Superficial Salvation Empty Superficial Salvation

Superficial Salvation

Definition--------Being On The Surface.,Shallow,Apparent rather than actual,,,,Trivial.

1 Peter 2:2, 1st Corinthians 3:1-3, Revelation 3:15-16, 19, Ephesians 6:10-12.

To the world, a person with Superficial Salvation, is like a person with no salvation at all.He has no effective prayer life,he has no effective witness to his community, and he has no systematic plan for studying the scripture. He may attend church, and he may be a nice person, but to the world,he appears the same as the man who is totally without Christ. To many, if they recognize him as a christian at all, they see him as a hypocrite,or a person who professes something he does not possess. He only pretends. Many Christians see this type of Christian as a hypocrite as well .

READ ROMANS 2 :1-3. This is sort of a rabbit trail, however, Many times,we hear that we are not to judge someone. We are told to not judge someone else's actions.I PERSONALLY feel that this is mainly speaking of judging someone else as to their Christianity. The first divine standard of judgement is truth. God is called the God of Truth. As a result, when God's judgement of people is declared to be based on truth, no escape from that judgement is possible for anyone. The Word tells us ALL have sinned. We do not have the right to judge others. One may be moral and he may even judge his contemparies, as totally enmeshed in a deprived lifestyle, but yet he is judged by God because he does the same things. The word tells us we break one commandment, and we have broken them all, however, this is another lesson. All sin is still sin.

A person may appear superficial at anytime during his christian walk. When he stops working, witnessing, and becomes slack in his worship, he can slip into superficiality quiet easily.Things of the world become more important than his christian walk.An example is, when someone regularly attends church, it is easy to do so. The first time os so you miss, you probably feel guilty or just miss going. The more you miss, the easier it becomes. Suddenly, over time, you are attending less and less.

Some people feel that their work is done when they walk down the aisle. They never get off the ground in their new life in Christ. A child who had fallen out of bed once said,"I must have fallen asleep too near where I got in". That discribes some new christians walk. Without doing the things the Holy Spirit impresses upon you to do, you will have a superficial salvation type of experience, and you will never show any christian growth.

Christians do sin (1 John 1:8), but the Christian life is not to be identified by a life of sin. Believers are a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). We have the Holy Spirit in us producing good fruit (Galatians 5:22-23). A Christian life should be a changed life. Christians are forgiven no matter how many times they sin, but at the same time Christians should live a progressively more holy life as they grow closer to Christ. We should have serious doubts about a person who claims to be a believer yet lives a life that says otherwise. Yes, a true Christian who falls back into sin is still saved, but at the same time a person who lives a life controlled by sin is not truly a Christian.
