ISIS Attack: ‘FBI Responsible,’” by J. D. Miles, CBSDFW.com, November 3, 2016 (thanks to Gage):

GARLAND (CBSDFW.COM) – The security guard who survived last year’s ISIS terrorist attack on the Culwell Center in Garland said not only are the terrorists responsible but so is the FBI for his injuries and the attack itself.

“I feel like they are not coming clean,” said Bruce Joiner about the FBI.

Joiner, 59, was the Garland school district security officer, shot in the leg by Elton Simpson and Nadir Soofi. The two ISIS recruits drove to the Culwell Center and started firing before they were killed by Garland Police. Joiner managed to help them stop Simpson and Soofi before they ever got close to the ballroom with about 200 people at a contest for cartoons of the Muslim prophet Muhammad. Joiner was treated at a hospital and released hours after suffering a lower leg wound.

But Joiner said there’s more to what happened that day. He has now claimed that three officers told him an undercover FBI agent was following terrorists in another vehicle.

“I know that there was a third person. I know he had his life saved by claiming he was an FBI agent,” said Joiner.

Joiner said Garland officers had guns pointed at the man dressed in Middle Eastern attire and quickly taken away by federal agents.

“He was detained put in the back of a squad car,” said Joiner. “They put a bag over his head and took him away to another location.”

But both the FBI and Garland Police have refused to confirm or deny that account.

Still Joiner is using that information as the basis for a possible lawsuit, accusing the FBI of allowing the violent plot to go forward.

“I think they allowed it to go too far,” said Joiner.

“They are responsible… they have an intentional tort on their hands,” said Trent Roberts, Joiner’s attorney.

Roberts said the government has stonewalled him about its undercover activities before the attack.

The FBI arrest affidavit stated that an undercover agent was tracking the terrorists for weeks even sending a text urging them to quote “tear up Texas.”

FBI Director James Comey said Garland was sent a bulletin three hours before the attack warning that someone could be on their way.

Joiner believes and may soon try to prove in court that the FBI could have stopped it but chose not to.

“I don’t know of any undercover agent that can allow their fellow officers and citizens to be fired upon in the course of an investigation you have to stop that before that happens,” said Joiner.

Joiner said were it not for the quick thinking of Garland SWAT officers he believes the FBI would have blood on its hands….

The Moroccan king has vowed to cover the legal fees of a pop singer who has been imprisoned in France charged with aggravated rape.

Saad Lamjarred, 31, a star in Morocco who is well known on the Arab pop music scene, was charged on Friday after he allegedly attacked a woman in his hotel room.

Following the star’s arrest, King Mohammed VI has said he will cover Lamjarred’s legal costs, Morocco’s official MAP news agency reported.

According to the Moroccan Embassy in Paris, the king wants French lawyer Eric Dupond Moretti, who is known for securing his clients’ acquittals, to defend the pop star, and has promised to pick up the bill.

The 20-year-old woman claims that Lamjarred attacked her in his hotel room near the Champs Elysees in Paris.

Lamjarred, who had been due to perform in Paris on Saturday, has been imprisoned in France while the investigation continues.

He was reportedly under the influence of both alcohol and drugs at the time of the alleged attack….

“WIKILEAKS: Hillary Got $12 Million for Clinton Charity As Quid Pro Quo For Morocco Meeting,” by Richard Pollock, Daily Caller, October 20, 2016 (thanks to Phil):

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton arranged a $12 million donation from Moroccan King Mohammed VI to her family’s charity in 2014 in return for the Clinton Global Initiative hosting its international meeting in the North African Muslim nation, according to an email made public Thursday by Wikileaks.

The Moroccan monarch’s funds went to the Clinton Foundation’s endowment and to CGI. The Jan. 18, 2015, email was included in Wikileaks’ latest batch of communications to and from Clinton’s presidential campaign chairman, John Podesta.

The email from Huma Abedin, Clinton’s Deputy Chief of Staff at the State Department, was addressed to Podesta and campaign manager Robby Mook. Hillary Clinton was a director of the foundation at the time.

Singapore and Hong Kong officials reportedly were also vying to convene the CGI meeting in their countries, but the North African nation ultimately hosted it in a five-star hotel in Marrakesh, Morocco, in 2015. Abedin told Podesta and Mook that Morocco was not CGI’s “first choice.”

The actual meeting was paid for by OCP, the Moroccan-government-owned mining company that has been accused of serious human rights violations. Clinton vigorously supported the Moroccan King when she was Secretary of State and the U.S.-financed Export-Import Bank gave OCP a $92 million loan guarantee during her tenure as Secretary of State.

The mining company also contributed between $5 million to $10 million to the Clinton Foundation, according to the charity’s web site.

Abedin described the arrangement in the email as having been organized by her boss. Hillary Clinton “created this mess and she knows it,” she told Podesta and Mook.

She said the Moroccan deal was entirely dreamed up by her boss. “This was HRC’s idea, our office approached the Moroccans and they 100 percent believe they are doing this at her request. The King has personally committed approx. $12 million both for the endowment and to support the meeting.” HRC stands for Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Abedin said Clinton’s attendance at the CGI event was a condition of the $12 million contribution. “Just to give you some context, the condition upon which the Moroccans agreed to host the meeting was her participation. If hrc was not part if it, meeting was a non-starter,” Abedin said.

Politico in 2015 reported that Clinton “was seen by Rabat as among its most ardent supporters in the Obama administration.” Rabat is the capital of Morocco.

The Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice charged OCP with “serious human rights violations,” including exploitation of workers by not “adequately compensating the impoverished people who live there.”

Mohamed Yeslem Beisat, the Washington envoy for the Polisaro Front, as reported by AL-Monitor, a Middle East news site in 2015 that “OCP is the first beneficiary of the war and the first beneficiary of the occupation — it is the one that is cashing in on the misery of thousands of refugees and hundreds of political detainees for the past 40 years.”

Polisaro claims to lead a Moroccan government-in-exile based in Tindouf, Algeria.

“They’re doing this because they know Hillary has some chances of being president of the United States. And they want her to support their brutal occupation of Western Sahara,” Beisat charged….

On the same day that UNESCO, the United Nation’s world heritage organization, voted to adopt a controversial resolution that Israel claims deletes Jewish ties to Jerusalem holy sites, Israeli archaeologists made a fragment of an ancient text available Wednesday that shows the earliest known Hebrew reference to the city important to Christians, Jews and Muslims.

The text fragment, on an 11 centimeter by 2.5 centimeter piece of papyrus, dates back to the 7th century B.C.E, long before the Bible was written, according to the Israel Antiquities Authority. The paper was presented in Jerusalem shortly after the UN resolution passed, Reuters reported. The Hebrew script reportedly details the payment of taxes or transfer of goods to storehouses in Jerusalem.

“From the king’s maidservant, from Na’arat, jars of wine, to Jerusalem,” the papyrus reads.

The script was discovered after robbers plundered a cave and the Antiquities Authority says that the document is “the earliest extra-biblical source to mention Jerusalem in Hebrew writing.”

The script is seen by Jewish officials as contradictory to the UNESCO resolution, which refers to areas around an important Jerusalem compound with significance to both the Jewish and Muslim religions as only a “Muslim holy site of worship.” Jewish people know the central site as Temple Mount and Muslims know it as Haram al-Sharif.

“Hey UNESCO, an ancient papyrus dating to the 1st Temple 2700 yrs ago has been found. It bears the oldest known mention of Jerusalem in Hebrew,” Ofir Gendelman, a spokesman for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, wrote on Twitter after the papyrus was publicly released.

The issue of what to call the holy site has had implications across the globe and politicians internationally have weighed in. Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has said that it is “disappointing and wrong” that UNESCO was “considering a resolution on Jerusalem that fails to recognize and respect the deep and historic ties of the Jewish people to Jerusalem and its holy sites.” Her main rival, Republican Donald Trump, has also criticized the effort.

EASO Spokesman Jean-Pierre Schembri said protesters had hurled petrol bombs while interviews with asylum-seekers were taking place.

More of Hillary’s handiwork. In the run-up to the Libyan coup, Hillary Clinton was convinced that overthrowing Gaddafi would lead to a democracy, according to multiple sources interviewed by The New York Times.

Former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates said Clinton was a major influence in President Barack Obama’s decision to go to war. Gates recounted Obama once telling him a debate in the Oval Office on the issue was split “51-49.”more here

It led to the brutal murder of Qaddafi in the streets of Libya, complete chaos and  the rise of ISIS in Libya.

Today’s coup is led by by Khalifa al-Ghwell, former prime minister of the national salvation government, which was displaced by the GNA — Libya’s United Nations-backed government — seizing key state buildings and a TV station and pledging they are ready to fight to take power.when it arrived in the capital in March. In its statement, the plotters declared the GNA was now “void” and had been replaced by the salvation government.

Libya Dawn backs Ghwell’s Tripoli-based government, which says it is a revival of the post-revolutionary GNC. Aljazeera descibesLibya Dawn this way: ” Muslim Brotherhood supporters, armed groups such as Ansar al-Sharia and patchwork of conservative Misratan businessmen.”

Conservative in media-speak means jihadi – devout Muslims.

“Coup attempt reported in Libya as militias try to seize power from UN-backed government,” By David Millward, Telegraph, 15 October 2016:

Militias have attempted to overturn Libya’s United Nations-backed government it has been reported.

According to the Guardian the militias have seized control of the central Rixos hotel, which houses the government’s state council.

The plotters issued a statement saying that the coup was an “historic initiative to rescue Libya”. However the presidency asserting that it remained in control has ordered the arrest of the plotters.

Led by Khalifa al-Ghwell, former prime minister , the two sides confronted each other at the Rixos with forces loyal to the Government of National Accord pulling back.

Supporters of the coup appeared to have gained control of the Rixos complex and the whereabouts of the presidency remained unclear.

The political situation has been unstable in Libya, despite the United Nations ordering an orderly handover of power to a unity government headed by Fayez al-Sarraj in March.

It had been hoped the deal, brokered by the United Nations last December, would enable the establishment of a government of national unity.

However last month forces from the elected parliament in Tobruk, which is hostile to the authorities in Tripoli, captured four key oil ports last month.

The regime Colonel Muammar Gaddafi who ruled the country with an iron first for decades was deposed with help of Nato air power in 2011.

This makes it clear that the whole “Trojan Horse” investigation was a sham. The UK is fine with the Islamization of its schools. And that will be only the beginning.

“Two teachers in ‘Trojan horse’ school who fed pupils a ‘diet of Islam’, segregated assemblies and ignored sex education are allowed BACK into classrooms by a High Court judge,” by Jenny Awford, MailOnline, October 13, 2016:

Two teachers who were struck off for feeding pupils a ‘diet of Islam’ at a school linked to the ‘Trojan horse’ scandal are being allowed back into the classroom.

Inam Anwar and Akeel Ahmed, who taught at Park View in Birmingham and were part of WhatsApp group ‘Park View Brotherhood’, were banned in February.

But a High Court judge found the teachers were treated ‘unfairly’ and he overturned the ban today.

They claimed they were targeted after the ‘Trojan Horse’ letter was published in 2013 – which detailed a plot to introduce hardline Muslim teaching into schools.

Both men were struck off this year after a National College of Teaching and Leadership (NCTL) panel found they exercised ‘undue religious influence’ on pupils.

The panel heard the pupils at the 600-strong secondary school were never taught about safe sex, relationships or contraception.

Anwar, the head of modern languages, and Ahmed, in charge of religious studies, were accused of changing the curriculum so sex education was not taught.

NCTL officials also said Ahmed organised religious assemblies where boys were segregated from girls.

He was also said to have encouraged prayer during the school day through posters and a call to prayer on the school’s loudspeaker system.

Both men were also accused of taking part in a WhatsApp chat that discussed the murder of soldier Lee Rigby and the Boston Marathon bombings.

They were cleared of distributing or using leaflets, promoting the view that a married man has an ‘entitlement’ to have sex with his wife.

The NCTL said their misconduct was serious and Education Secretary, Nicky Morgan, agreed that they should be banned from teaching in England indefinitely.

But Mr Justice Phillips today ruled at London’s High Court that the men’s treatment had been ‘unjust’.

He accepted that important evidence had not been disclosed to the pair and there had been ‘serious procedural impropriety’ in the NCTL’s fact-finding process.

Upholding the pair’s judicial review challenge, he ruled their treatment had been ‘unfair’ and they were reinstated back into the profession….

ISIS Weaponizes Drones: ‘This Is the Stuff Everyone Has Been Terrified About’

ISIS has figured out how to weaponize the drones its members have been using for surveillance, and so has Hezbollah and other terror groups – and they’re starting to send them into battle against each other, particularly in Syria.

From the Associated Press:

“A video belonging to an AL Qaeda offshoot, Jund al-Aqsa, purportedly shows a drone landing on Syrian military barracks. In another video , small explosives purportedly dropped by the Iran-backed Shiite militant group Hezbollah target the Sunni militant group Jabhat Fatah al-Sham, formerly known as the Nusra Front.

“A U.S. military official, who spoke anonymously because he wasn’t authorized to discuss the matter publicly, said the U.S. military is aware of the development. Commanders have warned troops to take cover if they see what they might have once dismissed as a surveillance drone, he said.

“[Chris Woods] The head of the Airwars project, which tracks the international air war in Iraq, Syria and Libya, said the weaponized drones are clumsy but will scare people.”

And Woods didn’t pull punches about the possible ramifications of such technology in the hands of terrorists.

“There are a million ways you can weaponize drones — fire rockets, strap things in and crash them,” Chris Woods said, then adding, “This is the stuff everyone has been terrified about for years, and now it’s a reality.”

The videos haven’t been authenticated by independent U.S. military sources. But another U.S. military official, also anonymous, who spoke to the AP said by all appearances, the videos seemed genuine.

“‘It’s not going to change the overall balance of power in the region, but it matters by the very fact that these are things that are normally beyond the capability of insurgents or terrorists groups,’ said Peter Singer, author of the book “Wired for War: The Robotics Revolution and Conflict in the 21st Century,” and a senior fellow at the New America Foundation. …

“There is no question the militant groups are outmatched in the sky. But as cells linked to the Islamic State group pop up across Europe and the United States, the real concern is the potential impact these experimental small, flying bombs could have if launched over crowded cities.

“‘You already see things happening in Ukraine, gangs in Mexico are using drones, and in Ireland, gangs there are using surveillance,’ said Wim Zwijnenburg, a security and disarmament policy adviser at Netherlands-based PAX for Peace. ‘Add a small amount of explosives to a small drone, and even the psychological factor is pretty significant.'”

COMMENT  With a near 80% illiteracy rate in the Muslim general population  I'm thinking they might have had some outside help with this one? For an organisation with no manufacturing capability they seem pretty well armed don't they?
