Kerry’s Wife Funds Anti-Israel Incitement to Violence
A foundation chaired by John Kerry’s wife funds a restaurant promoting anti-Israel incitement and offering products only from countries in conflict with America.
A foundation chaired by Teresa Heinz Kerry, wife of U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, funds a restaurant that promotes an anti-Israel agenda, the Free Beacon reports.
The eatery, called Conflict Kitchen, received a $50,000 grant from the Heinz Endowment in April to help pay for its moving costs. It is now situated near the Carnegie Mellon University and University of Pittsburgh campuses.
The restaurant, which serves popular Middle Eastern food such as hummus and baba ghannoush, states that it only uses products from countries at war with the U.S., such as Afghanistan, North Korea, Cuba, Iran and Venezuela. “Our current focus is on Palestinian food, culture and politics,” the Conflict Kitchen website states.
In fact, the website, decorated with a logo in Arabic letters, is filled with sophisticated anti-Israel propaganda.
Sandwiches Wrapped in Propaganda
The restaurant’s sandwiches are wrapped in messages carrying quotes from Palestinian Arabs mourning the creation of the State of Israel.
One wrapper refers to the creation of Israel as “an intentional and ongoing offensive.” It also alleges that Israel “deliberately blocks Palestinians from obtaining drinking water, prevents non-Jews from becoming citizens and has assassinated or imprisoned all of the non-corrupt Palestinian leaders.”
Another includes the inciteful message: “Palestinians are not going to just let [Israel] in and drop their arms. No, they’re going to kill and they are going to die.”
An Assault on Free Speech?
The restaurant not only hosted panel discussions featuring anti-Israel speakers; the owners also barred supporters of the Jewish community and Israel from participating in these events, according to several media outlets.
Conflict Kitchen’s location is ideal for inflaming the already-boiling anti-Israel atmosphere on campuses. As Times of Israel points out, “anti-Israel activities on US campuses are up by about 50% compared to the same period last year, according to Jacob Baime, executive director of the Washington-based Israel on Campus Coalition (ICC).
Millions of Dollars to the Radical Left
A spokesman for Heinz Endowment confirmed to the Free Beacon that the foundation has been funding Conflict Kitchen, adding:, “The opinions of Conflict Kitchen do not represent those of the Heinz Endowment.” He declined to say whether they would continue to support the group in the future.
Capital Research Center, which monitors American foundations, in a feature on the move to the left among non-profits, reports that Heinz Kerry has funneled millions of dollars to radical left-wing environmentalists.
Is Kerry an Unbiased Mediator?
Secretary Kerry, a key player in the Israel-Palestinian Authority negotiations, has made controversial statements regarding Israel. He recently stated that the lack of progress in the negotiations was the cause for the strengthening of the Islamic State (IS or ISIS) terror group in the region, seemingly holding Israel responsible for the lack of an agreement.
