There has not really been much free scientific debate ever since the pandemic began. A few serious scientists who hold extremely powerful positions have basically quashed all legitimate debate on these matters. The “party line” or narrative has been nearly unanimous – there is only one solution – vaccines. Nothing else has been treated as anything but fake science.

The chief silencer has been Dr. Anthony Fauci, who has gone from being one of the most popular people in America to one of the most controversial people in America over the last year. Some people go as far as to actually blame him for the beginnings of the coronavirus pandemic. But even if one rejects that assumption, there is no question that Dr. Fauci has publicly rejected any form of therapeutics in dealing with the coronavirus. This is a very controversial stance. What has probably been revealed for all to see is that very few people have so much power to control public policy on matters of life and death as Dr. Fauci does.

Well, what would be a better alternative? A better option would be a large group of internationally respected doctors from a wide variety of backgrounds, let’s say ten or twenty, who legitimize debate and publicly support a certain policy without completely rejecting their opponents views.

For example, when a person asks a group of cardiologists what they suggest for a patient with some arteries that are clogged, the answers will usually not be identical. Some will clearly recommend an immediate bypass operation, while others will recommend a stent or two. A small minority may recommend a more out of the box approach of radically altering one’s diet and ramping up the exercise so as to attempt to reverse some of the damage. The three approaches are very different. Perhaps the first two option are what would be called more standard treatments while the third option is more radical. But it is a legitimate option, and can also be justified via scientific studies. In a proper setting, the patient will be offered all three options to choose from. The patient or the caretaker of the patient – not the doctor – should choose which path to go. The doctor should only recommend one path or another, but have no power over the patient’s choice.

This has not been the case in the present pandemic. Hundreds of millions of people are basically being coerced to take one path when indeed, others do exist. Dr. Fauci has claimed to “own” the term science and in a haughty fashion, rejects anyone who disagrees with him as being unscientific. There need to be more safeguards or checks and balances to the power that people like Dr. Fauci have over public policy. And this does not need to wait for the next pandemic. It should be one of the top priorities of the new Republican – led Congress in 2023.

Of course as infections increase, despite the injections, more and more Israelis are refusing to take the jab. In fact over half the country is no longer considered “vaccinated” according to the definitions. This push back, rarely reported in global media, is a sign that the Israeli public, which has been used by its government as a massive test for Big Pharma’s “vaccination,” has begun to ignore the government’s push for increased injections.

From the early days of the coronavirus, the Israeli government has attempted to use its citizenry to see just how far a centralized government could go. First with draconian lockdowns and then the “vaccine”push, Israel has been used to test both social engineering and pharmaceuticals.

Seen as a beacon for socialized medicine, it is Israel’s massive database of its citizens medical records that companies like Pfizer wanted and of course were promptly given, once the deal was inked to allow a free flow of injections.
With therapeutics hardly used, doctors fired for questioning the status quo, and “vaccines” pushed without questioning, one wonders whether or not Israel should be seen as a beacon for the success of socialized medicine or what many citizens are arguing is rather an example of medical fascism gone wild.

Yesterday January 4th, Iranian explosive drones struck again at Ayin Al-Assad base, where US troops are stationed.


While these attacks have happened before, the back to back nature of them shows that Iran sees that the time is now to continue to push the USA out of Shiite territory.

2022 may prove to be the year that the maneuvering of the last few years blow out into open war. Despite the media’s attempts to paint the Russian/Ukraine conflict as the main theatre, the Chinese-Iranian axis continues to be the main event. China has indicated that it will take advantage of the Biden regime in order to take over Taiwan and while Russia may invade Ukraine, Iran will for sure move forward with advancing towards nuclear breakout, thus resetting the Middle East and potentially the world.

A nuclear Iran means that Israel will be forced to attack and that will invite a counterstrike by Iranian affiliated Hezbollah. In fact, Iran does not need a nuclear weapon to lay waste to Israel. Hezbollah’s missiles are enough. The nuclear weapon and ICBM program is for the broader globe.


Faced with weak and corrupt leaders, the West is facing an existential crisis that was born from its own assumption that its hegemony would be everlasting. This assumption appears to be the key to its downfall. While Israel has always done a good job in maneuvering the stormy international waters, its current self serving and inexperienced leadership has managed to get it stuck. Israel is bound to a decaying West and under threat from all sides.

Lod has made news headlines many times this year because of the extreme Muslim violence and the horrific attacks that Muslims in the nieghborhood have perpetrated against their Jewish neighbors.

Then how can Joe Biden even function at all as President? The answer is via a whole lot of coaching, hand-holding, and script-following. It goes like this. Before every meeting – right before the meeting, Biden is coached about what to expect at the meeting. Then, he is given reminder cards or papers with pictures, names, and key things to serve him as reminders. Then, during the meeting, he has people reminding him via ear pieces, what to say, how to respond, and how to basically keep the charade going without doing too much damage.

But more importantly, the meetings are all scripted in advance to follow a clear plan so that no surprises will pop up in the middle. People in Biden’s state don’t handle surprises well. And then, there are the few go to words and phrases – such as C’mon, and other sayings that Biden practices each day with his aides.

Of course, the big question then is who is pulling the strings on this puppet Presidency? It is certainly his closest advisors, and the one name that is rarely mentioned is Barack Obama. He is probably setting the top 3 agenda items every day. His appointees are largely in senior positions in the White House and the policies of the Obama administration are largely being continued in Biden’s term. But most of this will come crashing down in the 2022 mid-term elections when the Republicans will probably sweep across the nation with victories.

Then, the big question is what will Barack Obama decide to do next after the Democrats lose control over Congress? Leave Biden in power or ask him to gingerly step down based on illness? Jill Biden will probably call Obama and say that things are getting worse, so Biden will probably not last past the mid-terms. Most people think that Kamala Harris is not the right answer to replace Biden as her popularity is waning. But I think she will become the first female President, and Obama will do his most to make sure that she carries out as many of his policies as he can get implemented. 2023 and 2024 will be years of major gridlock and bring a return to massive partisanship and fractiousness. That should pave the way for a uniting force in the White House in 2024 – like Nikki Haley, Ron DeSantis, or a surprise non-ideological moderate outsider from the Democrat side. Nearly any option would be better than the situation today.

That seems rather far-fetched for many reasons.

However, the sheer power of some of these financial mega-mammoth conglomerates should certainly cause any reasonable person to do a double-take concerning some of the policies that governments implement. Yes, the United States and China are deeply influenced by pressure from the largest financial institutions in the world. And yes, the United States and China are much more intertwined than we may want to think.

That is why a disrupter President like Donald Trump was both a breath of fresh air and a major threat for so many powerful interest groups. There are many reasons why political insiders tend to rise to the top of their political parties. The main reason is that so much internal pressure is brought down to bear on the leaders of their respective parties. We may like to think that elected officials are free to make political decisions based on what they see as right or wrong. But it is indeed much more complex than that.
This is the kind of video that one need not agree with more than 20% of the ideas posited in order to rattle some assumed aspects of life in the world that we live in.

There are many leaders in the United States who know that the evidence that the Wuhan Lab is the source of the virus is indeed overwhelming. It is not a 100% clear proof, but it is way beyond 90%. Viruses of this sort do not just create themselves naturally.

But there is more proof – much of it, very damning against Dr. Anthony Fauci. From the very start of the pandemic, there has been constant denial of the lab origin of the virus, despite the fact that most of the Professors knew that the natural origin narrative was probably wrong. Can viruses truly jump from bats to humans via an unidentified animal? The odds that this could have happened are very far from probable. That is one of the main reasons that the lab origin of the virus is so much more convincing – the alternatives are simply too far-fetched.

The only reasonable explanation is the Wuhan Lab theory. One can argue as to whether or not gain of function research was necessary there in the first place. But to say that the virus did not originate in the Lab is to negate overwhelming evidence that points in that direction.

Rabbi Yekutiel Fish, a well-known Jerusalem mystic who blogs under the byline Sod HaChashmal, wrote last week that despite general dissatisfaction with the government of Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, it is precisely because of this dissatisfaction that his government is preparing for the final Davidic Dynasty. 
“The better part of Jeroboam the son of Nabat’s soul,” Rabbi Fish wrote, noting that Nabat’s name can be rearranged to spell ‘Bennett.’ “Bennett ends the influence of the reign of Jeroboam, thereby beginning the reign of Moshiach from the house of Joseph.”

Jeroboam was from the tribe of Efraim, making him a descendant of Joseph. His connection to Joseph was further cemented when he established his capital in Shechem, the site of Joseph’s Tomb. 

“The connection is really very simple,” Rabbi Fish told Israel365 News. “Jeroboam was the first king and founder of the independent northern kingdom of Israel. Until Jeroboam, the people did not feel the need for or even support the construction of the Temple. For this reason, he became the paradigmatic wicked king. But by doing so, Jeroboam separated the people from David. This led to the people crying out that they longed for the Davidic Dynasty.”

Rabbi Fish explained that Bennett is preparing the way for Moshiach ben David (Messiah, son of David). 

Moshiach ben Yosef (Messiah from the house of Joseph) is the first half of the two-stage Messianic process. Moshiach ben Yosef is a practical, mundane process that includes the ingathering of the exiles and building up of the Land of Israel. The second stage, Moshiach Ben David (Messiah from the house of David) is a miraculous process that includes the re-establishment of the Davidic Dynasty and the completion of the Third Temple.

“In the same way, Bennett is dividing the nation, pulling them away from Torah. The nation of Israel is crying out for Torah like never before. Until now, the Jews were okay with a watered-down version of Judaism and Torah.:”

Rabbi Fish noted that Bennett’s  Religious Minister Matan Kahana is advocating highly divisive conversion reforms. 

“The Israeli voters thought that Bennett would bring them more of the same,” Rabbi Fish said. “But he misled them. He made it clear that they would not even be getting the watered-down version of the Torah. The only way forward is towards Moshiach ben David.”

Rabbi Fish noted that just as Joseph aligned with Pharaoh to pave the way for Judah, Bennett is the first head of an Israeli government to form a coalition with the Arab parties.

 mummy of Pharaoh Amenhotep I reports Yahoo. This mummy was among the few discovered in the last few centuries still unopened.

The mummy of Amenhotep I, whose conquest reigned from about 1525-1504 BCE, was X-rayed in 1932 but was not unwrapped because of its “perfect wrapping”, flower garlands decorations, and “exquisite face mask,” featuring a cobra painted on it, researchers write in the peer-reviewed research journal Frontiers in Medicine.

The reason they used computerized tomography is due to the fact that it is more accurate than X-rays and has the capability to create 3-D images of organs and bones.

“This fact that Amenhotep I’s mummy had never been unwrapped in modern times gave us a unique opportunity: not just to study how he had originally been mummified and buried, but also how he had been treated and reburied twice, centuries after his death, by High Priests of Amun,” explained Professor Sahar Saleem, of radiology at the Faculty of Medicine at Cairo University and the radiologist of the Egyptian Mummy Project, the study’s first author, in a news release.

3,000 years ago, priests restored and then reburied Amenhotep’s mummy as well as other mummies to fix damage caused by grave robbers, researchers noted. The mummy of Amenhotep I was found in 1881 in Thebes (modern-day Luxor) along the Nile River in the south of Egypt. Amenhotep I’s original tomb has yet to be discovered.

Saleem along with Egyptologist and the study’s co-author Zahi Hawass, who have studied over 40 mummies in the Egyptian Antiquity Ministry Project, performed the CT scans in 2019 in the Gallery of Royal Mummies in the Cairo Egyptian Museum.“By digitally unwrapping of the mummy and ‘peeling off’ its virtual layers – the facemask, the bandages, and the mummy itself – we could study this well-preserved pharaoh in unprecedented detail,” Saleem recalled.

The findings demonstrate that Amenhotep I was roughly 35 years old at the time of his death. He was approximately 5’6 ft tall, had fine teeth, and was even circumcised. “Within his wrappings, he wore 30 amulets and a unique golden girdle with gold beads,” Hawass said. “Amenhotep I seems to have physically resembled his father: he had a narrow chin, a small narrow nose, curly hair, and mildly protruding upper teeth.”

According to researchers, Amenhotep I was the 2nd pharaoh of Egypt’s 18th dynasty, after his father Ahmose I. Following the death of  Amenhotep, Amenhotep I and his mother Ahmose-Nefertari were worshipped as deities.

Despite their findings, Amenhotep’s cause of death remains a mystery. “We couldn’t find any wounds or disfigurement due to disease to justify the cause of death, except numerous mutilations post mortem, presumably by grave robbers after his first burial,” Saleem noted. “His entrails had been removed by the first mummifies, but not his brain or heart.”

The possibility remains that Amenhotep died of heart failure “because there is no evidence of any diseases that Amenhotep the First had,” Hawass said in an interview with NBC News.

Strangely, the brain of Amenhotep I was intact, he noted. The mummy is also the oldest discovered to have the body’s forearms crossed in a position called the Osiris position. The data demonstrated how “technology can make discoveries without disturbing the mummy,” Hawass added.

Both Hawass and Saleem initially assumed that the people who restored the mummy 3,000 years ago recycled royal burial equipment for later pharaohs. Instead, they discovered the priests: “lovingly repaired the injuries inflicted by the tomb robbers, restored his mummy to its former glory, and preserved the magnificent jewelry and amulets in place,” Saleem explained.

As the positive effects of the vaccine tend to wear off and seem to not provide more than a temporary respite, more people are asking questions about the net positive impact of the vaccines.

But in the recent months, vaccines have been encouraged to the younger population too – 5- 11 year olds are also being encouraged to vaccinate by many health professionals. This has placed more health professionals in a bind. There are less doctors today who support vaccinating children than there are doctors who support vaccinating adults and the elderly population.

But the straw that broke the back for many people is the idea of forcing vaccinations on people. Even those who support vaccinations for children, adults, and the elderly, are not necessarily in favor of forcing the vaccinations on anyone. Joe Biden and Dr. Fauci clearly have made it their policy to force – either gently or not-so-gently – people to vaccinate. This issue goes to the very heart of the freedom that the United States was founded on.


In 2022, the struggling economy and vaccine mandates will probably be the two issues that will lead to a massive wave of Republicans being elected into the House and Senate. The movement will include some sort of a name like “Freedom” or “Liberty,” and will sweep the progressive, and quite forceful policies of the Biden administration out of the lives and bodies of Americans.

There are solutions to the pandemic that include vaccination, treatments, aggressive testing in schools, some level of herd immunity, border control, and more. But forcing people to pull up their shirts will not happen in the United States of America without a total revolution. That will not happen because Americans have the right to bear arms. Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz) has always been an outspoken advocate for Israel but he recently went even further when criticizing the recent UN resolutions concerning Jerusalem and the Temple Mount. In his response, Gosar called on the UN to dismantle the Muslim structures in Jerusalem that were built on the ruins of the Jewish Temple.

UN ANTI-ISRAEL RESOLUTION
At the beginning of the month, during the holiday of Hannukah, The United Nations General Assembly approved the Jerusalem Resolution that referred to Israel as “the occupying power”,  disavowing Jewish ties to the Temple Mount and called it solely by its Muslim-Arabic name of al-Haram al-Sharif.

In his statement, Gosar decried the UN resolution as an attempt to “categorize the holiest Jewish temple in Jerusalem as belonging to Islam and Christianity.”

“The recent vote by the United Nations disavowing Jewish historical ties and exclusivity to the Temple Mount—the holiest and most sacred Temple in Judaism—is an outrageous act of religious persecution,” Rep. Gosar wrote. “This is a transparent effort, supported by 129 nations but opposed by the United States, to rewrite history, cleanse the holy area of its religious ties to the Jewish faith and deny that Israel has roots to the Middle East.”

Gosar emphasized that the UN vote be viewed in the context of the Jewish holiday:

“No one can simply ‘vote’ to erase historical and religious events.  This vote, coming during Hanukkah, is particularly ill-conceived.  At its core, this is religious and ethnic cleansing and its purpose is to give validity to a false claim that the Temple is an Islamic holy site.  It is not and it never should be. 

“The Jewish Temple, located in the heart of Jerusalem’s Old City, is holy ground to Jews and it belongs solely to their faith.  I object to any effort to ethnically cleanse the Jewish people from their sole historic claim to this land and temple.  

Gosar went on to call for the dismantling of the Muslim structure, which he described as “an abomination”, built on top of the Jewish Temple.

“It remains an abomination that a mosque was allowed to be built over this temple. The United Nations should be finding ways to dismantle and move that mosque, which is an affront to all religions,” concluded Congressman Gosar.

It is interesting to note that Gosar did not specify which Muslim structure on the Temple Mount he felt should be dismantled. The UN resolution specified al-Haram al-Sharif (the noble sanctuary), a term that refers to the Temple Mount and not to a specific structure. The major structures currently on the site are the grey domed Al Aqsa Mosque (the further mosque) and the gold-domed Qubbat a Sakhra (shrine of the rock) that was built on the site of the Holy of Holies in the Jewish Temples. 

RABBI WEISS: AL AQSA CAN STAY
Rabbi Hillel Weiss, the spokesman for the Sanhedrin, does not believe that all of the Muslim structures on the Temple Mount needed to be removed.

“As long as the Muslims agree to live peacefully with the other religions in Israel, there is no reason to remove the Aqsa Mosque,” Rabbi Weiss said. “An entrance can be set up and pathways arranged so that they can, like the Jews and everyone else, remain in the permitted areas. In fact, the current entrance to the Aqsa Mosque fits that description. Al Aqsa is not in the part of the Temple Mount that was used in the Temples.”

“But by calling the entire Temple Mount by the name Al Aqsa, they are laying claim to the entire mountain with the intent of preventing the Jews from returning the Temple service. This has no source in Islam or benefit to the Muslims. It is simply a political lie that was created by the Palestinians and perpetuated by those who hate the Jews.”

Rabbi Weiss referred to the mainstream Muslim belief that that the true location of the Al Aqsa Mosque described in Koran is in Al Ju’ranah, near Mecca in Saudi Arabia.

“It is important that the term ‘al-Haram al-Sharif’ is wiped from the narrative, and even more so using the term ‘al Aqsa’ to refer to the Dome of the Rock or the entire compound,” Rabbi Weiss said. “Nothing good, certainly nothing godly, comes from lies.”

Gosar is a Roman Catholic but he has been critical of Pope Francis, who he describes as a “cultural Marxist”, boycotting the Pope’s 2015 address to Congress.

On Wednesday morning, a 6.1 magnitude earthquake shook the Greek Island of Crete. The quake was felt as far away as Israel. No injuries or damage was reported. This comes after a series of three quakes (5.2, 5.4, 4.2) hit the island on Sunday. 

The quake was at a depth of 80 km (49.7 miles), the  European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) said.

On October 12, a powerful magnitude 6.3 earthquake rocked Crete, two weeks after another tremor on the island killed a man and damaged hundreds of buildings.

The island of Crete is referred to in the Bible as Caphtor (Amos 9:7, Jeremiah 47:4). Though no catastrophic earthquake has been recorded in Crete, a cataclysmic volcanic blast that took place at approximately 1627 BCE and 1600 BCE in the nearby island of Thera was one of the largest volcanic eruptions in the last 4,000 years. The devastating results of the eruption are evident on the island to this day, as are the results of an earthquake and tsunami generated by the volcano. The Thera eruption, 124 miles from Crete, was so transformative that major historical events in the region including  Plato’s story of Atlantis have been attributed to it.

Some Egyptologists claim that ancient Egyptians wrote about the Thera eruption in the Tempest Stela.  Attributed to  Pharaoh Ahmose I who ruled from 1539–1514 BC, it describes a great storm striking Egypt during this time, destroying tombs, temples and pyramids and the work of restoration ordered by the king. The storm was accompanied by darkness, earthquakes and flooding.

In 1981, Professor Hans Goedicke, chairman of the Department of Near Eastern Studies at Johns Hopkins University and a world-famous Egyptologist, attributed several aspects of the Biblical account to the eruption at Thera. His theories were based on his opinion that the Exodus took place in 1477 BCE in the reign of the Pharaoh Hatshepsut, 200 years earlier than most historians previously ascertained.

This theory was resurrected by two-time Emmy winner Simcha Jacobovici and world-famous film director James Cameron in a 2006 documentary titled The Exodus Decoded. In addition to espousing Goedicke’s theory attributing the splitting of the sea to a Thera-generated tsunami, the film also suggests that Thera may have been the source of the Biblical pillars of fire and smoke.

In response, the IDF has begun using tanks to shell Hamas installations in Gaza. Observers believe that Hamas was enraged at the meeting between PA President Abbas and Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz and wanted to spark a small flare up with Israel.

The other possibility is that Hamas has begin to “raise the heat”slightly as talks between the Western powers and Iran falter and a major conflict between Israel and Iran draws close.

Either way, the Bennett government appears to have given the IDF a free hand.

When a person becomes addicted to exercise or to some other form of seemingly healthy habit, then the action can sometimes become so powerful that it overtakes other priorities that they know are more important also. For example, if a person decides to exercise every day in the morning and evening to improve their health, this would be considered a healthy decision by most people. However, if they turn a healthy habit into a “healthy” addiction and begin to turn exercise into their primary focus that their day revolves around, they may end up pushing aside other values such as family, career, etc…

The idea is to never let a healthy habit get out of control. Every habit needs to have it’s limits. This documentary should serve as a wake-up call for all to never allow their lives to churn out of control. But if it does, there is always a way out.

It is a scary thought that such a behemoth of a company based in New York City can have such a close connection with what could turn into a major foe of the United States of America and the free world.

But therein lies the inherent complexities that are often underrated about the China – United States economic relationship. The last thing that China wants to see is the United States economy faltering in a way that consumption of goods Made in China drops precipitously. So, China and the United States are actually not truly in an economic battle. They are also in a form of informal economic partnership where the advantages continue to pile up on the side of China.


The main issue of concern should be the vital goods – that Americans consume in ever-increasing numbers – that are almost exclusively Made in China. Chief among these are pharmaceuticals. It is not a simple thing at all to come up with alternative directions to create and distribute pharmaceuticals to the world. But the situation that exists today is untenable. A virus that originated in China actually helped China profit enormously via the pharmaceutical industry that has seen a tremendous windfall from the pandemic. It is an overwhelming task for the United States to untangle it’s involvement and dependence on the Chinese economic machine. However, everything that is related to vital machines and medicines to insure health must be the first priority for the United States to wean off of Chinese dependency.

Tuesday was, in fact, the winter solstice, the day Earth is farthest from the sun and the shortest day of the year. Due to the precise location of the sun during this week in December, a hole in the rocks of the mountain glows vividly and appears to be on fire. This phenomenon is the result of sunlight illuminating a limestone cave through a hidden aperture in its roof

“The phenomenon persists even more in the shortest afternoon of the year, but can be seen both in the days close to it and in the afternoon,” explains Dr. Shachar Shilo, the Director of Tourism for the Negev Mountains. “It is not clear what exactly makes the light look like a glowing fire at the edge of a rock hole, but its edge is illuminating and shining only these days in December, when the peak of glow always occurs on December 21 – it is the shortest day of the year.”

Coincidentally, the solstice took place during the weekly Torah portion describing Moses’ encounter with the Burning Bush was read.

This section of the Negev is near the Egyptian border and is an IDF firing zone normally closed to the public. But Route 10 was opened for the first time in a decade to afford the public access to this optical phenomenon.

Mount Karkom is considered a possible candidate to have been Mount Sinai.  Italian archaeologist Emmanuel Anati supports this claim based on the findings of thousands of rock carvings, shrines, altars, tombs which imply that the mountain area was a Holy site.  The flat valley around the mountain offers a suitable place for an assembly of a large crowd, such as the event of Mt. Sinai. Evidence of gathering and worship can be seen all around the mountain. In the area of Mt. Karkom there are over 300 archaeological sites, including assembly places, 120 altars and temples, worship stages, monuments, small temporary settlements, and tombs. The mountain also contains one of the largest concentrations of rock-engraved paintings in the country, with about 44,000 rock paintings discovered in its area. However, there are no signs of permanent places of residence. The archaeological sites date to about 5,000 years ago (3rd Millennium BC) and continue until the Byzantine period.

A strange disease, as yet unidentified, has killed almost one hundred people in Sudan, a country already groaning under a number of plagues of near biblical proportions.

MYSTERIOUS ILLNESS
In November, the South Sudan Health Ministry began reporting deaths from a mysterious illness that, to date, has killed at least 97 people, mainly the elderly and children aged between 1 and 14. In response to the reports, the World Health Organization (WHO) sent a rapid response team to investigate.

The main symptoms that victims are experiencing include diarrhea, high fever, joint pain, vomiting, body weakness, loss of appetite, and chest pain.

On Thursday, the brightest comet of the year, Comet Leonard, also known as Comet C/2021 A1, passed by Venus on its way out of the Solar System, never to return.
Comet Leonard made its closest approach to Earth on December 12, at which point it was still more than 21 million miles away from Earth, about 88 times the distance from Earth to the moon. The comet currently can be spotted low in the evening sky, just after sunset. According to Arizona University’s A News, the comet can be seen low in the southwestern sky just around sunset.  Leonard will make its closest pass at the sun on January 3, will then disappear for 80,000 years.

The comet was named after its discoverer, Gregory Leonard, a senior research specialist at the University of Arizona Lunar and Planetary Laboratory who found the comet during a routine observation run last January 3.

Leonard last passed through this section of the solar system 80,000 years ago and then again 40,000 years ago. 

“This is the last time we are going to see the comet,” Leonard said. “It’s speeding along at escape velocity, 44 miles per second. After its slingshot around the sun, it will be ejected from our solar system, and it may stumble into another star system millions of years from now.”

Even if anyone is around to notice the comet’s next pass in 80,000 years, it may not happen. By late November, observers noticed not getting brighter as comets should during their approach to the sun. 

The appearance of the new light in the night sky could have much bigger implications for the earth-bound. Such an appearance was described in the Biblical prophecy of Balaam which hails the appearance of a new star as the precursor to Messiah.

“It’s not great news. The comet should be brighter and brighter,” Quanzhi Ye, an astronomer at the University of Maryland who specializes in comets, told Space.com. “If it’s not getting brighter then something’s wrong, but we don’t know exactly what at this stage.”
Some experts suggest the comet may be falling apart. 
“Comets do all sorts of weird things,” Ye said. “Sometimes they disintegrate before reaching perihelion, sometimes after, and there are even hypotheses saying that comets can disintegrate when they’re farther out from the sun. So we won’t know until we see it happen.”

Covid vaccine manufacturer Pfizer gave 8.6 million ($2.7 million) shekel to the Israeli Health Ministry in 2020 according to a report published by the Israeli Health Ministry on Wednesday. This marks a ten percent increase from the previous year when the amount was 7.8 million shekel reports Globes.

Since 2012, Pfizer has donated approximately 44.7 million shekalim to Israel’s Health Ministry. Pfizer gave about 1.2 million shekalim to the Israeli doctor’s union and an additional 1.2 million to the Sheba Hospital Research Fund. The pharmaceutical giant also gave 840,000 shekels to the Carmel Medical Center, 460,000 shekel was given to the Ne’eman Foundation, 426,000 shekel to the Mor Research Applications is the Technology Transfer Office of Clalit Health Services, the largest HMO in Israel, providing end-to-end technology transfer services. They also gave NIS 402,000 to Ariel University.
Aside from Pfizer other pharmaceutical companies donated to Israel’s Ministry of Health. For example, Bristol Meyers donated 9.9 million, Teva Pharmaceuticals gave NIS 8.2 million. In total, NIS 75 million was donated to Israeli health institutions – an increase of 2.6%.
According to the data, the Maccabi HMO is the largest recipient of donations enjoying 37 million shekels. Other Health Ministry institutions that received large donations include the Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon who received 22.4 million shekel, and Bar-Ilan University with 18 million shekel.

The Splitting of the Sea
The exodus is a powerful and inspirational story of uprising against oppression and of divine intervention. But did it really happen? Can any of the story be substantiated by empirical evidence? Are chariot wheels found on the floor of the red sea that date back to 1400 BCE enough to prove that the red sea actually split. Did the Israelites and the Egyptians actually passed through on dry land as the Bible relates?

The question here is a question of faith as opposed to empirical proof. The Jewish People have lived and died based on their faith throughout the centuries. It is exciting to discover evidence that the splitting of the Red Sea took place. However, it doesn’t necessarily mean that faith becomes a thing of the past. On the contrary, in this modern age, faith is something that is near extinction. If you can’t prove it, capture it on film, show the mathematical or physical basis for it, then, it’s not likely that it’s real. Someone who lives with faith, lives in a different realm. Thus, for a religious person, proof of the Bible’s authenticity isn’t necessarily an earth shattering revelation – but more of a point of interest. In Jewish tradition, the Creation of the world shows that there is a Creator and the exodus demonstrates divine intervention, that G-d actually gets involved in what happens in His world. Where does science and archaeology fit in? It is in essence the backdrop for what a person with faith has always believed. But some of it is simply unbelievable. It connects us to the Bible stories like nothing else.

After being lost for 1,600 years, the Biblical blue dye is returning in force. With over 270,000 sets of fringes being made to date, the factory that produces the pigment from the murex snail is gearing up to triple its production. But they know that the redemption is near and the Third Temple will need even more of the precious dye to start operations.

TECHELET
Ptil Tekhelet, a non-profit based in Kfar Adumim,  produces the special Biblically mandated indigo dye made from the murex snail used in the mitzvah of tztitzit (fringes) that every Jewish man is commanded to wear on a four-cornered garment. 

Techelet is a blue dye highly prized by ancient Mediterranean civilizations and mentioned 49 times in the Hebrew Bible. It was used in the clothing of the High Priest, the tapestries in the Tabernacle, and in tzitzit (ritual fringes worn by Jewish men). 

The dye can be collected by crushing the snails, or by laboriously milking the snails and collecting the excretion. 12,000 snails might yield 1.4 grams of dye, which is only enough to color the trim of a single garment. Because of this, this Royal Blue or Royal Purple dye was very expensive, making it an almost exclusive sign of kingship and royalty. Purple dye was considered a color of prestige during the Roman period so much so that at certain points in time the common masses were forbidden from wearing the color. Interestingly, the color of this dye becomes more vibrant when left in the sun, and it is possible that different versions of the color can be made by making the dye in the sun or in the shade.

Baruch Sterman has spent more than 30 years working to revive this Biblical commandment. In 1988, he and a few others went on a diving expedition in search of Murex snails before going on to co-found the Ptil Tekhelet. 

After years of research by various experts, the Ptil Tekhelet organization began making threads dyed in techelet in 1991, producing about 300 sets of four in the first year. According to their website, they have to date produced an astounding 270,000 sets of the holy threads 

But even that astounding amount is not enough. The demand for the Biblical pigment is growing by leaps and bounds and the organization plans to triple its production over the next year.

“We took a hit during the pandemic but the demand is returning even stronger,” Sterman said. “We need to meet this demand and prepare for what seems to be coming down the road. When a person begins to wear techelet, he will do so for the rest of his life, as will his children. Many of the people are new to techelet and a large percentage are newly religious. But more and more, we are seeing what would be considered mainstream Orthodox Jews.”

Sterman has a powerful insight into the timely return of this mitzvah. He noted that the text in the Torah commanding Jews to wear techelet was always available and Jews continued to wear techelet even after the Temple was destroyed.

“We didn’t forget the mitzvah. Techelet was taken away from us,” Sterman said. “The Romans outlawed it for religious Jews, restricting it to only the elite, the royals, and for secular purposes. The production of techelet was highly lucrative. There was termendous oppression. Tecehelet identified the Jews. It was a source of national pride and national identity.”

Soon after the Roman decrees, the details of its production including the identity of the dye’s source were lost.

“The 7th century was the final destruction of the Jewish identity in the land of Israel. That is when techelet was finally lost,” Sterman said. “Techelet is making a comeback now because we are returning to our national identity and pride. Israel never needed to invent a flag. The Israeli flag is modeled after the tallit and its colors, our national colors are techelet and white.”

Sterman cited Rabbi Isaac Luria, a 16th century mystic, who taught that the mitzvah (Torah commandment) of putting a thread of blue in tzitzit will return coincidentally with the Messiah.

“When the Third Temple is built, we will need to increase our production even more,” Sterman said. “The Temple requires a ton of techelet.” 

HEART OF STONE; HEART OF FLESH
Yosef Steinberg runs the organization Uzchartem (you will remember) which helps raise awareness of the mitzvah of techelet. He has helped influence at least 6,000 people over the last six years. Steinberg explained that his initiative was influence by Malcolm Gladwell’s book, The Tipping Point, which examines how small and seemingly insignificant practical changes can influence large sociological phenomena.

“I feel that we are close to the tipping point now,” Steinberg said. “Many people are wearing the techelet but I know of about 1,000 Haredi Jews in one community near Jerusalem who secretly wear the techelet under their clothes because it is not accepted in their communities. As soon as it becomes a little more mainstream, it will immediately be all over the place.”

Steinberg understands the recent interest in this long-neglected mitzvah is due to the rapidly approaching geula. He cited a mishna that states that the morning Shema prayer can be said when it is light enough to differentiate between the techelet thread in the tzitzit garment and the white threads.

“This can be understood as a parable that techelet can only really be seen in the light of redemption,” “Steinberg said. “Everyone knows that we are standing in front of the light of geula (redemption). The exile is all dark and when it starts to be light, when we are in a geula period of time we can see the techelet. We have to prepare for this. The Temple is a big part of this process and we need techelet for the Temple.”

“Every mitzvah corresponds to a part of the body,” Steinberg said. “The tzitzit correspond to the heart and awaken the heart to serving God. The return of the mitzvah of techelet is returning our hearts to God, turning our hearts of stone to hearts of flesh,” he added, paraphrasing Ezekiel 36:26. 

RARE COLOR
Techelet was undoubtedly rare and mere hints have been found to date. The archeological dig in Tel Shikmona located south of Haifa revealed an Iron Age settlement that dates back to the 11th to 6th centuries BCE century BCE that researchers concluded hosted a factory for the production of the valuable dye. The Temple Mount Sifting Project (TMSP) uncovered  more than 20 murex trunculus shells in dirt taken from the Temple Mount. In 2014, The Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) confirmed that a 2,000-year-old piece of fabric from the Wadi Murabba’at caves located south of Qumran was dyed using the extract from the murex snail. Archaeologists at Tel Aviv University (TAU) discovered reserved pieces of cloth from King David and King Solomon’s time at ancient copper mines in the Timna Valley in Israel’s southern Negev desert that had been colored with techelet.
