All Knowing? -- Only God!

All Knowing? -- Only God!
 
A good friend of our family lies in a hospital bed unable to speak clearly or move his right side. Why doesn't the Lord take him home? Why does he have to suffer? We don't know. A young man from our church family suffers severe pain from advanced Krone's disease. Why is there no drug to give him relief? Why is life so hard for him? We don't 
know. A vibrant, fun-filled lady dies unexpectedly leaving a shocked family and congregation. Why did God choose to take her home now? We don't know.

So many unknowns. So many questions. We live in a culture that expects answers. At the best of times, we run to our computers and press Google. Within seconds the response to our query is staring us in the face. At the worst of times, we call our parents or an expert in the field, and they give us answers to our questions. But God, in His infinite wisdom, often chooses not to tell us the reasons for many events in our lives. He desires to stretch our faith and encourage us to trust Him in all things -- even the hard issues of life.
 
Instead of dwelling on the things we don't know, we can and should put our focus on what we do know. Scripture clearly defines such things.

'I know that my Redeemer lives...' Job 19:25 
          'I know that in my flesh I shall see God' Job: 19:26 
                    'Know the Lord that He is God'  Psalm 100:3 
'We have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.' John 6:69 
         'Know the love of Christ which passes knowledge... ' Ephesians 3:19 
                    '...you know the truth...' 1 John2:21
'We know He abides in us by the Spirit whom He has given us.' 1 John 3:24
 
We also know God has a plan for us; He is able to keep us from evil; He knows our works; He never sleeps but is ever watching over us. These and so many other facts are confirmed in Scripture, and we can know them if we seek Him diligently in the pages of our Bibles.
 
Perhaps one day we will get answers to the difficult questions of life.  Perhaps we will never know the reasons why things unfold the way they do. However, we can know the One Who is sovereign, the One Who holds all things in the palms of His hands. And because we know Him, we can rest in peace.
