A Mexican official says that a 56 percent drop in illegal immigration into the U.S. from Mexico should result in the U.S. abandoning any threat to slap tariffs on Mexican goods.

“I do not think there will be a threat of tariffs because there is a 56 percent reduction,” Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard said Friday, according to the Daily Mail.

Ebrard will be in Washington Tuesday for meetings with Vice President Mike Pence and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo as the U.S. and Mexico review the agreement between the two countries in which Mexico promised to do more to reduce the flood of migrants crossing the border into the U.S.
To implement the agreement, Mexico deployed more than 20,000 police and soldiers to prevent Central American migrants from using Mexico as their route to the U.S., Fox News reported.

However, Mexico will only do so much, Ebrard cautioned.

“The Mexican strategy is working. We will not agree to be a safe third country … because it goes against our interests. It is unfair to our country,” he said, referring to President Donald Trump’s proposal that any migrants seeking asylum in the U.S. would have to first seek asylum in Mexico.

Ebrard instead will be pushing for increased American aid to Mexico and the Central American nations from which most migrants come.

Trump’s most recent comments on Mexico were positive.

“I want to thank Mexico, the Mexican government, their great President of Mexico, for helping us. They’re helping us in a very big way. Far bigger than anybody thought even possible,” he said last week.

Figures from the Office of Customs and Border Protection show that the number of illegal immigrants arrested along the Southwest Border is dropping.

After more than 144,000 illegal immigrants were detained in May, that number dropped to about 82,000 in July.

However, the U.S. plans to use the Tuesday meetings to press Mexico to do more.

A report in The Washington Post, citing anonymous sources, said that although the number of illegal immigrants arrested fell further to about 65,000 in August, that number would still be an increase of about 20,000 arrests since August 2018. The Trump administration wants the number to keep dropping, the report said.

“Mexico started off making some gains, and they have executed enforcement operations they’ve never executed before, which the U.S. government has acknowledged and applauded, but those efforts have largely stalled,” The Post quoted a Department of Homeland Security official it did not name as saying.

“We’re concerned that Mexico is resting on its laurels and not postured to drive down the numbers to acceptable levels. We know they can do more, and that’s what the United States expects.”

The Post report said that the fact that 20 groups of 100 or more migrants, some with more than 200 people, have arrived at the U.S. border since the agreement with Mexico took effect on June 7 is worrisome.

“Large groups are the easiest for Mexico to deal with, so the fact that they’re missing large groups of over 200 people symbolizes the challenges they’re facing,” the unnamed DHS official said, according to The Post.

Illegal immigration is ranked among the top political issues for Americans heading into the general election.

Vermont Senator and far-left presidential candidate Bernie Sanders confirmed this week that his socialized health care proposal will “absolutely” provide coverage to every single illegal immigrant in the United States.

“We will organize the American people around the concept that all people in this country have the right to health care, and at the end of the day, we are going to win that struggle,” said Sanders during a recent speech.

“Senator, would you include the 11 million undocumented immigrants in America?” asked the moderator.

“Absolutely. When I talk about health care being a human right, the last time I heard that undocumented people are human beings,” he fired-back.

Embattled Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez found herself once-again at the center of national controversy this week; facing growing calls for a public apology after she compared US immigration centers with Nazi concentration camps.

“Has she ever been to Yad Vashem in Jerusalem or Auschwitz-Birkenau in southern Poland or Dachau in Germany?” asked Fox News’ Bill Hemmer. “’Never Again’ is the phrase that Jews all over the world use to make sure that the extermination between 1939 and 1945 never happens again, and she’s using concentration camps to describe what’s happening on the southern border.”

“How in the world is that acceptable? Does she not owe every Jew on this planet an apology?” he asked.

“I think it’s disgusting to compare what the men and women do out on the border right now to that, and it is definitely a slap in the face to a lot of these individuals that have family members that actually went through concentration camps,” added a member of the National Border Patrol Council.

Ocasio-Cortez made her vicious accusation during a live stream on Instagram Monday night.

“The United States is running concentration camps on our southern border. That’s exactly what they are. They are concentration camps. If that doesn’t bother you… I like, whatever, I want to talk to the people that are concerned with humanity that ‘Never Again’ means something,” said the left-wing lawmaker.

“The fact that concentration camps are now an institutionalized practice in the home of the free is extraordinarily disturbing,” she added.

The self-described Democratic Socialist made national headlines last week when she called for a $4,500 raise for Members of Congress and a “cost-of-living adjustment” for all Americans.

“It may be politically convenient and make you look good in the short term… but we should be fighting for pay increases for every American worker. We should be fighting for $15 an hour minimum wage pegged to inflation,” said Ocasio-Cortez.

Sadly, organized Jewish leadership in Britain still remains silent regarding the growing threat of Jew-hatred from Islam. Both Katie Hopkins and Janice Atkinson spoke at the Jerusalem screening, as well as in the movie, and they are extremely supportive of the European Jewish community and Israel. They seem to be more supportive of the Jewish community in Europe, and of Israel as the homeland of the Jewish people, than some of the leadership of British Jewry, who ignore the real threat the growing Muslim British community pose to British Jews.

Amos Schonfield, a representative of the Board of Deputies that pressured the Israeli screening locations to cancel the screenings, wrote in an article in the Haaretz newspaper that the movie is an “an openly Islamophobic “documentary”.” How the writer can say such a thing without even seeing the movie is beyond me.

No, the movie is not Islamophobic. It does a very good job of interviewing people in Europe and in Israel who share their personal experiences in Europe. Through these interviews, it also does a wonderful job of showing Israel as the homeland of the Jewish people. There is nothing Islamophobic about it. The movie is filled with factual occurrences that are mostly all known and documented.

The United States and Mexico reached a “signed agreement” Friday evening ending days of tough talks and forging a new deal that will suspend the White House’s 5% tariff on Mexican goods and crackdown on illegal immigration at the Southern Border.

“I am pleased to inform you that The United States of America has reached a signed agreement with Mexico. The Tariffs scheduled to be implemented by the U.S. on Monday, against Mexico, are hereby indefinitely suspended,” he said. “Mexico, in turn, has agreed to take strong measures to….stem the tide of Migration through Mexico, and to our Southern Border. The Mexican government reportedly deployed their military to its southern border this week; offering major immigration concessions to the Trump administration to avoid proposed tariffs scheduled to take effect Monday.

“With just days to go until the Trump administration is set to impose punishing tariffs on Mexico unless the country halts the unprecedented flow of illegal immigrants across the southern border, numerous signs that Mexico would capitulate emerged Thursday — but it remained unclear Friday morning whether their efforts would satisfy the White House,” reports Fox News.

“Reports in the evening indicated that Mexico’s negotiators with Washington have offered to immediately deploy 6,000 National Guard troops to the border with Guatemala. Additionally, Mexico has reportedly agreed to a major overhaul of reasonable asylum protocols, which would require asylum applicants to seek permanent refuge in the first country they arrive in after fleeing their home countries,” adds the article.

Mexican authorities prevented an additional ‘migrant caravan’ originating in Central America from entering its borders this week; a gesture that could help future trade talks with the Trump administration.

“Authorities blocked a new caravan of Central American migrants Wednesday after they entered Mexico bound for the United States, as the government scrambled to dodge President Donald Trump’s threat to impose tariffs over undocumented immigration,” reports Yahoo News.

“Soldiers and police forced hundreds of migrants in the group — which was mostly from Honduras — to a halt in the southern town of Metapa de Dominguez, about 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) from the Mexican-Guatemalan border,” adds the report.

The Trump administration is prepared to impose a 5% tariff on all Mexican products on Monday should their government fail to crackdown on illegal immigration flowing towards the United States.

The escalating crisis at the border took a turn for the worse in May 2019, with new statistics showing federal agents detained more than 55,000 children attempting to illegally enter the United States.

“The government set another grim record in May with more than 55,000 children nabbed by Border Patrol agents along the southwest border,” reports the Washington Times. “They were part of more than 130,000 unauthorized migrants Border Patrol agents and officers at the ports of entry encountered last month, up from about 109,000 in April and far higher than the 51,000 or so nabbed in May 2018.”
