What is the Star of David?
The Star of David is a symbol that is widely associated with Judaism. The star appears on Israel's flag, and it can also be found on countless Jewish items, from books and scrolls to synagogues and jewelry. During World War II, the Nazis used the Star of David to quickly identify Jewish people and businesses, marking them for persecution. Later, the Star of David was associated with the Zionism movement that worked for the establishment of a Jewish nation in Israel. This symbol has also been associated with the branch of Jewish mysticism known as Kabbalah.

Interpretation of colors. The blue stripes are intended to symbolize the stripes on a tallit, the traditional Jewish prayer shawl. The Star of David is a widely acknowledged symbol of the Jewish people and of Judaism. In Judaism, the color blue symbolises God's glory, purity and gevurah (God's severity).
