Herb for Week
Greetings, group! I hope each of you is enjoying God's blessings
today. Well...WINTER has made it's presence known again this week.
Much of our country is suffering with colds and flu. Accordingly,
this week's herb should be interesting and useful. The herb of the
week for colds and flu is ELDERBERRY (Sambucus nigra). Israelites use
elderberry for treating colds, cough and fever. "In 1992 during a flu
epidemic at an Israeli Kibbutz,half of the flu patients were given an
elderberry syrup, the other half a placebo. The results: within 24
hours, 20% of the patients receiving elderberry had gotten
significantly better. Within two days, 75% of the elderberry group was
much improved; within 3 days 90% were completely cured. Among the
placebo group, only 8% of patients improved within 24 hours and it was
a full 6 days before 90% of the patients were cured...." Flu patients
given elderberry recover in half the time as those who received a
placebo.
Allopathic medicine is a fancy word for conventional or traditional
medicine. There is no known cure for colds and flu in allopathic
medicine, but there are PLENTY of good herbal and nutritional things
we can do in alternative medicine.

1. Treating symptoms suppresses your immune system, which is the only
thing you have to help you beat a cold or flu.
2. A symptom is your body's immune system fighting back.
3. A sore throat is a situation that tries to kill the bugs.
4. A fever is hyperthermia; for every degree rise in temperature, your
lymphatic system flows twice as fast.
5. Phlegm and stuffiness are your dead immune cells. They died and now
have to be cleared out of your body.
6. Suppress your symptoms and you suppress your immune system and the
bug wins.
7. At the first sign of a cold or flu....
Increase your vitamin C. For an average sick adult, 15,000 to
20,000 mg is about enough. That is a LOT of vitamin C. Your need for
vitamin C increases dramatically with illness!! If you get diarrhea,
you've taken too much. But it's only diarrhea, and not the end of the
world. Vitamin C is used in large doses in Europe for constipation.
NOW GET SOME REST AND DRINK PLEANTY OF FLUIDS!!
Next you can make some homemade chicken soup. Add lots of garlic and
cayenne. LOTS OF RED PEPPER AND GARLIC AND ONIONS!!! ONIONS AND GARLIC
ARE ANTIVIRAL. RED PEPPER WILL RELIEVE CONGESTION AND STUFFY NOSE.
