My faith got stronger 2 yrs ago. I separated from my husband and i left with all that i could pack in a 10 ft uhaul. And I took me and my 3 little girls' and left late at night. Fearing for our safety. I moved back home which was out of state from where we were living. We had no car, no place to live. We moved in with my mom and dad. That lasted all of a few months. Then I got a job and we moved out. It started out as a temporary position. My hubby had threatened me that he would take the kids' away for me if i didn't get a job within 30 days of me leaving him. When i got my job i was scared out of my mind always looking over my shoulder watching everywhere i went. I had people escort me out of work. A few months later my temp position turned into a permanent position. I then started becoming accountable for cash shortages/overages. He affected me so much that I almost lost my job. I was suspended for variances in my drawer. I had always believed in the Lord, but.... As of that 1st day of suspension it opened my eyes.... That i didn't trust enough in the Lord to lean on as i thought i had no one to turn to. My family is not there emotionally for me. But I just had to turn to the Lord. As I started believing in the Lord more and turning towards' him when i needed someone to talk to.... The more things had started to change for the better. Moving on after being separated for over a year I had started the divorce proceedings. About 3 mos before it was to be finalized my hubby commited suicide. Longer story short with my faith, belief and strength the Lord has shown me. I now have a car, i'm just about to close escrow on buying my house. And i'm starting to strengthen the belief in my kids, telling them not to loose faith like i did in my younger stupid days.

Bless you for taking time to share this with us, the Lord moves in mysterious ways. I am so glad your life has turned out the way it has and the Lord surely blessed you and had his hand on you all along and like a little sheep brought you back home. Its just a shame your husband didnt come to know God too.

Cheryl, thank you so much for sharing what the Lord has been doing in your life over the past few years. It's lovely when we see the Lord moving on and trough our lives, as His plans are perfect, even if we can't see it at the time. I'm sorry what happened to your husband tho and pray that even he saw that he needed Jesus and accepted Him in his final minutes. I pray that Jesus will continue to lead you in all things and that you'll see Him bless your family and lead them to love Him too. How old are your children? Mine are grown up, 34 and 33, one is a Christian, one not and I pray for them each day. I'm praying yours will come to know Jesus too.

Mandalee 7, Kaela 6, and Roberta 4. I'm also afraid that he has sexually abused my oldest daughter. I don't know that for sure. I just pray to God that he didn't. And if he did that he touch Manda to get her through this and guide me to be able to help her through this.

Its wonderful to read your testimony of God's dealing in your life and you making the decision to stand and get out of the situation.
It somewhat reminds me of Peter when Jesus told him to get out of the boat and walk on the water, sometimes there is no lifebelt support we can see but blindly step out, not knowing that God will help us.
I can relate and.....
Like you I knew I had to get out of a frightening situation with 3 black bags and two kids I waited until Christmas was over and left at night of Boxing day while he was at the pub. I have written up some testimonies of my life but your post reminded me of this.
I wasn't a Christian at the time, it was many years ago.But...
I truly believe God has his hand on each of us in all our situations whether we are Christian or not and the experiences we have in life in his mercy he is drawing us to himself. As you wrote this is the short version and many of us if we had the time could look back and see the hand of God's leading and protection in our lives. I can for certain say this of my life.
What is such a blessing to read is that you have put your trust in God and things are turning out good. We do have many trials along the way but he is our help in all these things.
I read of your fears of abuse of the children and we have a Focus Board where I and members have expressed on abuse within the family. When you have time mabe go take a look or even begin a discussion thread of your own wording...
that others may come along and minister as they are able.
I have posted up in Old Focus Board where I and my eldest daughter had experienced abuse so feel free to continue on that thread if you wish.
I pray that as the Lord has led you to our group that you will feel comfortable and without fear to open your heart and I pray that you will feel the love, care and support will be of help in healing of what you have endured and any problems which arise in your knowledge or at a future time as it was many many years later I learned of my daughters abuse in fact it only unfolded about 1 year ago, so things are still quite raw for me at this time.
Be assured our God is able to sustain us he sends helps in many different ways and I pray your friends here can be of some help.

Hi Cheryl,
I am not as fluent with words as others that have posted, but i do echo all that has been said, the Lord does help when we talk to Him.

You have shown great courage and love for your family, and deserve all credit, i am not so sure that if it had been me in a similar position i could have held on.

I will continue to pray for you and your daughters, and also your family as a whole, that the Lord will show them how wrong they were not to be there with you to help you through the emotional turmoil that you have overcome.

I have been worried about not getting my house. Everything was on it's last legs. The deal on the house, possibly having to leave the house etc. I got so upset, angry and in a way depressed. Yes depression does run in my family very heavily. So I started to give up and just wanted to be done with this whole buying a house deal. I didn't know what to do. i cried for a day or so. Really scared, not knowing what i would do if i had to leave. In my moments of anger, I didn't turn onto the Lord for strength and listener. I just went with downgrading comments about myself, like it's just my luck that this would happen. I have a huge problem with believing in myself and think very negativly about myself. After a few days I came back to myself and leaned on the Lord. Asking him to help me deal with the situation and to please help me keep this house so that my kids would have an actual home to call their own. And i would be able to leave them this home we are trying to make a home long after i'm gone. And kept positive thoughts that the Lord would do as he sees fit for me and my girls'. Well my paperwork has gone to the county for processing and should be a down hill process from there. I'm realying on a county program for 1st time home buyers.

And the Lord has blessed me again. The house is now mine. It closed the day before Thanksgiving. And I also not only had the Lord watching over me, but that day was the funeral for my Aunt which the services were 2000 miles away and I couldn't go. But they had the services viewable by webcam online. So I got to watch it and somewhat be there. And 5 mins later after they cut the camera off, I got a phone call from my cousin (Realtor) telling me that the house was mine. So another blessing and knowing what i needed.
