The predictions of climate change alarmists like Al Gore are starting to sound a lot like Mayan doomsday prophecies. Remember when the world was going to end in 2012?

Nine years ago, Democrat and climate change alarmist Al Gore said that the North Polar ice cap would have melted within five years. But to the surprise of nobody outside the liberal information bubble, the ice cap is doing just fine.

Gore climate prophesy falls flat
Gore’s prediction doesn’t make him look good — especially since none of his prophecies over the years have come true. The former vice president issued similar warnings three years in a row, and each time, he struck out.

In 2007, Gore rendered a prediction in his Nobel Prize acceptance speech. He cited a study that forecasted that the North Polar ice cap would be “completely gone” during summer by 2014:

Last September 21, as the Northern Hemisphere tilted away from the sun, scientists reported with unprecedented distress that the North Polar ice cap is “falling off a cliff.” One study estimated that it could be completely gone during summer in less than 22 years. Another new study, to be presented by U.S. Navy researchers later this week, warns it could happen in as little as 7 years.

Later, in his 2008 speech, Gore told a German audience that the polar ice cap will have melted by 2013.

“The entire North-polarized ice cap will be gone in five years,” Gore said at the time.

In his defense, Gore was citing predictions by other people — climate “scientists” — but he used the data to make reckless claims. And he didn’t stop there.

And again….and again….
In 2009, Gore spoke at a climate change conference in Copenhagen, where he delivered a similar prophecy. He then said that the ice would have completely melted only during some of the summer months — a qualification apparently absent from his 2008 prediction.

“Some of the models suggest that there is a 75 percent chance that the entire north polar ice cap, during some of the summer months, could be completely ice-free within the next five to seven years,” Gore said.

Even being generous, it has been eight years since this prediction was made. It looks like Al Gore was using shaky evidence to push for a narrative that just hasn’t held up to empirical experience.

It’s time for Gore to recant his statements and cut his losses. His humiliating predictions clearly haven’t come true.
