Soros family dumps $250,000 on Democrat running for Florida governor
Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung / CCL
Billionaire business magnate and liberal activist George Soros continues to pump millions of dollars into elections across the U.S. in a sophisticated effort to change the social fabric of America.
The Democrat Party megadonor’s latest scheme to turn average, hard-working Americans on to his distinct brand of far-left fringe politics targets Florida, where Soros hopes to exert his influence in the Gubernatorial election.
Soros has just injected major funds into the account of a subservient Tallahassee mayor.
Billionaire buyout
Even without the $250,000 supplied by Soros and his son, Alex, for Mayor Andrew Gillum’s upcoming Florida Governor’s race, the Miami-born democrat owes much of his political and personal fortune to his billionaire backer. Gillum previously worked for the Soros-funded People for the American Way (PAW), where he was annually paid over $130,000, or nearly twice his income as Tallahassee mayor.
Despite promising a local Tallahassee reporter, Andy Alcock, that he would reduce his responsibilities and cut his income in half with PAW if he won the 2014 mayoral election, Gillum instead received a substantial raise from the anti-conservative organization and maintained the second job until 2016.
Public records indicate that Soros and son were the most generous of some 3,500 donors who have given $765,000 to Gillum for use in Florida’s upcoming gubernatorial race. These contributions promise to give Gillum a competitive edge in a state where a Republican candidate last won the election for governor by a margin of fewer than 70,000 votes.
Seated firmly in Soros’ back pocket, Gillum is all but guaranteed to duplicate his billionaire backer’s radical progressive agenda — a political strategy which average Floridians will come to detest if it is fully realized.
“Mayor Gillum created the Young Elected Officials Network ten years ago, and George Soros has been a strong supporter of it,” mayoral communication director Geoff Burgan told Sunshine State News. “Both of them share a common goal: empowering young people to become effective public policymakers.”
Liberal like-mindedness
Yet, the pair of like-minded limousine liberals will share more than a penchant for “developing the next generation of young civic leaders” through the YEO Network if Gillum succeeds this in becoming the first Democrat to win a governor’s race in decades this fall.
Despite opposition from much of Florida’s electorate, Gillum went against state policy by announcing that Tallahassee would become a sanctuary city for Syrian immigrants, and the rising Democrat star authored an essay titled, “How to fight the NRA,” asking his constituents to resist “these bullies everywhere they show up.”
These radical positions check many of Soros’s legislative boxes and explain the handsome donations he offered Gillum as recently as December. In response to the recent uptick in charitable giving, the Republican Governors Association (RGA) wrote, “With his complete lack of regard for Florida election laws, Andrew Gillum has made it increasingly clear he is for himself, Hollywood liberals and far-left billionaires, not Florida families.”
The RGA was referring to an email scandal involving both Soros and Gillum where the mayor used city funds to purchase email servers that he later used to send out campaign emails to voters and donors. Among the list of recipients from this unauthorized server were Soros family members and several Soros-backed foundations.
Soros’ brand of ultra-leftism may take hold in small municipalities and local governments across the U.S. if he is not stopped. His perverse version of multiculturalism was injected just a few years ago into mainstream liberal ideology.
As the Soros-influenced Democrat Party pushes further to the left in response to the billionaire magnate’s will, candidates like Gillum will have a considerable chance at winning elections in all 50 states.
