INDONESIA: Community Pressure Causes Church Closure

The state of religious freedom in Indonesia was brought again into the spotlight when local authorities broke up a Sunday service at the Indonesian Pentecostal Church in the province of Riau on August 25th.

The church had been meeting in a building that also served as the pastor's home since 2014. This congregation faced opposition, however, from some neighbours. A letter was sent to the church on August 7th, banning them from conducting any religious activities inside the home. Under a 2006 decree, religious buildings require the approval of community members. While passed in the name of religious harmony, this law has created significant problems for Christians and other minority religious groups.

In response to the letter forbidding the church members from meeting inside the home, the church set up a tent next to the building for worship services. In the middle of a recently held service, police entered and demanded that it stop immediately. Pastor Damianus Sinaga protested that they were praying, but an officer refused to relent. Video footage shows one woman passionately pleading with police: "Help us, we are just trying to pray and worship our God. We are Indonesian citizens, where are our rights?"

After news of the incident was released on social media -- including video footage -- a meeting was held on August 28th. The outcome of that meeting mandates that these Christians travel eight kilometres to the nearest established church building in order to worship.

INDIA: Released After Ten Years

Bijaya Kumar Sanaseth was convicted of the murder of a popular Hindu swami in 2008, along with six other Christians. The conviction came despite claims of responsibility by Maoist rebels. In a July 27th decision, India's Supreme Court ordered Bijaya's release, just months after another one of the accused believers, Gornath Chalanseth, was likewise freed on bail. (See the previously posted report.)

Bijaya recounts the many years of separation his family experienced due to the lengthy imprisonment: "My six children were very young, with my youngest child, a girl, being one year old, and my oldest, a boy, was nine years old. Today the youngest is 12 and my oldest is 20. Nobody can give me back the years that I have lost." Since the Supreme Court had ordered his release on bail, Bijaya will not need to return unless the high court itself orders it.

Praise God for the release of these two wrongly convicted men. Please remember the other five Christians who are still unjustly imprisoned for this crime, interceding for their release as well. Pray for Bijaya's adjustment to life outside the prison, and for the re-establishment of his family relationships. May justice and restoration take place in the lives of each prisoner related to this case, and their families, even these many years later.
NIGERIA: Government Assures Leah Sharibu is Alive

More than a month ago, rumours began to spread that Leah Sharibu, a Christian teen who was kidnapped in February 2018, had been killed. At the time of that report, questions were raised about its accuracy. On August 31st, a presidential aide met with reporters, stating that Leah is still alive and that the government is working to negotiate her release. "The government is committed to her safe return, as well as all the other hostages," he assured.

Leah was kidnapped by Boko Haram terrorists, along with over a hundred other students from a school in Dapchi (see this report). While the others were released, Leah was singled out because of her Christian faith. The militants refused to release her unless she denied Christ, which she refuses to do.

JERRY MILLER杰瑞 米勒 GOSSIP造谣 The Hebrew word translated “gossip” in the Old Testament is defined as “one who reveals secrets, one who goes about as a talebearer or scandal-monger.” A gossiper is a person who has privileged information about people and proceeds to reveal that information to those who have no business knowing it. Gossip is distinguished from sharing information in two ways:

In the book of Romans, Paul reveals the sinful nature and lawlessness of mankind, stating how God poured out His wrath on those who rejected His laws. Because they had turned away from God's instruction and guidance, He gave them over to their sinful natures. The list of sins includes gossips and slanderers (Romans 1:29-32). We see from this passage how serious the sin of gossip is and that it characterizes those who are under God’s wrath.

Another group who were (and still are today) known for indulging in gossip is widows. By no means is this true of all widows and probably fewer than back Paul cautions widows against entertaining the habit of gossip and of being idle. These women are described as “gossips and busybodies, saying things they ought not to” (1 Timothy 5:12-13). Because women tend to spend a lot of time in each other's homes and work closely with other women, they hear and observe situations which can become distorted, especially when repeated over and over. Paul states that widows get into the habit of going from home to home, looking for something to occupy their idleness. Idle hands are the devil's workshop, and God cautions against allowing idleness to enter our lives. “A gossip betrays a confidence; so avoid a man [or woman] who talks too much” (Proverbs 20:19).

And when such people are confronted, they deny the allegations and answer with excuses and rationalizations. Rather than admit wrongdoing, they blame someone else or attempt to minimize the seriousness of the sin. “A fool's mouth is his undoing, and his lips are a snare to his soul. The words of a gossip are like choice morsels; they go down to a man's inmost parts” (Proverbs 18:7-8).

Those who guard their tongues keep themselves from calamity (Proverbs 21:23). So we must guard our tongues and refrain from the sinful act of gossip. If we surrender our natural desires to the Lord, He will help us to remain righteous. May we all follow the Bible’s teaching on gossip by keeping our mouths shut unless it is necessary and appropriate to speak.“谨守口与舌的，就保守自己免受灾难”（箴言书21:23）。所以我们应当谨守我们的口舌，避免造谣的罪。如果我们把自己的天性欲望交托给上帝，他就会帮助我们保持公义之心。愿我们都能遵守圣经上关于造谣的教训，紧闭我们的口，只说必要和合适的话。

Shame on Modern Churches

可耻的现代教会

Sadly, twenty-first century Western churches are reluctant to teach about Hell. Pastors believe such teaching is cold and unloving, and does not represent the “loving” Jesus unbelievers want to hear about.

非常遗憾的是，二十一世纪的西方教会不愿意教导有关地狱的真理。有些牧师认为这样的教导既冷酷又无情，而且他们认为这样的教导无法代表那个非信徒想要听到的有所谓“爱心”的耶稣。

This is tragic. Jesus teaches more about Hell than anyone in the Bible. Of 13 references to “hell” in the New Testament, 11 are from Jesus, making Him THE source of our comprehension of Hell. Matthew 23:33 is particularly “unloving.” Jesus castigates the hypocritical Jewish leaders of His day this way: “You serpents, you brood of vipers, how will you escape the sentence of hell?” How many preachers have you heard take on that verse?

The Old Testament and Hell

旧约与地狱

The Old Testament gives us a cloudy view of the afterlife. Depending on what version of the Bible you read, the destiny for departed souls is called “Sheol” or “the grave.” These terms are used 65 times in the O.T., and, generally speaking, mean the abode, or place, of the dead. In some cases, these terms refer to the body in its decaying form, but in far more instances as the soul in its conscious afterlife.

“Sheol,” or “the grave,” is always used in a bad way and usually as place of separation from God:

Lacking in the Old Testament is a comprehensive understanding of the destiny of the righteous (which is the subject of another post). It seems to be the understanding of the O.T. writers that Sheol is the afterlife’s only destination, and that there is nothing good about it.

关于义人的归宿，旧约并没有提供一份整全的看法 (有关这个问题将在其它文章中详尽讨论)。对旧约的作者来讲，地狱似乎是人死后唯一的去处，并且那里绝对不是一个好地方。

Jesus and Hell

Jesus’ first biblical reference to Hell is found in Matthew 5:22, during His Sermon on the Mount: “But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be guilty before the court; and whoever says to his brother, ‘You good-for-nothing,’ shall be guilty before the supreme court; and whoever says, ‘You fool,’ shall be guilty enough to go into the fiery hell.”

主耶稣第一次提到地狱的经文作为登山宝训的一个部分记载在《马太福音》5:22节。“只是我告诉你们，凡向弟兄动怒的，难免受审判。凡骂弟兄是拉加的，难免公会的审断。凡骂弟兄是魔利的，难免地狱的火。”（译者注：“拉加”就是一无是处、“魔利”就是笨蛋的意思。）

Notice how Jesus just blurts out this truth regarding Hell without explanation, indicating that His Jewish audience understands what He means. The English word “hell” comes from the Greek word “Gehenna,” which comes from the Hebrew word “Hinnom.”

The Hinnom Valley, located southwest of Jerusalem, is the place where Israeli Kings Ahaz (2 Chronicles 28:3) and Manasseh (2 Chronicles 33:6) sanctioned human sacrifices. By the time of Jesus, this despicable piece of real estate had been turned into a garbage dump where fires burned continually, and where the bodies of executed criminals were burned up, prompting Jesus to use “Gehenna” as a fitting symbol of eternal fire and judgment.

It is also important to understand that the Hell Jesus teaches is a place of permanent damnation. Jesus tells us that Hell is a place of “unquenchable fire” (Matthew 3:12); “eternal fire” (Matthew 25:41); “eternal punishment” (Matthew 25:46); and, in His parable about Lazarus and the rich man, a place of ongoing “agony in this fire” (Luke 16:24).

Why Teaching Hell is Crucial

There can be no hedging in explaining the truth about Hell to those we share the Gospel with. What if you had the opportunity to speak to a superstar? What if you were given 20 minutes with Brad Pitt, Bono, LeBron James, Beyoncé, Bill Gates, or Oprah Winfrey? What if they listened to everything you said and replied, “Jesus may be fine for you, but what does He do for me? I have everything I want right now, why do I need Him?”

This is an appropriate question. Why indeed would they need Jesus? You can reply, “Because those who reject Jesus go to Hell when their lives on earth are over.” Even if they accept the notion of Hell, there is no way they can fathom what it actually is. It is not the domain of Satan – as too many people erroneously believe – but rather the place “which has been prepared for the devil and his angels” (Mathew 25:41). In other words, Satan is every bit a prisoner of Hell as any other being.

People must know this. They must know what Hell is, who goes there, and that there is no escaping Hell once there. People must know that no matter how successful they are here on earth, they will die, and if they do so without having accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, Hell is their destiny.

Thanks for praying for China, on October 1 it is National day, This year is the 70th Anniversary of the founding of modern China, it needs much prayer
We would like to make it a National day of Prayer for China, which  I hope will become an annual thing, and so I will  be sending a special battle battle stations with specific prayer requests for China, but to have any effect, we need to have people praying. I am believing for 100 churches to join us and 100 individuals to join us

Exceptional Sin Romans 8:1-18

Text: "There is therefore, no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus (i.e. born gain), who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.."

Romans 8:1.
Good morning, Spirit-led Christian!  For you, sin is exceptional, not acceptable! Many professors might try to excuse sin in their lives by putting it down to human fallibility - but not you.  Being led by the Spirit to walk in the Spirit, you see sin clearly for what it is, and strive therefore to confess it and forsake it.  Basically, this is what is meant by walking after the Spirit as opposed to walking after the flesh. (Galatians 5:16-25)

To strive to walk after the Spirit does not mean that the Christian thus striving is free from sin.  There has only ever been, and unfortunately ever shall be, one Man who has lived a completely sinless life.  That Person is, of course, God the Son - the risen Lord Jesus Christ.  Hallelujah!  Praise His Holy Name!  Amen.  (Hebrew 4:15) (1 Peter 2:21-22) (Romans 3:10)
Thus, everybody else, no matter how well respected; no matter how high a position in the church; no matter how seemingly righteous that person may be - have sinned; sin; and shall sin all the days of their earthly lives.  We are all natural born sinners. (Psalm 51:5) (Isaiah 64:6)
However, although we are indeed NATURALLY born sinners, we can walk SUPERNATURALLY in the Spirit, because we are born again of God Himself, according to His own perfect will. (John 15:16)
Only the Lord God Himself can look into our human hearts and examine our hidden motivations for deeds done.  Only He can tell at times whether or not we do ‘good deeds’ for His glory, or just to glorify ourselves in the sight of other people.  Oh yes, beloved Christian, we each sin daily in some personal manner.  (1 Samuel 16:7) (1 John 1:8)
The difference therefore, between someone walking after the flesh, and someone walking after the Spirit is the fact that sin for the Spiritual person becomes the EXCEPTION rather than the natural daily PRACTICE!
On the other hand, the carnal (unsaved) person sins with impunity as a natural daily practice. As our passage for today reveals, there is a terrible difference between the carnal person and the Spiritual.  It is the difference between being, in metaphorical terms, a pig or a sheep.  Both will wander wilfully into the mud, but while the pig will wallow in it with impunity, the sheep will always bleat to be pulled out and washed afresh.
 Whatever a person is - at the calling away of the soul in death, or the appearing of the Lord when He returns - this is what determines where the eternal soul/spirit of that person shall eventually reside - Heaven or Hell.  That’s the Gospel truth!   (John 8:32)
The above seemingly harsh truth is verified by our selected Bible passage for this evening - there is NO CONDEMNATION to them who are in Christ Jesus.  How do we KNOW we are in Christ Jesus?  Our Bibles tell us so!  And, our daily experience of life proves the fact of our Salvation to us when we walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit, to the very best of our God-empowered abilities.  (Acts 1:8)
It is the difference between knowing we have passed from CONDEMNATION to COMMENDATION when we, daily, as a normal practice, endeavour to walk in obedience to God the Spirit’s instructions - as found in our precious Bibles.  (John 17:17)
If, however, we find we have no desire to walk in Spiritual newness of life, then we prove to ourselves that we are yet in our sins, unsaved, unregenerate, and as a direct consequence, still utterly LOST.
Thus we see that sin for the truly saved person, (when personal Salvation occurs) is forever after the exceptional failing, and not the normal practice.  What, therefore, does YOUR sin mean to you?
Thought:  Make sin the rare exception, not a self-deception!

A recent wave of raids against Christians has taken place, with at least 150 arrested in the past two months. On June 23rd, 70 members of the Faith Mission Church of Christ in Keren were arrested (see this report). The believers were taken to the Ashufera prison which, according to reports, consists of a series of tunnels in a remote area outside of the city. Prisoners there are forced to dig more tunnels when additional space is needed.

ERITREA: Security officers raided the Faith Missions Church in Eritrea' s second largest city of Keren on June 23...

Also in Keren, six Christian government employees were taken to court on August 16th where the judge ordered them to renounce their faith. All six refused, saying they would not "negotiate their faith." Two days later, 80 more Christians were detained by security officials in Godayef, an area near the Asmara airport. Those detained had been taken to a police station where they were still being held at last report. Pastor Alfrery Líctor Cruz Canseco was waiting in his car following a church service on August 18th when he was shot without warning at point-blank range. The attacker attempted to escape, but members of the congregation were able to capture the gunman and hand him over to authorities. Unfortunately, Pastor Alfrery died while being transported to the local hospital.

Pastor Alfrery was the leader of the Fraternidad Cristiana church in the town of Tlalixtac de Cabrera in Oaxaca state. The motive behind the attack remains unknown. However, this killing comes amidst a series of attacks on religious leaders, often by criminal gangs. More details on the challenges encountered by Christians in southern Mexico, including previously posted reports, can bereviewed here.

Please remember to lift up Pastor Alfrery' s wife, Rosita, and their children during this time of shock and grief. May his family, friends, and congregation find comfort in the knowledge that this beloved spiritual leader is now in the wonderful presence of his Saviour and Lord whom he so diligently served. Pray that the pastor's attacker will be confronted by the Holy Spirit for his sinful action and, as a result, come to a place of repentance and forgiveness in Christ.

Initial reports indicated a combined hearing for three related long-standing cases, each involving a member of the same family.
The first case involves Pastor Victor bet Tamraz, along with two Christian converts, Amin Nader Afshari and Kevian Fallah Mohammadi. The three were arrested during a Christmas celebration in 2014 and each received sentences of ten years (read more).
Pastor Victor's wife, Shamiram Isavi Khabizeh, was sentenced in January 2018 to five years in prison for allegedly "acting against national security and against the regime by organizing small groups, attending a seminary abroad, and training church leaders and pastors to act as spies." Their son, Ramiel, was arrested along with four converts during a picnic in August 2016 (see this report). Although Ramiel only received a four-month sentence, it left him with a criminal record, leading to this appeal.
While it appeared the appeal hearing would be for all those involved, only Kevian and Shamiram received a summons to appear as of August 29th. The family is disappointed that the other appeals have been delayed but believe it is intended to pressure the family to leave Iran.
Pray that the upcoming appeals will be successful and that all charges against the accused Christians will be dropped, in hopes the appeals of the others will be heard soon. As these faithful believers seek to serve Christ, whether in prison or elsewhere, may they receive ongoing encouragement, peace, patience and strength. In addition, please remember the many other Christians throughout Iran who are continuing to share the Gospel message despite the opposition they encounter on a regular basis.

Welcome to battle stations
Thanks for your prayers for our little church here in China, it's the height of summer.. phew
So what does that mean, well that means we are nearly back to school,for us teachers, please first of all pray for me as we seek to get pupils, please pray God would bring the right ones and we would be able to share the gospel as well as teach them English. Also pray for H and L as they return to school, that they wouldn't have too many lessons, so they can concentrate on serving God
Please pray that all church members would have a real touch from God as they return from travelling and that they would be focused on sharing the gospel and serving God
Please pray for Pastor Z, his wife S is ill so please pray for her
Please pray for our church workers Z, S and S, seminary students
Please pray for leaders H, L, S, P and Z, all women please pray for more men to come forward
Please pray for J, her husband in hospital with heart problems
Please pray that all these people would meet the living God, they don't need a church experience, they need a God experience

Despite assurances that freedom of religion is guaranteed, various statements from Georgia' s ruling party, along with those from the State Agency for Religious Issues (SARI), indicate that a restrictive religion law may be in the works for the nation of Georgia. Many religious groups strongly oppose such legislation which would mandate government registration of their faith communities.

The government agency, SARI, has long awaited a religion law to help control religious issues in the country. A primary concern expressed by those from non-traditional faith groups is the lack of clarification regarding the requirements of the new law.

Over the years, the Georgian Orthodox Church has retained special status within the country. Its spokesperson, Archpriest Jaghmaidze, suggests one criterion for registration could be mandating "some kind of cultural and historical heritage," which would restrict new religious communities from entering the country. Further concerns were raised when he spoke of other religious groups having "anti-state activities or positions."

Overall, many proponents of the new religion law consider its implementation a means of restricting other faith groups from registering as a religious community. In contrast, Pastor Guram Imerlishvili argues that the law should instead be focussing on the punishment of hate crimes and the enforcement of existing legislation, rather than creating categories that will distinguish non-traditional religions from those that are traditional.

While such legislation is only at the stage of deliberation, pray that Georgia' s governmental agencies and representatives will fairly consider all sides of the discussion. Pray that freedom of religion will continue being made available to all, without partiality. Ask the Lord to guide the words of those who are seeking to raise their concerns. Despite the present religion law debate, may there be an ongoing spread of the Gospel throughout the nation.

On August 4th, a student from the Evangelism Training College was leading a worship service at a home in the village of Mahiyanganaya. As the meeting concluded, a group of opposing villagers led by three Buddhist monks stood outside, demanding to speak with him. After questioning the worship leader about his religious activities, they began to physically assault him, demanding that he leave the village immediately. As a result, the young man suffered injuries to his head, stomach and spine.

To escape the attack, the injured theology student managed to ride his motorcycle 180 kilometres back to the college, where he was then taken to hospital for treatment. After his release two days later, a police report was filed.

Asiri Perera, head of the Methodist Church in Sri Lanka, shared the following message on social media: "I assure all Buddhists of Sri Lanka that we Christians will remain calm and peaceful in the midst of the persecution we face today in Sri Lanka. CHINA: Human Rights Lawyer Still Missing After Two Years

Gao Zhisheng, a prominent human rights lawyer, has personally experienced persecution for many years. The Voice of the Martyrs Canada has been reporting on Gao's case since his initial arrest in 2006. Since then, he has been released and re-arrested numerous times, often disappearing to undisclosed locations at the hands of the authorities.

When Gao had gone missing on August 13th, 2017, family and friends had assumed he had been apprehended by the authorities again. Yet, in reality, two of his supporters had smuggled him out of the province in an attempt to free him from house arrest and keep him safe. After three weeks of intensive searching, the authorities managed to locate him, and Gao has not been seen nor heard from since. There have been rumours of his location, but no one was able to verify them.

Chinese law dictates that it is illegal to detain a prisoner for more than six months without a charge. Yet, over the past two years, Gao has been unable to consult with lawyers, and his loved ones still do not know where he is being held.

In the time leading up to his latest disappearance, Gao secretly penned a book describing his sufferings. In the book, the human rights lawyer reveals how he came to faith while being imprisoned for defending Pastor Cai Zhuohua back in 2004 and 2005. His book, Unwavering Convictions, which was smuggled out of China and translated into English, is now available for purchase.

May God's Spirit continue to wonderfully minister to Gao, wherever he may be located. May this imprisoned believer know with full assurance that his Heavenly Father's "everlasting arms" are supporting him (Deuteronomy 33:27) and that many fellow believers are praying for his eventual release. Lift up in prayer Gao's family and friends as they struggle with the resulting pain and uncertainty of his undisclosed location. Additionally, pray that God will mightily intervene not only on behalf of Gao, but for all of China's other persecuted and incarcerated Christians as well.

Please pray for our small church, we meet in 3-4 homes, please pray for protection upon as we meet. Please pray for our two young co-workers Z and J, young men in their early 20's. 
Please pray for Pastor Z, he was called in to talk to city officials and senior police officer and told to scatter his church, this interview lasted 5-6 hours. He is prepared to give his life for his faith, please pray for this courageous man, his wife Pastor S, Son of 21 who is preacher and young daughter of 7
The gospel is difficult to share, please pray for opportunities for us one to one. Pray that we would be able to give an answer to everyone that asks for the reason of the hope within us
Please pray for our young people, many children even at young ages are forced to accept humanism and evolution as fact, please pray for the breaking of this bondage

The Wednesday Word: What does this mean? Scripture Alone (Sola Scriptura)
 “We’re not just dogmatic about this, we’re bulldog-matic. Sola Scripture (Scripture alone) is a non-negotiable” (Dr. Steven Lawson).
The teaching of Scripture alone refers to the sufficiency of Scripture as our supreme authority in all matters of faith and practice.
 Sola Scriptura was another great rallying cry of the Reformation. For centuries the Papal Communion had declared its traditions to be superior in authority to the Bible. This resulted in many practices that were horribly contradictory to the Scripture. For examplePrayer to the saints,Prayer to Mary,The Immaculate Conception,Transubstantiation,Baptismal regeneration,The supremacy and authority of the Pope.
The Bible alone is our ultimate authority—not the Pope, not traditions, not church councils, not subjective feelings, but Scripture alone. Therefore, if any teachings differ from Scripture, they are to be judged by the Bible and rejected, rather than vice versa.
The Bible is the final authority, that’s what we mean by Sola Scriptura.
The Reformers believed the Bible to be their final authority. Likewise, we believe that it is the final court of appeal on all doctrinal and moral matters. All Popes and Councils are fallible. The Bible alone is infallible. At the Diet of Worms (AD 1521), when called on to renounce his supposed errors. Martin Luther replied,"Unless I am convinced by testimonies of Scripture or by evident reason ..for I believe neither the Pope nor Councils alone since it is established that they have often erred and contradicted themselves-I am the prisoner of the Scriptures cited by me, and my conscience has been taken captive by the Word of God. Here I stand. I can do no other. God help me. Amen."”This is Sola Scriptura.
Our opponents, however, insist that the Bible nowhere teaches Sola Scriptura.  This is nonsense! Although no one verse declares Sola Scriptura, the Bible clearly states “All scripture is given by inspiration of God … 2 Timothy 3:16-17.
The Greek word for "inspired" describes ships sails filled, being carried along over the seas. Our scriptures are quite literally God breathed!
Since God is the author of the Scriptures, we can be confident that any teaching which is at variance with the truth of His Word is wrong. This is Sola Scriptura.
Every Scripture is the product of the Spirit’s work. He inspired the Bible writers and gave them His words. And even though God's Word and the scribe’s personality were in some way intertwined, every Word came from God Himself. This is Sola Scriptura.
 We must, therefore, either recognize the divine origin of the Bible or deny it.  However, if we deny the Bible as being the very Word of God, we deny the fact that what the Bible says, God says. We will then eventually deny the reliability of the glorious promises of the Word and will soon deny salvation by grace alone and other precious truths.  We will then be like a rudderless ship on its way to disaster.
Jesus held to the authority of Scripture.
Finally, let us look to the Master. He was a man of the Scriptures.  Three times, in the wilderness, He was tempted by the Devil, and each time He boldly replied "IT IS WRITTEN" (Matthew 4:1-11).
Also, consider these sayings of His;
“And Jesus answering said unto them, “Do ye not therefore err because you know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?” (Mark 12:24).
"The Son of Man is to go, just as it is written of Him" (Matthew 26:24)
“Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes?” Matthew 21:42
"You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify of Me” (John 5:39)
“But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?” (Matthew 26:54)
“And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself” (Luke 24:27)..
Jesus believed in the authority of Scripture.So do I!
And that’s the Gospel Truth!

More Than 140 Arrested

As Eritrea begins week-long celebrations leading up to their Independence Day on May 24th, efforts to prevent any sign of dissent have resulted in the detainment of more than 140 Christians. The arrests happened at a private gathering in the Mai Temenai area of Asmara on May 17th. Of those arrested, 14 were children.

Some of the detained Christians are believed to be in the Adi Abeito prison; others are still being held by police. Eritrea is ruled by a one-party dictatorship, and its human rights record is among the worst in the world. With recent protests in neighbouring Sudan bringing down the government, security has been strong on the streets of Eritrea to ensure no similar situation happens there. Contacts in the country say that the streets are filled with police and secret police agents to deter any demonstrations.

In further action to prevent protests, Internet access has also been shut down in the country. With only about one percent of the population having Internet access, the prevalence of social media is minimal.

When a peace agreement with Ethiopia was reached in July 2018, it was hoped that conditions might improve in this oppressive nation. However, there has been no progress in human rights seen by international observers. Please pray for the many Christians facing oppression throughout Eritrea. Ask God to sustain and strengthen the hundreds being detained for their faith, along with those involved in this most recent incident. May He also work in the lives of President Afwerki and other government leaders, so that they too would come to a saving faith in Jesus Christ and respect the freedoms of their people.

Assaulted Pastor Recovering from Trauma

More than a month after Pastor Dhurba Kumar Pariyar was attacked by Maoist rebels, he remains in pain and faces mental trauma. Despite that, he has found strength in the Scriptures, as well as the testimonies of others who have suffered for their faith.

Pastor Dhurba was riding a motorcycle on his way back from distributing toys and supplies to poor children when he was stopped by two other motorcyclists. After confirming his identity, the pastor was pulled off and dragged towards the jungle. The attackers accused him of preaching a foreign religion and bribing people to convert. While beating him, they threatened his life if he did not hand over any American money that was with him at the scene.. The men fled when a vehicle passed by and the headlights fell on them.

The injured pastor was released after receiving treatment in hospital. Although a police report was filed, at last indication, the perpetrators had not been found. Pastor Dhurba and his wife, who are the parents of a five-year-old son, have served the Devotees Nepali Assembly in Kathmandu since 2011..

In October 2017, a bill was passed restricting religious conversion and instituting fines for anyone found to be involved in converting others. The law came into effect during August 2018 and, since that time, there has been an apparent increase in the overall persecution of Christians. Pray for Pastor Dhurba's complete healing from both the physical and emotional wounds, asking God to continue providing great comfort through His Word and the encouragement of fellow believers. Remember others in Nepal who are courageously ministering in the name of Christ to those needing spiritual and humanitarian help. May the perpetrators responsible for this attack be held accountable, so they will be convicted of their wrongdoing --  in hopes of them coming to repentance and faith in God through the testimony of faithful Christians.

Multiple Attacks Against Christians

On April 28th, a church in Sirgadji was attacked by armed assailants who pulled six Christians, including a pastor, behind the building and then shot them. (For more information about this situation, see our previous report.) Since then, the violence has continued, with at least two more deadly attacks taking place during church gatherings.

On May 12th, gunmen stormed a church in Dablo. Surrounding the congregants, the perpetrators shot and killed six of those who had attempted to flee, including a church leader, before torching the building and looting nearby stores. The next day, unidentified assailants stopped a religious procession in the town of Singa. The armed men allowed children to leave before killing four adults.

Attacks in this land-locked nation come at a time when the country' s leaders, along with those of surrounding nations, struggle with increasing violence from Islamic militant groups, including the Fulani herdsmen who have been responsible for much of the recently reported violence in nearby Nigeria.

Please prayerfully uphold the grieving families, friends, and fellow congregants of those killed during these recent attacks. Pray that the country' s governmental leaders will be successful in curbing the violence so that believers in Christ can freely worship without any further risk of opposition or life-threatening danger.

The Wednesday Word - What does that mean? 
Soli Deo Gloria
  Glory to God alone Romans 11:36
  Soli Deo Gloria was one of the five mighty battle cries of the Reformation. It means that we, in all matters, are called to Glorify God alone.
 But what does ‘To Glorify’ mean?
 It means simply to honour and praise the Lord alone. To Him alone belongs magnificence, excellence, pre-eminence, and dignity. We are called to worship Him. And why not?  He is God after all.
 No man can take credit for what Yahweh has done, and no man can compare Himself to who He is.He is perfect in all His ways (Deuteronomy 32:4).  Soli Deo Gloria.
 He is Light (1 John 1:5). Soli Deo Gloria
 He is Love (1 John 4:16). Soli Deo Gloria.
 He is Fire (Hebrews 12:29). Soli Deo Gloria.
 He is Sovereign (Deuteronomy 3:24). Soli Deo Gloria.
He is Holy (Leviticus 19:2). Soli Deo Gloria.
 He is Merciful and Gracious (Psalm 103:8).  Soli Deo Gloria.
 He did all the work in salvation. He is, therefore, worthy of all the praise and all the honour.  Soli Deo Gloria.
 He gave us the faith to believe the Gospel. Soli Deo Gloria.
 He baptized us into the salvation provided by Christ’s doing, dying and rising again. Soli Deo Gloria.
 He ransomed, redeemed and reconciled us. Soli Deo Gloria.
Here’s a striking fact…..all things are for His glory, not ours! Yahweh, speaking through Isaiah (48:11) tells us; “For my own sake, even for my own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another.”
God’s salvation is for Himself and for His Glory! Soli Deo Gloria.
 Many folks sincerely believe that they give glory to God for their salvation.  But it’s all in their imagination for they cannot say that they give glory to Him alone.  They are clinging to grace + their contribution of good works.  But, this is not Bible salvation. Salvation is of the Lord from beginning to end.
 Soli Deo Gloria.
 As a result of the Gospel, we can lead lives which glorify God.  We have been ransomed, redeemed and reconciled to God Himself in the person of His Son, the God/Man Jesus Christ.
 Soli Deo Gloria.
 It is no wonder then that Paul says in 1Corinthians 10:31 “Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatsoever you do, do all to the glory of God." Soli Deo Gloria.
 In practical terms, Soli Deo Gloria means that everything we do is to be done for God's glory.  Man’s pride and glory are excluded. We are to be motivated and inspired by God's glory and not our own.. He is the goal of our salvation.  We, of course, are the beneficiaries of His matchless grace, but we are not the center of God’s plan.  Ephesians 1:10 informs us of God’s ultimate intention saying, “That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:”" That’s how the future looks!
 Soli Deo Gloria
 And that’s the Gospel Truth!

Good morning, persecuted Christian!  This is a day of anti-Christian apostasy and continued, and increasing, persecution of those of us who are Spiritually regenerate, Bible-believing, Christian followers of the Living Lord Jesus Christ.  Fact.

In an earlier Bible Lesson in this Searching In Psalms series I wrote: “As we witness ‘the falling away’ of the professing Christian church, we can clearly see how today’s outward professing church has been smitten, as it were, with a plague of flattering hypocrisy!


"True Christians, including my humble self, can become very cynical in the midst of such an apostate plague.  Perhaps our cynicism is a healthy one?  We must be very alert in this increasingly apostate age.  All these signs are being fulfilled daily!

Perilous Times:  “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.”    (2 Timothy 3:1)  Pakistan. Vietnam. China. Nigeria. The Sudan. India. Burma. Iran.  These nations are imprisoning, persecuting, and even burning believers in their church buildings and in their homes DAILY - and we hear little fuss about it on the international news channels! With the facts of these anti-Christian persecutions clearly in view, Psalm 35 becomes even more relevant to any Christian believer who, at this crucial time in the prophetic history of God’s dealings with mankind, feels under such pressures, and in desperate need of Divine help and Spiritual support.

 

“Title: ‘A Psalm of David.’  Here is all we know concerning this Psalm, but internal evidence seems to fix the date of its composition in those troublous times when Saul hunted David over hill and dale and when those who fawned upon the cruel king slandered the innocent object of his wrath, or it may be referred to the unquiet days of frequent insurrections in David’s old age.  The whole Psalm is the appeal to Heaven of a bold heart and a clear conscience irritated beyond measure by oppression and malice.  Beyond a doubt, David’s Lord may be seen here by the Spiritual eye.”  (C.H. When beset by such cruel, unjust, persecutions, slander, and ill-treatment, Psalm 35 can be offered up by the clear-conscienced Christian as his/her personal plea to God for a prompt and Divine ‘confounding’ of our anti-Christian enemies.


“Bonar entitles this Psalm, ‘The awful utterance of the Righteous One regarding those that hate Him without cause’; and he makes the following remarks thereupon: ‘On that day when their views of justice shall be far clearer and fuller than now, we shall be able to understand how Samuel could hew Agag in pieces and the godly hosts of Israel slay utterly in Canaan man and woman and child, at God’s command.  We shall be able, not only to agree in the doom, ‘Let them be confounded,’ etc., but even to sing, ‘Amen, Hallelujah,’ over the smoke of torment (Revelation 19:1-2).”  (Treasury of David, page 169)


What is contained within the God-breathed Scriptures – Old Testament and New – should be what informs our conscience, not popular trends, and the shifting moral standards of international worldly opinion.  God’s Word alone is TRUTH.



“Sanctify them through Thy truth: Thy Word is truth.”  (John 17:17)

Verse 1.  “Plead my cause, O Lord, with them that strive with me. Doth the world condemn thee for thy zeal in the service of God?  Reproachfully scorn thee for thy care to maintain good works?  Not blush to traduce thee with imputations of preciseness, conceited singularity, Pharisaical hypocrisy?  Oh but if thy conscience condemns thee not all this while, if that be rectified by the sacred Word of God, if thou aim at His glory in pursuing thine own Salvation, and side not with the disturbers of the church, go on, good Christian, in the practice of piety, discourage not thyself in thy laudable endeavours, but recount with comfort that the Lord is thy Judge (1 Cor. 4:4).” (Isaac Craven’s Sermon at Paul’s Cross, 1630)

Verse 1.  “…Fight against them that fight against me.  ‘My enemies are much too powerful for me, Lord, please fight against them with Thy Almighty power.  Confound Thine enemies, oh Lord!’  This is a prayerful plea that all who seek to forthrightly serve the risen Christ must constantly pray.



“Not by my power or by my might, but by Thy Spirit, O Lord of hosts..”  (Zechariah 4:6) (my paraphrase)

Verse 3.  “Draw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that persecute me: say unto my soul, ‘I am thy Salvation.’”  Sincere, Bible-believing Christians are called by God to ‘…put on the whole armour of God…’, but we are not to try to fight Spiritual battles in our own power or strength, or wisdom.  The Battle is not ours, but God’s, and it is God that does the actual ‘fighting’, and it is the Lord God Who assures us, therefore, of complete and utter Victory – in Christ Jesus.  Hallelujah!  In Christ, we are invincible!  Glory, all glory to the Victorious Lamb, Christ Jesus!


Thought:  In times of increased persecution of Christian Bible-believers – let us increase our prayerful petitions to the Lord for His Almighty and All-powerful help?  We already have the full Victory through the Cross of Christ.

The Wednesday Word…What does that Mean? 

 
Faith alone

 
Romans 3:21-22, 2 Corinthians 5:21, Romans 10:3

 
Faith Alone (Sola Fide) was the battle cry of the Reformation.  It’s a radical truth that will deliver us from self-absorption and legalism.

 
It is a vital truth, therefore, we must get it straight.  We receive our salvation by faith + nothing. Neither ceremonies nor rituals need apply for the job. Faith alone grasps that all which is necessary for our acceptance with God has already been done by God Himself in His great redemptive act in Jesus Christ.
 
 
To paraphrase the Australian Forum, “Faith receives that the God/Man, Jesus Christ, in our name and our behalf, met all our obligations before the bar of eternal justice.”
"
 
 Faith understands that our salvation was secured by a complete and perfect work. Faith alone apprehends that we cannot add or contribute anything to Christ’s accomplishments.

 
This, however, does not mean that faith is our Saviour. Faith was not led as a lamb to the slaughter.  Nevertheless, faith causes us to look to our Redeemer, the Lord Jesus, as our only hope. Faith never looks at itself.  It provides no foundation of safety for the believer.

 
Gospel faith is the opposite of having a vague faith in some God out there. Having a general sort of faith is not saving faith.

 
Some people may actually believe that for every drop of rain that falls, a flower grows! But, that’s not saving faith.

 
Someone says, “I believe that everything will turn out for good in the end.” Good for you, but that is not saving faith.

 
Others say, “It doesn’t matter what you believe, as long as you believe sincerely.” That’s not saving faith, and besides, it is nonsense. It’s like saying, “It doesn’t matter what medicine I take, as long as I’m sincere.” Welcome to the funeral parlour.

 
Faith, Gospel Faith, on the other hand, grasps that God's saving work has been done completely outside of our own experience. Indeed, gospel faith comprehends that the Finished Work was in no way accomplished inside the believer. As John Bunyan pertinently says, "……., this is one of the greatest mysteries in the world; namely, that a righteousness that resides in heaven should justify me, a sinner on earth!"  (Bunyan: Justified by and Imputed Righteousness) .

 
Faith embraces that God is righteous, holy, just, and loving. Faith recognizes that we have sinned against this same God. Faith perceives that, outside of grace, we stand guilty and condemned. But, faith also embraces that Jesus is God clothed in a human body. Faith sees Him and His perfection as the substitute for sinners.

 
Gospel Faith sees that all our sins have been paid for. Not one of them has been left to damn us.

 
Faith receives this and makes it our own.

 
Faith sees that our sins are not put away by confession.

 
Faith sees that our sins are not put away by fasting.

 
Faith sees that our sins are not put away by prayer.

 
Faith sees that our sins are not put away by popes, prelates or priests.

 
Faith, however, sees that, at the cross,

 
Sin was condemned,

 
Justice was satisfied,

 
The Law was magnified,

 
God was glorified,

 
The sinner was saved and our adversary, Satan, was utterly confounded!

 
And that's the Gospel Truth!

A Word In Due Season

JESUS IS AWARE

Scripture:  Mark 6:48 (NLT)  "He saw that they were in serious trouble, rowing hard and struggling against the wind and waves."

Jesus told His disciples to get into a boat and go to the other side of the lake and then He went into the hills to pray alone.  Late that night while Jesus was still on the land, He saw the disciples.  Their boat was in the middle of the lake and they were in much difficulty as they rowed against the winds and the waves.  About three o'clock in the morning, Jesus came to them, walking on the water.  When He reached the disciples Jesus spoke to them and said, "Don&# 39;t be afraid, Take courage!  I am here!"

Jesus saw the disciples when they weren't even aware that He was watching them.  Then, He used the thing that was troubling them, as a tool to get to them.  He walked to them on the same water that they were struggling in.  Isn't that just like God?  He takes our problems and somehow makes them seem as nothing.  He parts our Rea Sea and allows us to pass over to the other side and then He uses that same sea to destroy the enemy that is pursuing us.  He tells us to count it all joy when we enter into trials and tribulations because He is going to cause all things to work together for our good.  Somehow we are going to come out better at the end of the ordeal than we were at the beginning.  I remember when my house was flooded with close to seven feet of water.  The Lord provided funds  for me and after it was all over with and the repairs were complete, my house looked better than it did before.

Just as Jesus was praying in the hills that day before He rescued the disciples on the lake, He is praying and interceding for you and me at the right hand of the Father in Heaven.  He is not only praying, He is watching us continually and is aware when we are in serious trouble.  He knows how tired we are of rowing and struggling against the winds and waves of this life.  He sees our financial difficulties, our heart aches, our physical fatigue, our troubled relationships, and our disappointments.  It will only take one moment of the Master's time, one touch from His hands, or one word from His lips to fix our problems.  He is waiting for us to call out to Him.

There is nothing too great for the Lord to handle and there is nothing hidden from His eyes or His heart.  Jesus sees everything, knows everything, and understands everything.  In our moments of distress, He will come to our rescue and speak to us saying, "Don' t be afraid, Take courage, I am here!" 
He Cares for You "Casting all your care upon Him,for He careth for you. "1 Peter 5:7 Too wise to make an error,Too just to do a wrong;When darkness, here, surrounds me Then, I list for Heaven’s song. For, the Giver of the rainbow,The creator of the light,Will not leave us, in our sorrow,All alone in blackest night.  "If I Were the Devil"

I guess this sounds a little weird for a title, but bear with me. At a Bible study, we studied the book of Jude. Jude encourages us to contend for the faith amidst a lot of false teaching and teachers. I placed a few verses at the start here, and the same ones at the end of this devotional. With the truth of these verses in mind, let us read on.

II Corinthians 2:11 That no advantage may be gained over us by Satan. For we are not ignorant of his devices.
I Peter 5:8 Be sober, be watchful. Your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.

II Corinthians 11:14-15 And no marvel; for even Satan fashioneth himself into an angel of light. It is no great thing, therefore, if his ministers also fashion themselves as ministers of righteousness, whose end shall be according to their works.

IF I WERE THE DEVIL... The first thing I would do is to deny my own existence in the world and downplay it in the local church, allowing me to go about my business unhindered and unchecked!

IF I WERE THE DEVIL... The second thing I would do would be to read the Bible carefully. I could then twist and turn the Scriptures, to mislead saints and sinners alike.

IF I WERE THE DEVIL... I would confuse people with cults, encourage them to attend their services, and promote the idea that good works are enough to get you into Heaven.

IF I WERE THE DEVIL...The fourth thing I would do is to prevent saints from growing in grace. I would confuse them theologically. I would push them into one of many extremes. I would attempt to discourage them, and would get them mad if I could -- and most of all, keep them extremely idle.

IF I WERE THE DEVIL... The fifth thing I would do is to ruthlessly and viciously attack three foundations of the faith. 

- Marriage: (Genesis 2 and Ephesians 5) 

- I would advocate easy divorce laws
- I would support abortion. I would beguile women with the same foolish and false freedoms I promised, in the garden of Eden, to Eve.  

- Human Government: (Genesis 9 and Romans 13) and the church (Romans 1:7 and I Corinthians 1:2). I would encourage anarchy: "We shall overthrow." I would encourage students to burn everything (except the midnight oil for study). I would encourage disgust for all authority -- police, courts, customs and the constitution. I could even take wholesome Biblical words and pervert their meaning -- like "grass" , "bread" and "fruit" -- and begin a more detailed debasing of the Word.  

- The Church: I would continue to attack the church from the outside, but would concentrate the bulk of my evil effort from within. I would strive to establish a dead church, dig a hole, carve a tombstone and bury it.

IF I WERE THE DEVIL ... I would strive for weeks, months, years, centuries, twenty-four hours a day, to accomplish all these goals. Some I could achieve as a roaring lion, others as an angel of light. But each goal would reveal to some that I am busy at work, while the rest are almost asleep.

As the devastation of the Easter Sunday bombings in Sri Lanka fades into the memory of the media, the suffering of hundreds remains an ongoing concern for The Voice of the Martyrs Canada. As of May 6th, the total death toll stood at 257, including 40 foreign nationals. The hundreds who survived the attacks continue to face physical suffering, the horror of lost loved ones, and the trauma of witnessing such horrendous violence first hand. (For a previous report on the attacks, go to this page.)

In response, organizations around the world have been reaching out to help. The Voice of the Martyrs Canada has made a commitment to provide financial assistance through its "Families of Martyrs Fund" (for more information,  click here) and "Medical Fund" (click here). These funds will help cover medical expenses, as well as other means of support for devastated families. The assistance will be provided in coordination with national partners within Sri Lanka to ensure necessary help is delivered in the most effective way.

Continue to remember the hundreds of victims who are suffering from the trauma and other after-effects of these terrible attacks. Pray for the ministry initiatives that are taking place throughout the country and around the world in order to reach out with the compassion of our Lord to those greatly in need of help and hope. Also intercede for the surviving perpetrators who were involved in the planning of the attacks that they will come to experience the life-transformative love, forgiveness and saving grace available through Jesus Christ.

Six Slain for Refusing to Convert

After attending a meeting on April 28th, Pastor Pierre Ouédraogo, 80, and other church members were talking together in the church courtyard when gunmen on motorcycles suddenly stormed in. The armed assailants demanded that the believers deny their Christian faith. Bibles and mobile phones were seized and the Christians were then taken one at a time behind the building where they were each shot. In total, six Christians died that day for refusing to convert to Islam. One other, Adama Sawadogo, was injured but thankfully his condition is not considered life-threatening.

Following the attack, the church building and two motorcycles were set on fire. Some sheep and a bag of rice were stolen from the pastor's house before the assailants left the area. The six slain church members were buried the same day during a ceremony attended by both Christians and Muslims from the community.

According to sources in the town of Sirgadji, the attackers returned the next day "searching for Christians." They returned with impunity due to there being insufficient law enforcement in the area. Some were known to locals as "young men who've been radicalized. " Since the incident, more than 100 Christians have left the town to seek more secure locations.

Please uphold all those who are now grieving the loss of their loved ones. Also pray for Adama who was injured, as well as the many community members who have fled for safety. May the Christians in Burkina Faso find their strength and encouragement in the Lord, as well as each other. Pray that those responsible for this horrific attack will experience God's conviction for their crimes and, as a result, come to repentance and full surrender of their lives to Him.

Gunmen's Attempts to Intimidate

Christians in Palestine request prayer following the attempts of armed militia in Jifna, near Ramallah, to intimidate them through acts of violence.

On April 25th, a Christian woman was involved in a minor car accident, which she reported to police, filing a complaint against the driver of the other vehicle. That driver, however, was the son of a prominent member of Fatah, the ruling party in the West Bank. Later that day, approximately 30 gunmen entered the Christian community, firing guns in the air, throwing gasoline bombs, and demanding that the complaint be withdrawn. No one was injured, though there was property damage in the vicinity of the attack which included some vehicles.

While police from Ramallah were called, they did not arrive for three hours.. The governor of Ramallah, Leila Ghanem, promised that those responsible would be punished. However, on April 29th, a "reconciliatio n meeting" took place in which the father and son apologized and the traffic complaint was withdrawn. As a result, no action will be taken against those responsible for these crimes.

Ask God to mediate on behalf of the victimized Christians in this Palestinian community, preventing any further threats or incidents of violence against them. While understandably ill at ease following the recent terrifying attack, may the reassuring presence of Jesus calm their anxious hearts and minds -- giving them the peace that transcends all understanding. Pray that those responsible for instigating and committing the violence will come to realize that there is ultimately true accountability with the Righteous Judge, regardless of their political or social standing. In obedience and honour to Him, may the believers involved respond with love and grace..

Asia Bibi Possibly in Canada

If reports from CNN and other notable sources are accurate, Asia Bibi finally arrived in Canada on May 8th, more than six months after all charges against her were dismissed. Following multiple false rumours since the October 31st court ruling, it is now reported that Asia has arrived in Canada with her husband, and the couple are staying in an undisclosed location with their children. Further information on the family's location will remain confidential for security purposes.

Assuming the accuracy of the reports, we praise God for this wonderful news! May He abundantly bless Asia and her family with encouragement and provision as they begin a new life here in Canada. Pray for their safety, as threats against them continue despite their relocation. For the many other believers in Pakistan who are still facing threats and imprisonment for their faith, ask the Lord to intervene mightily on their behalf -- ministering in ways that will not only provide help to them but also bring glory to His all-powerful name.

Please continue to pray for us, the situation is not impossible, please pray that this situation opens up many hearts to the Saviour and drives god's people to rely on him totally, we have no other refuge but him

The Wednesday Word: ‘What does that mean?

 Grace Alone
 When we say we are justified by Grace alone, it means that, even though in and of ourselves we are unacceptable, we have divine acceptance through the doing dying and rising again of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
 Grace alone means favour and welcome shown to the rebellious and undeserving. Such is God’s grace that sinners are said to be justified freely (Romans 3:24). To be justified "freely" means not only to be declared ‘Not Guilty’ but also signifies that we are declared not guilty without any cause in us.
It is only through the Gospel that we see God’s gracious and righteous acceptance of unacceptable people. No amount of trying to obey God’s Law on our part could have obtained our acquittal. No amount of personal character or self-denial by us ever causes God to regard us as acceptable in His sight. We have His favour only by pure and undeserved grace. That’s part of what we mean by Grace Alone.
 Grace pursued this sinner when I was pursuing sin. Grace found me, saved me and has kept me continually. Grace, you see, is not a one-time event.. In this life, we stand in need of God’s unfailing and unceasing grace. If we are attempting to find acceptance and welcome before the Father because of our moral character, we have fallen from grace (Galatians 5:4).
 Larry Criss says,
 “I know this, I am a great sinner, and nothing less than great grace will do anything for me.
I need reigning grace, grace that is greater than all my sin.
I need grace to keep me from falling, and grace to present me faultless before the throne of God.
I need grace to live by and grace to die by.
Just as it was grace that called me, it is grace that will not let me go. If God’s great salvation is not grace from beginning to end, if anything about salvation is dependent on me, I have no hope at all. But thank God, that is not the case. God’s grace has kept me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home.”" From beginning to end, we are saved by grace. That’s another part of what we mean when we say we are saved by Grace alone.
 Everything to do with our salvation is because of Grace. If we have been regenerated, it was by the power of God. That’s grace! If we have repented, our repentance was the sovereign gift of God. That’s grace. If we are believers, our faith was the sovereign work of God. That’s Grace!
 To recap, if we are to be saved, God must save us by Grace alone. No combination of Grace and works will do. Salvation comes from the hand of the all gracious God.
 “Not what my hands have doneCan save my guilty soul;Not what my toiling flesh has borneCan make my spirit whole.Not what I feel or doCan give me peace with God;Not all my prayers and sighs and tearsCan bear my awful load.
Thy work alone, O Christ, can ease this weight of sin;Thy blood alone, O Lamb of God, can give me peace within.Thy love to me, O God, not mine, O Lord, to Thee, Can rid me of this dark unrest,And set my spirit free..”
 
 And that’s the Gospel Truth!

A cooler Hell!

"God, I thank You that I'm not like other people--greedy, unrighteous, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give a tenth of everything I get." Luke 18:11-12 

Many please and satisfy themselves with mere civility and common morality. They bless themselves that they are not swearers, nor drunkards, nor extortioners, nor adulterers, etc. Their behavior is civil, sincere, harmless and blameless.

But civility is not sanctity. 

Civility rested in, is but a beautiful abomination--a smooth way to Hell and damnation! 

Civility is very often . . .
  the nurse of impiety,
  the mother of flattery, and
  an enemy to real sanctity. 
There are those who are so blinded with the fair shows of civility--that they can neither see the necessity nor beauty of sanctity. There are those who now bless themselves in their common morality, whom at last God will scorn and cast off for lack of real holiness and purity.

A moral man may be an utter stranger . . .
  to God,
  to Christ,
  to Scripture,
  to the filthiness of sin,
  to the depths and devices of Satan,
  to their own hearts,
  to the new birth,
  to the great concerns of eternity, 
  to communion with Christ, 
  to the secret and inward ways and workings of the Spirit. 

Well, sirs, remember this: though the moral man is good for many things--yet he is not good enough to go to Heaven! He who rises to no higher pitch than civility and morality--shall never have communion with God in glory. The most moral man in the world, may be both Christless and graceless.

Morality is not sufficient to keep a man out of eternal misery. All morality can do, is to help a man to one of the best rooms and easiest beds which Hell affords! For, as the moral man's sins are not so great as others--so his punishments shall not be so great as others. This is all the comfort that can be given to a moral man--that he shall have a cooler Hell than others have. This is but cold comfort. 

Morality without piety is as a body without a soul. 
Will God ever accept of such a stinking sacrifice? Surely not!

"But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, 'God, have mercy on me, a sinner.' I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God." Luke 18:13-14

Psalm 119:34
“Teach me, O Lord, the way of Your statutes, and I shall keep it to the end. Give me understanding, and I shall keep Your law; indeed, I shallobserveit with my whole heart.”
诗篇119章34节
“求你赐我悟性我便遵守你的律法，且要一心探究遵守。”

Psalm 119 is the longest chapter in the Bible.  Each section is introduced by a letter of the Hebrew alphabet. I am told that Jewish youth had to memorize the entire chapter -- with 176 verses, that was no easy task. The Psalmist pens this Psalm in the form of a prayer beseeching the Lord to be our teacher.
诗篇第119章是圣经最长的一章。每一节都是由希伯来字母开头的。据我所知犹太的青年人需要熟记这一整章—176行，真不简单。诗篇的作者以祷告的口吻，写下祈求上帝引领的内容。

It is interesting to dig a little deeper into the meaning of the word OBSERVE. In the Hebrew it means to keep, guard, keep watch and ward, protect.That gives us a much clearer meaning of what the writer is seeking from the Lord.
“探究”一词值得思索。希伯来语中，它有坚持，守护，看守，预防，保护的意思。这也告诉我们，作者对上帝的用意。

When I was a boy, or even a grown man in graduate school, I was required to apply myself to gaining knowledge. I fear that I fell short many times, but as I entered each classroom I was exposing myself to the things my instructor would teach me.
我作为一个在研究院学习的男孩，或者说一个成年人，我有义务去探索知识。很多次我担心我不够格，但当我走进教室时，我渴望将自己暴露在学海之中。

As we read this Psalm of prayer it is well and good to make it our own prayer. Our part is to listen to the Lord as He teaches and themto keep, guard, keep watch and ward, protect with our whole heart.
当我们品读诗篇时，可以将其选做我们祷告的内容。我们要做的是遵守上帝的教导，并且坚持，守护，看守，回应，保护他的教导。

NUMBERS 1424 But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.
HAVE YOU A CALEB SPIRIT?Right in the midst of this uproar, Caleb stood up; he would not be silenced.Caleb was one who was not going to go along with the majority. Oh how we need Caleb's today, and Joshua's for that matter. Remember that in the book of Joshua, even at age 80, he said, give me this mountain.He is one who is like Paul in Philippians 3; always pressing on. He is seeking always to go forward, and to claim more ground. He wants to claim the prize, because there was no retirement for him.Caleb did not put his sword away. He was ready!Note the wonderful promise given to Caleb. Please note who one of the first judges of Israel was, that's right, Caleb's nephew: 
9 And when the children of Israel cried unto the Lord, the Lord raised up a deliverer to the children of Israel, who delivered them, even Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother.
10 And the Spirit of the Lord came upon him, and he judged Israel, and went out to war: and the Lord delivered Chushanrishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand; and his hand prevailed against Chushanrishathaim.When you honour God, He will give you honour. God granted the promise He made to Caleb.My question is:Have you a Caleb spirit?Have you an attitude that goes against the flow, even when the majority say you are wrong?Are you prepared to say: Give me this mountain?Then you have a Spirit like Caleb.God bless you,

My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Greetings to you all in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I take this as my privilege, introducing my Lord’s work “Christ Glory Fire Ministries” and my “testimony” in to your kind notice. I am Pastor Hosanna, working at village called Pulletikurru, located in East Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh, India. I born and brought up in an orthodox Hindu family and was practicing the Hindu system Idol worship and leading many to observe the Hindu culture rituals. My father and all my family members are Hindu religious Teachers working in Hindu Temples. As I to practiced the same from my childhood reciting all the Hindu dogmas, they expected that I would be their successor to continue as Hindu priest, to lead many people to Hinduism. Strictly I was kept within the four walls, not allowed to go anywhere to see anything at outside world. At the age of 19 years, I went out secretly along with my childhood friends to see the outside world.  I was taken by friends to one public place, there was huge crowd gathered, latter I came to know that it was a Christian meeting going on. The speaker on the stage preaching that “There is only one God and Christ is our Savior  Man made Idols never be considered as gods. They have eyes but cannot see, have mouth but cannot eat, have nose but cannot smell, have legs cannot move BUT there is salvation in Christ through living God”. I got angry hearing those words. My friends left me and joined in the crowd. Silently I left that place and came back to home, but whole night I spent sleepless thinking over those words. Those words are repeating and resounding with echo. My strong opinion is Christ is not God of India but foreigners, only Hindu gods are for Indian people. I woke up early, and went in to our Temple. I started calling all our deities one after one to speak to me directly but there was no response from any Idol. Finally I decided to call Jesus, thinking he should reply me if he is real God. I started calling, miraculously I could hear a low and gentle voice “my son I have chosen you to become my vessel to do my service among Hindus, And He spoke to me showing the verse that Go ye all in to the nations and proclaim the Word of God.” That is day is turning point in my life, our almighty God presented Himself to me in on 9th April 1997, and brought me out from that Hinduism spiritual darkness and delivered me from satanic bondage. I humbly submitted to the voice and dedicated myself to do His service for eternal life in Christ. I left my parents, left all my wealthy properties and came out with empty hands to do His service to this village, where I never seen before. I could experience God is anointing me to be as Apostle to many Hindus. God is so faithful to me in all these seven years, strengthening my work to expand many neigh boring villages and districts. Now I am with 15 branch churches and 20 Junior Pastors working in various places in our team. Our teaching is 1st Century Apostolic doctrine. Several times I was opposed by orthodox Hindu people, persecuted by rowdies. They plotted against me to send out from this village but God protects from all the evil. By faith I am continuing my ministry. 
My Vision is
To Bring 1 Million souls to Christ
To Raise the Prayer Partner And Supporters Throughout The World.
To Establish 10 Bible colleges to prepare the efficient pastors to reach Gospel unrehearsed villages.
To Construct 500 permanent Church buildings.
To Provide necessary tools like Bicycles, drums, P.A. systems, Lights to 1000 Pastors and Evangelists.
To Buy a vehicle to send Film ministry teams to promote the Gospel to unrehearsed areas in India
To Look after 200 orphan Children and to have our own campus for this growing ministry
To Conduct Pastors and Leaders conferences to strengthen the Church in India.
To Distribute 20,000 gospel tracts and 10,000 Holy Bibles.
To Conduct VBS ( Voluntary Bible Classes ) to Children and Youth.
Our Present Needs Are:
25 Cent own land cost of USD 8.000.00
Important Church material cost of USD 1,500.00
20 Motor Bikes cost of USD 1,500 each
20 P.A. systems and Lights cost of USD 1,000 each
Need of a Car cost of USD 20,000
To support 25 widows monthly USD 30 each ( USD 30 x 25 = 800 per month )
