London street artist draws big Israel heart in Trafalgar Square after man wipes out Israeli flag from his display

A London street artist showed respect to Israel after an anti-Israel bigot ruined his display of world flags this week.
A video shared online shows how hatred of Israel can spill over into irrational behaviour and aggression towards others simply at the sight of the Israeli flag.
The video starts by explaining that Adrian is a street artist who has drawn the flags of the world in Trafalgar Square in London.

“My idea is to show people that peace can be everywhere,” Adrian says in the video.

The video then switches to a confrontation between an angry Israel hater and those around him. The man angrily wiped out the Israeli flag on the floor, smudging the chalk image with his trainers.

He is then seen arguing with a woman who confronts the man and taunts him, saying, “I am a Jew… what are you going to do to me?”. The man gets even more angry and shouts and aggressively gestures at the woman.

“I know exactly where he comes from, this guy: ‘Palestine’,” Adrian says, “I’ve never seen anyone from Israel going on the Palestine flag and saying, ‘I don’t like this one.'”

Adrian himself can see the difference in the way Israelis treat the Palestinians and the way the Palestinians treat Israel. While most Israelis want to make peace with the Palestinians, the sad reality is that most Palestinians want Israel wiped off the face of the earth – something they will never achieve.

The anti-Israel man was eventually moved away by police. And as that happens, a little girl, who seems to be shocked by the man’s behaviour, starts to redraw the Israeli flag, but Adrian had a better idea.

He brings the child away from the display and draws a large flag of Israel inside a heart, giving Israel’s flag its own specific display. It was a gesture that shows that Adrian is a man of integrity.

An antisemitic man attempted to ruin a display and wipe Israel off the street art. Instead, his attempts at removing Israel resulted in Israel’s flag having a unique and larger display of its own.
Antisemitism never wins.

If you’ve had enough of countless petitions on ‘transitioning’, I don’t blame you. Thinking about the madness can breed madness.

So this one is about another kind of ‘transition’. Plans - that ominous word again - are being drawn up to implement a centrally-controlled digital currency to eventually replace cash in the UK, probably in tribute to Lenin.

Soon cash will be gone and with it, the remnants of an economy that is comparatively unregulated, unsurveilled and unsupervised by central banks and governments.

Once that happens, all financial activity will be subject to government review and approval.

On the latest edition of BBC Moral Maze, my co-panellists and I discussed the morality of maintaining and enforcing national borders.

The government has persistently failed to stop the small boats bringing thousands of “asylum-seekers” to British shores from France in illegal people-smuggling routes across the English Channel. The Illegal Migration Bill, which is currently making its way through Parliament, proposes that people who come to the UK “illegally” will be detained and permanently removed. The Commons Joint Committee on Human Rights concludes that the bill “breaches a number of the UK’s international human rights obligations”.

Migration brings into focus the competing world-views of universalism and national identity. Universalists argue national borders are either irrelevant, unhelpful or actively malign, that the nation is an impediment to the brotherhood of mankind and that those who oppose mass immigration are racist xenophobes. The opposite view holds that mass immigration threatens to overwhelm a nation, that national cohesion is vital and is threatened by mass immigration, and that without effective borders a nation ceases to exist.

How much should a country be willing to compromise the integrity of its borders out of compassion for non-citizens? Is it unjust to see people differently, based on where lines are drawn on a map? Would a world without borders be a better place?

My co-panellists were Tim Stanley, Mona Siddiqui and Ash Sarkar. Our witnesses were Dr David Walker, Bishop of Manchester; Dr Adrian Hilton, Anglican theologian and educationist; Dr Javier Hidalgo, associate Professor of Leadership Studies at the University of Richmond, Virginia; and Paul Morland, demographer and associate research fellow at Birkbeck, University of London.

He is absolutely right, so here goes:

Conveying the IDF’s moral approach: Israel has to show the world that its security forces do everything possible to prevent harm to journalists and civilians of all ages, while its enemies purposely try to harm our civilians and express public jubilation when they do. Israel’s ability to get that message out effectively – and to correct misinformation when the IDF’s actions are misreported – is lacking.

Israel faced that challenge Thursday when the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate accused the IDF of deliberately targeting Palestinian reporters who were harmed covering the razing of the home of a terrorist who murdered Israeli children in a recent bombing.

Warning the world about Iran: Despite its efforts, Israel has up short in persuading the world to take the nuclearization of Iran seriously enough. Reuters’ reports this week about the development of the new Iranian Fattah long-range missiles ended with a paragraph about how it is Israel that is strongly opposed to a nuclear deal with Iran and threatens military action if diplomacy fails.

An IDF official noted this week that Iran is getting more daring, because the world's focus has been on Ukraine, China and other places far from the Middle East. That missile can actually reach much farther than the Jewish state.

HonestReporting is working on persuading the international media to accurately report that Iran getting nukes is far from being a mere threat to Israel alone.

Ending antisemitic rants of Roger Waters: The entire Jewish world has failed badly if such a blatant antisemite still performs publicly and uses his concerts to promote his hatred of the Jewish people and the Jewish state. Performers who have expressed hatred for other minorities or harassed people have been blacklisted and their careers have ended, but Waters continues to fill European arenas.

The Times of London gave his concert in the British city of Birmingham last weekend a five-star rating, in a piece that quoted the rocker’s “explosive tirade” against the “‘antisemitism bullshit’ dogging him across Europe,” as well as his foul claim that criticism of him is somehow being directed “from Tel Aviv.”

HonestReporting's Rachel O'Donoghue revealed exclusively that music critic Mark Beaumont's headline and review in The Times were rewritten to tone down and sanitize the musician’s antisemitism. She complained to The Times, which has not responded.

So yes, Israel has its shortcomings, and we at HonestReporting have a long wish-list of how to help. Rishi Sunak said in his leadership bid that he would ban the IRGC. Its proscription has large support in Parliament. Some key government ministers also support the ban. But why has it not yet happened? Reports in the media claim that it is the Foreign Office that is blocking the move.

Here are a few reasons why the IRGC should be banned:
The IRGC represents a threat to UK citizens, the British Jewish Community, other UK nationals with connections to Israel and general British interests with the Middle East and Gulf states.

The IRGC supports, arms, trains and funds other terrorist organisations including Hezbollah, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the terror group that was responsible for firing over 1000 rockets indiscriminately into Israeli civilian areas earlier in May.

The IRGC’s Quds (Jerusalem) Force aims to act as an army with a mandate to export the Iranian revolution overseas and “liberate Palestine” through destroying Israel, which Iran describes as the “Zionist regime” and a “cancerous tumour” that must be “eradicated.”

Proscribing the IRGC would not prevent diplomatic engagement with Iran, it would make it clear which areas of Iranian activity are unacceptable.

The Labour party has stripped the party whip from its MP Diane Abbott for making grossly offensive comments about Jews.

To which some of us might well respond: so what took the party so long?

Abbott has a long history of making deeply prejudiced remarks about Israel. She repeatedly denied that the Labour Party under its former hard-left leader Jeremy Corbyn — which the Equality and Human Rights Commission found had acted unlawfully in its treatment of Jewish members — had a problem with rampant antisemitism. She called such claims

a smear against party members

and she also supported some of the party’s worst offenders.

This time, however, Abbott went too far. This time, her remarks couldn’t be dismissed as “just Israel criticism”.

Nemesis arrived in the form of a letter by Abbott published in today’s Observer, in which she objected to an article by Tomiwa Owolade. Under the headline “Racism In Britain Is Not A Black And White Issue”, Owolade argued that Irish, Jewish and Traveller communities all suffered from racism. He wrote:

Anyone who is white is privileged, we are told, and racism only affects people of colour. The problem with this view is that there are certain minorities who are seen as white and yet experience prejudice.

In fact, the two groups most likely to say they have experienced racist abuse, according to the survey, are Gypsy, Traveller and Roma communities and Jewish people. More than 60 per cent of Gypsy and Traveller people reported that they had experienced some form of racist assault. More than 55 per cent of Jewish people report the same.

This rather refreshing take on the left — challenging the shibboleth that only people of colour can be victims of prejudice — raised Abbott’s hackles. Exhibiting the intellectual and moral grasp for which she is famous, she wrote of the Jews and other groups mentioned by Owolade:

They undoubtedly experience prejudice. This is similar to racism and the two words are often used as if they are interchangeable. It is true that many types of white people with points of difference, such as redheads, can experience this prejudice. But they are not all their lives subject to racism. In pre-civil rights America, Irish people, Jewish people, and Travellers were not required to sit at the back of the bus. In apartheid South Africa, these groups were allowed to vote. And at the height of slavery, there were no white-seeming people manacled on the slave ships.

Before readers of this letter had time to clear the mess from the kitchen floor caused by dropping their breakfast marmalade, Abbott had been suspended from the party for her remarks which the party said were

deeply offensive and wrong.

This had the miraculous effect of causing Abbott suddenly to discover that Jews were the victim of racism after all! Different from redheads!! In a statement she rushed out, she wrote:

I wish to wholly and unreservedly withdraw my remarks and dissociate myself from them…Racism takes many forms, and it is completely undeniable that Jewish people have suffered its monstrous effects, as have Irish people, Travellers and many others. Once again, I would like to apologise publicly for the remarks and any distress caused as a result of them.

So how come she had written precisely the opposite in her Observer letter? Said Abbott:

The errors arose in an initial draft being sent.

Remarkable! Let’s imagine the circumstances in which that “initial draft” was sent despite it being the diametric opposite of what Abbott actually meant to say.

To hit the “send” button while still drafting a letter for publication is certainly a most unfortunate act of carelessness. But how come she wrote in that “initial draft” that “Jews don’t experience racism”, whereas what she actually meant to write was “of course Jews experience racism”?

Was there a hidden hand guiding her fingers on the keyboard? Was she gripped by an ecstatic vision of her lost leader, Jeremy Corbyn, whose ejection from the party for enabling antisemitism she still laments and whose dictated opinion she perhaps reproduced in a trance-like state? Had she in fact written two drafts — “Jews aren’t victims of racism/ Jews are victims of racism” — and accidentally pressed the “send” button while still weighing up which was most likely to burnish her credentials in Sir Keir Starmer’s New Model Labour Party?...

Last week, Israel’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited Rishi Sunak in Downing Street. The visit was important. Netanyahu sought the UK’s support to prevent an increasingly dangerous Iran from gaining nuclear weapons capability.

The Board of Deputies made little mention of his visit. On its website, the visit was almost airbrushed out of last week’s events altogether.

You don’t have to agree with Netanyahu’s judicial reforms, nor with anything that he does, to be appalled by the Board’s behaviour.

Giving him the cold shoulder was not only a shocking discourtesy. It not only diminished his aim to gain urgent backing against Iran. It not only ignored a mission of deep importance to the defence of Israel against an unconscionable threat.

By treating Israel’s democratic prime minister as a pariah — as if he were a tyrant or dictator — it also revealed that the Board has all the acumen of a left-wing agitprop placard.

By contrast, Gary Mond, chairman of the National Jewish Assembly, behaved like the grown-up in the room.

The Assembly, he said, was “delighted” to welcome Netanyahu. The talks were of paramount importance to stop Iran becoming a nuclear power and to promote UK-Israel trade.

The judicial reforms and the Israeli demonstrations against them were “issues for the Israeli government and Israeli citizens to resolve” and it wasn’t the UK’s place to interfere.

The Board’s behaviour also makes a mockery of the Jewish leadership’s professed concern that certain Israeli politicians promote hatred and division. The Chief Rabbi, Sir Ephraim Mirvis, wrote pointedly in the JC on the eve of Netanyahu’s visit that Jewish unity was a “sacred responsibility — for politicians, leaders, activists” and everyone else. For the Board, however, Jewish unity somehow excludes Netanyahu.

The spectre of community disunity rightly makes Jews shudder. History tells us that when we turn on each other, we open the way for our enemies to destroy us.

In Israel, profound divisions have been on distressing display in three months of mass protests.

Fuelling the hysteria has been secular Israelis’ deep fear of a government-run by Orthodox Jews.

A secular demonstrator contemptuously threw a wad of shekel notes at a group of dancing Charedim. Elsewhere, protesters with faces convulsed in hatred screamed abuse at Orthodox Jews leaving a synagogue.

Demonstrators marched through ultra-orthodox Bnei Brak in what looked like a deliberate provocation — only to be met with cakes and drinks. One protester was so moved by the residents singing “shalom aleichem” (welcome) that he removed his motorcycle helmet and wept.

Israelis are distraught at the cultural chasm that has opened up. Families and friends have fallen out badly in a collision of two diametrically opposed world views.

One side, fixated on the ultras in the coalition, blames Netanyahu for apparently opening the way to dictatorship and an Iran-style theocracy. They point as proof to Israel’s “heroes”, the elite military pilots who said they would refuse to serve an “undemocratic” government if the reforms passed.

The other side perceives a mob using disruption, violence and intimidation to hold the country hostage to force the democratically-elected government to do what the mob demands. This side views Netanyahu’s pausing the reforms as a surrender to that mob, and the pilots who threatened not to serve are seen as having crossed the ultimate red line and unthinkably undermined Israel in the existential struggle against its mortal foes.

I hold the latter view. However, fears about extremists in the government and the absence of political checks and balances are valid ones.

The essence of the problem is Israel’s dysfunctional political system. Instead of unity, it promotes division. Prime ministers are held to ransom by tiny parties in the coalition.

The Knesset is a rubber stamp for the government. Members of Knesset have no British-style constituencies to pressure them to hold the government’s feet to the fire. There is no second parliamentary chamber to act as a brake.

This is why the protesters see the Supreme Court as the only check on government overreach. They refuse to accept that this is itself profoundly anti-democratic, having replaced the rule of law with rule by politicised lawyers.

Israel’s dysfunctional system has released the demon of “post-democracy” that has escaped throughout the west. This holds that parliamentary representation has failed and street protest is a more legitimate form of democracy. It’s not; it’s a revolutionary doctrine that relies on force and empowers the strong against the weak.

Social cohesion is essential for Israel’s survival. For the past three months, Israel’s enemies have gleefully watched it tear itself apart. They have gloated as Israel’s elite forces turned mutinous. They have rejoiced as the prime minister once famed for his political skills has been laid low by a mob.

Israel has been weakened when it urgently needs to be strong. And all those who have been telling the world that Israel is about to stop being a democracy, and that its prime minister is a putative dictator who should become a political pariah, have unforgivably helped empower the enemies of the Jewish people.

The problem with the pro-euthanasia lobby is that they just cannot take no for an answer. The Scottish parliament has debated whether or not to legalise assisted suicide twice since 2010 and on both occasions voted conclusively against it and now, once again, an MSP is trying to introduce a bill to legalise the practice and putting pressure on the Scottish National Party.

I don’t know what these campaigners think has changed between now and then?! If anything, the pandemic was a reminder that it is the elderly and the most physically vulnerable who require the greatest protection. It was because this demographic was at the greatest risk of death that they were rightly first in line to receive the vaccine. Imagine the outcry if it had been suggested that their lives were less worthy of being saved?!
Join the campaign asking the SNP leadership candidates to reject any attempts to introduce assisted suicide into Scotland.

The Scottish National Party claim to be progressive, but there is absolutely nothing progressive or humane about the assumption that the lives of the chronically sick or the elderly are of lesser value.

Did anyone really imagine, on that glorious June morning in 2016 when we woke up to find that the people of the United Kingdom had voted to gain independence from European control over the laws passed by their democratically elected parliament, that they would actually be allowed to do so?

Did anyone really believe, in the unbelievable war of attrition that followed in which virtually the entire British establishment — the civil service, financiers, big business, most members of Parliament, the BBC and much of the media, the higher judiciary and legal world, in fact virtually the whole of the university-educated nomenklatura that had voted Remain and then worked hand-in-glove with the European Union to subvert that 2016 referendum vote and keep the UK trapped under EU control — that they wouldn’t win in the end?

If anyone did believe that, they now should be sadder and wiser. The so-called “Windsor Framework”, which Britain’s prime minister Rishi Sunak has agreed with the EU Commission president Ursula van der Leyen, is being hailed as a near-miraculous resolution of the dangerously destabilising problem created by the anomalous position of Northern Ireland within the UK.

Sunak is being extolled as a quiet genius for having untied the Gordian knot created by the 2020 Brexit deal negotiated by Boris Johnson, which left Northern Ireland inside the EU’s single market.

This Northern Ireland “Protocol” was included to avoid destabilising the fragile 1998 “Good Friday Agreement” which has brought peace between Ireland, which is a member of the EU, and Northern Ireland. But this Protocol created in effect a border between Britain and Northern Ireland down the middle of the Irish Sea, thus dismembering the United Kingdom.

The Protocol was a bad mistake, as I wrote here at the time. Boris Johnson’s subsequent attempt to resile from his own agreement was viewed as an unconscionable breach of international law. The EU refused to bend. The impasse seemed insoluble.

Now, though, the Windsor Framework consists of a number of concessions made by the EU. Who would have thought, people are marvelling, that the EU would ever make such concessions?

But although these will certainly ease a number of logistical difficulties and practical log-jams that have arisen in Northern Ireland as a result of the Protocol, they amount to minor window-dressing to conceal a far deeper EU victory.

For as a number of commentators have immediately realised, the UK has certainly not “taken back control” as Sunak has been boasting. On the contrary, Northern Ireland will remain under EU control. The de-facto border will still remain down the middle of the Irish Sea.

Sunak is obscuring this unpalatable fact. Differences between the UK’s version of the agreement, which it calls The Windsor Framework: A New Way Forward,” and the EU’s version, which it calls the Windsor Political Declaration, are instructive in this regard.

For example, the EU states:

The envisaged amendment does not amount to a change of the essential elements of the Withdrawal Agreement.

The UK fails to acknowledge this fact.

EU laws will continue to apply in Northern Ireland under the Protocol.

Northern Ireland will still be ultimately accountable to the European Court of Justice.

Its says instead that the new framework will address the Protocol’s “democratic deficit” by “changing and rewriting the core dynamic alignment legal text as it stood in the old Protocol” and “entrenching democratic oversight and ending the prospect of damaging new goods rules being imposed on Northern Ireland”.

Really? Just look at this. There will be an expanded “Trusted Trader” scheme with “ dramatically simplified procedures” related to the movement of goods. Controls will only be performed “if a risk is assessed or abuse detected”.

But the Trusted Trader scheme can be suspended unilaterally by the EU (or the UK). This, says the EU,

will allow the EU to react quickly to protect the integrity of the EU Single Market. If the trusted trader scheme is suspended, goods cannot be moved between Great Britain and Northern Ireland based on the customs facilitations granted to operators under the scheme. Consequently, all the movements of goods will be subject to the same requirements as those for goods at risk of entering the EU.

The UK will still be tied by the Northern Ireland Protocol. The Prime Minister declared, “We have changed the original Protocol”. But the EU’s explanatory note says:

The Windsor Framework has been fully carried out within the framework of the [2020] Withdrawal Agreement, of which the Protocol is an integral part… All new arrangements fall within this pre-established framework.

The framework supposedly provides Northern Ireland with a “Stormont Brake” which purports to allow Northern Ireland to say no to a specific EU law. Yet in practice this safeguard will be non-existent. As the EU admits:

That mechanism could be triggered in the most exceptional circumstances and as a last resort.

Moreover, if Northern Ireland were to exercise such a veto the EU could retaliate with sanctions in other areas. And if the Northern Ireland Executive at Stormont — currently suspended because it is being boycotted by the Democratic Unionist Party —isn’t resurrected, the brake won’t exist at all.

Most important of all from the perspective of UK sovereignty, Northern Ireland will still be under the ultimate jurisdiction of the European Court of Justice. The EU rejected UK calls to replace the ECJ with an independent arbitration panel to rule on disputes. As Von der Leyen said when the deal was announced yesterday, the ECJ will remain the “sole and final arbiter of EU law”.

As the UK’s chief Brexit negotiator Lord Frost writes:

So the changes talked up by the Government aren’t always quite what they seem because they have to take place within this existing framework. For example, we are told that 1,700 pages of EU law have been “disapplied” in Northern Ireland. In fact, what has happened is that the EU says it will pass a law itself (it hasn’t yet) setting the conditions under which UK-standard food and drink may move from Great Britain to Northern Ireland. In this Kafka-esque world, “disapplication” of EU law is actually a new EU law — one which the EU can change or suspend unilaterally if it wishes…

The deal leaves a slightly amended Protocol and EU law in place in Northern Ireland and the EU has agreed to change its own laws so that they bite less tightly. That is worth having, but it isn’t taking back control. Indeed, it may entrench the Protocol superstructure rather than weaken it.

Worse still are the implications of this deal for the rest of the UK.

A key advantage of Brexit was that that the UK would be free to pursue its own policies that would give it a competitive edge over the EU. The EU, however, exists to negate other countries’ competitive advantage over itself. Sunak has agreed to destroy that advantage in Northern Ireland. We can now see very clearly that he intends this to be the same direction of travel for the rest of the UK.

Indeed, paragraph 52 of the UK text states specifically:

We also recognise, as we have done since 2020, that the Government needs to ensure that we monitor and tackle risks of regulatory divergence within the UK internal market.

So the British government believes that “regulatory divergence” — which would give it a competitive edge over the EU through promoting its own independent policies in the interests of the UK — is a risk?

Sunak inadvertently revealed his mindset by remarks he made on a visit yesterday to the Coca-Cola factory in Lisburn, near Belfast. He said:

If we get this right, if we get this framework implemented, if we get the Executive back up and running here, Northern Ireland is in the unbelievably special position — unique position in the entire world, European continent — in having privileged access, not just to the UK home market, which is enormous... but also the European Union single market.

Not surprisingly, this led a number of people to conclude that he wanted the same combination — Brexit and access to the EU’s single market — for the whole of the UK. Any such access inescapably entails EU control. This blunder forced Downing Street to deny that Sunak was endorsing EU single market benefits for the whole of the UK, claiming he had only meant to say that Northern Ireland

needed access to both markets because of its unique situation.

Given the details of his Windsor Framework deal, that really doesn’t wash.

So now we can see how the Brexit adventure is likely to end. The UK is to use its freedom from EU membership to sidle back under EU control. It is to use its so-bitterly regained sovereign independence from vassalage to tie its own hands to its former overlords. Even now, it still finds itself in the EU’s version of Hotel California —

You can check out any time you like but you can never leave.

No wonder a doe-eyed van der Leyen has swooned over Britain’s prime minister as “dear Rishi”.

At time of writing, the possible opposition to this fresh Brexit travesty appears to have collapsed. Nigel Farage, the individual who galvanised the British people to fight to restore their sovereign democratic independence, has left the battlefield. Northern Ireland’s Unionist politicians are split. Steve Baker, the former leader of the most implacable Brexiteers in Parliament but who has signalled he won’t oppose the Windsor Framework, is a beaten man, telling the BBC that seven years of the Brexit battle destroyed his mental health.

That battle took a toll on everyone. It destroyed friendships and families. No-one wants to go through all that again.

Brexit gave the UK a chance — very slim, but it was its one chance — that it could realise its potential and prosper in the world once again. It has so far failed to use this chance, not just because of Covid and Ukraine but also because of its profound, long-lasting structural problems — the collapse of education standards, the related decline of the civil service into mediocrity and outright incompetence, inept politicians who are followers rather than leaders, and the sapping effects of half a century of a culture of entitlement.

The public is deeply disappointed and discouraged that the benefits of Brexit have not yet been realised.

Now they never will be.

“AN ENORMOUS thud” - that’s the description of what the earth tremor that hit South Wales last night felt like.

A tremor occurred at 11.59 pm on Friday, February 24, with a magnitude of 3.8 magnitude about eight miles north of the Rhondda Valley, with the exact location being Llangenny - small village on the slopes of the Sugar Loaf Mountain.

Argus columnist Jon Powell, 55, was seven miles away from the epicentre of the tremor when it hit, in Gilwern, between Abergavenny and Brymawr.
He said it was like a train coming through, but was very short-lived.

“There was an enormous thud of about two to three seconds, a rumbling like a train going through all of a sudden we had security lights going off,” said Mr Powell. “I thought someone had fallen in the house. It was very quick, pretty weird and pretty intense.”

Incredibly, it’s not the first earthquake Mr Powell has experienced in Wales. He described how ten years ago he remembered a similar event in the same house, in the room next door to the one he was in for last night’s tremor.

Mr Powell, who is a bit of an authority on geology and astronomy, said the tremor – which he insisted should be termed a tremor rather than a quake – was nothing to worry about.

“To come up in Quake Feed and register, that is a decent tremor,” said Mr Powell. “It’s nothing to worry about though. It’s just a nudge from mother nature. These things can happen.”

In a statement released on Saturday morning, the UK's main provider of earthquake data, the British Geological Survey wrote: "BGS has received reports from residents throughout the region, mainly from within around 40km of the epicentre.”

The last earthquake recorded in the UK was apparently in Leighton Buzzard in Bedfordshire in September 22, 2020, with tremors of 3.0 and 2.1 magnitude.

The largest known earthquake in the UK was in the North Sea in June 7, 1931, according to the BGS, recording a magnitude of 6.1. Its epicentre was located offshore in the Dogger Bank area, approximately 120 km northeast of Great Yarmouth.
