Thousands of Palestinians Demonstrate in Hebron Against Chaos, High Prices

In addition, dozens of truck owners and drivers organized a convoy protest in the center of Hebron demanding the Palestinian Authority government reduce prices and taxes, and provide security to end the recent uptick in lawlessness and the state of chaos in the city.
Other areas of the West Bank witnessed similar protests, called for by labor unions.
Protesters chanted slogans calling for "the fall of the government and the governor of Hebron."
Since the beginning of the month, prices in the West Bank increased significantly, affecting dozens of food products, essential commodities, electricity, and fuel.

The current tension is not new to the largest Palestinian city, where tribal order rules and the PA security forces have had difficulty reining in the violence. The past few days have seen a surge in violence in the city, but the city has been simmering and on the verge of boiling over for more than a year.

Meanwhile, last week several Palestinian businesses hiked the prices of their products, putting substantial pressure on the PA, which forced the businesses to reverse their decision. Public pressure also led to the decision by businesses to cancel the price hikes.

Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh announced the formation of a committee to study and follow up on the issue of price increases in local markets. Shtayyeh stressed that the government "will not abandon the poor and low-income groups by controlling the prices of basic commodities," insisting that the government will take the necessary measures to protect those with limited income. IDF Drills for a Winter War with Hezbollah
In the middle of two harsh winter storms, the IDF’s 74th Armored Battalion conducted a large-scale drill and significantly improved its ability to go to war against Hezbollah.

The five-day exercise saw troops simulate combat against the Iran-backed terror group after a three-month training period in the Golan. The drill saw them practice combat methods in rocky terrain and in urban centers where soldiers will have to battle the group.

“The drill was long and complicated, with a number of technical operations that we worked on,” said Lt.-Col. Ofer Tchorz, commander of the 74th battalion, a part of the 188th Armored Brigade.

The challenges posed by the Israeli winter such as cold temperatures and rain, as well as challenges posed by the communication between maneuvering units are a central part of the drill that troops are training on.

“The summer doesn’t influence tanks, but winter takes the drill to the next level,” he said, explaining that some of the tanks got stuck in the mud during the drill, needing to be removed by engineering platforms.

Having to carry out the drill during bad weather showed troops how to deal with the added challenges posed by such conditions should war break out with Hezbollah in the winter, Tchorz explained.

“We are preparing for war with Hezbollah in all weather conditions.”

The only thing worse than hundreds of fish washing up on the beach is hundreds of fish washing ashore on several beaches around the world at the same time.


And that is what happened last week, raising concerns that Hosea’s end-of-days vision of a wildlife apocalypse might be kicking in.

MEXICO: DEAD CUTLASSFISH
Hundreds of dead fish washed up dead on Palmares Beach in the city of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico twelve days ago. The breed of fish, the largehead hairtail (Trichiurus lepturus), also known as cutlassfish, are elongated in shape with a thin pointed tail (they lack a fishtail in the usual form). The eyes are large, and the large mouth contains long pointed fang-like teeth. They grow to about 13 pounds and while most are only 2-3 feet long, some have been known to grow to over seven and a half feet in length. 

At least 200 of the fish were found washed up onto the shore. Local fishermen indicated that it is not common to see this species near the beach, since they normally live in the deep ocean at around 130-1,500 feet. 

Authorities are now analyzing the cause of their mysterious death.

HOKKAIDO: FROZEN SARDINES
A few hundred dead fish may not seem alarming but it was repeated just a few days later and on the other side of the world. TV Asahi, located in Tokyo, reported that one week ago, dead sardines began washing up on the beaches of Wakkanai City, Hokkaido. The die-off was attributed to the abnormally cold weather. Though the cold-snap was unfortunate for the sardines, it allowed the locals to collect the fish before they spoiled. 



Authorities were less enthusiastic, expressing concern that an unknown disease may have been the cause of the fish’s death. Last year, Hokkaido was the scene of a “red tide”, a harmful algal bloom occurring along coastal regions that results from large concentrations of aquatic microorganisms. It is believed that the algae drifted down from Russia, causing wholesale deaths of salmon and sea urchins, resulting in damages totaling $67 million to the local fishing industry. 

ITALY: HEAVY SNOW AND DEAD SEABREAM
In a similar occurrence, thousands of dead seabream appeared five days ago in the Richo Lagoon of Drepano Lake in north-western Greece after a heavy snowstorm blanketed the entire country.“They died from thermal shock,” said local Ichthyologist Konstantinos Perdikaris from the Department of Fisheries, who visited the lagoon on Tuesday.

The Seabream species are sensitive to low temperatures and cannot survive below four degrees celsius, said Perdikaris. Usual temperatures in the lagoon at this time of year are about seven to eight degrees celsius, he said.

The fish were at a shallow depth where the cold was quicker to penetrate the water. The fish belonged to a local state-owned fish farm, and due to their containment in an enclosure in the lagoon they could not swim out to the deeper depths of the lake or sea to survive, said Perdikaris.

An estimated 50 tons of fish died in the incident. 

DEAD FISH BRINGING MESSIAH?

Rabbi Shaul Judelman, former director of the Ecology Beit Midrash, a religious study group focused on the environment as it is treated in classical Jewish sources, noted that ecological endeavors are clearly an element in the Final redemption.

“The sea used to be teeming with life,” Rabbi Judelman said. “It was a given in the Bible that the heaven and Earth would always exist. But when the prophets describe the end of life in the sea, it was the ultimate, an inconceivable level for people to imagine.”

“אחרית הימים (acharit hayamim; literally the end of days) can also be translated as the end of the oceans,” Rabbi Judelman pointed out.

“Nature is described as praising God and Man was set to guard over it. Our relationship with nature was initiated by Hashem (God) and how we relate to nature is an expression of how we relate to Hashem. Nature is God’s aspect of Judgment as related by God’s name of Elohim with which he created the world. In the end of days, when we are judged, we will be judged in this name, the name of nature. Some envision the end of days as armageddon and catastrophic. But according to Jewish tradition, there is another possibility that we can bring the Redemption in Achishena, through the sweetening of the judgment. Part of this can definitely be expressed through nature.”

“The environment is our divinely mandated responsibility. As such, harsh judgments can cause natural catastrophes. But in times of drought, we are told to pray but we are also told to engage in acts of charity. Nature is an extension of our relationship with God.”

Almost eight inches of snow fell on Jerusalem Wednesday night, though the blanket of white may not last as rain is expected along with rising temperatures. Schools shut their doors early on Wednesday and remained shut on Thursday while municipal crews manned 250 snowplows, spreading nearly 150 tons of salt to cope with the winter storm. Public transportation in the city was also halted in the evening, though the light rail remained in service. Roads leading to the northern Golan Heights remained closed as nearly four feet of snow fell on the Mount Hermon Ski Center. There were also warnings of possible flooding in coastal cities and flash floods in the Negev desert.

According to the Israel Electric Company, power consumption reached an all-time high overnight as Israelis switched on heating.
Rain was expected to continue until Saturday.
Snow is described by the prophets to be a fortuitous omen that signifies God’s forgiveness.

Legislators worlwide took part in an online conference on Thursday on the adoption and implementation of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s (IHRA) working definition of anti-Semitism. Each of the participants serves as chairperson of their government’s Israel Allies Caucus and has a faith-based connection with Israel.


The event was co-sponsored by the Israel Allies Foundation (IAF), the European Christian Political Movement and the Combat Antisemitism Movement. It was hosted by European Parliament member Bert-Jan Ruissen and Finnish Parliament member Peter Ostman.

The IAF promotes communication between parliamentarians and legislators around the world who share a belief that the State of Israel has the right to exist in peace within secure borders. It mobilizes political support for Israel based on shared Judeo-Christian values.

“As legislators, we have a responsibility to fight anti-Semitism with all the tools available to us,” said U.S. Congressional Israel Allies Caucus co-chair Chris Smith (R-N.J.). “This means we have to write good legislation, provide funding for programs to fight anti-Semitism, hold hearings, pass resolutions, meet with executive branch officials and work together with parliamentary colleagues in Israel Allies caucuses.”

TWO EARTHQUAKES IN JUST 12 HOURS ROCK NORTHERN ISRAEL

Residents of northern Israel reported feeling the ground shake on Sunday morning—the third such incident in less than two weeks.

According to the Israel Defense Forces Home Front Command, the epicenter of the quake was some 16 kilometers (9.9 miles) southeast of Tiberias. The tremor measured 4.1 on the Richter scale, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

It was the second tremor to be felt in 12 hours in the same region. The first was felt mostly in Haifa, the Krayot (close to the northern port city of Akko) and Beit She’an.

On Jan 11., a 6.6-magnitude tremor in Cyprus was felt throughout Israel.

EARTHQUAKES IN ISRAEL; USHERING IN PROPHECY, PRESAGING GOG AND MAGOG 
As terrifying as earthquakes can be, there may be a silver lining to an increase in regional seismic activity. In a 2007 article in the J-Post, Dr. Shmuel Marco,  Head of the School of the Environment and Earth Sciences at Tel Aviv University, noted that prophets became active a certain number of years after major earthquakes. Major earthquakes were recorded in the Jordan Valley in the years 31 BCE, 363 CE, 749 CE and 1033 CE.

“So roughly,” wrote Marco, “we are talking about an interval of every 400 years. If we follow the patterns of nature, a major quake should be expected at any time because almost a whole millennium has passed since the last strong earthquake.”

Dr. Marco went so far as to attribute Joshua’s victory at Jericho to divinely directed seismic interference.

“The destruction of the walls of the city and the damming of the river, as described in Joshua 6:1-16, is generally agreed by most archeologists to be the result of an earthquake, possibly on the Jericho Fault,” Dr.Marco wrote.

Dr. Marco’s theory is certainly consistent with the Prophets Amos and Zechariah whose periods of prophecy were expressly oriented around a major earthquake.

The words of Amos, a sheepbreeder from Tekoa, who prophesied concerning Yisrael in the reigns of Kings Uzziyahu of Yehuda and Yerovam son of Yoash of Yisrael, two years before the earthquake. Amos 1:1

Israel’s Jordan Valley and Dead Sea are part of the Syrian-African Rift Valley, which stretches from Lebanon’s Beqaa Valley to Mozambique in Southeastern Africa. Large earthquakes usually hit Israel approximately once every 90 years and there is concern that another one is due – considering that the most recent one occurred in 1927. That event saw more than 400 people killed and extensive damage to buildings in Jerusalem and Hebron.

Massive earthquakes in Israel are prophesied to accompany the multinational Gog and Magog conflict that will signal the end of times. Earthquakes and volcanoes are explicitly mentioned by the prophets as playing a role in the end of days, preparing the world by burning away impurities as a crucible is used in metallurgy to purify metal.

“And I will bring the third part through the fire and will refine them as silver is refined and will try them as gold is tried; they shall call on My name and I will answer them; I will say: ‘It is My people’ and they shall say: ‘Hashem is my God.’” Zechariah 13:9

These earthquakes will be so severe as to cause geographic changes in the Temple Mount, requiring the construction of an entirely new city. The quakes will cause springs of water to burst forth around Jerusalem, bringing about the prophecy in Zechariah.

And it shall come to pass in that day that living waters shall go out from Yerushalayim: half of them toward the eastern sea and half of them toward the western sea; in summer and in winter shall it be.” Zechariah 14:8

The earthquake will also split the Mount of Olives in two.

Israel and Morocco recently celebrated one year of normalized relations after signing the Abraham Accords but the agreements have caused a reshuffling of relations in the Middle East and not all have been peace-oriented.

ISRAEL MAKES PEACE WITH MOROCCO
The Trump-brokered Abraham Accords initiated a wave of peace in the Middle East, initially normalizing relations with the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain while Sudan, Morocco, and Oman quickly joined in as well. The accords also strengthened already existing ties between Jordan and Israel, as the UAE joined in agreements concerning water and electricity. 

But the Abraham Accords also resulted in military agreements. Israel and Morocco had low-level diplomatic relations in the 1990s, but Morocco severed them after a Palestinian uprising erupted in 2000. After that, the two states maintained informal relations. In exchange for Morocco normalizing relations with Israel in December 2020, the Trump administration promised to recognize Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara, a disputed North African territory.

This led to the signing of an unprecedented defense pact in November which included intelligence cooperation, arms deals, and joint military training. In a classic example of “the enemy of my enemy is my friend,” Israel agreed to cooperate with Muslim-majority Morocco in its battle against Al Qaeda and other jihadist organizations, promising to provide their new ally with cyber security and high-end military technologies such as drones. 

Relations between Algeria and neighboring Morocco have been marred by several crises since their independence, particularly the 1963 Sand War, the Western Sahara War of 1975–1991, the closing of the Algeria-Morocco border in 1994. There is an ongoing disagreement over the political status of Western Sahara. As a result, in August, Algeria severed ties with Morocco.

This new agreement may also bring the two countries together in their struggle against another common foe; Algeria, the largest nation in Africa. Algeria is part of the Arab boycott of Israel and in the 1967 and 1973 wars sent troops, including warplanes and armor, to participate in the Arab attempt to annihilate Israel. 

But more recently, Algeria is aligned with Iran. According to Morocco, in 2018, claimed the Iranian Embassy in Algeria aided the Lebanese terrorist organization Hezbollah in support of the pro-Algerian Polisario independent movement in Moroccan-controlled Western Sahara.

“Hezbollah sent military officials to Polisario and provided the front with… weapons and trained them on urban warfare,” Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita said then.

Morocco responded by evicting Iran’s ambassador from its territory and closing its embassy in Tehran.

A report last week in the Jerusalem Post indicated that these tensions may boil over very soon. The article cited the Paris-based newspaper L’Opinion as writing “The tension rises every day a little more between Algeria and Morocco, to the point that we are now talking about war between the two Maghreb countries.”

The article quoted sources close to the Algerian military as saying, “Algeria does not want war with Morocco, but it is ready to do so… “if it has to be done, it is today, because we are militarily superior at all levels and this may not be the case in a few years.”

The catalyst for conflict, according to the report,  “is Israel’s support for Morocco,” the source said. “This will change the situation, within an estimated three-year period.”

According to a L’Opinion source, “the weapons that worry Algerians the most are those related to electronic warfare and drones.”

“For now, the Americans are telling the Israelis not to supply weapon systems that could cause an immediate military imbalance in favor of Morocco,” a source told the daily paper.

RABBI WINSTON: “THE TENTH HOUR”
Rabbi Pinchas Winston was not shocked by the development, noting that it fits right into the end of days’ schedule. 

“We aren’t waiting for Gog and Magog to start,” Rabbi Winston stated unequivocally, adding enigmatically,  “This is to be expected as we are in the tenth hour before Messiah”

Rabbi Winston explains this concept in-depth on his website.

The rabbi further explained his statement by explaining that World War II officially began in 1939, involving just Germany and Poland. But even before that, Italy’s invasion of Ethiopia, Japan’s invasion of China, the Spanish Civil War, and other conflicts r set the stage for a multi-national conflict. Saudis Say Hezbollah a Threat to Arabs after Nasrallah Calls King a ‘Terrorist’
Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Beirut said Thursday, January 6, that Hezbollah was a threat to Arab security after the leader of the Iran-backed Lebanese movement branded King Salman a “terrorist.”

The latest exchange of insults follows a crisis between Lebanon and Gulf Arab states over the war in Yemen, and Saudi accusations that Hezbollah was meddling in the conflict.

“Riyadh hopes that the political parties will give priority to the supreme interest of Lebanon… and end Hezbollah’s terrorist hegemony over every aspect of the state,” ambassador Waleed Bukhari said in a statement to AFP.

Iran Rules out Prospect of an Interim Nuclear Agreement in Vienna
Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Monday, January 10, ruled out an interim agreement with world powers, as the sides continue their talks in Vienna aimed at returning to the 2015 nuclear accord.

A spokesman for the ministry, Saeed Khatibzadeh, said Tehran is “looking for a lasting and credible agreement, and no agreement without these two components is on our agenda.”

He added: “We all need to make sure that the return of the United States [to the deal is accompanied by verification and the receipt of guarantees, and that a lifting of sanctions must take place. These are not achieved by any temporary agreement.”

On Sunday, January 9, Iran’s foreign minister said talks with world powers to revive the nuclear accord were approaching a “good agreement” but reaching one soon depends on the other parties.

“The initiatives of the Iranian side and the negotiations that have taken place have put us on the right track,” Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said.

“We are close to a good agreement, but to reach this good agreement in the short term, it must be pursued by the other side,” state news agency IRNA quoted him as saying.

Negotiations to restore the nuclear deal resumed in late November after they were suspended in June as Iran elected a new, ultra-conservative government.

The Islamic Republic is seeking to improve its missile and drone capability to tap into the latest technology from Russia and China and learn how to get around the latest air-defense systems, according to Iranian military analysts.

Technical Malfunction Behind Deadly IDF Helicopter Crash
The military believes a serious technical malfunction caused the crash of an Israel Navy helicopter off the coast of Haifa on Monday night, January 3. Two IAF pilots died after their helicopter, an Atalef AS565 Panther, went down around 9 p.m.

The crash was likely due to a fire that broke out in the left engine, IAF OC Operations Brig.-Gen. Amir Lazar said. The crew was able to lower to an altitude to carry out an emergency landing on the sea after the fire caused a power failure, which is likely why they were unable to make a distress call, he said.

It took one and a half to two minutes from when a fire was noticed in the engine to when the helicopter crashed, Lazar said. The crew was able to deploy the flotation devices that gave the navy the ability to locate the helicopter.

The officer who survived the crash, Capt. Ron Birman called the squadron commander from his telephone and told him they had made an emergency landing at sea. Birman made an unsuccessful attempt to rescue the other crew members, Lazar said.

It is still unclear why the two pilots were unable to exit the helicopter, and the exact cause of their deaths is yet to be determined.

Soccer Fans in Belgium Do Nazi Salutes, Chant About Killing Jews
Dozens of soccer fans in Antwerp, Belgium, were filmed giving Nazi salutes while chanting about Hamas and gassing and burning Jews. Police are investigating the videos, which appeared on social media earlier this week. The incident appeared to have taken place at or outside Café Stadion, a restaurant near a soccer stadium.

NATO Spy Plane Forced Flight from Tel Aviv to Dive to Avoid Catastrophe
A US spy plane forced a civilian aircraft that took off from Israel to dive toward the ground to avoid a mid-air collision above the Black Sea, Russia said.

On Friday morning, December 3, a NATO CL600 reconnaissance aircraft descended rapidly across the planned route for an Aeroflot plane from Tel Aviv to Moscow with 142 people on board, Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency said in a statement.

The Aeroflot flight reportedly had to drop 500 meters (1,600 feet) to keep its distance from the reconnaissance aircraft, which the pilots saw from the cockpit with the naked eye.

A second plane, a smaller CL650 aircraft, flying from the Black Sea resort Sochi to Skopje, the capital of Northern Macedonia, also had to divert to avoid the spy plane, the Russian air transport authority said Saturday, December 4.

“The direction and altitude of the commercial flights were immediately altered” to avoid a collision, the agency said, adding that the unknown plane did not respond to radio calls from air traffic control.

“Increased activity by NATO aircraft near Russia’s borders, including above the Black Sea, creates a risk of dangerous accidents involving civilian aircraft,” the agency said.

The incident came as tensions rise between Russia and Western nations, which accused Moscow of massing troops on its border with Ukraine in preparation for a possible invasion.

Russia has denied it has any such plans, in turn accusing NATO countries of “provocations” including military exercises near its borders.

Israeli Prime Minister Urges Countries to Take a Hardline Stance on Iran
Israel tapped the U.S. and other countries to take a hardline stance against Iran as the countries deliberate reviving the failed nuclear deal.

On Sunday, December 5, Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett urged countries to be wary when dealing with Iran, stressing Iran cannot continue to violate agreements while trying to negotiate new ones.
Bennett’s sentiments came after deliberations in Vienna ended in a stalemate with U.S. and foreign negotiators reporting Iran had taken a hardline stance of its own.
He said, “We got an example of the nuclear blackmail I was talking about when, during the Vienna talks, it was published that they (the Iranians) began enriching uranium to 20 percent in advanced centrifuges in the underground facility of Fordow,” said the Israeli Prime Minister. “This is a very serious stage.

China, Russia Shocked by Iran's Intransigence
A senior US State Department official said that Iran had proven it was "not serious" about the negotiations to return to the 2015 nuclear deal.

"As you all know, we’ve been waiting patiently for five and a half months. The Iranian government said that it needed time to get ready to resume the talks on a mutual return to compliance with the JCPOA, and I think what we’ve seen over the last week or so is what getting ready meant for them. And more importantly, not only did we see it, I think our partners and others – Russia, China, others – have seen – have witnessed what Iran meant by getting ready," the official told reporters.

"It meant continuing to accelerate their nuclear program in particularly provocative ways, and their latest provocation as reported by the IAEA only on Wednesday, i.e. while we were still in the middle of talks, was to prepare for the doubling of their production capacity of 20 percent enriched uranium at Fordow. What getting ready meant was to continue to stonewall the IAEA despite efforts – again, by all of the P5+1 – constructive efforts to find a way forward between Director General Grossi and Iran.”

He continued to say, "Secretary Blinken has said we can’t accept a situation in which Iran accelerates its nuclear program and slow-walks its nuclear diplomacy. That’s not a situation with which we or others can live. So… in terms of the next steps, I think what’s clear is that – again, and we’ve heard this not just from our traditional partners, we’ve heard this from the Russians, we’ve heard this from the Chinese, we certainly have heard it from the GCC countries when a U.S. delegation visited there not long ago – the world is prepared to support a mutual return to compliance by both sides. The world is prepared even to engage economically with Iran and diplomatically with Iran. But for that, Iran has to show seriousness at the table and be prepared to come back in short order in compliance with the deal, as the U.S. has said that it is prepared to do and as President Biden has said he is prepared to do and to stay in compliance with the deal as long as Iran is.” (INN / VFI News)

The NIS 3.5 billion ($1.1 billion) project has taken over three years to complete and is meant to end the threat of cross-border attack tunnels from the Palestinian enclave, which the Strip’s Hamas rulers have utilized to deadly effect.

“This barrier, a creative, technological project of the first order, denies Hamas one of the capabilities that it tried to develop and puts a wall of iron, sensors, and concrete between it and the residents of the south,” Defense Minister Benny Gantz said at the ceremony on Tuesday afternoon.

Construction of the barrier was a massive industrial undertaking, requiring some 1,200 workers, the removal of 330,000 trucks’ worth of sand, dirt, and rocks, two million cubic meters of concrete, and enough rebar that if laid out in a single line would reach Australia, according to Brig. Gen. Eran Ofir, who oversees the construction of defensive barriers for the Defense Ministry.

The 40-mile (65-kilometer) barrier lies all along the Gaza border and extends out to sea to ensure that terror groups in the Strip do not dig underwater tunnels, as they have attempted in the past.

The barrier is made up of several components: an underground reinforced concrete wall that is studded with sensors to detect tunnels; a 20-foot (six-meter) steel fence; a network of radar arrays and other surveillance sensors; and remote-controlled weaponry. (TOI / VFI News)

An Iranian diplomat has been accused of plotting to bomb a huge French political event attended by President Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani — but invoked immunity to avoid attending the start of his trial Friday.

Assadollah Assadi, 48, is accused of masterminding the attempted attack on a June 2018 meeting in Paris of one of Iran’s exiled opposition movements, which was attended by politicians from the UK and US, including Trump allies.

It was only thwarted after Belgian police stopped a Mercedes allegedly on the way to France carrying 550 grams of the so-called “Mother of Satan” TATP explosive and a detonator.

Lawyers for one of the alleged targets, the exiled Mujahedeen-e-Khalq opposition group, or MEK, insisted the plot was on “orders from Tehran,” which “authorized the death of thousands of people.”

Israeli Airstrike in Syria Kills 19 Pro-Iran Fighters
Airstrikes likely carried out by Israel killed at least 19 pro-Iran militia fighters in war-torn eastern Syria, a war monitor said Thursday.

The early morning strikes hit positions of Iran-backed militias outside the town of Albu Kamal in Deir Ezzor province, killing mostly Pakistani fighters, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

Syrian state media did not report the attack and Israel rarely acknowledges individual strikes, but the Observatory has accused the Jewish state of launching at least two other aerial attacks against pro-Iran forces in Syria since Saturday.

Early on Wednesday, at least eight Iran-backed fighters were killed in strikes near Damascus and in southern Syria, according to the war monitor, which is based in the UK but relies on a network of sources inside Syria.

Israeli Officials Grapple with Vaccine Incentives
Although Health Ministry Director Hezy Levy yesterday insisted to reporters that "we won't force people to take a vaccine. Israeli law doesn't allow for it," speaking before the Special Knesset Coronavirus Committee chaired by MK Yifat Shasha-Biton, Sheba Medical Center Chief Medical Officer and Chief Innovation Officer Dr. Eyal Zimlichman listed measures that are being planned to "maneuver" the population into vaccinating as a way of regaining freedom of movement.

The issue of how to "motivate" vaccine compliance has generated increasing interest, with commentators such as Mike Cernovich writing: "Government won’t force you to take the vaccine. Amazon will. Airlines will. Banks will. You won’t be able to buy, sell, or trade without the vaccine."

Israel May Close West Bank Crossings to Palestinian Areas amid Virus Surge
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Wednesday that he was ordering the government to examine the possibility of closing the crossings to West Bank areas under Palestinian Authority control due to a surge in coronavirus cases among Palestinians.

“Because of the dramatic surge in infection in the Palestinian Authority, I have directed the government to immediately analyze the option of closing the crossings to Palestinian areas,” Netanyahu wrote on Twitter.
Palestinians saw a record-shattering 1,811 new confirmed coronavirus infections between Monday and Tuesday as the pandemic worsened in both the West Bank and Gaza. Israeli Mom-Son Team Set to Become World’s 1st Producer of Oral Insulin
An Israeli company has started final-stage tests of its oral insulin, bidding to become the first to make the product available on the international market.

The product started phase three trials under the US Food and Drug Administration in California on Monday, after 14 years of development. If all goes well, Oramed Pharmaceuticals says it expects type 2 diabetics to start taking its pills in just over three years, followed by type 1 diabetics after further testing.

Terror Cell Behind IEDs is Unit 840 of Iran's Quds Force
The terrorist cell responsible for anti-personnel mines and other improvised explosive devices (IEDs) on the Golan Heights is being operated by Iran’s Quds Force, according to the IDF. The Syrian cell, known as Unit 840, is a relatively secretive operational unit that plans terrorist infrastructure outside Iran against Western targets and opposition groups, the IDF said.

The anti-personnel mines discovered on Monday were planted several weeks ago by local Syrians under the command of the Quds Force, IDF Spokesman Brig.-Gen. Hidai Zilberman said.
Over the past few months, the IDF has been tracking Quds Force cells that have been trying to plant IEDs near the border, he said. Patrols by soldiers, drones and reconnaissance are being employed to prevent attacks, he added.

Pompeo: All Options are On the Table to Stop Iran

Israel Warns Lebanon Talks May have Stalled
Israel has accused Lebanon of changing its position in talks on their disputed maritime border and warned it could lead to a "dead end" that would be damaging for the whole region. The two countries,  which remain technically at war, opened negotiations on the border dispute under US and UN auspices last month to clear the way for offshore oil and gas exploration.

"Lebanon has changed its stance on its maritime border with Israel seven times," Israeli Energy Minister Yuval Steinitz tweeted late Thursday.

"Its current position contradicts not only its previous one but also Lebanon's stance on its maritime border with Syria, which takes into account Lebanese islands close to the border," Steinitz said.

Cross Border Attack Tunnel was Deepest Ever Found
The Hamas tunnel that stretched several meters into Israel and was discovered by the IDF last month near Kissufim forest was the deepest tunnel ever dug. While the military is not certain as to what as to what its purpose was, it believes that it was intended to test the underground barrier or to be used for a cross-border raid by the terror group though not necessarily to abduct Israeli troops or civilians.
It was only dug recently and was not one of 20 terror tunnels used by Hamas and Islamic Jihad and destroyed by the IDF since the end of the last war between Israel and Gaza in 2014.
