A video posted on Reddit showing a priest slapping a baby during a baptism is shocking viewers and garnering attention.

The video clip shows a French priest attempting to comfort a crying baby at a baptism ceremony. But 24 seconds into the video, the priest smacks the child on the cheek, eliciting louder cries and a gasp from the person filming.

A man standing behind the child, who's suspected to be the baby's father, is also seen looking shocked at the priest's actions and shortly afterward begins to grab the child away from the priest.

The priest doesn't let go though, continuing to grasp the child's head as the father pulls him away before the video abruptly ends.
Internet users are confused, worried and appalled at the priest's actions, with one person writing, "That was uncalled for."

Another wrote, "First of all, he's holding his head, and it looks uncomfortable. No wonder he's all fussy like that. Second, there was nooo reason to slap a child like that. No reason."

Other French-speaking Reddit users have tried to translate what's being said in the video.

"I'm going to put water on the forehead, and after I'll embrace the young fellow," one user quoted the priest as saying.

"Stop crying, calm down. Calm down," the priest continues before suddenly slapping the infant's cheek. "He's calming down. He's calming down. There you go."

Another outraged user wrote, "It's supposed to be a speech about how this child is joining the community through his baptism and he clocks the poor kid in the middle of it."

HE DOES THIS IN FRONT OF THE PARENTS!
Just one of MANY evidences that Roman Catholic priests are very evil and quite angry. Especially when it comes to the purity represented in the innocent children they come into contact with. That innocence causes them to lash out in many evil ways.

Is this the proof that Jesus DID exist?

Historians, archeologists and clerics have sought proof that Jesus existed for centuries – is there conclusive evidence for the existence of Christ?

Mrs Cisneros said: "On the day it happened, I sat down with my husband. I looked at the Virgin [Mary], and I asked him if the Virgin [Mary] had tears. And he told me no, I said the eyes of the Virgin weren't like that.

"And when you smell it, it gives a scent of flowers, like it's an essence that’s so sweet and smells really good.

Deacon Jim Winder, the vice chancellor of the Diocese of Las Cruces, assured the Catholic Church will be skeptical over the claims.

He said: "You can't prove a miracle, but you can disprove all other explanations.”

Church officials arrived at the scene yesterday to collect samples of the substance and to determine if it contains DNA.

They will then research the origins and make-up of the statute, taking it away for x-ray to make sure there is no foul play.

Witnesses will also then be interviewed and their experiences documented – in a process that could take “years”.

Earlier this month, archaeologists claimed to have discovered a city of King David in a Biblical dig in Israel.

Pope Francis creates a stir with homosexuality comments

Pope Francis creates a stir with homosexuality comments
Long Thiên / Public Domain
Francis may be the most liberal pope the Catholic church has ever had.

Pope Francis reportedly told a gay Chilean man that God made him that way.

If true, these are the most liberal remarks on homosexuality the pope is known to have made.

Pope tells gay man “God made you that way”
Juan Carlos Cruz, who was reportedly sexually abused by a priest as a boy, visited the Vatican for three days to talk to the pope about the abuse he suffered. He told Spanish newspaper El País about a private conversation he shared with the Catholic leader two weeks ago.

He said that the subject of his sexuality came up because some Chilean bishops had described him as a pervert and accused him of lying about the abuse. The man said Francis told him,”Juan Carlos, I don’t care about you being gay. God made you that way and loves you as you are and I don’t mind. The pope loves you as you are, you have to be happy with who you are.”

The Vatican neither confirmed nor denied the comments, saying “We don’t normally comment on the pope’s private conversations.”

Fr. James Martin, whose 2017 book “Building Bridges” encourages unity between the church and LGBT individuals, said the comments were a “big deal” because they mark the first time the pope has said that gay people are born that way.

“This is a big deal, I cannot remember the pope making a comment about gay people being born that way,” he said.

The statements are particularly significant because they imply that people are created gay by God, rather than homosexuality being a choice. The Church’s official teaching holds that gay sex is a sin but also states that the psychological origin of homosexuality is unknown.

The comments come amid pressure by Francis to crack down on a decades-long sexual abuse scandal in the Chilean church. Cruz visited the Vatican along with two other victims of Chilean priest Fernando Karadima, who the church found guilty of abuse and sentenced to a lifetime of penance in 2011.

Francis had originally dismissed accusations by Cruz that Chilean Bishop Juan Barros covered up the abuse, calling them “slander,” but later apologized in February, inviting the victims to Rome and calling for accountability in the Chilean church. All 31 Chilean bishops offered to resigned Friday over the cover-up scandal.

Liberal pope?
If true, the comments mark a new level of acceptance of homosexuality by the pope. However, it would not be the first time Francis broke with Catholic teaching.

In a 2013 press conference, he famously said, “If someone is gay and seeks the Lord with goodwill, who am I to judge?” when asked about the status of gay individuals.

Is Pope Francis too liberal?
Yes
No
Next
He later told an interviewer that year, “A person once asked me, in a provocative manner, if I approved of homosexuality,” adding, “I replied with another question: ‘Tell me: When God looks at a gay person, does he endorse the existence of this person with love, or reject and condemn this person?'”

Many Catholics were left scratching their heads recently when Italian journalist Eugenio Scalfari said in March that Francis had told him that hell does not exist in a private conversation. The Vatican denied the report.

The Vatican has denied making a deal with Saudi Arabia to build churches for Christian worshippers in the Arab country.

Reports in Middle Eastern media claimed a historic agreement had been made between Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran and Mohammed bin Abdel Karim Al-Issa of the Muslim World League.

But a spokesperson for the Vatican said the report was 'false'.

The reports of the supposed agreement to build churches emerged in Egypt Independent.

The cardinal has visited Saudi Arabia this year and met the royal family, urging the Muslim country to treat its citizens equally.

Saudi Arabia's anti-extremism Etidal centre hosted Cardinal Tauran as the crown prince pushes for inter-religious exchange in the ultra-conservative Sunni kingdom.

During the visit earlier this year Riyadh-based Etidal, the Arabic acronym for the Global Center for Combating Extremist Ideology, discussed with the cardinal its use of media and technology to 'disrupt extremist recruitment and promote tolerance', a government statement said.

'I think we have two enemies: extremism and ignorance,' Tauran was quoted as saying in the statement, while lauding the centre that was established in 2017.

'I don't believe in the clash of civilisation but rather in the clash of ignorance. Most of the time people react because they don't know who you are or who they are.'

Tauran, seen as an energetic promoter of dialogue between the Roman Catholic Church and Islam, also met Saudi King Salman in the capital.

Saudi leaders have courted a flurry of representatives of various Christian traditions in recent months.

In November, the head of Lebanon's Maronite church, Beshara Rai, met King Salman and powerful Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in a historic visit to Riyadh.

The prince also reportedly met a group of Jewish and Catholic leaders in a recent visit to New York, which highlighted a rare show of interfaith dialogue.

Prince Mohammed, the heir to the Saudi throne, has sought to project a moderate image of his austere kingdom, often associated in the West with jihadist ideology and subjugating women.

The reformist prince has announced the lifting of a ban on women driving and has authorised cinemas for the first time in over three decades as part of his pledge to spread a more moderate version of Islam.

Revelation 13:3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. 13:4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him? 13:6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. 13:7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Pope Francis, on the Feast of the Holy Family in Vatican City, said Jesus had to beg forgiveness from His parents when he got lost at the temple as a child. This implies that Jesus committed a sin! That is contrary to the Bible, because the Bible says that Jesus led a sinless life. The Pope has also made controversial statements in the past, saying that the Bible is a highly dangerous book and that Jesus' life ended in failure. The pope has even spoken out about fundamentalism (including Christian fundamentalism) a number of times. Christian fundamentalism is the belief that the Bible should be interpreted literally. What does this all mean? Watch this video to find out!

Did Pope Francis Claim that Hell Doesn’t Exist?
Mar 29, 2018 | 0  |
Did Pope Francis Claim that Hell Doesn’t Exist?
Pope Francis in a recent interview with his longtime atheist friend stated that hell does not exist and that souls just disappear after death.  Scalfri says to the Pope, “Your Holiness, in our previous meeting you told me that our species will disappear in a certain moment and that God, still out of his creative force, will create new species. You have never spoken to me about the souls who died in sin and will go to hell to suffer it for eternity. You have however spoken to me of good souls, admitted to the contemplation of God. But what about bad souls? Where are they punished?”
Pope Francis says, “They are not punished, those who repent obtain the forgiveness of God and enter the rank of souls who contemplate him, but those who do not repent and cannot, therefore, be forgiven disappear. There is no hell, there is the disappearance of sinful souls.” – In yet another absurd twist of scripture Pope Francis, formerly Jorge Mario Bergoglio, allegedly made the claim that hell does not exist as is evidenced in the paragraph above. The interview was conducted by Italian journalist Eugenio Scalfari the founder and former editor of Italian newspaper La Repubblica.

Is American Catholicism under attack by extremists nostalgic for anti-Jewish teachings?
No, Israel didn’t just declare, then revoke, a holy war on Christianity
There are no saints in Jerusalem’s church crisis
First there was "Vatileaks". Now there is "Lettergate".
For the past week, the Vatican has been enmeshed in a controversy that conservatives say has all the hallmarks of a cover-up but others say is probably the result of botched communications.

On Monday, the head of the Vatican communications department, Monsignor Dario Vigano, moderated a presentation of an 11-booklet series of musings by 11 commentators on "The Theology of Pope Francis."

Vigano read out a five-paragraph letter from retired Pope Benedict in which Francis' predecessor, now 90, rejected the "stupid prejudice" of those who say the Argentinian is destroying the Church with liberal theology.

Benedict also disputed suggestions by conservatives that Francis' academic qualities were lacking, praising his successor as a "man of deep philosophical and theological formation" and finding an "interior continuity between the two pontificates".

But a press release handed out to journalists at the event omitted the fourth paragraph of the letter, in which Benedict apologised for not having had the time to read all 11 volumes and thus declining a request to write a "dense theological" introduction for the series.

And in a publicity photo sent to media, showing the first page of Benedict's letter lying on a table, the start of the paragraph is illegible, apparently intentionally blurred to emphasise the rest of the letter, which is in focus.

In this photo of a letter released by Vatican Media, retired Pope Benedict XVI praises a volume of books about the theological training of Pope Francis. The Vatican admitted Thursday, March 14, 2018 that it blurred the final two lines of the letter's first page, where Benedict begins to acknowledge that he didn't read the books and doesn't have time to write a theological assessment of Francis as requested. (Vatican Media photo via AP)
In this photo of a letter released by Vatican Media, retired Pope Benedict XVI praises a volume of books about the theological training of Pope Francis. The Vatican admitted Thursday, March 14, 2018 /AP
Conservative critics of Francis saw the blurring and the selective press release as part of a plot to censor the thoughts of the former pope, who resigned in 2013.

Many conservative Catholics still look up to Benedict as a bulwark against liberals, and have lambasted Francis for being too lenient on divorced Catholics and homosexuals.

"Increasing numbers of faithful Catholics are becoming alarmed and increasingly by what they see as a continual stream of deceptions, manipulations and scandals coming from the Vatican under Pope Francis," said Edward Pentin, an ultra-conservative author who writes about the Vatican for the U.S. newspaper National Catholic Register.

In an email to Reuters, he dubbed the whole episode the Vatican's "Lettergate".

However, a video of the event confirms that Vigano did read out the entire letter, including the paragraph omitted in the press release.
"Speaking of a plot makes no sense," said Angela Ambrogetti, head of the Catholic news agency Acistampa and a conservative herself. "The whole letter was read and the last paragraph in no way changes the significance of Benedict's previous comments."

Vigano had no comment.

The episode evoked the "Vatileaks" scandal of 2012, when Pope Benedict's personal butler stole some of the pontiff's personal letters and leaked them to the media.
