Please Pray for a dear friend Brenda Gravely
Seriously Ill in Hospital. It is not a stroke but very much like.
Today in my memories this is what she had sent me 6 years ago.
I visited Turkey twice the last time was opposite Patmos. Very grateful to have this.

Cave on the Isle of Patmos

These pictures were taken where the Apostle John received Revelation. They were shared with me by a friend whose friend actually took these pictures.

Revelation was written to The Church. Seven Churches – Symbolic of The Church of All Ages received the message.

The seven specific churches receiving the messages from Jesus through John were located in what is now known as Turkey. When John wrote the book of Revelation modern day Turkey was known as the Roman province of Asia Minor. The Isle of Patmos, where John was exiled when he wrote Revelation, was off the shore of Turkey.

When studying the messages to The Church, it helps to understand the "setting" in which the message was given. The symbolism in the message to the specific church is reflective of their unique setting and circumstances.

The book of Revelation written by John on the Isle of Patmos is "The Revelation of Jesus Christ," (Revelation 1:1). Each of the messages to The Church begins with an important "Revelation of Jesus Christ" that was seen in Revelation 1. The specific revelation about Jesus is the central point of the message to that particular church. The messages to the church also contain areas of praise and reprimand. And, they contain warnings and promises.

These messages to the church are presented in the order shown below. The dominant characteristic of the specific church to which the message is written is also shown.

1. Ephesus - The Church that ". . . hast left thy first love."

2. Smyrna - The Suffering Church

3. Pergamos - The Church with Compromise

4. Thyatira - The Church with Apostacy

5. Sardis - The "Spiritually Dead" Church

6. Philadelphia - The "Faithful, Holy and True" Church

7. Laodicea - The"Unfaithful, Unholy, Untrue" Church
