Robots now capable of growing human organs
Is there anything robots can’t do? They can perform our jobs, get periods and now . . . grow human organs.  Scientists at the University of Washington School of Medicine have developed an automated system that uses robots to produce human mini-organs from stem cells. According to Science Daily, the ability to mass produce “organoids” promises to expand the use of mini-organs in basic research

and drug discovery. “This is a new ‘secret weapon’ in our fight against disease,” the university’s Benjamin Freedman tells Science Daily. Before, scientists would grow cells for biomedical research by culturing them into flat sheets. But these were too simplistic to truly mimic the ways true cells behaved. More recently, researchers have had some success growing these cells into more complex, and three-dimensional, structures called mini-organs.

governments are stepping up and taking charge of the persecution and outlaw of Christianity.  The government has banned all kinds of religious meetings, meaning no church services, no Bible studies, and no prayer meetings. Not only are they banning religious events but they are calling for people to renounce their faith, particularly in Jesus Christ.

One of the first people shot during the Las Vegas shooting massacre has reunited with the retired firefighter who saved her.  Las Vegas resident Rosemarie Melanson wouldn’t be alive today had it not been for her the “guardian angel” who got her to safety on October 1 when a gunman opened fire on the Route 91 Harvest music festival from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel.  Melanson – a
mother of four — was attending the country music festival with two of her daughters. The tickets were a Mother’s Day gift from her eldest daughter, Stephanie Melanson.  The trio were having a great time at the concert, evident by selfies taken before the shots rang out. “I pulled them by the hand and we went all the way up to the front,” Melanson told CNN. “We were like kids in a candy store. I mean, just so excited.”

Kuwait is a current member of the UNSC. The draft circulated by Kuwait demands that Israel “immediately cease its military reprisals,
collective punishment and unlawful use of force against civilians, including in the Gaza Strip.” The resolution has no chance of passing while the United States remains a staunch defender of Israel’s right to defend itself against infiltrators from the Gaza Strip, so that if the resolution is put to a vote it would be vetoed. However, it would be interesting to see how many of the members, permanent and otherwise, would support the idea.

two weeks created a 20-foot wall of lava on Highway 137. Scientists said the new lava is hotter and moves faster to cover a wider area.  By Saturday night, the lava flow crossed over the highway, cutting off the route for thousands of residents in the Lower Puna communities, officials said.  “(Look at) how huge this thing is,” Herman Andaya with Maui Emergency Management, told Hawaii News Now. “The magnitude in the flow, and everything.”

A longtime licensed clinical social worker who was ordered to be a “social worker first, Catholic second” and then fired because of her biblical beliefs about marriage is suing the agency that dismissed her.   The suit was filed by the Thomas More Law Center on behalf of Kathleen Lorentzen.
Lorentzen had asked permission from her former employer, HealthSource Saginaw in Michigan, for permission to refer a homosexual duo to another counselor for “marriage” counseling. She then was fired. Tyler Brooks, senior counsel for TMLC, said the case shows “that people of faith are under assault in the workplace.”

In an apparent competition among American public school boards to see which sex-education program can be made the most graphic and politically correct, there’s likely a new leader.  In a stunning development, the Fairfax County School Board in Northern Virginia is considering teaching children there is no such thing as “biological sex” and also that “clergy” are not to be trusted if students have questions.  Within just the past few weeks, WND has reported on the Albemarle district in Virginia, which was warned its explicit sex videos to classes of 14-year-old girls likely were
felony violations of state and federal laws.  And the Sunnyside Unified School District in Tucson, Arizona, was warned that its proposed sex-ed program is both “illegal” and “obscene.” Now, according to the Family Research Council, comes the Fairfax board.  “Already, each public school student must suffer through 80 hours of sex ed. That’s not a typo: 8-0,” the report said. “They call it ‘Family Life Education’ but everybody knows that’s a joke. You won’t find lessons on building happy marriages and healthy families here. No, instead you’ll find hour after hour of instruction on your evolving ‘sexual identity,’ on the proper handling of contraceptive drugs and devices, and on how to give consent for sex.”

Just over two months ago, as winter landed its final blows of snow in New York City, Michael A. Walrond Jr. of Harlem’s 10,000-member First Corinthian Baptist Church landed an ideological blow of his own in traditional Christendom.  Walrond, who was named “One of the Lord’s Foot Soldiers” by Newsweek magazine, told his congregants that the belief that anyone who doesn’t believe in Jesus is going to hell is “insanity.”

“There was a time when you would see people in the pulpit say, ‘well, if you don’t believe in Jesus you going to Hell. That’s insanity in many ways because that is not what Jesus even believes,” he said in a viral clip posted to Facebook. People take many paths to God, he argued, noting that he personally celebrates the paths others take in finding Him — even if that path does not involve faith in Jesus. “And so the key is you believe in God. And whatever your path is to God I celebrate that. Personally, I celebrate that,” Walrond said.

The death toll from an outbreak of the Ebola virus in the Congo has hit 26 with fears it could spread to neighboring countries.  The country’s government has agreed to increase emergency-response funding to over $4 million, AP reported. Ebola victims are being provided with free health care. Some 4,000 vaccines were ordered Saturday – but officials may struggle to keep them cold enough to remain effective. An emergency committee convened by the World Health Organization met but decided the
situation didn’t yet merit being classed as a public health emergency and stopped short of calling for travel restrictions. However, WHO warned that nine neighboring countries are at a high risk of being affected.  The U.S. government is preparing its most direct response yet to the outbreak that appears to have begun in April, readying staffers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to deploy to multiple communities in Congo.

West Virginia 7th-graders told to declare submission to Allah
Seventh-graders at a West Virginia public school were asked to write the Islamic declaration of faith in Arabic calligraphy in a social-studies class, drawing outrage from a Christian parent.   Parent Rich Penkoski contacted Principal Ron Branch at Mountain Ridge Middle School in Gerrardstown about the assignment, which was part of a world-religions unit, the Christian Post reported.
The assignment was included in a packet sent home with students of information about the history of Islam, the prophet Muhammad and the five pillars of the religion.  But Penkoski, the Christian Post said, was most upset with a worksheet that instructs students to practice calligraphy by copying by hand the Arabic form of the Shahada.  The Shahada is the Islamic profession of faith that declares Allah is the one true god and Muhammad is his messenger.

WASHINGTON — The Trump administration will unveil its plan for Israeli-Palestinian peace some time in the coming weeks and months, but no decision has been made as to the precise timing of its release, two US sources told The Jerusalem Post on Friday.

Trump administration officials were responding to an article in the Associated Press reporting that the plan would go public some time in mid to late June, barring any unexpected crisis.

Israeli officials have previously signaled to the Post that they expect the US plan would come down shortly after the opening of the new American embassy in Jerusalem, which took place earlier this week.

For weeks, White House officials have said their plan is nearly complete, and that they are simply waiting for the right time to sell it.

"Reports that a decision has been made on when to release the plan are false," a National Security Council spokesperson said. The team, the official added, is "finishing the plan and will be releasing it when the time and circumstances are right." The near-finished plan is the product of a year long policy initiative by President Donald Trump's "peace team"– led by Jared Kushner, his son-in-law; Jason Greenblatt, his special representative for international negotiations; and David Friedman, his ambassador to Israel– to come up with a comprehensive solution to the storied conflict. The document includes detailed proposals addressing core disagreements amongst Israelis and Palestinians.

That is a departure from past US peace initiatives, which left details of a deal up to the parties to negotiate, and instead offered "frameworks" and "road maps" to an agreement. 

Past administrations have also explicitly endorsed a two-state solution to the conflict, resulting in two nations for two peoples– one Jewish, and one Arab. Officials have told the Post that the product of the Trump plan would ultimately result in sovereignty for the Palestinians, but that the document itself is not likely to include "two state" language.

It is not clear whether the plan will be published in its entirety, or parts of the plan will be kept private. Regardless, the Trump team has already begun briefing allies on its contents, according to the Associated Press report.

Officials in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government are braced for a plan that will require Israeli concessions, since Trump said in recent months in person and on Twitter that his decision to move the embassy there from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem put them in his debt.

"We're hopeful we've had enough conversations with them that they wouldn't breach our fundamental security needs– our red lines," an Israeli official told the Post. "We'd be very surprised if that were the case." 

Palestinian envoy to Washington, Husam Zomlot, said last week that the PLO will give the US peace team a fair hearing once their plan is revealed. But Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has said repeatedly that he wrote off the Trump administration as a fair arbiter of the peace process when it decided to move its embassy and to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

The PA has shut down contact with the White House ever since. 

The fate of Jerusalem is one of the most contested points of disagreement amongst Israelis and Palestinians. Trump administration officials say their decision to relocate the US embassy there– on the west side of the city– has no bearing on the future of the ancient city, which Israelis want to keep under their full control, and which Palestinians want to divide.

The peace team hopes that Arab allies can convince PA leadership to give their plan a fair shot– and perhaps of the merits of the proposals themselves. Several of those allies have been critical of Trump's embassy move in recent weeks, but on a recent tour of the US, Saudi Arabia's crown prince, Muhammad bin Salman, indicated that he would pressure the Palestinians to accept whatever Trump has to offer.

Ten people were killed and ten others injured in a shooting Friday morning at a high school in the southeastern Texas city of Santa Fe, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has confirmed. A cross that has stood on a Michigan hillside since 1950 has been removed following a complaint from a local resident who asserted that crosses shouldn’t be displayed on state property.  While the cross is displayed atop Sackrider Hill in the Waterloo Recreation Area, it belongs to the Grass Lake Ministerial Association, which holds a permit to erect the display on state property. That’s the question some experts are asking after Yale University researchers announced that they have successfully reanimated a pig’s brain, which had been severed from its body.   Yale neuroscientist Nenad Sestan revealed the breakthrough during a meeting at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) on March 28. Sestan’s team reportedly experimented on over 100 pig brains obtained from a slaughterhouse and restored their circulation using a system of pumps,
heaters, and artificial blood. The researchers said they managed to reactivate the brains for up to 36 hours. “It’s at the extreme of technical know-how, but not that different from preserving a kidney,” Steve Hyman of the Broad Institute said, via MIT Technology Review. “It may come to the point that instead of people saying ‘Freeze my brain,’ they say ‘Hook me up and find me a body,’” the director of psychiatric research added.

Experts fear an ‘explosive increase’ in Ebola cases after an outbreak in Congo entered a ‘new phase’ and spread to a city.  The deadly virus was detected in the northwest city of Mbandaka, with a population of about 1 million people, the country’s health minister revealed last night.  So far, the 23 deaths believed to have been caused by Democratic Republic of Congo’s latest Ebola outbreak were in more isolated areas, giving authorities a better chance of ring-fencing the virus.

The first urban case to be announced threatens to change that. The World Health Organisation, which on Wednesday deployed the first experimental vaccines in the vast central African country, will decide tomorrow whether to declare a ‘public health emergency of international concern’.  Such a declaration by the Emergency Committee would trigger more international involvement, mobilizing research and resources, WHO spokesman Christian Lindmeier said.

An “explosive” eruption from Hawaii’s Kilauea summit sent a plume of ash soaring 30,000 feet into the air Thursday morning that threatened to cover parts of the Big Island, as residents nearby are being urged to shelter in place. The National Weather Service issued an ashfall advisory in effect until 8 a.m. Friday.
USGS Volcanoes reported the explosion around 5 a.m. local time, showing photos at the Halemaumau crater that captured volcanic ash billowing out. Officials said wind could carry the ash toward the southeast and told residents to shelter in place and avoid driving, due to low visibility and slick roads.

President Donald Trump has pledged to re-impose sanctions against the Islamic Republic.
“I’m privy to the information that the EU is going to shift from dollar to euro to pay for crude from Iran,” the source told the agency.  Earlier this week, EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini said that the foreign ministers of the UK, France, Germany, and Iran had agreed to work out practical solutions in response to Washington’s move in the next few weeks. Isn’t that true of temptation? It takes from us, while at the same time, it looks so appealing. Commentator Klyne Snodgrass states it well, “Mention of the ‘schemes’ of the devil reminds us of the trickery by which evil and temptation present themselves in our lives. Evil rarely looks evil until it accomplishes its goal; it gains entrance by appearing attractive, desirable, and perfectly legitimate. It is a baited and camouflaged trap.” That’s important to note: we can miss evil for what it really is until after it has accomplished its purpose. Only by comparing thoughts and actions to God’s Word can we have the insight to see beyond the circumstances.

In fact, the volcano is in a long chain of 169 others and of those, 50 are poised to explode, said scientists.  The United States Geological Survey (USGS) lists a total of 169 volatile volcanoes across the Western US, Hawaii, and Alaska. The US volcanoes have been active to varying degrees over the years but the ongoing eruption in Hawaii has reminded people of the unexpected dangers of mother nature;
especially considering scientists say that at least 50 of the fiery mountains listed have been deemed by the USGS to be a “high priority” for the scientific monitoring for an eruption.  According to the USGS, “volcanic unrest is persistent” in Alaska and Hawaii. The Hawaiian Islands are at the end of a chain of volcanoes that formed more than 70 million years ago.  Mauna Loa, for example, the world’s largest active Hawaiian volcano and neighbor to Kilauea on Big Island, has erupted 33 times in the last 175 years. A yellow volcanic advisory for Mauna Loa has been in effect since April after a bout of tremors rocked deep underground beneath the volcano.

At least 61 people have died in fierce dust storms across four Indian states since Sunday evening, with officials warning of more bad weather to come.  High-speed winds and lightning devastated many villages, bringing down homes and leaving dozens injured.  The northern state of Uttar Pradesh reported the highest death toll – 38.
More than 70 people had died in dust storms in the state earlier in May.  Officials told BBC Hindi that casualties could go up further.  Twelve people were reported dead in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh, which was also severely hit by the storms. Nine people were killed in the eastern state of West Bengal, while two people have been confirmed dead in Delhi.

Israel faced a growing backlash Tuesday and new charges of using excessive force, a day after Israeli troops firing from across a border fence killed 59 Palestinians and wounded more than 2,700 at a mass protest in Gaza.  Turkey expelled Israel’s ambassador, while Ireland and Belgium summoned Israeli envoys. Leading European countries and the U.N. human rights office called for an
investigation of the bloodshed, and the U.N. Security Council held a moment of silence for the Palestinians killed Monday as it opened discussions on the Gaza situation.  Israel says it has the right to defend its border against a possible mass breach and accuses Gaza’s Hamas rulers of trying to carry out attacks under the cover of the protests. A military spokesman said Tuesday that 14 of those killed a day earlier were involved in attacks.

Disney has stirred controversy in recent years with its depictions of homosexuality in animated features for children, and now the iconic Mickey Mouse ears are available in a gay theme.  Exclusive to Disney World and Disneyland shops, “Mickey Mouse Rainbow Love,” selling for $17.99, can be customized with the wearer’s name in rainbow embroidery at an additional cost, according to the
website Hornet, reported Christian News.  A social-media post with a photo of the Mickey Mouse ears said: “Disney World got gay ears and I need to get them just to [vulgarity] off old religious people.” A Disney representative told the Huffington Post the company offers “a wide range of merchandise items that appeal to guests of diverse backgrounds.” Last October, the Disney Channel teen series “Andi Mack” featured a “coming out scene” for one of its main male characters, noted Christian News.

His blessings have preserved the Jewish people through destruction and disaster countless times over the centuries. He has blessed the nation and its people, and He has promised to bless those who uphold the Jewish nation and to curse those who harm His chosen people. Evangelical Christians believe this to be one of the most fundamental promises of Scripture. But not everyone agrees. An asteroid will narrowly miss striking the planet tonight, the closest an asteroid of this size has been to Earth in the last 300 years.  EarthSky reports the asteroid is 197 to 427 feet, or “as big across as a city block,” Dr. Erin Ryan, an asteroid expert at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, tells NBC News. Sky watchers can see the asteroid fly past at 6:05 p.m. Eastern Time with a telescope.  The Northolt

Israel has told Turkey’s consul to leave the Jewish state, according to the Israeli foreign ministry. It comes after Ankara ordered Israel’s ambassador out of Turkey over the violence in Gaza. “The Israeli ambassador was told that our envoy to Israel was called back for consultations, and was informed that it would be appropriate for him to go back to his country for some time,” a Turkish Foreign Ministry source told Reuters.
The ambassador, Eitan Naeh, was summoned to the Foreign Ministry in Ankara on Tuesday, according to Haaretz. He has served in the position since October 2015.  It comes after Turkey recalled its own ambassadors in Israel and the United States “for consultations” over the violence on Monday. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan referred to the crackdown by Israeli forces as “genocide” and called Israel a “terrorist state,” while reaffirming his country’s commitment to standing in solidarity with the Palestinian people. A Colorado university was forced to backtrack after it questionably demanded a student remove Bible passages from a graduation speech she was elected to give by her classmates. Colorado Mesa University nursing student Karissa Erickson was chosen to address graduates at an event days before their commencement this month, but her speech was nearly derailed by school administrators who were concerned about the religious themes of her prepared remarks.
As the Daily Sentinel reported, Erickson was to speak at the CMU nursing program’s pinning ceremony on May 10. Prior to the ceremony, the student was asked to submit her remarks to school officials—though no formal guidelines regarding what could and could not be said were reportedly ever given—and she was soon told that she would not be able to deliver her speech as written because she cited John 16:33. “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace,” the passage reads. “In the world you have tribulation, but take comfort, I have overcome the world.”

Moses found God in a burning bush, and some North Dakota churchgoers believe they saw an apparition of Jesus in the form of flame at an Easter Vigil mass in March. Amateur photographer Paulette Osborne captured the photo of the burning Easter candle at Holy Spirit Church in Fargo taking the shape of the a cloaked man on March 31, and, while she is cautious about using the term “apparition,” she admits to being wowed by the image.
“You have to be careful because an apparition has to be thoroughly researched and approved by the [Catholic] Church,” she told KFGO radio station. “I mean, it’s a beautiful symbol of the evening and it was so appropriate for that Easter Vigil service. It really cannot be called an apparition.”  As Osborne explained, she began snapping pictures that the vigil mass after noticing a crowd of people gathering around the flame.

The number of cases of sexually transmitted diseases in California reached a record high last year and officials are particularly concerned by a spike in stillbirths due to congenital syphilis, state health authorities said Monday. More than 300,000 cases of chlamydia, gonorrhea and syphilis were in 2017, a 45 percent increase from five years ago, according to data released by the California Department of
Public Health.  Chlamydia and gonorrhea are most common among people under 30, the report said. Rates of chlamydia are highest among young women, while men account for the majority of syphilis and gonorrhea cases.  If left untreated, chlamydia and gonorrhea can lead to infertility, ectopic pregnancy and chronic pelvic pain. Syphilis can result in blindness, hearing loss and neurologic problems.

This past week, Baylor University’s George W. Truett Theological Seminary released a list of the top 12 “most effective” pastors, Christianity Today reported. Popular pastors like Tim Keller, John Piper and Andy Stanley made the cut, along with several other phenomenal pastors.  The pastors come from a

A giant crack measuring more than 400 meters long and 4 meters deep opened up at the border between Tláhuac and Milpa Alta, two of the 16 boroughs of Mexico city, Mexico on May 10, 2018. The day after, the same water main broke up again forming a huge sinkhole, that narrowly swallowed up a nearby house.
Officials are investigating if there could be a link between the water main break, these geological events and the strong earthquake of September 19, 2017.  A large crack nearly 400 meters long and four meters deep damaged at least five houses after the rupture of a potable water pipe.

Yellowstone National Park’s Steamboat Geyser just erupted for the third time in two months, and scientists aren’t sure why.  It doesn’t erupt very often, but when it does, it is the tallest active geyser in the world. The Steamboat Geyser — known to eject a column of water 300 feet in the air — erupted for
the third time April 27.  “It is a spectacular geyser. When it erupts, it generally has very big eruptions,” Michael Poland, the US Geological Survey’s scientist-in-charge of the Yellowstone Volcano Observatory, wrote in an email.  According to seismicity data, the recent eruptions have been a little bit smaller than in the past. Even if these latest eruptions are smaller, they are still impressive compared with, say, Old Faithful.

There are some parents who adopt, or become parents in a blended marriage. But for many, there still is that infinite joy of coming home from a hospital or birthing center with their very own newborn.  Except soon, the newborn might not be all theirs.  A plan developing now would give the federal government ownership of that infant’s DNA, obtained from blood samples taken at birth to
screen for threatening diseases.  The warning comes from the Citizens’ Council for Health Freedom, which has fought for the privacy rights of parents and children for years. “As things stand, in just over two months parents will lose their consent rights for the use of their newborn baby’s DNA for federally funded research, once the revised Common Rule goes into effect on July 19, 2018,” the organization said.

Subtropical Cyclones Don’t Normally Form Near Chile – But One Just Did
I am often amazed at the Earth. It is such an amazing planet. All aspects of weather fascinate me, and my sheer awe of it defined my career pathway early on. When I see something extraordinary, it captures my attention even more. Meteorologists and weather enthusiasts marveled at something quite amazing this week. A tropical cyclone-like feature formed off the coast of Chile. Yep, that one in South America. Technically, it is what we call a subtropical cyclone. What does that mean and just how rare is this?
I want to deal with the second question first. It is very rare. This part of the Pacific Ocean is typically too cold to support the development of tropical cyclones. One of the reasons is that there is a process called upwelling that brings deep, cold water up near the Chilean coast (see diagram below). Chile is also located in a global circulation pattern in which the air typically sinks. Any basic meteorology course describes how latitudes near 20 to 30 deg North (and South) are situated in sinking branches of something called the Hadley Cell.

(By Jentezen Franklin) I’m thrilled to have been invited to join the celebration of the grand opening of America’s embassy in Jerusalem this week. This is a historic moment, and the decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and move our embassy there is the just and respectful move for the people of Israel. Jerusalem is the seat of Israel’s government, and Israel reserves the right to determine its own capital city, as does any other sovereign nation throughout the world.  Israel has survived as a people and as a nation against all odds. They have suffered unprovoked wars, genocide, slavery and every physical and rhetorical attack imaginable. The reasons for standing with Israel are clear and overwhelming, but in case there’s any doubt, here are the five most important ones:
First, God has promised to bless those who bless Israel. In Genesis 12:3, the Lord says of Israel, “I will bless those who bless you and curse him who curses you, and in you all families of the earth will be blessed.” I firmly believe this promise from God is as true today as it was centuries ago. And I take His promises seriously. There’s no denying God’s sovereignty and His hand both in history and in each of our lives. I dare not test God of the consequences for denying our friendship and support of Israel.

(By Ben Goodwin) When I was a kid, my family attended many summer camp meetings in Tennessee. Having a large family, my parents decided to save money on motels by staying at a KOA campground. So we borrowed a huge tent and set up on a spacious, shaded campsite. I’ll never forget the sense of adventure I felt being on a “real” camping trip. It was such a nice campsite we wondered why no one else had claimed it.  Then it happened! While we attended one of the church services, heavy rain pounded our flimsy fortress.
When we returned, everything (our luggage, bedding, food and so on) was either submerged or floating in ankle-deep water. Apparently, everyone else realized that that campsite was on a low spot prone to flooding. I learned a valuable lesson that summer—be careful where you pitch your tent. The book of Genesis tells the story of Lot, Abraham’s nephew, a good man who made some bad decisions that cost him dearly. A conflict erupted between Abraham’s and Lot’s herdsmen over a land dispute about grazing rights. How do molehills become mountains? You just add dirt!

He took just 11 minutes, and Israelis, about to go to war to defend their infant state, were euphoric.  Seventy years to the day — and nearly as long since Israel declared the holy city of Jerusalem its “eternal capital” — the United States will formally open its embassy on a hilltop here two miles south of the Western Wall. The embassy’s move from Tel Aviv and President Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital — reversing decades of American foreign policy — comes at a moment so fraught with both pride and peril that Israelis seem not to know what to feel.

Arab league to meet over ‘illegal’ move…  The Arab League will hold an extraordinary meeting to discuss the United State’s “illegal” move of embassy to Jerusalem, state news agency MENA reported on Monday, citing an Arab diplomat.  MENA said the meeting will be held on Wednesday at the level of permanent representatives to the Arab League “to counter the illegal decision taken by the United States of America to transfer its embassy to Jerusalem”. Washington is due to officially move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem on Monday in a move that has delighted Israel but infuriated Palestinians.

Iran urges global resistance…  Iran denounced President Donald Trump as “feeble-minded” over Monday’s controversial move of the US embassy to Jerusalem, and called for resistance from the Palestinians and the international community. “America has entered a crisis of strategic decision-making that looks at the international arena immaturely and adventurously,” said parliament speaker Ali Larijani, a key establishment figure, at a conference on the Palestinian situation in Tehran.

Yemen Fires Missile at Saudi Oil Facility…  Yemen’s armed Houthi movement launched a missile at a distribution centre belonging to oil giant Saudi Aramco in Saudi Arabia’s southwestern Jizan province on Monday, the group’s al-Masirah TV reported. The Houthis, an Iran-allied group that holds much of Yemen including the capital Sanaa, have fired a series of missiles into the kingdom in recent months, part of a three-year-old conflict in Yemen widely seen as a proxy battle between Saudi Arabia and Iran.

Violence erupts along Gaza-Israel border ahead of US embassy inauguration …  Clashes erupted along the Gaza Strip’s border with Israel on Monday between Palestinians and Israeli forces ahead of the controversial inauguration of the US embassy in Jerusalem, AFP journalists reported. Gaza’s health ministry said 12 Palestinians were wounded. Several thousand had gathered near the border, while smaller numbers of stone-throwing Palestinians were approaching the fence and seeking to damage it, with Israeli snipers positioned on the other side.

A 12-year-old autistic boy was placed in a Juvenile Detention Center on Monday after brandishing an imaginary rifle at his art teacher, FOX 26 reports.  The 5th grade teacher reportedly felt threatened by the child, identified as David Sims, who was arrested by a school police officer. “She (the officer) just put handcuffs on me and told me I need to go with her,” Sims said.
“They just said, ‘We don’t tolerate that. We take it as a threat,'” said Amy Sims, the boy’s mother. “A threat? He didn’t threaten anyone. He didn’t do anything but play.” Amy Sims was not informed of the incident until her son was already in custody, FOX 26 reports. The mother states that because of her son’s condition, he does not understand that “make believe” gunplay on school grounds has become a sensitive matter.

It could be Australia’s worst mass shooting in 22 years. A family of seven including four children was found dead with gunshot wounds Friday at a rural property in southwest Australia in, police and media said. The children died with their mother and grandparents.  The three generations had moved to Osmington, a village of fewer than 700 people near the tourist town of Margaret River, in 2015 to grow
fruit, media reported. Police would not comment on the possibility of murder-suicide, but they are not looking for a suspect. After being alerted by a phone call before dawn, police found the bodies and two guns at the property, Western Australia state Police Commissioner Chris Dawson said. Police won’t say who made the call. The bodies of two adults were found outside a house and the rest were found inside. They all resided at the property, he said.

US President Donald Trump warned Iran on Wednesday there will be severe consequences if it restarts its nuclear weapons program.  In a conversation with reporters in Washington before a cabinet meeting, Trump said he believes Tehran will eventually renegotiate the 2015 nuclear deal with the six world powers.   “I would advise Iran not to start their nuclear program. I would advise them very strongly. If they do, there will be very severe consequence,” he said.

Some 20 rockets were fired at Israeli military bases by Iranian forces in southern Syria just after midnight on Thursday, with some of the incoming missiles being intercepted by the Iron Dome defense system, the army said, amid sky-high tensions on the northern border.  There were no reports of Israeli casualties in the attack. An army spokesperson said damage was caused to Israeli military bases, but that it was “limited.”

Emergency crews ordered Hawaii residents to leave their homes after two new fissures opened up near the Kilauea volcano, almost a week after it started a series of huge explosions. People in the Lanipuna Gardens neighborhood in the southeast corner of Big Island were told there was an “immediate danger”. “The residents … are going through a very difficult time. We ask for your understanding. We ask for your help,” the Hawaii Civil Defense Agency said in an alert.
Kilauea started spewing fountains of lava as high as 300 feet (90 meters) into the air on Thursday. Walls of molten rock destroyed houses in the southeastern corner of the island as deadly volcanic gases rose through cracks in the earth.  Around 1,700 people have already been ordered to leave their properties. No deaths or major injuries have been reported. But two new fissures – the 13th and 14th – formed on Tuesday and started releasing toxic gases, the agency said.

Tens of thousands of fish wash up on popular beach
Tens of thousands of dead fish have washed up on a popular beach. Environmental officials are now investigating the bizarre occurrence.   Residents and tourists in the town of Ar-Rams, in the Ras Al Khaimah area of the United Arab Emirates, woke up to the unusual sight. They say the stench from the dead sardines, which washed up along a 1.6-kilometre (one-mile) stretch of the beach, is keeping visitors away.
The Ras Al Khaimah Environment agency said the cause of the mass deaths was unknown. They are currently investigating the incident.Dr Saif Al Ghais, executive director of the Ras Al Khaimah Environmental Protection and Development Authority, said officials had already met to discuss the incident. A team of investigators had been set up to review the results of tests on the local sea water and on samples of some of the dead sardines.

A series of five temblors struck California in about 18 hours, three of them near the small town of Cabazon, according to the US Geological Survey.  Just before 5 a.m. (8 a.m. ET) Tuesday, two small earthquakes struck within minutes of each other, roughly 7 miles north of the Southern California city of 4,000. Cabazon is about 45 miles east of the Los Angeles suburb, Riverside.  The first quake was a 4.5 magnitude,

Seventeen people in northwest Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have died from Ebola, the health ministry said on Tuesday, describing the fresh outbreak as a “public health emergency with international impact.”  “Twenty-one cases of fever with hemorrhagic indications and 17 deaths” have been recorded in Equateur province, it said, citing a notification to the ministry as of May 3.  It is the DRC’s ninth known
outbreak of Ebola since 1976, when the deadly viral disease was first identified in then-Zaire by a Belgian-led team. In Geneva, the World Health Organization (WHO) said lab tests in the DRC confirmed the presence of Ebola virus in two out of five samples collected from patients. “WHO is working closely with the government of the DRC to rapidly scale up its operations and mobilize health partners, using the model of a successful response to a similar… outbreak in 2017,” it said in a statement.

Israel has deployed multiple iron dome defense systems across the northern parts of the country as Israeli authorities fear an Iranian attack is imminent following the US’s withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal.  Israel has instructed local authorities in the Israeli-held Golan Heights to “unlock and ready bomb shelters” after identifying what the military described as “irregular activity of Iranian forces in Syria”.
The military statement further said that its defense systems had been deployed “and IDF (Israel Defence Force) troops are on high alert for an attack”. The deployment comes as the Israeli defense minister praised Donald Trump’s announcement today that the US will withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal.

President Donald Trump announced Tuesday the U.S. will pull out of the landmark nuclear accord with Iran, declaring he was making the world safer but dealing a profound blow to allies and deepening the president’s isolation on the world stage.  “The United States does not make empty threats,” he said in a televised address from the White House. Trump said the 2015 agreement, which included Germany, France and Britain, was a “horrible one-sided deal that should never ever have been made.”
He added that the United States “will be instituting the highest level of economic sanction.”  Trump’s decision means Iran’s government must now decide whether to follow the U.S. and withdraw or try to salvage what’s left of the deal. A swarm of earthquakes hit southern El Salvador on Sunday, May 6, 2018, damaging nearly 200 homes and producing several small landslides. There are no reports of deaths or serious injuries.  The first quake measured M4.5 on the Richter scale. It hit at 04:04 UTC and was followed by 9 more quakes with magnitudes ranging from 4.3 to 5.6 and depths between 4.4 and 10 km (2.7 to 6.2 miles). The sequence had three M5+ quakes and ended with M5.6 at 19:02 UTC, at the time considered as the mainshock.  The
Associated Press quoted the civil defense director Jorge Melendez saying that 11 homes were destroyed and considerable damage was done to 180 more. “Most of the structures affected were made of bahareque, a material composed of cane or sticks mixed with mud and straw,” Melendez said, adding that one of the quakes produced landslides on a highway leading to Playa El Cuco, one of the most visited tourist beaches in the area.

(By David Ravenhill) I graduated from Bible School in 1964 and have been in full-time ministry ever since. For the first 30 years of ministry I barely heard the name Jezebel mentioned; but all that changed about 20 years or so ago. Jezebel suddenly became the queen of spirits, spiraling to the top of the charts in record time. Ever since then she has taken on a life of her own surpassing all other spirits, and to this day remains by far the most popular and feared of all spirits.
What is so amazing about this unprecedented rise to fame is that nowhere in the Bible do we find such a spirit ever mentioned. Yes, there was a so-called prophetess and teacher in the Church of Thyatira who taught a false grace message that produced immorality, rather than sanctity in the lives of her followers; however, God gave her time to repent. There is no mention of her having to be delivered of some spirit. (Yes, I do believe there are spirits at work today, and that as believers, we have the authority to see people set free through the triumphant and glorious name of the Lord Jesus Christ.)

A team of archeologists has made what could be a major discovery related to the Biblical account of King David.   The team of Israel-based researchers recently uncovered a vast building that dates back to the time of King David’s reign (c. 1,000 B.C.E.). The ancient building was discovered in Tel Eton, in the Hebron hills of Israel, which was, during King David’s time, a Canaanite town that supposedly had close ties with Israel.
The archaeologists first discovered a large, four-bedroom building dating all the way back to the 10th century B.C.E., according to measures taken via carbon dating. The reason this is so significant is that various skeptics have pointed out the fact that fortifications, public works or signs of statehood in the surrounding region dating back to this time had yet to be discovered. But with this latest finding, that point appears to have been proven wrong.

More than 270 earthquakes have been recorded in just ten days near Spain’s Canary Islands raising fears of a volcanic eruption.  The quakes have struck near Tenerife and Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands where there is a huge submarine fault between the two islands. Spain’s National Geographic Institute said the biggest recent quake reached a magnitude of 3.2 on the Richter scale at only about 35km from Puerto La Luz in Gran Canaria. A report said the fault line has not been active in recent times, but it
added, “What if it started spewing magma again? And what if it was reactivating the Teide volcano? That would be cataclysmic.” The Mount Teide volcano on Tenerife sits nearby. The National Park draws three million visitors yearly and the volcano’s 3,718-metre (12,198 ft) summit is the highest point in Spain and the highest point above sea level in the islands of the Atlantic. The last eruption was on November 18, 1909.

verses that discussed sexuality.  School division trustees said that they believed the verses could contravene Alberta’s human rights code. School board chairman Kendall Severson said that was eventually dealt with, but the bigger issue was a lack of co-operation.  “We can’t work together with an organization that’s got legal action against us, and not willing to come together and work on an agreement.”

Plenty of theories were floated on social media Monday night and Tuesday morning about the cause of a large boom that was heard from Everson to Bellingham and west to Blaine around 7 p.m. Monday. According to reports, the boom shook houses, though no reports of damage were mentioned. –

The World Meteorological Organization keeps global temperature records, but not by month, which means Monday in Nawabshah cannot be officially confirmed as the hottest April day. But

experts on extreme temperatures say it probably is. Christopher C. Burt, the author of “Extreme Weather: A Guide and Record Book” and a contributor to Weather Underground, said that 122.4 degrees, or 50.2 degrees Celsius, appeared to be the hottest reliably measured April temperature “in modern records for any location on Earth.” Only one reading might challenge it: 123.8 degrees Fahrenheit, or 51 degrees Celsius, recorded in Santa Rosa, Mexico, in April 2011.

Surrounded by moms and babies, Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds signed a new law Friday to prohibit abortions after an unborn baby has a detectable heartbeat.  Reynolds said she is “100-percent pro-life,” and pro-life lawmakers expressed hopes that the law eventually could lead to the reversal of Roe v. Wade. The bill would require abortion practitioners to test for the unborn baby’s heartbeat before performing an
abortion. If a heartbeat is detected, the abortion would be prohibited except in cases involving medical emergency, rape, incest or fetal abnormalities deemed to be “incompatible” with life. Because an unborn baby’s heartbeat is detectable by about six weeks of pregnancy, the bill would prohibit almost all abortions in Iowa. It is the earliest abortion ban in the United States.

A major 6.9 earthquake has struck near the site of multiple volcanic eruptions on the eastern end of Hawaii’s Big Island. The earthquake, likely the biggest since 1975, was felt more than 200 miles away from the epicenter in Honolulu.  The 6.9 earthquake was the third large earthquake to rattled the eastern end of the Big Island since Thursday. Two smaller earthquakes, measured at 5.4 and 5.0 magnitude,
signaled the beginning of the awakening of Hawaii’s Kilauea Volcano on Thursday and early Friday.  More than 100 earthquakes have shaken the Big Island since mid-day Thursday. For the “first time in the country’s history,” Saudi Arabia has agreed to build Christian churches for its Christian population, which before now has been banned by law from practicing their faith openly.  The Egypt Independent reports the signing of a cooperative agreement between Saudi officials and the Vatican to “build churches for Christian citizens to advocate the important role of religions and cultures
in renouncing violence, extremism, terrorism and achieving security and stability in the world.” The report explains the deal was reached between the president of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, Secretary General of the Muslim World League Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdel Karim Al-Issa and the French cardinal of the Catholic Church Jean-Louis Tauran. “The agreement also states that a coordinating joint committee will be established comprising two representatives for both sides to organize future meetings.

For residents of an Ocala neighborhood that had been forced to evacuate last week due to sinkholes, it seems terra firma has it in for them.  Two more sinkholes opened up in that same neighborhood Tuesday, bringing the number to 12 plaguing the Fore Ranch community recently in this Central Florida
city of nearly 60,000 residents.  Cars, swallowed whole, have sunk into gaping maws as if on a disaster movie set.  “Yeah man, it’s crazy,” Ocala neighbor Eddie Betaseourt told WCJB ABC 20. “I got kids in the house and I want them to play in the backyard, but if a sinkhole opens up, they could get hurt.”

The Trump administration will ask Israel to withdraw from four Arab neighborhoods in east Jerusalem, which will likely become the capital of a future Palestinian state, US officials told Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman during his visit to Washington last week.  The transfer of control over the neighborhoods – Jebl Mukabar, Isawiya, Shuafat and Abu Dis – was presented to Liberman as just one piece of the larger peace plan the administration has been working on over the last year. Israel, the
officials indicated, would be expected to accept the plan once it is presented despite the potentially painful concessions.  News of the demand come less than two weeks before the US Embassy officially moves to Jerusalem on May 14.  The full plan is expected to be unveiled shortly after the embassy moves. US officials categorically denied the report, speaking to The Jerusalem Post. President Donald Trump’s plan has not yet been completed but has entered its final stages of development.

A new California bill is the reason Summit Ministries has decided to cancel their upcoming conference at Biola University outside of Los Angeles.  The Ministry is being forced to cancel due to the possibility that what they teach will go against the new California law. AB 2943 an Assembly Bill that states that any
book or conference that preaches against things like homosexuality or transgenderism cannot be allowed.  AB 2943 states that any biblical books (including the Bible) cannot be taught, and anyone who does will risk being penalized. Same goes for preaching at a conference, hence why Summit Ministries had to cancel their conference at Biola University.

End Time Prophecy General Chuck Missler Dies at 83
Chuck Missler, the founder of Koinonioa House, prolific author and encourager for those who study the Bible, has died at the age of 83.   Koinonioa House, a publisher and conference organizer, announced his death Tuesday.  Missler died peacefully at his home in Reporoa, New Zealand, to which he moved following his retirement from full-time involvement in Koinonia, which is based in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
He was preceded in death by his wife and Koinonia co-founder, Nancy Missler, in 2015.  She founded The King’s High Way Ministries. Both Misslers were raised in Southern California, and they were married after Chuck Missler took his commission in the Air Force and completed flight training. He later became the branch chief of the Department of Guided Missiles, and started and salvaged several private corporations.

A 17-year-old has been arrested and accused of planning an ISIS-inspired mass shooting spree at a North Texas mall.  Federal investigators said Matin Azizi-Yarand was planning to attack Stonebriar Centre in Frisco later this month. According to his arrest warrant affidavit, he sent more than $1,400 to others to buy weapons and tactical gear. And he allegedly wrote a plan to spread his “Message to America” to explain the reason for his attack.
“This is a message for America and any other country that is fighting Islam and slaughtering the Muslims with their fighter jets and other such weaponry,” the message said in part. Azizi-Yarand discussed his deadly plans with a confidential FBI source. Chief Scout Executive Mike Surbaugh also unveiled the group’s new “Scout Me In” marketing campaign aimed at promoting inclusiveness. “As we enter a new era for our organization, it is important that all youth can see themselves in Scouting in every way possible,” Saurbaugh said.
The umbrella organization will retain its name, Boy Scouts of America or BSA. The term Cub Scouts, for kids 7-10 years old, is gender neutral and also will go unchanged. Boy Scouts, which includes kids from 10 to 17, will become Scouts BSA in February. Change has been coming quickly to the iconic if shrinking organization. In October, it announced it would provide programs for girls. The Episcopal Church (TEC) is removing the terms husband, wife, and procreation from its marriage service in favor of creating a more modern, LGBT compliant service. The terms will be replaced with gender-neutral pronouns such as two people or spouse.  The task force proposed several resolutions regarding same-sex marriage and requested commentary from other Church leaders about the matter. The question posed to other churches; “From your perspective and specific setting, what has been the impact of the Episcopal Church’s authorization and use of liturgical rites for same-sex marriage and the
blessing of the same-sex unions on “the-Church?”  Dating as far back as 1976, the Episcopal Church has engulfed itself in a controversy surrounding its goal of becoming a radically inclusive church, regardless of Biblical doctrine. “In 2003, the first openly gay bishop was consecrated; in 2009, General Convention resolved that God’s call is open to all; in 2012, a provisional rite of blessing for same-gender relationships was authorized, and discrimination against transgender persons in the ordination process was officially prohibited; and in 2015, the canons of the church were changed to make the rite of marriage available to all people, regardless of gender.”

Sixty-five percent of the eighth graders in American public schools in 2017 were not proficient in reading and 67 percent were not proficient in mathematics, according to the National Assessment of Educational Progress test results released by the U.S. Department of Education.  The results are far worse for students enrolled in some urban districts.  Among the 27 large urban districts for which the Department
of Education published 2017 NAEP test scores, the Detroit public schools had the lowest percentage of students who scored proficient or better in math and the lowest percentage who scored proficient or better in reading. Only 5 percent of Detroit public-school eighth graders were proficient or better in math. Only 7 percent were proficient or better in reading. In the Cleveland public schools, only 11 percent of eighth graders were proficient or better in math and only 10 percent were proficient or better in reading.

The ancient ruins of a Christian refuge or early church dating as far back as the first centuries of the Roman Empire were recently discovered in Manbij, Syria. The area, which was formerly under ISIS control, managed to escape the attention of the terror group known for destroying churches and other Christian artifacts of the regions they conquer.
ISIS invaded Manbij in 2014. During this time, Abdulwahab Sheko, head of the Exploration Committee at the Ruins Council in Manbij, was studying the area. In an interview with Fox News, Sheko noted that the site was lucky to have escaped the group’s attention. He kept quiet about the ruins until 2016, when ISIS was driven out by the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

The number of Americans sickened each year by bites from infected mosquitoes, ticks or fleas tripled from 2004 through 2016, with infection rates spiking sharply in 2016 as a result of a Zika outbreak, U.S. health officials said on Tuesday.   The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that some 96,075 diseases caused by bites by mosquitoes, ticks and fleas were reported in 2016, up from 27,388 in 2004, in an analysis of data from the CDC’s National Notifiable Diseases Surveillance System.
Infections in 2016 went up 73 percent from 2015, reflecting the emergence of Zika, which is transmitted by mosquitoes and can cause severe birth defects. Zika was the most common disease borne by ticks, mosquitoes and fleas reported in 2016, with 41,680 cases reported, followed by Lyme disease, with 36,429 cases, almost double the number in 2004.

Thousands of dead fish have ended up in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, and experts still aren’t sure why. “We got first reports on Friday afternoon around–between Key Bridge and Fort McHenry, and by Saturday it spread to the Lighthouse Point Marina near Canton,” according to Blue Water Baltimore’s Waterkeeper Angela Haren.
Maryland’s Department of Environment estimates as many as 30,000 fish died, nearly all of them Atlantic menhaden. In the past, fish kills have been triggered by algae blooms, which use up all the dissolved oxygen in the water, but not this time. “We’re still doing testing,” Haren said. “At this point, it looks like there’s no harmful algae bloom.”

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said Tuesday that the company has already begun to implement a system that ranks news organizations based on trustworthiness, and promotes or suppresses its content based on that metric.  Zuckerberg said the company has gathered data on how consumers perceive news brands by asking them to identify whether they have heard of various publications and if they trust them.
“We put [that data] into the system, and it is acting as a boost or a suppression, and we’re going to dial up the intensity of that over time,” he said. “We feel like we have a responsibility to further [break] down polarization and find common ground.” Zuckerberg met with a group of news media executives at the Rosewood Sand Hill hotel in Menlo Park after delivering his keynote speech at Facebook’s annual F8 developer conference Tuesday.

Quakes continue to rattle Iran as 5.2-magnitude earthquake shakes region
Iran’s state TV is reporting a 5.2-magnitude earthquake in a remote, mountainous region in the country’s south, with no immediate word on casualties or damage.  It says the temblor rocked the town of Sisakht, some 700 kilometers (430 miles) south of Tehran, on Wednesday.
The town has a population of 10,000. Iran is prone to near-daily earthquakes as it sits on major fault lines. In November, a 7.2-magnitude quake hit western Iran, killing more than 600. In 2003, a 6.6 magnitude quake flattened the historic city of Bam, killing 26,000 people.

An elementary school teacher in Alabama says that she was sent home last week to change after she arrived in a t-shirt that read “Just Pray,” which she had purchased in support of a young girl with an inoperable brain tumor.  Chris Burrell, a third-grade teacher at Pearl Haskew Elementary School in Irvington, says that she wore the shirt on April 23 not thinking that it would pose an issue. She had purchased it last year in a fundraiser for 11-year-old Aubreigh Nicholas, who was diagnosed with diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma in September.
“I purchased this shirt to raise money for #AubreighsArmy. I thought it was fitting to wear today since my kids were testing,” she said in a social media post. “I didn’t think twice about it. I wasn’t trying to promote religion; it was just my Monday feel good shirt.” However, when the principal saw Burrell wearing a shirt with the word “pray” on it, she asked the teacher if she could put a sweater on to cover the wording.

A 14-year-old male eighth grader at Tavares Middle School in Lake County, Florida brought home a printed note last Friday, given to him by his teacher, encouraging him to participate in the “Day of Silence.”  GLSEN, which stands for the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network, designated Friday, April 27 as “a student-led national event where folks take a vow of silence to highlight the silencing and erasure of LGBTQ people at school.”
Some of the GLSEN coercion includes allowing students “supportive” of “Day of Silence” to refrain from verbal participation in classroom instruction, while those who do not participate in “Day of Silence” must prepare to answer class questions. The middle school student’s note from his teacher read: “I’m staying silent on GLSEN’s Day of Silence. It’s a national youth movement highlighting the silencing and erasure of LGBTQ people at school. Nearly 4 in 5 LGBTQ students don’t see positive LGBTQ representation in their curriculum, nearly 9 in 10 experience verbal harassment, and almost a third miss school for feeling unsafe or uncomfortable.

Turkey, a member of NATO along with the United States, for years was regarded as a moderate Muslim nation with Western leanings.  But it recently has taken a sharp turn toward full-blown Islamic law and persecution of non-Muslims. It just got worse, with a statement from a high government official that Turkey wants all governments across Europe to criminalize “Islamophobia,” which would include any negative comment about the religion.
The report comes from Uzay Bulut, a journalist from Turkey who has worked with the Haym Salomon Center. She’s currently based in Washington and writes at the Gatestone Institute. She wrote in a recent report for the Foundation for Political, Economic and Social Research that Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Çavuşoğlu called on EU governments to criminalize “Islamophobia.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday said Israeli intelligence had obtained a trove of “secret” documents outlining a clandestine nuclear program in Iran. On Sunday, Syria got rocked by a missile attack that appeared to ignite a munitions depot hard enough to register as a 2.6 magnitude earthquake and is believed to have killed dozens of Iranians. Experts say the strike was most likely carried out by Israel.

Though Tehran has denied that Iranians died in the strike, a more aggressive posture toward Iran by Israel could bring about a major clash that experts say might lead to the biggest war the Middle East has ever seen. The perpetrator of Sunday’s attack hasn’t been confirmed. “The majority of babies of people who have good health coverage will be conceived this way,” he predicts. The research Greely points to so far only involves mice in which ordinary cells are turned into sperm and eggs. If such technology can be replicated in humans, Greely believes, most babies would be born using it by the time today’s children are reproducing. If so, it would mean a woman who wants to get pregnant could produce dozens more eggs without harvesting some of her own ovaries.

The Syrian army confirmed Sunday that several military bases in northern Syria were struck in an attack blamed on Israel by the Hezbollah-affiliated newspaper Al Akhbar. According to official news agency SANA, a military source said that “some military sites in the countryside of Hama and Aleppo provinces were exposed at 10:30 PM to a new aggression with hostile rockets.” The explosions following the strike
registered as a 2.6 magnitude earthquake by the European Mediterranean Seismological Center, but the weapons used did not cause the quake. Over 18 people were killed and another 60 were wounded, Sky News Arabia reported citing regime media. Al Akhbar reported the targets of the strike were Syrian army bases being used by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps and Shi’ite militias with troops from Lebanon, Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Hezbollah’s Al Mayadeen reported missiles also struck targets in the Al-Malikiyah area, north of the Aleppo’s airport.

The National Weather Service in Morristown tweeted out information from USGS about a 3.1 magnitude earthquake shaking homes near Morristown on Sunday. It was originally reported as a 2.8 magnitude. The earthquake happened right around 6:30 p.m. Sunday night. It appears to have happened near the Hamblen County and Grainger County border, north of both Rutledge and Morristown. Multiple viewers
say they felt their homes shake during the quake. Earlier this week on Wednesday, a 2.9 magnitude earthquake rattled the Mascot community. The small quakes are common in East Tennessee. Many counties across the area have seen at least one minor quake within in the 2-3 magnitude range within the last year.

Yellowstone National Park geologists have reported the third eruption from the world’s largest active geyser in the past six weeks. The National Park Service says a park visitor reported seeing a rare eruption of Steamboat Geyser on Friday.
Park geologists compared the report with seismic activity and the discharge of water and concluded the eruption probably started at 6:30 a.m. The geyser also erupted on March 15 and April 19. All three eruptions were smaller than the last major eruption that occurred on Sept. 3, 2014.

Looks like a bunch of New Jersey residents survived the winter. But that is not really good news. On Friday, the New Jersey Department of Agriculture announced the latest follow-up to what was described in a February 2018 publication in the Journal of Medical Entomology. The publication detailed an “uptick” in the New Jersey population that occurred last Summer. On August 1 , 2017, after shearing a 12-year-old Icelandic sheep named Hannah, a farmer went to the Hunterdon County Health Office with
some new companions. Thousands of them, in fact. No, she didn’t form a flash mob. Instead, she had thousands of ticks covering her body. Yes, you can say ewe and ewwwww. What was particularly disturbing about this situation (besides the fact that she was covered with thousands of ticks) was that this was a tick species not typically found in the United States. And it certainly wasn’t one of the 5 tick species that were known to be present in New Jersey, which, of course, you know are Ixodes scapularis, Amblyomma americanum, Dermacentor variabilis, Rhipicephalus sanguineus, and Ixodes cookei.

Powerful explosions have been heard in the countryside of Hama and Aleppo provinces, the Syrian state news agency reports. The state media says military bases there were hit by rockets launched by an unspecified enemy.  The alleged attacks were reported by Syria’s Sana news agency on Sunday evening. Citing a military source, it said that “a new aggression with hostile missiles” took place at around 10:30 pm local time, targeting military positions in the Hama and Aleppo villages.  A Syrian law enforcement
source told RIA Novosti that the army’s munition depots were hit, in what was most likely an airstrike. The source said one of the targeted military sites was a munition depot belonging to the Syrian Army’s 47th Brigade. A fire at the depot broke out as a result of the attack, he said. Another target was reportedly a munition depot to the east of Aleppo, in northern Syria, located between the Al-Malikiayh and Al-Nayrab airport.

UPDATE: Romaine lettuce outbreak leaves 98 people sick in 22 states
A nasty strain of bacteria that can cause severe illness is what’s driving a food poisoning outbreak linked to romaine lettuce, health officials said Friday.  The government now has reports of 98 people who got sick in 22 states. Forty-six people have been hospitalized, including 10 with kidney failure, which is an unusually high number of hospitalizations. The outbreak has been blamed on E. coli bacteria in romaine lettuce grown in Yuma, Arizona.
While most E. coli bacteria are not harmful, some produce toxins that can cause severe illness.  The growing season in Yuma is pretty much over, but it’s possible some illnesses will still occur, said Matthew Wise of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The most recent illness began on April 20. In the meantime, people should not buy or eat romaine unless they know it’s not from Yuma. The Yuma region provides most of the romaine sold in the U.S. during the winter.

NASA says 5 ‘close’ asteroid flybys will take place today
The Earth will experience a number of (relatively) close calls in one day, as NASA reports that an alarming total of five asteroids will hurtle towards – but happily not quite at – our planet.  The Center for Near Earth Object Studies at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California publishes a comprehensive list of space rocks that are worth keeping an eye on, just to prepare yourself for any potential armageddons or extinction-level collisions.
These rocks can range in size from a few meters in length to asteroids more akin to skyscrapers.  The series of space rock flybys begins at 10:29 UTC Sunday as asteroid 2013 US3, traveling at a respectable 7.69 km/s (27,646 kph) with a diameter of between 160-360 meters whizzes past us. For comparison, the Eiffel Tower measures 324 meters from ground to tip. Next up are asteroids 2018 GO4 and 2018 GY1, which are expected to scream past us at 12:34 and 18:20 UTC respectively.

A major group fighting to save the world from catastrophic events has made a stark warning about the rogue space rocks.  The B612 Foundation is made up of former astronauts and scientists who focus on defending Earth from the apocalypse. In 2005, Nasa said 90% of discovered asteroids which are at least 140m in diameter pose no immediate threat. But millions of asteroids in the 15m to 140m range are “near-Earth”

And it is estimated only around 18,000 are tracked globally and the majority are not even monitored, reports News.com.au.  Lasers and nuclear weapons could hypothetically be used to destroy an incoming asteroid, however the experts believe we wouldn’t even know about the asteroids until they hit. B612 foundation president Danica Remy said that operational telescopes can only pick up a small number of asteroids. “The telescopes’ field of view is very small and the sky is very big,” Ms Remy said.

Conservative economists Arthur Laffer and Stephen Moore are predicting a new mass exodus of wealth from New York and California because of the new tax law. But academics who have studied taxes and migration call the forecast “pure nonsense.”  In an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal headlined “So Long, California. Sayonara, New York,” Laffer and Moore (who have both advised President Donald Trump)
say the new tax bill will cause a net 800,000 people to move out of California and New York over the next three years. The tax changes limit the deduction of state and local taxes to $10,000, so many high-earning taxpayers in high-tax states will actually face a tax increase under the new tax code.

Bringing an end to the current unactual state of armistice and
establishing a robust peace regime on the Korean peninsula is a historical mission that must not be delayed any further,” the declaration read in part.  The two countries also agreed “to actively seek the support and cooperation of the international community for the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.”  Jong Un and Jae-in rose to their feet after the signing and shook hands, pausing for the cameras.

A debate is raging in the comments of a Facebook post that shows several teenagers saying grace at a local Longhorn Steakhouse before their prom.  Frank Somerville, a journalist at KTVU in Oakland, Calif., had been sent the photo by one of the teens’ mothers, according to his Facebook post. He shared the photo with his followers Tuesday, along with a note from the young woman’s mother.  “I want to share a
picture of my daughter and her friends from prom night,” a woman Somerville identified as “Noelle Smith” was quoted as saying. “Now with the stories today about teenagers and tide pods and condoms gathering headlines — this picture speaks for itself.”  The woman also added that she was “so impressed” with the group. “They all said Grace before eating and were all well behaved.”

Christians in Nigeria suffered a second mass-scale slaughter in the space of a few days, according to reports, after Muslim Fulani herdsmen attacked villages in Benue state this week, leading to the deaths of at least 39 people.  Morning Star News reported of several attacks throughout the state that targeted Christian communities, including one on Tuesday night on the predominantly Christian Tse-Umenge,
Mbakpase and Tse-Ali villages, where 160 houses were burned down. Mbakpase resident Alice Terwase explained that the attackers wore army camouflage and carried AK-47 weapons.  “The herdsmen destroyed more than 60 houses in our village, and three members of my community were also killed during the attack,” Terwase told the news service.

Although some 80 percent of Americans say they believe in God, only a slim majority of the nation’s approximately 327 million people believe in God as described in the Bible, according to results of a new study released by the Pew Research Center. And among those younger than 50, belief in the God of the Bible drops lower than 50 percent.  The findings from the survey of more than 4,700 adults conducted nationwide between Dec. 4–18, 2017, reveal that one-third of Americans say they do not believe in the God of the Bible, but believe there is some other higher power or spiritual force in the universe. Applying these results to the general population, that translates to approximately 109 million people who believe
in a higher power that is not the God of the Bible.  Only 56 percent of the people surveyed indicated that they believe in God “as described in the Bible” and the strongest supporters of this response were Christians who self-identified as members of the historically black Protestant and evangelical traditions. Some 92 percent of those who identified with the historically black Protestant tradition said they believe in God as described in the Bible while 91 percent of those who identified as evangelicals support that position. These groups also overwhelmingly supported the view that God is all-loving, all-knowing and all-powerful.

Direct conflict between Israeli and Iranian forces is increasingly likely in Syria as Tehran pursues a permanent military presence there, US Secretary of Defense James Mattis warned on Thursday.  Addressing a congressional panel before hosting his Israeli counterpart, Avigdor Liberman, at the Pentagon, Mattis said it was “very likely” from his perspective, “because Iran continues to do its proxy work there through Hezbollah.”   Receiving Liberman, Mattis told reporters that he saw no reason for Iran to ship advanced missiles to Hezbollah through Syria except to threaten Israel.  “I can see how it
might start, but I am not sure when or where,” the secretary told lawmakers. Mattis then echoed Liberman’s warning from earlier in the day, issued through a Saudi newspaper, in which he said Israeli forces would strike Tehran if Iranian missiles ever hit Tel Aviv. The two met at the Pentagon after Liberman met with US President Donald Trump’s national security advisor, John Bolton; his special representative for international negotiations, Jason Greenblatt; and his son-in-law and senior adviser, Jared Kushner, at the White House.

Authorities in Algeria’s north-eastern city of Tizi-Ouzou, in the Kabylie region, have closed down a day care center for Christian children.  The Early Childhood Home was established more than 10 years ago by Eglise Protestante du Plein Evangile (The Full Gospel Protestant Church), also known by its French acronym EPPETO.  EPPETO is the biggest church in Algeria. It welcomes 1,200 members for its weekly
services and oversees 15 other smaller churches in the region. On April 17, the pastor of the church was summoned to the Central Police Station, where he was given a notification (issued by the Governor of Tizi-Ouzou region) to seal the door leading to the care center, which is located on the premises of his church. The authorities accused Pastor Salah Chalah of “unlawfully” running the center, which has been ordered to remain closed “until the situation is administratively settled”.

A “toolkit” that offers kids tips on using sex toys and doing things that cannot be written in this article is one of the controversial aspects, and parents may not be able to opt out. Our arrogance as a state, and as a nation, is appalling. School districts throughout California should be held accountable. I pray that school districts don’t cave into political correctness; difference makers should make a difference. Many would rather save their job then protect children. God help us! You may
say, “Times change.” And you are correct, but God’s standards do not change. The sin that once amazed us now amuses us; just look at what is considered “entertainment” today. When sin begins to amuse us, we are dangerously close to the edge. No matter how many laws are passed in favor of same-sex marriage, or how many volumes of sex ed are printed, it will not change God’s mind. It’s been said that if you tell a lie long enough and often enough, people will begin to believe it. And isn’t that true? On Friday, April 27, high schools (and many middle schools) across the country will be hosting the LGBT movement’s annual “Day of Silence.”  During this all-day event, student activists and even school officials encourage students to be silent for the entire day as a sign of solidarity with the international LGBT movement. Students are encouraged to wear special pro-homosexual badges, sticker, and bracelets—which are often handed out at the school entrances that day.
There are also pro-LGBT posters in the hallways, handouts and even workshops. Although the adult activists claim that the “Day of Silence” (DOS) is put together by “students,” it is in fact organized behind the scenes by adults with the enthusiastic cooperation of school officials. They use materials and instructions from a national homosexual activist group. You can actively oppose this hijacking of the classroom for political purposes and help depoliticize the learning environment by keeping your child out of school if your child’s school participates,

Christian Woman in Pakistan Dies After Being Set on Fire for Refusing to Convert to Islam.
A Christian woman in Pakistan died on Sunday night (April 22) after a Muslim in the Sialkot area set her on fire for refusing to convert to Islam and marry him, relatives said.  Muhammad Rizwan Gujjar poured kerosene on 25-year-old Asma Yaqoob and set her on fire on Wednesday (April 17), resulting in burns on 80 percent of her body, sources said. She and her father, Yaqoob Masih, and her brother Maqsood were
at the house where she worked as a domestic worker for Saeeduz Zaman in the Mohalla Pakpura area when the attack took place, according to a police report. Masih, a resident of Mohalla Bogara near Hajipura, stated in the police First Information Report (FIR 171/18) that he and his son had gone to Zaman’s house at 11 p.m. to meet Asma and inquire after the health of Zaman’s ailing mother.

RUMORS OF WAR: Arms shipments from Iran into Syria may be used against Israel
US intelligence is monitoring shipments of weapons systems from Iran into Syria that might be used by Bashar Assad or Iranian forces, CNN reported on Wednesday.  According to the report, the United States and Israel fear the cargo could contain arms that may eventually be directed against Israel. The flights were tracked in the days following the US’s April 14 strike on Syrian regime targets.
According to the CNN report, at least two flights by Syrian Air Force IL-76 cargo jets, as well as one Iranian cargo jet, “caught US attention.” Weapons shipments from Iran to Syria are not uncommon. The US Treasury Department has already blacklisted Iran Air, Mayan Air and Yas Air for supporting the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

DEVELOPING: Emergency declared as explosion rips through oil plant injuring at least 20
An explosion has ripped through an oil refinery and an emergency has been declared – with at least 20 casualties. Firefighters rushed to the scene at the Husky oil refinery in Superior, Wisconsin, after a blast at the plant.  Workmen inside the building said the explosion sounded like a “sonic boom”.  The refinery had been shut down for maintenance when the explosion occurred –
which was described as the “most dangerous time”. Superior Police urged people to avoid the area and roads surrounding the plant were closed down. Employees on the site have been evacuated from the scene as the fire crews battled the blaze. At least 20 people have been injured in the explosion, but there are not believed to be any fatalities.

The archipelago nation east of Australia is attempting to evacuate all 11,000 people who live on Ambae Island to nearby Santo Island because of ongoing eruptions at the Manaro volcano, according to the Guardian. A state of emergency was declared and many people began having respiratory problems as the smoke and ash from the eruption filled the air, the report added. Evacuations were even more difficult because of heavy rain that triggered flooding and mudslides, the Guardian also said. Vanuatu’s leaders
are also keeping an eye on several other volcanoes rumbling on islands near Ambae, Radio New Zealand reported.  “It is really challenging for the affected community, it is their home and all they know, they’ve been there for their entire life,” Cate Heinrich, UNICEF Pacific’s chief of communications, told the Guardian. “At the moment, our priority is helping women and children who have been affected, making sure children have safe spaces and helping them begin to process and understand what is happening to their home, using techniques like drawing.”

While Iran is busy threatening to destroy Israel, They are once again jolted with another strong earthquake, making this the third earthquake to strike the region in a month. An earthquake of magnitude 5.2 struck a town near the Iranian capital Tehran on Wednesday night, state media reported, but there were no initial reports of casualties or significant damage.  Last month, a 7.3-magnitude earthquake hit villages and towns in Iran’s western Kermanshah province along the mountainous border with Iraq, killing 620 people and injuring thousands of others.
Authorities said they were gathering information about the latest quake, which hit in the late evening at a depth of 7 km (4 miles). They asked residents to remain calm but be prepared for possible aftershocks. The epicenter of the quake was 3 km from the city of Malard, and not far from Meshkin Dasht, which sits about 50 km west of Tehran, state news agency IRNA said. The quake was also felt in Alborz, Qazvin, Qom, Gilan and Markazi provinces, according to state media.

Earthquake rattles Los Angeles, San Bernardino and Moreno Valley in California
California was hit by the earthquake at 9.52am (5.52pm BST).  The earthquake hit 96km from LA, 16km from San Bernardino and 5km from Moreno Valley.  Earthquake tracker CSEM-EMSC said the quake struck at a depth of 14km. The website said more than 400,000 people lived in the ‘felt area’ of the
California earthquake. One resident described the quake, which registered a relatively weak 3.2 magnitude, as “very loud and strong”. The earthquake was originally registered at 3.4 magnitude.  One said: “It was very strong and loud considering we are so far from the epicentre.” Another said: “In Moreno Valley. Rumble then quick, hard jolt.” A third said: “House shook for about five seconds.”

Will Belgium become the first Islamic state In Europe?
The French acronym of Belgium’s ISLAM Party stands for “Integrity, Solidarity, Liberty, Authenticity, Morality”. The leaders of the ISLAM Party apparently want to turn Belgium into an Islamic State. They call it “Islamist democracy” and have set a target date: 2030.  According to the French magazine Causeur, “the program is confusingly simple: replace all the civil and penal codes with sharia law. Period”. Created on the eve of the 2012 municipal ballot, the ISLAM Party immediately received impressive results. Its numbers are alarming.

The effect of this new party, according to Michaël Privot, an expert on Islam, and Sebastien Boussois, a political scientist, could be the “implosion of the social body”. Some Belgian politicians, such as Richard Miller, are now advocating banning the ISLAM Party.  The French weekly magazine Le Point details the plans of the ISLAM Party: It would like to “prevent vice by banning gaming establishments (casinos, gaming halls and betting agencies) and the lottery”. Along with authorizing the wearing the Muslim headscarf at school and an agreement about the Islamic religious holidays, the party wants all schools in Belgium to offer halal meat on their school menus.

Pig brains have been kept alive outside their bodies for the first time as part of a controversial new experiment.  The brains of hundreds of pigs survived for up to 36 hours after the animals had been decapitated, researchers revealed.  The radical experiments could pave the way for brain transplants and may one day allow humans to become immortal by hooking up our minds to artificial systems after our natural bodies have perished.
Scientist Dr Nenad Sestan, who led the Yale University team, disclosed his methods in a meeting at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland.  Researchers were able to successfully remove the heads of between 100 and 200 pigs and resuscitate their brains while detached from the body. The organs were connected to a closed-loop system the scientists dubbed ‘BrainEX’ that pumped key areas with artificial oxygen-rich blood to sustain life.

(By Dr. Michael Brown) You may have thought I was overstating things in my recent article, “Will California Go from Banning Religious Books to Burning Them?” You may have thought I was exaggerating when I referenced LGBT activists who compared Christian conservatives to ISIS and Al-Qaeda. Be assured that there was not a word of hyperbole in what I wrote. The truth is unsettling enough.  To put things in perspective, when Barak Obama ran for president in 2008, he stated clearly that marriage was the union of one man and one woman. And he knew he needed to do this to win the conservative, black vote.
Today, you are branded a radical and a dangerous fanatic if you espouse that same view. You will be grilled by the tolerance inquisition! Ten years ago, you would have laughed me to scorn if I told you Bruce Jenner would become Caitlyn Jenner and be named Woman of the Year. You would have ridiculed me if I told you the federal government would punish schools that refused to open the girls’ bathrooms and locker rooms to boys who identified as girls.

One of North Carolina’s most notorious all-male prisons is the focus of a court fight over religious liberty led by a transgender witch.  Jennifer Ann Jasmaine says in her handwritten, federal lawsuit that Lanesboro Correctional Institution is blocking the practice of her spiritual beliefs, which happen to be rooted in witchcraft. Jasmaine, a former Mecklenburg County Jail inmate, filed her complaint this month. In 2015, as inmate Duane Fox, she sued Maury Correctional Institute in Hookerton on the same
grounds.  A spokesman for the state prison system contacted by the Observer declined to comment on the case.  Jasmaine, 40, says the chaplains in charge of religious services at Lanesboro have violated her constitutional rights by restricting when, where and how she can practice Wicca, the modern-day religion based on ancient pagan beliefs. The prison also has refused to provide the foods Wiccans are supposed to eat, her lawsuit says.

Parents are outraged after a preschool in Massachusetts banned children from using the term “best friend.”  Mum Christine Hartwell told Boston 25 News that her four-year-old daughter Julia came home upset after her teacher at Pentucket Workshop Preschool in Georgetown, Massachusetts told her she
couldn’t refer to any of her classmates as her “best friends.” “When I asked her what was wrong she said she was really sad about what her teacher did that day,” her mum recalled. According to Hartwell, Julia said her teacher had told her she couldn’t call someone her best friend – and now Julia was afraid to call anyone her best friend.
