~Saint Valentine~
~Did you know that Saint Valentine was a Roman priest, at the time of the Emperor Claudias, who persecuted the Church? Claudias had an edict that prohibited the marriage of young people.. this was based on the idea that the unmarried men made better soldiers.
It was a very permissive society that Saint Valentine lived in, polygamy was rife. The idea of encouraging to marry within the Christian Church was what Valentine was about..and so he had to secretly married young couples, because of the edict.
Saint Valentine was eventually caught and imprisoned and tortured. In the year 269 A.D., Valentine was sentenced to a three part execution, of a beating , stoning and finally decapitation, all because of his stand on Christian marriage. the last words Valentine ever wrote were to a young woman in a note that was signed "from your Valentine"
