Re: Chip Brogden CHURCH WITHOUT WALLS
What is a Christ-Centered Faith?
WATCH
Hello Elaine!
2 Timothy 2:2 says, “Teach these things to faithful people who can teach others.”
The fact that Paul was concerned for the handing down of a Christ-centered faith is very significant. If Christ-centered teaching is not preserved and handed down to the next generation, it will be lost in the milieu of liberalism, atheism, Churchianity, and false religions. It is very nearly lost already.

Re: Chip Brogden CHURCH WITHOUT WALLS
Hi Elaine,
The Kingdom of God is hardly taught today.
Worse, when people DO teach about it, they often think of it in terms of "going to heaven."
Actually, the Kingdom has nothing to do with "going to heaven."
The Kingdom is about bringing Heaven to Earth, not the other way around.
Jesus used parables to describe this Kingdom.
Even though there isn't a lot of TEACHING in the Gospel of Mark; it mostly focuses on the WORKS of Jesus, not His WORDS.
So when Mark does give us some parables, they stand out as ones he wants us to pay particular attention to.
We need a KINGDOM OF GOD refresher course, I think.
Back to basics, right?

Re: Chip Brogden CHURCH WITHOUT WALLS
The Need for Brokenness
by Chip Brogden
The fundamental need of a disciple of Jesus Christ is not more power, but more brokenness.
If there is a seeming difference in the "level" of anointing or power or spirituality among believers it is definitely not because some have more of the Lord than others. Let this be an encouragement to you. Indeed, Christ is not divided, and of His fullness we all share. We are all baptized into the same Spirit. The difference is some saints are more broken than others. Some have passed through many seasons of tearing down and building up, while some after many years of experience are still resisting the Lord and refusing to lay down their lives. Some have recognized God's dealings and have submitted to them, while others have misunderstood or been totally ignorant of God's dealings with them.
The ones who have been sufficiently broken eventually manifest very little of their self, and very much of Christ. God must work long and hard with us to bring us to this place, but what a glorious day it is when we are able to bow our heads and finally surrender everything. What joy it is to look back over all that the Lord has led us through and realize His purpose in both the good times and the bad times, to behold the goodness and the severity of God in His dealings with us...

Re: Chip Brogden CHURCH WITHOUT WALLS
Hi Elaine,
Evangelicals are fond of saying, "His last command is our first priority."
(They are referring to the "go into all the world and preach the Gospel" command.)
But I say, "First things first!"
What do I mean?
Simply this...
Before Jesus sent anyone out to preach or teach or do anything, He firs called them TO BE WITH HIM.
That's what we see in Mark 3.
He called twelve TO BE WITH HIM, that they might go forth and preach.
The problem (I think you will agree) is all these people "going forth" and trying to say something on behalf of Jesus but they have never BEEN WITH HIM long enough to have anything worth listening to.
We all need to learn to BE WITH HIM before we go forth to proclaim Him (or explain Him) to others.
That's just one of the things we'll focus on in this week's Bible study:

Re: Chip Brogden CHURCH WITHOUT WALLS
Hi Elaine,
Physical healing is important, but what good is a healthy body if you are spiritually sick?
Too many people settle for a halfway-cure, a little religious band-aid, instead of WHOLENESS.
Jesus, the Great Physician, lays out a path for spiritual healing - if we will follow Him all the way to the end.
Tonight we're going to see that step-by-step, and I think it will encourage you!
But you have to listen all the way to the end to really "see" it.

Re: Chip Brogden CHURCH WITHOUT WALLS
Hi Elaine,
The problem with religious folks is they don't stop attacking.
You can't bind them or command them to go.
The devil will at least shut up when you quote Scripture to him, but religious folks are FUELED by quoting Scripture!
Jesus had authority over devils and diseases, true.
But even He couldn't just "cast out" the spirit of religion.
And He couldn't just lay hands on a religious person and heal them of their hypocrisy and spiritual blindness.
Defeating devils and diseases is easy compared to defeating deception of a religious sort.
But we can learn a few things by watching how Jesus interacts with those Pharisees.
I hope you will join me for this week's study to learn more...

Re: Chip Brogden CHURCH WITHOUT WALLS
Hi Elaine,
As He was just beginning His public ministry, Jesus was tempted by the devil in the wilderness.
One of the temptations was to go to highest part of the Temple and jump off.
Sounds weird, doesn't it?
What was behind that particular temptation?
The idea was to get Jesus to go to Jerusalem (the center of the Jewish religion) and do some miraculous sign to prove to all the religious folks that He was the Messiah.
(Trying to prove yourself to others is a common mistake.)
As it turns out, Jesus had nothing to prove to anyone.
Instead of heading straight for Jerusalem to launch His ministry (as one might expect), He traveled north to a little fishing village on the Sea of Galilee called Capernaum.
In that small town, way outside of Jerusalem, He found Peter, Andrew, James, and John.
Much of His ministry took place in and around that isolated area out in the country - far away from Jerusalem.
See, Jesus didn't come to satisfy the religious folks - but to seek, save, and serve the lost sheep.
It seems today that a lot of people gravitate towards "like-minded believers" instead of trusting God to lead them in a different direction than they are accustomed.
Go wherever God leads you - just don't assume He's always leading you to go to where everyone else is going.
And stop trying to prove yourself to doubters and naysayers.
Just something to think about.
Another lesson from the life of Jesus, our Example.
Much more to discuss in this week's teaching:

The Hidden Wisdom
by Chip Brogden
So many sincere believers are frustrated, angry, upset, confused, or depressed in their walk with the Lord. They do not understand what God is doing in their lives. And no one seems to be able to help them.
Paul explains it as “the hidden wisdom.” What is wisdom? By itself, wisdom is the ability to see everything from God’s perspective, for “the Lord sees not as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart” (I Samuel 16:7b). We cannot understand from our viewpoint. We must leave our earthly, natural, human ground and come up with Christ into the heavenlies so we may see as He sees (cf. Ephesians 2:6).
So what does it mean when Paul says this wisdom is hidden? It means this wisdom is not obvious. It is not readily seen. It is camouflaged in such a way that you can be looking right at it and not know it. That is why everyone looks and listens but so few people “get it”. We CAN see it, and we CAN know it, but we must seek it out, because it hides from us...

Hi Elaine,
As I prepare my heart for tonight's teaching I'm really convicted about the example of SERVICE Jesus demonstrates in the Gospel of Mark.
You feel His humanity, you experience His divinity, but you are mostly impressed with His tireless service to God and to others.
It's something we're missing today, I'm afraid.
We can often feel tired, put out, turned off, cynical, or jaded when it comes to "service."
And in this age, since people are mostly "lovers of their own selves," getting them to serve is difficult.
But we see Jesus keeps working, teaching, healing, saving, blessing, delivering.

The Work God Blesses
by Chip Brogden
Let us learn to do nothing apart from this amazing grace. It is better to wait five hundred years for grace than to work for five minutes without it.
I spent many years creating and executing my own plans, asking the Lord to bless them. One day I understood that instead of always trying to get the Lord to bless what I wanted to do, it was much simpler to find out what the Lord wanted to bless, and simply do THAT. Instead of trying to get God to come down to my level and do what I wanted, it was far better to come onto the Lord’s ground and do what He wanted.
Great synergy and blessing is released when we simply cooperate with what God has already purposed to do. Heaven backs us up with tremendous power and authority. Instead of trying to make something happen, I simply flow in a current that already exists. The Lord will deny no request that is in agreement with what He Himself has originated...

Hey Elaine,
People ask where I get the things I talk about concerning the Harlot Church.
True, a lot of it comes from the Book of Revelation.
But most of my insight comes from Jesus Himself.
The parables reveal secrets hidden from the beginning of time.
And those parables clearly reveal the Harlot Church and its judgment.
Those parables are prophecies.

Hey Elaine,
A lot of people think the parables of Jesus are nice little stories.
In fact, the parables of Jesus are prophetic utterances that not only convey spiritual truth, but foretell future events.
Most of them contain WARNING as well as teaching.
Yes, some have already been fulfilled, while others are still to come.
Can you discern the difference?
Thursday night we conclude our teaching series on "All the Parables of Jesus" by examining the past and future fulfillment of these prophetic parables.

He Could Not Be Hidden
by Chip Brogden
I tell you, this idea of Christ increasing is the most powerful reality in this universe! Nothing can stand before it, nothing can resist it, nothing can stop it.
When we look at the earthly ministry of Jesus we see that He did not seek to increase Himself. He actually humbled Himself and tried to be inconspicuous. Even so, when He tried to hide Himself, He could not be hidden. I want you to think about that. When God was ready to reveal Him then He could not be hidden. He could not even hide Himself...

Re: Chip Brogden CHURCH WITHOUT WALLS
Hey Elaine,
This week we resume our online Bible study of all the parables of Jesus.
We're looking at a phenomenon I call "the Great Reversal" which is especially illustrated in the parables of the "first and last."
They show how differently God sees things compared to how man sees them.
The essence of wisdom is to begin seeing things from God's perspective, and these parables are an excellent starting point.
Need some wisdom?
Hope you can join us online...

Re: Chip Brogden CHURCH WITHOUT WALLS
Resurrected With Christ
by Chip Brogden
Scripture bears witness to a most amazing spiritual truth: that disciples of Jesus are the crucified, dead, buried, resurrected, ascended, and seated Branches of a crucified, dead, buried, resurrected, ascended, and seated Vine.
We do not bury someone unless we are absolutely sure that they are dead. Ordinarily that would be the end of the story: a life, a death, and a burial. But we have been joined to One Who has overcome death. This is the whole purpose of the Cross. If we remain in union with Him through crucifixion, death and burial, then we will certainly remain in union with Him through all that follows after...

Re: Chip Brogden CHURCH WITHOUT WALLS
Hi Elaine,
Would you ever plant a seed and not care whether it grew?
Would you ever invest money in something and not care if you got your money back?
Most people would not.
Neither would God.
Fruitfulness is normal; unfruitfulness shows something is seriously wrong.
Another way of saying it is:
If you are faithful, you will be fruitful.
We discussed faithfulness last week.
Well, fruitfulness is the harvest, the end result, the ultimate outcome, of faithfulness.
Jesus used the theme of fruitfulness quite a bit in His parables.
It's such a great principle because it shows the Divine Partnership.
What is that?
It means that you plant the seed, water it, and take care of it.
But God makes it grow.
You can't make it grow yourself.
And God won't plant the seed for you.
It takes God and you working together!
So fruitfulness shows:
1) Your faithfulness and fervency; and
2) God's faithfulness and favor.
Isn't that awesome?
That's true wisdom right there!
Just one of the things we'll talk about in this week's online Bible class:

Re: Chip Brogden CHURCH WITHOUT WALLS
Hey Elaine,
A lot of people think they have God all figured out!
They even have a name for it: "theology" - the study of God.
As if God is a laboratory experiment to be dissected and scrutinized under a microscope - or studied at a distance with a telescope.
How absurd!
Anyway, they thought they had Jesus all figured out, too.
But Jesus delighted to challenge and expose them.
It's easy to do, because the religious are easily, perpetually, offended by spiritual truth.
They think they have it all figured out - even to the point of telling Jesus what He can or cannot do.
And that hasn't changed.
A fun way to mess with their mind is to turn their wisdom upside down.
Jesus is a master at this, and his parables illustrate what I call "The Great Reversal."
Basically, it talks about how one day...
- the proud will be humbled and the humbled will be exalted;
- the rich will be made poor and the poor will be made rich;
- the religious will be excluded and the sinners will be included;
- the first will be last and the last will be first;
Etc.
You get the idea.
Funny thing is?
You would think after 2,000 years these lessons would have been learned by now.
But that haven't.
So we'll look at a few of these Great Reversals in this week's online Bible study:

Fear No Man
by Chip Brogden
To overcome the fear of man
we must be wholly GOD’S
And no one else’s.
Many Christians are in bondage to the fear of man. In discussing this very real and widespread problem, let us acknowledge from the beginning that we cannot be God’s spokesperson and be afraid of people. We will find it difficult, if not impossible to faithfully give all the counsel of God when there is a spirit within us that withdraws from people out of fear, timidity, or anxiety.
If there has ever been a time in your life when you bowed down and said, “Lord use me, speak through me, have Your Will through me,” then you can expect that the Lord will immediately begin to deal with you regarding the fear of man. It is a fundamental lesson we must learn in order to be fruitful and faithful with all God commits to us...

Re: Chip Brogden CHURCH WITHOUT WALLS
Hi Elaine,
We figure after we preach, pray and invite people to church, we've done all we can do and the rest is up to them.
But God is Love - and Love never fails.
The things that are impossible with men are possible with God.
That's why God put Jesus in charge of His "Search & Rescue" team.
Jesus is not sitting around, waiting to see if anyone will "receive" Him.
But He is actively pursuing the Lost - seeking them, saving them, and bringing them back to the Father's House.
That's part of what we will discuss in tonight's online Bible study:
