Hello all,
Sometimes I just don't feel like praying for something someone has asked. I can say the words and go through the motions, but why do that when I know it isn't touching the throne of God?
I know one thing, prayer has to be real. It hasn't got to be pious or theological or posh sounding or anything, but it does have to be real. So if someone asks me for prayer for this or that, and it doesn't make my heart reach out for them, I either pray in tongues without understanding, because God knows what is going on and maybe He doesn't want to share it with me right now; or I just don't do it, until I get that burden to do it.
I do think there are some who are sent to wear us out. There is a lot of trouble already out there without wasting time on unreal situations or people who just want attention and will do what they know gets it for them.
I don't think we have to waste time feeling bad about not praying for them either, if we seriously don't feel led to pray the way they ask.
There is a load of difference between a dry religious prayer, and one that comes bubbling up from within. The first just feels like hard work. The second is a pleasure and a privilege, and a service which is somehow buoyant in the will of God.
Hope that helps!
Love, Mary

When we faithfully serve the Lord I believe although at times, I believe we can allow emotions to get in our way.
God is good always he has promised He will always provide a way of escape in our circumstance.
The point I am making is when counselling as best we can,
Some time we have to say:
Seek God for yourself, is this person draining us in what God want us to do?
Does that person have a "problem" which God and them need to sort.
These are a few thoughts which came my way which I thought was good for discusion.
Let a man examine himself if he/she is in God's plan
Just my thoughts

I think that we still pray, but ask Jesus for the strength to cope with it, Elaine. Acceptance is easier for some than others, Free. I always seem to get too involved. Jess (youngest daughter) was a Samaritan and says you shouldn't do that, otherwise you will be as burdened as they are, but it's hard when you are a caring person to cast something like that out of your mind.

Any Given Situation in hand is only a burden if you choose to see it as a burden ........to pray for another is a Gift in itself and a privililege ........The word that springs to mind is Acceptane ............

Burden or Melencholy spirit
God presses on our heart a burden to pray and/or come closer?
Often God does burden us with a person or persons to pray for.
How do we differentiate the difference and how furthermore, do we resolve if is an melencholy spirit how to hand this over to Jesus and what is our responsibility as caring brothers and sisters.
