Google kicked off the action on Monday afternoon when the Silicon Valley search giant said it would ban websites that peddle fake news from using its online advertising service. 
Hours later, Facebook, the social network, updated the language in its Facebook Audience Network policy, which already says it will not display ads in sites that show misleading or illegal content, to include fake news sites.

11 Very Depressing Economic Realities That Donald Trump Will Inherit From Obama
It would be a grave mistake to understate the amount of damage that has been done to the U.S. economy over the past eight years. In this article, I am going to share some economic numbers with you that are extremely sobering. Anyone that takes a cold, hard, honest look at the numbers should be able to see that our economy is in terrible shape and will not be fixed anytime soon. 
Unfortunately, the way that we see things is often clouded by our political views.  Up until the election, Democrats were far more likely then Republicans to believe that the economy was improving, but now that is in the process of completely reversing.  
According to Gallup, only 16 percent of Republicans believed that the economy was getting better before the election, but that number has suddenly jumped to 49 percent after Trumps election victory.

Palestinians: A Generation Raised On Hate Will Never Compromise With Israel
An entire Palestinian generation has been raised on the poisonous idea that even the consideration of compromise with Israel is traitorous. The next US Administration might do well to consider this unpleasant reality.
 Last week, Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas tipped his hand concerning his ultimatum on any revival of the peace process with Israel.
"I'm 81 years old and I'm not going to end my life drooping, making concessions or selling out."
Thus declared a defiant Abbas at a rally in Ramallah, marking the 12th anniversary of the death of his predecessor, Yasser Arafat.
Abbas in this way relayed to the hundreds of Palestinians who gathered in Ramallah to commemorate Arafat: "I have no intention of going down in history as a leader who compromised with Israel."
Like Arafat, Abbas would rather die intransigent than achieve a peaceful settlement with Israel.
Yet the position of the two Palestinian leaders is deeply rooted in the Palestinian tradition and culture, in which any concession to or compromise with Israel is considered an act of high treason.

Divided America - 'Revolution In The Streets' May Only Be The Beginning

The Temple Institutes growth has coincided with increased mainstream support for Jewish access to the Temple Mount. A large minority of Israelis now opposes the restriction on Jewish prayer on the Temple Mount, according to polls.

Almost a year ago, U.S. President Barack Hussein Obama called the suggestion that the U.S. give preference to Christian refugees over Muslim refugees "shameful." "That's not American. That's not who we are. We don't have religious tests to our compassion," he added loftily.
Now, WikiLeaks has released a 2008 email which discusses who should fill top staff positions should Obama win the presidency: it clearly proves that the Obama administration has long used "religious tests" -- but to discriminate against Christians in favor of Muslims
The email was sent from former New York Solicitor General Preeta D. Bansal to Michael Froman, a classmate of Obama's at Harvard and a member of the 12-person advisory board for the Obama campaign's transition team. The key passage reads:
In the candidates for top jobs, I excluded those with some Arab American background but who are not Muslim (e.g., George Mitchell). Many Lebanese Americans, for example, are Christian. In the last list (of outside boards/commissions), most who are listed appear to be Muslim American, except that a handful (where noted) may be Arab American but of uncertain religion (esp. Christian).
In other words, those Arabs from nations with large Christian populations or with Christian names failed the Obama team's "religious tests."

Palestinians Are Demanding 'Return' Of The Dead Sea Scrolls

Signs In The Heavens - Biggest Supermoon Since Israel Became A Nation Approaches
On November 14th, something extraordinary is going to happen. On that date we will witness the closest full moon that we have seen since 1948. Known as a "supermoon", this full moon will happen just six days after the U.S. presidential election.
If you look up into the night sky on November 14th, you will notice that the moon appears to be much bigger and much brighter than usual. 

Could it be possible that there is some special meaning to the biggest supermoon in almost 70 years? 

The last time we witnessed a supermoon of this size Israel become a nation, and as you will see below, many believe that the last couple months of 2016 could have historic significance for the Jewish people as well.

Do you remember ever seeing the moon so big in the sky that you felt that you could almost reach up and grab it? Well, on the 14th you may feel that way again. According to CNN, supermoons typically "appear to be 14% bigger and 30% brighter than other full moons".

And without a doubt, what we are about to witness is an extremely rare event. The last time that a supermoon was this close to our planet was in 1948, and it won't happen again until 2034...

The November full moon is not only the closest full moon of 2016, NASA said, but also the closest full moon since 1948 (which is still the last time the Cleveland Indians won the World Series).

This is one you might want to watch out for: The full moon won't come this close to Earth again until Nov. 25, 2034, NASA says.

But even though this is a highly unusual event, does that mean that it must have some sort of a special meaning?

Of course not, and the truth is that I don't know if this giant supermoon holds any special significance.

However, before we dismiss this phenomenon completely, let's remember what the Bible has to say. In the Scriptures, we are told that God intended the moon to serve as a "sign" from the very beginning. The following is what Genesis 1:14 says in the Modern English Version...

And God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be signs to indicate seasons, and days, and years."

And Jesus told us that there would be "signs" in the sun and the moon just prior to His return. The following is what Luke 21:25-26 says in the Modern English Version...

25 "There will be signs in the sun and the moon and the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; 26 men fainting from fear and expectation of what is coming on the inhabited earth. For the powers of heaven will be shaken.
So clearly the Bible tells us that the moon can serve as a sign.
But is that happening in this case?

I don't know, but just like as in 1948, it appears that something very significant may be about to happen concerning the nation of Israel.
Earlier this week, the Wall Street Journal published an article entitled "Obama's Israel Surprise?" which warned that Barack Obama "may try to force a diplomatic resolution for Israel and the Palestinians at the United Nations" before the end of his term.

The options that Obama is reportedly considering include "a resolution formally recognizing a Palestinian state". The following comes from CNS News...
The Wall Street Journal reported on Monday that according to administration sources, "the White House has asked the State Department to develop an options menu for the president's final weeks."
It said the possibilities could include supporting - or not vetoing - a U.N. Security Council resolution condemning Israeli settlements; or a resolution formally recognizing a Palestinian state, or setting "parameters" for a final settlement of the long dispute.

If you follow The Most Important News on a regular basis, then you already know that I have been warning about this over and over and over again in recent months. Barack Obama knows that this is his last chance to "leave a legacy" in the Middle East, and at this point the only chance that he has to get something accomplished is at the United Nations.
Obama's last day in office is scheduled to be January 20th, and so he is up against a deadline. Prior to the election he was likely extremely hesitant to make a move because he didn't want to mess up Hillary Clinton's chances, but after the election there won't be anything holding him back.
Perhaps that is why the Obama administration recently told the Palestinians to wait until after the election for something to get done at the UN...
On the surface, the latest message to the Palestinian Authority from the Obama administration is no different from the past two decades of American policy: the U.S. will veto any resolution attacking Israel or demanding Palestinian independence without them first making peace with the Jewish state. 


But, as Haaretz reported, there was one significant caveat to the warning. They were told not to push for any such resolution until after the presidential election next month.
The rest of the UN Security Council has been ready to pass a resolution formally establishing a Palestinian state for a long time. The only thing holding it back has been the U.S. veto power.
So right now the fate of the land of Israel is in Barack Obama's hands, and he only has until January 20th to make his final decision.

If we do see the land of Israel divided at the United Nations, so many of the things that I talk about in my new book are going to start happening in rapid succession. 
When we divide their land, our land will be divided as well, and so let us hope that nothing happens at the UN Security Council before the end of Obama's term.
We truly do live in ominous times, and the events of the next several weeks are going to tell us a lot.
I have previously described the period of time leading up to January 20th as "the danger zone", and so much could potentially go wrong during this period of time.

Conservative Christians Debate How A Trump Presidency Would Handle LGBT Issues
On October 30, at a rally in Colorado, Donald Trump proudly held up a rainbow-colored, gay flag on which was written "LGBT's for Trump." As Christian conservatives, what are we to make of this?
As Christian conservatives, what are we to make of this? Is it yet another proof that we must compromise our morals to vote for him? And will he betray us once elected?
Interestingly, major gay websites like the Advocate were not impressed with his gesture, declaring, "It's an empty gesture from the Republican nominee, who opposes marriage equality and has a proudly homophobic running mate."
The Washington Blade was more neutral, stating, "LGBT advocates continue to criticize Donald Trump for the anti-LGBT positions he's laid over the course of his presidential campaign, but they can't say he's never waved a rainbow Pride flag."
The Blade also quoted Chris Barron, "a gay conservative activist and founder of LGBT for Trump," who called him "the most pro-LGBT Pres candidate ever nominated by either party." 
In contrast, the Advocate noted that "LGBT advocates have spurned Trump, saying that his gestures amount to little more than pandering -- he opposes marriage equality and has wavered on transgender rights and the Equality Act, which would ban anti-LGBT employment and housing discrimination.

RDangerous Convergence Of Robot Autonomy And Artificial Intelligence
Some experts argue that the precision of robotics will curb many of the abuses we have seen from our military and police. But is that the trend we are actually seeing? Or will automated systems of violent control inevitably lead to even greater industrial-level suppression and killing?

There's a side of the Muslim refugee story you probably have not heard in the mainstream media.
It's a story of Muslims meeting Jesus. Take, for example, the story of Javad.
A Muslim from Iran, Javad didn't know any Christians and didn't own a Bible, though he had heard some Christian satellite radio. Then in 2008 he migrated to Athens, and a roommate asked him to come to an Iranian church. 
Javad had never heard of such a thing and, curious, he went. There, in a small, unremarkable rented room, he heard the gospel and gladly received Christ.
Now Javad is sharing the Jesus he met with other Muslim refugees in Greece. Every day he goes to a refugee center, park, or coffee shop to share the good news with Iranian and Afghan refugees. 
He says that he knows of two or three Muslims each day since he arrived who have trusted in Christ. Working at a refugee center that provides practical aid, Javad says more than 2,000 Muslims at the center have turned to Jesus in the last eight years.

Growing Number Of Americans Concerned About Potential Election Violence
Could we see violence no matter who wins on November 8th? Facial Recognition Technologies Spreading Rapidly
Photos have long been used for identification and security purposes. However, indications are that advances in facial recognition are fast outpacing the attendant privacy concerns.
Although there are myriads of hidden cameras placed strategically on every major street and within buildings, there is seemingly little public comfort that it's all necessary and that there are adequate measures to minimize the risk of abuse.
Is facial recognition out of control? Are the 'good guys' having their rights and privacies violated through excessive monitoring and poorly-controlled surveillance system data?
A prominent case study was recently presented by reporters for the Baltimoresun.com. It involved a five-year-old program in Maryland that lets police compare images of unidentified criminal suspects with millions of motor vehicle records -- using highly advanced facial recognition software.
The program has come under fire from civil liberties advocates, who say such programs lack transparency and infringe on privacy rights.

A new book is shaking France. Les cloches sonneront-elles encore demain? ("Will the Church Bells Ring Tomorrow?"), by Philippe de Villiers, is shattering the nation. France, the "eldest daughter" of the Catholic Church, is instead turning into "the eldest daughter of Islam". 
De Villiers points out that:
"France has experienced many misfortunes in its history. But for the first time, it must face the fear of disappearing. In France, there are two groups: a new people who move with pride and an exhausted people, who are not even aware of the conditions needed for their own survival".
De Villiers paints a grim picture of French Catholicism: "Avignon is no longer the city of the Popes, but of the Salafis". In Saint-Denis, where the French kings and Charles Martel are buried, "tunics and beards now dominate, and girls are dressed in the Islamic shrouds".

Why Are Human Rights Groups Ignoring Palestinian Jihadi-Style Child Abuse?
In the view of human rights organizations, recruiting Palestinian children to the ranks of Islamist terror groups does not constitute child abuse.
Children have long become an integral part of "military" parades held in the Gaza Strip by various Palestinian groups. 
But this form of child abuse does not seem to bother human rights organizations or the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), whose declared goal is to "work for a world in which every child has a fair chance in life and a right to survive, thrive and fulfill their potential -- to the benefit of a better world." 
It seems that UNICEF does not believe that its mandate extends to Palestinian children, who are exploited to serve the interests of Islamist groups.
In the Gaza Strip, children are taught not only to hate Israel, but also to prepare themselves for jihad (holy war) against the "Zionist enemy." Hamas, the Islamic Jihad Movement, and other radical groups see children as future "soldiers" in the war to eliminate Israel. They raise children to regard suicide bombers and jihadis as role models.

Both these branches of the IDF, according to Channel 2, were used to flying and sailing wherever and whenever they saw fit, with no real threat to their movement. But since Russia began to intervene in the Syrian civil war last year in an attempt to protect the regime of President Bashar Assad, things have changed.

One particular worry, the report said, was the impending arrival of the Admiral Kuznetsov, Russia's flagship aircraft carrier, which is on its way from the North Sea to the Middle East, and is expected to anchor off the Mediterranean coast of Syria in the coming weeks.

Who would have believed that in the last two years, government officials would be demanding that pastors and Christian teachers turn over their sermons, sermons notes, and private emails dealing with sexual morality and that, in the last 10 years, Christians would be fired from their jobs or kicked out of their schools because of their privately held, Biblical beliefs?
OK, I get it.

The title of this article sounds conspiratorial and inflammatory.
In fact, it sounds like a "shock" headline designed to get your attention.
Who, after all, is this ambiguous "they" I'm referring to, and why are "they" coming after "you" - referring obviously to Christian leaders? And what, pray tell, are "they" coming to do to "you"?
So I'll admit it. I did come up with the title of this article for shock value, but the fact is, you need to be shocked.
In other words, the title may be sensational, but it is only sensational because it is true.

This Pastor Isn't Handing Over His Sermon Transcripts to the Government
A public health official who also is a lay minister says he will not turn over his sermons and related documents to the state of Georgia, which he contends fired him for what he preached from the pulpit of his church.
"My faith has fueled me," Dr. Eric Walsh, who served as an associate pastor and still preaches, said at a press conference Wednesday at the Georgia State Capitol in Atlanta. "I want to be able to protect the faith of others, so I really have no intention of turning over the sermons."
Walsh, 45, accepted a job as district health director with Georgia's Department of Public Health in May 2014. He expected to start work around the middle of June, according to his lawyers at First Liberty Institute.

Russia Tests Nuclear Warhead That Can Outsmart US Anti-Missile Systems.
Russian strategic missile troops reportedly launched an RS-18 ballistic missile on Tuesday. The launch may have been a test of the advanced hypersonic glider warhead, which would be able to defeat US anti-missile systems.

A select few countries are currently developing the technology. The US has the HTV-2, a device developed by DARPA that has two partially successful tests under its belt. 
The Chinese warhead using the same technology is called DF-ZF, with Beijing first confirming a test in 2014. 
India is also studying hypersonic flight technology, but unlike Russia, the US and China, it is reportedly not developing a strategic missile warhead.
A hypersonic glider vehicle (HGV) is different from a conventional ballistic missile warhead in that it travels most of the time in the stratosphere rather than in space.

Bad Religion - Many Christians Endorse Heretical Beliefs Without Realizing It
A survey of 3,000 people conducted by LifeWay Research found that although Americans still overwhelmingly identify as "Christian," startling percentages of the nation embrace ancient errors condemned by all major Christian traditions.
Is American Christianity evolving into a faith with more 'believing unbelievers' and 'unbelieving believers' than simply true believers? 

These oxymoron references perhaps best describe both the confusion and apostasy related to the doctrines and practices embraced by many professing Christians in America today.

In a recent article for breakpoint.org, G. Shane Morris decries the apparent lack of understanding of Bible theology by Americans in general. "In knowing both the content of the Bible and the doctrinal foundations of Christianity, we Americans aren't just at the bottom of our class. 

We are, as Ross Douthat argues in his book, "Bad Religion," a nation of heretics", Morris stated.

A harsh-sounding statement -- but the statistics paint the sorry picture.  A survey of 3,000 people conducted by LifeWay Research and commissioned by Ligonier Ministries found that although Americans still overwhelmingly identify as "Christian," startling percentages of the nation embrace ancient errors condemned by all major Christian traditions. 

Morris notes that these are not minor points of doctrine, but core ideas that define Christianity itself. "The really sad part? Even when we're denying the Deity of Christ, we can't keep our story straight. 

Americans talking about theology sound about as competent as country singers rapping", he observed, citing several highlights from the survey.

Seven out of ten respondents in LifeWay's survey affirmed the doctrine of the Trinity--that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are three Persons but one God, and six in ten agreed that Jesus is both human and divine. Their orthodoxy--and consistency--ended there. 

The rest of the survey unearthed some beliefs that are shocking to note:

- More than half went on to indicate that Jesus is "the first and greatest being created by God," a heresy known as Arianism, which the Council of Nicaea condemned in 325 A.D.

- Seventy percent of participants--who ranged across socioeconomic and racial backgrounds--agreed there's only one true God. Yet sixty-four percent also thought this God accepts the worship of all religions, including those that believe in many gods.

- Two-thirds admitted that everyone sins a little bit, but still insisted that most people are good by nature, which directly contradicts scripture ("All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God," and "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?" Romans 3:23; Jeremiah 17:9). 

- Over half said it's fair for God to exercise His wrath against sin, but seemed to waffle about which sins deserved wrath (not theirs!). Seventy-four percent said the "smallest sins" don't warrant eternal damnation, in contrast to Jesus' half-brother, who when writing at the Holy Spirit's inspiration taught that even one infraction of God's law is enough to sink someone. 

- A full 60 percent agreed that "everyone eventually goes to Heaven," but half of those surveyed also checked the box saying that "only those who believe in Jesus will be saved." 

Granted, the average professing Christian may just be wearing a popular tag that makes them feel better about their spiritual side. Evangelicals, however, are known to be more accurate in their interpretations of scripture and more serious in the actual practice of their faith.

As Morris noted, everyone therefore expected them to perform better than most Americans. No one expected them to perform worse. Here are some of the bizarre and contradictory beliefs that many evangelicals hold to:

- Seven in ten evangelicals--more than the population at large--said that Jesus was the first being God created. 

- Fifty-six percent agreed that "the Holy Spirit is a divine force but not a personal being." 

- A huge increase in evangelicals (28 percent, up from 9 percent) indicated that the Third Person of the Trinity is not equal with God the Father or Jesus, a direct contradiction of orthodox Christianity. 

- By definition, evangelicals in this survey believed that "only those who trust in Jesus Christ alone as their Savior receive God's free gift of eternal salvation." Yet nearly half agreed that "God accepts the worship of all religions including Christianity, Judaism, and Islam."

- Two-thirds of evangelicals--more than Americans in general--said Heaven is a place where all people will ultimately be reunited with their loved ones. Many of these folks evidently see no contradiction between their casual universalism and the evangelical creed that salvation comes through faith in Christ alone.

- Two out of five evangelicals say "worshipping alone or with family is a valid replacement for regularly attending church".

Morris further noted that former Newsday religion reporter Kenneth Briggs recently told Religion News Service that the faith he finds in "mega-type churches" is a "Bible-less," "alternative version of Christianity." Scripture, he says, has become "a museum exhibit, hallowed as a treasure but enigmatic and untouched."

The Bible remains phenomenally popular, of course. Practically everyone has one in his or her home, and many families own four or five. But Briggs characterises our love for the Bible as love for an "artifact," a "keepsake," or a lucky "rabbit's foot." This talisman of faith mainly stays on the shelf or mantle next to the urn filled with grandpa's ashes.

Briggs says it was in a prison, not a church, where he encountered the most vibrant and intimate familiarity with God's Word. 

Most everywhere else, his observations confirmed a recent Barna survey, conducted for the American Bible Society, which found that less than half the country can name the first five books of the Old Testament and that a similar number think John the Baptist was one of Jesus' twelve disciples.

Why does it matter that we've become a nation of doctrinal dunces? What harm is there in flunking Christianity 101?  

Morris stated that, for Christians, the answer is obvious. If we really believe what we profess--that the incarnation, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ is the single most important fact of history and eternity--then we'd better improve our grade. 

Knowing who the God we claim to worship is can no longer be a third priority if we want the world to take us seriously as his followers:

"In the subduction zone between a nominally Christian culture and a distinctly post-Christian one, sparks are flying--in florist's shops, bakeries, universities, legislatures, and bathrooms nationwide.

Those who want to live in peace with the still-sizeable Christian remnant need to move past lazy dismissals of religious "bigotry," and learn why Christians have come to the conclusions we have for 2,000 years", Morris wrote.

"The results of this survey ought to embarrass all of us. But they should also serve as a kick in the pants to re-familiarize ourselves with our own religion--or at least our own history. There's no excuse to be a nation of heretics. But even that is preferable to being a nation of ignoramuses", Morris concluded.

A recent report on these findings published in ChristianityToday.com quoted LifeWay Research director Scott McConnell's related views:  

"Sometimes, as Christians in America, we're so busy running from one thing to another without taking the time to really closely see how this relationship with God works...I think you can see this in the variety of responses [to this survey] where people are in the right theologically on several questions and then completely missing it on others."

Herein lies the greater danger. Indications are that where Christians are 'missing it' creates a wide-open door for unBiblical practices -- a natural consequence of the departure from knowing and accurately applying the Scriptures.  

In Canada --which is very similar to the United States in many ways -- some recent church developments exemplify this principle. 

A breibart.com story published at the end of September, Thomas D. Williams reported the case of an atheist pastor coming out of the woodwork. The pastor of West Hill United Church found herself in the middle of a firestorm ever since she came out publicly as a disbeliever. 

Ordained in the Canadian United Church in 1993, the Rev. Gretta Vosper slowly began doubting the truths of Christianity until she found herself an avowed atheist, denying not only the Deity of Jesus Christ but even the notion of God altogether. 

All this time, however, she continued to lead her church, deemphasizing questions of the supernatural while stressing 'community', based on secular values of inclusiveness and compassion.

Reports suggest that the 58-year-old pastor has a "loyal following" at her Protestant congregation in suburban Toronto, which she describes as a good fit for nonbelievers "looking for a community that will help them create meaningful lives without God."

Members of the flock have expressed their consternation in a variety of ways, wondering aloud how a declared atheist can be allowed to lead a confessionally Christian congregation.

"My understanding is that the United Church of Canada is a 'Christian' church based on the teachings of Jesus Christ," Pamella Fell wrote on a United Church website. "Why, why, why is she still with the UCC if she isn't a Christian?"

Yet, as Williams notes, the United Church which prides itself on its inclusiveness is treating the matter gingerly, reluctant to declare anything off-limits.

"At the heart of the concerns being raised is a tension between two core values, both of which are central to our identity as United Church. The first is our faith in God. The second is our commitment to being an open and inclusive church," wrote the Right Reverend Jordan Cantwell, head (moderator) of the United Church of Canada.

The crux of the matter seems to be that for a church that has progressively embraced every aspect of secular culture, it has become hard to say "no" to anything. 

With a wink and a nod to the Bible, the United Church has accepted abortion, same-sex marriage, divorce, female ordination and openly gay ministers. But atheism seems a bridge too far.

In other words, for the United Church, it's all right to "mold" your idea of God so that he (or she) can approve of homosexual sex and transgenderism and killing babies in the womb, but please don't deny the divinity outright.

These increasingly common tendencies, to 'pick and choose' from the scriptures or to prioritize personal preferences irrespective of what the Bible teaches, appear to have filtered down to the average American Christian.

According to David Fiorazo in a recent publication of westernjournalism.com:

"Many American citizens claim to love God and believe we live in a Christian nation, but most of us would admit our actions don't always match our words, and our culture generally reflects darkness rather than the light of Christ. 

People have more than one Bible in their comfortable homes, but prefer not to study God's Word because it would interfere with how they want to live. Many profess to be saved, and yet these same folks often say there are many ways to Heaven, the meaning of sin has changed, or Jesus is not God...."

Fiorazo concludes that what people seem to be following is humanism, moral relativism, New Age, Universalism or a religion of works, none of which can be seriously defended with Scripture. The evangelical and Protestant Church was compromised many decades ago and obviously weakened. 

Part of Fiorazo's chilling conclusion: "One result is there are countless souls sitting in our churches who are not saved or don't really believe the doctrine of the church they attend...Welcome to the new post-Christian America".

And yet, those nagging concerns are slowly fading, as people become conditioned to embracing the attendant security and convenience while shrugging off the risks. 
This transition has been made easier by a subtle but powerful change in strategy that fights the psychological barriers: microchip implants for human beings are now being marketed as enhancements to the human body; the creation of a 'superman', of sorts.

Jews And Christians Reject UNESCO Vote With Rejoicing Over Sukkot Holiday
UNESCO chose a rather odd time to ratify its resolution against Israel's "occupation of Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif" and Jerusalem's Old City. The Resolution was passed during the week of Sukkot, one of three great Jewish Feasts that have for at least 3,000 years beckoned pilgrims to Jerusalem.

UNESCO chose a rather odd time to ratify its resolution against Israel's "occupation of Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif" and Jerusalem's Old City.
The declaration, which was initially submitted by Algeria, Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Qatar and Sudan, officially claims those sites as part of the "Cultural Heritage of Palestine." In doing so, it disavows Jerusalem's historical and religious connection with both Judaism and Christianity.

The Resolution was passed on Tuesday, October 18 during the week of Sukkot, one of three great Jewish Feasts that have for at least 3,000 years beckoned pilgrims to Jerusalem.

And in recent years, Sukkot - the Feast of Tabernacles - has also drawn thousands of Christians to the Holy City.

And so it was that this year, while the Israeli media bemoaned the UNESCO resolution, Jerusalem's streets throbbed with singing, laughter and rejoicing.

The irony was unavoidable. Joyful festivities, celebrated in real time, loudly and cheerfully drowned out the abstract words of the resolution.

During the feast, family gardens, terraces, verandas as well as plazas and eateries are, for the week, enclosed in fabric walls and roofed with palm branches and other greenery. These "booths" remind the Jewish people of their desert trek from Egypt to the Promised Land. 

Such fragile, temporary shelters are meant to recall the need for dependency on God, and his deliverance from evil powers.

As a Christian sojourner, I've lived in Jerusalem for 10 years. And I've become increasingly aware of how deeply the roots of my own Christian faith are anchored in the ancient soil of Judaism.

Like many Christians, from time to time I visit what is sometimes called the "Wailing Wall," where Jews wept for centuries over the loss of their land. 

Today, believers of myriad traditions fold scribbled prayers into the cracks and crannies of the wall's surface, sensing that somehow that God seems a little closer, a little more attuned.

One can only wonder how an organization like UNESCO - recognized as a global guardian of the world's most precious heritage sites - is able look upon the massive, archeologically acclaimed Herodian stones of the Jewish Temple's Western Wall, blatantly deny their history, and solemnly declare it a solely Muslim site.

Groups of Israelis and foreign Jewish visitors also make their way to the Temple Mount (despite stringently enforced and brief hours of admittance). They are forbidden to carry Bibles or prayer books, sing or even move their lips in prayer. They find this appalling.

And they aren't the only ones.

Christian tourists also visit the Temple Mount, equally scrutinized lest they demonstrate the least indication of obvious worship. One of my friends' Bible was confiscated from her backpack by guards at the security checkpoint. It was never returned to her.

Of course, Christian tourists also visit the Western Wall by the tens of thousands to sing, pray and marvel at the sight of a Bible story come to life before their eyes. 

They've toured Bethlehem and Nazareth and the Sea of Galilee. And now they stand praying in the shadow of what was once the Temple of God.

UNESCO's resolution is infuriating to Israelis, not only because of its historical, archeological and political deceit, but also because it attempts to seize Judaism's holiest geography.

Less has been said about our Christian heritage and its scandalous denial, but it is equally undisputable. For starters, there is ample archeological evidence of a pre-Islamic Christian basilica buried beneath the Al-Aqsa' Mosque's present structure. Mosaic tiles continue to be unearthed.

But even more compelling are the biblical accounts of Jesus, recording his own visits to the Jewish Temple.

He was carried there as an infant to be consecrated to God. At 12, he was "found... in the Temple courts, sitting among the teachers and asking them questions." Other notable visits involved his expulsion of money-changers, and his grim predictions of the Temple's destruction.

And this year, there is even greater irony. Because it was during Sukkot - the Feast of Tabernacles - when Jesus went "up to the temple courts and began to teach" (John 7). 

He declared - probably during a traditional Sukkot water ritual - "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink..." The temple guards took note of him saying, "No one ever spoke the way this man does."

Attempts to de-Judaize - and thus de-Christianize - Jerusalem and the rest of Israel seem to have begun in earnest in 2000 at Camp David, when PLO chief Yasser Arafat famously informed US President Bill Clinton that there was never a Jewish Temple on the Temple Mount.  

This latest UNESCO resolution is simply a continuation of that mythology.

Meanwhile, as Jews and Christians complete the celebration of Sukkot, the ongoing strategy to remove their history, faith and heritage remains rather absurd. 

And, judging by the sounds of singing, laughter and rejoicing, its foolishness is only exceeded by it futility.

Secular, Feminist, and Pro Life: The Message Goes Mainstream
The pro-life tent is constantly expanding, but some of our new allies might surprise us.
In the third presidential debate last week, Hillary Clinton said women should be able to end the lives of their preborn babies right up until the very moment of birth, long after a child is viable outside the womb.

In a recent Marist poll reported by the Wall Street Journal, eighty percent of Americans and some sixty-percent of self-described pro-choicers oppose this extreme view. Instead, they support restricting abortion to the first trimester of pregnancy.

Just more evidence that the landscape is changing. Not only is Clinton's extreme view on abortion unpopular--it's outdated.

A 2015 survey by the Public Religion Research Institute found that millennials are more likely than their parents to say that abortion ought to be legal only in certain stages and certain circumstances.

According to another poll by Students for Life of America, just 17 percent of millennials agree with the Democratic presidential nominee that abortion should be legal right up until birth.
All of this led Ruth Graham to conclude in Slate that the pro-life movement is in the midst of a transition. But it's not just in the sense that it's getting younger. It's also attracting the non-religious.

Not that long ago, being pro-life meant you were almost certainly a Catholic or evangelical. But now, the belief that killing unborn babies is wrong is transcending religious and even political boundaries.

Why are financial experts predicting the chances of a recession in the next year with estimates ranging from as low as 25% to a 60% or higher?
The next recession appears likely to hit in the spring of 2017, and many experts are expressing increased concern over the weakened position of the Federal Reserve.

According to CNBC, the primary target of the attacks on Friday was a hosting company known as Dyn, and these attacks came from "tens of millions" of IP addresses simultaneously...
Internet traffic company Dyn on Friday warned of another cyberattack after websites and services across the East Coast were shut down earlier in the day. Dyn told CNBC Friday afternoon the attacks are "well planned and executed, coming from tens of millions IP addresses at same time." 
"We have begun monitoring and mitigating a DDoS attack against our Dyn Managed (Domain Name System) infrastructure. Our Engineers are continuing to work on mitigating this issue," Dyn said on its website at 11:52 a.m. ET.

Fleet Of Android Robots To Begin Policing The Streets By 2017
According to a report from the Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX), a fleet of android robots will police the streets of Dubai as early as 2017. 
Videos from Dubais annual computer and electronic trade show featured new prototypes of the robot shaking hands, saluting, and brandishing a touchscreen interface by which people can report crimes or pay traffic fines. 
It is another indicator that we are fast approaching an age of automatic policing.

The robot cop prototype is able to scan faces, possibly serving as a new mobile street surveillance tool. 
In the coming months, a team consisting of Dubai Police, IBMs supercomputer, Watson, and Google will improve the robots artificial intelligence technology so it can spot people from 10 meters or 20 meters away, approach them and greet them, said Dubai Polices Technical Innovations Department Head Major Adnan Ali.
Were expecting for it to be in tourist areas at first in 2017, near Burj Khalifa, GPR, City Walk and by 2020 we want to have a more thorough area covered.
Dubais android cops follow in a recent but frenetic tradition of automatic policing experiments being deployed by law enforcement agencies all across the world. Many were shocked by the weaponized robot drone that took out cop-killer Micah Xavier Johnson in Dallas earlier this year.

But the bigger surprise is how much robotic and drone technology has been integrated into our newly militarized police departments. There is a drone-catching drone in Japan, a riot-control drone in India, an Israeli rover bot, traffic robocops in the Democratic Republic of Congo  and many others.
We are likely about to see a beta acculturation stage of militarized policing in which the general population is exposed to the reality of drones and android cops. 
Once the shock of this wears off, you can expect full squadrons of robotic police equipped with state of the art AI technology and exoskeletons. 
Truckers and KFC attendants arent the only middle-class American workers who will lose their jobs to automation  cops are on the chopping block, too.

Why the State Department Won't Acknowledge The Truth About Fatah
Obama's political agenda--his entire policy concerning Israel and the Palestinian Arabs--conflicts with telling the truth about Fatah.
The U.S. State Department denounced the latest terrorist attack in Jerusalem by condemning "the statements glorifying this reprehensible and cowardly attack."
At first, it might seem like good news President Barack Obama's administration finally acknowledged and criticized the horrendous glorification of terrorist attacks we read about almost every day.
Until you notice the State Department forgot to mention one little thing--the identity of those it condemned. Who exactly has been making statements "glorifying" the attack? Who called the terrorist a hero and a martyr? Who defended and justified the murder of an Israeli Jewish grandmother?

Palestinians: Fatah Prepares For War With Israel
Fatah is a two-faced hydra; one face tells the English-speaking international community what it wants to hear, namely, that it supports a two-state solution and seeks a peaceful settlement to the conflict with Israel, while the other tells the truth: it is committed to an armed struggle and the "liberation of Palestine," and is even preparing for war with Israel.
Some 300 members of the Palestinian Fatah faction, headed by Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas, have begun receiving "military training" in the Gaza Strip in preparation for war with Israel.

The armed wing of Fatah, Aqsa Martyrs Brigades - The Martyr Nidal Al-Amoudi Division, announced that its members have been enrolled in a new military academy for training "fighters" in the Gaza Strip. The academy, inaugurated recently in the Gaza Strip, would train the "fighters" on various fighting methods "in the context of a program for preparing for any future battle" with the "Zionist enemy."
The Nidal Academy was named for Nidal Al-Amoudi, a top Fatah militant killed by the Israel Defense Forces on January 13, 2008, after he carried out a series of armed attacks against Israeli civilians and soldiers during the Second Intifada. 

"The academy has been named after the commander Nidal Al-Amoudi (Abu Hussein) to fulfill his dream of qualifying the fighters militarily, morally, religiously and revolutionarily," explained a statement released by the Fatah armed group. Noting that some 300 "fighters" have already joined the academy, the group said that they have begun undergoing training in various methods of warfare.

"We have pledged to prepare an army of fighters by devoting our full abilities and energies to consolidate the option of armed struggle as the only means to liberate Palestine," the group declared.

The Martyr Nidal Al-Amoudi Division is one of several Fatah-affiliated militias that continue to operate in the Gaza Strip despite Hamas's violent takeover of the area in the summer of 2007. These groups pose no threat to the Hamas regime, which is why they are allowed to operate freely in different parts of the Gaza Strip. 

The groups' explicit policy is to prepare for war with Israel and launch terror attacks against Israelis. Hamas, however, which expelled their leaders from the Gaza Strip and continues to persecute dozens of Fatah activists in the Gaza Strip, is not on their hit list.

The Fatah-affiliated militia inauguration of its own "military" academy in the Gaza Strip is a novel move. In recent years, Fatah armed groups have posted videos of their men undergoing military training orchards and fields, far from the watchful eyes of their rivals in Hamas. Now it seems that Hamas has nothing to fear from the Fatah militants, as Israel is the sole target.

Thus instead of training their men to retake the Gaza Strip and liberate it from the oppressive regime of Hamas, the Fatah "fighters" are busy preparing for war with Israel or fighting among themselves.

Drowning In Debt: 35 Percent Of All Americans Have Debt Past Due
More than a third of all Americans can't pay their debts. As you will see below, 35 percent of the people living in this country have debt in collections. When a debt is in collections, it is at least 180 days past due.
And this is happening during the "economic recovery" that the mainstream media keeps touting, although the truth is that Barack Obama is going to be the only president in United States history to never have a single year when the economy grew by at least 3 percent.  

But at least things are fairly stable for the moment, and if this many Americans are having trouble paying their bills right now, what are things going to look like when the economy becomes extremely unstable once again.

China Faces Demographic Nightmare From Forced One Child Policy
China, instead of growing rich and then getting old, like European nations and Japan, will grow old long before it has a chance to get rich.
Over the past decade or more, we've talked on BreakPoint about China's looming fertility crisis. This, of course, is the result of the Communist Party instituting what became known as the "one-child policy" back in 1979.

With very few exceptions, Chinese couples were permitted to have only one child. The policy, in the words of the Washington Post, "led to untold millions of forced abortions, sterilizations and horrific abuses of power."

It also led to a huge demographic problem. As birthrates plummeted, there were fewer and fewer workers, and China's overall population aged rapidly. China, instead of growing rich and then getting old, like European nations and Japan, will grow old long before it has a chance to get rich.

This has the Communist Party very worried. So worried that they've done an about face. They not only dropped the "one-child policy," they've tried to convince Chinese couples that having two kids is their patriotic and political duty.

Clumsy party propaganda is telling people to "Train your body, build up strength, get ready for the second baby!" Another slogan read "Get to sleep early, stop playing cards, work hard to produce a child!"

The response? Yawns and outrage. You see, after 35 years of being told "one child is enough," people have come to believe it. As a recent article in the Washington Post put it, "Having only one has become ingrained in Chinese culture and society, and people no longer believe the party should be telling them what to do in the bedroom."

Raising Children In A Country Ruled By Moral Confusion
Very few people bother to consider the basis for their moral convictions. As Christian parents, it's our responsibility to raise our kids with feet firmly planted on objective moral ground. But what does that mean when they're growing up in a country ruled by moral confusion? Oh, this election.
How it's brought out the worst in everyone, including the two people running for office.

As crazy as the last few months leading up to the election have been, I haven't felt inspired to write anything about it...until now.

In the past few days, I've watched with amazement as scores of articles denouncing Trump's character have been shared on social media by my liberal friends. They are rightly outraged at what he said. 
But these are the same friends who are pro-choice, support transgender bathroom choice, believe there's no problem with sex outside of marriage, and think that not supporting same-sex marriage is bigotry.
Liberal America, from whence does this hodgepodge of moral views come, other than from your own fickle liking?  

Should not your moral outrage be tempered to the whisper of an opinion by the realization that, without a belief in God, you haven't an objective foot to stand on?
This week's showcase of moral confusion from our collective society demonstrates how few people bother to consider the basis for their moral convictions. 

As Christian parents, it's our responsibility to raise our kids with feet firmly planted on objective moral ground. But what does that mean when they're growing up in a country ruled by moral confusion?
First, it means we must proactively teach our kids how to think critically about the nature of morality...unlike the world around them.

Why Israel Greatly Fears Barack Obama's Last Few Months In Office
Between right now and January 20th, 2017 is a real "pressure point" for U.S. relations with Israel. Barack Obama has always desired to "leave a legacy" in the Middle East, and at this point the only option for accomplishing anything tangible is through the United Nations.

Christians and Hong Kong's Umbrella Movement: Defying Tyranny
In early October, Joshua Wong, a 20-year-old student from Hong Kong, flew to Thailand to meet with fellow students in that country. 
No sooner had he gotten off the plane than he was detained by Thai officials, who were eager to curry Beijing's favor, and then deported back to Hong Kong.
It's not the first time something like this has happened to Wong. As the South China Morning Post put it, Wong "has a habit of visiting countries that deny him entry."

What makes Wong such a persona non grata? Simply put, he's a Christian who's willing to stand up for freedom--and that makes the Chinese communist government in Beijing very nervous.
To understand why, a short history lesson is in order. When Great Britain ceded Hong Kong back to China in 1997, the agreement stated that the principle dubbed "One Country, Two Systems" would govern relations between Hong Kong and mainland China for the next 50 years.
Under this principle, Hong Kong's domestic affairs would be governed by the systems it inherited from Britain. This included freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and, eventually, free elections.
This kind of autonomy made Hong Kong a free, prosperous, and democratic example for the rest of China to compare its lot to, and the Communist Party knew it. 
Thus, less than 20 years into the agreed-upon 50 years, China began to try and undermine Hong Kong's autonomy by attempting to "pre-screen" candidates in Hong Kong's upcoming elections.
In response, hundreds of thousands of students, in what came to be known as the "Umbrella Movement" because of the use of umbrellas against the tear gas canisters used by police, shut down large parts of the city for the better part of three months.

Are We Living in a Computer?: Tech Tycoons and Transcendence
Since Rene Descartes formulated his famous dictum, "I think, therefore I am," philosophers have been wrestling with the question of how we can know that what we think we know is really real. In the last couple of decades, pop culture has wrestled with that question, as well.

Recall the 1999 movie, "The Matrix," in which a man discovers his whole life has been lived in a virtual prison that simulates the real world. In the movie, he's given a choice between two pills--a red one and a blue one. 

The first will awaken him from the simulation, and the second will lull him back into blissful ignorance. Since then, "choosing the red pill" has become synonymous with throwing off comfortable illusions and confronting reality.

But in many ways, the concept of the Matrix has transcended Hollywood. If you can believe it, the idea that the world around us may not be what it appears has become increasingly popular among scientists, philosophers, and even technology tycoons. 

And some of these folks are now actively searching for the "red pill" that will wake us from our collective illusion.
The Independent reports that two anonymous Silicon Valley billionaires are pouring money into a project to break us free from a real life Matrix--if we're living in one, that is. Although the details of this project are unclear, we do know it involves a team of scientists and some of the richest, most influential innovators in America.
This shouldn't surprise us that much. Those who invent cutting edge products and technologies have long embraced some pretty weird ideas. Take, for instance, PayPal co-founder and "transhumanist" Peter Thiel, who hopes to achieve immortality by "uploading" his consciousness into a computer!
Elon Musk, founder of Tesla and SpaceX, thinks we may already be living in a computer. We just don't know it yet. In a recent interview, he placed the odds that our reality is not the ultimate, "base-level reality" at "billions to one." 
In other words, the guy behind today's top-selling electric cars and best-known private space program is almost certain we're trapped in the Matrix!

The Great Falling Away - Atheist Pastors Remain In The Pulpit
The famously liberal United Church of Canada may have finally found the limit to its own philosophy of inclusion with atheist Reverend Gretta Vosper. Although Rev. Vosper expressed her disbelief in the God of the Bible in a sermon as early as 2001, it was only in 2013 that she openly proclaimed herself atheist in the pulpit of the West Hill United Church.

Since the West Hill congregation no longer includes Christ in their worship, many now question how Vosper and her core of supporters can remain a part of the Church, despite the United Church's focus on inclusion.

According to the Rev. Don Schweitser, theology professor at St Andrew's College, "It's tough on the United Church because we've created this mantra of inclusiveness and now it's been tested. 

It goes against the grain to tell somebody that you have to leave." Yet common sense tells us that any Christian church that embraces atheism in the pulpit is neither Christian nor does it have a future.

InterVarsity Upholds Christian Teaching: And Many Don't Like It
It shouldn't be news when a Christian organization says it will uphold traditional Christian beliefs. But these days, it is.
Recently on BreakPoint, we told you how Baptist ethicist David Gushee proclaimed there was no more middle ground on LGBT issues. He's right. You either approve of so-called sexually progressive ideas or you don't--and if you don't, you've placed yourself in the bigoted, wrong-side-of-history category.

That's exactly what happened with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. Earlier this month, IV informed employees that they were expected to align with traditional Christian teaching on marriage and human sexuality. If they couldn't, they were asked to come forward.
TIME magazine reported on the announcement this way. "One of the largest evangelical organizations on college campuses nationwide "has told its 1,300 staff members they will be fired if they personally support gay marriage or otherwise disagree with its newly detailed positions on sexuality starting on November 11." They called it a "theological purge."

Telling The Algemeiner that Christians were "gravely concerned" by the resolution, David Brog -- the director of Christians United for Israel (CUFI) -- said, "The places under discussion, namely the Temple Mount, play a central role not only to the Jewish faith but also to the Christian faith. This resolution largely ignores and fails to honor this deep and holy connection."

Robert Nicholson -- the head of the Philos Project, a nonprofit group that "seeks to promote positive Christian engagement in the Middle East" -- told The Algemeiner, "UNESCO's decision to deny Jewish history is also a decision to deny Christian history.

The family of Musbah Abu Sbeih say they are "very proud" of what their 40-year-old son did. So are many Palestinians representing all walks of life in Palestinian society. 

Members of his family, including his parents and daughter, have appeared on too may TV stations to keep track of to commend Abu Sbeih. 

They have even gone out onto the streets to hand out sweets in jubilation over the terror attack that he carried out in Jerusalem this week, which resulted in the death of a 60-year-old grandmother and a 29-year-old police officer.

Abu Sbeih is now the latest "hero" of many Palestinians, and not only by his family. He is being hailed as a "brave" man and a "hero" because he woke up in the morning, grabbed an M-16 assault rifle and set out to kill as many Jews as possible. His mission was "successful": he managed to shoot and kill two Jews before he himself was eliminated by policemen.

By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, and to prepare the Nation for space weather events, it is hereby ordered as follows:

Section 1. Policy. Space weather events, in the form of solar flares, solar energetic particles, and geomagnetic disturbances, occur regularly, some with measurable effects on critical infrastructure systems and technologies, such as the Global Positioning System (GPS), satellite operations and communication, aviation, and the electrical power grid. Outrage! UNESCO Resolution Rejects Jewish Connection To Jerusalem

No Pooh-Poohing Biblical History: The Lachish Latrine
Once again archaeology confirms biblical history. I'll explain the latest find--just bring along your sense of humor.
The late Chuck Colson was known for many things: his role in the Watergate scandal, his subsequent conversion to Christ; his work with prisoners around the world, and his efforts in promoting a Christian worldview.

But to his closest associates, Chuck was also known for his sense of humor. He loved practical jokes, and as odd as this sounds, jokes about bathroom mishaps--the kind of potty humor made famous by humorist Dave Barry.

So for this and many other reasons, I really wish Chuck were around to deliver this particular commentary.

You see, archaeologists from the Israel Antiquities Authority, digging in the remains of what was once the biblical city of Tel Lachish, made a startling discovery that confirmed the biblical text in a most startling way: They found an ancient toilet.

To fully appreciate the significance of the find, we need to go back in time to the eighth century before Christ. King Hezekiah, one of only a handful of post-Davidic kings that earns the Bible's seal of approval, initiated series of reforms aimed at eradicating syncretism in Judah.

At the heart of these reform efforts was eliminating what the Bible called "high places" or bamot in Hebrew. These were cultic sites containing an altar, usually located, as the English name suggests, on a hill or a ridge.

While ostensibly dedicated to the worship of YHWH, over time the sites, and the worship that occurred at them, became syncretistic: pagan deities were honored alongside YHWH. Thus we are told that asherim, or "Asherah Poles," cultic objects dedicated to the worship of the Canaanite goddess of fertility, were erected at these sites.

Hezekiah was commended because "He removed the high places, smashed the sacred stones and cut down the Asherah poles."

And that brings me back to the discovery at Tel Lachish. Archaeologists found a "large room that appears to have been a shrine. The room contained two four-horned altars, whose horns had been intentionally damaged." Excavation leader Sa'ar Ganor "believes that the destroyed altars corroborate biblical references to King Hezekiah's reforms: his efforts to centralize worship in Jerusalem and abolish it elsewhere."

As if this weren't exciting enough, Ganor and his team found something else in the room: a "seat carved of stone with a hole in the center." In other words, a toilet.

Ganor believes that this "was unquestionably a form of desecration of this shrine room," and he has ample biblical reason to do so. In 2 Kings 10, we're informed that following the fall of King Ahab, Jehu and his followers "demolished the pillar of Baal, and destroyed the temple of Baal, and made it a latrine to this day."

Apparently, desecration by bathroom renovation was practiced in both kingdoms.

This latest discovery comes on the heels of other discoveries confirming a great deal of what the scriptures tell us about Hezekiah and his reign. And to think that only a few decades ago, many, if not most, scholars doubted that Hezekiah, along with ancestors David and Solomon, ever actually existed. And now they seem to be popping up everywhere.

That should not come as a surprise. The Bible is the best-attested book of antiquity. Nothing else is within the same solar system. All of this is another reminder that the biblical faith is firmly rooted in actual human history and not in some mythological "once upon a time."

That an ancient toilet is the latest among many archaeological finds to affirm the historicity of Scripture--well, all I can say is, I wish Chuck Colson were here.

Russia Prepares For War
Ominous signs continue to emerge out of Russia as media sources in Russia report that state officials and government workers were told to bring back their children studying abroad immediately, even if means cutting their education short and not waiting until the end of the school year.

The reason for the instruction was not clear, but the two suggested possibilities by most analysts: Russia is preparation for war against the West, or President Vladimir Putin is displaying his domination over the country's oligarchs and forcing those with children studying in the US and Europe to bring them home.  

Taken in isolation such actions may not seem that troubling, however mounting tensions between Russia and the United States, as well as other NATO block countries have been a source of concern for months now.

Many experts fear that Russia has begun to accelerate to a war footing. From direct warnings to the United States in Syria to thinly veiled threats of invasion in Sweden, Estonia, Lithuania and Norway, Russia is making its intentions clear while at the same time positioning warships, anti-aircraft missiles, nuclear weapons and divisions of its military in preparation for war. 

A treaty agreement with Syria that authorizes an open-ended Russian troop presence passed the Russian Duma on October 7th. The treaty follows both the heaviest Russian bombing of the rebel-held Aleppo thus far in the war and the collapse of a cease-fire backed by both Russia and the United States. 

Last Thursday, just one day before signing the treaty that would allow an indefinite Russian presence at the Khmeimim air base in Syria, Russia warned the US that its air-defense missiles would fire upon any foreign power attempting to fly over Syrian airspace, including US warplanes should they try to interfere in Assad's brutal oppression. 

Russian S-300 and S-400 anti-aircraft missiles now cover Russian troops spread throughout Syria and any US strike on ISIS or the Assad regime runs the risk of either hitting Russian personnel or being downed by Russian air defense, either of which would pull Russia and the US into direct conflict.
 
At a time when the United States is reducing its nuclear arsenal, Russia has announced plans both to modernize and to expand its own nuclear capabilities. Russia's 1,796 currently deployed nuclear warheads represents a 246 warhead breach of the treaty limit (1,550) established in 2011. 

Russia currently leads the United States by 429 warheads and that gap is likely to grow in the near-term with Russia's announced plans to expand nuclear deployment this week. Of particular interest are claims that the Russian short-range SS-25 ballistic missile, a road-mobile nuclear strike vehicle capable of hitting targets across Europe, has been recently deployed despite a 1987 treaty ban.
 
Inside Russia, near St. Petersburg, a series of missile drills with Iskander missile systems has created concern in nearby Finland and Estonia. The military exercises of the Leningrad missile brigade simulate a preemptive missile strike against enemy infrastructure. This follows after a simulated Russian nuclear strike and invasion of an enemy that looked qfuite suspiciously like Sweden last year. 

Neighboring countries have been preparing for Russian invasion for the past several years, but most recently Sweden has followed Norway's example in reinstating conscription, this time of both men and women, in the face of the looming Russian threat. The presence of Iskander-M missiles in Kaliningrad, between Poland and Lithuania, is positioned as a direct threat to NATO countries. 

Attempts by the United States to protect Poland and Romania with anti-missile defenses has been decried by Russian diplomats as a provocation that would render these countries as targets in the event of a Russian strike. The Russian intention to position offensive strike capabilities while bullying its neighbors into weakening their defenses cannot be more transparent. 

Within Russia, in addition to the construction of massive nuclear bunkers in major cities and strategic military sites, the past week saw a national drill involving 200,000 emergency responders and 40 million civilians.

The 4-day long exercise practiced a national response to a simulated nuclear strike on Russia by the US and represented a civil defense drill unprecedented in its scope. No small feat, in addition to the 40 million civilians and 200,000 emergency personnel, the effort involved an estimated 50,000 pieces of military equipment as well.  

Russian media, in a campaign to incite national fervor against the West, accompanied the national nuclear defense drill with rhetoric blaming nuclear escalation on US "schizophrenics" hungry for war. 

Understanding the possible consequences of a Russian invasion of Europe or open war with the US, Russia is taking steps to prepare its people for a nuclear counter attack, both psychologically and through drilling its citizenry and hardening its infrastructure.

Russian Deputy Defense Minister Nikolai Pankov briefly mentioned this week the possibility of re-establishing military bases in both Vietnam and Cuba, both of which had been closed in 2002 in an effort to scale-back Russian military presence around the world. Also this week, Russia sent additional warships into the Mediterranean to join the fleet already positioned there. 

The most recent warship, the Mirazh missile cruiser, follows after Wednesday's arrival of two more Black Sea Fleet missile corvettes, the Serpukhov and the Zelyony Dol, both of which carry a complement of Kaliber long-range missiles. 

Russian Navy representative Nikolay Voskresensky announced that these would add to the permanent Russian presence that is being used to conduct strikes within Syria and will be ready to respond to any threats. 

With such a series of Russian actions, including military buildup, large-scale aggressive exercises, massive civil defense drills, global expansion and even direct threats to NATO countries, there is little wonder that officials are concerned. 

Tensions have ratcheted higher and the possibility exists for a single bomb or missile to trigger war on a scale that the world hasn't seen for more than half a century. 

One Russian official recently summed up such fears by stating that if a US plane were seen as a threat to Syrian or Russian troops, there would be no time for a red-phone hotline call before it would be shot down by anti-aircraft missiles. That a wider war would inevitably follow is a foregone conclusion.

Christianity Is Approaching "Lights Out" In Germany
The fall of German Christianity leaves an emptiness that seems likely to be filled by a more multicultural and Islamic society. Germany today houses Europe's largest Muslim community.
"Contemporary historians ... right now, have failed to find a single historical example of a society that became secularised and maintained its birth rate over subsequent centuries," the former UK chief Rabbi, Jonathan Sacks, recently argued.
"Falling fertility has coincided so closely with massive secularization that we must at least ask whether the two phenomena are related, even if not in a neat one-to-one relationship", the scholar Philip Jenkins also said.
This is also true apparently for Germany.

Germans have been leaving the Catholic Church in droves. In 2015, 181,925 Germans formally chose apostasy. By comparison, only 2,685 people have converted to Catholicism. The number of baby baptisms has also decreased by one third, from 260,000 baptized in 1995 to 167,000 in 2015. 
The situation is even more dismal for weddings. Twenty years ago, 86,456 couples married in a church. Last year, the number dropped by almost half: in a nation of 80 million people, only 44,298 couples sworn eternal love in a church. The proportion of people who attend church has declined from 18.6% in 1995 to 10.4% in 2015.
This trend is called "the New Atheism" ("der neue Atheismus"). According to Detlef Pollack, a professor of religious sociology at the University of Münster, only 4% of east German Protestants regularly attend church today, compared to 15% in the 1950s. A recent study conducted by University of Chicago professor Tom W. Smith revealed that citizens of the former German Democratic Republic have, by far, "the world's highest rate of atheism."

When Hispanic-American pastors from around the country met in the nation's capital last week, the main issue on their agenda was not immigration or health care--it was Israel..

Is Russia Preparing For A Nuclear War With The United States?
In Russia there is talk that war with the United States is inevitable, and they are feverishly preparing to win such a war when it happens.
Thanks to tensions over Ukraine, Syria and the price of oil, U.S. relations with Russia are the worst that they have been since at least the end of the Cold War. 


In fact, one false move could result in U.S. and Russian forces shooting at each other in Syria as you will see below. The Russians have worked incredibly hard to upgrade and modernize their military in recent years, but meanwhile the U.S. military is being transformed into a radically politically-correct social experiment by the Obama administration.

Most Americans simply assume that we will never fight a war with Russia, and that if for some reason we did that we would win easily. Unfortunately, things have changed dramatically over the past decade, and the truth is that the Russians now have the upper hand.


Most Americans are accustomed to thinking that we have such an overwhelming strategic nuclear arsenal that nobody would ever dare mess with us. At one time that was true, but now it isn't. 


In fact, the size of the U.S. strategic nuclear arsenal has been reduced by more than 95 percent since the end of the Cold War, and now the Russians actually have more deployed nuclear warheads than we do. The following comes from the Daily Beast...


While the U.S. military has been steadily cutting the number of nukes it loads on submarines and bombers and in missile silos, Russian forces have recently been adding more.


Seemingly more worrying for the United States, Russia's 1,796 deployed warheads exceed--by a whopping 246 weapons--the cap of 1,550 deployed nuclear weapons that Moscow and Washington agreed to as part of the 2011 New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty.


The United States, meanwhile, is already well below the New START cap. America's missile submarines, nuclear-capable heavy bombers, and land-based intercontinental ballistic missiles are armed with just 1,367 warheads, the State Department says.


But it isn't just the number of warheads that we need to be concerned about. The Russians have developed a brand new intercontinental ballistic missile known as "the Sarmat" that is far more advanced than anything the U.S. currently has deployed...


The Sarmat will weigh at least 100-tons and carry a 10-ton payload. That means the missile could carry as many as 15 independently targeted thermo-nuclear warheads. It has a range of at least 6,000 miles. Once it is operational, it will be the largest ICBM ever built.


Like other modern Russian ICBMs such as the Yars, Topol-M and the Bulava, the Sarmat is being designed specifically to overcome ballistic missile defenses using a combination of decoys, a host of countermeasures and sheer speed. It might also be equipped with maneuvering warheads--which would make it much more difficult to intercept.


We have no way to stop the Sarmat, so once it is launched we are defenseless against it.


And each missile carries 15 independently targeted warheads, and so that means that for each missile that goes up, 15 warheads come down. Every one of those warheads can be directed to a different city, and so one Sarmat missile could essentially destroy an area approximately the size of Texas.


Meanwhile, the U.S. military continues to use hopelessly outdated technology. 60 Minutes has shown that many of our nuclear silos are still using rotary phones and the kind of 8-inch floppy disks that you can hold in your hand and actually flop around. And the Obama administration plans to keep Minuteman intercontinental ballistic missiles that were originally deployed in the 1960s and 1970s in service until 2030.


Of even greater concern than the Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile are the "black hole submarines" that Russia has developed. These stealth submarines are so quiet and so invisible that they can come right up to our coastlines without us even knowing that they are there.


So someday a fleet of Russian submarines may suddenly surface just off both coasts, launch a barrage of nuclear missiles at us, and we would only have moments to try to decide what to do before our cities, our nuclear forces and our leadership started getting hit by nukes.


And guess what? The Russians have now developed even newer submarines that are even quieter and stealthier than the subs that the U.S. Navy referred to as "black holes"...


"The stealth capabilities of Russia's new Lada-class diesel-electric submarines far exceed those of their predecessors, Admiraty Shipyard's CEO Alexander Buzakov told the Russian press.


"According to Buzakov, the new vessels are even stealthier than Russian Kilo-class submarines, thought to be one of the quietest diesel-electric submarine classes in the world and dubbed "black holes" for their ability to "disappear" from sonars.


"The new submarines are able to maintain such a low profile thanks to a clever implementation of a next-generation anti-reflective acoustic coating and a new improved hydro-acoustic system, Buzakov said.


In a surprise attack scenario, the U.S. may be able to get some missiles off at the Russians, but the Russians also have the most advanced anti-ballistic missile systems in the entire world. The S-500 is not an upgrade of the S-400, but a new design. It uses a lot of new technology and is superior to the S-400. It was designed to intercept ballistic missiles. It is planned to have a range of 500-600 km and hit targets at altitudes as high as 40 km. 


Some sources claim that this system is capable of tracking 5-20 ballistic targets and intercepting up to 5-10 ballistic targets simultaneously. It can defeat ballistic missiles traveling at 5-7 kilometers per second. It has been reported that this air defense system can also target low orbital satellites. It is planned that the S-500 will shield Moscow and the regions around it. 


It will replace the current A-135 anti-ballistic missile system. The S-500 missiles will be used only against the most important targets, such as intercontinental ballistic missiles, AWACS and jamming aircraft.


And you may have heard that the Russians have been deploying S-300 and S-400 missile systems to Syria. After hearing reports that the Obama administration may conduct direct strikes against Syrian military positions, the Russians responded by reminding the U.S. that the S-300 and S-400 systems will be used against any targets that attack areas controlled by the Syrian government. Russia's Defense Ministry has cautioned the US-led coalition of carrying out airstrikes on Syrian army positions, adding in Syria there are numerous S-300 and S-400 air defense systems up and running.


Russia currently has S-400 and S-300 air-defense systems deployed to protect its troops stationed at the Tartus naval supply base and the Khmeimim airbase. The radius of the weapons reach may be "a surprise" to all unidentified flying objects, Russian Defense Ministry spokesperson General Igor Konashenkov said.


According to the Russian Defense Ministry, any airstrike or missile hitting targets in territory controlled by the Syrian government would put Russian personnel in danger.

So what would happen if U.S. military aircraft started getting shot down by the Russians in Syria?

Another thing that has raised a lot of eyebrows is a massive "civil defense drill" in Russia that just concluded that involved 40 million people. Many believe that the primary purpose of this drill was to prepare the population for a nuclear war. The following comes from a major British news source...


The huge four-day "civil defence" drill has set alarm bells ringing in Washington and London, with tensions already high over disagreements in Syria.


Following a breakdown in communication between the USA and Russia, the Kremlin has now organised the huge emergency practice drill - either as a show of force or something more sinister.


The drill will prepare Russian citizens for "large natural and man-made disasters", according to the country's Ministery for Civil Defence, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disaster.


The ministry revealed 40 million civilians, 200,000 emergency rescuers and 50,000 units of equipment are involved in the war game, which is running from October 4 to October 7.

Most Americans don't realize this, but there are hundreds and hundreds of nuclear bomb shelters in Moscow alone. If a nuclear war were to start, Russian citizens are going to have somewhere to go.

After months of speculation whether the US would officially accuse Russia of being responsible for various intrusions and hacks, primarily involving the Democratic party, moments ago we finally got the long-anticipated confirmation when the US named Russia as the actor behind the hacking attempts on political organizations and, more importantly, state election systems and accused Putin of carrying out a wide-ranging campaign to interfere with the 2016 elections, including by hacking the computers of the Democratic National Committee and other political officials.


In a statement, the US "intelligence community" said that it is "confident" that the Russian government "directed the recent compromises of emails from US persons and institutions, including from US political organisations", the Department of Homeland Security and Director of National Intelligence on Election Security said in a joint statement.


The US added that "these thefts and disclosures are intended to interfere with the US election process".


Over in Russia, they are very upset with us as well.


The Russians believe that the U.S. was responsible for the overthrow of the democratically-elected government in Ukraine, they believe that the U.S. helped start the civil war in Syria while Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State (and this is true), and they believe that the U.S. pushed the price of oil way down in order to hurt the Russian economy.


And it isn't just the Russian leadership that is very angry with the United States. According to Gallup, American leadership has a 1 percent approval rating in Russia at this point.


If you listen to Russian media, there is constant talk of war. The Russians consider the U.S. to be the great force for evil in the world, and they consider themselves to be the great force for good in the world. 


And there seems to be this overwhelming belief that an ultimate confrontation between good and evil is inevitable. Just consider the following excerpt from an article authored by leading Russian thinker Alexander Dugin entitled "Third World War Has Never Been So Close"...


The globalist US leadership obviously cannot rule the whole world and, what's more, the threat posed by Trump puts their control over America itself into question. Now, while the puppet Barack Obama is still in office and the globalist candidate Hillary Clinton is falling apart in front of American voters' very eyes, is the last chance to start a war. 


This would allow them to postpone elections or force Trump, if he were to win, to begin his presidency in catastrophic conditions. Thus, the US neoconservatives and globalists need war. The globalists' game has been revealed. Soon enough, they'll have to step down from power and appear before court. Only war can save their situation.


But what about us? We don't need war. Not now, now tomorrow, never. Never in history have we needed war. But we have constantly fought and, in fact, we have almost never lost. The cost entailed terrible losses and colossal efforts, but we won. And we will always win. If this were not so, then today we wouldn't have such an enormous country free from foreign control.
Sadly, most ordinary Americans aren't paying attention to any of this.
Most ordinary Americans still think that the Russians are "our friends" and that there is not even the slightest possibility that we could go to war with them.


Let us certainly hope that war with Russia does not happen any time soon, because there is a very good chance that we would not wind up on the winning side.

While most Americans are focused on the endless circus surrounding Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, a drama of earth-shattering importance is playing out behind the scenes. 
Most people seem to assume that we don't have to be concerned about Barack Obama anymore because his second term is scheduled to end in a few months, but the truth is that an absolutely critical decision is in his hands right now. 


Both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton have said that they will not support a proposed UN Security Council resolution that would formally establish a Palestinian state, that would set the parameters for the new state, and that would grant them East Jerusalem as their capital.

Could you pass a basic theology quiz? Several thousand Americans just tried. Uh-oh. Too bad God doesn't grade on a curve.
One thing is certain: Americans love the Bible. A recent report from The American Bible Society and Barna Group finds that two-thirds of the nation believe the Bible contains "everything a person needs to know in order to live a meaningful life." 


And a vast majority of folks in this country still consider themselves Christians. But just how deep does their Christianity run?
Not very, according to the results of a survey released late last month by LifeWay Research. The survey, commissioned by Ligonier Ministries, asked 3,000 participants a set of 47 questions about foundational Christian beliefs.
Many of the answers revealed a mishmash of heresy and confusion about Christianity's most basic doctrines.


Seventy percent of Americans agree there's only one true God--one in essence, three in person: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Yet almost the same number believe God accepts the worship of all other religions, even those that deny the Trinity or worship other deities. 


Sixty-one percent correctly say Jesus is both human and divine, but half think that He's also "the first and greatest being created by God," rather than existing eternally, as Scripture and the ancient creeds of the faith teach.
More bizarre contradictions emerged: Over sixty percent of Americans say that God, Who cannot err, is the Author of the Bible. Yet fewer than half are willing to affirm that the Bible God wrote is "one hundred percent accurate in all it teaches."

In recent weeks, the S. Daniel Abraham Center has been sponsoring full-page ads in The New York Times calling for a Palestinian state. The Obama administration this week issued an overheated condemnation of Israel for approving the construction of a handful of houses for Jews, because that construction might interfere with the emergence of a Palestinian state. 


And there have been reports that the United Nations, perhaps with the support of President Obama, will soon issue some new Palestinian statehood resolution.

Abbas is 81-years-old. His recent heart episode illustrated the fragility of his health. And, at his age, if it's not his heart, it will soon be something else. One of these days, and it won't be long, he will no longer be physically able to govern the Palestinian Authority (PA).
 
So, let's imagine for a moment if Israel were to listen to Obama, the U.N. and S. Daniel Abraham and permit the creation of a fully sovereign Palestinian state. And then imagine if, shortly after signing a statehood agreement with Israel, Abbas is incapacitated. What would follow?
There are, I think, two possibilities.
The most likely scenario is that the terror group Hamas would take over. It has the troops and weapons needed for a coup. They already defeated Abbas's Fatah forces and took over Gaza nine years ago. 


And Hamas has widespread support among ordinary Palestinians judging from the results of the few elections that Abbas had permitted over the years.
So Hamas, which openly advocates the annihilation of Israel and the genocide of Israel's 6.4 million Jews, would be in control of a full-fledged state with borders straddling Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.

Do Christians Know Their Doctrine?
How well does the average American understand basic Christian doctrine? LifeWay Research and Ligonier Ministries decided to find out and have just published the results of a second large-scale survey conducted of 3,000 American adults who were presented with 47 questions on basic Christian doctrine.
In the previous study, respondents were left free to self-identify as evangelicals but in the most recent survey, the answers to several key questions were used to identify Christians as evangelical by their beliefs.

Of the 3,000 total adults surveyed, 586 individuals provided statements that identified them as evangelicals. Allowing a comparison to the previous survey in which individuals self-identified, the result was surprisingly similar in most regards.
For purposes of the survey, an evangelical Christian is someone who believes that the Bible is the highest authority, the spreading the Gospel is important, that Christ's sacrifice on the cross is the only way to atone for our sins and that belief in Jesus Christ is the only means of salvation. 
The research extracted from the full forty-seven questions shows a wide range of differences within Christian orthodoxy, either in the form of differing belief or admitted confusion over specific points of doctrine.

Sharia Remains Powerful Force In Muslim World
A survey conducted by The Polling Company for the Center for Security Policy found that a majority of those surveyed (51%) agreed that "Muslims in America should have the choice of being governed according to Sharia."
Indications are that virtually everywhere, Sharia adherents are growing in number.  In addition, most expect their secular or Christian host nations not only to show deference to their stricter version of Islam but to comply with it in the suburbs that they dominate.
That may sound preposterous but it's happening -- even with governmental support in certain secular or supposedly Christian nations that are bending over backward not to appear Islamophobic. Never mind that respect for non-Islamic faiths is non-existent anywhere that Sharia law is enforced.
As Clare Byrne for afp.com recently wrote, around one in four French Muslims (mostly young people) supports an ultra-conservative form of Islam, including the wearing of the full-face veil, but the vast majority accepts France's strict secular laws.

Europe's "Good Terrorists": Because They Might Destroy Israel?
The European Court of Justice (EJC) is sending a message to Hamas that Europeans see no problem with Hamas's desire to destroy Israel and continue to launch terrorist attacks against Jews. This message also undermines those Palestinians who still believe in a peace with Israel.
Once again, the Europeans seem to be in Alice's Wonderland when they consider Palestinian affairs in particular and the Middle East in general. The renewed attempt by the European Union to remove the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas from its terrorism list is a case in point.
Recently, an advisor to the European Court of Justice (ECJ) recommended that Hamas be removed from the EU's terrorism blacklist. In 2014, the EU's second-highest court ruled that Hamas should be taken off the list on "technical" grounds. 
It argued that Hamas's listing was not based on evidence, but on "factual imputations derived from the press and the internet."

However, the European Council then appealed this judgement, arguing that Hamas should remain on the terrorism blacklist, citing a 2001 decision by the UK and the US that designated both Hamas and the Tamil Tigers as terrorist groups. 
But the recent opinion by the ECJ advisor dismisses this argument. "The council cannot rely on facts and evidence found in press articles and information from the internet," Advocate General Eleanor Sharpton said. She explained that the council could not rely on terrorist listings by countries (the UK and US) outside the EU.
This latest highly dangerous European attempt to strike Hamas from the terrorism blacklist will, as the EU knows perfectly well, only serve further to embolden the Islamist movement to replace Israel with an Islamic empire.

Berkowitz explained that counting the Jubilee is a simple mitzvah, reciting just a few lines, but performing this mitzvah is a declaration that the prophesied return of the Jews to Israel has been fulfilled, thereby establishing a basis for the rebuilding of the Jewish Temple.

The sport of murdering Jews does not stop. On June 30, at dawn, in Kiryat Arba, a young Arab broke through a window, and stabbed a 13-year-old American-Israeli girl, Hallel Yaffa Ariel, to death.
The young Arab who stabbed Hallel Yaffa Ariel was shot dead just after the assault. His mother said she was proud of her son. The Palestinian Authority (PA) said he was a hero and a "martyr."
This year alone, 24 Israeli Jews were murdered, many gruesomely. Every time one of the murderers was shot, his family declared how proud they were, and the Palestinian Authority celebrated him. New murderers are preparing new attacks.

LGBT Is Not A Color: Stop Hijacking Civil Rights
Are sexual orientation and gender identity the same as race? That message is being snuck in all over the place.
I just saw a commercial during a football game that inspired me, and then irked me. A young black girl is shown growing up in the Civil Rights era, watching the achievements of African American athletes, political activists, and religious leaders. 
Believing she can become anything if she sets her mind to it, she fights for acceptance in financial firms, eventually graduates with an MBA, and becomes a Wall Street executive. "You may trod me in the very dirt," she says, "but still, like dust, I rise."

It's a great message. But halfway through this ad for the University of Phoenix, alumna Gail Marquis is shown marching hand-in-hand with LGBT activists and waving a rainbow flag. The implication is crystal clear: The fight of African-Americans for equal rights is the same one LGBT Americans are fighting today.
Unbelievably, this conflation between skin color and sexual orientation surfaced during the recent unrest in Charlotte, North Carolina. In an interview with historian Brenda Tindal, Public Radio International's John Hockenberry suggested that protesters and rioters who took to the street following the police shooting of Lamont Scott were actually angry about--get this--the new transgender bathroom law! In a recent keynote speech at Planned Parenthood, the radical feminist Gloria Steinem somehow succeeded in linking abortion with climate change in a way that is both antihuman and deeply disturbing.
According to Steinem, "Forced childbirth is the single biggest cause of global warming". For Steinem, not only is protecting the right of a woman's unborn fetus now a "forced childbirth", but it is the single greatest catalyst for global warming. 
Her logic is simple, and chilling in its implications: people produce carbon, thus more people will bring greater carbon emissions while fewer people will bring lower carbon emissions. 
But what about the stated goal of several environmental radicals like Bill Gates who claim to want to reduce carbon emissions to zero?

Obama Has Learned Nothing About the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict
The Palestinians are unwilling to make any territorial compromises that would lead to a two-state solution. They continue to show support for the strategy whereby they would accept a Palestinian state in the West Bank and Gaza only as a first stage in the eventual liberation of all of "Palestine".
President Obama's failure to learn anything in the last eight years about the Palestinian-Israeli dispute was evident in his final speech to the UN General Assembly. 
In the mere 31 words that he devoted to the subject, he laid bare his ignorance: "Israelis and Palestinians will be better off if Palestinians reject incitement and recognize the legitimacy of Israel," he said. "But Israel recognizes that it cannot permanently occupy and settle Palestinian land."
Sounds reasonable enough, doesn't it? Both sides have responsibility for the conflict -- except they don't.

First, the Palestinian side of the equation was severely understated. Yes, the Palestinians must reject incitement, but they must also actively prevent terrorism. They must stop using US and EU taxpayer money to pay terrorists and their families. 
Yasser Arafat said he recognized Israel, but it has been clear since that 1993 letter to Yitzhak Rabin that the Palestinians do not accept the legitimacy of Israel as the national home of the Jewish people.
Furthermore, the Palestinians are unwilling to make any territorial compromises that would lead to a two-state solution. 
They continue to show support for the strategy whereby they would accept a Palestinian state in the West Bank and Gaza only as a first stage in the eventual liberation of all of "Palestine" -- a goal reflected in Palestinian media, maps, crossword puzzles, textbooks, Fatah insignias, and every other venue one can name.
Worse, the possibility of a political solution to the conflict has been eliminated not by Israeli actions, but by the ascendancy of radical Islam -- best represented by Hamas -- in Palestinian society.

Turkey: Land of Mosques, Prisons and the Uneducated
One way the rise of Islamist authoritarianism in a country can be seen is by the rise in the number of mosques, religious schools and prisons -- coupled with a sharp decline in the quality of education. Turkey is no exception.
Most recently, the Turkish government said that it would build 174 new prisons, increasing capacity by 100,000 convicts. This is Turkey's reply to complaints that six convicts must share a cell built for three. Convicts say they must sleep in turns in their bunk beds.

Before that, Turkey's government released nearly 40,000 convicted criminals, in order to make space for tens of thousands of suspects, including journalists, businessmen and academics, detained after the failed coup of July 15.
The other type of trendy building in Turkey is the mosque. Turkey's state-funded Directorate for Religious Affairs (Diyanet) has proudly announced that nearly 9,000 new mosques were built across the country between 2005 and 2015. 
The number of mosques in Turkey is estimated at around 90,000, or one mosque per 866 people. Iran, with a similar population to Turkey's [nearly 78 million] boasts just 48,000 mosques. In other words, Turkey has twice as many mosques as the Islamic Republic of Iran, for roughly the same population. Egypt, which has a population -- nearly 90 million -- bigger than Turkey's, has 67,000 mosques.
Turkey's president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has not only been building mosques and prisons to further Islamize the country. He has also passionately been building religious schools [from which he once graduated]. 
He boasts that during his term as prime minister and president (since November 2002), the number of students enrolled at religious schools, officially called "imam schools," has risen from 60,000 to more than 1.2 million -- a 20-fold increase. In his study, "The Islamization of Turkey: Erdogan's Education Reforms," Svante E. Cornell wrote that:
"The growing efforts at Islamization of Turkish society have largely gone unnoticed. For many years, Islamization was the dog that did not bark: in spite of dire predictions by secularists, the ruling AKP did not introduce conspicuous efforts to Islamize Turkey. But since 2011, this has changed.

Christian Schools Under Pressure To Have Gay Clubs
Several Christian schools are under fire after telling the Alberta Education Minister that they would not comply with his demands that all school boards throughout the province submit policies as to how they would accommodate homosexual and transgender students.
Let them - or else. That, in a nutshell, was the stern warning -- in the name of provincial law - that was given to Canadian Pastor Brian Coldwell, chairman of the Independent Baptist Christian Education Society and pastor of New Testament Baptist Church. Non-compliance could see the schools lose their charter as well as millions of dollars in tax- funded revenues.
Coldwell was ordered specifically specifically to allow gays freedom to form homosexual clubs in his Christian schools amongst the vast majority of straight students.

The orders are in blatant and direct contravention of the school's moral standards, not to mention the rights of straight students not to be coerced or influenced against their strongly-held religious convictions.
Heather Clark for christiannews.net further noted that Pastor Coldwell is standing firm and has, so far, refused to buckle under the pressure. Coldwell runs Meadows Baptist Academy and Harvest Baptist Academy in Parkland County in Alberta.
Alberta Education Minister David Eggen reportedly sent the demand letter to Coldwell on September 2nd.  Earlier this year, Eggen had also sent a letter to school boards throughout the province, advising that officials must draft and submit policies by the end of March explaining how they would accommodate homosexual and transgender students.
But Coldwell told CBC News that he would not comply.
"I have a duty as a pastor to protect the flock of God," he said. "And there is no way under Heaven I'm going to allow gay activists to come in here and basically undermine our ministries and our religious freedoms or confuse and corrupt our children."
"To be able to come into religious institutions, Christian schools, churches and demand that we permit them to set up their GSA clubs and have a platform to advance what I would call anti-Christian, hostile liberal, secular values, undermines our Christian faith," Coldwell said.
He added that students are free to choose other schools if they don't align with the Christian faith and its teachings on sexuality.
"If a student doesn't agree with our statement of faith, and our Christian moral values and so forth, then they have the option of attending many other schools--secular schools, non-religious schools," he told the CBC. "We're not saying that the gay community doesn't have any rights. But they just don't have the right to come in here and push their agenda, or what you might call the rainbow ideology.
