Re: Chip Brogden CHURCH WITHOUT WALLS
I just read something pretty scary.
Basically, it said that the way we see God affects how we see ourselves and how we see others.
Well, that certainly explains why people behave the way they do.
If we see God as angry, strict, and ready to judge the slightest imperfection, that’s the way we become.
If we see God as full of grace and mercy, we become more graceful and merciful.
We tend to create God in our own image and imagine that He is exactly the way we are.
If you have Daddy issues you’re going to have a warped perspective of your Heavenly Father.
Some folks have been abused for so long they cannot imagine God as anything other than an abusive Husband or Spouse.
And the church hasn’t helped – they feed into this fear and perpetuate it to protect their own power base.
What if God isn’t at all the way you’ve been taught?
I wonder how many of God’s children are bound by a wrong view of God?
I wonder how many are putting others into bondage with their own warped view of God?
Either living in fear and guilt that they don’t measure up, or assuming they do and no one else does?
I have prayed about this for several months now and I have a real burden to shine the line of truth in this area and set some people free.
That’s why I’m inviting you to join us online for a new series of live teachings, starting this Friday.

Re: Chip Brogden CHURCH WITHOUT WALLS
Hi Elaine,
Ah.. the New Year.
Nothing has really changed except the calendar.
But when we mark the end of the old year and the beginning of the new year it speaks to the spiritual principle of death and resurrection.
As new creations in Christ, “old things have passed away and behold, all things have become new.”
As we grow in Him, we “put off the old man” and “put on the new man.”
Indeed, all creation is moving through death towards resurrection, and at the end of it we see God declare, “Behold, I make all things new!”
There is something liberating about starting over, turning over a new leaf, making a fresh start, wiping the slate clean.
Leaving the old things behind and moving onward and upwards toward the high call of God.
Now is as good a time as any.
Oh, you still have problems and challenges and unresolved issues.
We all do.
God does not always remove the thorn, but He does give more grace.
His amazing grace is not about changing THINGS but changing YOU.
That is the miracle of death and resurrection.
He kills so He can make alive.
Embrace the cross.
Follow the Truth wherever He leads.
Begin today.
Happy New YOU.

Re: Chip Brogden CHURCH WITHOUT WALLS
Elaine,
Yesterday I said my new book is totally based on Scripture - Romans 9, 10 and 11.
So when I said the subtitle is:
"God's Stubborn Nercy Defeats Man's Stubborn Unbelief!"
Oops! I meant MERCY, not NERCY!
Not exactly the great message of hope I intended in the email :-)
Thanks for catching that - you'll be happy to know I didn't make that particular mistake in the book.
And thanks for those of you who saw it - smiled - and bought the book anyway.
Because you know I'm not perfect, but I'm way more than just forgiven!
If you missed this yesterday here's what I'm talking about:

Enjoy!

Re: Chip Brogden CHURCH WITHOUT WALLS
Hey Elaine,
My new book just came out on Amazon:
http://chipbrogden.com/books/what-about-israel
You know how Uncle Joe or Aunt Sally or Mom or Dad or your kid or someone else you know and love is just STUBBORN about spiritual things?
They don't want to hear anything about God, Jesus or the Bible!
And you're concerned about them - maybe even worried!
That's what this book is about.
Paul was anguished over the stubborness of Israel and their refusal to accept Jesus as Messiah.
So he goes to God and prays...
And God gives Paul an unexpected, shocking, but thrilling answer.
I don't want to spoil it for you, but basically God says:
"Don't worry - Israel's fall is not fatal, their blindness is temporary, and when the time is right, I'm going to save them all. In fact, I am temporarily holding all of them in a prison of unbelief so I can have mercy on them all!"
Wow!
You think I'm making this up?
Nope.
This book is totally based on Scripture - Romans 9, 10 and 11.
It's a message of HOPE for all the Uncle Joes, Aunt Sallys, and the rest of your hard-headed family and friends:
"God's Stubborn Nercy Defeats Man's Stubborn Unbelief!"
That's such a great message I used it as the subtitle of my book.
Anyway, check it out:

Re: Chip Brogden CHURCH WITHOUT WALLS
Hey Elaine,
Do you want to hear something crazy?
When I was first born-again, I thought...
NOTHING CAN STOP ME NOW... I'LL NEVER SIN AGAIN!
(Haha!)
And I would go ALMOST the whole day without sinning.
But something would happen and I would mess up.
The next day I tried again... and failed.
Next day, same thing.
And so on.
I thought I must be a failure.
As it turns out, a lot of God's people still struggle to overcome sin.
Addictions, bad habits, or even one-time mistakes or failures can bring Christians into bondage to guilt, shame, and fear.
They might even question their salvation, or worry if God can truly forgive them.
Now, if you have already achieved sinless perfection then this is not for you.
But for the rest of us, I thought it would be good to go to God's Word and see what He has to say about it.

Re: Chip Brogden CHURCH WITHOUT WALLS
Hey Elaine,
I have this crazy belief that being a Christian is more than attending meetings your whole life.
But I still have a lot of people who ask about gathering, fellowship, going to church, etc. etc.
Here's why I don't think it really matters:
http://www.chipbrogden.com/family-fellowship-and-leadership/
Personally?
I think Christians have a serious case of "Meetingitus" that needs to be healed.

The Pharisees and Sadducees are alive and well in the Christian church.
They may go by other names, but it is the same spirit of religion that drives them.
I’m so glad that Jesus did NOT say, “Love them where they are and try to understand their viewpoint… their hearts are in the right place, and after all, they are trying to do the right thing.”
That is the leaven of liberalism that even now has infected the whole loaf.
Take heed and beware of their teachings.
What are they?
In this series of teachings I’m going to cover who the Pharisees and Saducees are, as well as the main things they teach, so you can learn to recognize and avoid it when you hear it.
This is a three-part message on downloadable MP3 files.

Re: Chip Brogden CHURCH WITHOUT WALLS
Hi Elaine,
Paul said, "I thank God upon every remembrance of you."
I know exactly how he feels, because that is how I feel whenever I think of my friends and family in the Lord Jesus.
You are not alone... even though the connection seems frail at times (since we are not face-to-face), we remain one body in Christ, wherever we may be scattered.
This single purpose - a Christ-centered Faith - unites us in a bond of fellowship that is stronger than any meeting or gathering.
I have witnessed this, and have been privileged to see it among so many precious brothers and sisters from all over the world during the course of the last twenty years of writing, teaching, and sharing over the Internet.
I know the Lord will continue to reveal the depths of His love and grace to us as we seek HIM "outside the camp."
Karla and I pray the blessing of the Lord Jesus upon you and your household.
Thanking God for your freedom and joy IN HIM...

The Goal of This Age
by Chip Brogden
I came to the realization one day that I will not be perfected in this lifetime.
My wife has known this for years, but as a perfectionist the news hit me hard. It should have been reassuring! That there are “ages to come” where God will continue to demonstrate His grace and kindness to all (Eph. 2:7) – particularly to those who didn’t fully grasp it in this age – is very, very good news!
That means people are a work in progress.
What then is God’s goal for this age? If not spiritual perfection, then perhaps it is something more attainable...

Hey Elaine,
The Cross is the most critical element of a Christ-centered Faith!
It is where we are "joined to the Lord" and become "one spirit with Him."
If you think you know all there is to know about the Cross then you still haven't seen anything yet!

Re: Chip Brogden CHURCH WITHOUT WALLS
Hey Elaine,
Occasionally I get emails from folks asking why they have to take up the Cross and die to themselves.
Is it too harsh? Too morbid?
Not at all!
If you look at it in terms of a RELIGIOUS duty, then it does sound scary and impossible.
But...
If you look at it in terms of a RELATIONSHIP then it makes total sense!
Whenever you totally give yourself for someone you love (spouse, children, etc.) then in a sense you are DYING to yourself.
In other words, you are forgetting about yourself and putting the other person ahead of you and your needs.
That's called LOVE!!!
And it's the only way to truly understand what DYING TO SELF means in the context of your love-relationship with God.
From that perspective, the Cross is like your wedding ring - it is a symbol of how the "two shall become one."
That is EXACTLY what God does for us through the Cross, which is why we "take it up" daily!
That is EXACTLY why the Cross is most critical element of a Christ-centered Faith!
Are you beginning to see it now?
It's a joy, not a burden!
There is much more.

Is Christian Unity Possible?
by Chip Brogden
Jesus prayed for a spiritual unity in Him first and foremost. From there anything is possible, even deep relationships and fellowship with others.
But that can only happen when your spiritual life is founded upon a deep, abiding belief in three core principles. There can be no compromise with these three basic truths...

Re: Chip Brogden CHURCH WITHOUT WALLS
Hey Elaine,
Last week's webinar was really good and well-attended!
Once you see how all the pieces fit together it really helps to understand What, Why and WHO you believe!
Here's the link to this week's session (very important):
ELEMENTS OF A CHRIST CENTERED FAITH (Part 4)
http://www.ChipBrogden.com/live
As you know I've experimented with different ways / days / times to present this material and listened to everyone's feedback.
Here's what we will do going forward...
1. We'll go back to ONE live teaching each week. I just can't handle more than one!
2. If you cannot make the live teaching, register anyway so you can get a REPLAY link to watch it over the weekend (it's good for 48 hours).
3. If you miss the live webinar AND the replay, we'll make the audio recordings available in the Catalog after the series is complete.
So, the live teaching is really good for people who want to join together with other believers, pray as one Body in Christ, follow along in a live environment, and interact with me more personally. You won't get that in a recording or replay.
Here's the link again:

It's free to register; donations are welcome.
Hope to "see" you soon as God allows!

Chip Brogden
Who Then Can Be Saved?
by Chip Brogden
Paul’s confession and the belief did not lead to this encounter with Jesus; it was the encounter with Jesus that led to his confession and belief!
How quickly we forget – if we ever really understand it at all – that “you have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you” (Jn 15:16a). We have been taught to say we are saved by grace (once again, employing the correct phraseology) but we secretly believe we had something to do with it: it was our prayer, our faith, our confession, our belief, our walking the aisle, our joining the church, our decision that saved us. Heaven is our reward for making the right decision, unlike so many poor ignorant sinners who made the wrong decision!
But Jesus says, “No man can come to me unless the Father draws him” (Jn 6:44) and Paul declares that “No man can say ‘Jesus is Lord’ but by the Holy Spirit” (I Cor. 12:3b). Paul could confess Jesus as Lord and believe Jesus was risen from the dead because he did, in fact, meet the Lord Jesus as a Living Person; and that was the result of Jesus coming to Paul, not Paul coming to Jesus...

Hey Elaine,
Whenever I share about God's Ultimate Purpose and Plan in Christ, a common question I get back is:
