El Olam
Week Four, Day Five
The NameEl Olam is the Hebrew name for the God who has no beginning and no end, the God for whom a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years are like a day. His plans stand firm forever, plans to give you a future full of hope. When you pray to the Everlasting God, you are praying to the God whose Son is called the Alpha and the Omega. He is the God whose love endures forever.
Key Scripture
After the treaty had been made at Beersheba, Abimelech and Phicol the commander of his forces returned to the land of the Philistines. Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba, and there he called upon the name of the LORD, the Eternal God. (Genesis 21:32-33)

PROMISES ASSOCIATED WITH GOD'S NAME
Mercurial, temperamental, erratic, inconsistent, indecisive—we can be thankful that none of these terms apply to the Everlasting God or to his plans for us. Here on earth, we sometimes emphasize how definite our plans are by saying they are "set in concrete." By human standards, that's pretty definite. But even concrete, as indestructible as it seems, can be damaged or destroyed by water, chemicals, fire, or freezing temperatures. Nothing in the universe is as solid as God's plans. Scripture tells us that the purposes of his heart stand firm forever. Because of that, we can be confident that when the created world passes away, Jesus will be there to raise us up if we have put our faith in him.PROMISES ASSOCIATED WITH GOD'S NAME
Promises in Scripture
But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations. (Psalm 33:11)
For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. (John 6:40)
Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the LORD is good and his love endures forever his faithfulness continues through all generations. (Psalm 100:4-5)
Continued Prayer and Praise
Praise the Everlasting God and his Son Jesus. (Revelation 1:4-8) Thank God for his everlasting love. (Psalm 100) Praise the Eternal God, who knows our limitations. (Psalm 103:13-18) Realize that God's promises will never fail us. (Psalm 145:13-14)
