Korean American Detainee Freed From North Korea Hands VP Note With Psalm 126 Written on Back

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. — One of the three men who were freed from North Korea this week and returned home to America with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo handed Vice President Mike Pence a note that contained text from Psalm 126 on the back.
Pence shared a photo of the Scripture, written on a lined index card, to Twitter on Thursday.
“When the Lord brought back the captives to Zion, we were like men who dreamed. Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, ‘The Lord has done great things for them.’ The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy,” it read.
The men touched down at Andrews Air Force Base just before 3 a.m. on Thursday and exited the plane with smiles and waves. They were greeted by President Trump and Vice President Pence and their wives.
“We would like to express our deep appreciation to the United States government, President Trump, Secretary Pompeo, and the people of the United States for bringing us home. We thank God, and all our families and friends who prayed for us and for our return,” the three said in an official statement released by the U.S. Department of State.

Wisconsin Man Accused of Sexual Abuse, Aborting Baby of Impregnated Middle Schooler Sentenced to 60 Years in Prison

CRANDON, Wisc. — A Wisconsin man who was accused of sexually abusing several young girls over a period of six years and performing an abortion on one of them after impregnating her has been sentenced to 60 years behind bars.
According to reports, Matthew Christenson, 34, had been charged with 14 felonies that included sexual assault and child abuse, but he was convicted of just four due to a plea deal. He pleaded guilty to three counts of second-degree sexual assault of a child and one count of child abuse/recklessly causing harm after previously pleading not guilty to all charges.
Prosecutors said that pursuing the additional charges would not have lengthened the punishment and they didn’t want to put the victims through a trial. Five of them sat in the courtroom for the sentencing on Monday, as Christenson was sentenced to 60 years in prison, meaning that he will likely spend the rest of his life behind bars.
“I can’t risk you being out,” Judge Patrick O’Melia told Christenson, according to local television station WJFW. “I don’t want you to see children again.”

JACKSON, Mich. — A cross that has stood on a Michigan hillside since 1950 has been removed following a complaint from a local resident who asserted that crosses shouldn’t be displayed on state property.
While the cross is displayed atop Sackrider Hill in the Waterloo Recreation Area, it belongs to the Grass Lake Ministerial Association, which holds a permit to erect the display on state property. Residents who hike up the hill will find it at the top overlooking I-94.
According to a YouTube video by Brian Kruger, who hosts a local “Guess What I Found Series” to highlight landmarks in the area, local congregations have held a sunrise service every year atop the hill since the 1930’s. Evangelist George Bennard, who penned the hymn “The Old Rugged Cross,” was a participant of one of the services.
“The cross was brought up by the congregations. Every year they’d bring [it] up and set it here, and then they’d take it down and do it again next year,” he explained.
In 1950, they decided to make the cross permanent, and in 1968, after the cross was stolen on Halloween, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) helped to replace the structure.

As it was concluded that no constitutional malady existed, the cross was allowed to stay.
However, the conflict was recently reignited after a local resident likewise complained about the presence of the cross on state land. The Michigan Association of Civil Rights Activists asked the DNR to “remove the offending” symbol, according to MLive.com.
Those in support of the cross again pushed back, creating a petition asking the DNR to save the display as it did in the 1990’s.
“The cross is a recognized landmark, has been a meaningful place for people to gather throughout history, and is part of many residents’ personal memories,” local resident Billie Dawson told reporters. “Rather than let one voice tear it down, thousands are speaking up.”

SANTA FE, Texas (Click 2 Houston) — Ten people were killed Friday in a shooting at Santa Fe High School, according to NBC News, and police are investigating explosive devices found at the scene and nearby.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said a majority of those that were killed in the shooting were students. He said that the two people who were taken into custody, including the person believed to be the gunman, are students at the school.
Gonzalez said a Santa Fe Independent School District police officer was critically injured in the shooting.
Officials at UTMB Hospital in Galveston said the facility had received at least three patients from the scene, including the Santa Fe ISD police officer, a 16-year-old boy and a middle-aged woman. The officer is listed in critical condition. The two others suffered gunshot wounds to the leg and are listed in good condition.

CORAM, N.Y. — A New York woman is accused of attempting to place her newborn son in the trash. The baby is now in foster care as two unidentified residents at the woman’s home heard the baby crying inside of the plastic bag she was carrying and stopped her from doing harm to the child.
According to reports, Felicia Squillace, 26, gave birth at her home in Coram on April 27. She then placed her son in a plastic bag and walked toward the garbage can outside the house.

According to Pix11 News, Squillace was transported to the hospital for treatment and evaluation, and then arrested upon her release. She pleaded not guilty to second degree attempted murder on Friday.
Newsday reports that Squillace’s attorney said that she had suffered from mental illness and was a “victim of human trafficking.” But Suffolk County District Attorney Timothy Sini noted that the woman meant to do harm to her child.

“She intended to roll the baby in a plastic bag. She intended to throw that baby in the garbage,” he told reporters. “If not for the residents stopping her, the baby would likely be dead.”
Squillace’s newborn was unharmed, and was placed into foster care after being evaluated.
As previously reported, in an introductory lecture to his course on obstetrics in 1854, Philadelphia doctor Hugh Lennox Hodge lamented that even the mothers of his day were lacking of natural affection toward their own children and sought out means to kill them.
“They seem not to realize that the being within them is indeed animate, that is, in verity, a human being—body and spirit—that it is of importance, that its value is inestimable, having reference to this world and the next,” he said. “They act with as much indifference as if the living, intelligent, immortal existence lodged within their organs were of no more value than the bread eaten, or the common excretions of the system.”
“We can bear testimony that in some instances, the woman who has been well educated, who occupies high stations in society, whose influence over others is great, and whose character has not been impugned, will deliberately resort to any and every measure which may effectively destroy her unborn offspring,” Hodge sorrowed.

ALBANY, N.Y. — The New York attorney general who aggressively sued 14 pro-lifers last June in claiming that they “harass” abortion-minded mothers outside of an abortion facility in Jamaica has resigned amidst allegations that he physically abused four women with whom he had sexual relationships.
Eric Schneiderman, 63 and an outspoken #Metoo supporter, denied the charges and asserted that while he had sexual relations with the women, he never hurt them.
“In the privacy of intimate relationships, I have engaged in role-playing and other consensual sexual activity. I have not assaulted anyone. I have never engaged in non-consensual sex, which is a line I would not cross,” he said in a statement.
“While these allegations are unrelated to my professional conduct or the operations of the office, they will effectively prevent me from leading the office’s work at this critical time,” Schneiderman stated.
The attorney general, who is divorced, is accused of slapping and choking the women while intoxicated, and also using abusive and demeaning language. One of the women claims that Schneiderman was a heavy drinker, and “would almost always drink two bottles of wine in a night, then bring a bottle of Scotch into the bedroom. He would get absolutely plastered five nights out of seven.”

Alberta Family Services Reverses Rejection of Adoption Application Over Couple’s Beliefs About Sexuality

ALBERTA, Canada — Alberta Child and Family Services has reversed its original rejection of a couple’s adoption application due to their biblical beliefs about sexuality.
According to reports, the couple, which has only been identified as C.D. and N.D., filed the application in October 2016. The case was assigned to Catholic Social Services, which conducted interviews and compiled a home study. The couple had desired to adopt an older child that needed a forever family.
During the interviews, the couple was asked how they would handle a situation in which a child questioned their sexuality or engaged in “sexual exploration.” They responded that they would provide loving guidance to the young person in the midst of their struggles.
In March 2017, Catholic Social Services contacted the couple to advise that Alberta Child and Family Services had follow-up questions regarding their views on sexuality. The couple then responded to those questions via email, reiterating that they would teach the child in accordance with their biblical views, but ultimately, the child’s decision on how to comport their conduct is up to themselves.
“The applicants reiterated their commitment to treating any child in their care with unconditional love, respect and compassion regardless of what the child chose to do, and regardless of the child’s sexual behavior,” a complaint filed on behalf of the couple by the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms reads.

(China Aid) — Two house churches in Beijing reported that authorities in the past week have investigated churches and pressured landlords to cancel the leases on houses of worship.
One of the churches chose to remain anonymous, though a member of this church named Yin said that on Sunday, May 6, the leader of the national security brigade of the Xicheng District Public Security Bureau brought a team of several dozen officers to the church’s service. Though the service was not disrupted, the officials took pictures and investigated the proceedings. On May 8, the national security brigade pressured the church’s landlord to revoke their lease.
“The police called us today,” Yin said, “and forbade us from organizing religious activities in any form. In the morning, the government forced the [Christian] brother who rented the building to sign a letter guaranteeing that he would not participate in any religious activities. Norwegian Boy Chased, Taken Into Custody by Authorities for Being Homeschooled

NORWAY — “Barnevernet is stealing our child in Norway because we want to homeschool!” That’s what one mother is heard shouting in a viral video posted to social media.
According to the Homeschool Legal Defense Association (HSLDA), Leif and Terese Kristiansen removed their 12-year-old son Kai from school after he was being bullied and officials did not move to stop the mistreatment. They decided to homeschool for a time until they could find a better school for their son.
“We repeatedly said the school is not a good fit for our son, but they did not listen,” Leif Kristiansen relayed to HSLDA. “In the end, we were worried about his mental and physical health. So, in the New Year, we notified the school and decided to temporarily homeschool until we agreed on a good school to transfer to.”
However, as Norway doesn’t take well to homeschooling, Barnevernet child welfare agents and police arrived at the Kristiansen’s home on Feb. 9 and sought to take Kai into custody pursuant an order. A video posted online shows Kai running away from officials, and being tackled as Terese Kristiansen calls out, “Can somebody please help us?! Help!”

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s lies have finally been exposed.
Government watchdog group Judicial Watch obtained never-before-seen State Department emails to and from Clinton that show the former secretary of State had “detailed knowledge about the security vulnerabilities involved in continuing to use her personal email,” according to the Washington Free Beacon.
The emails also reveal that some of those messages, sent via an insecure server, contained classified information.
She Was Warned
Clinton had previously claimed that she didn’t “stop and think” about the security risks in using private email to send classified information. She told NBC News in 2015 that she wished she had “made a different choice.”
“You know, I was not thinking a lot when I got in,” she said. “There was so much work to be done. We had so many problems around the world. I didn’t really stop and think, ‘What kind of email system will there be?'”
But this is a far-fetched, given the extent to which she was warned. Justin Cooper, former aide to her husband, told her in 2011:
All of your older messages will remain on the server. There is a way for me to move everything on to the new device, but the security whizzes have convinced me that this is a horrible thing to do because you also transfer any viruses, spyware and junk overseas providers hide on there.
He also told her that he would be adding new “security features and policies” to her Blackberry that included a “more complex password.”
“It is a constant fight to keep up with the security measures and unfortunately we keep seeing reminders of why we need to,” he said.
She Lied
According to Judicial Watch’s president, Tom Fitton, “These new emails refute Hillary Clinton’s repeated claims of having little or no knowledge about her email system.”
“She clearly was fully in charge of setting up her outlaw email system and overseeing its use. When will the Justice Department act?” Fitton asked. “The fact that Hillary Clinton and her agents tried to destroy or hide emails shows how she flagrantly and knowingly violated the laws that protect classified information and government records.”
No one should be above the law, yet somehow, Hillary Clinton consistently avoids the legal consequences of her actions.
Maybe it’s time to get that “lock her up” chant going again.

To protect a program that affects less than one million illegal immigrants and which doesn’t even expire until March, Democrats were willing to upend the armed forces, risk the health insurance of over 9 million children, and put on hold critical programs affecting veterans and opioid-dependent patients in desperate need of treatment.
Now, the president’s son is letting congressional Democrats know that — like it or not — they own the government shut down and all of the horrible consequences that accompany it.
“They obstruct, they distract, they try and place blame,” Eric Trump observed during a televised phone called with Fox News’ Judge Jeanine Pirro. “The only reason they want to shut down government is to distract and to stop [the president’s] momentum.”
Obstructing
As the Friday night deadline loomed to find a solution to the immigration impasse between Democrat and Republican lawmakers, the GOP offered a stopgap measure which included many bipartisan elements friendly to the interests of the Democrat Party. Republicans sought to prevent the shutdown and keep the government operating, yet as the president’s son noted, they couldn’t do this on their own.
“You had 269 Republicans who voted to keep government open, you had 230 Democrats who voted to close government, and then they’ll say that, ‘[President Donald] Trump is trying to close government,’” Eric Trump said. “It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me, and I’m pretty good at math.”
While congressional Republicans were ultimately united in their desire to preserve government operations, they needed at least 10 Democrats from the Senate to move forward with their temporary appropriations bill.
Senate rules require at least a three-fifths majority to pass legislation tied to government expenditure, and with the entire Democrat Party circling their wagons around the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, a shutdown was inevitable.
Distracting
Eric Trump sees this opposition as an attempt to distract from a year of unprecedented successes for his father’s administration. He explained:
I mean, my father has had incredible momentum. He has gotten more done in one year than arguably any president in history. How do they divert from that message? How do they save their own party when they don’t have any leadership, they don’t have any good candidates out there, they don’t have a message of their own? How do they do that? 
Referring to the shutdown, Trump told Pirro, “Honestly, I think it’s a good thing for us.” The president’s eldest son elaborated:
People see through it. I mean, people have seen a year that’s incredible, that’s been filled with nothing but the best for our country, “America First” policies, and they’re happy with where we are as a nation.
President Trump has echoed this sentiment, telling reporters that progressives are attempting to shift the nation’s attention away from the GOP’s prosperity-driving tax overhaul.
“I think the Democrats would like to see a shutdown in order to get off that subject,” the president remarked.

Placing blame
So far, the polls tend to agree with the Trump family’s analysis. Even a poll from the far left-leaning CNN, a cable network whose executives have intentionally manipulated their coverage to criticize the president, determined that most Americans believe Democrats are responsible for the shutdown.
While 26 percent of Americans believe Republicans should take the blame for the disruptive and dispiriting government shutdown, 31 percent point their fingers squarely at the Democrat Party. Twenty-one percent think that Trump is at fault, and 10 percent blame both political parties and the president.
Democrats may have made a fatal miscalculation by orchestrating the shutdown. Originally opposed to tying the future of their party and the welfare of millions of Americans to an appropriations bill, Democrats felt emboldened after the president allegedly made comments disparaging certain third-world countries and expressing a desire to shut down immigration from them.
However, as Eric Trump observed, most Americans are able to see through this vindictive political theater right to the core of Democrats desperate strategic ploy.
By pinning their future on a single unconfirmed utterance from the commander-in-chief, congressional Democrats may have alienated the electorate and compromised their performance in this year’s midterm elections.

If Oprah Winfrey runs for president in 2020, Republicans would be wise to capitalize on this bit of “oppo-research.”
In a 2013 interview with BBC, the billionaire talk show mogul said that before racism can be eradicated, “older generations” of people “just have to die.”

In 2013, Oprah appeared in an interview with the BBC’s Will Gompertz to promote The Butler, a movie dealing with themes of racism in which the talk show mogul co-starred.
When Gompertz asked Oprah whether racism had been solved, she said that it had gotten “better,” but would never go away completely until “older generations” died out.
She told Gompertz:
I’m saying problem not solved. I’m saying that, you know, that’s the beauty of a film like The Butler, and it’s the beauty of a film like 12 Years a Slave, and it’s the beauty of what we’re seeing on stage with Scottsboro Boys is that it allows people to see where the root of the problem started. It allows people to see, “Oh, that’s where it all started, this is how far we’ve come, and now this is how much farther we need to go.”
But it seems the former daytime television star doesn’t think much more progress can be made until an entire generation is no longer living. She told her host:
There is a whole generation — I said this for apartheid South Africa, I said this for my own community in the south — there are still generations of people, older people, who were born and bred and marinated in it, in that prejudice and racism, and they just have to die.
“As long as people can be judged by the color of their skin,” she added, “the problem is not solved.”
Problematic language
In this often-misquoted passage, Oprah did not specifically call for the death of “white” people. Still, her insistence that an entire generation must pass away to eradicate racism would not bode well should she intend to run for office, as numerous reports show that older people tend to vote much more often than younger citizens — and that gap is widening.
Earning the support of older generations is especially crucial in presidential campaigns, as the baby boomer vote can often dominate an election.
In 2016, voters over the age of 45 voted more often for Republican Donald Trump than Democrat opponent Hillary Clinton, which helped secure a GOP victory.
If Oprah were to run as a Democrat, her poor choice of words when referring to entire generations of Americans could cost her valuable votes.

While lawmakers haven’t yet been able to reveal the contents of a memo that allegedly details “shocking” FISA surveillance abuses under the Obama administration, some insiders suggest that publishing the memo could lead to the indictment of senior Obama officials.

This follows a shocking statement from Rep. Matt Gaetz, (R-Fla.), who said Thursday he “was very convinced by the evidence” and that if the memo does go public, “I think that this will not end just with firings. There are people who will go to jail.”
The FISA Memo
By now many Republicans believe that, while Trump was campaigning for the presidency, the wildly salacious Steele dossier, paid for by the Clinton campaign, was used to initiate investigations against him.
Also suspected is that the Obama administration, including the FBI and DOJ, used the information gathered in the dossier to justify the granting of a FISA warrant.
Seventeen months later, the FBI admits that the dossier’s collusion allegations remain unsubstantiated.
As a result, investigations have been made by congressional committees as to how this all came to be. One of these investigations, led by a group in the House of Representatives (House), just produced a memo which apparently details just how corrupt the different parts of the Obama government, including the FBI and DOJ, were.
This memo was released to be read by all members of the House, and it left many in disbelief; one Congressman even described the actions of the Obama administration as revealed in the memo as “worse than Watergate.”
Now the pressure is mounting for the memo to be released to the public. WikiLeaks has even offered a $1 million reward for access to it.
Pressure on Nunes
On Friday, a group of 65 lawmakers, led by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), signed a letter requesting that Devin Nunes, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, release the memo.
In the letter, they wrote:
After reading the document, we were shocked and frustrated, but it has deepened our belief in the vital importance of transparency.
This important memo will be of interest to anyone who cares about America and our democratic system of government,” the letter continues. “We are writing to request the immediate release of this document to the public, as well as any relevant ancillary information. The audience of this document should not be limited to Members of Congress — the American people deserve to know the information it contains.
According to Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), Nunes can bring the committee back together in order to have a vote. Then, if the majority votes to release the document, the executive branch will review it, in order to make the final determination as to whether to release the memo.
This suggests that the final decision to release it will be up to President Trump.
Midterm Elections
The release of the memo could have serious implications for the upcoming 2018 midterm elections.
As has been widely reported, the Republicans may lose seats in the House, which could spell trouble for Trump.
However, if the memo is as damaging to the Obama administration as House Republicans have reported, demonstrating the corruption of the American government under the Democratic regime of Obama could just flip the script.

House Democrats hired a Pakistani ex-McDonald’s worker as their IT administrator in 2009. Soon after his hiring, three family members and his best friend also found themselves as IT administrators for the Dems, roles they were paid a total of over $4 million for over several years — a scandal in itself.
Not only was the Awan family overpaid and underqualified, but they were engaged in far more “nefarious” activities. The Daily Caller reports that House investigators found that Imran Awan, his family, and his best friend used their insider positions to gain “unauthorized access” to Congressional servers and potentially classified information.
Even more troubling is that Democratic leadership appear to have consistently downplayed the security threat to their members, “leading 44 Democrats to not conduct protective measures typically taken after a breach — including informing constituents whose personal information may have been exposed,” reported the Caller.
The House Investigative Report
The four-month House investigation reportedly found that as recently as 2016, the Awan family was “allegedly accessing the data of members for whom they did not work, logging in as members of Congress themselves, and covering their tracks.”
The House’s Office of the Inspector General summed up their findings in a presentation titled “‘UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS’ that ‘5 shared employee system administrators have collectively logged into 15 member offices and the Democratic Caucus although they were not employed by the offices they accessed,'” according to the Caller.
The Awans also installed Dropbox — a third-party offsite cloud storage — on two Democratic Caucus computers, which is against House rules.
Even after being discovered and told to stop, the Awans kept up their illegal activities.
The Daily Caller reported:
Their behavior mirrored a “classic method for insiders to exfiltrate data from an organization,” and they continued even after orders to stop, the briefing materials allege.
There are indications that numerous members’ data may have been secretly residing not on their designated servers, but instead aggregated onto one server, according to the briefing and other sources. Authorities said that the entire server was then physically stolen.
The report also found that Democrat leadership lied to their own party, calling it all just a simple theft. As a result, the breach wasn’t reported as such — and critical security measures to mitigate damage weren’t implemented, including notifying constituents whose information was compromised.
Bank Fraud Allegations
As if all of that wasn’t enough, Awan and some of his family members have also been indicted on bank fraud charges. Awan wired close to $300,000 to Pakistan in July 2017, and was later arrested by the FBI as he tried to board a flight to his native country from Dulles International Airport in Washington.
His wife Hina Alvi had already left the U.S. months prior, with money she received from claiming medical hardship in order to withdraw from a retirement account.
Awan and his family stole hundreds of thousands of dollars in IT equipment, but according to Iowa Republican Rep. Steve King, this loss of taxpayer money is the least of their concerns.
“The American people deserve to know the truth to this; it is a big deal,” King told WND in the fall of 2017. “It’s not just $6 or $7 million, $120,000 worth of equipment here or there. The biggest thing is that the brothers, Awan’s wife and friend all had access to the private emails and electronic communications of members of Congress and all their staff.”
There’s “no telling what they downloaded, what they know,” King said.

When a social phenomenon as disgusting as the rampant sexual abuse epidemic permeates all sectors of society, it is counter-productive to politicize a recurring tragedy and assign responsibility where it does not exist.
Yet, this is precisely what twice-failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton did when she asked galvanized voters taking part in Saturday’s multi-city Women’s March to take their anger and resentment to “the voting booth this year.”
#MeToo matriarch
The sexual mistreatment that many women have endured for much of history transcends party, race, and class. To be fair, Republicans also have a role in this gross injustice that requires as much self-evaluation or corrective action as anywhere else.
For Clinton to ignore not just her own party’s role in this horrendous state of affairs, but her own husband’s horrible behavior, is the height of hypocrisy, however.
In a shameful tweet, Clinton asked women everywhere to forget that Hollywood and Democrat politicians have played a disproportionate and disgusting part in the sexual abuse of women.
And to do so on Saturday, as millions of women marched in capitals around the world in search of dignity, respect, and equality is grossly inappropriate.

Clinton attempted to tap into the same activism that the #MeToo sexual justice movement awakened in Americans from all walks of life. But Clinton failed to realize that the hundreds of thousands of demonstrators who marched in cities like Los Angeles and Chicago did so despite her and others like her.
Rather, many were marching because of the damage done to women’s rights by Clinton herself. After all, Clinton stood by her husband and even criticized his accusers as they came forward, one after another over the years, in a mini-#MeToo that predated the rise of the internet.
Former aides to First Lady Clinton recall how she sought to “destroy” the sexual harassment claims of one of her husband’s accusers while engaging in “blackmail” to compel others to withdraw their stories of abuse. Clinton is nothing short of a monster to women like Juanita Broaddrick, who accused Clinton’s husband of rape in 1999.

Such remorseless elitism is part of the reason that the former presidential candidate failed to galvanize millennials, Latinas, and non-college-educated white women in 2016. In many ways, Clinton represents the same social class as the dozens of Hollywood moguls who have been exposed in recent months for chronic sexual abuse crimes that could only have persisted so long by a flawed culture of blind acceptance.
Many marchers see Clinton as an accessory to sexual villains like Harvey Weinstein, who was a longtime donor to and supporter of Hillary. A New York Times report from December described a “complicity machine” full of “enablers, silencers and spies” that allowed Weinstein to remain the serial abuser without fear of police action.
Clinton was certainly a cog in this machine; both magazine editor Tina Brown and even actress Lena Dunham have confessed to warning the Clinton campaign about Weinstein in 2008 and 2016. But these warnings didn’t stop the Clintons from taking in large sums from the Weinstein.
And by boosting his public image through association, the former secretary of State took part in the process that ensured Weinstein would have no trouble continuing to influence future awe-struck victims.
Clinton is part of the problem, and any attempts to depict herself as anything else should be exposed, condemned, and ridiculed. With her history, she has no room to talk about women’s rights.

‘Destiny Readings’? ‘Expert Seers’?: Australian Group ‘Christalignment’ Drawing Concerns Over New Age Practices in the Name of God

MELBOURNE — An Australian group that identifies itself as “Christalignment” is drawing concerns over practices that have been deemed New Age and occultic, including its use of “expert seers,” who provide “destiny readings,” dream interpretations and “energy impartation”—all in the name of God and evangelism.

Christalignment is run by Ken and Jen Hodge, who are the parents of Ben Fitzgerald, a listed missionary with Bethel Church of Redding, California. According to the Christalignment website, Jen Hodge is characterized as a “seer [who] specializes in healing from negative energies/cleansing.”

“The Christalignment team, based in Melbourne, Australia, are trained spiritual consultants, gifted in various modalities. We practice a form of supernatural healing that flows from the universal presence of the Christ,” the site reads. “We draw from the same divine energy of the Christ spirit, as ancient followers did and operate only out of the third heaven realm to gain insight and revelation.”

It outlines that its team members are trained in “destiny reading, Presence therapy, trauma recovery, entity cleansing, relationship alignment and physical healing using divine energy,” and also offer dream interpretations and “encounters coming from the third heaven realm.” Other services noted by the group include “prophetic” henna tattoos, deep rest therapy and color therapy, as well as meditation classes, which are held at various times throughout the year.

Christalignment has a booth four days a week at Dandenong Market, and also offers its services at events such as Sexpo, Rainbow Serpent, the Melbourne Queer Expo and Mind, Body, Spirit.

“Our unique destiny cards, which we have developed, are so accurate that even if your life circumstances change dramatically, on your return to do them again years later, you will find the results identical, such is their accuracy,” the group claims. “They are able to give profound insight into relationships, career and spiritual life.”

Some of the cards read “gifts,” “acts of service,” “quality time,” “words of affirmation” and “physical touch,” and include photos of Christ or other drawings. On the back is a saying that addresses struggles or other issues the person has been going through.

In addition to “destiny cards,” the group also uses Psalm cards, animal cards and color cards for its readings. Each card is stated to have a particular prophetic meaning for the person obtaining a reading.

“Psalm readings are similar to tarot in that cards are counted out according to your birth date date & year. Only three cards are used and these will represent your past, present and future,” the site read—that is, until Christalignment altered the wording within the past month after the matter was reported by Christian blog sites, raising deep concern over what appeared to be a similarity to tarot cards.

The group claims that it purposefully attends New Age festivals and other events where the lost are present to be an “undercover prophetic evangelism deliverance ministry” with the goal of seeing the unregenerate “saved, healed, and set free.” It denies that it is involved in New Age in any form, but asserts that it is rather seeking to work against the movement by bringing people to Jesus instead of psychics.

“The team is trained not only to be able to release deep encounters with the Spirit of Truth to clients, but to also release words of knowledge and healing. For clients to see Jesus standing before them in an encounter is not uncommon, and many of them get born again,” the Hodges claimed in a recent letter to Bethel’s Kris Vallotton following controversy over the matter.

“The prophetic word given over us four years ago was that we would see hundreds of witches come into the kingdom, thousands of people turn from darkness, and that tarot cards would be disabled,” they wrote. “Praise God this is happening!! As a deliverance ministry, we are able to stop clients ever going to a psychic again and this is our aim.”

Vallotton had previously repudiated the use of “destiny cards,” but soon retracted his words by posting the Hodges’ letter to Facebook, remarking that the couple was being “destroyed by the fake news media.”

While Bethel itself has also officially released a statement advising that it is not “formally affiliated” with Christalignment, and that the only connection is that some members are related to the Hodges, it went on to defend the group as engaging in biblical evangelism and doing its part to reach the lost in difficult places.

“Reaching people where they are with the truth and love of God is our job as believers. Many people will not come to our churches, yet they are in great need of a personal encounter with Jesus. The Hodges feel called to share the Gospel with a people group that most of us would feel unsure of how to approach. We value their efforts to minister to unbelievers in the ways they can more easily receive it and in the places they are going, like New Age festivals,” it wrote.

“This ministry is a way of getting people to stop and engage with fellow humans so that they might encounter the love of the Father and the truth of His Son, Jesus Christ. If one of our sons or daughters was away from the Lord and looking for truth at a festival, we would be praying for them to meet believers like the Hodges who know the love and truth of God,” Bethel continued.

It urged those with concern to go directly to Christalignment themselves to work out any disagreement.

However, not only have Christalignment’s practices raised concern among Christians who believe that the practices are indeed modeled after the New Age—no matter how much the group denies it—but so did Bethel’s statement in defense of the organization.

“[W]hen Pulpit & Pen broke the story, Jen Hodge pulled two of her videos that were clearly letting others see they were practicing what is recognized as legitimate tarot card readings. When people gave links to Kris Vallotton from the Christalignment website where it was explained how destiny cards are similar and used like tarot cards, Jen Hodge altered her website,” notes Church Watch Central.

“Bethel leaders suggest Christians are narrow-minded if they oppose creative means of evangelism. This, of course, assumes that using destiny cards is no problem,” also writes Holly Pivec of Spirit of Error. “… What practices would Bethel be willing to repudiate? For example, if a group put together a Christian version of a Ouija board—but called it a destiny board and said they were using it through the power of the Holy Spirit so that people could have an encounter with God—how would this be any different? Where would Bethel draw the line and why there?”

“How does Bethel teach its people discernment? What guidelines do they provide? What biblical support for them? Is their flock expected to trust all discernment to Bethel leaders? If not, how are they being equipped to exercise mature discernment?” she asked. “Why not simply deny affiliation with Christalignment and leave it at that? This looks like a defense of the practices of Christalignment.”

Jeremiah 14:14 reads, “Then the Lord said unto me, ‘The prophets prophesy lies in My name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them. They prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart.'”

Leviticus 20:23 also states, “And ye shall not walk in the manners of the nation which I cast out before you: for they committed all these things, and therefore I abhorred them.”


An Australian group that identifies itself as “Christalignment” is drawing concerns over practices that have been deemed New Age and occultic, including its use of “expert seers,” who provide “destiny readings,” dream interpretations and “energy impartation”—all in the name of God and evangelism. Christalignment is run by Ken and Jen Hodge, who are the parents of Ben Fitzgerald, a listed missionary with Bethel Church of Redding, California. According to the Christalignment website, Jen Hodge is characterized as a “seer [who] specializes in healing from negative energies/cleansing.”

“The Christalignment team, based in Melbourne, Australia, are trained spiritual consultants, gifted in various modalities. We practice a form of supernatural healing that flows from the universal presence of the Christ,” the site reads. “We draw from the same divine energy of the Christ spirit, as ancient followers did and operate only out of the third heaven realm to gain insight and revelation.” It outlines that its team members are trained in “destiny reading, Presence therapy, trauma recovery, entity cleansing, relationship alignment and physical healing using divine energy,” and also offer dream interpretations and “encounters coming from the third heaven realm.”

California Man Who Says He Was ‘Blind’ Without Christ Turns Himself in for Murder Committed 25 Years Ago

REDDING, Calif. — A California man walked into a local television station this week and also turned himself in to the police in confessing to a murder committed 25 years ago, as he said that his faith in God and the weight of living with the secret compelled him to do what was right.

“God and Christ and these things that have happened over the course of 25 years have pushed me and pushed me to do the right thing,” Brian Hawkins, 44, told local television station KRCR. “I know the wrong can’t be changed, but this is the closest I can come to doing the right thing.”

According to the outlet, Hawkins appeared at the station this week and said that he wanted to confess to the murder of Frank McAlister, then 19, who was killed in 1993. Police believe that McAlister had been robbed, and during the course of the robbery, he was murdered and his body left in the woods. His car was found abandoned at a Costco parking lot with a “large amount of blood.”

While Hawkins didn’t want to talk to KRCR about the specifics of the case, he said that he wanted the public to know that he had turned to God, which motivated him to confess to the crime. He said that he was “blind” living without Christ, and that he has felt regret for the murder ever since.

“Every minute of every day has been a nightmare,” Hawkins stated. “It’s kind of weird. Frank never got to have a life, but we were teenagers, and now I’m 44 and still haven’t even had a life, and now most likely won’t anyway.”

He said that he hoped that the community would forgive him, shedding tears at times during the interview. Hawkins shared that he believes God has forgiven him, but he knew he had to confess. He explained that he also sought to reach out to the McAlister family, but Frank’s father died before he was able to get there.

The television station said that it agreed to interview Hawkins, but advised that it would not release the footage until he had turned himself into police, and after authorities were able to corroborate the claims.

Hawkins was subsequently arrested after confessing to the crime at the police station next door, as were his accomplices Shanna Culver, 46, and her brother Curtis Culver, 45. One of the two Culvers also reportedly confessed, although police have not stated which one.

The three had reportedly been questioned by investigators in 1993, but denied any part in the killing. The matter has therefore remained a mystery ever since as nothing connected them to the murder, even though it was known that they were the last to see McAlister.

“I’ve been through Hell my whole life because of this,” Hawkins said, explaining that the guilt had eaten him up and he could not hold it in any longer.

CHICAGO — The president and COO of Moody Bible Institute have submitted their resignations amid controversy over the direction of the historic institution, and in light of the board’s “unanimous decision” for “new leadership.”
The Moody Board of Trustees accepted the resignations of President Paul Nyquist and COO Steve Mogck on Wednesday, according to an email sent to students by Chairman Randy Fairfax. Nyquist, a former pastor and president of the church planting organization Avant Ministries, had served at Moody since 2009.
“As you know, the Board of Trustees has been discussing issues related to widespread concerns over the direction of Moody. Today, we accepted the resignations of President Dr. Paul Nyquist; Chief Operating Officer Steve Mogck; and the retirement of Provost Dr. Junias Venugopal,” he wrote.
“Let there be no mistake that the Board of Trustees holds these three men in high regard for their ethical, moral, and spiritual leadership. They are godly, honorable men to whom we entrust to the Lord and offer our deep gratitude for their years of faithful service to Christ and to Moody. However, we are unanimous in our decision that it is time for a new season of leadership. I ask that you be in prayer for them and their families,” Fairfax said.
According to reports, some students and staff expressed disappointment following an announcement in November that Moody would be closing its Spokane, Washington campus, discontinuing certain offerings and cutting faculty. While some said that the changes were due to decreasing enrollment, Moody outlined on its website that it was “repositioning the ministry for kingdom impact.”

APOPKA, Fla. — Prosperity preacher Paula White, who also serves as the chair of President Trump’s Evangelical Advisory Board, is urging her followers to give a “first fruits” financial offering with the start of 2018, stating that there are “consequences” for those who don’t do so out of “ignorance or direct disobedience.”
“As you remember the Lord your God, according to Deuteronomy 8:18, through your first fruits offering, He gives you the power to acquire wealth to establish His covenant,” she wrote in a post on her website, accompanied by a YouTube video.
“Each January, I put God first and honor Him with the first of our substance by sowing a first fruits offering of one month’s pay. That is a big sacrifice, but it is a seed for the harvest I am believing for in the coming year,” White outlined.
She urged others to do so as well, noting that some of her partners “sow a month’s pay, a week’s pay, [or] a day’s pay,”—whatever is their best. White stated that the offering differs from a tithe—or 10 percent—because it is the whole of the first.
She asserted that “2018 is a year of life and deliverance from struggle [and] it begins right now with first fruits.” White noted that part of the Hebrew word for 18 means “alive” or “living.”

Former Teacher Has Certificates Suspended for Speaking Against Sin of Homosexuality on Facebook

NEWARK, N.J. — The New Jersey Department of Education has suspended the teaching certificates of a former high school teacher who came under fire seven years ago for speaking against the sin of homosexuality on Facebook.
As previously reported, Jenye “Viki” Knox, 56, first came under fire in June 2011 after she posted comments on Facebook decrying the promotion of the homosexual lifestyle Union High School.
The school had reportedly erected a display in acknowledgment of “Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender Month,” which featured popular homosexual celebrities.
“It’s still there,” she vented on her personal Facebook page. “I’m pitching a fit.”
The status then began to spark discussion, which turned into a controversy when others were offended by her comments.
Knox, a born-again Christian who also had served as the adviser for the school’s Bible study group, defended the Bible’s position on homosexuality when others challenged her status.
“God cannot abide, tolerate, accept, go along with sin. That’s why Jesus came and gave his life as an offering for our souls; so we could once again be right-standing,” she responded. “Everything God has created, Satan has perverted, everything! Sin is sin. Wrong is wrong.”

Ohio’s Largest Abortion Facility Launches Billboard Campaign to Claim: ‘Abortion Is a Blessing’

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The largest abortion facility in Ohio has launched a billboard campaign in an effort to urge readers “to reflect on the powerful role that abortion plays in people’s lives.”
The facility, called Preterm, has purchased 16 billboard locations around the Cleveland area to “spark conversation” surrounding its belief that abortion is necessary as it allows women to live however they want without a child getting in the way. Preterm offers surgical abortions up to 19 weeks gestation—almost five months—and medication abortions up to nine weeks.
“Abortion is a normal and necessary part of people’s lives. People from all walks of life have abortions for many different reasons. And each person’s experience is valid,” the MyAbortionMyLife website reads.
“To a parent struggling to make ends meet, abortion may be the best way to love and care for your family. To a young person, abortion may be the chance to graduate. To all of us, abortion is foundational to a just society where we can live life on our own terms,” it asserts.
Each billboard contains a different message in support of abortion, with the phrase “Abortion is” and then a blank that is completed by a thought. Among the 16 billboards include the statements “Abortion is a blessing;” “Abortion is sacred;” “Abortion is a family value;” “Abortion is hope;” “Abortion is a second chance;” “Abortion is liberty;” “Abortion is health care;” and “Abortion is good medicine.”

US Supreme Court Declines to Hear Challenge to Mississippi’s Freedom of Conscience Act

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Supreme Court has declined to hear an appeal of a Fifth Circuit ruling that upheld Mississippi’s “Protecting Freedom of Conscience from Government Discrimination Act,” a bill meant to shelter residents from punishment when acting in accordance with their religious convictions in regard to the institution of marriage.
The court denied the cases of Barber v. Bryant and Campaign for Southern Equality v. Bryant on Monday without explanation, a move welcomed by those on the legal team defending the Mississippi legislation.
“The 5th Circuit was right to find that those opposing this law haven’t been harmed and, therefore, can’t try to take it down. Because of that, we are pleased that the Supreme Court declined to take up these baseless challenges, which misrepresented the law’s sole purpose of ensuring that Mississippians don’t live in fear of losing their careers or their businesses simply for affirming marriage as a husband-wife union,” Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) Senior Counsel Kevin Theriot said in a statement.
As previously reported, the Freedom of Conscience Act was signed into law in April 2016 by Gov. Phil Bryant, who identifies as a Christian. The bill prohibits the government from punishing those who decline to officiate same-sex ceremonies or provide services or accommodations for the celebrations, as well as those whose policies require use of locker and restrooms consistent with their biological gender.

HIV Positive Teacher’s Aide, Track Coach Accused of Molesting 42 Youth Pleads Guilty to Sex Abuse Charges

WALDORF, Md. — A former Maryland teacher’s aide and track coach accused of sexually abusing 42 youth between 2015 and 2017 has accepted a plea deal after being charged with over 200 offenses, including the attempted transmission of HIV.
According to reports, Carlos Bell, 30, was first investigated in December 2016 after a parent contacted authorities in regard to inappropriate text messages that her teenager had received on their cell phone. Bell, who had worked as an aide at Benjamin Stoddert Middle School and the indoor track coach at La Plata High School, was consequently removed from his positions.
A search warrant to seize Bell’s computer and cell phone then led the state crime lab to discover child pornography on his electronic devices, including recordings of Bell having sexual contact with students. However, according to television station WTOP, Bell bought more devices even while under investigation and molested eight more youth until his arrest in June 2017.

Gideons No Longer Allowed to Offer Bibles at Kansas Elementary School Following Complaint

HERINGTON, Kan. — Representatives for Gideon International will no longer be allowed to make Bibles available to students at an elementary school in Kansas following a complaint from a national humanist organization.
The American Humanist Association (AHA) recently sent a letter to the superintendent of Herington Schools and the principal of Herington Elementary School to advise that it had been contacted by the parents of several children who were unhappy with a recent one-day Bible distribution.
According to the correspondence, the Bibles were placed on a table in a commons area where those interested could freely take a copy.
“Your school district has allowed an outside religious organization, believed to be the Gideons, to distribute Bibles to young children at Herington Elementary School. The district’s actions in assisting the Gideons in distributing Bibles to elementary students represents a clear breach of the Establishment Clause of the United States Constitution and we hereby demand assurances that this practice will discontinue immediately,” the letter, written by attorney Monica Miller, read.
It asserted that allowing the Bible placement sends the message that the school and district endorse Christianity.

U.S. Department of State Announces Annual Notation of World’s Most Egregious Violators of Religious Freedom

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of State has announced its annual designation of “Countries of Particular Concern” (CPC) based on observance of ongoing violations of religious freedom.
“In far too many places around the globe, people continue to be persecuted, unjustly prosecuted or imprisoned for exercising their right to freedom of religion or belief,” spokesperson Heather Nauert said in a statement on Thursday.
“Today, a number of governments infringe upon individuals’ ability to adopt, change or renounce their religion or belief, worship in accordance with their religion or beliefs, or be free from coercion to practice a particular religion or belief.”
The International Religious Freedom Act of 1998 requires the U.S. secretary of state to name each year the countries that have been the most egregious violators of religious freedom. Secretary Rex Tillerson has decided to re-designate from the year prior the countries of Burma, China, Eritrea, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan as CPCs.
Pakistan has also been placed on a “special watch list” due to ongoing persecution throughout the past year.
As previously reported, the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) had recommended last April that the Department of State designate 16 countries as CPCs, 10 of which have been cited by the government for years. The six that the Commission sought to be added were the Central African Republic, Nigeria, Pakistan, Russia, Syria and Vietnam.
While it applauded the Department of State for again adding the 10 designations to the CPC list, the Commission expressed disappointment that Tillerson only added Pakistan to a watch list, and that the other countries of recommendation were not mentioned at all.
“The designation of these countries is a key step in ensuring continued U.S. engagement in support of international religious freedom. Although USCIRF agrees with the 10 countries on the State Department’s list, it does not go far enough. Secretary Tillerson should have also designated the Central African Republic, Nigeria, Pakistan, Russia, Syria, and Vietnam,” Chairman Daniel Mark said in a statement.
“Pakistan continues to harass its religious minorities, has state-sanctioned discrimination against groups such as the Ahmadis, and tolerates extra-judicial violence in the guise of opposing blasphemy,” he explained. “As USCIRF has said for many years, Pakistan should be designated by the State Department as a CPC.”
As previously reported, the Commission outlined in its 2017 report it is illegal in Pakistan to defile the Koran or to blaspheme the Islamic prophet Muhammad. Those who violate the law suffer devastating consequences, such as life imprisonment or the death penalty.

Times Square draws massive crowds during the holiday season, a fact ISIS undoubtedly hopes to exploit in a future attack, especially during a time of cheer and reflection centered on Jesus Christ.
Their latest propaganda poster shows an operative dressed as Santa Claus looking out over the crowd in Times Square. He’s carrying a laden bag next to a box of dynamite. The caption on the poster reads: “We meet at Christmas in New York…soon.”

First Lady Melania Trump has been praised for bringing grace and elegance to the Trump White House. This has carried on into the holiday season and shows how proud the Trump Family is of their faith and their esteemed positions.

In a video posted to the first lady’s Twitter account Monday, the elaborate Christmas decorations were debuted. Despite any evidence that President Trump colluded with Russia to win the election, Democrats have continued to embrace the narrative.
President Trump sent out a post on his Twitter feed discussing this issue and what the Left has habitually ignored since he took office. He stated, “Since the first day I took office, all you hear is the phony Democrat excuse for losing the election, Russia, Russia, Russia. Despite this I have the economy booming and have possibly done more than any 10-month President. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
According to Fox News, the liberal media and the Left were likely crushed when it was revealed that Special Counsel Robert Mueller had issued indictments for crimes committed by Paul Manafort before, and not related to in any way, President Trump’s campaign for the presidency.

An investigation that has gone on for more than six months now has failed to yield any evidence that President Trump colluded with Russia to win the election. Yet the Left continues obsessing with the narrative, running with the idea that President Trump’s former advisor George Papadopoulos’ admission of lying to the FBI about his contact with a Russian national, is somehow proof of their claims.
But this admission of lying to the FBI shows no evidence of collusion. Communicating with someone from Russia in itself is not collusion. Nor would it even be considered collusion unless that individual was compensated by President Trump’s team to help him win the election, which didn’t happen.

President Trump’s tweet points to the idea that the Left is absolutely refusing to admit that his presidency is doing wonders for America’s once stagnate economy. Rather than give President Trump credit, they simply refuse to talk about it, preferring instead to discuss his supposed corruption. When they do discuss the economy, it’s somehow attributed to former-President Barack Obama’s efforts and nothing that President Trump has done.
The GDP, which is used to determine the health of the economy, especially small businesses, has had 3.1 percent growth with President Trump. Under President Obama, it was a weak 1.3 percent, coincidentally the same GDP growth during the Great Depression.

Jobs have increased by 1.33 million instead of the 4.59 million lost during the beginning of President Obama’s first term. A stunning difference is that many of the jobs created under President Obama were part-time positions, while many of the jobs created under President Trump are full-time positions. In fact, September saw an additional 935,000 full-time jobs, on the top four of biggest increases in US history.

Perhaps most impressive is that these gains were largely obtained without adding too much to the US debt. As of October, President Trump only added $400 billion, or two percent, to the national debt. During the same amount of time in President Obama’s first term, he added $1.3 trillion, or 12 percent.

The economy has exploded under President Trump, yet Democrats keep thumping the Trump-Russia collusion false-narrative. Are Democrats simply trying to detract from President Trump’s successes?

Perhaps the reason the Left is clinging so much to the Russia collusion narrative is that they want to report on anything other than the successes President Trump has been bringing in. While they call for impeachment and justice for an alleged crime with no evidence, President Trump has been working hard to boost the economy and create jobs.

If President Trump could accomplish this much in the first ten months of his presidency, imagine what he’ll do for the US economy in an entire term, or even a second term for that matter.

According to The Jerusalem Post, an anonymous source revealed a disturbing plan by Israel. They vow to destroy any and all Iranian facilities within 40 kilometers’ of Israel’s own Golan Heights.
The discovery was made after Syrian President Bashar Assad made a surprise visit to Russia recently. During the meeting, President Assad asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to deliver a message to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The message, which was reportedly delivered, was that Damascus was willing to establish a demilitarized zone of about 40 kilometers on the border of Golan Heights as long as Israel agreed not to remove President Assad from power. Reportedly Prime Minister Netanyahu was willing to accept the deal, but would not be swayed from eliminating Iran and the political militants known as Hezbollah.

The interesting dilemma here is that Israel sees President Assad as an enemy by association, according to the anonymous source. President Assad is seen by Israel as a president of the Alawite community. Alawites are a minority group of Shi’ite Muslims based in Syria that has received support from Iran for many years.

But with ISIS suffering major defeats at the hands of US-led coalition forces and Russian backed forces, there exists a power vacuum that many nations are hoping to fill, once again resulting in Iran being pitted against Israel in a continuation of the conflict.

During the fighting against ISIS Israel threatened to bomb President Assad’s palace. Syria responded with threats of “dangerous repercussions” should Israel conduct strikes against Syrian positions. Though heated, none of these arguments resulted in major action.
This proxy war could also inflate into a much larger conflict given that the US has allied with Israel and Russia is backing Iran. With ISIS in the mix, both superpowers have been able to focus their efforts on a mutual enemy, but with the terrorists fleeing into the shadows they might find themselves at odds as their smaller partners go toe to toe.

The rich oil fields left behind by ISIS forces are also likely adding fuel to the fire as many nations could be hoping to profit from the millions of dollars in revenue these areas would bring.
It’s unclear how the US would respond to an all-out war should Russia chose to get more heavily involved in Iran’s rise to power. As federal courts continue to issue rulings on President Trump’s travel ban, it is likely that the Supreme Court will eventually hear the case. For the moment, the nation’s highest court continues to deliver the President temporary-but-significant legal victories on the issue.

According to The Washington Examiner, the Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed Hawaii’s challenge to the 120-day refugee ban established by the President’s Executive Order, citing the expiration of the 120 days–which effectively made the case moot.

The case in question, Hawaii v. Trump, centered on the Executive Order that, among other measures, placed a halt on refugee entry for 120 days. The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals sided with the State of Hawaii’s assertion that the order discriminated based on religion.

The Supreme Court sent the case back to the 9th Circuit Court and has vacated lower court rulings on the refugee ban. This comes shortly after the Supreme Court denied hearing oral arguments for a related case last month.

As Christian News Alerts noted, the Supreme Court also threw out Trump v. International Refugee Assistance Project because the case’s central argument–the 90-day travel ban–expired in September.

Supreme Court Justice Sonya Sotomayor dissented from the order, vacating the lower courts’ judgments. Although America’s ultimate judicial body has now twice ruled in favor of the Trump administration, the issue is not settled definitively.

In light of the expired aspects of President Trump’s Executive Order, as well as the legal challenges to it, the White House rolled out a new travel ban with significant modifications. Most prominently, the new Executive Order makes the travel ban indefinite rather limited to 90-days, as Christian News Alerts reported.

Additionally, the new travel ban changed some of the countries on the restricted list based on those nations’ cooperation with American vetting procedures. The order now includes North Korea and Venezuela, in essence countering the unfounded claim of the Executive Order being a “Muslim ban.”

Nevertheless, the State of Hawaii has already taken legal action against the new Executive Order. CNN reported that Judge Derrick Watson of the US District Court for the District of Hawaii blocked the revised travel ban.

But the White House is remaining firm in its determination to see the Executive Order implemented. As covered by The Washington Examiner, Attorney General Jeff Sessions has lauded the President’s travel ban. “The president’s executive order is an important step to ensuring that we know who is coming into our country,” Sessions said.

The Attorney General continued: “It is a lawful, necessary … order that we are proud to defend and indeed most may not know the Supreme Court has already vacated one court’s injunction against that order and we are confident we’ll prevail as time goes by in the Supreme Court.”

Accordingly, The Examiner noted that the Justice Department Tuesday asked the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals to review the decision that blocked the Executive Order. Any decision by the 4th Circuit Court will likely be appealed to the Supreme Court.

The nine justices who currently sit on that court will ultimately decide whether the President has the national security authority to determine who can enter the country — a right already granted to the Executive Branch by law.

The opioid epidemic has been wreaking havoc in the US for many years, and has claimed many lives.

But it appears that President Trump is finally attacking the threat head-on. According to his Twitter feed, “Effective today, my administration officially declared the #OpioidCrisis a NATIONAL PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY under federal law.”


According to US News, the opioid epidemic affects the deaths of 91 Americans every day from overdose. More than 64,000 people lost their lives to these overdoses in 2016.

What’s interesting about this drug epidemic is that overall death via drug overdoses by teens was in decline from 2007 to 2014, before suddenly spiking and constituting the recent opioid epidemic. The biggest problem with the current opioid epidemic is the drugs used are mostly legally obtained prescription drugs that are misused — either intentionally or unintentionally.

According to US News, a survey conducted by the American Society of Anesthesiologists finds 30 percent of millennials felt it was okay to take opioids without a prescription. It was also revealed that 1 in 10 knew someone who had borrowed opioids from someone who obtained them through a prescription.

CNN reports that while President Trump had originally promised to declare the opioid epidemic a national emergency, declaring it a national public health emergency is actually a much smarter move given the nature of the epidemic.

National emergency declarations are handled by FEMA’s Disaster Relief Fund, which is likely tapped out because of the devastating hurricanes experienced this summer. FEMA was created to deal with natural disasters and emergencies of infrastructure anyway.

Rafael Lemaitre, Obama’s former Communications Director for the White House Drug Policy, says using FEMA funding to fight the epidemic would be “a little bit like asking an engineer to bake a cake.”

Declaring it a national public health emergency, while meant to only last for 90 days, can be renewed continually by Congress, allowing for the declaration to continue so long as the problem remains unresolved. This declaration also allows federal agencies to cut the bureaucratic red tape and provide swifter relief using grant money already within their budgets.

President Trump has called for a two-pronged attack targeting both the abuse of prescription opioids and illegally obtained opioids. To fight the prescription abuse, President Trump suggested a “really tough, really big, really great” advertising campaign. This advertising campaign would spread awareness and knowledge to kids and younger adults about the opioid epidemic and hopefully curb abuse with upcoming generations.

President Trump also stressed the need to build a border wall between the US and Mexico and to enact stricter enforcement methods to stop the flow of illegal drugs into the US. According to Trump, “An astonishing 90 percent of the heroin in America comes from south of the border — where we will be building a wall — which will greatly help in this problem.”

Declaring the opioid epidemic a national public health emergency has met rare bipartisan approval as both Democrats and Republican praised the move to fight the drug problem in the US.

Hopefully, his declaration will spur politicians and medical professionals to find a way to end the opioid epidemic once and for all. And perhaps they can find the catalyst for this drug abuse and begin assisting Americans that–for whatever reasons–are turning to opioids to solve their problems.

It’s been a while, but former actress Rosie O’Donnell has broken her self-imposed silence about President Trump in her most recent interview.

According to The Washington Times, O’Donnell says she’s been doing some soul searching and engaging in “a lot of therapy” recently. O’Donnell stated it’s all because she’s been struggling with President Trump’s election in November. “It was a severe shock to my entire essence and my beliefs in the order in the world,” she said.

O’Donnell alleges that seeing Mr. Trump, who she views as an abuser, become president has caused her to experience Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). “And to think that the man who had abused me so viciously and with impunity for over a decade was now running the country,” she declared.

She went on to claim that the shock of President Trump winning the election made her unable to do her job on the show “SMILF” since shooting began immediately after the election.

O’Donnell claims that the therapy and soul-searching have helped her “cope” with the reality of a President Trump. “I did a lot of therapy, I wasn’t in shock in anymore; as much as I am devastated, disappointed, disheartened, and depressed by the reality of it, I wasn’t in pure panic mode like I was that day and that week,” O’Donnell said.

While it’s impossible to determine the validity of another person’s emotions, many consider O’Donnell’s claims to be a little dramatic. It’s also hard to sympathize with O’Donnell given the ugly feud she’s had with President Trump; a feud that evidence refutes as being one-sided.

According to CNN, the animosity between the two started in 2006. At the time, Mr. Trump was co-owner of the Miss USA pageant and O’Donnell was co-host of The View. Mr. Trump made a controversial decision to give Miss USA Tara Conner a second chance after it was discovered she was using drugs, drinking underage, and engaging in other scandalous activities.

Mr. Trump allowed her to keep her crown if she went to rehab, saying publicly, “I’ve always been a believer in second chances. Tara is a good person. Tara has tried hard. Tara is going to be given a second chance.”

O’Donnell severely criticized the decision, lashing out at Mr. Trump’s character, saying he wasn’t a “self-made man” but a “snake-oil salesman on Little House On The Prairie.” She went on castigating Mr. Trump by claiming his business went bankrupt and by attacking his multiple marriages.

Mr. Trump obviously took offense and lashed back, thus a feud between the two was born that has lasted for over a decade.

Granted, President Trump has said some things over the years to and about O’Donnell that could be deemed as inappropriate and there is no excusing that. But O’Donnell has hardly taken the moral high ground.

USA Today reports that in June, O’Donnell sent out a tweet linking to a game called “Push Trump Off A Cliff Again!” The game allowed players to push a button sending President Trump falling to his death off a cliff.

She even sent out an odd tweet speaking to the North Korean dictator, Kim Jong-un, with cat ears and what sounds like a helium-enhanced voice. The caption said, “we don’t #Resist #TrumpRussia.” In the video, she says, “Hi Mr. Kim Jong-un, sorry if I didn’t pronounce that right. Anyway Sir, um, our President Donald is a moron, don’t listen to him, we don’t.”


It’s understandable that liberals, like O’Donnell, are upset with having Mr. Trump as President, given his success with the economy, his rolling back Obama-era regulations, and his generally dismissive attitude towards political correctness. But to be so mentally impacted by his election to require therapy to cope with it appears a bit extreme.

Conservatives had to cope with Mr. Obama’s DOJ settlement schemes, the Uranium One scandal, having Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State, botching the Iran deal, Obamacare, cultivating the rise of ISIS, Benghazi and many other tragedies and disasters.
