Teach Us to Pray

"This is the assurance we have in approaching
God: that if we ask anything according to his
will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears
usÖ we have what we asked of him." (1 JOHN
5:14-15)
Scripture Focus: Luke 11:1-13

One of the extraordinary gifts that God has given
to His children is the gift of prayer. But we,
like the disciples, need Jesus to teach us to
pray. Left to ourselves, we are senseless and
ignorant before the Lord (Psalm 73:22). Christ,
however, gave Himself to prayer and set aside
precious time to converse with His Father. He is
the ultimate example, and He teaches us how to
pray by His Word and Spirit.

1 John 5:14-15 says that when we pray in faith
and in accordance with God's will, we can be
confident that our Father hears us and will
answer. But how do we know what God's will is? We
must search the Scriptures! When we pray God's
Word, we come into agreement with God's will and
can expect answers. The Holy Spirit helps us to
pray by interceding on our behalf in harmony with
God's will (Romans 8:26-27). The Holy Spirit
never contradicts the Holy Word.

Today, may the Holy Spirit fill our hearts with
God's Word so that we may know how to pray as
Jesus prayed.

Insight: Jesus said, "If you remain in me and my
words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and
it will be given you" (John 15:7).

Taste and See

"But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on His law he meditates day and night." (PSALM1:2)
"My soul is consumed with longing for your laws at all times." (PSALM 119:20)
Scripture Focus: Psalm 1

Can you recall a time when your mind and thoughts were glued to something? Before my wife and I were engaged, I spent hours upon hours thinking about the woman I hoped to marry. It was a thrill to discover everything I possibly could about her.

Psalm 1 addresses the fundamental importance of meditating on "the law of the Lord," which is the Word of God. It teaches that meditation on His Word is the way to blessedness. In fact, it reveals that "delighting" in God's law and "meditating" on it go hand in hand. God doesn't just want our minds; He wants our hearts.

There are many things in this world that vie for our attention. But none compares to the eternal, true, and beautiful words of Scripture. What else could make us wise, preserve us from sin, and free us to be the people God calls us to be? Christ invites us to the banqueting table where we can "taste and see that the Lord is good" (Psalm 34:8). When we feast on God's Word, we commune with Jesus Himself.
Insight: Do You Delight In The Law Of The Lord? Do You Meditate On Scripture? May God Produce Within Us A Holy Appetite For His Word.

The Inerrant Word

"All Scripture is God-breathed" (2 Timothy 3:16a) "When you received
the Word of God you accepted it not as the word of men, but as it
actually is, the Word of God." (1 Thessalonians 2:13)
Scripture Focus: 2 Timothy 3:14-17

We are all on a quest for truth. Every day, we are bombarded with
lies that lure us down paths of emptiness and destruction. Praise God
that there is a divine and ultimate Truth we can know with certainty
(Luke 1:4)! Every word of God is flawless (Proverbs 30:5a) and the
sum of His Word equals Truth (Psalm 119:160). The Holy Scriptures are
completely trustworthy and sufficient because they come from a Holy
God. They have the unique power to transcend time, culture, and human
reasoning and are equally as relevant today as they were two thousand
years ago.

A house built on shifting sand is sure to collapse. In the same way,
we cannot build our lives on changing ideologies. But God our Father
does not change like shifting shadows, and He has given us His
absolute Word that we may confidently rest on (James 1:17-18). Our
LORD Jesus is the same yesterday, today and always (Hebrews 13:8)! In
an ever-changing world, how awesome it is to know that we can trust
in The Inerrant Word.

Insight: Do You Believe That The Bible Is The Very Word Of God? If
So, Do You Allow Its Infallible Truth To Permeate Your Life?

The Living Water

"The Lord will guide you always; He will satisfy your needs in a
sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a
well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail." (ISAIAH
58:11)
Scripture Focus: Isaiah 55:1-11

Do you ever feel as though you are wandering through a barren desert?
Does your thirsty soul long for something more in a "dry and weary
land where there is no water" (Psalm 63:1)? Have you been looking to
the waters of this world to satisfy, only to be left wanting? Jesus
said that those who drink the waters of this world will thirst again,
but those who drink the water He gives will be completely satisfied
(John 4:13-14). He is the Spring whose waters never fail, and He
beckons you this day to come and drink freely the water of life
(Revelation 22:17).

Trees need water in order to survive and bear fruit. We, too, must
soak in the Living Water if our lives are going to flourish and bear
God-honoring fruit. As the earth opens wide to receive God's gift of
rain, so must our hearts break open wide to drink of His fertile,
life-giving Word (see Deuteronomy 32:2). Through it, He causes rains
of grace to fall upon a sun-scorched soul, yielding new life with the
green of spring.

Insight: Those Who Drink The Living Water Of God's Word Become "Oaks
Of Righteousness, The Planting Of The Lord, That He May Be Glorified"

(Isaiah 61:3B).

The Shepherd's Voice

"I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me - just
as the Father knows me and I know the Father - and I lay down my life
for the sheep." (JOHN 10:14-15)
Scripture Focus: John 10:1-18

On July 8, 2005, stunned onlookers watched helplessly as 450 sheep
plummeted to their deaths near the Turkish village of Gevas. The
wooly train wreck started when one sheep walked off a cliff, luring
more than 1,500 others to follow suit.

Sheep are known for being easily distracted, directionless, and
defenseless. They utterly depend on the shepherd to provide for,
preside over, and protect them. The Bible often refers to us as
sheep, saying, "We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has
turned to his own way" (Isaiah 53:6).

The prophet Ezekiel foretold the coming of a Good Shepherd
(34:11-24), the Messiah, who would save and defend His sheep. Jesus
is the Good Shepherd who laid down His life for the sheep. He is our
only protection against the "thieves and robbers" who seek to steal
our joy and peace. The more time we spend grazing in the verdant
pastures of God's Word and drinking from the waters of Truth, the
more recognizable His voice will be.

Insight: We Must Daily Fill Our Hearts And Minds With God's Word So
That We Can Distinguish Truth From Lies. Do You Know The Shepherd's
Voice?

'MEET ME IN THE STAIRWELL'

You say you will never forget where you were when
you heard the news On September 11, 2001.
Neither will I.

I was on the 110th floor in a smoke filled room
with a man who called his wife to say 'Good-Bye.' I
held his fingers steady as he dialed. I gave him the
peace to say, 'Honey, I am not going to make it, but it
is OK..I am ready to go.'

I was with his wife when he called as she fed
breakfast to their children. I held her up as she
tried to understand his words and as she realized
he wasn't coming home that night.

I was in the stairwell of the 23rd floor when a
woman cried out to Me for help. 'I have been
knocking on the door of your heart for 50 years!' I said.
'Of course I will show you the way home - only
believe in Me now.'

I was at the base of the building with the Priest
ministering to the injured and devastated souls.
I took him home to tend to his Flock in Heaven. He
heard my voice and answered.

I was on all four of those planes, in every seat,
with every prayer. I was with the crew as they
were overtaken. I was in the very hearts of the
believers there, comforting and assuring them that their
faith has saved them.

I was in Texas , Virginia , California , Michigan , Afghanistan .
I was standing next to you when you heard the terrible news.
Did you sense Me?

I want you to know that I saw every face. I knew
every name - though not all knew Me. Some met Me
for the first time on the 86th floor.

Some sought Me with their last breath.
Some couldn't hear Me calling to them through the
smoke and flames; 'Come to Me... this way... take
my hand.' Some chose, for the final time, to ignore Me.
But, I was there.

I did not place you in the Tower that day. You
may not know why, but I do. However, if you were
there in that explosive moment in time, would you have
reached for Me?

Sept. 11, 2001, was not the end of the journey
for you. But someday your journey will end. And I
will be there for you as well. Seek Me now while I may
be found. Then, at any moment, you know you are
'ready to go.'

I will be in the stairwell of your final moments.

God
During the next 60 seconds, stop whatever you are
doing, and take this opportunity. (Literally it
is only 1 minute.) All you have to do is the
following:

Stop and think and appreciate God's power
in your life, for doing what you know is pleasing to
Him. If you are not ashamed to do this, follow the
instructions. Jesus said, 'If you are ashamed of Me, I will be
ashamed of you before My Father.'

If you are not ashamed, copy and send this message...only
if you believe 'Yes, I love my God. He is my
fountain of Life and My Savior. He Keeps me going day and
night. Without Him, I am no one. But with Him, I can do
everything. Christ is my strength.'

The Most Important Prayer

"Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came
toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning
to sink, cried out, 'Lord, save me!'" (MATTHEW 14:29-30)
Scripture Focus: Matthew 14:22-33

Peter had extraordinary faith when he stepped out of the boat. But
that faith wavered when he realized walking on water was impossible.
Fear came, and he began to sink. He knew he was in danger of
drowning. Nothing he could do would rescue him from certain death.
Then he prayed the most important prayer anyone could pray: "Lord,
save me!" Immediately, Jesus reached out His hand and caught him.

There came a time in my life when I, like Peter, knew I couldn't save
myself. Only Jesus could rescue me from eternal death. So I admitted
my need for Him and prayed Peter's same prayer. "Lord, save me!" He
immediately came into my life. I knew I was safe forever.

If you are reading this and have never called out to Jesus to save
you, now is the perfect time. No matter where you are or how the
turmoil of this world swirls around you, this is time to admit you
cannot save yourself. Put all your faith, hope and confidence in
Jesus whose mighty arm reaches out and pulls you to safety.

Insight: We All Are On The Precarious Sea Of Life; The Wisest Thing
To Do Is Ask Jesus To Come Into Our Lives And Save Us.

The Kingdom, Power and Glory Forever

"For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.
Amen." (MATTHEW 6:13B, KJV)
"Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the
majesty and the splendor." (1 CHRONICLES 29:11)
Scripture Focus: 1 Chronicles 29:10-20

Performing a wedding at a nearby location, I was taken off guard when
everyone present recited the Lord's Prayer but only a few spoke the
words, "Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory forever,"
(NKJV) at the end. Members of the other church were silent at that
part so that it sounded like half of a duet had stopped singing.

Though this portion of verse 13 is not included in some versions of
the Bible, I think it reaffirms the beginning of the Lord's Prayer.
Our Father in Heaven, Your name is hallowed. Your kingdom come. Your
will be done. It reminds us of who is in charge of the universe. It
emphasizes God is ruler of His kingdom. He is all-powerful, and the
glory of His presence fills eternity. A fitting end to the Lord's
Prayer, it reminds me of King David's prayer recorded in 1 Chronicles
29.

Include this closing phrase of the Lord's Prayer. Let it be a
rallying cry for those of us who put our trust solidly in the One to
whom all glory and power belong forever.

Insight: His Kingdom Is Forever. When We Open Our Hearts To Jesus, We
Become Members Of His Forever Kingdom.

Creation's Message

"How many are your works, O Lord! In wisdom you made them all; the
earth is full of your creatures... May the glory of the Lord endure
forever; may the Lord rejoice in his works." (PSALM 104:24, 31)
Scripture Focus: Genesis 1; Colossians 1:15-20

From the beginning of time God has communicated through creation.
Just look at what it shouts to us about Him: the planets in perfect
alignment; the earth, perfectly fitted and tilted on its axis; the
sun, not too far and not too close; the natural cycle of water;
predictable seasons and profuse variety of plant life; the animal
world in its complexity of balance and form. What message does such a
magnificent creation give about its Creator? That He is perfection in
every way - in knowledge, skill, care, and character. Not once has
spring followed summer or the earth tipped off its axis. Creation
came from God's perfect knowledge and skill and is sustained through
His perfect care.

Scripture also tells us that God's Son was intimately involved in our
creation, that "by him all things were created," and that "he is
before all things and in him all things hold together" (Colossians
1:16-17). The same Jesus who came to earth as a tiny baby was with
the Father in the creation of this world and of you. Let's delight in
the wonder of that throughout this Christmas season.

Insight: We Think Of Jesus Being Born In Bethlehem, But He Is The
"Firstborn Over All Creation" - The Very One Who Created And For Whom
Creation Was Made.

READ THIS VERY SLOWLY... IT'S PRETTY PROFOUND.

Too many people put off something that brings them joy just because
they haven't thought about it, don't have it on their schedule,
didn't know it was coming or are too rigid to depart from their
routine.

I got to thinking one day about all those people on the Titanic who
passed up dessert at dinner that fateful night in an effort to cut
back. From then on, I've tried to be a little more flexible.

How many women out there will eat at home because their husband
didn't suggest going out to dinner until after something had been
thawed? Does the word 'refrigeration' mean nothing to you?

How often have your kids dropped in to talk and sat in silence while
you watched ' Jeopardy ' on television?

I cannot count the times I called my sister and said , 'How about
going to lunch in a half hour?' She would gas up and stammer, 'I
can't. I have clothes on the line. My hair is dirty. I wish I had
known yesterday, I had a late breakfast, It looks like rain' And my
personal favorite: 'It's Monday.' She died a few days ago. We never
did have lunch together.

Because we cram so much into our lives, we tend to schedule our
headaches.. We live on a sparse diet of promises we make to ourselves
when all the conditions are perfect!

We'll go back and visit the grandparents when we get Steve
toilet-trained. We'll entertain when we replace the living-room
carpet. We'll go on a second honeymoon when we get two more kids out
of college.

Life has a way of accelerating as we get older. The days get shorter,
and the list of promises to ourselves gets longer. One morning, we
awaken, and all we have to show for our lives is a litany of 'I'm
going to,' 'I plan on,' and 'Someday, when things are settled down a
bit.'

When anyone calls my 'seize the moment' friend, she is open to
adventure and available for trips. She keeps an open mind on new
ideas. Her enthusiasm for life is contagious. You talk with her for
five minutes, and you're ready to trade your bad feet for a pair of
Rollerblades and skip an elevator for a bungee cord.

My lips have not touched ice cream in 10 years. I love ice cream.
It's just that I might as well apply it directly to my stomach with a
spatula and eliminate the digestive process. The other day, I stopped
the car and bought a triple-decker. If my car had hit an iceberg on
the way home, I would have died happy.

Now....go on and have a nice day. Do something you WANT to...not
something on your SHOULD DO list. If you were going to die soon and
had only one phone call you could make, who would you call and what
would you say? And why are you waiting? I had a friend from high
school that I was always going to call and never did. The other day
her name was in the obituaries so we never had that chat.

Make sure you read this to the end; you will understand why I sent this to you.

Have you ever watched kids playing on a merry go round or listened to
the rain lapping on the ground? Ever followed a butterfly's erratic
flight or gazed at the sun into the fading night? Do you run through
each day on the fly? When you ask, 'How are you?' Do you hear the
reply?

When the day is done, do you lie in your bed with the next hundred
chores running through your head? Ever told your child, 'We'll do it
tomorrow.' and in your haste, not see his sorrow? Ever lost touch?
Let a good friendship die? Just call to say 'Hi'?

When you worry and hurry through your day, it is like an unopened
gift....Thrown away.... Life is not a race. Take it slower. Hear the
music before the song is over.

Show your friends how much you care. Send this to everyone you
consider a FRIEND including me if you consider me a friend. If it
comes back to you, it affirms your circle of friends.

To those I have sent this to... I cherish our friendship and
appreciate all you do.

'Life may not be the party we hoped for... but while we are here we
might as well dance!'

Layman's 10 Commandments.
Great Reading .
____________ _________ ________

Someone has written these beautiful words. Must read and try to
understand the deep meaning of it.
They are like the ten commandments to follow in life all the time.

1] Prayer is not a "spare wheel" that you pull out when in
trouble, but it is a "steering wheel" that directs the right path
throughout.

2] So a Car's WINDSHIELD is so large & the Rear view Mirror is so
small? Because our PAST is not as important as our FUTURE. So, Look
Ahead and Move on.

3] Friendship is like a BOOK. It takes few seconds to burn, but
it takes years to write.

4] All things in life are temporary. If going well, enjoy it, they
will not last forever. If going wrong, don't worry, they can't last
long either.

5] Old Friends are Gold! New Friends are Diamond! If you get a
Diamond, don't forget the Gold! Because to hold a Diamond, you always
need a Base of Gold!

6] Often when we lose hope and think this is the end, GOD smiles
from above and says, "Relax, sweetheart, it's just a bend, not the
end!

7] When GOD solves your problems, you have faith in HIS abilities;
when GOD doesn't solve your problems HE has faith in your abilities.

8] A blind person asked St. Anthony: "Can there be anything worse
than losing eye sight?" He replied: "Yes, losing your vision!"

9] When you pray for others, God listens to you and blesses them,
and sometimes, when you are safe and happy, remember that someone has
prayed for you.

10] WORRYING does not take away tomorrow's TROUBLES, it takes away
today's PEACE.

If you really enjoy this, please pass to others. It may brighten
someone's day...

Deliver Us from Evil

"And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one."
(MATTHEW 6:13)
Scripture Focus: James 1:2-18

This phrase of the Lord's Prayer raises questions. Does God ever lead
us into temptation? Are temptations the same as trials? James
explains the distinction between trials and temptations, saying that
God does not "tempt anyone; but each one is tempted, when, by his own
desire, he is dragged away and enticed" (James 1:13b-14). Many trials
do present temptation. And temptations certainly are trials. But the
two are quite different.

As we pray these words, we accept that God, for His divine purposes,
may order our lives in such a way that we face temptation. Satan
waits to pounce when those situations arise. Sometimes, in our human
weakness, we do not resist. Therefore, we pray that God would so
conquer the way of the world that we would escape temptation
altogether.

When Satan tried to entice Jesus in the wilderness, Jesus met his
words with the Word. Praise God we have the entire Bible to direct
us. Praise Him even further that we have a Savior who has rescued us
from all of Satan's evil traps.

Insight: Through Christ, We Can Resist Temptations. Where Temptation
Is, You Also Will Find The Loving Arms Of Jesus That Will Never Let
You Go.

Meet Our Needs Today

"Give us today our daily bread." (MATTHEW 6:11) "Jesus declared, 'I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.'" (JOHN 6:35)
Scripture Focus: Exodus 16:1-32, John 6:28-38

In our verse today Jesus identifies Himself as "I AM", the Becoming One, always the same, yet always becoming to His people (you and me) what they need. In Exodus manna was the bread God rained down each day for His people to eat during their time in the wilderness. The Lord instructed the people to collect only as much as they needed each day. If they collected more and saved it, the next morning it was spoiled and could not be eaten. But on the sixth day they were told to collect twice as much as usual, because the seventh day was the Sabbath, the day of rest. There would be no manna on that day. The morning of the seventh day they ate fresh, maggot-free manna. And so it continued throughout their wandering years.

Manna sustained physical life for the Jews in the barren desert. Jesus came from heaven to provide spiritual life for all who open their hearts to Him. He provides for our physical, emotional and spiritual needs. This miracle happens daily, always in exactly the portions we need.

Your Will Be Done

"He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion." (PHILIPPIANS 1:6) "For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose." (PHILIPPIANS 2:13)
Scripture Focus: Matthew 6:9-13

When I pray, "Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven," I ask the Lord to help me obey as the angels do. When God directs them to do something, they don't question, argue, or refuse. I want to live like that. But sometimes I become cantankerous and build a wall between us. However, I know that He will crash through that wall anytime He wants. In the deepest recesses of my heart, I desire His will for my life.

In the allegory, Hinds Feet on High Places, the heroine walks on a path leading to high places where God will fix her flaws. When the path meanders up the face of a mountain, she panics and calls for her Shepherd. He comes immediately. She tells Him she's changed her mind and doesn't want her imperfection fixed after all. She doesn't want to be on the high places with Him. Gently, He says, "My little maiden, I know your heart better than you do. I know you want to have your flaws healed and to be with me on high places." May God's will to draw you to Himself be done today.
Insight: God Knows Our Hearts Better Than We Do. He Knows Our Greatest Desire Is To Be With Him And To Have Him Correct Our Flaws.

Your Kingdom Come

"Pilate summoned Jesus and asked Him, 'Are you king of the Jews?'
Jesus said, 'My kingdom is not of this world, my kingdom is from

Scripture Focus: Matthew 6:9-13, John 18:29-38

During His ministry Jesus said, "The kingdom of God is near. Repent
and believe the good news" (Mark 1:15) When Jesus comes again at the
close of this age, He will set up His physical, earthly kingdom here.
But for now, His kingdom is spiritual, made up of all who repent and
believe that Jesus' death on the cross frees them from sin.

Jesus, righteous King of kings and Lord of lords, will rule supreme.
He will establish His complete love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (see Galatians
5:22-23) in the new earth. Kings rule over their subjects. But the
Bible says our Righteous King does not consider us subjects but
friends and family.

Today, as kingdom people, we are freed from the chains of sin. Jesus
helps us overcome our deadly enemy. This doesn't mean that we won't
experience difficulties in this life. It does mean that Kingdom
people will never experience God's wrath. Jesus already endured that
at the cross for us.

Insight: As Kingdom People When We Pray "Your Kingdom Come," We Are
Asking Jesus To Rule In Our Hearts And Minds Today.

Evening Prayer

Someone has said that if Christians really understood the full extent
of the power we have available through prayer, we might be
speechless. Did you know that during WWII there was an advisor to
Churchill who organized a group of people who dropped what they were
doing every day at a prescribed hour for one minute to collectively
pray for the safety of England, its people and peace?

There is now a group of people organizing the same thing here in
America. If you would like to participate: Every evening at 9:00 PM
Eastern Time (8:00 PM Central) (7:00 PM Mountain) (6:00 PM Pacific),
stop whatever you are doing and spend one minute praying for the
safety of the United States, our troops, our citizens, and for a
return to a Godly nation. If you know anyone else who would like to
participate, please pass this along. Our prayers are the most
powerful asset we have. Please forward this to your praying friends.

Our Father in Heaven

"For this is what the high and lofty One says--he who lives for ever, whose name is holy: 'I live in a high and holy place, but also with him who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite.'" (ISAIAH 57:15)
Scripture Focus: Matthew 6:9-13

We use forms of the word "heaven" to refer to different places. We call the atmosphere encircling our earth the heavens. The vast area of space made up of planets, stars, solar systems, etc., has been called "the heavenlies." But the scope of heaven - where God dwells and where loved ones of ours who've gone on before us are - is outside of our human imagination.

On the earth there are billions of people including you and me. Have you ever felt insignificant in the midst of all of this? Really, we're hardly more than mere microscopic specks. To think that the Father in Heaven would be interested in us!

It's beyond our comprehension to know how the Lord can hear all of us - perhaps millions of prayers offered up at the same time! The Bible tells us that God, the high and lofty One, is also our Loving Father who intimately knows and loves each of us. His Holy Spirit is infused within us so that throughout our lives, He is always present. Our Father reigns in heaven, but He also reigns in our hearts.

Insight: As We Read Our Bibles And Pray, We Learn More About Our Father Who Loves Us, Cares About Us And Is With Us Forever.

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and

"This, then, is how you should pray." (MATTHEW 6:9)
Scripture Focus: Matthew 6:9-13

Jesus taught His own prayer to His disciples. An example of how we
also should pray, it is a perfect prayer. Often I have repeated its
words without thinking about the power behind them. In the countless
ways that we can come to the Lord in prayer, many people like to
begin with the confession of sins. When I start thinking about my
sins, however, I quickly become distracted. Rather than dwelling on
the Lord, I think all about myself.

Beginning the way Jesus began helps me focus on Him. "Our Father,"
this first phrase emphasizes our relationship with God. He is our
Father, and we are His children, the sons and daughters of the Living
God. Jesus is God's Son, which means He is our brother. We have an
intimate relationship with the almighty God of the universe. Knowing
that ought to encourage us when we are discouraged and show us how
precious we are when we feel worthless. God is always with us when we
feel abandoned, and His love for us abounds even when we feel
unlovable.

Insight: Because of Jesus' sacrifice we are members of God's family,
if we believe Him. Remember to thank Him for that in your prayers.

Abba, an Intimate Name for God

"Abba, Father' he said, 'everything is possible for you." (MARK 14:36)
"Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of His Son into our
hearts, the Spirit who calls out, 'Abba, Father.'" (GALATIANS 4:6)
Scripture Focus: Galatians 4:4-7

We have two children, one son-in-law, one granddaughter. In some
families I would be called Father, Grandfather, or even Sir. But
everyone in our family lovingly calls him Dad. They know how much he
cares for them. When any of them needs him, they know they can depend
on Dad. He is always available to help.

In the Bible, Abba is the informal name for Father. It means the same
as Papa. This was the name Jesus used in His prayer in the Garden of
Gethsemane several hours before He was crucified.

Today's reading reveals the intimate relationship we have with our
heavenly Father. We do not have to plead to an aloof, uncaring God.
He is never too busy or too preoccupied with "running the world" to
notice us and hear us when we pray. Believers have the extraordinary
privilege of a close personal relationship with the Mighty God of the
universe. He welcomes our requests. We can always depend on our Abba,
our Papa.

Insight: As believers we are privileged to have the same personal
relationship with our Heavenly Father, our Abba, as Jesus does.

The Source of Joy

"I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may
have the full measure of my joy within them." (JOHN 17:13) Do not
grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength. (NEHEMIAH 8:10)
Scripture Focus: John 17:6-26

When I broke my back, I learned joy is not something we switch on
like a light. Depression and pain drained me physically, emotionally
and spiritually. But beyond the pain, the Lord's joy made me strong
enough to face that overwhelming situation. I wasn't happy that I
became disabled. But, because God was with me, I knew I would survive
and know joy again.

Most people think joy is brought on by pleasant circumstances. True
joy does not depend on good things happening. If this were so, Jesus
would not have experienced it as He faced the cruelty of His death on
the cross. Jesus said that in this world believers would experience
heart-rending trials, situations that looked impossible to handle. Do
those sound like reasons to be joyful?

His joy implanted deep in us remains in spite of the fiercest storms
and most fiery trials we face. The joy of the Lord is our strength
because He gave up all the joys of heaven so that we might experience
true joy and one day be with Him.

Insight: Joy is one of the gifts the Lord offers us. His true joy
makes us strong. We need to accept his gift today.

Scripture Focus: John 17:6-26

Even though Jesus prayed this prayer thousands of years ago for believers, His prayer is for you and me, also. The heading in my Bible says, "Jesus Prays for Future Believers." In vs. 21 Jesus asks the Father "that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I in you." God desires unity and harmony among all believers. Unity in us proves to the world that God is real.

Jesus reveals God the Father to believers. In His prayer, He commits Himself to continue teaching us about God. This is a life-long process. He also prays that we realize that the Father loves us as much as He loves Jesus. How breathtaking the thought!

We may forget this when we fail, when we are discouraged, when we question God's love for us. When I, broke my back, I said to God, "This doesn't feel like love." But God's love for us is not based on warm, fuzzy feelings. Even when our dreams are destroyed, we need to remember His infinite love for us never fails, and we can rest solidly in that.

The Time Had Come

"After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: 'Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you.'" (JOHN 17:1)
Scripture Focus: John 17:1-5

For about three years Jesus healed the sick and lame, performed miracles, and taught people about God and His Kingdom. His life's actions and words demonstrated to the world what the Father is like. The cross always before Him, He knew he would die for us before the world was even created. He came to save us all by giving His perfect life for our sin-tainted lives. The gospel writers reveal many of Jesus' thoughts as He walked through life with the cross looming in His future. Each time someone tried to kill Him, He said that His time had not come yet. His work was not yet completed.

But in due time the hour had come to complete His mission. Jesus' death is God's provision that enables us to have everlasting life. His time had come to save the world, to free us from the bonds of sin and death. This was the reason He was born; this was the reason He died and came back to life. He suffered our punishment - our hell - when the sins every person in the past, present and future were rolled onto Him.

Scripture Focus: Luke 22:31-34; 54-62

Imagine having Jesus Christ tell you personally, as He told Peter, that He's praying your faith would not fail! All the trials, temptations, and heartaches in our lives would not seem so intimidating. In fact, we do not have to imagine that; Jesus is praying for us.

Peter feared what others thought of him and consequently renounced Jesus three times (vs. 54-62). But God had implanted faith deep in Peter's heart. Peter repented, just as Jesus said he would, and became a great leader of believers, encouraging and strengthening Christians through the ages, even us today.

I've known many people who identify with Peter and have given in to the fear of man. Myself included, we have denied Jesus by our words or actions. Yet we remember that faith in Jesus is infused into our hearts, into every part of us, once we believe in Him. Jesus does not favor one person over another. What He prayed for Peter, He is praying for us right now. This reality has comforted and strengthened me again and again.

Insight: Right now Jesus is praying for you and me, praying that our faith will not fail. He is the source of our faith.

If you have children or grandchildren, work with children at church, or you have neighborhood children whose parents you know, please take note of the information below and pass it along to others. Schools are distributing this book to children through the Scholastic Book Club.

The name of the book is Conversations with God. James Dobson talked about this book twice this week. It is devastating. Parents, churches and Christian schools need to be aware of it. Please pass this information on to church/e-mail addresses, Parents, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, friends.

Two particular books are, Conversations with God and Conversations with God for Teens, written by Neale D. Walsch. They sound harmless enough by their titles alone. The books have been on the New York Times best sellers list for a number of weeks, and they make truth of the statement, "Don't judge a book by its cover or title."

The author purports to answer various questions asked by kids using the "voice of God". However, the "answers" that he gives are not Bible-based and go against the very infallible word of God. For instance (and I paraphrase), when a girl asks the question "Why am I a lesbian?" His answer is that she was 'born that way' because of genetics (just as you were born right-handed, with brown eyes, etc.). Then he tells her to go out and "celebrate" her differences.

Another girl poses the question "I am living with my boyfriend. My parents say that I should marry him because I am living in sin. Should I marry him?" His reply is, "Who are you sinning against? Not me, because you have done nothing wrong."

Another question asks about God's forgiveness of sin. His reply "I do not forgive anyone because there is nothing to forgive... There is no such thing as right or wrong and that is what I have been trying to tell everyone, do not judge people. People have chosen to judge one another and this is wrong, because the rule is "'judge not lest ye be judged."

Not only are these books the false doctrine of the devil, but in some instances quote (in error) the Word of God.

And the list goes on. These books (and others like it) are being sold to school children through (The Scholastic Book Club), and we need to be aware of what is being fed to our children.
Our children are under attack. So I pray that you be sober and vigilant about teaching your children the Word of God, and guarding their exposure to worldly mediums, because our adversary, the devil, roams about as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). We know that lions usually hunt for the slowest, weakest and YOUNGEST of its prey.
Pass this on to every believer you know. God bless! And, if you are in doubt, check out the books yourself.

WOW! This is so well put and very beautiful. Enjoy!

If you never felt pain, then how would you know that I am a Healer?

If you never had to pray, How would you know that I am a Deliverer?

If you never had a trial, how could you call yourself an overcomer?

If you never felt sadness, How would you know that I am a Comforter?

If you never made a mistake, How would you know that I am a forgiver?

If you knew all, How would you know that I will answer your questions?

If you never were in trouble, How would you know that I will come to your rescue

If you never were broken, Then how would you know that I can make you whole?

If you never had a problem,How would you know that I can solve them?

If you never had any suffering, Then how would you know what I went through?

If you never went through the fire, Then how would you become pure?

If I gave you all things, How would you appreciate them?

If I never corrected you, How would you know that I love you?

If you had all power, Then how would you learn to depend on me?

If your life was perfect, Then what would you need me for?

Love,
Jesus

Please forward this mail of Jesus to as many friends as you can. GOD is Great!

God our Father, walk through my house and take away all my worries and illnesses and please watch over and heal my family in Jesus name, Amen.
This prayer is so powerful. Does God come first in your life? If so, stop what you are doing & send it out now. Watch what He does

The Glorifying Life

"I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do. And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began." (JOHN 17:4)
Scripture Focus: John 17:1-5

Jesus fulfilled every prophecy about Him made in the Old Testament of the Bible. Everything Jesus accomplished glorified God His Father. We bring glory to God when we do His will. Though we aren't perfect, the will of God should be the driving force in our lives.

We are not here by accident. God has a plan and a purpose for our lives. Jeremiah 29:11 tells us that He knows the plans He has for us, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." In a world filled with people wandering aimlessly, believers are focused because of their faith in God. His will gives meaning and direction to our lives.

Believers know the answers to difficult questions people ask:

Who am I and where did I come from? Why am I here and where am I going? I am a child created by the loving, living God, made to glorify and enjoy Him, walking each day on the Heavenly Highway that leads me home.

Insight: When we choose to follow God's plans for us, we bring glory to Him. doing His will gives us rewarding, purpose-filled, focused lives.

When I was a kid, I couldn't understand why Eisenhower was so popular. Maybe this will explain why.

It is a matter of history that when the Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces, General Dwight Eisenhower, found the victims of the death camps he ordered all possible photographs to be taken, and for the German people from surrounding villages to be ushered through the camps and even made to bury the dead.

He did this because he said in words to this effect:

'Get it all on record now - get the films - get the witnesses - because somewhere down the road of history some bastard will get up and say that this never happened'

This week, the UK debated whether to remove The Holocaust from its school curriculum because it 'offends' the Muslim population which claims it never occurred. It is not removed as yet.. However, this is a frightening portent of the fear that is gripping the world and how easily each country is giving into it.

It is now more than 60 years after the Second World War in Europe ended.. This e-mail is being sent as a memorial chain, in memory of the, six million Jews, 20 million Russians, 10 million Christians, and 1,900 Catholic priests Who were 'murdered, raped, burned, starved, beaten, experimented on and humiliated' while many in the world looked the other way!

Now, more than ever, with Iran , among others, claiming the Holocaust to be 'a myth,' it is imperative to make sure the world never forgets.

This e-mail is intended to reach 400 million people! Be a link in the memorial chain and help distribute this around the world.

How many years will it be before the attack on the World Trade Center
