Hello Elaine,
 
We have been exploring the essential attributes of God.
 
God is all-powerful, all-knowing, and always present.
 
These are tremendous - but there is ONE THING that makes God Who He is.
 
This ONE THING is greater than all the other three combined.
 
Without this ONE THING God, as we know Him, could not be.
 
What is this ONE THING?
 
God is Omnibenevolent - that is, He is perfect and unlimited in His goodness.
 
Without THAT, God would still be all-powerful, all-knowing, and always present - but you would never be sure whether God was for you, or against you.
 
Out of fear, you might create a religion designed around appeasing this all-powerful, all-seeing, always present God so He would not get mad and destroy you - perhaps you could persuade Him to bless you and give you things instead.
 
Well, that is precisely what all religions have been created for - including the Christian religion, "Churchianity."
 
In Churchianity we learn that sinners are in the hands of an "angry God" Who would just as soon burn you to a crisp as look at you.
 
Of course, this angry God is happy with us Christians - so long as we believe in Jesus, read the Bible, pray, go to church, pay our tithes, submit to the pastor, and keep all the rules and regulations of the Institutional Church.
 
And if we don't, watch out - because the "angry God" is coming for you, too.
 
The Roman Catholic church has used these fear tactics to control KINGS AND KINGDOMS for 2000 years.
 
The Protestant church uses these fear tactics on a smaller scale, but with equal damage.
 
The problem is that Religion ignores the most critical attribute of God: His omnibenevolence.
 
As a result, fear-based Religion gets in the way of a love-based Relationship.
 
When that happens, FEAR (not faith) governs our lives.
 
We use fear to get people saved.
 
We use fear to keep people attending church.
 
We use fear to get to people submit, obey, believe, and support.
 
The way out of this fear-based religion (besides not attending and support it) is getting to know God AS HE IS - and especially His omnibenevolence.
 
God is perfect and unlimited in His goodness, holiness, and love!
 
What a relief!
 
This brings perfect balance to all His other attributes and helps us transcend the fear-based religion that ruled our lives for so many years.

The Last Exodus

Hello Elaine,
 
Can you resist God?
Yes, you can.

You can even limit the omnipotent God through unbelief and rebellion.
 
You just can't resist Him forever.
 
His longsuffering (patient love) can outlast the most stubborn sinner.
 
In the same way, can you run from God?
 
Yes, of course you can.
 
Many people do.
 
But you cannot hide from God.
 
He's bigger than you.
 
He sees you.
 
He knows you.
 
Jonah tried to run from God... and how did that turn out?
 
Personally, I would rather cooperate with God than try to run from God and get swallowed by a great big fish.
 
But either way, God knows where you live.
 
He knows where you are.
 
That can be frightening, or it can be comforting.
 
The truth is that God's presence is intended to be a comfort, not a curse.
 
Thankfully, we cannot resist Him or run away from Him forever.
 
He fills heaven and earth with His presence!

Entering His Rest

I come into contact with a great number of people who are coming out of the religious system, and they are usually full of a lot of anxiety and excitement.
 
When they ask me for advice, I counsel them to take a year off and “do nothing” for awhile. What I mean is, religion has kept you doing, doing, doing for God. There needs to be a season of rest. You need to experience a Sabbath day and just “be” with Jesus in terms of spiritual activity. Oh yes, that sounds so nice, but I have seldom met anyone who could do it. They come out of church, and before you know it they start a home church, or they go looking for fellowship with others, or they get restless and end up going back to church where things are more familiar. The idea of just being with Jesus and resting for awhile is completely foreign to their understanding.

Hello Elaine,

I have observed that "disappointment with God" is not really disappointment with God at all - it is simply that feeling of frustration we get when the "God" we created in our own mind fails to live up to our unrealistic, unbiblical expectations of Who He is and what He is supposed to do.
 
Too many people create a mental image of God in their head, or blindly accept what the Church tells them, and this sets them up for disappointment.
 
Is there way to understand - and possibly define - Who God REALLY is?
 
On the one hand, to think that we can fathom God is somewhat like an ant trying to fathom human beings.
 
But on the other hand, while we have made no effort at all to make ourselves known to the ants, God has gone out of His way to make Himself known to us!
 
For that reason, I believe we CAN know Who God is, because He has revealed Himself to us in different ways so that He CAN be known.
 
That capacity to know Him is there because He breathed something of Himself into us from the beginning, making us in His image and in His likeness.
 
And, while God is infinite, there are certain basic elements (what I call "essential attributes") that form a good basis for better knowing, understanding, and relating to God as He in fact IS.
 
Maybe this will help us to better know Him, and to better trust Him, when disappointments come.

The Sad Story of a Wise Old Fool

May I say that all the accomplishments and blessings of a lifetime are worthless if you do not finish well. Running well is important, but finishing well is even more important.

I have stated before, and I repeat: the majority of Christians today are not on track to finish well. They do not run well. In fact, they do not run or advance at all. They sit just inside the Narrow Gate, rejoicing in a future hope and a future salvation, relaxed and comfortable in the knowledge that they have passed through the Gate, so all is well. They are not walking the Path of Christ-centered spiritual growth and maturity. They are content to look backwards to what God was doing in their life twenty, thirty or forty years ago; to what God told them then, what God showed them then. They are nostalgic for the “good old days,” but have no present truth, no fresh clear vision that compels them to keep moving forward, no motivation or incentive to finish well – to finish with joy, to go out with a bang, to be full of fire right up until they take their final breath...

Hello Elaine,
 
Something should be driving us to pray.
 
There should be some unction, some inner compulsion, to seek God, to seek Him early, and to seek Him often.
 
If that is not our daily experience then something is wrong.
 
Perhaps we have grown complacent, or comfortable, or cold.
 
Whatever the reason, vision is the cure.
 
If we have truly seen God’s Purpose we cannot just go along as before. 
 
Daniel has seen the Purpose; Daniel has ordered his life according to that Purpose; and Daniel is in the daily habit of praying for that Purpose to be fulfilled.
 
Something bigger than himself is fueling his prayers.
 
He is daily paying the price, living according to the Truth he claims to agree with, demonstrating the preeminence of Christ, showing that “the heavens do rule.” 
 
So in him we see the Remnant Principle.

Hello Elaine,
 
The “first year of Darius” marks the end of Babylon and the beginning of a concentrated effort on the behalf of Daniel to fast and pray for the return of the Jews back to Jerusalem, for the rebuilding of the Temple, and for the coming of the Messiah, the Christ.
 
Daniel was so urgent in this that he withdrew three times a day to pray.
 
But whenever you decide to turn your face away from the earthly and towards the heavenly, towards the face of the Lord, you touch spiritual conflict.
 
It is a battle to get into prayer, and a battle to stay in prayer.

So it is not coincidental that an edict outlawing prayer is suddenly proclaimed in the first year of Darius.
 
As soon as Daniel rises up to pray for the fulfillment of God’s Purpose, the enemy responds by threatening his life.
 
The spirit of Antichrist is once again directly challenging the Remnant, threatening to destroy it, in an attempt to frustrate God’s Purpose.
 
Whatever your present situation, difficulties, or challenges, you will also experience spiritual conflict if you try to do the right thing.
 
The easiest thing to do is to give up, give in, go along to get along.
 
The Lord needs people willing to stand firm and be strong in the power of the Lord.
 
You may not be facing a literal lion's den, but your adversary the devil is walking around as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
 
So we're not going to give him one inch of ground to get an advantage over us!

The Cure for "Prophetic Pains"

 I can quickly relate a dozen experiences I’ve had with flaky people (both men and women) who thought they were “prophetic.” 
 
They always show up at my meetings and want to pray for me. Then they always think they “see” something wrong with me, or they want to give me a “word.” And they are always off the mark.

This used to bother and upset me – now, I try to have a little fun with it.
One lady gave me the great revelation that there was something “wrong with my heart.”

Something to think about...

If God will do whatever He wishes, regardless of whether we pray or not, then we do not need to pray at all, and the Lord’s instructions on praying for the Kingdom and the Will are superfluous.
 
But the truth is that God waits for a Remnant to rise up and to pray in agreement with His Purpose before He does anything – He will do nothing apart from the Ekklesia.
 
Apart from HIM, we CAN do nothing; apart from US, He WILL do nothing.
 
Here is my point: the Lord searches the whole Earth, and when He has found a person who sees that Purpose, and daily orders their life according to that Purpose, and (here is the key!) consistently rises up to pray for the fulfillment of that Purpose, then God will move Heaven and Earth on behalf of that person; for He has found, at last, some ground to build upon.
 
That person is numbered with the Remnant because, I promise you, men and women like that are few and far between.
 
Are you such a person?
 
If not, you can be.

Put Ye On the Lord Jesus

 Too many of us take a natural, intellectual approach to Christianity. 

We think if only we can instruct people concerning the tenets of our faith, or persuade them with a logical argument, or woo them with some emotional plea, then we will have disciples. This is a falsehood. That is not Spirit and Life. Christianity is not memorizing certain doctrines or disseminating a systematic theology or having people repeat a so-called “Sinner’s Prayer”. Christianity is becoming one with a God-Man! You can have all the other in its proper place, but for too long that “other” has been offered as Christianity. And so people touch our beliefs, our doctrines, our religion, our theology, our zeal, but they do not touch a Living Christ...

Hello Elaine,
 
Do we have a “word from God,” or do we have God Himself?
 
Are we so into the next prophetic “thing” that we have missed the Lord?
 
Everyone sees the handwriting on the wall. A handful of people can translate it – but that does not make them prophetic.
 
Only a Remnant can give the meaning.
 
The Remnant, because it clearly sees God’s Purpose, can accurately interpret all things through the filter of that Purpose.
 
That "writing on the wall" has become a modern-day proverb for a prediction of a coming catastrophe.
 
True... but it is also a prediction of the fulfillment of God's eternal purpose concerning His Son.
 
It is both the increasing of Christ and the decreasing of everything opposed to Christ.
 
I see the handwriting on the walls of our governments, our education systems, our financial institutions, the nations of the world.
 
They are all being decreased.
 
But how am I able to see it so clearly?
 
Because the same thing is happening inside of me! The same thing is happening inside of you!
 
As He increases, everything else decreases.
 
Do you understand this?
 
If you truly understand this then you are the minority.
 
You are part of the Remnant.
 
If you don't understand it, that's OK.

Pleasing Man

A Christian who desires to give Christ the preeminence in all things will eventually discover that what God wants is often very different from what people want.
 
Most Christians I know want to please God but they also want to please people or please themselves and Jesus said no one can serve two masters. I’m not saying be rude and abrasive and uncaring.
