BREAKING: Obama Still Running Major Federal Agency, Says Attorney

The lawyer who filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request with the FBI was denied when he asked for archived records relating to Hillary Clinton. The FBI cited “insufficient public interest” in the records, even though the records promise to reveal details of the investigation into former Secretary of State Clinton’s use of a private email server to conduct official government business.

This baffling response from the FBI compelled attorney Ty Clevenger, who made the FOIA request, to remark: “It looks like the Obama administration is still running the FBI.”

Getting the run-around
Clevenger told The Washington Times that he received a letter on Aug. 8 from FBI records management section chief David M. Hardy informing him that he failed to prove that the FBI’s investigation of Clinton was a matter of public interest.

A dismayed Clevenger shared his outraged response to Hardy on his personal blog:

Frankly, I am stunned that I should have to explain why my request pertains to a matter of public interest. At the time of the perjury referral, Mrs. Clinton was the Democratic nominee for President of the United States, a former U.S. Secretary of State, and a former U.S. Senator. As one would expect, the referral made national news.

I have enclosed a copy of a July 11, 2017 Washington Post article titled “Congressmen ask U.S. Attorney’s Office to investigate Clinton for perjury.” One need only Google Chaffetz+referral+Clinton and a string of articles appears. Clearly, my request pertains to a matter of public interest.
Clevenger’s pro-tip for doing Google searches failed to convince the FBI to reconsider their decision. A second letter from the agency doubled down on their original decision, informing the attorney that “we have determined that you have not sufficiently demonstrated that the public’s interest in disclosure outweighs personal privacy interests of the subject.”

The FBI’s reasoning is particularly disconcerting given that their own director in 2016 believed the public interest in the matter of Clinton’s email was so compelling that he broke with protocol and released public statements regarding the progress of the FBI’s investigation.

Indeed, there was hardly a day that passed during this time period where the press failed to provide 24-hour coverage of the scandal — in the name of satisfying the public’s interest in electing a president.

The enemy within
Clevenger is not the only American citizen to suspect that Obama still holds sway over many bureaucratic and administrative officials working inside the Beltway. Former press secretary Sean Spicer noted:

I think that there’s no question when you have eight years of one party in office, that there are people who stay in government who are affiliated with and continue to espouse the agenda of the previous administration.
Part of this agenda may be the intentional obstruction of an external review of the FBI’s Clinton probe. The Department of Justice (DOJ) under Obama failed to bring charges against Clinton— a former member of the president’s cabinet — claiming that she was not technically savvy enough to know the risks she was presenting by working from a private server.

During the 2016 campaign, an unprecedented $1.9 million of $2 million in campaign donations that came from federal employees went to Team Clinton, emphasizing the ideological makeup of agencies like the DOJ, the FBI and the State Department when Trump took office.

Even under Trump’s administration, the DOJ has relentlessly pursued the president for evidence of alleged collusion with Russia. Meanwhile, federal investigators remain reluctant to explain to Americans why they decided to drop charges against Clinton.

Just what, exactly, does the FBI have to hide? Fortunately, we may soon find out: a petition has been started to collect signatures from Americans to prove that there is an undeniable public interest in looking at the evidence against Clinton.
