A SHORT DEVOTIONAL ON "DISRUPTIVE MOMENTS"

Scripture text - Peter 1:6-12

Disruptive Moments. What are they? They are times when our daily lives are interrupted by hurts, confusion, trials, disappointments, anything that disrupts us or hurts us emotionally.


4 Disruptive Moment FACTS

1. they will strike -guaranteed. No one is exempt from a disruptive moment.
Everyone has something at one time or another that disrupts their lives and oftentimes, hurts.
The more you follow Jesus the harder they become.
The closer you walk with the Lord, the more the enemy tosses his disruptive moments at us, his darts, anything that will keep us from happiness or keeping our eyes focused on Christ our Lord.


2. Disruptive moments are seasonal.
Disruptive moments are seasonal, and only last for a short time. They will not last forever. Learn to recognize them, then tell the Lord you will need His help to see you through.


3. No reason to be angry with God. There is no reason to get angry with God because you have a disruptive moment in your life that interfers with your joy. Don't let it. Don't allow any disruptive moment to steal your joy.

4. they are survivable
1 Corinthians 10:13 - God will never give us more than we can handle, and you can survive disruptive moments.

v8 - we have Jesus even though we have never seen Him -we all believe in things that we have never seen, so believe that Jesus is there to help you through your disruptive moment in your life.

When trials come, don't cry; but rather, jump for joy instead. Be expressive and get all excited knowing that you are in trial mainly because you are angering the devil, the enemy of our soul.
Is everything bad that happens to us sent us by the devil? Not always. Sometimes they are sent by God and sometimes, God just allows our faith to be tempted to see if we can remain strong.

vs 10-12 - this salvation was revealed in the OT to the prophets and given to the NT church

2 Principles about Disruptive Moments

VS 6 &7 - IT'S A TEST

You are at times tested. If you flunk the test, you might have to take it over again. What that means is how you handle the test, the trial, the temptation, the disruptive moment in your life is whether or not you pass the test or fail.

Unfortunately, if you get an A on the test, sometimes you get to go on to another test, another disruptive moment.

Just know that every time you, as a believer, have a disruptive moment, you can turn to God who is always there to help you. Stay focused. Stay in the Word. Stay in prayer. Let God help you to overcome so that you will not fall short, and especially not fall into the enemy's hands.


v8 Remember that He is with us even though we cannot see Him.

When disruptive moments come, we have:

A test of perseverance. That means that we have the choice to quit, to run or to press through and learn from the experience.

Disruptive Moments can cause real pain and hardship.
2 Corinthians 12:1-7
Nobody will criticize you because you have a disruptive moment in your life. A true believer will stop and pray for you. Don't forget to pray for yourself as well.


Sometimes we want out of the trial/we want it to end but, the Lord says His grace is sufficient for us. Sometimes God allows the pain in our lives, the heartache, and doesn't take it from us.

Do not quit, stop or slow down because of a disruptive moments. You have victory in Jesus no matter what the circumstance? You might have lost your job, going through a divorce, problems at work, problems with parents, or children, all of that is hard to deal with, but let me tell you that you can handle anything thrown at you with God's help. Sorrow doesn't last. We have to learn to rise above it.
Learn to lean on Jesus. The Joy of the Lord is our STRENGTH.
