Ripon College's "Bias Protocol Board" claims the posters made Muslim students feel singled out
A Wisconsin college has banned students from hanging posters in remembrance of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
Conservative student organization, Young America’s Foundation (YAF) is reporting that Ripon College administrators ruled that posters from their 9-11: Never Forget Project could not be hung up in the school because of anti-Muslim bias.
The school’s “Bias Protocol Board” cited complaints from last year’s memorial, claiming the posters created an environment where “students from a Muslim background would feel singled out and/or harassed.”
The school said that because the posters focused “relentlessly” on one religious group and associated it with terrorist attacks, it “creates for some students here an environment which they feel like they are not able to learn.”
The administrators’ reliance on feelings rather than facts betrays their intention to cower from the truth…
YAF Spokesman, Spencer Brown told the Washington Examiner, “This attempt by Ripon College’s ‘bias protocol board’ to sanitize the truth out of remembering the anniversary of September 11 proves the necessity of YAF’s iconic 9/11: Never Forget Project, as well as the need for bold YAF activists. YAF’s leadership in creating meaningful memorials on this important date in our nation’s history ensures that the rising generation
remembers the 2,977 innocent lives lost. The administrators’ reliance on feelings rather than facts betrays their intention to cower from the truth rather than highlight the scourge of radical Islamist terror for what it is: evil.”
