Chanting kills faith

Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of
God.

Yesterday again I was at the trade fair where Gideons’ have a stall and it
was great learning while distributing the NT. The various kinds of people
one gets to speak to and the thoughts they carrying due to the various
beliefs they come from speaks volumes. One of the common factors among most
beliefs is the blinds ‘faith’ they have on their scriptures.. The Muslims
for instance think their Quran is ‘THE’ book, even though it speaks of the
Torah, Psalms and Gospel as holy books yet they will not read them for they
believe the Quran sums everything about them within itself, although the
Quran is four/fifth of the NT and one tenth of the whole Bible.

Another common factor is all these (man-made) religions are mindless
chanting of text. The word Quran means to recite and Muslim are not
encouraged to study what their text says or cross analyze one scripture
(ayat or hadith) with another. In Hinduism too, although there is not
restriction yet the people inherent just babble lines without understanding
or analyzing them. They may expound on a word or two but not across various
texts.

Today’s scripture is something that did not go with me some years back for
I knew faith does not come by hearing and hearing the Word of God (chanting
scriptures). People tried to justify by saying when we speak and hear what
we speak it increases faith - that too I knew did not increase faith since
I was from Catholic background where they chanted prayers (i.e. Rosary)
without understanding what is said.

When I inquired with the Lord He made me investigate the two words in the
manuscripts and I found them different. One was in a passive tense and
other in active tense. In English grammar we do not have this feature so
would need to render the active tense of hearing as listening. The
scripture rightly says faith comes by hearing and listening to the Word of
God. It is only when we abide in what we hear the Word speak to us that we
grow in faith, just babbling or reading the Bible will not increase faith.

In the parable of the old widow and the judge we see even though the
persistence of the widow got the judge to listen to her yet Jesus says at
the end ‘nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on
the earth?’.

We can spend hours and hours praying to God for our needs but if we have
faith then our prayers will be short. The most powerful prayer in the Bible
is what Jesus said to do all the great miracles and that is the words
‘Thank You Father’.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are an Awesome and All-knowing God. Language is not a barrier for
You yet You understand only one language and that is the language of faith.
Faith opens doors for the blessings You have already given to manifest in
our lives. Lord we pray we grow in faith and that we do not struggle to
receive or spiritually grow in You...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Luke 18:2-8
2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither
regarded man:
3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying,
Avenge me of mine adversary.
4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself,
Though I fear not God, nor regard man;
5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her
continual coming she weary me.
6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.
7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto
him, though he bear long with them?
8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son
of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

Mark 11:24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye
pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

If not for a few the large would perish

Romans 9: 29 And as Esaias said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth [host]
had left us a seed [small few], we had been as Sodoma, and been made like
unto Gomorrha.

In the world the common factor is to follow the thinking of the masses and
this is also used by the Christian Churches. The Church goes for common
understanding or common interpretation of scriptures.

In today’s message the Lord tells us it is He who does not allow that. What
is interesting is in this verse Paul quoting Isaiah continues to use the
term Lord of Hosts referring to the Lord and His army of Angels. Paul was
trying to state the enforcement of not letting the common understanding to
persist, the Lord uses His army of Angels and Bible calls them as
ministering spirits.

We need to understand we should never settle to an understanding of a
scripture or any matter concerning the Kingdom of God. This may rattle many
minds but when we realize the Word of God is always being revealed more and
more, then how can we say we know the Word.

There were times in my life I thought this is ‘it’, the Lord has revealed
the hidden and there is no more and this changed in a few days when the
Lord revealed more to what I thought was ‘it’. So today’s understanding
will be tomorrow’s bottom layer for God will add to our understanding this
the Lord says, He does via a few and not via the masses.

Today’s message says if we do not be open to God’s expounding of His
Kingdom on a daily basis then we will get into spiritual fornication and
become spiritual Sodom and Gomorrha, in other words making ourselves (each
other) gods. This we see is true in present Church for people rely more on
teaching of famous people than what the Bible says. They will say do not
misinterpret, go as per what has been revealed years back.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God and Lord of Hosts. Bible says your Angels are ministering
spirits. Bible gives example how your Angels ministered to people including
Jesus as man, and your Word also says how the Holy Spirit reveals more and
more of the Word which even the Angel learn of. Lord we pray we grow
spiritually in knowledge and understanding as we grow in other Fruits. We
pray we do not be stiff-necked and land up making ourselves gods...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Matthew 11:25 At that season Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O
Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou didst hide these things from
the wise and understanding, and didst reveal them unto babes:

Matthew 11:27 All things have been delivered unto me of my Father: and no
one knoweth the Son, save the Father; neither doth any know the Father,
save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son willeth to reveal him

Philippians 3:15 Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, be thus minded:
and if in anything ye are otherwise minded, this also shall God reveal unto
you:

John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he shall guide
you into all the truth: for he shall not speak from himself; but what
things so ever he shall hear, these shall he speak: and he shall declare
unto you the things that are to come.

Mark 1:13 And he was in the wilderness forty days tempted of Satan; And he
was with the wild beasts; And the angels ministered unto him.

1 Peter 1:12 To whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto
you, did they minister these things, which now have been announced unto you
through them that preached the gospel unto you by the Holy Spirit sent
forth from heaven; which things angels desire to look into.

Fulfilling the promises to Gentiles through Christ

2 Thessalonians 2: 13,14 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for
you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning
chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of
the truth: Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the
glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We need to read today’s message along with Romans 15:8-9 to understand it
better. Today’s message says we were chosen. The term chosen means we had
received a promise and Romans 5:8-9 says the promise was to the Gentiles
that they receive His salvation and glorified Him.

We confuse between Gentile and Heathens, although both speak of people who
do not know God. The word ‘Israel’ means ‘Princes of God’ and symbolizes
Sons of God. The word ‘Gentile’ means ‘multitude’ and comes from the root
word ‘used to’ meaning a large crowd that practiced something different.
The term Gentiles was used to people of Israelite origin but followed other
religions or forsook the truth. So Gentiles referred to chosen people who
were lost in other words refers to Lost Sheep. The word ‘Hebrew’ meant ‘one
from beyond’ and did not refer to people beyond a location; it symbolically
meant people not of this world but having the promise of Heaven. The term
was first used with Abraham. Heathens on the other hand were people who
were not chosen or to whom the promise was not given. The word meant
‘nations’ but was specifically used to non-Hebrew people.

God loves everyone but salvation is only for those who believe in the Word
that manifested in the flesh - Jesus Christ since it was through Him that
the promises are fulfilled. We the Children of God are all Gentiles called
to be Israel and to glorify God for His mercy.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Merciful God. Even though we rejected You and your Kingdom by
sinning yet You Lord in your mercy through your Son reconcile us back unto
your Kingdom through the message of hope in Him. Lord we thank You for your
abundant mercy...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Christ, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Romans 15:8-9
8 For I say that Christ hath been made a minister of the circumcision for
the truth of God, that he might confirm the promises given unto the fathers,
9 and that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy; as it is written,
Therefore will I give praise unto thee among the Gentiles, And sing unto
thy name.

Genesis 14:13 And there came one that had escaped, and told Abram the
Hebrew; for he dwelt in the plain of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol,
and brother of Aner: and these were confederate with Abram.

Leviticus 26:38 And ye shall perish among the heathen, and the land of
your enemies shall eat you up.

Leviticus 26:45 But I will for their sakes remember the covenant of their
ancestors, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the sight of
the heathen, that I might be their God: I am the LORD.

Keep on our guard always

Acts 21: 26 Then Paul took the men, and the next day purifying himself
with them entered into the temple, to signify the accomplishment of the
days of purification, until that an offering should be offered for every
one of them.

In the OT we see God gave both statutes and commandments. Commandments
which if broken are considered as sin but breaking statutes is not
considered as sin. God did not give them something that was without purpose
so we need to understand statutes since they were not like commandments but
yet had their importance.

In Hebrew the word ‘mitzvah’ translated as commandment comes from the root
word meaning to cast, to teach; while the word ‘choq’ used for statutes
comes from the root word which means to cut in, to inscribe.

Commandments have a both personal and more important a social importance so
to be part of the body of Christ keeping the commandments are necessary.
Statutes on the other hand have only personal importance they were given
for personal understanding of things hidden. God had instructed the
Israelites to do things like washing of hands and feet, or celebrate the
feasts among other things as statutes, even though most of them had social
or external outlook but their purpose were personal.

In today’s message we see Paul got involved in a statute of purification
which the Jews followed. A person like Paul who was spiritually mature and
had good knowledge of the Kingdom of God due to emotional reasons got
involved in a purification ritual which was a statute for a person ending
the oath of a Nazarite.

The word Nazarite meant ‘devoted one’ or ‘concentrate one’ and demanded the
person taken the oath to separate themselves from the opposite sex that
means not have any physical relationship with the other sex. The person was
not allowed to cut his or her hair, not intake neither strong drinks (wine)
nor even vinegar (cheap wine), so much so its source that is grapes were
forbidden (both dried and moist); he or she was also not allowed to
consume anything made of the grape vine tree, from the kernels even to the
husk. The Nazarite was required to not cut his or her hair, so much so as
to not let the razor touch his or her body. The person was also not allowed
to touch any dead body. If the person broke any of these then the person
had to exit it with a process called purification process which involved
offering some animal sacrifices and washing at the temple doorstep by a
priest.

Paul who knew neither salvation nor things of the Kingdom of God were
attainable by rituals or animal sacrifices and these statutes were for
symbolic understanding still got himself involved and got thereafter caught
by the authorities.

Bible is not a good book with only good things to be blindly followed but a
book of truth which discloses both the good and faults of man so a person
needs to be discerned man, be it Paul or Abraham or David. Today’s message
also tells us even though we may be very knowledgeable of the Kingdom of
God yet we need to always keep guard and discern even the smallest of
things.

[Prayer Starter]
Father God You are Holy God. Bible says You separated yourself from the
beginning and none other than the Son has seen You. Your Son humbled
Himself from the beginning and became man so as to make way for us to be
reconciled unto You. You God are spirit and instruct us to be led by the
spirit by overcoming the flesh. Even though we have no completely overcome
evil yet You ask us to be holy by pursuing holiness. Lord we pray we always
be alert and not let down our spiritual guard but discern all things at all
times...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Acts 21:27-31
27 And when the seven days were almost ended, the Jews which were of Asia,
when they saw him in the temple, stirred up all the people, and laid hands
on him,
28 Crying out, Men of Israel, help: This is the man, that teacheth all men
every where against the people, and the law, and this place: and further
brought Greeks also into the temple, and hath polluted this holy place.
29 (For they had seen before with him in the city Trophimus an Ephesian,
whom they supposed that Paul had brought into the temple.)
30 And all the city was moved, and the people ran together: and they took
Paul, and drew him out of the temple: and forthwith the doors were shut.
31 And as they went about to kill him, tidings came unto the chief captain
of the band, that all Jerusalem was in an uproar.

People of Berea missing in Churches

Ephesians 3: 19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge,
that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

Now a days to give a good preaching, preachers try to explain the Greek and
Hebrew words used in the Bible, but what is amusing is they quote others
who have no knowledge of the languages. Just yesterday a young dynamic
preacher was (mis)quoting words in his preaching just to impress the
audience and got away with it. People dare to do this and get away with it
because preachers know rarely will you find someone actually cross checking
and verifying what they preach with scriptures or references.

Zakir Naik a Muslim Dawah who is very known world over, having his own TV
channels and now on the run, was once investigated for what he spoke and in
his 5mins speech a person found 25 mistakes (misquotes). Now if the same is
done with our preachers, people will blush.

Today’s message talks of love of Christ. In church we find preachers
preaching about Agape love – the God kind love. When questioned about Agapo
another Greek word translated also as love preachers say it is human love.
Taking this understanding a Muslim Dawah stated Jesus was a homosexual
because He used the word agapo directly towards His disciples and then we
saw the coming of the movie Jesus the Superstar. Can we blame the
unbelievers for this?

The word Agapo means ‘I love’ and is the conjugation of the root word Agape
which means love.

When the word love is taken people confuse it with affection, attraction,
romance or obsession. Man did not know the meaning of love until Christ
came and manifested His love. This love was not just exhibited on the
crucifix but from the foundation of creation, so to know the love of Christ
we need to know Him and how He loved us from the foundation of creation.

In some translations Agape is more appropriately translated as charity and
not love since charity is something a donor does to edify, without
expecting anything in return from the recipient.

Let us love like Christ did and let us not always use our selfish and
self-centric nature even when we love people.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Almighty God yet You God love this minuscule creature called
man. You love man so much that You gave yourself as a sacrifice for man.
Lord may we learn to love like You and to know You through your love...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Acts 17:10-12
10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto
Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.
11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received
the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily,
whether those things were so.
12 Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were
Greeks, and of men, not a few.

Romans 13:8-10
8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth
another hath fulfilled the law.
9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou
shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet;
and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this
saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling
of the law.

Washed, Sanctified and Justified in His Name by His Spirit

1 Corinthians 6: 11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye
are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by
the Spirit of our God.

People generally use the term ‘washed by the blood of Jesus’ and equate it
to a person who is dirty getting washed cleaned by blood instead of water.
Like I stated time and again the Hebrew and Greek word meanings and its
root words are of utmost importance to understand the scripture.

The Greek word ‘louo’ (and its variations in Revelation 1:5, Acts 16:33, 1
Corinthians 6:11, Hebrews 10:22...) translated here as washed does not
refer to regular washing but very specific to washing a wound or a dead
body. It requires the thing to be dead / bruised to be washed. That means
our sin needs to be dead / confronted to be washed. In other words if I
need to be forgiven to a sin like robbing I need to stop robbing, overcome
it or at least battle it so as to receive forgiveness for it. I cannot ask
God to forgive my past robberies while I still continue robbing. The
scripture says this dying to the sin is not done with one’s own efforts but
with the help of the Holy Spirit. As we battle and overcome through the
working of the Holy Spirit we are made more in the Nature (Name) of Jesus.

Jesus as Son of Man paid the penalty for our sins but we still need to
overcome our sin nature to become one with Him in Heaven. Through today’s
message the Lord is telling us if we are battling any sin nature we need to
ask the help of the Holy Spirit to die to that sin nature and to be made
anew more and more like Christ.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are a Righteous God. You are Holy and Truth thus You never change.
Lord we pray we understand the importance to overcome and You have
encouraged us by the fact You overcame as Son of Man. Lord we pray we
depend on your Spirit who helps us in our battle against sin...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Revelation 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the
first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto
him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

Acts 16:33 And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their
stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.

1 Corinthians 6:11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye
are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by
the Spirit of our God.

Hebrews 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of
faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies
washed with pure water.

John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have
peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have
overcome the world.

2 Peter 2:19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the
servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he
brought in bondage.

2 Peter 2:20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world
through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again
entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the
beginning.

Revelation 3:21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my
throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his
throne.

How much of fitness is needed?

1 Timothy 4:8,9 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is
profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of
that which is to come. This is a faithful saying and worthy of all
acceptation.

We see many preachers hitting the gym to keep fit, but then the gym takes a
large part and most important part of the day (early morning which is the
best time to spend with God). From just fitness they tend to go into
something like bodybuilding and get obsessed with their bodies looking at
it and admiring it at any given opportunity.

Paul in his letter to Timothy does not write off physical fitness, he does
not say do not do it, but says it profits little. On the other hand Paul
says being dutiful towards God (Godliness) profits much. This he does not
say is a law or something God has said but says this is an experienced fact
that is generally acceptable.

Be it a woman who is obsessed with her beauty or a man with his physical
body, the difference is not much. We are not called to look ugly or be
unhealthy but we should know natural beauty or physical fitness is a small
part of life and low on our priority list. What I have experienced and seen
a spiritually mature person will automatically be naturally fit and will
radiate a hidden beauty.

Paul says we live not for this life and should be ready to exit it any time
for we are people of the life after (this natural life). Whatever beauty or
body we build here will perish in the dust, nothing of that will we taken
with us. If we look beautiful in the body it will not affect the look of
our spirit person in Heaven. The beauty of the spirit person is the soul.
The soul is like the flesh of the spirit man in Heaven, so a beautiful soul
would mean a beautiful person in Heaven.

We as Christians are called not to spend too much time and efforts with
regards our natural look including our clothes, makeup, hairstyle, our
physical bodies etc. but also we are not called to ignore it completely. We
represent Christ on earth so we should know our priorities well, balancing
every aspect well.

Paul says let us work more on our inner-man and thus make our soul
beautiful. This beauty will not only benefit us in Heaven but to a large
extent even here on earth, for it will shine the light of Christ on earth
and bring people closer to Him.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Spirit and your Kingdom is a spirit Kingdom. All that is
natural will perish and will be no more. Lord we pray even we live in this
body of flesh we pray we do not be servants of this flesh but spend more
time and energy on our spirit man which we carry forward into eternity...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
John 12:25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his
life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

Matthew 6:30-33
30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is,
and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O
ye of little faith?
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we
drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly
Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all
these things shall be added unto you.

2 Timothy 3:1-5
1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud,
blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent,
fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such
turn away.

The Great Deception

2 Thessalonians 2:3,4 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day
shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin
be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above
all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in
the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

We have heard N number of times preachers saying the END IS NEAR, and by
this fear they get people to attend their sessions. This fear is also used
to distract Christians from focusing on saving other souls to saving their
own an in bargain they lose their own soul since Bible says only those who
do the Will of the Father will enter the Kingdom of God and Jesus said the
Will of the Father is to bring back the lost sheep.

In today’s message we see Paul says do not get deceived by people who say
the end is at hand unless 2 things happen. First is the falling of faith
and second the son of perdition is revealed.

Falling of faith, Paul explains in his first letter to the church of
Thessalonica as a time when there is peace and safety everywhere.

People are time and again told the end will come when there is great
destructions and turmoil all over the world which is contrary to what Paul
says. They misquote Jesus in Matthew 24. If we read Matthew 24 Jesus says
‘the DAY AND HOUR (exact day) is not known to anyone other than God’ even
though the Feast of Trumpets (which fall in Oct) is connected to His coming
again. But He still says the end will be like the days of Noah, referring
to Noah making his Ark and the coming of the flood. Although it took Noah
100years to make the Ark, Noah not once doubted the flood would come until
he finished his Ark. We need to understand this from what Jesus said
earlier in that chapter the end will not come unless the Good News is
spread across nations (world). Jesus was talking not of the physical world
but all those who exist and also those yet to come, whose names are
recorded in the Book of Life, unless we finish gathering them the end will
not come.

The second is the end will come when a man says he is ‘Christ’ and asks
people to worship him. Here we see Paul does not say that, Paul says this
‘son of perdition’ will claim he is god and above God and will cause all
mankind to worship him. We need to note this man does not deny God but says
he is above God who exists.

If we really understand all scriptures that connect to the end times we
will realize it will happen only after all of the World accepts Christ as
their Savior and after they accept Christ they start disbelieving
scriptures and then lose their faith.

Right now in India it is still about 4 am and I was woken up by the Lord
since 3am to write this message. I am to attend a meeting early morning and
was thinking of skipping today’s message but the Lord did not want me to
miss writing this important message today and sending it out. I do not know
why today and to whom all it will touch. But one thing I know is this
message is out to do its job, which is to break the great deception amongst
many.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are All Knowing God. It is only through your Word that your plans
are revealed. Jesus as man studied through your Word and knew things as
your Word and Spirit revealed to Him. Lord even though the exact day is not
revealed in your Word yet the season and signs connected to that day is
given so that we remain watchful and know it’s coming. Lord we pray we do
not lose focus of the purpose that is to do your Will as the end is not at
hand...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
1 Thessalonians 5:1-6
1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write
unto you.
2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a
thief in the night.
3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction
cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not
escape.
4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you
as a thief.
5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are
not of the night, nor of darkness.
6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

Matthew 24:29-31, 36-39
29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be
darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall
from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then
shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man
coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they
shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven
to the other.
36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven,
but my Father only.
37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man
be.
38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and
drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered
into the ark,
39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall
also the coming of the Son of man be.

Matthew 24:13-15
13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a
witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by
Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him
understand:)

Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter
into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which
is in heaven.

Matthew 12:50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in
heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

Matthew 18:14 Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in
heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.

John 6:39 And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all
which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again
at the last day.

Seeking glory, honor, immortality and eternal life

Romans 2: 7,8 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for
glory and honour and immortality [incorruption], eternal life: But unto
them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey
unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,

Today again the Lord wants to expound more on our entry to Heaven. Like
always I have emphasized on word study to understand scriptures, so to
understand today’s message let us go into the important words.

Glory - the Greek word doxa is described as splendor, brightness, more
towards the brightness of the sun - directing to the source. Since we have
only one sun thus glory only belongs to one person and that is God, it is
for this reason we cannot glorify any other being. Giving praise and
glorifying is different, praising means speaking good of a person or
acknowledging the person for having goodness, while glorifying a person
means the person is the source of that goodness.

Honor - the Greek word time (tee-may) is described as value or worthiness.
As sinners we are people of vanity and when we receive God’s Spirit He
brings worthiness in us by making us into Sons of God.

Immortality - the Greek word aphtharsia means incorruption. Those who have
the image of God are called Sons of God. We were made Sons of God but lost
the sonship because the image got corrupted. The Spirit of God restores the
image in us and makes us Sons of God again. Jesus Christ - God the Son who
humbled Himself and became Son of Man was without corruption thus called
Son of God. As man He did not let Himself get corrupted thus overcame and
showed us how to.

Eternal life - the Greek word aionios translated as eternal does not talk
only of without end but also speaks of without beginning. We know only God
and His Son have life without beginning and without end so for us to have
the eternal life we need to become one with either the Father or the Son.
Bible says we will be wedded to the Son, this wedding does not mean like
earthly wedding but means becoming one, John 10:34-35 can be understood by
this.

We need to understand all these are received only when the truth is in us
and for the truth to grow in us we need to do good works (not works of
righteousness but works of faith).

I can picturise this as the Holy Spirit being the potter and we the clay
that is on the wheel. The potter can bring shape to the clay only if the
wheel is turning. Our good works keeps the wheel turning and thus lets the
Spirit of God bring us to the truth.

People ask me why I get so much of revelation and the reason is not just my
calling as a Teacher but also the reason I keep my wheel turning every day.

Let us not take our salvation for granted but like Paul says work it with
fear and trembling, he meant we diligently keep our wheels turning and be
sensitive to the Spirit of God and the Word of God.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You alone are perfect and there is none other than You and You Lord
want us to be perfect like You. You knew Lord it was impossible for us thus
gave us your Spirit who works in us and restores your image in us. We pray
Lord we understand the importance of doing the works of faith that is
winning souls for your Kingdom by ministering and disciplining people in
You...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
John 10:34,35
34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, ye are gods?
35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came (and the
scripture cannot be broken),

Philippians 2:12 So then, my beloved, even as ye have always obeyed, not
as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own
salvation with fear and trembling;

John 15:26-27
26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the
Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he
shall bear witness of me:
27 and ye also bear witness, because ye have been with me from the
beginning.

Revelation 21:22-24
22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God the Almighty, and the
Lamb, are the temple thereof.
23 And the city hath no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine
upon it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the lamp thereof is the
Lamb.
24 And the nations shall walk amidst the light thereof: and the kings of
the earth bring their glory into it.

Fear of death

John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be
born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

We must have read about Nicodemus many a times. When the Lord gave me this
verse I was wondering what new the Lord wanted us to know but as I read I
saw things which I never saw before.

Nicodemus was a Pharisee a teacher of the Law, a knowledgeable person.
Secondly he was an old man. Thirdly we see he seeks to talk to Jesus late
in the night. It was like a very sick man seeking a doctor in an emergency.
What is most important to note is that Jesus aware of the emergency,
without asking him as to why he came or what he wanted to know, Jesus gives
him the answer to his question and repeats it.

If we picturise this incident we will see an old man Nicodemus worried if
he dies what would happen to him, if he would go to Heaven. Nicodemus in
the middle of the night find it an emergency to disturb Jesus and confirm
the matter. We see the ending is not so good for Jesus ends His
conversation with him by saying those who do evil fear death (fear to face
God) but those who do good do not.

We all know there are 2 deaths in the life of an unsaved person one is the
natural death and the other when the spirit perishes. I did not use the
word death for the second death since that death is not like our natural
death but a terrible experience since the being does not cease to exist
immediately like in natural death, it is like a slow death.

We do not fear evil or God because we do not know about life after our
natural death. It is when we face death like Nicodemus that we wake our
conscience and start to audit our life. Jesus said only those who have done
evil fear death not those who do good since all who know God know they will
be judged.

If we read Hosea 13:14 it talks of two things, first of paying the ransom
of releasing from sheol (translated here as grave but actually refers to
Hell / pit). By His death and resurrection Christ paid the price of our
bail from Hell, so all those who believe in Him do not go to Hell. Hell
being a place we suffer our sins, that is why Bible says we are forgiven of
our sins. But yet death is not written off for we see in the second part it
says ‘I will redeem them from death’.

Jesus said those who will pass the Judgment Day are only those who are born
of repentance (water) and led by the Holy Spirit (born anew in Spirit -
become Sons of God). The second part is not about becoming a good person
but about being transformed in the spirit and this happens when we
resurrect.

The word ‘resurrect’ simply means to rise. We are spirit beings our natural
death is not really a death but just an exit from our natural bodies and
ceasing of our ability to change. Bible says unless we do not overcome we
will not be spared from the second death. We need to rise over our worldly,
carnal nature and then only we will not see spiritual death which is truly
a death or perishing of a soul.

Today we celebrate Resurrection Sunday which is a confirmation that we will
not go to Hell but let us not be fooled to believe we still do not face the
fear of death. Jesus would not have given us His Spirit to work in us after
His resurrection if the matter was settled there and then.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Holy God. Nothing that is corrupt can dwell before You. When
man got corrupted by sin You moved him out of your presence so that he does
not perish. You paid the price that he does not go to Hell and he receives
your Spirit so that by the working of the Spirit the corruption be removed
and he be made whole. Lord we know one day man will become whole and shine
in your glory. We pray we be amongst those who are not deceived but by
knowing the truth, be those who overcome...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
John 3:1-7

Hosea 13:14 I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem
them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy
destruction: repentance shall be hid from mine eyes.

Revelation 2:11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith
unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death..

Revelation 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first
resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be
priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

Revelation 2:7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith
unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of
life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that
I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but
if I depart, I will send him unto you.

Happy Resurrection Day to you and all your family members...

Laboring a vain labor

Galatians 4:11 I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in
vain.

A few days back we had received this verse and we saw about sheep and
goats, although both are part of the Lord’s flock, meaning both believe in
Christ yet only the sheep (who abide in the Father’s Will) will enter the
Kingdom of God (go to Heaven). This is indeed a hard teaching, which even
the Jews whom Jesus narrated to (Luke 4:25-30) caused them to be filled
with rage such that they took Jesus to the edge of a cliff to throw Him off
it (murder Him), but then Jesus slips through them and escapes.

If we look at the other side, towards the part of the one who is
ministering unto them here too we see a hard teaching. Paul explains this
well in his first letter to the church of Corinth.

We as Pastors (those who minister unto others) can build people on various
types of foundations. Paul classifies them into 6 categories gold, silver,
precious stones, wood, hay and stubble. Going in the reverse order:

Stubble is the waste of corns – symbolizes useless teachings / worldly
teachings

Hay – symbolizing soft teachings which please people and do not demand
change

Wood – symbolizes fleshy or carnal teachings which please the senses

Precious stones – symbolizes fruits of the spirit but here put in a
negative manner thus symbolizes worldly values, like concentrating on
social work / works of righteousness (human)

Silver – symbolizes spiritual riches but these are not heavenly but more
earthly, like gifts of the spirit which are meant for building heavenly
riches. They are good since silver vessels were considered holy on earth
but in Heaven we see no mention of silver. Building people in gifts of the
Holy Spirit like prophecy, healing, deliverance, praying in tongues etc.
are good but they need to be used to spirit build gold.

Gold – symbolizes truly precious spiritual riches

What we take to Heaven is only gold and the twelve precious stones (of
which Heaven is made of - they symbolize the twelve Fruits of the Spirit /
twelve tribes of Israel) of which 3 are gifts (Truth, Righteousness and
Holiness). We can build people on gold but only the Holy Spirit can build
them on the 10 precious stones (9 mentioned in Galatians 5:22-23 and Truth
which is a gift from the Spirit of the Son).

Let us get it into us just preaching to people and collecting them in a
Church will not get us any reward, we ourselves will be saved but they may
not be. We need to know what kind of foundation we are building them on. We
will gain a reward in Heaven only if they are built them on a precious
spiritual foundation that is of gold, all other foundations will be a waste..

[Prayer Starter]
Lord, You are Spirit and Heaven is a Spirit place. The Heavens are made of
spiritual gold, pearls and 12 precious stones which are the Fruits of the
Spirit. We pray Lord we do not be deceived to think we are doing a good job
here on earth if we are not building people on a spiritual foundation of
gold...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Luke 4:25-30
25 But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of
Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great
famine was throughout all the land;
26 But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of
Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow.
27 And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and
none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian.
28 And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were
filled with wrath,
29 And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow
of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down
headlong.
30 But he passing through the midst of them went his way,

1 Corinthians 3:10-15
10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise
masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon.
But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus
Christ.
12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious
stones, wood, hay, stubble;
13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it,
because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s
work of what sort it is.
14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive
a reward.
15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself
shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

Galatians 5:22-23
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering,
gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Distancing from a brother

2 Thessalonians 3:6 Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord
Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh
disorderly [out of rank], and not after the tradition [guidance] which he
received of us.

In yesterday’s message we saw people who Pastor / Minister unto others may
blunder in bringing up souls not on a foundation of gold but on the other 5
which Paul stated. We also saw a few days back the fault may not
necessarily be in the Pastor / Minister but in the person, for he or she
may by heart be a goat and not a sheep. Both these topics were concerning
relationships between shepherds [Pastors] and the flock. In today message
the Lord is pointing to a relationship between shepherds.

Today’s message is not talking of believers or those who just believe in
the Lord Jesus Christ. It speaks of those who are mature and work in His
vineyard. It says when a brother / sister in the Lord walketh disorderly or
not after the guidance as per the teachings of the Apostles / Christ (since
they too reflected the teachings of Christ) then we are called to distance
ourselves from the brother or sister.

Firstly understand today’s instruction does not speak of persons who make
mistakes / sin for there is no person today who does not err, even at the
top position; all err. But then one cannot continue be a minister of the
Lord and continue to live an ungodly life. How do we decide how is too much
that we need to take action? Today’s verse clearly defines the limits. It
says when a brother walks out of rank and not according Biblical teachings.

When a troop is marching there will be people who will not march on the
same beat, or err in the extent of lifting hands or feet, etc. these things
are not to taken as worthy for this action and may not be noticed by lay
persons other than those who know marching. What it speaks of is when the
solider leaves the ranks / line and does things contrary to Biblical
teachings, that means even a common man starts to notice the mistakes.

We need to remember the Lord is possessive of His Name and people who bring
down His Name beyond a limit will experience His wrath. What we do by
distancing ourselves from the brethren is try to bring him/her back into
the rank and if he/she still does not repent then we isolate ourselves from
the wrath of God that will fall on that person. When we say wrath of God it
does not necessary mean God Himself will punish the person, what happens is
God takes away His hand of protection over that person’s life and he/she
experiences tormenting of the flesh and spirit. Distancing does not
necessary mean total disconnection. Distancing can be done in stages and
even at the extreme end also does not mean total disconnection; there too
we need to wait in hope of the person turning back.

Paul shows by example when he said he handed over some brethren to Satan.
Paul had no understanding or deal with Satan so as to hand over people to
him. It simply meant Paul being family to the persons had extended the hand
of protection which was on his life onto the lives of those people. By
distancing himself Paul let them see the tormenting of the flesh so that
they may repent and turn back. Even in the distancing Paul was watchful of
them.

We are called to bring sinners to Christ and we know even the worst do turn
to the Lord. So we need to have hope and pray for them even when we
distance ourselves from them.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Merciful God. Even though You are Holy, Righteous and Truth,
yet You Lord show mercy without compromise. You Lord seek change to people
and your mercy helps those who try. Lord may we also project your nature
and lift your Name high. Even when correcting a brother let us not fail in
lifting your Name up...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
1 Corinthians 5:1-5
1 It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such
fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should
have his father’s wife.
2 And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath
done this deed might be taken away from among you.
3 For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged
already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this
deed,
4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and
my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,
5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that
the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

1 Timothy 1:20 Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered
unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.

Trinity and Godhead

1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the
Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

The word ‘Trinity’ does not exist in the Bible but exists in the Quran.
Mohammed looking at the beliefs and traditions of the Catholics assumed
Trinity means Father (God), Mary and Jesus, this assumption was one amongst
other elements to bring the birth of Islam. If we see history Christianity
was spreading rapidly among the Arabs but sadly it was Catholicism and not
Christianity. Mohammed’s first wife Khadijah or her sister was a Catholic
nun (not confirmed) but what is established is that her uncle who
commissioned Mohammed as a prophet after his encounter with a spirit in the
cave was a Catholic heretic. Mohammed hated people worshipping Mary (the
Pope at that time had issued orders to put to death any Christian not
worshiping Mary) and this led him to make Islam a concoction of Judaism,
Christianity and Sabian religion. He took Allah the god from Sabian
religion (Hubal - the moon god, the prime god amongst the 360 idols in the
Kaaba) and pictured him to look like the God of the Christians and Jews.

The word Trinity comes from Latin ‘Trinitas’ which comes from the word
‘trinus’ which means "threefold". The word Trinity actually goes against
scriptures stating 3 different entities and does not speak about their
oneness although theologians in their definition of Trinity try to do so.
The Bible on the other hand states the existence of the 3 persons Father,
Son and Spirit but states clearly they are one, only one God. How they are
one is not simply or clearly mentioned and needs to be derived from the
understanding of scriptures.

When Trinity is propagated today’s scripture is quoted but people who do
not know that today’s scripture is one of 2 scriptures which were added
nearly 1000years later to the Bible (new translations have thus eliminated
it). The whole paragraph of Jesus saving the woman from being stoned and
today’s verse did not exist in the Bible until 1000 AD. It was the strong
beliefs of the Catholic Church that pushed these amendments into scriptures..

The Bible uses the term Godhead which is Greek is more an adjective,
referring to God’s divine nature. The relationship between the Father, Son
and His Spirit is not simple and far from that which is given by
theologians to describe Trinity (three beings - one nature) i.e. people
think Yahweh refers to the Father but do not understand the abbreviation
YHWH is a Hebrew ideogram which means ‘Behold the Hand behold the Nail’.

My thirst for this understanding Godhead led to years of scripture study
and today I may not know everything about God but then I do have the basic
clear understanding of the relationship between the Father, Son and His
Spirit, how the three are one and yet different.

Let us take caution to the ideology the world wants to induce into us and
lead us away from knowing God and knowing the Truth.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God and You alone are God. Father God your Word says You are
Holy God and no one has seen You other than the Son who came from You. Lord
we pray now that we dwell in the time of abundance grace You open the
hearts and minds of people to know You and come closer to the Truth...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Acts 17:29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to
think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by
art and man’s device.

Romans 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world
are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his
eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

Colossians 2:8-9
8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after
the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after
Christ.
9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

Romans 3:30 Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by
faith, and uncircumcision through faith.

John 1: 18 No man [being] hath seen God at any time; the only begotten
Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

John 8:42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me:
for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he
sent me.

John 10:30 I and my Father are one.

John 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from
the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he
shall testify of me:

Galatians 4:6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of
his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

Flesh and Spirit

Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that
the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of
Christ, he is none of his.

The one revelation from God that really shook my life and changed
(expanded) a lot of my understanding was learning more on spirit. The
understanding may seem simple but when it sets deep into every scripture of
the Bible, there is no way a person can resist change.

In our previous message the Lord spoke to us about Trinity / Godhead. Among
the three entities is the Holy Spirit whom we hardly understand. I have
seen people project Him as a dove or a cloud without understanding biblical
symbolisms. In the Bible the Spirit of God is God and holds the most
important position in the salvation of mankind. God the Son, who came from
the Father humbled Himself and became man Jesus to pay the price and did it
primarily that we receive His Spirit and are restored to the Father. Even
though Holy Spirit is one yet Bible speaks of 7 Spirits of God and thus
symbolized by the candle-stand in the Tabernacle and Rainbow- a
confirmation to the covenant between God and man (Noah).

The Hebrew word used for spirit of man and spirit of God is the same and
simply means breathe. The word breathe is symbolic and refers to life. Life
is not an ability or an activity but is an entity in itself. When a human
dies we state ‘life left the body’ and do not realize the depth of that
sentence.

If we ask a non-medical person to describe man they will describe as one
entity but a medical person knows there are more foreign living things
dwelling inside man than one can imagine and without them man cannot
survive. Man is like a forest full of wild life that supports the host and
vice-versa.

We humans like the Angels are simplex being (having one life) even though
their life is of a higher level than man but Bible shows the existence of
complex beings like Cherubs which have thousands of lives in one being.
When it comes to God’s life, He is infinite and also His Sprit is unlike
the spirits created by Him. His Spirit has eternal life within Himself and
this ability He has given only to His Son since the Son came from within
Him. Unlike God we all will have the ability to live eternally via the Tree
/ River of Life which exist in Heaven. It does not mean if we eat/drink
once we will live forever, but means when we need to renew our lives we
will eat of it, thus to live eternally we need to dwell in Heaven and have
continual access to it.

Today’s verse talks of the Spirit of Christ - the Holy Spirit dwelling in
us. God’s Spirit dwelling in us should not be seen like how evil spirits
possess a person by physically dwelling in that body. God is omnipresent so
there is no place He is not present or a place we can hide from Him. When
we say God’s Spirit is in us it means our spirit / life is influenced or
led by His Spirit / Life. It also means we cannot live a life contrary to
God’s ways and still claim God’s Spirit dwells in us. His presence is
correlated to His glory, more His presence more His glory and vice-versa.

Christ as man was the physical manifestation of the nature of God. Today’s
message indirectly says if we do not live a life Christ like then we are
not of God.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are a Holy God and in your Word You command of your people to be
holy. Lord we pray we understand cannot be Christians by confession but
only by action. If we have Christ (Spirit of Christ) in us we need to
project it unto others. We pray we introspect our lives...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Luke 10:25-28
25 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying,
Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
26 He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?
27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy
heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy
mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
28 And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt
live.

Mark 10:29-30
29 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man
that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or
wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s,
30 But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and
brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with
persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.

John 5:26-29
26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to
have life in himself;
27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is
the Son of man.
28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are
in the graves shall hear his voice,
29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection
of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

Revelation 2:7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith
unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of
life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

Revelation 22:2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of
the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits,
and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the
healing of the nations.

Revelation 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may
have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the
city.

Can we change the Word the God

Acts 13: 41 Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a
work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man
declare it unto you.

In today’s message we see Paul misquotes Habakkuk 1:5, not repeating word
to word of his verse.

In Islam the name of their holy book is Quran and means to recite. A Muslim
is called to recite his scriptures word to word without changing an
alphabet. Even after this we find many variations in the Quran so much so
in 653AD Caliph Utham ibn Affan who headed the Caliphate deceived all to
surrender the copies of their manuscripts promising to return, instead
destroyed all but kept one and that was considered the original. This Quran
was duplicated into 4 further copies by 4 different persons and were
distributed across to different regions (all these original 4 copies were
lost). Utham’s copy was further copied by 7 persons. Even though 6 of these
original are lost we know of them because we see their copies have
variations in their text even though it is considered blasphemy for a
Muslim to change even an alphabet of the Quran and this crime would be
punishable with death. It was the large gaps in time and the few copies
that did allow them to notice these variations

If we go to Hinduism we see the Vedic scriptures also are unreliable and
have many variations since they too were memorized and written from memory.
Here too the large gaps between copies and very few copies caused many
errors and also allowed many additions according to the period of text.

In Christianity we too do not have any original manuscript but like them
have copies, even though from the beginning God compelled the Men of God to
write down every word spoken to them, preserve it and pass to the
generations.

Coming to the Old Testament we have variations although they were not
written from memory but copied word to word because we had at least three
major changes in the style of copying the text. But the fact the way of
copying them was structured and documented it lets us understand the copies
better. Also the fact we have many copies to verify the differences in the
styles we are assured on what the original text was. In 1947 when we found
almost full copies of OT in caves on the banks of the Dead Sea. These 700BC
text confirmed the OT we hold today was the same.

Even concerning the New Testament we see although we have very large
variations in copies according to the regions they were discovered from yet
due to almost 50000 copies of NT manuscripts found we can compare and see
the differences are grammatical and spelling mistakes. There are a handful
of verses where are contestable amongst the copies but then these verses
are not fundamental to our faith and even eliminating them totally does not
change any principle factor of the Christian faith.

Both in Islam and Hinduism reciting word to word is important. Coming to
the Bible (which means book) we see the context of the text is more
important and that context cannot be changed. Jehovah Witnesses are
considered a cult and not a part of Christianity only because they have
changed the context of scriptures just by repositioning things like commas
and semicolons. By doing this they have taken away the divinity of Jesus
Christ of being God (the Son).

God says we are not called to memorize scriptures but understand the
context of the scripture. Language is just a medium and tool to convey the
understanding; it is the understanding which will set us free from the yoke
of sin and death.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Almighty God. During the time of Moses You wrote the
Commandments on stone tablets with your Finger but said in the later days
You will write in the hearts and minds of people. Lord we pray your Spirit
engraves the understanding of the Word in our hearts by revealing its
understanding to us...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Habakkuk 1:5 Behold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder
marvellously: for I will work a work in your days, which ye will not
believe, though it be told you.

Jeremiah 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the
house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in
their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God,
and they shall be my people.

Hebrews 10:16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those
days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their
minds will I write them;

Revelation 22: 19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the
book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of
life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in
this book.

Feet and Voice of the Lord

Revelation 1:15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a
furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.

Today’s message from Revelation describes two aspect of the Lord Jesus
Christ one His feet and other His voice.

If we check the Greek text the word translated simply as brass is actually
a compound word which says frankincense tree made of brass. Frankincense
incense was used for worship and brass was used for making currency / money
symbolizing prosperity. Legs / feet symbolize way of life. Jesus washing
the feet of His disciples had less to do with humility but more to do with
forgiveness. Jesus did not wash their hands nor wash /bath them. Hands
symbolize one’s doing. One needs to wash one’s own hands meaning one needs
to repent, reconcile and get forgiveness for one’s own doings but sins
which one does without intention can be forgiven by praying for one
another. It was this that Jesus mean when He said wash each other’s feet.

The Greek word ‘phone’ translated as voice correlates (has same base) to
the word phos (light) / phaino (to shine one’s light). The word translated
as many waters related to rain water. Rain symbolizes mercy. It was the
Word / Voice of God that became the light that created this world which we
dwell in. The Rainbow (Spirit of the Lord - 7 Spirits) in His covenant with
Noah is our assurance of His mercy.

What is interesting is this image which today’s message shows of Christ is
not of Him in His divine nature as believed by most, but of Him as Son of
Man. He is our Corner Stone meaning an example to us, so everywhere it says
Son of Man means we too are included / party to it.

Today’s message talks of us, of what we will become at the end (as Sons of
God) and need to strive for as of today. We as son of man are called to
live a life of worship and (spiritual) prosperity, shining our light which
primarily shows abundant mercy. It means if we are not making worship a way
of our life we are failing Christ. It also means we need to live a life
which spiritually keeps prospering. Understand if we are not spiritually
growing we are backsliding; there is nothing like being stationary in the
spiritual world.

[Prayer Starter]

Lord You are Almighty God. You Lord made us in your own image but sin
corrupted us. You Lord work in us through your Spirit and Word to reform
us. Lord we pray we understand the importance of worshiping You; it is not
that You benefit from our worship but we worship for us to relate to You
and benefit us. Let us also understand the danger of not continually
growing spiritually. Help us to live a life that shines your abundant
mercy...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]

Exodus 30:21 So they shall wash their hands and their feet, that they die
not: and it shall be a statute for ever to them, even to him and to his
seed throughout their generations.

John 13:14 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also
ought to wash one another’s feet.

Genesis 9:13-15

13 I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant
between me and the earth.

15 And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every
living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood
to destroy all flesh.

16 And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may
remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of
all flesh that is upon the earth.

Revelation 4:3 And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a
sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight
like unto an emerald.

Revelation 10:1 And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven,
clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as
it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire:

Isaiah 59:21 As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the LORD; My
spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall
not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of
the mouth of thy seed’s seed, saith the LORD, from henceforth and for ever.

Nurturing Sheep or Goats?

Galatians 4:11 I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in
vain.

One big misconception most people working in the Lord’s Vineyard / Kingdom
have is that by making one to accept the Lord Jesus Christ we have won a
soul for the Kingdom of God and confirmed for ourselves a reward in Heaven.

We need to get it into us just by believing one does not become a
Christian. Jesus did not say go out and make believers but said go out and
make disciples. To make disciples we need to first make believers and then
groom them in Christ.

On Judgment Day Christ said the sheep will be separated from the goats. We
need to understand both sheep and goats are part of the flock. Paul says
those who do not believe are already judged. So on Judgment Day it is only
those who believe who will stand before the Judgment Seat.

If we look at the lives of the Apostles we understand the hunger, thirst,
nakedness and homelessness that Jesus spoke in Matthew 25:31-46 was not
natural kind but the spiritual kind. Christians are called not be social
workers but spiritual workers. We are indeed called to help those in need
but more to bring souls to Christ than to serve their worldly needs. What
use would it be if I serve a thousand persons in need but not win one soul
for the Kingdom of God? On the other side of the coin almost all
Evangelist, Preachers and Ministers of the Kingdom of God are concentrating
on giving the Gospel and making believers, but only a handful are doing the
work of disciplining people in Christ. If one talks of discipleship they
immediately think of a course, a 4days or 15days program where they are
bombarded with talks.

In today’s message we see Paul is worried if those in Galatia whom he had
bought into the Lord were goats and not sheep, if they would indeed be
citizens of Heaven.

Jesus took 3 years to make disciples of the 12 before handing them over to
His Spirit. Paul also took years to build people like Timothy, Philemon,
Titus and others before addressing them as his associates. It is also true
we may not do all the roles of grooming a person in Christ but then if we
are responsible for a harvest, would we not keep a watchful eye on it even
when someone else is working on it?

Let us understand our role does not end with a person until that person is
handed over and led by the Holy Spirit. Once we see the person is in close
relationship with the Holy Spirit and led by Him then it is our duty to
step back. If we try to led a person forever or continue even after the
Holy Spirit has taken over, then we are taking the place of Christ and God
in the lives of those people.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Awesome God. Your ways are not like the ways of man. You Lord
do the impossible that too through insignificant man. Lord we pray we are
not deceived into believing the goats we bring into your flock will gain us
rewards in Heaven. We pray we concentrate on making sheep and not goats...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Matthew 25:31-46

Acts 6:2-4
2 And the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and
said, It is not fit that we should forsake the word of God, and serve
tables.
3 Look ye out therefore, brethren, from among you seven men of good
report, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may appoint over this
business.
4 But we will continue stedfastly in prayer, and in the ministry of the
word.

1 Corinthians 3:4-11
4 For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye
not carnal?
5 Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed,
even as the Lord gave to every man?
6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth;
but God that giveth the increase.
8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall
receive his own reward according to his own labour.
9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are
God’s building.
10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise
masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon.
But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus
Christ.

Throwing all your anxiety upon Him

1 Peter 5:7 Casting [throwing] all your care [anxiety] upon him; for he
careth for you.

The word casting used in today’s verse does refer to placing or keeping but
refers to throwing. Throwing an object requires force, requires strength,
it requires one to be in aggression.

Anger is not evil but the direction and duration of anger is very
important. It is like fire which can be useful as well as dangerous.
Ephesians 4:26 tells us to be angry but have caution on the cause and
purpose of anger. It also tells us not to let the sun go down on our anger.
A Christians are called to be angry and this anger should be directed not
to people who do evil but to the evil in people. We are called to hate sin
but love the sinner. If we hate the sinner then sin will have victor for
its aim is to destroy its host.

Another aspect God warns us about the time duration of keeping anger. Sun
symbolizes grace. Grace is given for a purpose and is not forever. Like the
Word of God returns to the Lord after it accomplices its purpose so also
grace has a purpose. To have anger we need to first have grace. Without
grace holding anger is like holding a burning coal with bare hands. Grace
is not blanket cover covering all aspects of life but is specific; one can
have grace in one area and lack in another. It is according to the faith in
the promise in that area that we experience grace in that area, since grace
is received only by faith. When we pray for ‘more grace’ it does not mean
quantity but means variety and duration.

The word care / anxiety needs to be understood from its root meaning. In
Greek the root word means dividing. Being anxious means mentally dividing /
analyzing a problem. In English anxiety is defined as solving a problem
before it occurs. There is a thin line between being prepared and being
anxious (futile anxiety). Futile anxiety is when the problem does not occur
but the pressure experienced causes other problems to occur. Before we
become anxious, let us be sure if the problem does exist. Bible tells us to
discuss with people and not assume things. If we are anxious we are asked
to speak to other who can guide us and not do mental divisions. Things
which are beyond our human capacity to handle we are advice to let God
handle it. Bible says God is omnipresent (present everywhere in space and
time). It also says the end is already written. So for us who know the
victory is already set, then why are we worrying?

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Omnipotent and Omnipresent God. Nothing is impossible for You
and nothing is hidden from You. You God work through those who have faith.
We pray Lord we do not let faithlessness hinder You working in us and
through us. Help us to have faith and thus overcome anxiety. Also help us
to control our anger and not let it harm us...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Ephesians 4:26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your
wrath:

Matthew 6:25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what
ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall
put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

Matthew 6:34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow
shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the
evil thereof.

Luke 12:11-12
11 And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and
powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye
shall say:
12 For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to
say.

R.D SOUZA Saved by faith - Page 17 Empty Re: R.D SOUZA Saved by faith

Believe to be saved

Romans 10:11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not
be ashamed.

Today’s message is one scripture whose misinterpretation has many deceived.
Most Christians are of the understanding by believing in the Lord Jesus
Christ one is saved. This is not wrong but then it is not as simple as what
people believe.

In English grammar we have basically 3 tenses Past, Present and Future but
in Greek we have 7 tenses. Understanding the grammar of the words is of
utmost importance for it brings the right interpretation of the sentence.

In today’s message the word ‘believe’ can be put in English as Present
Participle (Active) tense. Present participle is often used when we want to
express an active action. In English we add -ing to the infinitive of the
verb.

Faith is not an object that can be bought and considered to be in
possession of forever. One cannot say one is a Believer just because once
upon a time the person believed in the Lord Jesus Christ. The word faith
used here is in verb form and that means one needs to be doing it. One
needs to be in faith to say that one has faith.

Bible says one is saved by grace which comes by having faith. That means if
I do not have faith then I do not have grace. So to keep having grace I
need to keep having faith, the day I reject or stop believing in the Lord
Jesus’ Christ I am not considered eligible to be saved.

Running the race primarily refers to keeping the faith going in us. Faith
is like a burning fire it can be small or can be big, if it is small it can
be easily extinguished but if it is big it stand tests better. To make it
big we need to continually add fuel to it and the fuel for faith are
scripture study, fellowship with those of faith and works of faith. Amongst
these works of faith are like logs of wood, works of faith simply means
doing the Will of the Father. Going out and reaching out to lost souls or
encouraging those who as struggling in their faith are not about doing
favor on others. These are acts of faith which help increase our faith and
thus help us stand our own tests of faith.

Let us understand the importance of keeping our faith burning. Let us also
understand we are not called to just keep faith burning but also increase
the size of our faith by regularly adding fuel so that stands tests. It is
only then we can say we have faith and will be saved.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Almighty God and You do not sleep. You Lord have blessed us
with all things but in spite of it we lack, are weak and sick. It is our
lack of faith that keeps our blessings away from us. Lord we pray we grow
strong in faith, be richly blessed and sure of our salvation in You...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of
yourselves: it is the gift of God:

James 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath
faith, and have not works? can faith save him?

1 Corinthians 9:24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but
one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.

Hebrews 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a
cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth
so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set
before us,

Philippians 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as
in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own
salvation with fear and trembling.

To be a Teacher

1 Timothy 1:7 Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither
what they say, nor whereof they affirm.

Any person who has hands and has strength to hold a pencil or pen can draw
but then everyone who can draw does not become an artist. One can train in
the skill and become good in drawing but then there are those who are born
gifted. These gifted people also need learn the skill but the effect of the
skill has multiplying effect on them unlike those not gifted.

To study and understand the Word of God is the basic need of every
Christian. No one can become a Christian without understanding the Word of
God. The moment a person is baptized in the Holy Spirit each and every one
receives the ability to understand the Word, but then they do not become
Teachers of the Law.

The Greek word nomodidaskalos used here as Teachers of the Law is a
compound word and means Masters or Interpreters of the Law. Teacher is a
Calling and in hierarchy is below a Prophet who in turn is below an
Apostle, but above Evangelist, Administrator (Bishop) and Healer.

Pastor is not a Calling. Everyone who leads others to the Lord is a Pastor,
which is a Greek word meaning shepherd. Since the word is not translated,
people use it as a title or position. Biblically those who lead a large
congregation are supposed to be called Bishop. The word means one who
overlooks or watches out on others. To appoint a person as Bishop he or she
needs to be skilled or one with a Calling. Paul gives a guideline of
appointing such a (skilled) person in 1 Timothy 3:1-7.

Coming back to today’s message on Teachers. One can learn to interpret
scriptures but then that does not make the person a Teacher / Master in
interpreting scriptures. Being a Teacher I know it is an ability I have not
developed but that is within me. Even with my daily devotions when I see
the scripture I receive I wonder what I will do with it, but at the end
even I rejoice on what the Lord reveals.

As the basics are built the expounding of scriptures becomes easier. In the
starting when I was new I was taught via visions like Daniel and John of
Revelations. But then slowly the visions reduced as the ability to
understand them grew. Today only in drastic situation where I hit a wall
then only do I get visions to explain the scripture or topic of God’s
Kingdom. That also does not mean each and everything I ask gets revealed
immediately. Sometimes God delays it because there are other things which
need to get into place before the final understanding is revealed.

We can do all things in Christ but that does not mean we can be Apostles,
Prophets, Teachers, Evangelists, Bishops and Healers. When time and purpose
comes we will do every one of these tasks like disciplining, prophesying,
teaching, evangelizing, guiding and healing but then the Lord has given
some one Calling and some other Callings. It is only when we understand the
background of each Calling and how each one is different and related to the
Holy Spirit (7 Spirits of the Lord) will we have clear knowledge and
understanding of them.

Today’s message warns us even though we have ability to do all things let
us respect those whom the Lord has specially assigned the task to. Peter
says the secret of never failing in our spiritual race, is being sure of
our Calling and election [purpose / mission].

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God and full of Wisdom. In your wisdom You Lord made us to be
part of a body. Even though in You we have ability to do all things yet You
designed us for a specific Calling and mission, giving us special ability
for that mission. Lord we pray we learn to humble ourselves and know our
limitation. May we learn to respect others who are called in a Calling...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

What has Easter to do with the Lord’s Resurrection?

James 1: 11 For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it
withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the
fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.

In today’s message we see James replaces the word Spirit in Isaiah 40:7-8
with Sun without changing the root understanding. The scripture tries to
show how the glory of man is temporary and pure vanity.

In a few days we see another great vanity people replacing one festival
with another. They celebrate Easter while claiming to celebrate
Resurrection Day.

When people are asked what is Easter they will immediately state ‘Rising of
the Sun in the East’ now how does this reflect the Lord’s Resurrection is a
mystery. If one goes by Bible symbolism East / Left reflects
unrighteousness and West / Right as righteousness. It is like changing the
scripture ‘the Lord said unto My Lord, sit thou at my Right hand until I
make thine enemies thy footstool’, to make it as ‘the Lord said unto My
Lord, sit thou at my Left hand until I make thine enemies thy footstool’.
They will then claim Hand is Hand, Left or Right does not matter.

In short when we celebrate ‘Easter’ and relate it to Christ’s Resurrection
it is like saying Christ failed. The name would have possibly made sense if
it was related to His birth and not His resurrection. Christianity stand on
Resurrection of the Lord, without it there is no Christianity.

Where did this name come from?

This name originally was a feast related to the birth of a goddess name
Ashtoreth, the goddess who pursued the Israelites to worship her as ‘Queen
of Heaven’, the Catholics to worship her as ‘Mary the Mother of God’ and
now us Believers as Easter. Easter eggs, bunnies are all related to the
myth of this goddess.

The Catholics who pushed this feast unto us themselves do not deny the name
has to do with the goddess. The Bible dictionary (Harpers) recommended by
the Catholic Church acknowledges the name is originally to do with the
goddess. In the book of Acts we see the translators have translated the
word Pascha/ Paschal as Easter.

Let us not behave like cattle, but use discernment. Let us do all things
with understanding and faith for Bible says anything that we do without
understanding / faith is sin, since we do rituals and worship Baal / an
unknown god.

Let us celebrate the Lord Resurrection and not Easter. We as Christians can
celebrate ‘Resurrection Sunday’ or ‘Paschal Sunday’ but not Easter which
fails on the same day.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Holy God. You Lord command us to be holy for You are Holy. You
instruct us to reach out to the lost but yet tell us not to have fellowship
with them. We are called to give unto them and not receive from them. We
who are children of the light are asked to separate ourselves from
darkness. We are called to go in darkness and shine our light unto them and
not accept their darkness. We pray Lord You bless your people with
discernment...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass.
8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall
stand for ever.

Acts 12:4 And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and
delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after
Easter [Pascha] to bring him forth to the people.

Ephesians 5:6-8
6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things
cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk
as children of light:

Harden not your hearts

Hebrew 3:15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not
your hearts, as in the provocation.

The BBE translation of this verse gives a more simple view of it:-
Hebrew 3:15 As it is said, Today if you will let his voice come to your
ears, be not hard of heart, as when you made him angry.

The scripture does not talk of God speaking to us in a special way but
speaks of us letting into our ears His voice.

Like God is everywhere in time and space so also He is always speaking to
us, we do not hear Him because we chose to not hear Him. It is only when we
tune ourselves to His Spirit that we hear His voice. If we study deep into
this and connected scriptures we see it is not only God who speaks to us
but many other things also speak to us and greatest amongst them is our
desires. More than anything we talk to ourselves and it is this that drowns
the voice of God.

When Bible says ‘be still’ it implies we shut up and stop talking to
ourselves. Jesus said many a time ‘do not fear’ and we will note maximum
time this fear arises because we ‘think’ or ‘imagine’ in other words talk
to ourselves.

Hardening of heart is not about not being emotional. Heart is not just
emotions. Heart or inner man or spirit-man (not the spirit but the soul) is
made of 5 main parts which constitute our discernment, our will, our mind
(memory), our nature and our conscience.

Discernment and conscience are two different ends of our spirit man one
concerns the natural world while the other to the spirit world. We are
called to discern the things of this world and called to be conscious of
the things of the spirit world. The second gate is controlled by the first
gate. When we do not use our discernment we open the floodgates for all
kind of garbage to fill us (from both ends) which destroys our productivity
and later ourselves. The more we exercise our discernment the better we
will use our spiritual conscience. Hearing the voice of God comes from us
having a better conscious. People call this also as ‘Word of Knowledge’ or
‘whispering of the Holy Spirit’.

Another thing we need to understand is hearing the voice of God does not
mean we are ‘holy’. The scripture says ‘after hearing God do not harden
your hearts’. Hardening is to do more with the 3 other parts which are our
will, our mind and our nature. Our will is the most important part which
overlooks our whole in inner-man it is our throne on which we can seat God,
ourselves (our world) or evil, the latter two will destroy us and only God
seated on our throne can save us. Having faith or God / Holy Spirit
dwelling in us, has to do with God being seated on our throne. Mind and
nature has to do with what we hold, what we are and they affect each other
for what we know we become. Our eyes and ears are the greatest contributors
to our knowledge.

We spend a lot of time on our natural body and efforts to maintain it. Let
us also be aware of our spiritual body and see what we hold in it or how we
exercise it. Our natural body will perish and go to dust but it is the
state of our spiritual body which will cause us to enter the Kingdom of God
or eternal damnation.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God. You made man in your image and sin corrupted the image.
You came as man, paid our price, gave us your Word and Spirit to restore
the image within us. Lord we pray we give more importance to our spirit man
than we do to our natural body. Help us to hear your voice and to abide in
it...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Deuteronomy 9:4 Speak not thou in thy heart, after that Jehovah thy God
hath thrust them out from before thee, saying, For my righteousness Jehovah
hath brought me in to possess this land; whereas for the wickedness of
these nations Jehovah doth drive them out from before thee.

Psalms 49:3 My mouth shall speak wisdom; And the meditation of my heart
shall be of understanding.

Psalms 12:2 They speak falsehood every one with his neighbor: With
flattering lip, and with a double heart, do they speak.

Matthew 12:34 Ye offspring of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good
things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

Cheat code to getting prayers answered

Colossians 4:2 Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with
thanksgiving;

Some days back when I posted about how faith quickens our prayers and how
faithlessness delays our prayers, a brother got upset with me since he was
struggling in getting an answer to his prayer.

Bible (Matthew 13:58) says even the authority of Jesus failed to do many
miracles in a place where the people did not have faith. At times
faithlessness is so strong that we need to step out of its surrounding to
receive our healing or prayer request. Jesus shows this by taking the deaf
and dumb man out of a faithless crowd to heal him and to attend the lack of
faith of that deaf and dumb person Jesus restores to an unconventional way
of healing him. Jesus also did the same with a blind person when in
Bethsaida a place He cursed later for its faithlessness.

Today’s message tells us about how to prayer. The Greek word translated as
prayer is a compound word made of two words ‘unto wish’. We are called to
pray until we are recipients of our request. But today’s message cautions
us, it tells us to be vigilant in prayer and this we need to do with
thanksgiving! The message actually tells us without faith we will not
receive our prayer request and to keep that faith alive we need to thank
God for all that He has already blessed us with.

Today’s message can be considered like a cheat code used in computer games
where in one can jump difficult situations and long journeys by using the
code. Today’s message tells us the cheat code for getting prayers answered
is thank God. This thanking is not to please God but to revive our faith,
so when we thank God we remind ourselves about how God does answer prayer.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Living God nothing is hidden from You for You see all and know
all. Lord even before we ask in prayer You already know it. Lord we pray we
have strong faith and believe we have received so as to truly receive. We
pray when we lack faith we remember to thank You so as to increase our
faith...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
John 12:40 He hath blinded their eyes, and he hardened their heart; Lest
they should see with their eyes, and perceive with their heart, And should
turn, And I should heal them.

Matthew 13:58 And he did not many mighty works there because of their
unbelief.

Mark 7:33-36
33 And he took him aside from the multitude, and put his fingers into his
ears, and he spit, and touched his tongue;
34 And looking up to heaven, he sighed, and saith unto him, Ephphatha,
that is, Be opened.
35 And straightway his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was
loosed, and he spake plain.
36 And he charged them that they should tell no man: but the more he
charged them, so much the more a great deal they published it;

Mark 8:22-25
22 And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and
besought him to touch him.
23 And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and
when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if
he saw ought.
24 And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking.
25 After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up:
and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.

Matthew 11:21 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if
the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon,
they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

The tragedy of Joseph

Acts 7:13 And at the second time Joseph was made known to his brethren;
and Joseph’s kindred was made known unto Pharaoh.

We all know about Solomon of how even after God blessed him abundantly yet
his heart was led astray by the heathen women he married or had kept as
concubines. Solomon was not a nymphomaniac or pedophile like the prophet of
another religion who had about 12to14 wives only for the sake of sex
(leaving for his first wife whom he married for her riches and was older
than him). Solomon had almost a thousand wives and concubines (700+300) and
he did so solely for the reason he was a lover of art. He was well known
for his passion for beauty and obsession to possess them; it was only
because he was blessed abundantly with riches that he could entertain this
passion of an art collector.

Joseph on the other hand hidden to most was a greater tragedy than Solomon.
Although God had blessed Joseph with great wisdom, He not only saved him
from great disasters but took him to great glory, yet we see Joseph was a
greater tragedy than Solomon. Stephen in his narration before he was
martyred states how only on the second visit of his brothers reveals
himself to them and introduces them to Pharaoh. No doubt Joseph did help
his brethren to survive the great famine but we see when it was over Joseph
forgot his blessing had a purpose in God’s Kingdom and forgetting the
purpose he held on to the blessing. He chose not to join his brothers back
to the land promised by God but stayed back in Egypt. Bible says Joseph was
not given any inheritance in the Promised Land but his sons placed him. It
only says his bones were carried.

From Joseph and Solomon we need to learn about blessings. There are worldly
blessings and spiritual blessings. Blessings are for a purpose, when it
comes to worldly blessings we should not hold on to the blessing for ever
but release it. Things like riches, skills (talents), worldly
knowledge/wisdom, personality, position, influence etc. are things we
should not hold on to dearly. We should realize they are given for a
purpose and let go of them when the purpose is done. Let us not lose the
spiritual purpose for worldly purposes. Our spiritual destiny is more
important than our worldly destiny.

Worldly blessings will cause people to talk about us and even praise us but
like Bible says a time will come, like it happened with Joseph that they
will forget us.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Almighty and Eternal God. You are Spirit and your Kingdom is
Spiritual. Things of the Spirit are more real than natural things. All
natural things will perish and your Kingdom alone will remain. Lord we pray
we seek not the things of the natural world but seek more the things of the
spirit world...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Acts 7:12-18
12 But when Jacob heard that there was corn in Egypt, he sent out our
fathers first.
13 And at the second time Joseph was made known to his brethren; and
Joseph’s kindred was made known unto Pharaoh.
14 Then sent Joseph, and called his father Jacob to him, and all his
kindred, threescore and fifteen souls.
15 So Jacob went down into Egypt, and died, he, and our fathers,
16 And were carried over into Sychem, and laid in the sepulchre that
Abraham bought for a sum of money of the sons of Emmor the father of Sychem..
17 But when the time of the promise drew nigh, which God had sworn to
Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt,
18 Till another king arose, which knew not Joseph.

1 Kings 11:3-4
3 And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred
concubines; and his wives turned away his heart.
4 For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away
his heart after other gods; and his heart was not perfect with Jehovah his
God, as was the heart of David his father.

Matthew 6:29 yet I say unto you, that even Solomon in all his glory was
not arrayed like one of these.

Genesis 50:26 So Joseph died, being a hundred and ten years old: and they
embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.

2 Chronicles 9:31 And Solomon slept with his fathers, and he was buried in
the city of David his father: and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.

Rights as a Citizen

Acts 22:28 And the chief captain answered, With a great sum obtained I
this freedom [citizenship]. And Paul said, But I was born.

Before the medieval period Romans headed by an emperor ruled a large part
of the world and every region had people designated by Rome to rule it. In
most places there were dual rulers, one a local ruler who was normally
someone from the royal family which ruled the land before they surrendered
or were defeated by the Romans, and the other was the Roman representative
who overlooked the local representative and reported to Rome. A citizen of
a region was under the rule of that region and if he or she moved to
another region and did a crime the ruler of the other region had the
responsibility to take permission to judge or at least report the judgment
to the rulers of the person’s native region. This was followed religiously
especially if the ruler of the person’s native region was more powerful.

When it came to those who were citizens of Rome, since they were directly
under the emperor’s rule they had special status. If they did commit a
crime the rulers of the various regions did not have right to judge them,
they had to send the person to Rome to be judged only by the emperor /
senate. Like in the Hindu belief system the Romans’ belief too considered
their good rulers to be a god. Thus the emperor had the status of a deity
and was worshiped. Julius Caesar was the most famous Roman emperor who
became an icon to all rulers, so much so that even all his family members
were considered gods. It is for this reason his (sur)name was used by his
successors, which caused the word ‘Caesar’ to became a title.

In today’s message we see the chief captain (Chiliarch - commander of a
thousand soldiers) discloses how he paid a large sum of money to get the
status of being a citizen of Rome so as to enjoy its special privileges.
Paul on the other hand shares that by birth he had inherited the
citizenship privileges.

Today’s message is not to learn the political or historical background of
Roman citizenship but for us to realize of which kingdom are we citizens
of? If we consider ourselves citizens of an earthly kingdom we will be
ruled by earthly rulers, but if we consider ourselves citizens of the
Heavenly Kingdom then no ruler of this earth will have power over us.

Like citizenship had to be either bought for a price or inherited by birth
so also citizenship of Heaven is either bought for a price or inherited by
birth. If we ask Christians by what right have they received the
citizenship most of them will say Jesus Christ paid the price for our
citizenship, this does sound nice, but is not the right answer.

Jesus always equated our citizenship with parables like the prodigal son.
The son was by birth an inheritor to his father’s land but had given up his
right for some temporary pleasure. When he returned back the father
restored his right. Bible also says the Lord has chosen us even before we
were born in our mother’s womb and that our names are written in the Book
of Life right from the foundation of creation.

We who are called by the Lord are by birth citizens of Heaven but are like
the prodigal son. Jesus Christ as man became the Good Shepherd who brings
back the lost sheep back into the flock. As man He had limitation amongst
them as that He also could not be as man forever to bring all the lost back
into the flock. So after He paid the price of our release from Hell, He
made available His Spirit who leads us back to our inheritance, our
citizenship.

God spoke to us about faith and authority in our pervious messages. We as
citizens have a right, an authority which we do not exercise because we are
not aware of it. Our spiritual lives and our prayer lives are void of this
knowledge. Let the Word and its revelation by the Spirit of the Son bring
us to the knowledge of our authority as citizens of Heaven.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are our God. You created us like fruit trees amongst grass. You
let us grow amongst them but You marked each one of us even before we knew
You. Lord we pray we understand who we are in You and the authority we hold
as being citizens of Heaven. Lord we pray we come to the understanding of
this...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Ephesians 2:19-22
19 So then ye are no more strangers and sojourners, but ye are
fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the household of God,

Jesus himself being the chief corner stone;
21 in whom each several building, fitly framed together, groweth into a
holy temple in the Lord;

Lack of proper foundation

Hebrew 2:5 For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to
come, whereof we speak.

Yesterday a person was in discussion with me for a long time insisting that
salvation is in the word Yehoshu'a /Joshua (Yah is Salvation) which is the
Hebrew name of Jesus. He was from a Hindu background and had the mentally
like Hindus do that is of chanting on a word for spiritual enlightenment.
He was not aware the Aramaic equivalent of the name was Yeshua and that
people during His time called Jesus either Yehoshu’a or Yeshua and must
have never used the word Iesous for Him, yet it was the Apostles who used
the Greek word ‘Iesous’ which also means (Jehovah is salvation) for Jesus.
It was the Apostles who translated the Gospels to Greek in their life time
and also wrote few of the letters directly in Greek using the name Iesous.

When I confronted the person with why they did not name Jesus as Emmanuel
(God with us) as prophesied in scriptures but named Him Yehoshua? He said
the meaning of the name was same! The person did not use the same yardstick
for Iesous which was closer to Yehoshua than Emmanuel. Yehoshua uses the
name Yah for God while Emmanuel uses EL for God. Yah or Jehovah or EL, are
all references for God. In Biblical languages the meaning was more
important than phonics of the name. It is only in the modern languages we
give importance to the phonics more than the meaning, that is why in
English Jesus comes from Iesous.

Confusion among Christians is primarily because the foundation belief is
not properly set. Believer Churches do have foundation courses, by sadly it
is not Biblically set but has been improved from that which the Catholic
Church had set. They have tried to correct the wrong teachings that were
taught in the Catholic Church from the time since we have come out of t.

Hebrews 6:1-2 sets the foundational topics which need to be cleared in the
minds of every maturing Christian other than knowing the Gospel of Jesus
Christ

Difference between works of righteousness and works of faith
Baptisms in Christ and in His Spirit
Resurrection of the dead
Eternal Judgment

It is only when these topics are clear in the minds of a Christian, will he
or she be founded on solid rock and not shaky sand.

Today’s message talks of the world after judgment and here we see Paul says
that world will not be ruled by Angels, this may seem contradicting his own
statement in 1 Corinthians 6:2. It is only when we understand resurrection
of the dead and eternal judgment that we know they do not contradict but
point to different periods of creation (pre judgment and post judgment).

Man was created to have dominance over this world, but we lost it due to
sin. Now that Christ is restoring our nature and removing the sin nature in
us then why are we not exercising our dominance over this world? Are we
waiting for another world?

Let us be clear of our authority and know He has given all powers to come
into submission under us who are in Him.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God and Creator. You Lord made us kings over this world and
sin made us lose our authority. You came as man to restore our kingship and
we are ignorant of our rights and powers. Lord we pray we are not deceived
and know our authority in You...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Hebrews 6:1-2
1 Wherefore leaving the doctrine of the first principles of Christ, let us
press on unto perfection; not laying again a foundation of repentance from
dead works, and of faith toward God,
2 of the teaching of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of
resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.

1 Corinthians 6:2 Or know ye not that the saints shall judge the world?
and if the world is judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest
matters?

Colossians 1: 12-18
12 giving thanks unto the Father, who made us meet to be partakers of the
inheritance of the saints in light;
13 who delivered us out of the power of darkness, and translated us into
the kingdom of the Son of his love;
14 in whom we have our redemption, the forgiveness of our sins:
15 who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation;
16 for in him were all things created, in the heavens and upon the earth,
things visible and things invisible, whether thrones or dominions or
principalities or powers; all things have been created through him, and
unto him;
17 and he is before all things, and in him all things consist.
18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the
firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

R.D SOUZA Saved by faith - Page 17 Empty Re: R.D SOUZA Saved by faith

Post  Admin Sun 11 Mar 2018, 11:53 pm

Is there blind faith?

Hebrew 11:1, 2 Now faith is the substance [confidence] of things hoped for,
the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good
report.

When we get to the interlinear translation of the verse Hebrew 11:1 from
manuscripts it reads ‘but faith is the substance hoped, proof of things not
seen’. This verse has become a definition of faith.

Initially I too would rattle this verse when I was asked to define faith.
But later when I studied faith I realized this verse described faith to
some extend but cannot be considered as its definition.

The NT has 5 Greek words which are generically translated as faith but in
few translations they use the proper translation of the respective words.

Elpis - hope
Peitho - trust
Oligopistos - little faith
Pistis - faith
Exousia - authority

Faith starts with hope and ends with authority. The confusion in the
definition comes because people use the mid word for this term, like young
teen boy being used to define man. When we understand authority we
understand faith.

Authority is defined as knowing the truth and exercising in the knowledge
of it. A person in authority sees things clearly and thus is unshaken.

Person having faith on the other hand knows the truth partly but believes
in it strongly and since the person cannot see it clearly the person
depends on the strength of holding on to what the person believes. Faith is
always a struggle since the truth is not fully clear.

Trust on the other hand is when a person has no clear knowledge of the
truth but has experience holding on to the belief. It is the experience
that takes place of knowing the truth. This is why when the experience is
bad the trust breaks and is lost while a person having faith will keep
holding.

Hope is when a person has no clear knowledge and no experience. It is the
very little knowledge that is all the person has.

Our journey of faith starts with hope and ends with authority. Gospel
initiates hope and starts the process of growth of faith towards authority.
Only a Son has authority in his Father’s Kingdom.

We were made Sons of God having dominance which we lost due to sin. Adam
and Eve ate of the fruit of doubt and caused the Truth to be corrupted.
Jesus Christ came as man to pay the price of our sins and give us the
Spirit of Truth. It is the Spirit of Truth who reveals the Truth and
restores our Sonship by making us again Sons of God.

In simple words faith can simply be put as knowing the truth, when we
understand this then concepts like ‘blind faith’ become oxymoron. This
definition also causes other religions to be understood. Since they have no
knowledge of the truth they oscillate between hope and trust. Jesus truly
said when we become His disciples and receive His Spirit we will know the
Truth, and the Truth will set us free.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You alone are God and You are Truth. You never change for You are
eternal. Lord we doubted You and sinned. The Truth in us got corrupted and
caused us to lose our righteousness. Lord we pray we hold on to the Holy
Spirit whom we received because You paid the price of our sins. Holy Spirit
reveal to us the Truth so that we grow in faith and become Sons having
authority like Christ did as man...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Luke 6:34 And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope [Elpis] to receive, what
thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.

Mark 10:24 And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus
answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them
that trust [Peitho] in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!

Matthew 8:26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little
faith [Oligopistos]? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and
there was a great calm.

Matthew 8:10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that
followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith [Pistis],
no, not in Israel.

Luke 4:36 And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying,
What a word is this! for with authority [Exousia] and power he commandeth
the unclean spirits, and they come out.

John 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive,
because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he
dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons
of God.

John 8:31-32
31 Jesus therefore said to those Jews that had believed him, If ye abide
in my word, then are ye truly my disciples;
32 and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Faithless prayer

Acts 12:14, 15 And when she knew Peter’s voice, she opened not the gate
for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate. And
they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was
even so. Then said they, It is his angel.

Yesterday the Lord spoke to us about faith. Today the Lord wants to speak
about ours faithlessness. Many will be offended with me for today’s message
since it exposes our faithless prayer lives.

Many a times when Preachers preach on power of prayer they quote Acts 12:5
where the Church comes together to pray unceasingly because Peter was
arrested and put in prison. We see soon an Angel appears and frees Peter
from prison. Preachers do not realize it was not the prayer of the Church
which caused the Angel to appear and free Peter, cause we see in today’s
message when Peter after being released knocked at the door, they refused
to believe it was Peter at the door. Even after the young girl Rose [Rhoda]
who lived in Mark’s house went to the door and recognized Peter and tried
hard to convince them it was Peter yet they refused to give her permission
to open the door and allow him inside. They went on to the extent of
stating it was Peter’s guardian Angel who looked like Peter and not Peter
(this was a Jewish myth that every person has a guardian Angel, which is
sadly yet believed). The Church was more interested in praying for the
release of Peter than to accept God had already done it.

When I see people making long prayers, repeating words again and again, or
shouting at the top of their voice while praying, I see a person lacking
faith, a struggling person at prayer.

We need to understand in prayer we make our request and when we believe our
request is heard we do not keep repeating our request or try presenting it
in various ways so that God gets convinced. When people pray they quote
scriptures thinking through them they will remind God His promise and thus
deliver. Quoting scriptures is prayer is good but note, it is not for God
we quote it but for ourselves so that we believe in them and increase our
faith to hold on the promise and receive.

It is our faithlessness that stands between us and our receiving the
request. Jesus said believe first and then receive. The most powerful
prayer given in the Bible is said by Jesus and that is the simple words
‘Thank You Father’. All the greatest miracles Jesus did was with the prayer
thanking the Father. Jesus’ weakest prayer was in the Garden of Gethsemane
where He struggled to accept the Will of the Father and suffer separation
for a period.

If we read the parable of the widow and judge we read after the persistent
request the judge did answer but then at the end Jesus said when He comes
again will He find faith. Persistence prayer does get our prayer answer but
after a long time, prayer of faith gets it done instantly.

Let our prayer life be more of faith and less of prayer. Prayer is good but
as faith grows the prayer becomes shorter and thanking God takes most part
of our prayer. Let our faith become so strong that our prayers be just of
thanking God amongst His people.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God. You know our thoughts and desires even before we speak
them out. You are not man to forget or one who needs to be convinced. You
Lord answer the desires of the heart of those who seek You and your ways.
Lord we pray we mature spiritually that we pray like Jesus just thanking
You in advance and seeing your glory. Let our faith be like a mustard seed
which even thou small yet without doubt...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Acts 12:1-17

Mark 11:24 Therefore I say unto you, All things whatsoever ye pray and ask
for, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

Luke 18:8 I say unto you, that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless,
when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

John 11:40-41
40 Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou believedst,
thou shouldest see the glory of God?
41 So they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said,
Father, I thank thee that thou heardest me.

The institution name Paul

Romans 16:22 I Tertius, who wrote this epistle, salute you in the Lord.

In today’s message we see the epistles of Paul were written by others like
this letter to the Romans was written by a person named Tertius. There is
nothing mentioned about this person elsewhere yet he gets mentioned here.
Paul did dictate it but was physically written by someone else since we
find a common style of writing. What is important to note is that in all
the epistles we do not find mention the name of the writer leaving for the
epistles of Romans. In others we find a mention Paul personally writing the
salutations of every epistle.

What we need to understand was that Paul of the epistles was not a person
but an institution. Paul worked not as an individual but with a team. What
communication we have received from ‘Paul’ came from this team name ‘Paul’.
Paul did lead this team but did not hide the fact it was a team efforts.

The Lord is asking us who are a part of a ministry do we work as a body, as
one team or do we fight to take credit. On the other hand He is also saying
to those who lead the ministry if we give credit to the work done by others
in the ministry or are always promoting ourselves and taking all the
credit. If someone may do even the donkey’s work on being guided by us, let
us not fail to give credit to that person for that work.

Let is learn from the institution named Paul and learn to work as a team.

[Prayer Starter]
Father Lord You are God. You are the Head and You are One, yet Lord You
have lifted up your Son and in Him lifted up your Name so that all may be
drawn to You through Him. Lord we pray we understand to work as one body as
You do and lift each other up as You do...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Romans 16:21-23
21 Timotheus my workfellow, and Lucius, and Jason, and Sosipater, my
kinsmen, salute you.
22 I Tertius, who wrote this epistle, salute you in the Lord.
23 Gaius mine host, and of the whole church, saluteth you. Erastus the
chamberlain of the city saluteth you, and Quartus a brother.

1 Corinthians 16:21 The salutation of me Paul with mine own hand.

2 Thessalonians 3:17 The salutation of Paul with mine own hand, which is
the token in every epistle: so I write.

2 Corinthians 10:9 That I may not seem as if I would terrify you by
letters.

2 Corinthians 10:10 For his letters, say they, are weighty and powerful;
but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible.

2 Corinthians 1:13 For we write none other things unto you, than what ye
read or acknowledge; and I trust ye shall acknowledge even to the end;

2 Corinthians 10:11 Let such an one think this, that, such as we are in
word by letters when we are absent, such will we be also in deed when we
are present.

Ephesians 3:1-4
1 For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles,
2 If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given
me to you-ward:
3 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote
afore in few words,
4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of
Christ)

Seeking another righteousness

Romans 9:31 But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath
not attained to the law of righteousness.

On one of my YouTube videos where the youths of Mumbai did a Gospel
Flashmob, a Hindu person has been discussing about conversion being wrong.
Just 5mins back I saw his response to my comment questioning as to why his
gods carry weapons to kill other gods when they claim that all gods are one
and united in one being. He responded ‘like man needs to defend his life so
also their gods need weapons to defend their lives!’ What people are
seeking is a human like god.

In the verse prior to today’s message we see Paul talks of the Gentiles who
are satisfied with life not comparing their way of life with that of God.
Paul says can we consider their satisfaction as righteousness?

In today’s message we see Paul speaks of Israel following a righteousness
that is not of God. The reason this righteousness is false righteousness or
human righteousness, is the fact this righteousness is gained through human
efforts / works and not by faith. The Israelites / Jews made human laws /
rituals which they felt if they kept they would be considered
righteousness.

We see Christians today still do it and an example of it is Lent. Lent is a
human ritual which people follow to gain human righteousness. They want to
lift themselves before God by the works of the flesh. They claim to
overcome the flesh but their efforts to overcome, is not in the spirit but
in the flesh itself.

Let us not become like the Jews who lost their standing with God. Let us
seek God in Spirit and Truth and not in the works of the flesh or by the
letter.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Spirit and You desire man to seek You in Spirit and in Truth.
We pray Lord we understand works of the flesh will never gain us an inch in
Your Kingdom. We pray we seek the Truth and by our holding on to the Truth
we receive your Righteousness...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Romans 9:30-33
30 What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after
righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which
is of faith.
31 But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not
attained to the law of righteousness.
32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the
works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;
33 As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of
offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

John 18:36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom
were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be
delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

Praying for Israel

Romans 10:2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not
according to knowledge.

Many years back when the Lord made me understand about symbolism in the Old
Testament and why it is called a shadow, I saw people were crazy behind the
people of the country Israel. I heard many a times Preachers asking the
congregation to pray for Israel and the Jews in particular. They would
misquote Psalms 122:6 which said ‘pray for Jerusalem’ and they changed it
to ‘pray for Israel’. What was more disturbing was when I read about the
thoughts of the Jews towards Jesus and Christians; even the Muslims have a
better respect than the Jews do.

Romans is one book where Paul exposes the Jews and their religion. Paul was
a diehard Jew and an extremist, to the extent of justifying violence in the
name of religion. He initially used his Jewish name Saul from his mother’s
side since he thought his Judaism would take him to Heaven, but when the
Lord opened his eyes to the truth he immediately resorted to his Roman name
Paul from his father’s side. He knew as a Jew it was not possible to enter
Heaven not that God hated Jews but Jews had adopted into a religion called
Judaism, this religion spoke about God and also referred to the books of
the Old Testament but did things that were contrary to what the books
commanded of them.

Let me take an instance so that we understand Judaism better. As Indians we
know the belief of Hindus with regards to taking a dip in ‘holy rivers’
like the Ganga where they believe their sins are washed away. The Jews too
have something similar to this; they have what is called Mikveh or Mikvah.
It started with washing of hands and feet and landed with taking bath in a
river or sea. It is only when we understand this ritual we will understand
the incident recorded in John 5:2-9 as to why the man which had an
infirmity thirty and eight years, waited there since a very long period to
get a wash and get healed.

In today’s message we see Paul says the people of Israel due to their
ignorance of God taken on a righteousness that was contrary to the
righteousness of God. Paul having understanding of this danger says he was
praying for the people of Israel.

Are we too called to pray for Israel (Jews)? Yes, but that does not mean we
need to give more priority towards them. We are called to pray for all
those who are lost including people from other countries and religions.
Paul was born amongst them so had a burden for their souls, we who are put
in different countries are called to pray for the lost souls in the country
we are placed in. God has put us where we are for a purpose and let us not
fail the purpose of God.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are all knowing God. Your wisdom is beyond measure. You Lord have
put us in a place with purpose and we pray we take the burden of the souls
which You have put us amongst. We pray for their salvation and that every
soul that is yours may come to know You and we pray their blessings be
quickened and overflow unto others...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Psalms 122:6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love
thee.

Romans 10:1-3
1 Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they
might be saved.
2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according
to knowledge.
3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to
establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the
righteousness of God.

John 5:2-9

Matthew 15:2 Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders?
for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.

Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor
free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

Colossians 3:10,11
10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the
image of him that created him:
11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision,
Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

Doing the work of the Devil

Romans 16: 18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but
their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of
the simple.

Yesterday the Word we received was with regards to those who criticize, be
it good or bad criticism we should take them positively, while discerning
them. Today the Lord is speaking to those who criticize not with a good
intention or without knowledge and understanding.

There are people who love to create problems especially when they see
anything good happening. There are also people who have no knowledge or
spiritual understanding yet like to be the ones who are advising everyone
on every matter. The Lord is telling them they are doing the work of their
father the deceiver that is Satan. Satan the word means accuser. All he
does is create problems by tempting people and then accuse them of falling
to the temptation, he is an inherent deceiver.

Let us discern our words and our actions. Let us not be doing the job of
Satan by advising where we have no knowledge or creating hindrance to
people who are doing work for the Lord’s Kingdom. We may not be gaining
materialistic gains but doing it for the pleasure of our hearts too is
evil.

[Prayer Starter]

Father God You are Love. The world did not know the meaning of love until
You manifested it through your Son. Lord we pray we learn to love others
even if they are our enemies and hate us. We prayer our words and action be
only for edification and if we are not doing it we pray we learn to be
silent...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Bringing down to ground level

2 Corinthians 12:11 I am become a fool in glorying; ye have compelled me:
for I ought to have been commended of you: for in nothing am I behind the
very chiefest apostles, though I be nothing.

Many a times when all things are going excellent and we are skyrocketing at
high speed, suddenly we hit a speed-breaker which rattles us up. In today’s
message we see Paul who was cruising at high speed too hit a speed-breaker
and that really shook him. When Paul though himself to be the greatest
among the Apostles suddenly finds people whom he nurtured spiritually
questioning his root Apostleship.

Any person who is always surrounded by people who praise and glorify, lives
in a dangerous world which will destroy that person. We may hate critics
but let us realize they are a great blessing, since they make us think and
correct ourselves time to time.

Next time someone criticizes you, go and give that person a hug and thank
that person even if he or she means good or bad.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Holy God, You alone are perfect. You Lord desire we too be
perfect in all areas. You Lodr put people in our live who may seem to be a
burden, a problem but we know God You work even through them and cause us
to discern our thoughts and ways so as to bring correction. Lord we pray we
take all criticism positively and give thought to see if they are meaning
good...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

‘End days’ people

Acts 17:13 But when the Jews of Thessalonica had knowledge that the word of
God was preached of Paul at Berea, they came thither also, and stirred up
the people.

Whenever I hear people talking of the end days I immediately look for an
exit so as to ‘end’ my interaction with these people. ‘End days’ is not new
but since pass 2000years is the hot topic of discussion of ‘Christians’.

Christians think he or she is a knowledgeable Christian when they discuss
or give their two bits on the end days. I have seen almost all of these
‘end days’ people lack basics of Christianity. Those who have true
understanding of end days will hardly discuss it. These end-days people
will scream on roof tops half the day about the end being at hand and then
they sleep for the other half so as to get up on the roof again and shout
for the next day. Their lives are not in any way believing the end.

In the NT we find Paul hardly mentions of end-days and discusses it only in
his letters to the Thessalonians. In both his letters to these people we
find the prime topic of discussion is end-days.

In today’s message we find when Paul was ministering to the people of
Berea, people from Thessalonica came. The scripture says their intention
was not good for they came to stir trouble and that is why Paul had to slip
away quietly even thou Silas and Timothy stayed on.

‘End-days’ people in the name of Bible study / discussion people destroy
the faith of others. Because their basics are not in place they land up
redefining the purpose of Christ and thus rob always the salvation of
others. These people may talk of repentance and of being prepared for the
coming of Christ but doing this they take people away from their focus of
doing the Father’s Will.

Imagine if Noah was more worried of the flood coming than of making the
ark, would he have finished his work? Christ has clearly confirmed the end
days will be like the days of Noah, so let us be like Noah and focus on the
work the Lord has given us of saving souls, believing like Noah that the
end will not come until we have finished our work. Let us not delay the end
by being distracted from doing our task. Remember God made this world for
us and not us for this world.

Our last 2 message cumulates to the dangers of these end-days people who in
the name of Christ are doing the work of the devil. These people need to be
taken with caution and kept at a distance. We need not break relationship
with them but avoid getting into discussion with them.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God and all things are known to You for You are omnipresent
God. You alone know the hour of the end but the day / season is mentioned
in your Word only for those with wisdom to understand. Jesus as man and
even Paul did not know the hour but was still aware of the season and the
events that leads to the end. Lord we pray we do not use human wisdom and
be instruments of the devil in destroying the faith and lives of others. We
pray for your wisdom so that we discern the time and season and focus on
the season at hand...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Acts 17:10-14
10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto
Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.
11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received
the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily,
whether those things were so.
12 Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were
Greeks, and of men, not a few.
13 But when the Jews of Thessalonica had knowledge that the word of God
was preached of Paul at Berea, they came thither also, and stirred up the
people.
14 And then immediately the brethren sent away Paul to go as it were to
the sea: but Silas and Timotheus abode there still.

Matthew 24:37-38
37 But as the days of Noe, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and
drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered
into the ark,

Man - Angel - Christ

Galatians 4:14 And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not,
nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, [even as] Christ Jesus.

Fairytales do make impact on our understanding and become shades through
which we see reality. We see this effect largely in Hinduism where due to
their mythological belief, reality is distorted. They even change history
just to accommodate their mythology; people [politicians and
non-historians] sit today to decide what happen hundreds of years back and
rewrite text books. Islam also did this with their books.

In today’s message we see Paul a human puts himself in equation to an Angel
of God and also Jesus Christ, saying the people of Galatians accepted him
as these even though he had faults in him.

When we say Angel we have a concept of a mythical character, many picture
them as females, wearing long white gowns with large wings. When people say
‘spirit being’ they picture ghost a smoke like human figure.. Man is soo
materialistic and worldly everything is pictured in earthly so even the
symbolism in the Bible is taken literally by them.

Jesus said after resurrection we will be like the Angels and this has not
gone into us. In the book of Revelation we see the Angels call us fellow
workers / associates / brethren.

God did not make us humans to remain humans; He made us to be lifted up and
for great things. In Heaven after Judgment Day none will find any relative
or friend or Church member there but we all will have our testimonies.

[Prayer Starter]

Lord You are God and Spirit. You Lord cannot be put in space, time or form
yet your beauty is glorified endlessly in the Heavens. Lord You created us
as spirit beings and put us in this flesh for a purpose. We pray we
understand and fulfill this purpose...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]

Matthew 22:29-30

29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the
scriptures, nor the power of God.

30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage,
but are as the angels of God in heaven.

Revelation 22:8-9

8 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and
seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me
these things.

9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant,
and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of
this book: worship God.

Revelation 22:8-16

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the

It was never 'only Jews'

Ephesians 3: 5, 6 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of
men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the
Spirit; That the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, and of the same body, and
partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:

We see many people have that question which I also had many years back, as
to why God favored/favors the Jews / Israelites. We find people who answer
this by saying ‘if God had chosen any other race, then people would
complain why that race’, this is not the right biblical answer.

Our God is an all knowing God and creator of everything that exist. He is
no respecter of man. For Him all are equal and He loves everyone the same.
The difference comes on how we respond to Him. If we respond more we
receive more and if we respond less we receive less.

Firstly we need to understand when God chose Abraham He said He would make
Abraham a father of ‘MANY NATIONS’ and not just a nation. Paul then goes on
to clarify God did not speak just of Abraham’s natural children but more of
children by faith, those who have faith in his seed ‘Jesus Christ’. God did
give special attention to the Israelites not because they we special but
only because He had promised a Savior to all mankind as coming from within
them. So till Christ came these people were favored but when He came and
they rejected Him, they lost the favor of God and today anyone whoever
accepts Christ as their Savior has the favor of God. They are more
important than the Jews / Israelites in the Kingdom of God.

God is not neither racist nor sexist. He created all and all are loved by
Him, but He knows who will respond to Him, reject darkness and follow His
path of light, these names He has already written in the Book of Life.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Creator of all and God of all. You created this world for a
purpose and that purpose is mankind. You created spirit man put him in
flesh and in this world to be refined and lifted up as worth inheritor of
your Kingdom. Lord we pray we always remember You are impartial, non-racist
and non-sexist God...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

The Sheep and the Shepherd

John 10:15, 16 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I
lay down my life for the sheep. And other sheep I have, which are not of
this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there
shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

There are some things we need to be very clear in our understanding.

Biblically when we use the term ‘flock’ it means sheep and goats too. The
sheep are the true followers while the goats are the ones who believe but
do not follow. On Judgment Day the Lord will separate the sheep from the
goats, the sheep enter Heaven and the goats will receive greater
punishment. They will not suffer their sins but will suffer for rejecting
the truth even after knowing it.

When we use the term Gentiles it does not refer to Heathens. The term
Gentiles was used for the Lord’s people who did things or lived a life
contrary to God’s instructions. The term was used first for the sons
(generation) of Noah. The Hebrew word ‘gooee’ refers to a backsliding
nation. Jesus came for the Gentiles / lost sheep / people who are His and
are far from Him, living their lives in sin. He did not come to the Heathen
even though His invitation is open for everyone. God knows who will and
will not accept Him.

God made everyone but not everyone is His. We all came from Adam and when
God created us (humans) in spirit we are no different from each other, even
male and female have the same spirit but the soul (inner man) of each one
is different.

Our soul / inner man has many characteristics, some we are directly
accountable for and some we inherit from our ancestors. Being Born-again or
being Born from Above refers to renewal of our soul; the nature we receive
from Adam (and our ancestors) being replaced by the nature of Christ. That
does not mean all will become copies of Christ but means the inherited part
or the core root in us will be same (that of Christ) yet our individuality
will still exist.

‘God knows us by name’, does not refer to our earthly names but means this
unique part of our inner-man / soul. It is believed in our life time there
exist at least 8 persons who will look like us. So imagine in all
generations of mankind how many may exist, even our fingerprints are not
unique but only very rare. But when it comes to the uniqueness of our
inner-man, in all generations of mankind there is none like us. When we
lift up the Name of the Lord does not mean the words we use to call Him but
means this uniqueness of Him that we lift up. Bible says the Name of God
was/is in Jesus and He kept/keeps us by the power of this Name. This shows
the oneness between the Father and Son.

If we have come to know the Lord that means we are one of His flock, if we
are sheep or goats depends on we hearing His voice and abiding in it. The
TVM (tense Voice Mood) of the Greek word used for hearing is in active
Voice. That means they will hear/listen to it from within (not just
naturally) and follow the Voice.

Creation awaits these sheep to be gathered and in the later days Bible says
they will be in plenty, once they are all gathered this creation will cease
to exist. None among them will be lost.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God and nothing is hidden from You. You Lord are beyond time,
the past, present and future is the same for You. Lord You chose us for You
know You will take us through all situations and bring us to completion.
What You want of us is only our surrender to You and our obedience to You.
Lord we pray we do not let You go and be counted among the goats instead of
the sheep...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Genesis 10:1-5
1 Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and
Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood.
2 The sons of Japheth; Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal,
and Meshech, and Tiras.
3 And the sons of Gomer; Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah.
4 And the sons of Javan; Elishah, and Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.
5 By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands; every
one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations.

Matthew 25:32-33
32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate
them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left..

Matthew 7:21-24
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the
kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in
heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in
thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many
wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye
that work iniquity.
24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I
will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

Are thou Saint?

Colossians 1:2 To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at
Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord
Jesus Christ.

In today’s message we see Paul addresses the Church of people by splitting
them into two categories, as saints and as faithful. That means a person
who believes in the Lord Jesus Christ is called a faithful; so then who is
a saint?

If we read scriptures (some of them I listed below) we find a saint is not
a person what the world thinks as. The world deems a saint as an extra holy
person (their definition of the term holy itself has a confused definition)
so they put these people just below God. The Catholics pray and worship
them (bowing to or serving their idols/pictures is called worship). Other
religions too worship their ‘saints’ as gods.

In the Bible anyone who believes and serves the Kingdom of God that is
works to do the will of the Father is a saint. It does not have anything to
do with how good or weak that person is. It has nothing to do with the
number of miracles that person has done. It has nothing to do with how much
crowd that person attracts.

Jesus said He came to do the will of the Father and also goes on to define
clearly what the will of the Father is. What is very interesting is He goes
on to say only those who do the will of the Father will enter the Kingdom
of God and not those who simply believe in Him or perform miracles in His
name.

To be saints we need to be people who testify the Lord Jesus Christ unto
others and support their growth in the Lord. If we are people who think our
belief is something like a personal choice and all have a right to have
their own choice then we do not qualify to enter Heaven. When we do this we
declare there are many gods and our God is one among them. So our own
belief is simply falsehood.

It is only when we see others as being lost and destroying their lives into
vanity, do we have the heart to reach out to them and save them by bringing
them to the saving knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. Even the dying thief
by his witnessing Jesus on the cross, till today brings people to the Lord
when they read his testimony.

Let us check if we are saints or just faithful. If we are just faithful,
then time is not lost to reach out to at least one soul unto the saving
knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Holy God. You alone are perfect. You call us to be holy and
walk in the way of perfection even though none of us are perfect. Lord we
pray we understand why Jesus as man said no man is holy, including Himself
as man and You alone are holy. We pray we understand the seriousness of
being a saint and that only saints will enter your Kingdom...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Mark 1:24 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus
of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the
Holy One of God.

Acts 4:30 By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and
wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.

Acts 9:13 Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man,
how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem:

Romans 1:7 To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints:
Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 6:10 For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of
love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to
the saints, and do minister.

Revelation 5:8 And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four
and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them
harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.

Mark 10:18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good [perfect]?
there is none good [perfect] but one, that is, God.

Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter
into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which
is in heaven.

John 6:39 And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all
which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again
at the last day.

Boasting in the flesh

Galatians 6:13 For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the
law; but desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh.

Today is day many start the 40days Lent period. This is not just the
Catholics but even many Protestants also take part is this so called
‘Church Tradition’. The Catholics start this period with a day they call as
‘Ash Wednesday’, on this day their priest puts ash on their foreheads and
says the word 'Remember that you are dust and to dust you will return.' The
words sound good and people feel nice when this is done. The people do not
know the Bible says ‘you are from mud [dust] and to mud [dust] you will
return’ so ideally they should be putting mud and not ash. Christians from
centuries bury the dead and even today they do the same. It was only in
Hindu rituals, that too not long ago that the dead were burnt. So when the
priest uses the word ‘ash’ is he following Hindu or Christian traditions?

People quote scriptures which [seem to] show people repenting by putting
ash. Firstly they need to check it was not repentance but a sign of being
cursed. They would tear their robes, put on rags and ash on their forehead.
This was done when Christ had not come. Now that Christ is with us can we
even dare to do that? Catholics do not realize they are rejecting Christ by
this ritual.

Job put hot ash on his wounds as a relief not as penance [since his skin
was diseased]. He was always proud of his righteousness until the Lord
corrected him.

Coming to fasting for the 40 days period called Lent.

Fasting is not penance, and by starving oneself one does not please God.
Biblical fasting is purely for building faith, it is a personal /private
activity. How one fasts, when one fasts and how long one fasts varies from
person to person and no two person can synchronize this. If they are doing
than it is not fasting but a ritual that they are keeping showing their
religious following.

Jesus fasted 40days not because He lacked faith but for 2 reasons.

The first reason was to become an official Rabbi. One could become a Rabbi
either by following Prophet Samuel’s school of prophets procedure that is
work under another Rabbi for a period (which was a long period) like Saul
/Paul was doing before he encountered Christ. The second option was the
Moses method that is fasting in the wilderness for 40days. We read only
after the 40days fast Jesus started preaching in the synagogues.

The second reason Jesus fasted was that He being strong spiritually He
could not be tempted. Jesus was led by the Spirit to be weakened so that He
could be tempted like us and He could overcome this temptation and show us
how to do so. Jesus went through the same 3 temptations which Adam and Eve
went through. He showed how by holding on the Word we can overcome
temptation.

Fasting is as dangerous and as how beneficial it is. If we fast for the
right reason and in the right manner (fasting does not always mean
depriving oneself of food) it can be a booster to our faith and if done
with religious reasons it can kill our faith making us religious people
under bondages of human rituals.

Today’s message warns us of natural circumcision of the flesh, those who do
it do not keep the law and they drag others into doing it. They destroy
their spiritual life and also the lives of others.

We as Christians are called to do all things with understanding and
anything done without understanding [faith] is sin. God does not instruct
us to do anything without purpose, everything He instructs us is more
spiritual than natural for He desires us to worship Him in Spirit and Truth..

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Spirit. Your Kingdom is not of this world. Everything that is
natural is temporary but that which is spiritual is permanent. Lord we pray
we do all things with spiritual understanding and not in the flesh. We pray
we do not be victims of vanity by seeking things of the flesh and operating
in the flesh...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Matthew 17:21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer [and fasting]
{these word were not part of the older manuscripts but added almost 1000
years later}.

Matthew 15:32 Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have
compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days,
and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they
faint in the way.

Acts 10:30 And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this
hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood
before me in bright clothing,

1 Corinthians 7:5 Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent
for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come
together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.

Matthew 6:16 Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad
countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men
to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

Romans 14:23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth
not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

Distinct Communication

1 Corinthians 14:7 And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe
or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be
known what is piped or harped?

Man is called an intelligent being primarily because man communicates,
stores information and learns from his knowledge and past experiences. Man
is an evolving being that does not mean man evolved from apes like stated
in Darwin’s theory of evolution.

There is a level of evolution which is called micro evolution meaning
creatures evolved within their species like cats evolved into various types
of cats, dogs evolved into various types of dogs, similarly man evolved
into various different races. But cats did not evolve to dogs or deer into
giraffes. There is no macro evolution that is evolution between specie and
another, if that was true than the nearest DNA relative of a human is the
pig and not the ape.

More than man’s naturally evolution was his intellectual and spiritual
evolution. Man’s intellectual ability to remember, recollect information,
churn data and analyze improved from generation to generation and this more
due to his spiritual growth than his natural growth.

In today’s message Paul is telling us we are called to be distinct in our
communication that means be different and yet be clear. If we are
communicating to another human in the natural, than we need to communicate
in worldly means (languages that are understood), if we speak in a foreign
language that is not understood than we become aliens. We need to
communicate in the means which is understood by the people around us or to
whom we are communicating.

God understands the language of faith. When we pray God does not need our
words, He knows our thoughts; we speak actually for ourselves and for those
around us, what we say encourages us and others to build faith. If we are
praying in a language that is not understood by others, it makes no sense
to pray with them, we are well off praying alone.

Praying in Tongues is more spiritually praying than naturally praying.
‘Tongues’ in not a language or a dialect, when the 120 prayed at the
Pentecost event recorded in Acts the 5000 around heard them (collectively)
speak in their own various languages. Praying in Tongues helps overcome our
human intellectual (worldly understanding and mental bondages) it is no
different than natural prayer. It is for those lacking faith and that is
why Jesus Christ Himself never prayed in Tongues but His Spirit does lead
us to pray in Tongues.

It is good to pray in Tongues but if we are praying with others who do not
have the gift to understand Tongues (interpret it - spiritually know what
we are praying) than it does not make sense to pray in Tongues with them.

Let us understand what we do, why we do it and do not do it ritually. Our
God is not a God that promotes rituals but a God who hates rituals. He does
all things with clear understanding.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God of all things. You made all things with understanding that
is why each specie is made in an image. Lord You made man in your image,
even though sin has corrupted this image yet we do have something of You in
us. Lord we pray we do all things with understanding and not be senseless
gongs. Let our prays not be ritualistic but be with understanding as to
whom we are praying to and with whom we are praying with...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Acts 2:3-6
3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat
upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with
other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every
nation under heaven.
6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were
confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.

When I am weak I am strong

tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David
also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:

Today’s message talks of people of great valor, people who fought great
battles and overcame the enemy, people who bought peace to the people and
fear in the hearts of their enemy. But what is common about all these
people is that none of them were competent in any way; some like Barak took
help of a woman (Deborah the Prophetess) and some like Samson and David
made grave mistakes and recovered. Yet we see all of them, because of their
faith and surrender in the Lord overcame fear and shined in the light of
victory. The records of the first 4 are given in the book of Judges and
that of the last two in the books of Samuel.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Almighty God. You Lord are omnipotent and nothing is
impossible for You, yet Lord You wait for us to surrender to You to work in
us and through us, so as to take us to victory. You Lord do not want to
share your glory. You do this so that your Name – Who You are, your values
be lifted us and we know that is no other way but your way of light, for
all other ways lead to darkness...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Eyes set beyond earth

2 Corinthians 4:17,18 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment,
worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we
look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not
seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are
not seen are eternal.

The primary difference between Christianity and others is that others see
things only in micro level while Christianity looks at things at a macro
level not ignoring the micro level. It is because Christianity have a good
view of things at a macro level thus it micro level understanding is
perfect, on the other hand the others not having a macro level
understanding thus land up with distorted micro level understanding. For
example when man did know much about the universe and about planets and
stars, he thought the world was flat and everything evolved around it.

Even if we look at religions like Buddhism or Jainism or any so called
spiritual religions they too are religions that substitute the natural
since their spirits are natural limited meaning a spirit has physical
limitations like space, time and power. This is because they do not have a
basic understanding of spirits that is why even animal spirits according to
them live after the animal dies.

Christianity gives a clear understanding of how God created this world, why
He created this world and thus we know what the end will be. It is with
this understanding that we walk confidently facing every challenge that
comes in our way for the result is known to us.

Persecution has never oppressed Christianity, in fact it has strengthened
it and made is grow for the glory of God has always manifested greater when
God’s people face persecution.

If we are people who fear persecution, it means we do not know Christianity
well and are ignorant of the plans of God. Let us not be ignorant and
fearful but let us be bold people who know our God, know that He Lives and
that He is in control.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God and You alone are God. When Moses and Jacob asked your
name, You said You are Who You Are, for there is none other than You. Lord
we pray we know You and know your plans more and more for Truth alone can
set us free and it is the knowledge of You that gives us power...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
John 18:36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom
were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be
delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

James 2:5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of
this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised
to them that love him?

Philippians 1:21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

Romans 14:8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we
die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the
Lord’s.

Polemics to Apologetics to Charismatics

Acts 18: 4 And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded
the Jews and the Greeks.

If we read verses 1 to 11 of Acts 18 from which we received today’s message
we see different approaches of Christian evangelism. We see in Corinth Paul
was debating with the people in the synagogue every sabbath, and also with
the Jews and the Greeks elsewhere but when Silas and Timothy joined him
Paul was under pressure seeing no fruit of his debates so testifies to the
Jews that Jesus was Christ. When he does that they oppose him even harder
and start to blasphemy God / Christ, to this Paul gives up and moves to
another place near a synagogue. Here God brings the chief ruler of the
synagogue to believe in Him and this news causes many Corinthians to come
to the Lord.

There are different means by which evangelism is done and main among them
is Polemics, Apologetics and Charismatics.

Polemics is when we disapprove the truth (belief) held by another. It
requires a rational approach and is more an attack on the belief of another..

Apologetics is the other side of the same coin and calls for defense of the
belief we hold. It requires us to have sound understanding of our belief.

Charismatic is when God does the answering through the manifestation of the
Gifts of the Holy Spirit. It is more an irrational approach but requires
the person to be spiritually mature and gifted.

All these are basically triggers or ignitions that start the engine of
spiritual walk and none of them keep the person going spiritually forever.
These approaches will be required to be repeated in our lives like Polemics
will help bring down the falsehood which some hold as Christian (i.e.
Seventh Day Adventist who make a day more important than God); Apologetics
when we have questions which we find difficult to answer; Charismatics when
our faith goes down or when impossible problems encounter our lives.

Today we see most evangelists prefer using the charismatic approach but
then because they are not very strong spiritually and grown in the gifts
they have a very low success rates (they are very contented with the few
miracles that happen and conversions that happen). We ideally need to have
a hold of all three methods to evangelize but we also need to understand at
the end it is the personal encounter and revelation that one receives from
God that keeps the person in the Lord. Whatever we do and however much
knowledge and healings we may do they will fail one day or the other, but
then the personal encounter with God and direct revelation from Him is that
which will have the person founded on the solid rock.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Almighty God. You Lord, desire people to come to You by their
own free will, remain in You producing Fruits of the Holy Spirit. You give
us knowledge, wisdom and power but your Word says at the end what works is
your Spirit. Lord we pray we trust more on your Spirit and learn from your
Spirit as how to encounter falsehood and bring them done in the lives of
others and even in our own lives. Lord may we always remember it is You who
adds people into the Body and not us...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Acts 18:1-11
1 After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth;
2 And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from
Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all
Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them.
3 And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought:
for by their occupation they were tentmakers.
4 And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews
and the Greeks.
5 And when Silas and Timotheus were come from Macedonia, Paul was pressed
in the spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus was Christ.
6 And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment,
and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean: from
henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.
7 And he departed thence, and entered into a certain man’s house, named
Justus, one that worshipped God, whose house joined hard to the synagogue.
8 And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with
all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were
baptized.
9 Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but
speak, and hold not thy peace:
10 For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I
have much people in this city.
11 And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God
among them.

Zechariah 4:6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word
of Jehovah unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my
Spirit, saith Jehovah of hosts.

Understanding the emblems of the Lord's table

1 Corinthians 11:23-30
23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you,
That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:
24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is
my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying,
This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink
it, in remembrance of me.
26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the
Lord’s death till he come.
27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the
Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and
drink of that cup.
29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh
damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.
30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

In today’s message we read about Paul recollecting Jesus celebrating the
feast of Unleavened Bread [week] which was on a Sabbath (Saturday) along
with His disciples on the very day in which He was arrested (Paul must have
heard this from one of the twelve).

We as Christians are called to celebrate this event not only during our
collective service which we have weekly but also called to do it even in
our houses when we come together for worship. These are emblems which are
not understood by most and I have yet to come to know of a Church which
does it as it is to be done with its full understanding.

On the regular most congregations use leavened bread and I have seen some
congregation even using tutti frutti buns as the Lord’s bread. The Catholic
Church in 1200AD replaced the bread with a wafer and that to in a shape of
a circle (symbolizing the Sun god) embossed with a pagan symbols on it (the
cross with rounded ends was a Greek symbol for hell - swastika made up of
four Greek gamma letters). The early Jewish Christians also replaced the
unleavened bread with the baked unleavened wafer. Coming to the wine, the
Bible records 5 types of wines and what we use is mostly not the one used
during the Feast of Unleavened Bread (it was plain grape juice - not
diluted or sweetened or fermented).

When I confront Pastors on these emblems, they give excused that we cannot
truly follow the scriptures since it is logistically difficult, so they
prefer changing the emblems as per their convenience. Can I take the flag
of one country and say it is the flag of another? Each flag is designed
with meaning and tailored to that country. The emblems of the Lord’s table
have a meaning and by changing them we lose the meaning and at times mock
them.

Is it difficult to use unleavened Pita bread and canned / boxed natural
grape juice? Do we really know what we are doing when we eat it?

In today’s message Paul highlights one aspect of the emblems that is
symbolizing the Sacrifice of Guilt as noted in the books of Moses
(Leviticus 22:12-16). Breaking and eating this bread gets us forgiveness
for the sins we have done unknowingly. Paul highlights can we come to the
Lord to ask for forgiveness of sins we have done unknowingly when we aware
of the other sins we have done and have not reconciled them? Paul says for
this reason many fall sick and even die.

I remember once I did celebrate the Lord’s table with proper emblems and I
know what happened to those who ate it in an unworthy manner, I would not
risk doing it again without first working on the people.

Let us not make the Lord’s table a ritual but share its emblems with
understanding. Bible says the daily sacrifice was taken away for a period
and now the time is at hand that the sacrifice will be again celebrated
among the Lord’s people.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God and You are Spirit. You Lord hate rituals and traditions
which are like iron bonds to the spirit man. Everything You commanded to be
done in the natural has a meaning and purpose and is not a ritual. Lord we
pray we partake of your table with understanding and not mock it or its
purpose, so as to receive your wrath...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Leviticus 22:12-16
12 And if a priest’s daughter be married unto a stranger, she shall not
eat of the heave-offering of the holy things.
13 But if a priest’s daughter be a widow, or divorced, and have no child,
and be returned unto her father’s house, as in her youth, she shall eat of
her father’s bread: but there shall no stranger eat thereof.
14 And if a man eat of the holy thing unwittingly, then he shall put the
fifth part thereof unto it, and shall give unto the priest the holy thing.
15 And they shall not profane the holy things of the children of Israel,
which they offer unto Jehovah,
16 and so cause them to bear the iniquity that bringeth guilt, when they
eat their holy things: for I am Jehovah who sanctifieth them.

Mark 14:1 Now after two days was the feast of the passover and the
unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they
might take him with subtlety, and kill him:

Luke 22:1 Now the feast of unleavened bread [week] drew nigh, which is
called the Passover [week].

1 Corinthians 5:8 wherefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven,
neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened
bread of sincerity and truth.

Daniel 8:13-14
13 Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that
certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the
daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the
sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?
14 And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then
shall the sanctuary be cleansed.

Giving unto the Lord’s people

2 Corinthians 8:11, 12 Now therefore perform the doing of it; that as
there was a readiness to will, so there may be a performance also out of
that which ye have. For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted
according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.

Last Saturday at the Gideons meeting (an organization I am part of) a
brother shared a testimony which really shook us.

A Pastor from a posh area called this brother stating he wanted to
contribute to the Gideons ministry. This brother knew this Pastor as being
heading a very small and that too on not so rich congregation, not
expecting much he did not commit him an appointment. This Pastor called him
again and again, and this brother thought if he travelled all that distance
(he stayed on the other side of Mumbai), he would spend as much as to what
he would receive so did not go.

One day the Lord ministered unto this brother that even if that Pastor gave
him Rs10, it was the Lord’s money and this brother should go joyfully to
receive it. So he went to meet the Pastor. When he met the Pastor, the
Pastor took him from the posh area unto a slum area which was so dark that
the brother feared he would get lost there. The Pastor led him to a small
house of 10 by 10feet where a woman with her 2 daughters lived. When they
entered they wondered where they would sit. The woman and the Pastor
insisted our brother sit on the bed which could accommodate only one person
comfortably. So our brother sat on it and shared a short devotion. This
sister whose house they went was time and again asking if it was okay now
for her to give what she wanted to give. In the start they told her later,
after the devotion, but then she went on time and again, so much so that
even her Pastor got irritated.

Later she opened a dilapidated cupboard from which she removed 2 large
bundles of 100 rupees notes. When they counted the amount it was about
1lakh! Only God knows how much time she took to collect that amount. A
woman who did not have proper vessels to even serve tea to her guest was
generously giving for the Lord’s work. What she said later was even more
heart touching, she said her parents taught her how to give unto the Lord
and now she was teaching her daughters to do the same.

Today’s message speaks of Paul instructing the Corinth on the importance of
giving unto God and His people.

We need to understand giving is not a choice but a necessity, necessity not
for the person or the cause (concerning God’s Kingdom) which we are giving
to, but we give for our own sake. When we give here, we are actually doing
a transfer to our account in Heaven. Here it is not the amount we give that
is transferred but from what we have that we give, that is multiplied and
transferred into our accounts in Heaven. So what this lady gave was greater
than the millions which a very rich man gives. Our heavenly account is also
credited by the works of faith we do on earth.

Why do we need to collect into our accounts?

The amount will decide where in Heaven we will dwell, for Heaven is not a
flat place. The higher the place in Heaven is nearer to the Throne of God’s
glory. This amount can also be used for our prayer requests while we are
alive, and if we withdraw from this account for others, to bless them, then
this amount gets credited back with interest back into our accounts.

Let us think not about what we have here on earth where we live for a short
time but also think about what we have in our heavenly accounts where we
live our eternal lives. So let us learn to give especially unto the Lord’s
purpose and unto His people.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God who created everything that exist. You made whole planets
that are made of precious material but made it scarce on earth. You Lord do
not need anything yet desire we give unto your Kingdom so that we get
blessed greatly. We pray Lord we learn to give generously unto your
Kingdom...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Mark 4:19 And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches,
and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh
unfruitful.

Mark 10:24 And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus
answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them
that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!

James 5:1-3
1 Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come
upon you.
2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.
3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a
witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have
heaped treasure together for the last days.

Matthew 6:19-20
19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust
doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor
rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

Matthew 19:21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell
that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in
heaven: and come and follow me.

Anti cast, class, race and gender prejudices

Galatians 3: 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor
free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

Many Christians think Jews are God’s people and when you ask them what
about Christians? Are not Christians God’s people? They then go on the
defensive. They quote scriptures from the OT where God called them His
people.

Just last Sunday a brother was discussing with me about Jews and he told me
the Bible asks us to pray from Israel. When I asked him to quote me the
scripture, there was none. He was referring to Psalms 122:6, which tells us
to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. What people did is change the word
Jerusalem to Israel. When I explained the follow of history from Hebrews to
Israel, to the two groups Israel and Judah which later were known as
Samarians and Jews respectively (known by their respective capital cities)
he realized the term Israel was symbolic, a shadow, as the whole Old
Testament is.

Abraham is called the father of the Jews yet he himself was neither
Israelite nor Jew, Abraham was a Hebrew (nomad). We do not read scriptures
where Jacob or Isaac is called father of the Jews, so it was not the
biological factor that was important, it was the promised given to Abraham
that was important. Abraham was not father of a nation but father of many
nations. Paul who used his Jewish name Saul (from his mother’s side) before
he realized this so reverted to his Roman name Paul (from his father’s
side). Paul had not rejected his Jewish roots but realized his roots would
not open a special door to Heaven, only his faith would.

In India just yesterday in the news was a case in the Supreme Court where a
woman of higher caste, married to a man of lower caste was not allowed to
receive the social benefits of a lower caste. The court ruled caste is
birth centric and could not be changed. Hoping someday the child born of
these couple approaches the court inquiring which caste he or she belongs
to and why?

God is God of the whole world, every human irrespective of country, race,
caste, class and even gender belong to Him. Those who rebelled against Him
are deprived of eternal life and they also pay for their sins. Those who
seek peace with Him are the ones who are given the opportunity to eternal
life with Him in Heaven.

The word Jerusalem means - teaching of peace. It symbolizes those who seek
peace with God.
The word Israel means - prince of God. It symbolizes those who have
authority - Sons of God.

They are stages of spiritual growth in the Lord. We need to pray for those
who are at the stage of seeking peace with God (Jerusalem) but not for
those who are fully mature in the Lord (Israel). Praying for Israel would
be as foolish as praying for Jesus Christ! Let us not mix the people of the
country Israel with those whom God transforms into Israel through His
Spirit.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord, You are God of all creation that is in the Heavens, on earth and even
that which is below. You created all things. Even when part of the Angels
rebelled against your plans and caused darkness, You God showed mercy unto
them and gave them time although knowing they would not change. Lord we
pray we do not deny the fact that salvation is only by faith in You by
being classist, racist and gender biased...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Psalms 12:6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love
thee.

Genesis 14:13 And there came one that had escaped, and told Abram the
Hebrew; for he dwelt in the plain of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol,
and brother of Aner: and these were confederate with Abram.

Genesis 17:4 As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt
be a father of many nations.

Matthew 3:9 And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our
father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up
children unto Abraham.

John 8:39-44
39 They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith
unto them, If ye were Abraham’s children, ye would do the works of Abraham.
40 But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I
have heard of God: this did not Abraham.
41 Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born
of fornication; we have one Father, even God.
42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I
proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me..
43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word..
44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will
do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth,
because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of
his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

Grace to overcome

2 Corinthians 11: 5,6 For in my opinion, I am in no way less than the most
important of the Apostles. But though I am rough in my way of talking, I
am not so in knowledge, as we have made clear to all by our acts among you.

We always think why God has not made us perfect in all things. We may find
we may be able to do 99things very well but then there will be that 1 thing
which we will struggle with. But when that 1 thing is of importance then we
start look at God and asking why? This is the position of Paul the great
Apostle.

Paul was known to be a very learned man. He was admired for his knowledge
of scriptures and of the Kingdom of God. But as God gave him abundance
grace in all areas of his life, God held in one area and that area in
Paul’s case was delivery of speech.

Paul was a very bad orator and we see he acknowledges it in today’s
message. It is not only here but we see cases where a person dozed off,
fell from a height and died while hearing Paul’s preaching. Paul did bring
him back to life but then it was one of the times when Paul fought with God
as to why he was not good in that area. Whenever Paul questioned God about
this deficiency (Paul notes as 3 serious times of his life), God told him
that the grace which was given to him was sufficient.

Grace is the most abused word and gift of God by mainly Christians. Most
Christians do not live by grace but live on grace. The term grace itself is
hardly understood. The problem lies in the languages. In Greek the word
Charis translated as grace comes from the root meaning ‘to rejoice’. But as
I pointed out when we need to understand a term from the NT we need to
remember neither Jesus nor His disciples preached in Greek. They preached
in Hebrew and Aramaic. It was when the writings were shared with people
around the world that they felt the need to translate into Greek which was
commonly known. The grammar is well delivered in written Greek but for the
meaning of the terms we still need to go to the Hebrew and Aramaic
languages (in case of Hebrew the pronunciation was also important part of
the grammar – i.e. the word ‘I am’ simply meant ‘I am’ but only by the
pronunciation one would know if it referred to God / ‘I AM’).

In Hebrew the word for grace is ‘chen’ and comes from the word ‘chanan’
which means mercy. So grace simply means all the mercy required for getting
the job done, and mercy beyond the threshold of getting the job done is
termed as favor.

Another set of terms that is greatly confused especially in the NT (Greek)
is the difference between sin and sin nature. We do not inherit the sins
from our forefathers, what we inherit is the sin nature and that is due to
the curse which God put on man in the beginning. It is written the Lord
called all the generations of Adam as Adam. If we understand the Hebrew
word Adam is not a name, for it simply means ‘man’. It became the name of
the first man when God created woman (perfect yet mortal man) and the man
named her Eve. When God called all the generations of Adam as Adam, God set
the nature of Adam into all his generations. It is for this reason we need
to break from the nature of Adam and put on the nature of Christ by the
help of the Holy Spirit to be born-again / born from above.

By our faith in Christ we receive salvation grace means we are saved from
the penalty of our sins (receive all the mercy). We also receive grace in
various areas of our life where we lack as we grow spiritually. But like
Paul we too will face at least one area where we will struggle and that
area God will say to us the mercy / grace He has given us in that area is
sufficient.

We need to understand to break out from the nature of Adam we need to
overcome and for this we need to battle with the Adam nature. If God does
all the overcoming by grace then how are we to be called overcomers?

Let us identify that area of our struggle and be cautioned, for that is our
battle field. Yes we will overcome but for that we need to take the help of
the Holy Spirit and fight it.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God and nothing is impossible for You. If You desire it would
not take You a moment to solve all our problems, yet You make us overcome
them. You Lord do this so that You build us from the inside. By your mercy
You reduce our area of battle and spread the areas of overcoming across all
mankind unlike Christ who overcame all by Himself. Lord we thank You for
being a Merciful God and for all the grace You shower on us...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Genesis 5: 2 Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called
their name Adam, in the day when they were created.

John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have
peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have
overcome the world.

1 John 2:14 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him
that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye
are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the
wicked one.

1 John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is
the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

Revelation 2:7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith
unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of
life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

Playing with Scriptures

Luke 16:16 The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the
kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.

During the time of Jesus and even today the Jews are known to play one book
of a Prophet with another. They would try to justify their misdoings by
(mis)quoting one Prophet against another. This was the means by which they
called themselves righteous.

The term Pharisaios (Greek) and Parash (Hebrew) meant ‘distinct’ or people
who stood out. They were people who wore white robes to show their
righteousness. This righteousness did not mean they were good people or
generous people but meant they were people who fulfilled the law for
example if they gave alms they did so according to the law and not out of
generosity, if they prayed, it was according to the law and not from the
heart.

We today are worse than these Pharisees. Today we use a Prophet against
himself unlike the Jews who used one against another and we manage to do
this because our scriptures are dissected into verses. We (mis)quote a
verse while another verse in the same book speaks against our understanding..

Most of the times when I confront these Christian Pharisees, they will tell
me brother do not complicate the Gospel, the Gospel is simple, written for
the simple man, do not expect them to learn Greek and Hebrew and Aramaic or
learn grammar or history or science etc... They do not want to be corrected..

John the Baptist preached repentance by getting the Jews to be water
baptized. Water baptism was not a concept which John created or initiated.
It was a concept created by the Pharisees for those who are not Jews to
become a Jews or to become a Pharisee. It was seen as a purification
process by them. What John did was tell them as Jews / Pharisees they were
filthy people and they needed to change their way of life, in other words
repent.

In today’s message we see Jesus said until John the Jews knew the words of
the Prophets but never followed it. It was only with the preaching of
repentance by John that we see the Kingdom of God being truly preached.
Jesus also said one could not write off any verse or sentence or even a
word of the Book, for every word will come to past.

Let us understand the importance of studying the Word of God. God will
surely not condemn us or hold us up for what we do not know, but will
surely hold us up for what we know. Let us not try to twist one thing that
we know when we are aware of our understanding is confronted with another
verse from the Bible.

Let us always keep in mind every verse of the Bible has to come to past. If
we are finding a conflict, it is not the verse that conflicts with the
other but our understanding of the verse is that which is at problem.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Righteous and Truth. You are a Holy God. You were, are and
will always be the same. Your Word Lord also was, is and will always be the
same. Lord we pray You forgive us for twisting your Word to justify our
weakness and indirectly making You unrighteous, untrue and unholy. We pray
You open our minds and understanding to scriptures to know them better. We
pray You give us courage and strength to walk in your Word as it is, not
twisting it to justify our weaknesses...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Luke 16:15-17
15 And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men;
but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is
abomination in the sight of God.
16 The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom
of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.
17 And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the
law to fail.

The Prince of Peace brokered peace
Hebrew 7:27 Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up
sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he
did once, when he offered up himself.

Every Priest who made an offering to the Lord not only made the offering
for others but also needed to make an offering for himself since he himself
was not perfect.

Jesus Christ as Savior to mankind because a High Priest and had to make an
offering that is without blemish, that too He need to do it as Son of Man
(100% man). When we say sin people equate it to stain which is wrong. The
Greek word for wash is ‘nipto’ while in Acts 22:16 which talks of washing
away sins uses the word ‘apolouo’ which actually means separating oneself
from living a sinful life (occurs only once in NT).

Paul uses the perfect term for sin and that is corruption. Sin does not
stain us but deforms us, it corrupts us, take away from us. So to overcome
sin or be restored two things needs to be done one get rid of the wrath of
God which causes the person to suffer one’s sin and second restore the
corruption. If both are not done the person is not truly saved.

Punishment of sin is Hell. Hell (prison) came into existence to hold those
who die their natural death and cannot enter Heaven. In Hell the person is
held, there the person suffers his or her sins (the fire is within) until
his or her spirit life ends (which is comparatively earthly thousands of
years).

For restoration from corruption man needed the Holy Spirit of God and
without the Holy Spirit it is impossible for man to be restored
(collectively) and enter Heaven.

The sacrifice of Jesus paid the price for man to receive His Spirit, and
His death and resurrection broke the curse of Hell for all those who
believe in Him and remain in Him (until death). So if a person dies
believing in Jesus Christ, he or she does not go to Hell, but for that
person to go to Heaven that person needs the restoring work of the Holy
Spirit (Holy Spirit baptism).

Jesus Christ is called Prince of Peace and not King of Peace because He
brokered this peace as the humbled being and not as God. He being part of
God, gave up His glory, humbled Himself for us from the beginning of this
creation so that He could broker this deal.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God of the Heavens and your abode is full of your glory. A
part of You Lord gave up your glory, humbled yourself and became man in the
flesh so as to broker peace between man and yourself so that curse of Hell
could be broken and man could receive your Spirit. Holy Spirit it is only
through your working in us that we will enter Heaven. Work in us and
restore us by filling us with your Truth...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Acts 22:16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash
away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter
into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which
is in heaven.

John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be
born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Who gave the Law?

Acts 7:53 Who have received the law by the disposition [ordinance] of
angels, and have not kept it.

When we study the Bible we do so with blinders which are put by
philosophers and theologians who are not truly Spirit filled people. They
may be good Christians but not people who manifested the power and gifts of
the Holy Spirit.

I understand it is not necessary every person needs to manifest the power
and gifts of the Holy Spirit but then the Bible says revelation of the Word
comes from the Holy Spirit, now if we are not getting the revelation of the
Word then what we get is the understanding of man, and understanding of man
is just human philosophy. Human philosophy is good to hear and also pleases
man but does not transform man, it may bring a change which may anytime
revert back but will not bring about a transformation.

There are many scriptures which Christians do not even dare to study or
discuss, like today’s verse where it says the Law was given by the
disposition of the Angels. The Greek word translated as disposition occurs
only twice and the other time is translated as ordinance. It literately
talks of the Law being given to them and then to us, via the various ranks
of Angels.

We know the Law did caused sin to be known for without the Law there would
have been no sin, but then we also know it is only via keeping of the Law
through the power of the Holy Spirit whom we received by grace that we
overcome sin. So if Law is for the overcoming of sin then why did the
Angels need the Law? Do they celebrate the Sabbath? Or do they also covet
another’s wife?

The problem is we neither understand sin nor evil which gave birth to sin.
It was the Law that did not bring sin into existence but exposed it by
exposing evil. Jesus said Satan was a liar and father of lies from the
beginning so did he lie only after the Law was given or did before that? If
it was before then was it not a sin? If the Word was given before then who
delivered it and how?

We know adulterated medicine does not cure and may do more harm than good,
so why do we adulterate the Word of God?

We have tailored the Word of God to fit to our understanding, not desiring
the Holy Spirit to reveal it to us. Let us seek the Word of God and not the
word of man.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord God You are Holy God. Your Word says no being has seen You leaving for
the Son yet throughout the Bible we read the word Elohim. Lord we pray You
reveal yourself more and more to your people so they may understand your
purpose in them...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father it
is your will to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and standeth not
in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he
speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father thereof.

Romans 5:13 for until the law sin was in the world; but sin is not imputed
when there is no law.

Romans 3:20 because by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified in
his sight; for through the law cometh the knowledge of sin.

The Jewish Connection

Acts 23:20 And he said, The Jews have agreed to desire thee that thou
wouldest bring down Paul to morrow into the council, as though they would
enquire somewhat of him more perfectly.

In India the Hindus believe the Brahmins are a special lot of people and
have privileges over other castes, while people like the Dalit are
considered lower than animals. Dalit are not allowed to draw water from the
same well as a Brahmin or pray in the same temple as Brahmins and could be
killed is they did. In ancient days even the Sanskrit language was
exclusive for Brahmins and if a Dalit or any lower caste person was caught
reciting prayers in Sanskrit, his or her tongue would be cut.

In Christianity we do not acknowledge any caste or race system and believe
in equality for the whole mankind, yet we actually place the Jewish people
above all because Bible says they are God’s ‘chosen people’ as if in Heaven
they will have a separate queue to enter!

We need to firstly understand if they were indeed ‘chosen’ by God or they
became His ‘chosen people’. If they were chosen, then what were they chosen
for?

The story starts with Abraham whom the Jews call their father. Abraham was
neither a Jew nor an Israelite, he was a Hebrew. The term Hebrew means
nomad [a man of no country, race or caste]. God made a covenant with a
nomad Abraham to make him a father of many nations. He also was promised a
seed (Jesus Christ) in whom all the nations would be blessed in. Note God
did not speak of one nation but of many nations. It is because of this Paul
realized that God was not for the Jews alone but the whole world, that is
including the Gentiles thus he also wrote by faith in Jesus Christ we
become children of Abraham.

So if we ask what was the reason the Jews were ‘chosen’? The answer is that
the Savior was to come from them.

Christ from day one was the Savior for the whole world even though He came
as a Jew. So if we see from day one the plan of God was to save the whole
world and not the Jews alone. It was an irony that even though the Savior
came as a Jew yet the Jews rejected Him and crucified Him. They were a
stiff neck people from the start and we see in today’s message even after
the death and resurrection of Christ the Jews did not change. Today after
2000 years the story has not changed much, they still consider Jesus Christ
as a false prophet and as burning in Hell in a pot of boiling oil. They
stand more condemned than any other lot of people.

We do have quite a few Jewish people who have accepted Christ and call
themselves as Messianic Jews. But when we see in the book of Acts if a Jew
or a Greek or a person of any race or caste accepted Christ was referred to
simply as Christian brethren. One could only know of their previous details
by their name or by their language or traditions (which some continued and
started the denomination problem).

Let us get it into our hard heads, like there is no Hindu Christian, Muslim
Christian or Zoroastrian Christian or Buddhist Christian similarly there is
no Jewish Christian or Jewish Messianic Christian. But like we can have an
Indian Christian, or British Christian or American Christian similarly we
can have an Israeli Christian, that too referring to their country and not
the race.

Paul wrote we are one in Christ for God is not a respecter of man (race,
caste, class or social position), leave alone these factors even between
genders, God does not differentiate. For Him a Man of God or a Woman of God
is alike. They may be naturally different but inside the spirit has no
gender and is Son of God if the image of God is in them [the word Israel
means ‘Princes of God’ and symbolizes Sons of God].

[Prayer Starter]
Lord, You are God and You alone are God. You are God of all Creations and
all beings that dwell in every Heaven. You are Omnipresent and there is no
place away from You. From day one your eyes were set on all those whom You
have chosen throughout every nation and throughout ages. You knew us even
before we knew You. Lord the Jews were chosen so that the Savior came
through them but we are the more privileged lot since He came for us who
believe. We thank You Lord for choosing us to be your eternal chosen people
who inherit your Kingdom...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Genesis 17:3-8
3 And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying,
4 As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be the
father of a multitude of nations.
5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be
Abraham; for the father of a multitude of nations have I made thee.
6 And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of
thee, and kings shall come out of thee.
7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after
thee throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God
unto thee and to thy seed after thee.
8 And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land of thy
sojournings, all the land of Canaan [not referring to an earthly land but
position lost by the fallen angels in Heaven - the word Canaan means
‘brought down’], for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.

Romans 4:13,16
13 For not through the law was the promise to Abraham or to his seed that
he should be heir of the world, but through the righteousness of faith.
16 For this cause it is of faith, that it may be according to grace; to
the end that the promise may be sure to all the seed; not to that only
which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham, who
is the father of us all

Galatians 3:28 There can be neither Jew nor Greek, there can be neither
bond nor free, there can be no male and female; for ye all are one man in
Christ Jesus.
