Kenya Part 2

Prayer Needs

Nominalism within the church is major issue, it is reckoned that less than 10% of Christian's attend church on a regular basis. Please pray that Christian's would be disciples and mature into true servant of Christ.

There has been massive growth in new independent churches, but this can lead to problems as there are dangers with integrity both in spiritual and in financial matters. Please pray that these new churches would hold close to biblical truth in all things.

Please pray that real spiritual unity gets beyond tribal and cultural boundaries and is a glowing light that all Kenyans can see.

Please pray that Pastors would have godly training and that they would be grounded soundly in God's word. Please pray for all pastors in Kenya, especially my dear brothers Pastor Alex Masika and Pastor Albert as they lead their churches. Please pray that all pastors and leaders in Kenya, would be examples to their churches, just like Apostle Paul was to the early churches.

Vision 2010 wants to see a church in every single village in Kenya. Please pray that the church would have real vision to accomplish this task.

Thank God for such initiatives as Finish the task and Afriserve. Please pray that the goals set out in these plans would be accomplished.

For the church to catch a vision to reach out not only to every area and group in Kenya, but to reach out to all over Africa.

Please pray for the foreign missionary force in Kenya, they are now in more of a support role, working alongside Kenyans. Please pray for these people and ask the Lord that they would bring glory to Him.

Far, we ask that your church, would catch a vision of reaching out, not only to Kenya, but to the whole of Africa. We ask that your revival power, would seep through your church and allow it to go forward victorious.

In the mighty name of Jesus

Amen

God bless you

Thanks for praying

Keith

1. Update: Brutalized teenage believer in Sudan prays for forgiveness for her tormentors
(Source: International Christian Concern)

A young Sudanese Christian teenager who was kidnapped, sexually assaulted and physically attacked over the course of one year is praying that her former captors, a gang of Muslims who tried to force her to convert to Islam, find mercy.

After escaping last July, she says she is praying that Jesus reveals himself to her assailants, and "forgives them for what they did to me." Hiba Abdelfadil Anglo says she escaped from them with the help of God who did not want her to suffer any more (for more information, go to www.persecution.net/su-2011-08-11.htm). "I want to thank God who saved me from the hands of the abductors," said Hiba just two months after she escaped. "I also thank God for all believers all over the world for their prayers for me and my family. It was because of your prayers that my situation changed."

Hiba, who missed one year of school due to the abduction, is in school again, but her widowed mother lost her job after taking time to search for her daughter, so the financial burdens are a strain.

Please pray that Hiba's physical and emotional wounds will be healed and that she will succeed in her studies and grow in her faith. Please pray that her captors' knees will bend before Jesus, and that they will turn to the one true God in repentance. Pray that God will strengthen and embolden the Church in Sudan.

To post a prayer of solidarity with Hiba, please visit our Persecuted Church Prayer Wall at www.persecution.net/prayerwall. To learn more about how Sudanese believers suffer for Christ's sake, go to www.persecution.net/sudan.htm.

2. Update: Bomber of Christian family in the West Bank deemed fit to stand trial
(Source: VOM-USA)

An American-born man who bombed the home of a Messianic Jewish family in the West Bank has been declared fit to stand trial. Yaakov "Jack" Teitel, 39, stands accused of planting a bomb in the home of Pastor David Ortiz in 2008 (for more information, visit www.persecution.net/ps-2009-11-04.htm). Teitel, who has been dubbed the "Jewish terrorist," is also charged with the murder of two Palestinians and with other serious offenses.

Teitel's lawyers had tried to argue that he was not mentally competent, but a district court judge in Jerusalem ruled that the married father of four is fit for trial. He emigrated from Florida to Israel in 2000, and in March 2008, Teitel attempted to murder 15-year-old Ami Ortiz, the son of a Messianic Jewish couple in Ariel, by allegedly placing a bomb in a Purim gift basket at the Ortiz's home. The bomb, believed to be intended for Ami's father, exploded when the teenager opened it, and he was severely burned and injured by shrapnel. The trial is scheduled to begin in several weeks.

Please pray that Ami will continue to heal and that all the victims of Teitel's violence will be comforted. Pray that authorities will act justly in this case. Pray that Teitel will repent and come to know the Lord Jesus Christ.

For more information on the opposition facing Christians in the West Bank, go to www.persecution.net/palestine.htm.

3. Buddhists oust believers from their homes in Nepal
(Source: VOM-USA)

Buddhists in Nepal drove a pastor and other believers from their village, accusing the pastor of bringing a foreign religion to the village and promoting teachings against society. The oppressors accused Christians in the village of using bribery and coercion to covert local residents to Christianity. It is also believed a six-year-old girl was sexually abused by one of the individuals who incited the expulsion. A VOM worker has helped the victims resettle in another village and also prayed with the family of the girl who was abused.

Pray that the passion these believers have for Christ will be the light that draws others to Jesus (Matthew 5:14-16). Pray for healing for the girl who was abused. Please pray that hostility against Christians in Nepal will cease and that believers will be allowed to live and worship freely.

Please visit www.persecution.net/nepal.htm for more on the trials believers face in Nepal.

4. Three Iranian pastors report to prison
(Source: VOM-USA)

Three pastors, who are also husbands and fathers of young children, have been ordered to report to prison in Shiraz, Iran.

Pastor Parviz Khalaj, a husband and father to a 10-year-old son, was convicted of committing crimes against the order and was sentenced to two years in prison. Pastor William Belyad who was convicted of the same crime, was sentenced to five years in prison and will be taken away from his wife and one-month-old son. William's wife, Nazly, was arrested with him but has not been called to serve a sentence yet. Pastor Behrouz Sadegh Khandjani, a husband and father to a seven-year-old daughter, was sentenced to one year in prison for the same conviction. Another pastor, Mehdi Foroutan, was arrested at the same time and has already reported to prison (for more, go to www.persecution.net/ir-2011-11-03.htm).

Please pray that these brothers will remain faithful and will be soon returned to their families. Please pray for strength and peace for their wives and children. Praise God that William's wife, Nazly, has not been called to prison. Ask God to be near to those suffering in prison for His name's sake.

Post  Admin Sat 17 Dec 2011, 7:10 pm

n this week's edition: reports from Philippines, Iran, Iraq, Nigeria and India.
***********************************

1. Church elder killed in Mindanao, Philippines
(Source: VOM-USA)

MacArthur Arbado, an elder at the Bible Baptist Church in Carmen, Cotabato, was murdered on November 10 as he returned to his farm. The attackers shot him in the leg, back and abdomen before decapitating him with his own machete. MacArthur leaves behind his wife, Lolita, and 13 children.

Although his farm was surrounded by land owned by Muslims, he had a good relationship with his neighbours. He learned to speak their language and was called "uncle" by many. Often his Muslim friends tried to convert him to Islam, but he stood firm in his faith and talked with them about Christianity. MacArthur's killers are thought to be members of a separatist Muslim group in the area. VOM has met with MacArthur's family and provided some assistance.

Please pray that God will comfort Lolita, her children, and the church. Pray that, as sufferings overflow, their comfort in Christ will be more than enough for them (2 Corinthians 1:5). Pray that the perpetrators of this attack will repent and turn to Jesus Christ.

To post a prayer of encouragement for these believers, visit our Persecuted Church Prayer Wall at www.persecution.net/prayerwall. To learn more about persecution in the Philippines, please visit www.persecution.net/philippines.htm.

2. Officials in Iran frantically deny spread of the gospel
(Source: Mohabat News)

The Iranian media is desperate to refute claims that Christianity is spreading among Iranian youth and through cities considered to be almost exclusively Islamic. The government-supported Jomhouri-e-Eslami daily newspaper is calling the spread of Christianity an unfounded rumour, but there are definite contradictions in fact to this statement. On October 2, the government-supported news website, Javan-Online, acknowledged that the acceptance of Christianity was becoming a trend and reported 200 house churches were discovered in just a few months in the traditionally Islamic city of Mashhad.

Many high ranking government officials and Islamic religious leaders have also made statements expressing concern over the spread of Christianity. Ayatollah Jafar Sobhani, a prominent Islamic theologian and writer, publicly spoke about the conversion of 600 people to Christianity in the city of Neishabour, according to a local newspaper in the Southern Khoarasan Province. The Head of the Ministry of Intelligence in Iran, Heydar Moslehi, also warned the heads of education in Iran about the spread of Christianity in schools.

Moslehi also cryptically announced there will be a new effort to fight the growth of house churches in Iran, and there are serious concerns that this Christmas season could bring intense persecution for Christians. Last Christmas season, authorities from the Ministry of Intelligence raided house churches and the homes of believers in Iran arresting hundreds of Christians (for more information, visit www.tinyurl.com/83djtzm).

Please pray that this Christmas season believers throughout Iran will be protected. Pray that God will grant them safety as they celebrate the arrival of our Saviour. Pray that God will bless and strengthen the faith of new converts to Christianity.

3. Christians in Iraq's Kurdish region under siege
(Source: Compass Direct News)

Christian-owned businesses were burned to the ground earlier this month as unprecedented violence erupted against Christians in Iraq's Kurdish region. Local sources say the attacks were organized by a pro-Islamic political party. The attackers waved flags that said, "There Is No God but Allah," according to Ankawa News.

A sermon by a mullah claiming there was moral corruption in the northern town of Zakho seemed to be the trigger for a group of young Muslim men to attack the businesses, according to the news outlet. The following day, two more Christian neighbourhoods were attacked with businesses being burned, and the attacks, reportedly organized by the Kurdistan Islamic Union party, continued in other nearby regions for several days as well.

Pray that God will sustain and encourage believers who lost property in these attacks. Pray for lasting peace in this area. Pray that increased persecution will result in increased boldness among believers in Iraq (Acts 4:29-31).

Go to www.persecution.net/iraq.htm to learn more about Iraq's suffering Church.

This Christmas, fellow believers can help bring joy to brothers and sisters in Iraq through our Christmas Blessing project. For $50, a special package that contains daily necessities, such as a blanket, sugar, rice, tomato paste, powdered milk, and cooking oil -- as well as a Bible -- will be delivered to encourage believers as they live and minister in a hostile environment. To be a blessing to Christians in Iraq this Christmas, please phone our office or donate securely online at www.persecution.net/donate.

4. Nigerian believers killed and property destroyed by Muslim herdsmen and soldiers
(Source: Compass Direct News)

At least 45 Christians were murdered by Muslim herdsmen and soldiers in Nigeria in late November. Unfounded allegations of cattle theft preceded the attacks, according to Christian leaders in Plateau state, and thousands of vulnerable and unarmed Christians fled the area in fear, leaving churches largely empty on the Sunday following the attacks. Homes were burned, churches were closed and many Christians were also maimed or injured. Muslims were also reportedly moving onto the farms belonging to the Christians who had fled and were destroying their crops. Witnesses say Fulani Muslim herdsmen were shouting, "Allahu Akbar," which means, "God is greater."

During the same time, Muslim extremists helped members of the Islamic terrorist sect Boko Haram destroy five church buildings in Nigeria's increasingly dangerous Yobo state in late November, displacing about 700 Christians. Previously in neighbouring Bauchi state, Islamic radicals killed four Christians, including three girls. Boko Haram seeks to impose a stricter version of Sharia (Islamic law) than that already in place in northern Nigeria to expand it to the rest of the country.

Please pray that violence against Christians in Nigeria will cease and that churches will once again be filled. Pray that all who witness God's provision and protection will turn to Christ. Pray that God will bring verses of Scripture to mind that will comfort those who are grieving (Psalm 119:49-56).

5. Update: Falsely imprisoned pastor released in India
(Source: Global Council of Indian Christians)

Reverend C.M. Khanna, who was arrested and imprisoned on false charges of forced conversion in the Kashmir Valley in India in October, was granted bail by the Srinagar court and has been released from jail.

When Rev. Khanna could not help a Muslim cleric, the Grand Mufti, obtain admission for a student into one of the schools run by the Church of North India (CNI), it is believed the Grand Mufti retaliated by summoning the Christian to appear before the Sharia court on false charges of forced conversion based on video evidence of a routine baptism ceremony in his church. The seven newly baptized Christians had also previously been detained and beaten (for more, go towww.persecution.net/in-2011-11-24.htm). Rev. Khanna appeared before the Sharia court in the interests of communal harmony in the Kashmir Valley, even though he was not legally bound in any way to appear before a Muslim court in a secular country like India. The arrest of Rev. Khanna has caused great fear among believers, however, say local sources.

Please pray that Reverend Khanna's courage and faith during his ordeal will be a testimony to others. Pray that efforts to win more souls for Christ will be blessed. Pray that God will soften the hearts of those opposed to the gospel in Kashmir Valley.

For more information on India's suffering believers, please visit www.persecution.net/india.htm.

Kenya Part 1

Location East Africa

Population 40 Million

Capital Nairobi

Evangelical Population 19.9 million

Praise

Kenya is a stable centre for Christian ministry. Thank God for the large number of Christian agencies/missions in Kenya.

There is a large evangelical presence. Thank God that the gospel has been received in this country and that many call themselves Born Again.

The missions vision of Kenyan believers is outstanding.. not just within the country, but they are moving out to all of Africa.

Prayer Needs

Ethnic Violence struck the country in 2007-08 and it is always near the surface. Please pray that the power of the gospel and the compassionate love of believers, would be the tools to repair the brokenness that occurred during this violence. May the Christian's, truly be salt, love and light to their country.

Corruption is rampant in every area of society. Please pray that Christian's, would take a stand against this and that all believers would have the highest standards in all they do.

Pray for a government that promotes fairness, justice and gives a strong moral lead to the country.

Please pray that Christian's of holiness and purity would be elected to positions of authority in the Nation.

The church has had many revivals especially in the East African revival of 1948-60, but now needs God to move in a powerful new way. Please pray that the wind of Holy Spirit Revival, would flood through the church and would transform the church and that it would effect the whole of Kenyan Society.

International drug cartels are now seeking to use Kenya is a hub for their operations. Please pray for Christian and Government agencies seeking to stand against this evil.

Father, we thank you, that in days past, you have graciously sent revival on this land we now ask THAT YOU WOULD DO IT AGAIN...AMEN. Lord we ask that your Spirit would flow into your church and that it would be stirred and that in being stirred into action, it would shake and transform the nation, by sharing the truths of your gospel.

In Jesus Name
God bless you
Amen

Thanks for praying
Keith

Welcome to Prayer Focus

What a joy to share with you once again, as we continue to pray for the world.

This Island group is very small but important to God.. amen.

Please take time to pray and to share with all your prayer groups and friends, indeed please print this out and post on your church missions board.

Thanks

Keith

KIRIBATI

Location: Three Archipelagos situated in the Pacific. Gilbert, Rawaki and Line along with 33 coral atolls.

Capital Tarawa

Population 130,000

Evangelical Population 7,157

Prayer Needs

Revival.. the once strong Congregational church is now in terminal decline and needs a mighty move of God to sweep through it, to burn of f the nominalism and liberal theology that has caused it's decline.

The church is growing, but often this is short term. Pray that there is a return to biblical Christianity.

Many Kiribati's immigrate to find work in Nauru and to work as seamen on foreign ships. Please pray that they would find Christ and return to their homeland to spread the gospel, they often returned scarred and with Aids.

Young people face unemployment and a decline in moral standards. Please pray for a move of God amongst the young and that new ways of reaching them would be found to reach them with the gospel.

The whole of these islands face disaster if sea levels continue to rise. Pray that these islanders would be spared disaster and that they would be reminded that it is God who holds the future and Loves them deeply.

Father in the Name of Jesus, we ask for these islands and thank you, that you love all people. We ask that you would move in these islands. Lord we ask that your spirit would do a mighty work amongst these people. We commit to pray for them and covet these islands for you and for your glory.

In Jesus Name

Amen

God bless you and thanks

Keith

Prayer Focus with Keith - Page 4 Empty Re: Prayer Focus with Keith

Post  Admin Sat 10 Dec 2011, 2:10 pm

In this week's edition: reports from Uzbekistan, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka
***********************************

1. Illegal prosecutions and punishments in Uzbekistan
(Source: Forum 18 News Service)

Sergei Kozin has been fined 80 times the minimum monthly wage after a police raid on a group of Baptists in Sergeli District near Tashkent, Uzbekistan, in July. The case was brought forward even though it was beyond the legal time limit to bring charges. Baptists stated that the case was fabricated, with the alleged witness not producing the required identity documents. The judge in the case had noted the lack of evidence and legal documents produced by police.

In another case, after being summoned to a police station for questioning on October 16, two schoolgirls stopped coming to a church. The police threatened them that "they will be in police records and thrown out of school."

The next month, five officials raided a home in Fergana without a search warrant on November 19. When the wife of the occupant refused the officials entry, they pushed her out of the way and confiscated about 100 Christian books, DVDs and a computer.

Please pray for Christians in Uzbekistan who are continually targeted by authorities. Pray the Lord will give believers wisdom when dealing with those who oppose their Christian activities. Pray the Church will continue to grow in spite of restrictions.

To learn more about the suffering Church in Uzbekistan, please visit www.persecution.net/uzbekistan.htm.

2. Bomb attack targets Christians in Nepal
(Source: Compass Direct News)

Two years after an explosion shook one of the biggest Catholic churches in Nepal and killed three people, the underground group that orchestrated the attack claimed responsibility for another bomb blast in November (for more on the 2009 attack, go to www.persecution.net/np-2009-06-03.htm).

A crude bomb went off on November 22 in front of a leading Christian charitable organization's office in the capital city, sowing fresh fear and insecurity among Christians. Thankfully, there were no casualties. At the site, police found leaflets signed by someone calling himself a senior member of the Nepal Defence Army, a militant armed group that has terrorized Christians and Muslims, demanding that they leave Nepal. The leaflets asserted that the majority population in Nepal was Hindu and that therefore it should be a Hindu state. The leaflets also accused the charitable organization of converting Hindus to Christianity.

On the same day in the north-eastern district of Sindhupalchowk, local residents of the predominantly Buddhist village of Danchhe assaulted two brothers for leading worship services at their home, leaving one unconscious.

Ask God to grant courage and boldness of faith to Christians in Nepal. Pray that believers in Nepal will exemplify the love of God through consistent love and prayer for those who persecute them (Matthew 5:43-48). Pray for lasting peace in Nepal.

To post a prayer of solidarity with Christians in Nepal, visit our Persecuted Church Prayer Wall atwww.persecution.net/prayerwall. Please visit www.persecution.net/nepal.htm for more on the trials believers face in Nepal.
***********************************

3. Death threats for evangelist challenging injustice in Pakistan
(Source: Release International)

A Pakistani Christian has received death threats after condemning the murder of a Christian government minister who was killed for opposing the blasphemy laws.

Evangelist Arif Ferguson, 36, and his entire family have had to go into hiding following death threats from militants. Arif was first warned after sharing the Gospel among Muslims. More serious death threats followed after he made a statement to a local newspaper condemning the assassination in March of Minorities Minister Shahbaz Bhatti, who had spoken up against the blasphemy law (for more, go to www.persecution.net/pk-2011-03-03.htm). Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan claimed responsibility for killing Shahbaz Bhatti, and the same group is now threatening Arif.

Arif, a laboratory technician, fled to Karachi after being tipped off that the militants were trying to track him down. But even there he received death threats, forcing the family of nine to go into hiding again. Arif and his sisters have lost their jobs as a result. Arif shared, "I trust in Jesus. If I die, it will be for Christ."

Please pray for Arif and his family -- for their protection, support and encouragement. Pray the Lord will provide for them. Pray their faithful testimony will be an encouragement to other believers.

For more on Pakistan's persecuted Christians, visit www.persecution.net/pakistan.htm.
***********************************

4. Hardliners make new push for anti-conversion laws in Sri Lanka
(Source: Release International)

Buddhist nationalists in Sri Lanka have caused concern among Protestant Christians by renewing their calls for anti-conversion laws. The Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) party, which has been pushing for legislation banning "forced conversion" since 2004, renewed its campaign in a press statement this month. It called on the government to re-introduce to Parliament the JHU'S Prohibition of Religious Conversions Bill.

Sources inside Sri Lanka say Christians are also concerned about a loosely worded circular from the Ministry of Religious Affairs issued in September which stipulates that building or maintaining places of worship must be sanctioned by prior approval of the Ministry. According to sources, evangelical churches in particular are facing increased pressure from the state, with "indiscriminate closure and threats." Their applications to register formally are routinely rejected, and there is evidence that planning permission is even being denied for non-church buildings if the applicant is a Christian individual or organization.

Pray that the JHU's bid to introduce anti-conversion laws in Sri Lanka will fail. Pray that officials will end discriminatory policies which limit the activities of some Christians. Ask God to bless and protect evangelical Christians and pray for all those working for religious freedom in Sri Lanka.

For more information on persecution in Sri Lanka, go to www.persecution.net/srilanka.htm.

Here is the second part of our focus on Kazakhstan. Please print these requests out, pray over them as families, place them on your church mission board. Let us create a wave of prayer like never before.

Please click on the featured page links at the bottom of this message.

Thanks

Keith

Kazakhstan Part 2

Please pray for the missionaries serving in the country. The government is very suspicious of foreigners.

Christian mercy missions such as Missions Agape, have had a great impact on this land. Please pray that the door remains open for these ministries to operate.

Literature needs to be produced especially in the native Kazakh language. Please pray that more would be produced especially for young people. Also pray that it would reach the people who need it, as distribution is difficult.

The Bible is in great demand in both Kazakh and Russian. The NT in Kazakh is complete and the OT will be shortly. Please pray that the word of God, would have a great effect on the country.

The alpha course is already having a great impact and there are bold plans to grow the network of courses further. Please pray for much fruit.

Large numbers of the population have seen the Jesus Film, as it is available in all the major languages. May the people of Kazakh come to trust the sweet name of Jesus.

Praise God that there are two local christian radio stations. Please pray for the preparation , production and broadcast of more Kazakh and Russian programmes.

Father we thank you, that you are doing a work of grace in this land. We ask that you would use all means to reach all people, so that Jesus is lifted High and Glorified.

In His Precious Name

Amen

God Bless you and thanks for Praying

Keith

Welcome to Prayer Focus

It is a real joy to share with you. I love doing prayer focus, simply because to pray for my brothers and sisters in Christ, is an absolute privilege.. amen.

Please print this out and keep it in your bible, share with your friends/prayer groups and church groups. Please place on your church notice board so others can see it.

The links at the bottom are put there for your benefit, I do hope you will take time to click on them

God bless you

Keith

KAZAKHSTAN

Location World's 9th Largest Country situated in Central Asia

Capital Astana

Population 16.5 Million

Evangelical Population 104,342

Answers to Prayer

The National Church continues to grow in terms of size and maturity. Please praise God for this. Two thirds of the Districts now have a Christian presence.

Praise God for the unity of the church. People from different backgrounds and cultures working and worshiping together.

Prayer Needs

Pray for a fair and stable government that allows the church to grow and that all hindrances to church growth would be removed.

Muslims are the majority and other countries have sought to extend the influence of Islam, by pouring money and resources into Kazakhstan. Christianity is perceived as the religion of the Russian Minority. Please pray that this misconception would be shattered.

Due to the cultural diversity in Kazakhstan, there are opportunities to reach out to many other peoples. Many Uzbek's and Uyghurs have come to Christ and have taken the gospel back to their own country. Pray for them as they do this.

Up till now the gospel has been largely confined to the cities, please pray that the Church would reach out to the countryside with it's network of villages. Plans are already in hand to do this. Please pray for much fruit and for the establishment of many churches.

There were several bible colleges and seminaries, but all have had to close due to changes in the Law. Please pray that they would be allowed to re-open. Also that new ways of training both Pastors and Lay People would be found.

Pray that relevant ways of worship would be found that identify with the Kazakh people. Also pray for more men to be converted .. only 26% of believers are men.

Please pray for the Pastors. they are under the most pressure.. uphold these dear servants of God in prayer.

Persecution is increasing, with fines and obstructive laws on the building of Churches. Pray that the believers would stand strong and not be discouraged.

Please pray that the church would grow together in Unity.

The Kazakh church is now becoming a sending church with missionaries going out to other countries in Central Asia. This land is very strategic for the gospel. Pray that the church would be mission minded, whilst not forgetting it's responsibility at home.

Father in the Precious Name of Jesus, we thank you that you are doing a mighty work of grace in this land and we ask that the door for the gospel remains open and that your church continues to grow in depth, maturity and unity. We stand with it and ask that it would uplift and glorify the Lord Jesus in everything it does.

In His Mighty Name

Amen

God Bless and thanks for praying

Keith

Italy Part 2

Prayer Needs

More than 70% of the Comuni, which can range from small villages to Cities, have no Evangelical Group. Pray that this would be remedied

Many areas of the country are spiritual wastelands, especially in need are:

Abruzzo, Fruili, Ligura, Marche, Molise, Trentino,, Umbria, Valle D'Aosta and Veneto.

There are nearly 2 million students in Italy, but only 30 small groups with only 300 students. Pray for these groups and their protection and Growth. In Milan alone, there is a student population of 175,000 with little specific outreach.

Sardinia, an island of nearly 2 million people, with only 30 evangelical groups. Please pray for the growth of the church on this island.

There are over 500,000 drug addicts in Italy. Both Bethel and Teen Challenge have outreaches to them. Please pray for these ministries.

Supportive Ministries

There are minority groups of Albanians and Greeks. Please pray that the church, would reach out to them

Muslims, these are mostly from North Africa. Please pray that the church, would wake up to the open door.

Romani, have flooded into Italy. Please pray for the establishment of a lively church among them, like there has been in Spain

Illegal Immigration, is a serious problem. Please pray that the church, would reach out to these displaced people

The need for workers is massive, but so is the casualty rate. Please pray that God would raise up a might army of workers to storm this country and win it for CHRIST.

Please pray for a deep hunger for God's Word among Italians. The Gideons are very active. Please pray for this ministry

Father in the precious name of Jesus, we ask that You would transform Italy. We ask that You would send revival on Your church and pour out Your Spirit and Your grace upon Your church, so that it is equipped to reach out.

Thanks for praying

God bless you

Welcome to Prayer Focus

What a joy to share with you and to share about Italy. I have decided to split the prayer points.. the second part will be coming shortly.

Please print these prayer points and share them with your prayer groups and anyone will join us in prayer for this needy country

Please also take time to click on the links at the bottom of this message

Thanks and God bless you

Italy

Capital: Rome

Area 300,000 sq km

Evangelical Population 633,000

Rate of Growth per year 1.9%

Praise points

Thank God for the rising tide of co-operation amongst believers

The influx of people from around the world has included many vibrant Christian's. This has Stirred the Italian Church, to reach out more to it's own congregation

Prayer Needs

Italy remains culturally catholic, even the reformation passed it by. Please pray that all barriers are removed to the gospel and that Italians would seek after Jesus as Saviour as never before.

Italy is still in the hold of many infamous crime networks, such as the Mafia. Please pray that this stronghold, would be broken down.

Millions of Italians are bound by dead tradition, within the Roman Catholic Church. Pray that the light of the glorious Gospel, would shine upon them.

There is an unhealthy interest in the occult. Please pray that this stronghold is defeated and that Jesus reigns over Italy.

Please pray for deep and lasting Revival within the church that brings unity between the Pentecostals and Established Churches, and that this revival would impact the whole of Italy

Praise God for these good signs

Groups such as Italy For Christ and Christ Is The Answer are having an increasing impact.

Missions vision is still small scale, but growing. Pray that many Italian believers, would reach out in corporate and personal witness.

Many new believers, have come to Italy from such places as Asia, Eastern Europe and South America. Pray that these believers, would stir and encourage the Italian Believers.

Please pray that many Italians would be called into Full time training to be Pastors and church workers.

Father, we ask that you would touch this great nation. We ask that everyone of Your children in Italy, would be filled to overflowing with the Power of Your Holy Spirit. We ask that You pour out Your Holy Spirit, and that Your Gospel, would change Italy.

Thanks for Praying

God bless you

Keith

Prayer Focus with Keith - Page 4 Empty Re: Prayer Focus with Keith

Post  Admin Sat 26 Nov 2011, 8:36 pm

In this week's edition: reports from Vietnam, Nigeria, Eritrea, India and Egypt.

***********************************

1. Believers beaten and belongings destroyed in Vietnam

(Source: Compass Direct News)

More than a dozen Christian men, women and teenagers were brutally beaten and their property destroyed near Hanoi, Vietnam, in what sources say was a religiously-motivated attack.

The Christian house church leaders, as well as other assembled believers, were severely injured during a gathering in the home of Pastor Nguyen Danh Chau in Lai Tao village. A gang burst into the home at 9:30 a.m. on November 13 and warned Nguyen that they would kill him if he continued gathering Christians, according to sources in Vietnam. The attackers then beat him until he lost consciousness.

The offenders smashed chairs, overturned a pulpit and tore a cross from the wall and threw it into a nearby pond. They also destroyed motorcycles owned by four of the pastors present, which was an enormous loss for them.

The believers are members with the Agape Baptist Church, an unregistered house church organization of about 2,200 believers who worship regularly in 38 congregations. The head of the Agape Baptist Church, Nguyen Cong Thanh, met with the injured and said all he could do was weep at the violence. "Why do they gratuitously beat servants of the Lord like this -- what crime have they committed, what enemies have they made?" he said. "All we want to do is gather people to worship and serve God and our fellowman."

Please pray that those beaten will make a full recovery and that the Agape Baptist Church will grow stronger despite the violence and oppression. Pray that the perpetrators of this attack will repent and look to Christ for salvation.

Go to www.persecution.net/vietnam.htm for more information on the suffering Church in Vietnam.

2. More than 130 Christians murdered by extremists in Nigeria's north this month

(Source: Compass Direct News)

A murderous, four-hour rampage in early November in the eastern region of northern Nigeria left 150 people dead -- at least 130 of them Christians, according to church sources. Ten church buildings were also bombed and hundreds of people are still missing after more than 200 members of the Islamic extremist Boko Haram sect stormed the Yobe state capital on November 4. The attacks by Boko Haram were motivated by anti-Christian sentiments. Witnesses say the terrorists asked Christians they met to recite the Islamic creed, and those who could not do so were instantly slaughtered.

The day before the terrorist attack, an armed Muslim gang not believed to be affiliated with Boko Haram, killed two Nigerian mothers and injured 12 others including an eight-year-old boy in a raid on a Catholic church in Kaduna state. "As these Muslims began shooting, they shot Mrs. Justina Isaac, a mother of three, who had all the while been hanging around by the window outside the church listening to my teachings in the church," said a Catholic seminary student who was leading worship at the time. "And when she was felled by the bullets, the cry of her baby attracted another woman, Mrs. Hassana Luka, who came out of her house close to the church to find out what the problem was, only to be killed too." The following night, the gang went on to attack a Christian village in the same area killing another Christian and injuring one other.

Please pray that those who are beating and killing Christians in northern Nigeria will see their sin and will turn to Jesus and repent. Pray that the Lord will protect Christians in the region and that the families of those murdered will find peace and comfort in Him.

3. Three Christians die in Eritrean military camps

(Source: Open Doors)

Denied their most basic needs for survival, three Christians have died in Eritrean military camps.

Two Christian women died in the Adersete Military Camp in western Eritrea, according to a local source, as they were confined in a dungeon-like cell intended for religious prisoners. Twenty-eight-year-old Terhase Gebremichel Andu and Ferewine Genzabu Kifly, 21, both employees of a wholesale store, were arrested during a prayer meeting in 2009 at a private home. After two years of physical military torture and the denial of medical care, the women succumbed to starvation and poor health.

Within weeks of these deaths, Angesom Teklom Habtemichel, a 26-year-old Christian, also died in an Eritrean military camp after serving two years. He contracted severe malaria but was denied medical treatment because of his written refusal to recant his Christian faith. He died one week later.

Eritrea has a history of severely mistreating Christians and is known as one of the worst nations for Christian persecution.

Please pray that the unwavering faith of Terhase, Ferewine and Angesom will be an example of Christ to unbelievers. Pray that those mourning will trust that, in Jesus, even death has lost its sting (1 Cor. 15:55). Pray that other Christians imprisoned in Eritrea will soon be released.

To share a prayer of love and support for those mourning, please visit our Persecuted Church Prayer Wall at www.persecution.net/prayerwall. For more information about suffering Christians in Eritrea, go to www.persecution.net/eritrea.htm.

4. Police detain, beat converts from Islam in India

(Source: Compass Direct News)

Seven newly baptized Christians were detained and beaten by police in India's Kashmir Valley, and arrests are expected for Christian leaders considered responsible for converting the former Muslims.

Police identified the converts and pastors from a video recording of the baptism obtained by Kashmir's grand mufti (the highest official of religious law), Bashir-ud-din Ahmad. The video was later posted on YouTube.

Ahmad alleged that Pastor Chander Mani Khanna of All Saints Church, whose church is affiliated with the Church of North India (CNI) denomination, was converting young Muslims by offering money. The mufti told media that the video is definitive evidence that Muslims were being "lured" to Christianity, although it only shows the baptism ceremony. The pastor said the Muslim youths had been coming to the church on their own initiative and wanted to take part in communion. Pastor Chander told them they had to follow a procedure if they wanted to join in the sacrament, and they expressed desire to be baptized.

Please pray that Pastor Chander will not be charged and that the young converts will remain steadfast in their faith. Pray that the gospel will spread throughout the region despite opposition and oppression.

For more information on India's suffering believers, please visit www.persecution.net/india.htm.

***********************************

5. Thousands of Egyptian Christians gather to pray for country

(Source: Dr. Wafik Wahba, Associate Professor of Global Christianity at Tyndale Seminary)

On November 11, an estimated 70,000 Christians gathered for worship and prayer at St. Simon Church (also called the Cave church) in Cairo, Egypt, while millions more around the globe watched the live broadcast on TV and the Internet. From 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning, Christians from varying denominations focused their prayers on repenting, forgiving, and dedicating themselves to live consecrated lives.

The prayer event, the largest of its kind in Egypt's modern history, comes during a tumultuous time for the country. In February, the former president was forced out of office and Egyptians have since faced continuing chaos, brutality, and frustration. The culmination of this sense of despair reached an unprecedented level on October 9, when at least 26 people were killed and hundreds more were injured when army personnel attacked a large gathering of predominately Christian protestors (for more, go to www.persecution.net/eg-2011-10-13.htm).

Elections for the next house of parliament are set to begin on November 28. The elected parliament will be entrusted with the task of drafting a new constitution and establishing a new government. There are currently 25 parties competing for the nearly 500 seats in parliament, contributing to the complexity of Egypt's election process. These parties vary from Islamic fundamentalists to Marxists. Christians and Muslims alike worry that their dreams of a free and democratic country that respects religious freedom will be undermined by Islamic extremism.

Despite the unrest and uncertainty, Christians in Egypt are looking to the Lord for protection and guidance. A prayer movement has been growing for the past few years and is now spreading to churches across the country.

Pray that Christians in Egypt will place their hope and trust in Jesus Christ, who has been given all authority in heaven and on earth (Matthew 28:18). Ask the Lord to bless and protect His children in Egypt. Pray for continued unity among believers. Pray for peaceful and just elections.

To learn more about persecution in Egypt, go to www.persecution.net/egypt.htm.

Location North East India

Population 25 Million

Evangelical population 2%

Prayer needs

This is one of the youngest states in India. Please pray that it would find it's true identity.

The state is rich in resources, but is underdeveloped. Conflict and violence are prevalent. Please pray that the government would be wise in dealing with these issues.

The church here has always been small, but is showing signs of real spiritual life. Severe opposition to this and severe persecution is now happening as demonic forces will oppose these steps forward. Please pray and bind these dark spiritual forces in Jesus Name.

Please pray for the many house churches that operate, that they would be clear on doctrine and that they would disciple the believers, as many believers cannot read or write.

This state is known as the Home of the tribals. The gospel is making progress, but every advance is opposed by the forces of darkness. Please pray that that the gospel's liberating power would touch many Dalits and that a powerful church would grow and mature among them.

Father we thank you that you are working in this new state and we thank you that you Holy Spirit is active. We ask that the church is Chhattisgarh is empowered with the power of the Holy Spirit and that your church grows in size and maturity and impacts all areas of this state, so that Jesus is lifted up and glorified.

DO I HEAR AN AMEN?

Thanks for praying

Post  Admin Sat 19 Nov 2011, 11:28 pm

In this week's edition: reports from Iran, Cuba, China, Pakistan and Iraq
***********************************

1. Update: Iranian pastor Youcef Nadarkhani to hear court's decision in December
(Source: Present Truth Ministries, Compass Direct News)

With his faith intact and his love for Christ steadfast, Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani remains in Lakan Prison in Iran charged with apostasy and sentenced to death. The Iranian government has denied the sentencing is based on apostasy despite abundant evidence to the contrary (for more, go to www.persecution.net/ir-2011-10-13.htm).

The court in Gilan is awaiting a response to their two letters of referral that were written to the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Khameini. Youcef's attorney has said the court will wait one month for a response. If they do not receive a response, they will issue a ruling sometime in mid-December.

According to a member of Pastor Youcef's denomination who requested anonymity, Youcef's health has deteriorated and he has undergone physical and psychological torture. "We know that he has been in extreme situations, and we consider that torture," the source said. "When you have spent time in a solitary cell unable to talk to others for a long time, or you are told you will be killed, this is also torture."

Please pray that Pastor Youcef will remain healthy and strong despite the burdens of imprisonment. Pray that the worldwide attention garnered by his persecution will increase pressure on Iranian officials to stop harassing and imprisoning Christians. Please pray that Youcef and his family will experience a peace that surpasses all understanding as they endure these trials (Philippians 4:7).

To post a prayer of support for Pastor Youcef and his family, visit our Persecuted Church Prayer Wall at www.persecution.net/prayerwall. For more on the trials believers face in Iran, go towww.persecution.net/iran.htm.
***********************************

2. Update: Formerly imprisoned pastor forced to remain in Cuba
(Source: Christian Solidarity Worldwide)

Confined to a country where the government has made it well known his presence is unwanted, a Cuban pastor and his family have been refused permission to leave despite the U.S. government's offer of asylum.

Pastor Omar Gude Perez served almost three years of a six-and-a-half year prison sentence on charges human rights watchers say were unjust. While he was in prison, his wife Kenia and their two children received an eviction notice from government officials in an attempt to remove the family from their home (for more information, go to www.persecution.net/cu-2010-04-22.htm). The family was granted asylum in the United States last July but have been informed by a government official that they will not be issued exit visas, which are required to leave the country.

Pastor Omar, who is a national leader in a fast-growing network of independent churches called the Apostolic Movement, was released from prison earlier this year but is prohibited from preaching or from travelling outside the city of Camaguey. He was charged with illicit economic activity and falsification of documents, and many say the unfounded charges are a direct result of his Christian activities. Other Apostolic Movement pastors have also been harassed and threatened with imprisonment and the closure of their churches.

Please pray that Pastor Omar and his family will continue to faithfully serve Christ wherever He leads them. Pray that, if it is the Lord's will, they will be able to leave Cuba for the United States. Please pray that governing authorities in Cuba will cease in their harassment of Christian leaders and that followers of Christ will remain steadfast in their faith.

To learn more about persecution in Cuba, visit www.persecution.net/cuba.htm.
***********************************

3. Chinese Bible exhibition called 'propaganda' by house church leaders
(Source: ChinaAid)

A deceptive exhibit in the United States that displays Chinese Bibles is causing North Americans to believe there is religious freedom in China, say three former Chinese house church leaders.

The Christian leaders, who were all imprisoned in China for their beliefs, voiced their disdain for the display while visiting the exhibition "Thy Word is Truth" on the campus of Dallas Theological Seminary. The exhibition has already been viewed in Washington, D.C. and Chicago.

On November 1, a forum regarding the exhibition was held at Northwest Bible Church in Dallas. The participants -- representatives of China's government-controlled church and two professors from Dallas Theological Seminary -- strongly supported the notion that China respects religious freedom and that scriptures are readily available to believers. However, this is simply not the case.

Despite the government-run Amity Press' reports that millions of Bibles have been published in China, about two-thirds of them are exported, leaving many Christians without a Bible (for more on the need for Bibles in China, go to http://tinyurl.com/chinaneedsbibles).

Please pray along with ChinaAid's founder and president, Bob Fu: "We hope and pray to our Lord Jesus Christ that China's house churches can soon be legally recognized, that all our brothers and sisters who are in prison for the sake of their faith would be quickly released, and that the Bible in China could be freely printed and transported."

For more on our suffering brothers and sisters in China, please visitwww.persecution.net/china.htm.

4. Update: Pakistani Christian charged with 'defiling the Qur'an' seeks bail
(Source: International Christian Concern)

Ruqqiya Bibi was sentenced to 25 years in prison for "defiling the Qur'an" by touching it with unwashed hands, and after spending eight months in prison, she is seeking bail. Her husband, Munir Masih, who was also imprisoned for the same crime, was released on bail in December of last year (for more information, please visit www.persecution.net/pk-2010-03-04.htm). At last report, the outcome of her November 10 hearing was unknown.

Please pray that Ruqqiya will be freed on bail and that her and her husband's convictions will be overturned. Ask the Lord to protect them from angry citizens who may attempt to harm them. Pray that the gospel message will be taken to every household in Pakistan, and that many will turn to Christ for their salvation.

Go to www.persecution.net/pakistan.htm for more information on persecution in Pakistan.

5. Be a blessing to your persecuted family in Iraq this Christmas

From the Tower of Babel, to the Jewish captivity, to modern-day wars with neighbouring countries, Iraq has experienced a turbulent history riddled with conflict.

The church in Iraq has not been spared from turmoil. Just this year, three churches were bombed (for more, go to www.persecution.net/iq-2011-08-25.htm), a Christian man was tortured and killed by militants (for more, please visit www.persecution.net/iq-2011-05-26.htm), and an elderly believer was stabbed to death (for details, go to www.persecution.net/iq-2011-03-03.htm).

Estimates claim that only half of Iraq's pre-2003 Christian community remains in the country. However, despite the risks, many have chosen to stay and witness.

This year, you can be a blessing to Christians in Iraq through our annual Christmas Blessing project. For $50, you can provide a Christmas Blessing package to a believer. Each package contains a Bible, a blanket, sugar, rice, tomato paste, powdered milk, and cooking oil. These items will help meet believers' materials and spiritual needs.

Prayer Focus with Keith - Page 4 Empty MY HEART

Post  Admin Mon 14 Nov 2011, 5:09 pm

Hello

I wish to share what God has been doing in my life. There have been some amazing things happening in my life and I wish to share what I am committed to and why

First of all, my commitment to God is total and is the thing that rules my life. I am constantly reminded of the wonderful sacrifice of Calvary and my response to that can only be one thing and that is to offer up my life as living sacrifice.. amen

Romans 12
1I APPEAL to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship.
2Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].

The early disciples and many saints through the ages and many present day saints, show that living a life that is on fire for God is the only way to live.. amen. There is no other option for the believer.. amen
Anything that comes between the believer and fellowship with God, must be ditched. In recent weeks, I have got rid of my Television, maybe it was not wrong, but the images it projects and the time it takes up, takes away from time that should be spent in prayer and bible reading.. amen
So my time with God is precious, I will protect it at any cost, I will take time to meet with God, because he promises to meet with us, if we put aside time to meet with Him
Apart from Falling deeply in Love with God and Jesus and The Holy Spirit, I have fallen in love with Helen
God has given me the gift of Helen. Who I love with all my heart
Helen is totally unique, she is the virtuous woman described in Proverbs 31, she has the fruit of the Spirit described in Galatians chapter 5. All these fruits she has in abundance. Helen overflows with Love, Joy and Peace and God has blessed me so much by bringing this Godly, dynamic and beautiful woman of God into my life. I am totally amazed constantly by Helen and wish to thank Helen for her prayers, love and constant encouragement
Website Ministry
The two websites are closing.. at ourchurch. They have become a distraction and so they have closed. I thank everyone, who has accessed them.
Now I come to the devotions, the Lord wants me to do these differently. I will be sending out the devotions, twice a week from Monday-Thursday, On Friday- Saturday, we will be concentrating on the persecuted church. Noonday Devotion, will be more relevant and up to date, it will contain fresh manna from my quiet time
What I am asking from you my friends is the following
To read the devotions and pray over the prayer requests
To pass them on as the Spirit Leads
Click the music and featured page links
To Let me have any links you would like me to place as the featured page link

Why Have I done these things
To deepen my Love relationship with the Father
To study more the precious word of God
To spend time with Helen My Beloved
Other changes that are to be made include that I will send out no ministry on Sunday, this is the Lord's day and I should minister for 6 days, but Place Sunday on a special footing, so please do not e-mail on Sunday.
I will only talk to men online.. the only exception to this is Susan and this is because she is my editor. And of course Helen of course

Thanks and God bless

Keith

Post  Admin Sat 12 Nov 2011, 7:00 pm

I have e-mailed Our church and asked them to delete my two websites, they are becoming distractions to me spending time with the Father. I also have cut my groups by half and my e-mail contacts by a third and so I will be able to send out ministry three times a week.. but not on Sunday as is Lord's day. Also Noonday Devotion, needs to be fresh manna, taken from my quiet time, from my personal time with God, which I will do anything to protect and stir my faith in intimacy with God

I hope you understand where I am coming form

Welcome to India Interest

It is an amazing joy to bring before the throne of God, the needs of my dear brothers and sisters in this state.. amen.

Please share these needs with all your friends/prayer groups ad church house groups.

Please also take time to click on the featured page links at the bottom of this message

Keith

Chhattisgarh

Your Brother in Christ

Welcome to India Interest

Although we are going to be praying for the smallest landlocked state in India, it is still important. So please take time to pray, please print out these requests, share them with your prayer groups and please click on the featured page links at the bottom of this message.

Thanks and God bless you

Keith

Goa

Goa is a beautiful place and a haven for tourists, but below the surface are evils such as drug trafficking and child prostitution. Pray that the local and national government, would act to end these evils.

The Church is few in number and very ineffective. Please pray that God through his Holy Spirit, would empower the church in revival power and pour out a special blessing upon it.

Please pray that the believers, would grow and mature in Christ and that they would show Jesus to people in all that they do.

Gospel For Asia and Mustard seed ministries, have outreach to various sections of the community. Please pray for the workers, that they would persevere and have much fruit in this difficult mission field.

Please pray that God would call many workers, who speak the main local language of Konkani and thank God that a Konkani bible has been translated. Please pray that this would have a great effect on Goa and that much more christian literature would become available.

Goa is largely Catholic, there is a charismatic presence in the church. Please pray that it would lead many nominal Catholics to a biblical faith.

Please pray for the Pastors, that they would remain faithful and strong and preach nothing but Jesus Christ and Him crucified and risen again.. AMEN.

Father in the precious name of Jesus, we thank you that you are working in this place and ask that your church, would be touched by your grace and power, so that it may impact this state with your love. May the people of this state, have their eyes opened and made alive to the glorious gospel of your Son.. JESUS

In his wonderful Name

Do I hear an AMEN.

Thanks for praying

God bless

In this week's edition: reports from Libya, Iran, Nigeria and Azerbaijan.
******************************
*****

1. Islamic law implemented in Libya
(Source: Australian Evangelical Alliance Religious Liberty Commission)

On October 24, National Transitional Council leader Mustafa Abdel Jalil declared Libya to be "liberated." Operating free of any democratic constraints, Jalil also declared that the law against polygamy will be repealed, Islamic banking will be adopted, and Shariah (Islamic) Law will form the basis for all Libyan law.

As has happened in Iraq and Afghanistan, any concession to religious freedom will be rendered void by the supremacy of Shariah. Shariah law prohibits fitna (anything that could shake the faith of a Muslim), especially evangelism (Christian witness), blasphemy (criticizing Islam), and apostasy (leaving Islam).

Please pray for all Christians in Libya. Ask the Lord to protect them and make them courageous followers of Christ -- for He did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline (2 Timothy 1:7). Pray for Mustafa Abdel Jalil and all those currently holding positions of authority. Pray that the Lord, in his good timing, will bring genuine religious freedom to this nation.

2. Update: Iranian Christians continue to languish in prison
(Sources: Present Truth Ministries, Mohabat News)

Mehdi "Petros" Foroutan, 27, has been in prison since September 25. He is currently serving a one year sentence for crimes against national security (for more information, go to www.persecution.net/ir-2011-09-08.htm). He was charged with this "crime" because he was evangelizing to Muslims. On October 17, Petros was put into solitary confinement. Thankfully, he has since been returned to the general area of the prison. Petros and four other Christians were arrested back in April and charged with blasphemy against Islam. The judge ruled that they were not guilty, but the prosecutor has appealed this verdict. Therefore, Petros is still awaiting a second trial for blasphemy.

Meanwhile, the prison sentence of Behnam Irani, 41, an Iranian church leader, has been extended by five years. The extension of his one-year sentence for "propaganda against the regime" was issued on October 18, three days before his scheduled release from prison. Behnam was arrested in April 2010 following a raid on his home in Karaj where approximately 10 young men newly converted to Christianity had gathered for fellowship and Bible study (for more information, please visit www.persecution.net/ir-2010-04-22.htm). According to local sources, there is concern that he may be charged with apostasy.

Please ask the Lord to comfort and strengthen these two men. Pray that Petros and Behnam will keep their eyes fixed on Jesus, persevere in their faith, and not grow weary or lose heart (Hebrews 10:32-39; 12:1-3). Ask the Lord to protect them while in prison and pray for their release. Pray also for the prison guards.

To compose letters of encouragement to Petros and Behnam in their own language, please visit www.PrisonerAlert.com. You can also download our Prisoners' List and Letter-Writing Guide at www.persecution.net/write.htm. To learn more about suffering Iranian believers, please visit www.persecution.net/iran.htm.

3. Christian mother of five killed by soldiers in Nigeria
(Source: Compass Direct News)

Nigerian soldiers summoned to stop inter-religious fighting between Muslim and Christian youths shot and killed a Christian mother of five in the Yelwa area of Bauchi city, according to family and church sources. A Christian boy was also shot.

Soldiers were called to the area on October 20 to restore calm after fighting broke out at a high school soccer match and spread to other parts of the city. Other Muslims reportedly joined Muslim students from the school, attacking Christians and setting homes ablaze.

Three Muslim soldiers later shot Charity Augustine Agbo. Charity's husband, Augustine, told reporters that the soldiers shot his wife after storming their house. "Three soldiers arrived ... with siren blaring, scaring us and forcing us to run into our houses," he said. "When we all ran inside, we saw these three soldiers coming to our house; then we locked the outside gate, but the soldiers followed us and broke the glass door and forced the door open and shot my wife twice on the chest." The circumstances leading to the shooting of the boy, who is unrelated to Charity, were not immediately known and his name has not been disclosed. At last report, he was recovering in hospital.

Please pray the Lord will bring about an end to the continuing violence in this area of Nigeria. Ask Him to comfort Augustine and his children. Pray the Lord will completely heal the young boy. Pray that the perpetrators will be brought to justice. Pray that they will also repent and believe.

Go to www.persecution.net/nigeria.htm for more on Nigeria's suffering believers.

4. Restrictive amendments proposed for uncensored religious literature in Azerbaijan
(Source: Forum 18 News Service)

Prison terms and hefty fines are set to be adopted by Azerbaijan's parliament in mid-November for groups of people who produce or distribute religious literature without first submitting to compulsory state censorship. Those found guilty will be subject to prison terms of up to five years or maximum fines of nearly nine years' official minimum wage.
The punishments are included in proposed amendments to the Criminal and Administrative Codes, which were prepared by the powerful Presidential Administration and approved by two parliamentary committees on October 28. Parliamentary officials said they are set to be adopted in one reading, likely on November 15.

Please pray the Lord will flood this nation with His Word and that the gospel will continue to spread in spite of these restrictions. Pray the Church in Azerbaijan will grow in number and in faithfulness. Pray the Lord will bless their efforts as they act as witnesses to Him. Pray that religious freedom will be respected in Azerbaijan.

Check out www.persecution.net/azerbaijan.htm to learn more about persecution in Azerbaijan.

5. Pray with us on Sunday, November 13!

Each year, the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church (IDOP) gives us the privilege of joining together with more than half a million churches in 150 countries to pray for suffering believers. The day plays a vital role in encouraging and strengthening the persecuted Church through prayer and to bring awareness to their plight. As we hear of their overcoming courage in the face of arrest, imprisonment, torture and even death, our faith is also strengthened.

The Voice of the Martyrs actively partners with organizations such as the Religious Liberty Commission of the World Evangelical Alliance, the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada Religious Liberty Commission and other VOM missions worldwide in promoting IDOP among Christians in Canada and around the world on the second Sunday of November.
A special resource kit is available for your church, Bible study or small group to use. To download these helpful resources or to find out more about IDOP, visit IDOP Canada at www.idop.ca or IDOP International at www.idop.org.

Bihar Part 2

This state is home to some of the least evangelized people in India and indeed the whole world.

16.5 Forward Caste Hindus... only a few thousand are christian.

16.5 Million Muslims.. here is a great opportunity to share the Love of Jesus, with these people who are subject to Hindu Mob Violence.

15.5 Million Dalits. Les than 2 % are christian. Please pray that all barriers would be removed from them coming to Christ.

Outreach Challenges Include

Bihar is 90% Rural and so church planting, must be focused on the close knit village communities and be sensitive to it's dynamics.

Bihar has a young population. Pray that the Gospel, would have a real breakthrough.

Unreached peoples- Look at the figures here.. this must drive you to your knees

22 people groups of over 100,000 are still without an effective witness

Largest unevangelised peoples include

Yadava 12 Million

Shaikh 8 Million

Brahmin 6 Million

Chamar 4 Million

Dosadh 4 million

Rajput 4 Million

Father we humbly come and beseech you in the Name of Jesus, that you would touch this state. We pray like never before that you would send workers into the harvest. we commit ourselves to pray and stand in the gap for the state of Bihar and ask your blessing on the workers in the harvest field.
In Jesus Name

God bless you

Prayer Focus with Keith - Page 4 Empty Re: Prayer Focus with Keith

Post  Admin Fri 28 Oct 2011, 6:36 pm

In this week's edition: reports from Somalia, Maldives, Nigeria and China.
***********************************
1. Islamic extremists behead 17-year-old Christian in Somalia
(Source: Compass Direct News)
Al Shabaab militants murdered a teenage boy on September 25 after monitoring Bible studies hosted by the boy's family near Mogadishu, says a journalist in the Somali capital. Islamic militants began watching the family of Guled Jama Muktar after the family arrived in the country from Kenya in 2008. "I personally know this family as Christians who used to have secret Bible meetings in their house," the source said. According to witnesses, al Shabaab members arrived at Guled's home at 6 a.m. while he was getting ready for school and his parents were already at work at an area market. "The neighbours heard screaming coming from the house, and then it immediately stopped," the source said. The neighbours informed the parents, who quickly returned home to bury their son fearing further violence. The family then fled.
This latest killing is not an isolated occurrence. A mother of four was brutally killed for her Christian faith in January (for more, see www.persecution.net/so-2011-01-20.htm), a young Christian man was shot dead this past spring (click www.persecution.net/so-2011-04-28.htm for details), and a kidnapped Christian convert's decapitated body was found in September (read the story at www.persecution.net/so-2011-09-22.htm). Muslim extremists from al Shabaab, which has ties to al Qaeda, control the south and centre areas of the country. Al Shabaab has been designated a terrorist organization by several western governments.
Please pray that the family of Guled would find peace and rest in the Lord and that their faith would remain strong despite this loss. Pray that al Shabaab would be thwarted in their efforts to harm and kill Christians and that God's love and protection would surround His faithful followers in Somalia. Pray for lasting peace in this war-torn nation.
To post a prayer of solidarity with those mourning the loss of Guled, go to our Persecuted Church Prayer Wall at www.persecution.net/prayerwall. To learn more about persecution in Somalia, please visit www.persecution.net/somalia.htm.
***********************************
2. Indian teacher arrested and deported for owning a Bible in Maldives
(Source: Compass Direct News)
Police in Maldives arrested and held Shijo Kokkattu, a 30-year-old teacher from India, for more than two weeks before deporting him earlier this month for keeping a Bible in his home, according to a foreign source in the capital city. Shijo was arrested during a police raid in late September prompted when his colleagues found Christian materials on a school computer he had used and reported it to authorities.
The country's 2008 Constitution is decidedly anti-Christian and states that a "non-Muslim may not become a citizen of the Maldives." Expatriates following other religions can practice their faith only individually and within their respective homes. Last month, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs published new regulations to control propagation of non-Islamic religions in the country. Any violation is punishable by imprisonment of between two and five years, banishment or house arrest. Foreigners who are found proselytizing are to be deported.
Please pray that Shijo's position would be restored and that the Maldivian authorities would relent in their efforts to further restrict and repress the Christian faith. Please pray that Christian leaders and teachers would continue to persevere in their efforts in Maldives despite the risks to their careers and well-being. Pray that religious freedom will be respected in Maldives.
Go to www.persecution.net/maldives.htm for more on persecution in Maldives.
***********************************
3. Evangelist murdered in Nigeria
(Source: Compass Direct News)
A 36-year-old Christian evangelist was shot and killed in violence-ridden Borno state, Nigeria, the day after his family members, along with other Christians, were evacuated from the region in the face of death threats by Boko Haram extremists. Mark Ojunta was ministering in Nigeria's northeastern state with Calvary Ministries (CAPRO) when he was murdered. "Brother Mark took his family out on Friday (Aug. 26), but he went back to the field because he had a class with some believers on Saturday," said CAPRO international director Amos Aderonmu. "It was in the night that the sect came to where they were staying and knocked at the door, and he tried to escape but could not get away." Mark is survived by his wife, Ema, and two children, 3-year-old Kambe and 9-month-old Akira, as well as his parents and sisters. The killing came less than three months after the June murders of a Church of Christ pastor and his church secretary in Maiduguri (for more information, go to www.persecution.net/ng-2011-06-30.htm).
Boko Haram leaders, who have claimed responsibility for these and other attacks and church bombings, have declared they want to establish an Islamic theocratic state in Nigeria. They reject democratic institutions, which they associate with Christianity. Many Christians have left the area, and some churches have shut down as many of their members have lost their lives.
Please pray that the Lord will place a hedge of protection around Christian leaders and teachers so they can reach more souls in northern Nigeria. Please pray that Ema, Kambe and Akira would find peace and strength amid their loss and lean on the Lord through their grief. Pray that God will receive glory as more Nigerians turn to Him despite efforts to deter the spread of the gospel.
To learn more about Nigeria's suffering believers, go to www.persecution.net/nigeria.htm.
***********************************
4. Christian student fellowship banned in Inner Mongolia, China
(Source: China Aid Association)
Chinese police and government officials shut down a Christian student fellowship group in Inner Mongolia, China, and detained its leader in September. Authorities cited "illegal evangelism" as the reason for the ban. Mengfu (Blessed) Fellowship was forced to close and its leader, Liang Guangzhong, was put into administrative detention for 15 days as part of China's ongoing persecution of house churches and Christian groups that meet outside government-approved churches. Officials also confiscated cash from the offering collection box as well as electronics and materials used for teaching. The Mengfu Fellowship has hired a Christian lawyer to formally request a review of the orders.
Please pray that the Mengfu Fellowship would be legally vindicated and their fellowship would be restored. Pray their faithfulness will encourage other believers facing similar challenges in the region. Pray that God will raise up many more young people in China to wholeheartedly follow and serve Him.
For more on our suffering brothers and sisters in China, please visit www.persecution.net/china.htm.

India Interest - Bihar Part 1
Welcome to India Interest

Thanks for joining with us to pray for this needy state. It is a wonderful privilege to share with you and I hope you will pass on these needs and indeed print them out and keep them with your Bible.

Thanks and God bless you

Keith

BIHAR Part 1

Population 100 Million

Evangelical Population 0.2%

This is the poorest state in India and also the second highest for population density. Please pray that the liberating power of the Gospel, would break through in this state.

Bihar is called the Graveyard of Missions, because of the many obstacles that prevent the spread of the gospel such as poverty, illiteracy etc. Pray that all obstacles would be removed and that the Gospel, would have free course and that Jesus would be lifted up and Glorified.

There are stirrings in Bihar as many agencies have put resources and people into this state. Please water these small saplings of growth with much prayer and please pray that these would grow into a viable and mature church.

Thank God for the agencies such as Gospel for Asia, Youth with a Mission and Operation Mobilisation, who have invested much time and many resources into this state. Please pray that there would be much fruit and that this fruit would remain and grow.

Please pray that the church, would grow in unity and that God would call workers into the harvest field of Bihar and that there would be a great ingathering of souls.

Please pray that all the bondage's that the people of Bihar are under would be broken, this will take a real move of God and people who are prepared to pray and really stand with the church in prayer... like you and me.. Amen

The church is growing, please pray that these new converts, would be taught scriptural truth and that they would grow up into strong disciples of Christ. Please pray for the calling of Godly men and women to pastor churches.

Father in the Name of Jesus, we break every bondage that is holding Bihar and we ask that you would pour out your Holy Spirit on this state. We ask that your church would grow and that it would become a dynamic force that would shine for you and glorify your name.

In Jesus Name

Amen

God bless you

keith

Post  Admin Fri 21 Oct 2011, 9:59 pm

In this week's edition: reports from Sudan, Indonesia, Kazakhstan and Iran
***********************************

1. Officials to demolish church buildings in Sudan
(Source: Compass Direct)

Government officials are threatening to destroy three church buildings in Sudan. The church buildings were marked for demolition with red crosses on September 11, and local church leaders say the officials simply said, "We are going to demolish these churches." Officials from the Ministry of Physical Planning and Public Utilities - Khartoum State arrived at the Sudanese Church of Christ, the Episcopal Church of Sudan and the Roman Catholic Church accusing them of operating churches on government land without permission, although church leaders say the buildings are not located on government land. Christians in the region also said officials from the Ministry of Guidance and Religious Endowment have called church leaders for information about their church members and activities, collecting information in an effort to make Islam the official state religion. "This is purely for intelligence purposes, so that they can put more restrictions on churches and Christians," said the Rev. Yousif El-Denger Kodi, general secretary of the Sudanese Lutheran Church. "We as church leaders are aware of their plans, but we pray for God to rescue us from their evil plans."

Please pray for the Lord's protection over the church in Sudan. Please pray that followers of Christ in Sudan would remain steadfast in the face of persecution and that they would be free to worship in their local churches without harassment or fear.

To post a prayer for suffering Christians in Sudan, please visit our Persecuted Church Prayer Wall at www.persecution.net/prayerwall. For more information on Sudan's persecuted Christians, go to www.persecution.net/sudan.htm.

2. Church closed and pastor arrested in Indonesia
(Sources: VOM-USA, Kabar Gereja)

The pastor of an Indonesian church established almost a quarter of a century ago has been arrested for allegedly forcing people to attend church. He faces up to three months in prison for the charges against him. His church has also been closed. Officials allege that the Indonesia Pentecostal Church (GPdI) in Sumedang was using an illegal building permit. Officials had previously asked the church to cease conducting Christian worship and had also requested that the church move its services into a building belonging to the Institute of Public Administration (IPND). An Indonesian Christian organization said the IPND cannot accommodate the congregations of any more closed churches, since about 14 churches have already been relocated to the building. At least 30 churches have been closed or burned in Indonesia this year alone, according to Jakarta Christian Communication Forum.

Please pray that Christian brothers and sisters in Indonesia would continue to find the means to worship despite church building closures and the arrest of church leaders. Please pray that God would multiply the faith and love of His followers in Indonesia in the face of persecution. Please pray that this church would be reopened and its pastor freed.

3. New laws in Kazakhstan oppress Christians
(Source: Forum 18 News Service)

The president of Kazakhstan has ushered in two new laws that severely restrict freedom of religion. President Nursultan Nazarbaev signed the laws -- which have been adopted with what one observer called "unprecedented" speed -- in mid-October. The laws have attracted fierce criticism from local religious groups, human rights defenders and the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). "The Law on Religious Activity and Religious Associations" imposes a very complicated registration system for faith groups, bans unregistered religious activity, promotes censorship and requires government approval to build or open new places of worship. The other new law includes amendments that may also have a far-reaching impact on religious freedom.

Pray for courage and wisdom for Christians and others who are raising a voice against these restrictive new laws. Please pray believers would be protected from legal persecution. Pray that President Nazarbaev's heart would be softened and that he would relent and repent (Acts 9).

4. Update: Pastor Vahik and Sonia Abrahamian flee Iran
(Source: FCNN)

Iranian pastor Vahik Abrahamian and his wife, Sonia, left the country for the Netherlands on September 15 with the help of the Netherlands Embassy and with approval from the Iranian government. Vahik and Sonia continually expressed their desire to remain in Iran for the sake of their ministry; however, fears for their safety caused them to flee the country.

The Abrahamians were arrested along with another couple in September 2010. Sonia and the other Christians were released from prison in April 2011. Sonia was told her husband would be released 10 days later, but Pastor Vahik was not released until August 29 (for more information, go to www.persecution.net/ir-2011-09-01.htm).

Thank the Lord for guiding and protecting Vahik and Sonia. Pray that they would sense His presence and direction in the coming months. Pray for the many other Iranian Christians who are imprisoned for their faith, including Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani.

Welcome to China Cry

Thanks for joining us, as we continue with the provinces of China.

Please print out these prayer needs and keep them with your bible.

Please also take time to click on the featured page links at the bottom of this message.

Thanks and God bless you

Keith

Guizhou Province

Location Southern China

Population 39 Million

Evangelical Population 5%

Prayer Needs

Praise God that the Christian's, have increased from 10,000 to 2 million in sixty years. Praise God that the A-Hmao and Gha-Mu people groups are now majority Christian and that several others have significant minorities within them. Please pray that the Christian's would hold fast to the truth and be salt and light in this province.

Although there has been breakthrough in several groups, there remains much to be done.

21 Miao people, 3 have small groups of believers, but 11 have none at all.

Many of the people's indigenous to Guizhou have no Christian's among them and no outreach. Please pray that this would take place.

The 3 million Bouyei people are only 0.5%christian.

Most Hmong groups have very few Christian's among them.

Please pray that every people group will be reached by Christian's both inside and outside the province.

Father we thank you that you have worked in this province in the last sixty years, but we ask for another outpouring of your Holy Spirit, that would stir your people, so that they would be able to reach every group within this province.. to the glory and honour of your Name.

Thanks for praying

God bless you

Keith

Guangxi Zhuang

Location The southernmost coastal state bordering Vietnam

Population 49 million

Evangelical Population 2.0%

Prayer needs

This province is very under developed. Please pray that things such as Drug and Human Trafficking, will not take hold in this province and that the State and National government's would crack down on this.

This province is reckoned to be 90% unevangelised. Praise God for the growth of the house church movement over the past few years. Pray that the believers would carry the gospel into the darkest places in this provinces and that the glorious light of the gospel, would shine brightly.

The Zhuang people number 17 million and they are the largest ethnic grouping. They are less than 1% christian. Please pray for a breakthrough, within these people. The Jesus film and Radio Broadcasts are available in their languages. Also the NT is nearly finished. Please pray that all these things, may have an effect on them.

There are numerous other minority groups, which include the Lu Mien people, who number over 1 million, but are less than 1% christian. Several other minority groups have little or no evangelising among them. Please pray that all groups may be reached in this province.

Father, we ask in Jesus name that your church, would be empowered to reach out to every group in this province. We ask that the Lord Jesus is glorified and uplifted in all areas of this province.

In Jesus Name

Amen

Thanks for praying

Keith
