The state of Texas is suing Planned Parenthood, and the organization argued that it may go out of business if the lawsuit is successful.

"This baseless case is an active effort to shut down Planned Parenthood health centers," said Alexis McGill Johnson, the president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America.

The lawsuit alleges that Planned Parenthood wrongfully accepted payment from Medicaid during a time when the state was suing to end those funds.

Texas first notified the abortion provider that it would end Medicaid payments in December 2016. The organization sued and got a federal court to agree with it, which allowed it to continue Medicaid. In 2020, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit reversed that ruling, and it was upheld in 2021.

The lawsuit says that Planned Parenthood filed a legal appeal rather than a legislative appeal and argues that all payments accepted by the organization after Feb. 1, 2017, were fraudulent.

Texas is seeking $17 million in reimbursed funds.

Abortion advocates are also angry that the case will be adjudicated by federal Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk, who ruled against the Biden administration in April and issued a stay against the sale of the abortion drug mifepristone.

"Who should be in charge of whether you can access needed health care: an extremist MAGA judge, or your doctors and the FDA?" tweeted activist Laura Packard at the time.

The organization could also face a fine for each of the allegedly fraudulent payments under the federal False Claims Act , and Planned Parenthood says that could add up to more than a billion dollars. Defenders of the abortion provider are claiming on social media that the lawsuit could cost up to $1.8 billion.

A transgender individual accused of molesting young autistic children was found dead in jail, according to police in Indiana.

Leomeir Kennedy was found unconscious in a jail cell at around 9:32 a.m. on Friday, according to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department. CPR was performed on Kennedy, but medics pronounced Kennedy dead at the Johnson County Jail.

A Kentucky high school teacher has been arrested after he was accused of sending pornographic images to a 9-year-old boy and requesting a nude photo of the child in return.

Kevin Lentz, 49, has spent nearly two decades teaching English at Henry Clay High School in Lexington, Kentucky, joining the faculty there in 2005. He also volunteered at a youth program at Faith Lutheran Church in Lexington.

Though attendance seems to be down slightly this year compared to the five-year average, Sturgis, a town of about 7,000 residents, is still bustling with more than 250,000 vehicles counted between last Friday, when the event opened, and Tuesday. The event lasts until this Sunday.

The popular rally draws many high-profile corporate sponsors, including Budweiser. This year, Budweiser made a big show of its enthusiasm for the rally and its attendees. Not only are banners emblazoned with the Budweiser logo spotted throughout Sturgis, but the iconic Budweiser Clydesdale horses helped kick off the rally by headlining the opening ceremonies last Friday.

Despite all those efforts, rally attendees have slaked their thirst elsewhere as the Budweiser tents and booths stand nearly empty in two TikTok videos making their rounds on social media. The videos show a fairly impressive set-up that might be expected for a brand like Budweiser and an official sponsor of the event, offering shade, refreshing beverages, and some official Budweiser merch. But almost no patrons appear to care.

Some on social media are blaming the seemingly poor turnout on lingering frustration with the brand after Bud Light's infamous association with transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney. The beer company has never apologized for the blunder and has since lost nearly $30 billion in market value.

"Right now, maybe because of the bad PR, the controversy, people [are] staying away," opines the man behind TikTok account Cycledrag, which has been posting throughout the rally and has over 350,000 followers. It is unclear when the video was recorded, but it was first posted on Tuesday.

At the end of the one-minute video, Cycledrag offers a glimmer of hope for the beer brand, predicting that Budweiser drinkers will return, joking that "political views may be no match for alcoholism in the end."

So far, that prediction has not yet come to pass. In a follow-up video taken at "mid week" and posted on Wednesday, the Budweiser area remains so quiet that even Cycledrag struggles to put a positive spin on the situation.

"Oh my goodness. Wow," Cycledrag says as he pans the camera across the desolate Budweiser displays. Proud Budweiser representatives donning patriotic T-shirts try to smile, but even they seem frustrated and perhaps a little embarrassed by the lack of interest from rally participants.

"Sturgis is absolutely jam-packed," Cycledrag notes. "The Harley[-Davidson] tent is packed, the BMW tent is packed, but Budweiser [is] having a tough go."

"There must be a whole lot of beer left over in there," he adds. "I don't know what to say."

In reporting on Cycledrag's videos of the Budweiser area, Samantha Chang of the Western Journal suggested that the "response in Sturgis sends an unequivocal message to Bud Light and other 'woke' corporations that using their products to push left-wing propaganda is unacceptable to a large segment of consumers."

Budweiser did not immediately respond to a request for comment from TheBlaze.

Officials from the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association reportedly told parents and student athletes that a boy will be allowed to play against them in the upcoming school year, despite complaints regarding injuries and sharing locker rooms.

“They're just not used to the ball coming at them that hard,” said Ryan Gusick, one of the parents who said girls were quitting due to concerns of injury and safety.

Ben Krumholtz from WLUK in Green Bay said that "in summer practices and games, the parents say girls are leaving with welts and bruises they've never received before."

“A lot of these girls are specifically quitting this team because they're concerned for their safety,” Gusick added, while a concerned mother said that the male student has "the most power" out of any one playing.

The specific school and sport were not reported due to privacy concerns.

As for concerns over locker rooms and the young girls having to change with the boy, the district is sticking with its policy.

In a statement to Fox 11, the district said it "works with the transgender students to determine what they would prefer. However, they have a legal right to use the locker room. If they choose to use the locker room they gender identify with, students who may have concerns the District will work with to provide supports.”

Several parents said their daughters won't be trying out due to their concerns. At the same time, two female community members, who did not say if they have children, spoke out in support of the boy who identifies as a girl: “We just wanted it to be out there that there are other students and athletes that are in support of her,” said Kathy Heath.

Local father Gusick added that the girls are "kind of fed up hearing that your safety is our top concern from all these people and they're really doing nothing about it."

Former Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund told Tucker Carlson in a controversial interview that "everything appears to be a cover-up" as it pertains to the Jan. 6, 2021, protests at the U.S. Capitol.

Although Fox News kept that interview under wraps, the National Pulse has begun releasing segments wherein Sund provides critical insights into an event that has been used to great effect by Democrats and other forces antipathetic to former President Donald Trump.
When speaking to Russell Brand in early July, Carlson said he had initially taken an interest in the Jan. 6 protests due to all the "lying about it."

"So, the more time has passed … it becomes really obvious that core claims they made about January 6 were lies," said Carlson. "The amount of lying around January 6, and it was obvious in the tapes that I showed, is really distressing."

Prior to his ouster at Fox, Carlson had aired previously unreleased footage of the protests that appeared to contradict the narrative that had been carefully constructed by the media and the Jan. 6 committee.

When speaking to Brand, Carlson referenced an eye-opening interview he had conducted with Sund while still at Fox News, saying, "I never thought it was a false flag or anything like that. I'm not a conspiracist by temperament. I never thought that. ... And then I interviewed the chief of the Capitol Police, Steven Sund, in an interview that was never aired on Fox, by the way — I was fired before it could air."

Sund, a police officer for over 30 years, had been head of the U.S. Capitol Police from 2019 through the protests, but resigned Jan. 7 amid claims by then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and others that "there was a failure of leadership at the top."

In February 2021, Sund penned a letter to Pelosi and other congressional leaders, noting, "Perfect hindsight does not change the fact that nothing in our collective experience or our intelligence – including intelligence provided by FBI, Secret Service, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and D.C. Metropolitan Police (MPD) – indicated that a well-coordinated, armed assault on the Capitol might occur on Jan. 6."

Sund further noted that during a meeting with "a dozen of the top law enforcement and military officials from D.C., including the FBI, U.S. Secret Service and the National Guard," no entity "provided any intelligence indicating that there would be a coordinated attack on the United States Capitol."

"The entire intelligence community seems to have missed this," he wrote.

Sund also intimated that the Capitol Police had been set up to fail.

Sund told WTTG-TV that he had asked House and Senate security officials for their permission to bring in the National Guard days ahead of the protests, but was denied. He also indicated he had asked for the National Guard several more times during the protests, but was repeatedly denied until their ultimate arrival at 5:40 p.m. on Jan. 6.

Around 19 minutes into the "Tucker Carlson Tonight" interview, which is being released by the National Pulse piecemeal, Sund says, "If people were reporting the intelligence correctly, if I was allowed to do my job as the chief ... we wouldn't be here. This didn't have to happen," stressing, "I'm a little pissed off."

"Everything appears to be a cover-up," continued Sund. "Like I said, I’m not a conspiracy theorist, but when you look at the information and intelligence they had, the military had, it’s all watered down. ... I’m not getting intelligence, I’m denied any support from National Guard in advance. I’m denied National Guard while we’re under attack for 71 minutes."

"You describe this as a failure to get intelligence to people who needed it, but it sounds like ... they were hiding the intelligence," said Carlson.

"That's what I'm getting at," said Sund. "Could there possibly be actually … they kind of wanted something to happen? It’s not a far stretch to begin to think that. You know, it's sad when you start putting everything together and thinking about the way this played out. ... What was their end goal? You look at what's happening. Was that their end goal?"

Carlson responded, "There's no question that what happened on January 6 has really helped the Democratic Party. It's gravely politicized the U.S. military and the intelligence agencies and the FBI. And those are all, I think, bad for America and violations of the Constitution, but they're all good for the Democratic Party. That's the facts."
Sund agreed, adding that in the wake of Jan. 6, the establishment has seen fit to strip the blindfold of neutrality from Lady Justice.
Raheem Kassam, editor in chief of the National Pulse, noted on Twitter that the Sund interview is "absolutely extraordinary" and emphasized that "none of us are suicidal, for the record."
The next interview excerpt will reportedly broach the subject of Ray Epps and his involvement in the Jan. 6 protests.
Carlson previously indicated Sund had told him, "'That crowd was filled with federal agents.'"

The Biden administration announced on Friday the latest weapons package to Ukraine – said to be worth $800 million and would include cluster munitions. However, Biden and his administration have previously been overwhelmingly against cluster bombs, including declaring last year that the use of the controversial munitions would be a war crime.

One person was killed and three more were injured Saturday when a man riding a scooter randomly fired at pedestrians in Queens and Brooklyn, New York City Police Department authorities said in a press conference.

During the hour-plus long interview with Russell Brand, Carlson talked about leaving Fox News, loving former President Donald Trump, greatly admiring Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kamala Harris, whose net approval rating was recently found to be the worst for a vice president in NBC News polling history, has elicited a new wave of criticism and mockery with her latest so-called "word salad."

The vice president joined Sunny Hostin, co-host of ABC's "The View," and pro-abortion activist Monica Simpson on Friday to discuss race-specific "reproductive health" at the 2023 Essence Festival of Culture in New Orleans.

Harris appeared keen to first define the term, stating, "Well, I think culture is — it is a reflection of our moment in our time, right? And — and present culture is the way we express how we’re feeling about the moment."

"And — and we should always find times to express how we feel about the moment that is a reflection of joy, because every — you know, it comes in the morning," continued Harris. "We have to find ways to also express the way we feel about the moment in terms of just having language and a connection to how people are experiencing life. And I think about it in that way, too."

Merriam-Webster defines "culture" thusly: "The customary beliefs, social forms, and material traits of a racial, religious, or social group"; or "the integrated pattern of human knowledge, belief, and behavior that depends upon the capacity for learning and transmitting knowledge to succeeding generations."

Harris appeared to have confused the hosts and her audience with her unique definition. Nevertheless, she persisted.

"And we also — I think, is very important that — that leaders — anyone who considers themselves a leader — really understands how anything they say would affect a real human being, as opposed to — you know, otherwise be a poet and write poetry," she added. "But if you want to understand — I don’t mean to dismiss poetry at all. But if you want to understand any concept, you have to ask questions like, 'How would this affect a child?' to have a real understanding of what it is that you’ve proposed."

Harris attempted to elaborate further, but Hostin noted, "We're really almost at the end of our program."

The official Twitter account for the Virginia GOP reacted to Harris' answer, writing, "Kamala Harris is that kid in your freshman English class who forgot about the assignment until the night before it was due and is desperate to meet the word count."

Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-Mo.) suggested Harris' response called to mind a scene from "Billy Madison," wherein the principal disparages the titular character for a wrong answer.

They pulled the suspected gang members and beat them and then burned them to death.

“More than a dozen individuals riding on board this vehicle were unfortunately lynched by members of the population,” said a statement from the Haitian National Police.

A woman is accused of abandoning her 16-month-old child to die alone so that she could go on a vacation for 10 days, according to Ohio prosecutors.

31-year old Kristel Candelario allegedly left her daughter inside their Cleveland home on June 6 and did not return until June 16 at about 8 a.m.

Cuyahoga County prosecutor Michael O’Malley called the incident "truly horrifying."

O'Malley said Candelario went to Detroit, Michigan, and Puerto Rico on her vacation and when she returned to her home, she called police to report that her daughter was unresponsive. The child was pronounced dead at the scene.

She was later identified as Jailyn Candelario by the Cuyahoga County medical examiner.

She was found in an extremely dehydrated state, according to an affidavit, and her playpen was soiled with feces and urine. Neighbors said that it wasn't the first time the woman had left her daughter alone.

Candelario was indicted on charges of aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault, and endangering children.

She pleaded not guilty at her arraignment on Thursday at the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas and was held on a bond of $1 million.

“It is unfathomable that a mother would leave her 16-month-old child alone without any supervision for 10 days to go on a vacation,” said O’Malley.

“As parents, we are supposed to protect and care for our children," he added. "Imagining this child’s suffering, during her last days of life alone, is truly horrifying and we will do everything in our power to seek justice on her behalf.”

Candelario is scheduled to return to court on July 5.

Republican Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina lambasted the Obamas over their response to the decision by the Supreme Court to end affirmative action in higher education on Thursday.

Scott, who is running for president, was asked to respond to statements put out by former President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama decrying the decision and criticizing the court.
"I'm running for president because I know America can do for anyone what she has done for me. But sending the message that somehow the color of your skin means that you will not be able to achieve your goals from an educational perspective, from an income perspective or family formation, that is a lie from the pit of hell," said Scott to Fox News.

"We will not be judged solely by the color of our skin," he added. "That's what the ruling said today. But that is the story of America. That is a story of American progress and we can all celebrate that today."

Michelle Obama said her heart was broken for students who were wondering what opportunities might be open to them in the wake of the court decision.

“So often, we just accept that money, power, and privilege are perfectly justifiable forms of affirmative action, while kids growing up like I did are expected to compete when the ground is anything but level,” she wrote in a statement.

The former Democratic president also offered a brief statement about the ruling.

"Like any policy, affirmative action wasn't perfect," he wrote. "But it allowed generations of students like Michelle and me to prove we belonged. Now it's up to all of us to give young people the opportunities they deserve — and help students everywhere benefit from new perspectives."

The 6-3 Supreme Court decision has been criticized by many on the left while conservatives have praised the end of discrimination against Asian-Americans in higher education.
