Our generational struggle against a poisonous ideology
Writing in The Sunday Telegraph,
David Cameron warns of terrorist caliphate on the shores of the Mediterranean if Islamic State succeeds

The Prime Minister says the world cannot turn a blind eye to the creation of an extremist caliphate in the heart of Iraq

The West is embroiled in a generational struggle against a poisonous brand of Islamic extremism that will bring terror to the streets of Britain unless urgent action is taken to defeat it, David Cameron warns today.

Writing in The Sunday Telegraph, the Prime Minister says the world cannot turn a blind eye to the creation of an extremist caliphate in the heart of Iraq.
Warning that Islamic State fighters already control thousands of square miles of territory, Mr Cameron says that if these “warped and barbaric” extremists are not dealt with now, they will create a “terrorist state” on the shores of the Mediterranean.

He warns that Britain will have to use its “military prowess” to help defeat “this exceptionally dangerous” movement, or else terrorists with “murderous intent” will target people in Britain.

The Prime Minister says he fears the struggle will last “the rest of my political lifetime”.
“The creation of an extremist caliphate in the heart of Iraq and extending into Syria is not a problem miles away from home. Nor is it a problem that should be defined by a war 10 years ago. It is our concern here and now,” he says.

“Because if we do not act to stem the onslaught of this exceptionally dangerous terrorist movement, it will only grow stronger until it can target us on the streets of Britain. We already know that it has the murderous intent.”

In his article, Mr Cameron says Britain and the West need a firm security response to the crisis in Iraq and that fighters from Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isil) cannot simply be removed by air strikes alone.
An Isil fighter stands guard at a checkpoint in Mosul, Iraq (Reuters)

He says this must involve military action to go after the terrorists themselves, but also stresses that the Government must take uncompromising action against extremists in Britain trying to recruit fighters for jihad abroad. The Prime Minister discloses that the Government has already taken down 28,000 pieces of terrorist related material from the web, including 46 Isil videos.
He says he has also discussed the issue with Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe, the Metropolitan Police Commissioner, and pledges that anyone caught trying to recruit people in Britain – or anyone flying the black flag of Islamic State, as happened in east London earlier this month – will be arrested.

“The position is clear. If people are walking around with Isil flags or trying to recruit people to their terrorist cause they will be arrested and their materials will be seized,” he says.

“We are a tolerant people, but no tolerance should allow the room for this sort of poisonous extremism in our country.”

Last night, the Bishop of Leeds released a letter he had sent to Mr Cameron describing British policy on Islamic extremism as not “coherent or comprehensive”.

The Right Rev Nicholas Baines, who claimed to have the support of the Archbishop of Canterbury, said that he remained “very concerned about the government’s response to several issues” and poses questions to the Prime Minster about his policy towards Iraq and Syria. In the letter, published on his blog, the bishop writes of his “serious concern that we do not seem to have a coherent or comprehensive approach” towards groups such as the Islamic State, Boko Haram in Nigeria and other extremist groups.
A Lambeth Palace source told The Sunday Telegraph that while the Archbishop of Canterbury “supports the bishop posing these questions,” he also acknowledged the “major difficulties” faced by the Government in tackling extremism and called on people to pray for the government.
In his article, the Prime Minister lays bare his alarm at how the crisis in Iraq threatens European security, Mr Cameron says the first Isil-inspired terrorist acts on the continent of Europe have already taken place.

“We are in the middle of a generational struggle against a poisonous and extremist ideology which I believe we will be fighting for the rest of my political lifetime,” he says. “We face in Isil a new threat that is single-minded, determined and unflinching in pursuit of its objectives.

“Already it controls not just thousands of minds, but thousands of square miles of territory, sweeping aside much of the boundary between Iraq and Syria to carve out its so-called caliphate. It makes no secret of its expansionist aims.

“Even today it has the ancient city of Aleppo firmly within its sights. And it boasts of its designs on Jordan and Lebanon, and right up to the Turkish border. If it succeeded we would be facing a terrorist state on the shores of the Mediterranean and bordering a Nato member.”
Mr Cameron made his comments as the Ministry of Defence disclosed that Britain had deployed a spy plane as part of humanitarian efforts in Iraq. The MoD confirmed that the intelligence-gathering Rivet Joint aircraft had carried out several flights over areas in the north of country which have been targeted by advancing Islamist extremists.
It emerged last week that Britain was considering joining France and several eastern European countries and arming Kurdish forces in Iraq to help them fight Islamic State militants. In his article, Mr Cameron discloses that he is considering sending body armour and specialist counter-explosive equipment to the Kurds.
Britain will also appoint a British representative to the region who will be based in the country and be able to have daily face-to-face contact with the people there, the Prime Minister says.
He adds that Britain will also use next month’s Nato summit in Wales and press for more action in the United Nations to “help rally support across the international community” for the Kurdish people, who have been fighting the Islamic State extremists in northern Iraq. The move to supply arms directly will inevitably be seen as a further risk that Britain will be drawn more into the conflict.
But Mr Cameron rules out deploying troops to Iraq, making clear that the crisis is not “a problem that should be defined by a war 10 years ago”. However, while he says this is not the “War on Terror” or a religious war, it is a struggle for “decency” and ‘tolerance” and Britain’s future prosperity.
“I agree that we should avoid sending armies to fight or occupy, but we need to recognise that the brighter future we long for requires a long term plan for our security as well as one for our economy,” he says.

“True security will only be achieved if we use all our resources – aid, diplomacy, our military prowess – in helping to achieve a more stable world. In today’s world, so immediately interconnected as it is, we cannot turn a blind eye and assume that there will not be a cost for us if we do.”

Mr Cameron adds: “This is a clear danger to Europe and to our security. It is a daunting challenge.

“But it is not an invincible one, as long as we are now ready and able to summon up the political will to defend our own values and way of life with the same determination, courage and tenacity as we have faced danger before in our history. That is how much is at stake here: we have no choice but to rise to the challenge.”

Mr Cameron also discloses that Britain is looking at leading talks with Iran to control the destabilising threat of Islamic State fighters in the region. He says Britain has to “work with countries like Saudi Arabia and Qatar, the UAE, Egypt and Turkey and perhaps even with Iran” against this “shared threat”. “I want Britain to play a leading role in this diplomatic effort,” he says.

Yazidi refugees fill bottles at the Newroz camp in the Hasaka province, Syria (AFP)

The crisis in Iraq was highlighted by reports on Saturday that up to 80 Yazidis were killed by Islamic State fighters in the biggest massacre of the Iraqi minority in the jihadists’ brutal campaign.

Kurdish and Yazidi sources reported that dozens of people in the village of Kocho, located about 15 miles from Sinjar city, had been summarily executed by jihadists after they refused to “convert to Islam”.
Hoshyar Zebari, a senior Iraqi official who said he had spoken to witnesses from the scene, said that the jihadists had “committed a massacre”.

In his article, Mr Cameron admits that he is sympathetic with people who are wary about Britain becoming more involved in the country.

He says: “After a deep and damaging recession, and our involvement in long and difficult conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, it is hardly surprising that so many people say to me when seeing the tragedies unfolding on their television screens, ‘Yes, let’s help with aid, but let’s not get any more involved.’

“I agree that we should avoid sending armies to fight or occupy. But we need to recognise that the brighter future we long for requires a long-term plan for our security as well as for our economy. True security will only be achieved if we use all our resources – aid, diplomacy, our military prowess – to help bring about a more stable world.
“Today, when every nation is so immediately interconnected, we cannot turn a blind eye and assume that there will not be a cost for us if we do.”
A fresh consignment of British aid was flown to Iraqis fleeing the advance of the extremists amid reports of another massacre of religious minorities late last week.
The US said its drones had destroyed two armoured vehicles reported by Kurdish leaders as being used by Islamic State forces to attack civilians near Sinjar.
Last week, the United Nations Security Council unanimously approved a resolution designed to choke off the terrorists’ funding and recruitment. It also imposed sanctions including a travel ban and an asset freeze on six prominent extremists and warned that action could be taken against anyone held responsible for aiding the cause.

Sir Mark Lyall Grant, Britain’s UN ambassador, said the resolution represented a “comprehensive rejection” of Islamic State.
But he said it was only a first step and urged the international community to be “resolved, active and creative in considering what further measures should be taken to tackle this terrorist scourge”.

Nadhim Zahawi, a Conservative MP who was visiting northern Iraq late last week, said that Islamic State fighters had been caught carrying a season ticket for Liverpool Football Club and a gym card from Ealing.
He said that local forces estimated that between “500 and 750 fighters have joined the Islamic caliphate from the United Kingdom”.

Rory Stewart MP, the Tory chairman of the defence select committee who was also in Iraq, said Islamic State was now a “significant threat”.
He added: “We have been complacent. This has been developing a long time. In some ways these people have been in Mosul for two and a half years and we worked up to it about two and a half months ago.
“We ignored them when they were developing in eastern Syria, we ignored them when they took Fallujah in January.

“This is a huge and growing problem and some of those people are very, very clear in every interview they give that they want to come back and do jihad elsewhere.”

"These boys were groomed [at the Al Manar Centre] ... so that they are satisfied that what they go to do is right ... once they're groomed, all it takes is someone to say come and I'll take you." — Source close to the Yemeni Community, Cardiff, U.K., as reported in The Telegraph.
All these preachers share one thing in common: they are favorites of the two leading government-subsidized Salafi charities in Britain.
The British government, on June 26, banned Sheikh Mohammad Al Arifi from entering the United Kingdom, after reports in the British media linked the Saudi preacher to the radicalization of British youth now fighting for ISIS in Syria.
Arifi's sermons at the Al Manar Centre in Cardiff in particular, have been linked to the radicalization of three young British Muslims: brothers Nasser and Aseel Muthana and their friend, Reyaad Khan.

This ban demonstrates the British government's growing acceptance that Islamist preachers actually do play an important role in driving Muslim youth toward terrorism.

In an interview with Channel 4 News, Mohammad Al Arifi denied the charges and voiced condemnation for those who incite Muslims to fight in Syria. His denial, however, was clearly at odds with his earlier declarations. In 2010, Arifi stated in a television broadcast that:
"There is no doubt that a person whom Allah enables to sacrifice his soul, and to fight for the sake of Allah, has been graced with a great honor.
...
"Devotion to Jihad for the sake of Allah, and the desire to shed blood, to smash skulls and to sever limbs for the sake of Allah and in defense of His religion, is, undoubtedly, an honor for the believer.
...
"The Koranic verses that deal with fighting the infidels and conquering their countries say that they should convert to Islam, pay the jizya poll tax, or be killed. If the Muslims had implemented this, we would not have reached the humiliation in which we find ourselves today."

In a statement to the media, the British Home Office said: "The UK Government makes no apologies for refusing people access to the UK if we believe they represent a threat to our society. Coming here is a privilege that we refuse to extend to those who seek to subvert our shared values."
Barak Albayaty, a trustee of the Al Manar Centre, has claimed that the Muthana brothers chose to fight with ISIS not because they were radicalized by speakers visiting the mosque, but "by the internet."
Mohammad Al Arifi was not, nevertheless, the only extremist preacher to give sermons at the Al Manar Centre. Now that the government appears to have accepted that Arifi's presence in Britain serves to radicalize young Muslims, will it also focus on other extreme preachers already in Britain?
Haitham Al Haddad, for instance, is an Islamist preacher who describes Jews as "apes and pigs" and "enemies of God," quotes the Protocols of the Elders of Zion and speaks of a "conflict" between Muslim and Jews. Haddad has spoken at the Al Manar Centre on at least four occasions, two of which took place in 2014. Haddad's written work has also been promoted on the Al Manar Centre's Facebook page. Ali Hammuda, an Islamist preacher at Al Manar, describes Haddad as the "beloved Sheikh Haitham."
Abu Usamah ad-Dhahabi, who has spoken at the Al Manar Centre, calls for the killing of apostates. He has said: "If I were to call homosexuals perverted, dirty, filthy dogs who should be murdered, that's my freedom of speech, isn't it?" Dhahabi, according to a report by the Centre for Social Cohesion, also "advocates holy war in an Islamic state; preaches hatred against non-Muslims; that apostasy and homosexuality are punishable by death; and that women are inferior to men."
In addition, Muhammad Mustafa Al Muqri, the former spiritual leader of Gama'a Al Islamiyya, the Egyptian affiliate of Al Qaeda, was also invited to speak at Al Manar. One Islamic discussion forum refers to Al Muqri as being, at one point, the Imam of the Centre.
Ahmed Muthana, the father of the Muthana brothers fighting for ISIS in Syria, told the Daily Telegraph that his sons were "brainwashed" after they began attending the Al Manar Centre. He claimed visiting clerics put ideas in the heads of his boys.
The Telegraph further reported that a source close to the Yemeni community in Cardiff said, "These boys were groomed (at Al Manar) – obviously not to the stage to go, but so that they are satisfied that what they go to do is right. It all comes from the same school of thought. ... The teaching [at Al Manar] helped the people recruiting. ... once they're groomed, all it takes is someone to say come and I'll take you."
The Muthana brothers were not radicalized by just one visit from Muhammad Al Arifi. Their decision to wage jihad in Syria was, according to The Telegraph, the result of regular seminars and talks by the extremist preachers listed here.
All these preachers share one thing in common: they are favorites of the two leading government-subsidized Salafi charities in Britain: the Al Muntada Al Islami Trust (also known as the West London Cultural Centre) and the Islamic Education and Research Academy (iERA), both of which are funded by the taxpayer through a "tax-back" scheme named Gift Aid, in which charities can claim the 20% basic rate tax back on every pound donated.
Mohammad Al Arifi has repeatedly spoken at Al Muntada's annual conference, "Month of Mercy;" Haitham Al Haddad was the former Imam of the Al Muntada mosque and still speaks at the charity's conferences, and Muhammad Al Muqri has taught weekly lessons at the Al Muntada Mosque.
The Al Muntada Trust claims to provide charitable aid across the world. It also runs two schools in the UK. Every year, the Al Muntada Trust runs a conference named "Month of Mercy," which features some of the most outspoken preachers of this kind from across Europe and the Middle East. Nigerian media has accused Al Muntada of direct links to Nigeria's Al-Qaeda affiliate, the terrorist organization Boko Haram.
Boko Haram recently made headlines after kidnapping 276 schoolgirls and murdering up to 300 people. Emmanuel Ogebe, a Nigerian human rights lawyer, told US Congress that "Boko Haram's funding has been traced to … [the] Al Muntada Trust." Moreover, according to the Jamestown Foundation, Al Muntada is "associated with the official Saudi state charitable and da'wa institutions, the Muslim World League (MWL), World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY), International Islamic Relief Organization (IIRO), and Al Haramain Islamic Foundation. All these groups are alleged by American and international investigators to be terror-financing bodies."
Meanwhile, the other Al Manar speaker, Abu Usamah ad-Dhahabi, is an Imam in Birmingham at the Green Lane Mosque, which jointly organizes courses with the iERA. The Al Manar Centre itself, in fact, frequently runs courses with the iERA, and has provided a platform for iERA staff on multiple occasions.
The iERA is an extreme Islamist "da'wah" [proselytization] group, which tours hate preachers around Britain. Three iERA speakers have been banned from entering Britain: Bilal Philips, described by the U.S. an "unindicted co-conspirator" in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing; Zakir Naik, banned from the UK for saying that "every Muslim should be a terrorist," and Hussein Yee, who openly preaches hatred against Jews, and claims that Jews in America were "happy" when the Twin Towers fell.
Both the Al Muntada Trust and the iERA have worked together in the past to organize a conference featuring extremist preachers, with the support of groups such as the World Association of Muslim Youth, a Saudi youth organization that US government agencies and officials claim has funded terrorism in places such as Bosnia and Israel, and which publishes and distributes anti-Shia and anti-Semitic publications.
Some of these conferences have also included British parliamentarians, such as Jeremy Corbyn MP. Stephen Timms MP, another example, is a former Treasury Minister who has spoken at Al Muntada fundraising events, alongside shadow Justice Minister Andrew Slaughter MP, Conservative Peer Lord Sheikh, and former deputy mayor of London, Richard Barnes.
That these Salafi groups are providing the preachers at institutions where young British Muslims are radicalized should not be ignored. Although most of these extremist preachers are residents of Britain and therefore cannot be banned from the country, there are other steps the British government could take, such as -- with Al Manar Centre, Al Muntada and the iERA -- granting greater statutory powers that would allow the Charity Commission to strip the organizations of their charitable status.
The failure of the British government to take proactive steps to counter these Islamist ambitions, especially when they are couched as charitable endeavors, looks set to produce many more Muthana brothers -- some who will die on the battlefields in Syria and Iraq, and others who will return to Britain to wreak havoc there.

Hundreds attend day-long rally to oppose assisted suicide
On Friday (18th July), hundreds of people gathered outside Parliament on the hottest day of the year to oppose Lord Falconer's Assisted Dying Bill at a rally led by disability campaign group 'Not Dead Yet UK', and supported by Christian Concern.

A diverse crowd, including the very young, the elderly and many disabled people withstood temperatures of 32 degrees to make their voices heard in Parliament Square. Framed by a vibrant display of balloons, many carried placards calling for a culture of "Care Not Killing"and  “Assisted living NOT Assisted Dying."

Among the speakers were Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson and Lord Alton of Liverpool who described the Bill as a "runnaway train" and called for good palliative care, hospice services and love and compassion for the sick, vulnerable and disabled.
Reflecting on the day, Christian Concern CEO Andrea Williams said:

"The hope and vitality presented by those opposing the Bill was in stark contrast to the pro-euthanasia lobby, which was sadly marked by despair, promoting death not life, and whose already small numbers reduced dramatically as the day went on.

"It was an extraordinary day; one that could not have been predicted. Just three weeks before, the majority of the public, media and – seemingly at least – above 75% of parliamentarians in the House of Lords, were supporting, in various degrees, an assisted suicide Bill.

"On the Friday, because of a hugely successful campaign, from our side, against a change in the law, we began to turn around the tide; throwing doubt on a change in the law and the debate in Parliament suggested this.

"In Parliament, nine and a half hours of debate saw the many arguments against assisted suicide put eloquently and passionately showing up the thin, flawed and dangerous arguments made for assisted suicide.

"As leaflets were handed to passers- by outside the House of Lords we saw many changing their minds as they better understood the real issues at play made all the more poignant by the personal testimonies of those at the rally.

"Furthermore, we witnessed a shift in the media, which had previously been dominated by hard cases and by those calling for a right to be helped to die at a time of their choosing. Disabled and terminally ill people had been absent from the debate, but on Friday not a single newspaper came out in favour of the Bill. The disabled and terminally ill had been heard.

"At Christian Concern, we thank God for the privilege of standing with the disabled, terminally ill and vulnerable, and we will continue work tirelessly to do all that we can to defeat this Bill of despair, which promotes death not life. Good law is there to safeguard the weakest and most vulnerable in society, and to offer care not killing".

Parliamentary debate exposes "deep flaws" in Assisted Dying Bill

Peers expressed strong concern over the dangers and deep flaws in Lord Falconer's Assisted Dying Bill during a debate in the House of Lords on Friday (18th July).

In a powerful address, Baroness Campbell of Surbiton, who uses a wheelchair and has spinal muscular atrophy, said: "The Bill purports to offer choice - the option of premature death instead of pain, suffering and disempowerment - but it is a false choice.

"That is not choice. Pain, suffering and disempowerment are treatable - I have to believe that - and they should always be treated. My long experience of progressive deterioration has taught me that there is no situation that cannot be improved."

Disabled Peer Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson said there was a “myth that our lives are so tragic or painful that we must want to end them.” She added: “Just this week I was told, ‘You must have wanted to kill yourself many times in your life’. No, I have not.”

Crossbench Peer Lord Hylton echoed widespread concerns that the safeguards proposed in the Bill were "inadequate" - a view which he said was supported by "many eminently qualified doctors and other physicians."

He added: "I think it’s a bad and dangerous Bill and have always felt that. I have received letters from all over the country against the Bill and the evidence from countries where therapeutic killing is legal is far from reassuring."

Outcome

At the end of the debate, which lasted almost ten hours, Members of the House of Lords decided, without a vote, that the Bill should be sent to Committee stage for further scrutiny.

The outcome follows a recent Supreme Court ruling in the cases of Tony Nicklinson and Paul Lamb which suggested that Parliament reconsider the law surrounding assisted suicide.

Peers on both sides of the debate took the view that the ruling requires the Assisted Dying Bill to be thoroughly considered by Parliament. For this reason, Peers who opposed the Bill in principle decided not to vote it down on Friday, therefore enabling the proposals to be examined further at Committee stage.  The Bill is not expected to reach this stage until November.

It is unlikely that the Bill will ever become law in light of both the strength of opposition to the proposals and the limited Parliamentary time available before the next General Election.

Responding to the outcome, Andrea Williams of Christian Concern said: “We urge the Lords to ensure that proper scrutiny does now take place. The underlying principles and inevitable consequences of this Bill need to be teased out. When the arguments against are carefully examined, support for Assisted Suicide plummets. We look forward to the Committee Stage exposing the many flaws in this Bill."

“Killing another human being is an act of violence against God”
http://www.christianconcern.com/sites/default/files/Exo_20_13.pdf

 Pastor Jon Hobbs
In light of the ‘assisted suicide’ debate in Parliament, Pastor Jon Hobbs of Grace Church in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, has shared a Biblical perspective he delivered in a sermon a few years ago on the command not to kill, applied to euthanasia and ‘assisted suicide.’

He explains that “we can only grasp the seriousness of these crimes when we grasp the wonder of being in God’s image. How we treat His representatives is how we treat Him. And so killing another human being is an act of violence against God, second only to killing His actual Son.”

Jon concludes that “there is something that is more important than our right to choose when and how we die and that is the importance of upholding the dignity of the human species as those made in the image of God.”

Exodus 20v13 : You shall not murder
The command: the unauthorised killing of another human being
Now the Hebrew word translated “murder” is not the usual one to describe killing. This suggests not
all killing is being forbidden here. And this is confirmed by the big picture of God’s law. You see
elsewhere, the LORD actually AUTHORISES killing in two particular instances. The first is in the
case of divinely sanctioned wars. The second is as punishment for certain crimes.1
Now these are tricky subjects we cannot deal with in a small section of a sermon. But if we were
able to establish from the NT that there are still times when war or the death penalty is justified, then
we would have to agree that these are not forbidden by this commandment either.
In other words, the command outlaws only the UNAUTHORISED killing of another human being.
And in the bigger picture, there are four forbidden outfits that death might come dressed in.
(1) deliberation (Num 35:22-24 cf. Ex 21:12-14)2 As in our law, the issue of intent is a key factor
in determining whether killing is murder. (2) conspiracy (2 Sam 12:9) 3
Intentionally arranging the
circumstances leading to someone’s death is condemned too. (3) hostility (Num 35:16-21).
4
This is
less obvious to us. If someone died as a result of an everyday fight, even if death was not intended,
then the one who struck them was classed as a murderer too. I have to say, seeing such
consequences in such a serious light would certainly curb the rise in violence we see in our culture.
(4) negligence (Ex 21:28-29)
We’ll spend a bit more time on this because it is perhaps most relevant. Would you turn over one
page to Exodus 21? From verse 12, this whole chapter seeks to apply the sixth commandment just as
we have already done. Well take a look at verses v28-29 [READ]
There are just two preconditions in verse 29 that make the owner’s actions a breach of command “do
not kill.” The bull has previously been dangerous, and the owner has previously been warned.
Unless these two things have taken place, verse 28 tells us the owner is not to be held responsible.
But where they have, the owner is guilty.
Illustration: Just a few years ago, five year old Ellen Lawrenson was killed by her uncle’s dog.
Well not only was the dog illegal under the dangerous dogs act, but the uncle had been warned twice
by police about incidents involving the dog.
It would seem that just this sort of scenario is envisaged here. But we might ponder other scenarios
too. The driver who kills a pedestrian having been previously warned about their driving. Or the
boss whose machinery kills a worker, but who has been warned about getting it serviced.

The Government has announced its intention to press ahead with a new IVF technique that will result in the creation of children with three, instead of two, genetic parents - despite opposition from 60 per cent of those who responded to a public consultation on the proposals earlier this year.

Public Health Minister, Jane Ellison MP, made a statement in the House of Lords confirming that the Government will proceed with placing regulations before Parliament following the publication of the Department of Health's response to its 12-week consultation on Tuesday (22 June).

Ms Ellison said that the Government has “taken the view that our policy position on the key issues remains the correct one.”  However, 1,152 of the 1,857 responses received to the consultation were opposed to the technique, echoing widespread concerns surrounding the ethics and unknown health risks of the procedure.

Respondents noted the lack of evidence to prove that the proposed technique was sufficiently safe for clinical use, highlighting that the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) itself has recommended that a series of further critical tests be carried out before proceeding with human trials.

Despite this, ministers have called for a "firm timetable" for regulations to be placed before Parliament at the earliest opportunity.

Responding to the development, Dr David King, director of Human Genetics Alert, said: “Looking back 15 years from now in the midst of a designer baby marketplace, people will see this as the moment when the crucial ethical line was crossed.

“A precautionary approach would demand much more evidence and the government would wait for that rather than rushing legislation through.”

Increasing number of British couples travel to US for sex-selective IVF

A growing number of British parents are travelling to America for IVF treatment that allows them to choose the sex of their baby.

Dr Daniel Potter, who runs the largest fertility clinic in the West Coast of America, reports that the number of British couples travelling to his clinic for treatment has increased by a fifth every year. Of these parents, only one in five requests a baby girl.

The fertility expert has delivered over 750 babies to UK mothers since 1997 and currently treats around 10 British patients a month.  Often, these patients do not need fertility treatment in order to conceive, and go through the process in order to select an embryo based on its gender before transfer into the womb.

'Educate on gender selection'

Dr Potter is currently visiting the UK to discuss ‘gender selection’. Speaking about the aims of his trip he said: “I'm here to educate the British public on gender selection, explain the process and address some of the misconceptions surrounding the treatment.

"With more and more of my patients coming from the UK, I wanted to meet people face to face and explain that gender selection is a tested, trusted resource available to families."

Official figures show surge in repeat abortions

Fiona Bruce MP

New official figures show a surge in the number of women having nine or more terminations, raising concerns that the procedure was being used increasingly as a means of contraception.

The Department of Health figures show that there were 202,577 abortions in mainland Britain last year taking the total for the last decade to just under two million. Of these, 50 women were treated for nine abortions or more.

A British schoolgirl had her fourth abortion in 2012, and a further five girls had three terminations before the age of consent. They are among more than 200 under-16s to have had repeat abortions since 2011.

Abortion used as "substitute for contraception"

Commenting on the statistics, Conservative MP, Fiona Bruce said: "Rather than providing for abortion in exceptional circumstances as originally intended by the Abortion Act, these figures show a concerning and increasing trend of abortion sadly being used as a lifestyle choice or as a substitute for contraception.

"Better counselling and advice is needed for women as to the alternatives to abortion available in order to reduce multiple abortions and the potential negative effects upon the women themselves."

Victory for Civil Engineer dismissed for speaking about Jesus at work

A Christian, who was sacked by South Tipperary County Council for speaking about Jesus and sharing the Gospel with others during working hours, has won his religious discrimination case.

In April 2008, John McAteer, a civil engineer, was informed by the council’s human resources officer that a complaint had been received that he had spoken about his faith in the office.  He was told that he was not permitted to share the Gospel with colleagues and members of the public during work hours, including during his lunch break.

In June 2008, he was required to attend a disciplinary meeting about a number of instances where he had spoken about his beliefs with members of the public during office hours.  He was warned that if he continued to share his faith with people during normal working hours, he would be sacked.

In June 2010, he was dismissed after management heard that he had shared the Gospel with a man working as a contractor at the council offices.

The Equality Officer, Marian Dufy found that the ban imposed on Mr McAteer on sharing his faith between 9am and 5pm impacted disproportionately on those of the Christian faith, noting that European charters on human rights and freedoms protect the right of to manifest religious beliefs in the workplace.

She concluded that an award of €70,000 would be appropriate since Mr McAteer, whose salary had been €54,000, has only succeeded in finding part-time work since his dismissal.

Welcoming the result, Andrea Williams, CEO of the Christian Legal Centre, said:

“Over the past decade the Christian Legal Centre has supported Christians who have found themselves in trouble at work for speaking about Jesus Christ. We welcome this result and hope that employers will think twice before instigating disciplinary action in these kinds of situations. We are hoping we will see more judgments like this Irish one in the UK.”

Islamist hardliners imposed “intolerant and aggressive Islamic ethos” at Birmingham schools

The final in a series of reports on the ‘Trojan Horse’ plot by Islamist school governors and teachers to take over several schools in Birmingham, has revealed that City Council officials had failed to take action despite being aware of the plot two years ago.

Former counter-terrorism chief, Peter Clarke, reported this week that as a result of the cover-up, teachers at the centre of the scandal were still keeping their jobs. His report says council officials ”failed to intervene appropriately” because they feared offending the Muslim community.

Mr Clarke revealed that teachers forced out of three schools at the centre of the Trojan Horse investigation were prevented from raising concerns because of gagging agreements.

A former staff member at a school involved in the scandal told the BBC that compromise agreements were being routinely used to silence teachers who were being forced out of their jobs. The teacher, who wishes to remain anonymous, said, “It’s quite clear what the compromise agreement says. It’s clear that I should not speak out about it to anybody or show the agreement to anybody.”

The new Education Secretary, Nicky Morgan, told the House of Commons that teachers involved in allowing extremism in the Birmingham schools will face misconduct hearings in the light of Mr Clarke’s report.

In the wake of the inquiry, Sharia expert, Sam Solomon, co-founder of Christian Concern, said that evidence of the alleged 'plot' to apply Islamic laws in schools should ring a “warning bell” about the strategic aim that drives Islam – the imposition of sharia throughout British society.

He warned that Britain must safeguard its value system against an on-going plan by Islamists to subjugate the British way of life to sharia.  Read his full piece here >

The world must respond to the cry of Iraq’s Christians

 Lord Alton
An appeal to world leaders to "wake up urgently" to the persecution of Christians in Iraq has been made by the cross-bench Peer, Lord Alton of Liverpool.

Writing in The Times, Lord Alton, says Islamist jihadists have been targeting Iraq’s Christians who still pray in Aramaic, the language Jesus spoke.

"Religious cleansing"

He describes the persecution by the jihadist group, Isis, as “religious cleansing”, highlighting the fact that once there were 30,000 Christians in the city of Mozul, Capital of Nineveh Province in Northern Iraq, but now there are none.

"Before pitilessly exiling the Christians on foot, Isis stole everything they had — homes, businesses, cars, money and even wedding rings, sometimes with the ring fingers attached. Churches have all been destroyed, shuttered or turned into mosques," he said.

Religious freedom under threat across the world

An increased international focus on protection of religious freedom is required to combat the worldwide persecution, torture and killing of Christians, says Cross-bench Peer, Lord Alton.

The Peer made the statement whilst leading a debate calling on the House of Lords to note that Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) was “under threat in almost every corner of the world”.

Lord Aton asked the House to take note of international compliance with Article 18 and said greater devotion to the protection of religious freedom was required. Article 18 of the UDHR stipulates that, "Everyone shall have the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion.”

Lord Alton drew on many international examples of the persecution of Christians around the world. Christians in Iran were subject to torture, raids, and threats of execution for their beliefs. He said Iraq’s second largest city did not have a Christian community due to “religious cleansing” and he told Peers, “anyone who stays and refuses to convert will be crucified.” In Syria, 75 Dutch Jesuits had been murdered, illustrating why 450,000 Christians had fled. In China, protestant and Catholic churches were persecuted for their faith.

“There are many benefits to a nation which promotes freedom of religion,” he added, explaining that societies which denied freedom were “unhappy.”

“This can be measured by the link between economics and religious freedom. A society which promotes religious freedom will be enlivened and enriched. Those which don’t will be in decay.”

Lord Bach supported the cross-bench member saying Lord Alton’s motion was “right and action is necessary”. He said the House looked forward to hearing what the Government proposed to do about the situation.

High Court decision on ‘Ex-Gay’ bus advert case imminent: Please pray

Boris Johnson

Above: Core Issues advert
Below: Stonewall advert
Please continue to pray that justice will be done and that freedom of expression will be upheld as we await the imminent decision by Mrs Justice Lang in the 'London Bus Ad' case.

You will remember that in the recent hearing before the High Court Judge, an important development took place when she examined contradictory statements about the role of Mayor Boris Johnson in having the advert banned.

The ad had sought to highlight that some people who experience same-sex attraction do not wish to embrace a same-sex lifestyle. It read ‘Not Gay! Ex-Gay, Post-Gay and Proud. Get over it!’ and was created in direct response to a provocative campaign from homosexual campaign group, Stonewall, which read ‘Some people are gay. Get over it!’

While the Stonewall ad was allowed to run, the response advert was pulled at the last minute following political and media pressure and during the London Mayoral election, just two days before Boris Johnson was due to appear at a hustings event organised by Stonewall.

Correspondence presented to the Court, from the time of the ban, highlighted the role played by the Mayor. One letter from the Mayor stated, ‘I instructed that [the ad] be immediately stopped’. Emails originating from senior staff within the Mayor’s Office and Transport for London (TfL) read ‘Boris has just instructed TfL to pull the adverts’, ‘The Mayor’s intervention is coming through strongly’ and ‘The mayor immediately put the wheels into motion to halt the campaign after being alerted to the plans by the Guardian’.

However, in a statement to the High Court, the Mayor said that he ‘did not instruct TfL to do anything’.

In response to the contradictory evidence, his lawyers told the Court that when used in the original correspondence, the word ‘instruct’ should only be understood to mean that Boris Johnson offered his opinion to TfL, not that he took the decision.

The case against the Mayor and Transport for London is being brought by Core Issues Trust, a Christian charity that supports those facing unwanted same-sex attraction.

Core Issues Trust is being supported by the Christian Legal Centre.

Judgment against 'anti-Islam' dismissal: Please continue to pray

Watch a film interview with
Nohad Halawi >

The judgment is expected shortly by the Court of Appeal in the case of Christian Legal Centre client, Nohad Halawi, who was dismissed from her job at Heathrow airport after her comments were incorrectly perceived by Muslim colleagues as being offensive to Islam.

In 2012, an Employment Tribunal ruled that Nohad had no protection under employment law as she was not technically employed, despite significant evidence to the contrary.

The Court of Appeal's judgment in the case was reserved last month. We ask you to continue to pray that:

•  The Court of Appeal will give full weight to the argument that Nohad should be recognised as an employee, and should therefore be protected against discrimination
•   Nohad will know the strength and peace of the Lord at this latest stage of a difficult and long running case

EXCLUSIVE: Tragic Jill Dando probed BBC PAEDO ring
MURDERED TV presenter Jill Dando tried to expose a paedophile ring involving “big-name” BBC stars, a former colleague has claimed.

Jill Dando told bosses about claims of sexual abuse [BBC]
According to the retired BBC worker, the Crimewatch host was told that DJs, stars and corporation staff were involved in organised abuse.

But when she tried to get bosses to investigate the alleged ring and other abuse complaints inside the BBC “no one wanted to know”, the former friend said.

Undeterred, Jill is said to have then raised the claims with senior management in the mid-1990s but no investigation took place.

The TV host was shot dead a few years later on the doorstep of her London home. The 37-year-old’s murder remains unsolved.

Her ex-colleague, who asked to remain anonymous, said: “I don’t recall the names of all the stars now and don’t really want to implicate anyone but Jill said they were surprisingly big names.

“I think she was quite shocked when told about images of children and that information on how to join this horrible paedophile ring was freely available.

“Jill said others had complained to her about sexual matters and that some fellow female workmates also claimed they had been groped or assaulted.

“Nothing had been done and there seemed to be a policy of turning a blind eye.”

“There seemed to be a policy of turning a blind eye”

The source told how female colleagues went to Jill, who was then one of the best-known faces on TV.

She said: “I think it was in the mid 1990s, Jill was working on almost everything then including Crimewatch and Holiday.

“She was seen as the face of the BBC and a magnet for women with problems.

“She compiled a file of complaints but she was not really an investigative journalist, just a presenter.

“She passed the information to someone else and they gave it back. No one wanted to know.

“I do remember that she gave a file to senior management. I don’t think she heard any more.

“Other women who complained told Jill they didn’t want to risk their careers by making official statements against individuals as they would lose their jobs and that bosses seemed to ignore it.

“We all decided the best way was to keep our heads down and to always try to go somewhere with a colleague.”

The BBC said it would look into the allegations but added: “We have not seen anything to substantiate these claims.” Presenters Liz Kershaw and Miriam O’Reilly have both made allegations of sexual harassment at the BBC.

After Jimmy Savile was exposed as a paedophile and serial sex attacker in 2012, fellow BBC presenter Sally Jones spoke of how he had tried to grope her in a lift.

She confi ded in Jill after the attack, adding that the Crimewatch host said “she had had to fend off plenty of unwelcome advances herself”.

Sally said Jill told her Savile was “just a dirty old perv”.

Jill was shot dead on the doorstep of her home in Fulham in 1999.

Barry George was found guilty of her murder in 2001 but his conviction was quashed in 2008.

Jill joined a campaign to help children spot paedophiles the year before she died.

Emergency phone and internet data laws to be passed

David Cameron: "The public should be worried if we didn't act"
VIDEO

Prime Minister David Cameron has secured the backing of all three main parties for the highly unusual move.

He said urgent action was needed to protect the public from "criminals and terrorists" after the European Court of Justice struck down existing powers.
But civil liberties campaigners have warned it will invade people's privacy.
Mr Cameron defended the move in a joint news conference with Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, saying it was about maintaining existing capabilities - not introducing new snooping laws.
But it will make legally clear the requirements include companies based abroad, whose phone and internet services are used in the UK. A former senior diplomat will also be appointed to work with other nations to speed up the "lawful and justified" transfer of data across borders.
Mr Cameron also said he had reached an agreement with Labour leader Ed Miliband for a wider review of the surveillance powers needed by the security services, to report after the next election.
Key questions answered
What is the emergency legislation?

The legislation is primarily aimed at the companies that provide us with telephone and internet connections. It outlines their legal obligation to retain "communications data" on their customers. This metadata includes things like logs of when calls were made, what numbers were dialled, and other information that can be used, the government says, in investigations. It does not include the content of the communications.
Will it mean the government can listen in to my calls?
Not exactly. The vast majority of people will only have data collected on things such as the time a call is made and the number that was called - not the actual contents of that communication. But the emergency law does go further - the law reinforces the ability of authorities to carry out what is known as a "legal intercept". This is when a target is identified for additional monitoring - including listening in to phone calls and other communications.
Read the full guide
Mr Cameron said: "We face real and credible threats to our security from serious and organised crime, from the activity of paedophiles, from the collapse of Syria, the growth of Isis in Iraq and al Shabab in East Africa.
"I am simply not prepared to be a prime minister who has to address the people after a terrorist incident and explain that I could have done more to prevent it."
He added: "I want to be very clear that we are not introducing new powers or capabilities - that is not for this Parliament.
"This is about restoring two vital measures ensuring that our law enforcement and intelligence agencies maintain the right tools to keep us all safe."
In return for agreeing to back the legislation, Labour and the Lib Dems highlighted new moves to "increase transparency and oversight", including:
The creation of a new Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board to scrutinise the impact of the law on privacy and civil liberties
Annual government transparency reports on how these powers are used
The appointment of a senior former diplomat to lead discussions with the US government and internet firms to establish a new international agreement for sharing data between legal jurisdictions
A restriction on the number of public bodies, including Royal Mail, able to ask for communications data under the controversial Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act (RIPA)
Termination clause ensuring these powers expire at the end of 2016
A wider review of the powers needed by government during the next parliament
Mr Cameron stressed that the data being retained does not include the content of messages and phone calls - just when and who the companies' customers called, texted and emailed.

But the emergency Data Retention and Investigation Powers Bill would also "clarify" the law on bugging of suspects' phones by the police and security services, when the home secretary issues a warrant, after concerns service providers were turning down requests.
"Some companies are already saying they can no longer work with us unless UK law is clarified immediately," said Mr Cameron.
"Sometimes in the dangerous world in which we live we need our security services to listen to someone's phone and read their emails to identify and disrupt a terrorist plot."

Nick Robinson explains why there is a rush to bring in the new law

Critics will no doubt argue that the time for a debate about what powers will replace this law is now. To pass any new law in just a week is rare. So too is it to have the backing of all three main parties even before it is published. Read more from Nick
The government says it was forced to act after the European Court struck down an EU directive in April requiring phone and internet companies to retain communications data on the grounds that it infringed human rights.
Emergency legislation was needed, the government argues, because service providers were being threatened with legal action by campaigners if they did not start destroying data that could prove vital to criminal investigations and court cases.
But Conservative MP and former shadow home secretary David Davis, a longstanding campaigner on civil liberties, accused the government of staging a "theatrical emergency," adding that ministers had "plenty of time" to come up with a response to April's court ruling rather than rushing it through Parliament without proper scrutiny.
"This is complicated law, it needs to be got right," he told BBC Radio 4's The World at One.
Analysis
By Gordon Corera, BBC security correspondent

GCHQ listening post at Bude
There is no doubt that gathering communications data can be a powerful tool. Officials say it has played a role in almost all serious criminal cases and counter-terrorist investigations in recent years.

But the political context around its use has changed - partly but not entirely due to the Edward Snowden revelations. It has led commercial communications companies to become nervous about being seen to help government too readily and to them demanding more clarity over the law.
Overall, the new environment has led to more questions being raised about whether there is sufficient transparency, accountability and oversight.
Shami Chakrabarti, director of campaign group Liberty, said: "We are told this is a paedophile and jihadi 'emergency', but the court judgment they seek to ignore was handed down over three months ago and this isn't snooping on suspects but on everyone."
David Cameron believes existing surveillance powers do not go far enough and he repeated his promise to push ahead with plans for a giant database of all websites visited by UK citizens, dubbed a "snooper's charter" by critics, if he wins the next election.
Nick Clegg blocked attempts by this government to pass the "snooper's charter" - but he said he had been convinced of the need for the more limited powers contained in the emergency Data Retention and Investigation Powers Bill.
The legislation contains what Mr Clegg described as a "poisoned pill" which will mean the powers cease at the end of 2016, in an effort to ensure the next parliament takes a more considered look at the issue.
Shami Chakrabarti says the emergency legislation is about "snooping on everyone"
The Lib Dem leader said successive governments had "neglected civil liberties as they claim to pursue greater security", but added: "I wouldn't be standing here today if I didn't believe there is an urgent challenge facing us.

"No government embarks on emergency legislation lightly but I have been persuaded of the need to act and act fast."
The bill will be pushed through Parliament in seven days - a process that normally takes several months.
MPs will be given a chance to debate it in an extended Commons sitting on Tuesday, but Labour's Tom Watson said they would not get time to properly consider the plans and he branded it a "stitch-up".
But Mr Watson was one of the few MPs to voice doubts about the legislation in the Commons earlier, where Home Secretary Theresa May accused the Labour MP of finding a "conspiracy at all costs".
Labour leader Ed Miliband and shadow home secretary Yvette Cooper confirmed that Labour would support the emergency legislation, telling the party's MPs in a letter: "Serious criminal investigations and counter terrorism intelligence operations must not be jeopardised.
'Lateness of legislation'
"That is why we are supporting this emergency legislation which we accept is designed solely to protect existing capabilities."

But Ms Cooper said: "There will be serious concern in Parliament and across the country at the lateness of this legislative proposal and the short time to consider something so important."
Mobile phone and computer
The Open Rights Group, which has been pushing service providers to start destroying data following the European Court ruling, criticised the government for using the threat of terrorism to push through an "emergency law" that it says has no legal basis.

Executive Director Jim Killock said: "Not only will the proposed legislation infringe our right to privacy, it will also set a dangerous precedent where the government simply re-legislates every time it disagrees with a decision by the CJEU.
"The ruling still stands and these new plans may actually increase the amount of our personal data that is retained by ISPs, further infringing on our right to privacy.
"Blanket surveillance needs to end. That is what the court has said."
Scottish Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill has accused the UK government of a "lack of prior consultation", adding that the legislation could affect Scots law and matters devolved to the Scottish government.

Frustrated holidaymakers faced long delays at airports yesterday on the first full day of increased security checks.Queues stretched outside the terminal doors at one airport because of the crackdown – brought in amid fears Al Qaeda has developed a ‘stealth bomb’ undetectable to scanners.Air passengers around the country were subjected to ‘vigorous’ body searches, with their shoes removed and swabbed for traces of explosives.

Queues at Manchester Airport this morning, the day after new security checks were brought in to search for so-called ‘stealth bombs’ which are feared to be undetectable to airport scannersmanchesterPassengers joined queues starting outside Manchester airport today, with many complaining of delaysThey were also told to switch on their tablets, smartphones and laptops to prove they are not hiding something more sinister. Some customers said it took them 90 minutes just to get through security – and holidaymakers have now been warned to allow for least three hours before their flight time.

Angry travellers branded the delays an ‘absolute joke’ and ‘like wading through treacle’. Airline chiefs are braced for further problems as one of the busiest weekends of the summer gets underway. The checks have been brought in due to fears that Al Qaeda’s top bomb-maker Ibrahim Al-Asiri has developed a non-metallic ‘stealth bomb’ that can be hidden inside human bodies or other devices.
The use of body scanners, swabs and patting down have all been increased at UK airports while some bags are being searched twice.Passengers are removing shoes and belts as a matter of course, while those on US-bound flights are likely to face further screening and searches of bags at the boarding gates.
The alert has sparked fears of a summer of travel chaos with holidaymakers facing invasive personal checks and long delays.Heathrow alone handles more than 190,000 passengers a day and across the country 24million people will fly abroad before September – 3million to the US.A spokesman for travel industry body ABTA said: ‘The main thing is to make sure that airports have sufficient measures in place to ensure all the available security gates are open.’At Manchester Airport, officials said problems were made worse by many travellers arriving earlier than normal because of the extra checks.
Some complained they were left standing outside the terminal building before they could even check in.Sam Lavelle posted pictures of fellow passengers queuing in the drop-off zone outside Terminal One, writing: ‘The queue is literally outside the door and onto the road.’ Elissa Corrigan described the wait as ‘soul destroying’.And Ian Moreno-Melgar, who was heading to Belfast for a wedding, tweeted: ‘Queuing in the car park for security isn’t normal.’But at Heathrow passengers appeared resigned to longer and more intrusive searches as they were subjected to what one termed ‘American-style security’.jihad printer

100 imams say Muslims should help Syrians ‘in responsible way’ from UKA British Jihadi who claims he is fighting alongside militants in Syria has said he will return to the UK when he sees ‘the black flag of Islam’ hanging over Buckingham Palace. The man, who called himself Abu Osama, said he had been taking part in military training, making bombs and fighting with the extremist Al-Nusra Front, which is linked to al Qaida, for the past year.
Osuma, whose accent suggested he comes from the north of England, claimed to have been fighting for the establishment of a caliphate – which he referred to by the Arabic term Khilafah – across the Islamic world.

He told BBC 5 Live’s Nicky Campbell: ‘There is nothing in Britain – it is just pure evil.‘If and when I come back to Britain it will be when this Khilafah – this Islamic state – comes to conquer Britain and I come to raise the black flag of Islam over Downing Street, over Buckingham Palace, over Tower Bridge and over Big Ben.’But he added: ‘I have no intention of coming back to Britain, because I have come to revive the Islamic Khilafah. This is just a temporary separation.‘They said, “We understand now what you are doing”, and my mother said, “I have sold you to Allah. I don’t want to see you again in this world”.’
he comments were broadcast as religious leaders called on British Muslims not to travel to Syria and Iraq, amid fears of jihadis fleeing the country to take part in terrorism.

An open letter signed by more than 100 imams from across major theological backgrounds has urged British Muslim communities ‘to continue the generous and tireless effort to support all of those affected by the crisis in Syria and unfolding events in Iraq’, but to do so ‘from the UK in a safe and responsible way’.The imams’ open letter read: ‘As the crisis in Syria and Iraq deepens, we the under-signed have come together as a unified voice to urge the British Muslim communities not to fall prey to any form of sectarian divisions or social discord.‘Ramadan, the month of mercy, teaches us the value of unity and perseverance and we urge the British Muslim communities to continue the generous and tireless efforts to support all of those affected by the crisis in Syria and unfolding events in Iraq, but to do so from the UK in a safe and responsible way.
’The letter comes during the Islamic festival of Ramadan, but against a troubling backdrop of tensions between the Middle East and the west.Sure sounds like these imams are urging Muslims to support jihad from the UK instead of going there. Read it carefully. - See more at: http://pamelageller.com/2014/07/british-muslim-fighter-waging-jihad-syria-year-says-hell-return-britain-black-flag-islam-hangs-buckingham-palace.html/#sthash.jgBMSW4q.dpuf

More Brits signing up to fight with jihadist militants in Iraq and Syria than for the UK Army Reserve
Several hundred Brits thought to be fighting in Middle East killing fields
But just 170 recruited as reservists in 12 months to April despite hiring push
Figures 'shameful, embarrassing and will cause deep concern' say MPs

By TOM MCTAGUE, MAIL ONLINE DEPUTY POLITICAL EDITOR
PUBLISHED: 09:27, 17 June 2014 | UPDATED: 11:34, 17 June 2014

More British citizens signed up to fight in Iraq and Syria than joined the Army Reserve last year, it can be revealed.
Just 170 extra reservists enlisted over the past year - despite a Government target to boost the stand-by force by 11,000 by 2018.
But at the same time the brutal al-Qaeda inspired ISIS forces tearing through Iraq have been boosted by 'several hundred' Brits, ministers told MailOnline.

Terror experts believe there could be as many as 500 Brits fighting alongside the jihadists in the Middle East for ISIS (Islamic State in Iraq and Syria).
A senior government minister said: ‘There is a real problem about people going in and being radicalised and then coming home. There are several hundred who have gone from Britain that we know of. It is a worry.

'To get to Iraq most of them will have to go through Syria, so the two are connected.’
Foreign Secretary William Hague yesterday admitted Brit will 'inevitably' be fighting alongside ISIS which he called the 'most violent and brutal militant group in the Middle East'.
He said the majority of Isis' members were Iraqi or Syrian but 'it also includes a significant number of foreign fighters among its ranks'.

Mr Hague said: 'As I have previously told this House, we estimate the number of UK-linked individuals fighting in Syria to include approximately 400 British nationals and other UK-linked individuals who could present a particular risk should they return to the UK.' He said 'some of these, inevitably' are 'fighting with' Isis.

Shadow defence secretary Vernon Coaker said he revelation was humiliating for the country and needed to be tackled.
Mr Coaker said: 'The government's own figures show more UK citizens are joining ISIS than signing up for the Armed Forces Reserves. This is shameful, embarrassing and will cause deep concern.
'We need to see action to ensure recruitment to the Armed Forces meets the targets set. Otherwise, Britain will be left with a dangerous capability gap.'

The Government has launched a campaign to recruit 11,000 new reservists to boost the size of the back-up force to 30,000 by 2018. But between April 2013 and April 2014 just 170 signed up

Shadow defence secretary Vernon Coaker (centre), with Labour leader Ed Miliband on a surprise visit to Camp Bastion earlier this year, attacked the 'shameful' failure to recruit British forces for the Army Reserve
In the whole of 2013 the number of British Army reservists actually fell by 50 to just 19,150 at the start of the year.
Over the 12 months to April this year – a period during in which the Government claimed recruitment had improved – the number of reservists in Britain increased by just 170.
The Army's stalling recruitment drive comes despite a pledge to raise the numbers of reservists to 30,000 by 2018.
The Ministry of Defence has insisted it was confident the target would be met - as part of plans to slash the size of the regular Army from 102,000 in 2010 to 82,000 in 2018.
But this would require an extra 2,750 reservists a year to be recruited.

The MoD said: 'Although there have been a number of technical challenges, the programme is on track and the Reserves are now growing in size for the first time in 18 years.'
Foreign Affairs Select Committee member Mike Gapes said it was 'shocking and very worrying' that more British citizens were prepared to risk their lives fighting alongside terrorists in the Middle East than had signed up for the Army Reserve.

Foreign Secretary William Hague, speaking in the Commons yesterday, said it was 'inevitable' that Brits were fighting alongside ISIS forces in Iraq and suggested 400 had travelled to the Middle East to join the battle against President Assad in some capacity
He said: 'There are clearly a pool of people who are being recruited by these extremist groups through the internet. It is very serious and we have got to be very tough on it.
'These figures show there is a minority of people who are fanatical and prepared to join extremist groups, but also that the Government's recruitment to the Army Reserves is not going very well at all.

'There are large numbers living in this country going to fight for these vile terrorist organisations and that's very worrying, particularly if they are returning to Britain having seen what they have seen and looking to recruit terrorists back here.'
The revelation comes after former Prime Minister Tony Blair said British fighters returning from Iraq and Syria were the Government's single, biggest security concern.

Mr Blair said: 'If we don't deal with the Syria issue then the problems are not just going to be for Syria and for the region, the problems are actually going to come back and they are going to hit us very directly even in our own country.'
He added: 'If you talk to security services in France and Germany and the UK, they will tell you their biggest single worry today returning jihadists fighters - our own citizens by the way - from Syria.'
Charlie Cooper, an expert at the anti-extremist think tank, Quilliam Foundation, said the number of Brits signing up to fight in the Middle East would only grow.
He said: 'People are going from Britain and the EU to fight for ISIS - the estimate is more than 500 and that number will probably rise.
'If you want to go and fight jihad, ISIS, which holds a particularly extreme view of Islam and wants to create an extreme Islamic utopia, is a very attractive group to fight for.'

While the British Army Reserve has struggled to attract recruits, the brutal ISIS insurgency in Iraq has been bolstered by 'several hundred' British-born fighters. An image emerged over the weekend  allegedly showing ISIS militants executing dozens of captured Iraqi security forces members at an unknown location in the Salaheddin province. British security services fear ISIS recruits will return to the UK scarred by their experience in Iraq

The al-Qaeda inspired ISIS terror group has carved out an area of control across the middle east, threatening to tear apart the current national borders. A senior government minister told MailOnline the route into Iraq for many Brits was through war-ravaged Syria, to the west

David Cameron's official spokesman has acknowledged fears British citizens could be among the ISIS fighters in Iraq, saying: 'Our security services and all the relevant agencies will be monitoring those types of risks very closely.
'Clearly there is a very porous border between parts of Syria and parts of Iraq.

'As the Prime Minister has said, the greatest extremist activity and jihadist threats to the international community are in Syria. We need to keep these things under very close watch.'
Immigration and Security Minister James Brokenshire, meanwhile, has warned any Brits considering joining the battle abroad that they will face jail in Britain for any terror-related offences - even if they are carried out abroad.
He said: 'The Serious Crime Bill would extend the reach of the Terrorism Act 2006 so that UK-linked individuals and those who seek to harm UK interests, who travel overseas to prepare or train more generally for terrorism, can be prosecuted as if their actions had taken place in the UK.'
A Foreign Office spokesman has previously added: 'People who are thinking about travelling to Syria to engage in terrorist activity should be in no doubt that we will take the strongest possible action to protect our national security, including prosecuting those who break the law.'
Mail Online approached the Ministry of Defence about the revelations, but has not received any response.

David Cameron joins calls for promoting 'British values' in schools
Prime minister says it is not an option for anyone living in UK not to abide by British values such as equality and rule of law

A failure to promote "British values" in a muscular way is allowing extremism to grow in the UK, David Cameron has said.

The prime minister revealed plans to teach all school pupils about the Magna Carta in response to allegations of extremism at schools in Birmingham. Last week he backed education secretary Michael Gove's plans to put British values at the heart of the national curriculum.
In a Mail on Sunday article he said that values including freedom, tolerance of others, accepting personal and social responsibility, and respecting and upholding the rule of law were not optional.
"We need to be far more muscular in promoting British values and the institutions that uphold them," Cameron wrote.
Rejecting the moral relativism of some of his critics, he said: "A genuinely liberal country believes in certain values, actively promotes them and says to its citizens: this is what defines us as a society."
He added that children from all backgrounds should be taught about the Magna Carta, saying the document established the rule of law and paved the way for parliamentary democracy. He also repeated that his favourite book remained Our Island Story, a one-volume popular account of British history written by HE Marshall.
Cameron revealed last night that he would use events over the next year to mark the 800th anniversary of King John's signing of the Magna Carta as the centrepiece of a fightback against extremism. Describing the document as "the foundation of all our laws and liberties", he said: "I want to use this anniversary as an opportunity for every child to learn about the Magna Carta, for towns to commemorate it, for events to celebrate it."
Cameron will host a reception at Downing Street on Monday to launch a year of events to commemorate the charter's signing on 15 June 1215 at Runnymede.
In September 2012, during an appearance on the Letterman programme, Cameron was pressed on his knowledge of Magna Carta and struggled.
He correctly said the Magna Carta was signed on 1215 on an island in the Thames, but asked to give the literal translation of the name, he replied: "Again you are testing me." Letteman replied: "Oh, it would be good if you knew this." Cameron replied: "Yeah, well it would be."
The prime minister was saved by a commercial break on the programme and when the show restarted Letterman told him Magna Carta literally meant "great charter".
The commemorations of the Magna Carta will mirror those marking the centenary of the first world war, with school lessons, television programmes and public events combining to raise awareness.
In his article for the Mail on Sunday, Cameron said: "It's a great document in our history – what my favourite book, Our Island Story, describes as the 'foundation of all our laws and liberties'. In sealing it, King John had to accept his subjects were citizens – for the first time giving them rights, protections and security.
"The remaining copies of that charter may have faded, but its principles shine as brightly as ever, and they paved the way for the democracy, the equality, the respect and the laws that make Britain Britain."

Cameron pledges lessons on Magna Carta as he seeks to push British values

PM says people shouldn’t be “bashful about Britishness"
LOULLA-MAE ELEFTHERIOU-SMITH   Sunday 15 June 2014

David Cameron has pledged to teach all school children about Magna Carta as he claims the country needs to be “more muscular” in promoting British values.
Mr Cameron said a “worrying” message of tolerance towards non-British values has led to division and allowed extremism in the UK.
The Prime Minister’s comments follow the controversy of the Trojan Horse schools scandal, in which the Islamist influence found at some institutions in Birmingham led to Education Secretary Michael Gove telling teachers that they must “actively promote British values”.
Mr Cameron said he wanted to use the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta, a year from today, as an opportunity for every child to learn about “the foundation of all our laws and principles”.
Writing in the Mail on Sunday today, Mr Cameron claimed that “in recent years, we have been in danger of sending out a worrying message: that if you don’t want to believe in democracy, that’s fine; that if equality isn’t your bag, don’t worry about it; that if you’re completely intolerant of others, we will still tolerate you.
“This has not just let to division it has also allowed extremism – of both the violent and non-violent kind – to flourish. We need to be far more muscular in promoting British values and the institutions that uphold them.”
Magna Carta, which was signed by King John in 1215, is “a great document in our history,” Mr Cameron said, adding: “It is what my favourite book, ‘Our Island Story’, describes as the ‘foundation of all our laws and liberties’. In sealing it, King John had to accept his subjects were citizens – for the first time giving them rights, protections and security."
The Prime Minister said that a “genuinely liberal country” believes in certain values, actively promotes them and “says to its citizens: this is what defines us as a society”.
He said the UK’s “belief in freedom, tolerance of others, accepting personal and social responsibility, respecting and upholding the rule of law” are as “British as the Union Flag, football and fish and chips”.
“We should not be squeamish about our achievements, or bashful about our Britishness,” he said.
Downing Street will launch the celebratory activity for the anniversary of Magna Carta at an event tomorrow, while the next 12 months will see dedicated lessons in schools teaching children about the charter, with specialist television programming and celebratory events planned.
Historian David Starkey, who is making a BBC2 series about Magna Carta to run next year, praised the plan to highlight the importance of the charter in schools. He said: “Every child, especially Muslim children, should be taught about Magna Carta.
“The reason people have become immigrants in Britain is precisely because they value life here. What are intrinsic to that life are the social, economic and political freedoms that go back to Magna Carta,” he told The Sunday Times.

United Utilities, the UK‘s largest listed water company supplying around 7 million homes in the North West of England, is the latest water utility to discover the merits of floating fine bubble aeration technology, developed and marketed by Israel’s Mapal Green Energy.

Announcing the installation of Mapal Green Energy’s Floating Fine Bubble Aeration (FFBA) system at its Horwich sludge plant, United Utilities said that it is upgrading its current installation with new equipment which is expected to be significantly more energy efficient.

The current plant comprises two biological reactors with a capacity of 3900 liters/hr. The existing installation of fixed mechanical aerators will be replaced with 16 floating fine bubble units. Surface aeration plats treat sewage using air and a biological floc composed of bacteria and protozoa.
Initial forecasts suggests that Mapal’s FFBA system is expected to deliver the same or improved process performance at up to 40% less power than is currently consumed, saving a possible 308 MWh of electricity per year.

Dale Walker, Senior Area Engineering Manager, United Utilities commented: “The system will provide a number of benefits in addition to attractive power savings and may provide a financially viable lower cost solution compared to traditional FBDA installations for small to medium sized surface aeration plants. The system can be retrofitted to existing plants and installed without requiring major shutdowns of the existing plant. The equipment is also readily accessible for maintenance purposes.”

The UU project team has worked closely with Mapal Green Energy’s engineers over the last few months to finalize the design and secure funding. The system is due to go live in August – the water firm will work with Mapal to maximize the benefits from the new plant.

Horwich will be the largest FFBA installation in the UK. Mapal said the FFBA units have been extensively tested. The supplier is confident the technology will deliver important energy savings and easier maintenance – the installation has no moving parts in the wastewater processing tank.
With over 35 installations worldwide, Mapal’s floating fine bubble aeration (FFBA) system has proven itself to meet and improve stringent sewage quality parameters including the reduction of organic components and Ammonia, and has achieved major cost savings, as well as delivered proven performance.

UK Home Secretary Theresa May on Muslim Trojan Horse school plot: “Is it true that the Department for Education was warned in 2010? If so, why did nobody act?”
EDUCATION: HIJACKING THE SYSTEM GLOBAL JIHAD 2014
    http://pamelageller.com/2014/06/uk-home-secretary-theresa-may-muslim-trojan-horse-school-plot-true-department-education-warned-2010-nobody-act.html/
Home Secretary Theresa May is shocked, shocked to discover that the Department for Education was warned in 2010 of the Islamic takeover plot of British school districts, and yet no one acted. May is clearly channeling Captain Renault in the film classic Casablanca, when he declares, “I’m shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here!” (after collecting his winnings, of course).

Theresa May caved to these same Islamic supremacists when they demanded that Robert Spencer and I be banned from speaking in the UK. A reckless and craven act of dhimmitude, which we are challenging with what appears to be good result. The trojan horse plot has been implemented for years without interruption because of the cowardice of British authorities like May.UK Home Secretary Theresa May on Muslim
Trojan Horse school plot: “Is it true that the Department for Education was warned in 2010? If so, why did nobody act?” (thanks to Robert Spencer)
Is Theresa May serious? She wants to know why nobody acted on Islamic supremacist attempts to take over British schools even when these plots became known? Nobody acted because of people like…Theresa May. Everyone was afraid to act because they were afraid that if they did, they would be labeled “Islamophobic” by a British political class that demonizes and even bans from the country those who speak out against jihad terror. When Britain collapses into civil war or capitulates totally to Sharia, the blame will be squarely on the shoulders of Theresa May and her allies and comrades.“Home Secretary Theresa May at war with Michael Gove as she sends him open letter calling for tougher rules to deal with Islamic extremism in schools after Trojan Horse plot,” by Richard Spillett, Daily Mail, June 4, 2014:Home Secretary

Theresa May has launched a thinly-veiled attack on Education Secretary Michael Gove over his handling of the Trojan Horse schools scandal. In a letter to her cabinet colleague, Mrs May called for tougher rules to tackle Islamic extremism in schools and asked why action was not taken sooner.A total of 21 schools in Birmingham have been inspected since allegations that Muslim hardliners were attempting to seize control of school boards in the city. After police, Ofsted and Department of Education launched investigations, a letter emerged in which Mrs May appeared to question Mr Gove’s response.

She wrote: ‘Is it true that Birmingham City Council was warned about these allegations in 2008? Is it true that the Department for Education was warned in 2010? If so, why did nobody act?‘I am aware that several investigations are still ongoing and those investigations are yet to conclude. But it is clear to me that we will need to take clear action to improve the quality of staffing and governance if we are to prevent extremism in schools.’A government task force on tackling extremism last year recommended a voluntary code of conduct to prevent children being exposed to ‘intolerant or extremist views’ in religious schools. But Mrs May said the Birmingham allegations showed the potential need for a mandatory code and urged Mr Gove to include that option in his plans.Mrs May wrote: ‘[Since] December there have been serious allegations of extremism in some Birmingham schools and accusations about the inability of local and central government to tackle the problem effectively.
‘In this context, I am not convinced that a voluntary code is sufficient and I believe it would be sensible to include the option of developing a mandatory code in your consultation document.’Mrs May said the Birmingham allegations ‘raise serious questions about the quality of school governance and oversight arrangements in the maintained sector, not just the supplementary schools that would be signatories to this code of practice’.Mrs May and Mr Gove moved to damp down speculation over a row within the Cabinet today, issuing a joint statement.
WHAT IS THE TROJAN HORSE PLOT?The so-called Trojan Horse plot first came to light earlier this year.
Department for Education inspectors were ordered into Park View School in Birmingham along with its sister schools, Golden Hillock and Nansen, after a letter dubbed ‘Trojan Horse’ was uncovered.

It is alleged girls at the school were forced to sit at the back of the classroom and non-Muslim pupils forced to ‘teach themselves’.The letter, which some have claimed is fake, prompted separate investigations by both the Department for Education (DfE) and Ofsted in to the school and several others in the area. The DfE has also appointed its own education commissioner, the former head of the Metropolitan Police’s counter-terrorism unit Peter Clarke for the investigation.

The National Association of Head Teachers said it had ‘serious concerns’ about attempts to ‘alter the character’ of at least six schools – warning the ‘plot’ was spreading across the country. It said: ‘The Department for Education and the Home Office take the problems in Birmingham schools and all issues relating to extremism very seriously.‘Michael Gove and Theresa May are working together to ensure we get to the bottom of what has happened in Birmingham and take the necessary steps to fix it.’And a source close to the

Education Secretary said: ‘Michael Gove thinks Theresa May is a superb Home Secretary.‘We will continue to work well with the Home Office and other Government departments to combat extremism in all its forms.’Of the 21 schools inspected over the alleged Trojan Horse plot by hardline Muslims to seize control of classrooms, three have so far been given a clean bill of health by Ofsted.Ninestiles School, an Academy in Acocks Green, Small Heath School, and Washwood Heath Academy are the first to publish the results of their inspections, after Mr Gove sent Ofsted in.
Park View school has been the focus of the most damning allegations after whistleblowing teachers claimed the school was in the hands of a group of extremists who infiltrated the governing body. But Park View trust, which runs the school and three others in the city, has denied any wrong-doing.Trust chairman Tahir Alam, who was accused of being part of the plot, has called the allegations ‘a witch-hunt’.The school said leaked Ofsted findings were causing ‘unwarranted and unnecessary concern’ for children and parents.

It came as 20 educationalists said the snap inspections called after the claims had ‘tarnished’ Ofsted’s reputation.
In a letter to the Guardian, a group of experts including Sir Tim Brighouse, a former chief education officer, said: ‘First-hand accounts of the Ofsted inspections that have emerged are disturbing.‘They suggest that inspectors were poorly prepared and had an agenda that calls into question Ofsted’s claim to be objective and professional in its appraisal of standards in schools serving predominately Muslim pupils.‘It is beyond belief that schools which were judged less than a year ago to be outstanding are now widely reported as “inadequate”, despite having the same curriculum, the same students, the same leadership team and the same governing body.’ - See more at:

Irish Pastor Under ‘Hate Crime’ Investigation For Sunday Sermon Against Islam
June 03, 2014 | Garrett Haley

A 75-year-old Irish preacher was subjected to a police probe after he condemned Islam in a sermon and was accused of ‘hate mongering.’

James McConnell, pastor of the Whitewell Metropolitan Church in North Belfast, Ireland, discussed the religion of Islam during an evening sermon on Sunday, May 18th. During the sermon, McConnell denounced Islam and said the contrast between it and Christianity is stark.
“The God we worship and serve this evening is not Allah,” he proclaimed, according to a video of his sermon. “The Muslim god—Allah—is a heathen deity. Allah is a cruel deity. Allah is a demon deity.”
McConnell then criticized the “foolish” British government for attempting to appease Muslims financially, saying Islam is “a doctrine spawned in hell.” He also noted that Christians around the world are persecuted for their faith by the “fanatical worshipers” of Allah.
According to the Belfast Telegraph, McConnell’s remarks were inspired by the current plight of Meriam Ibrahim—a professing Orthodox Christian woman in Sudan. As previously reported, Ibrahim was sentenced to hang after she was convicted of apostasy for refusing to deny her faith and convert to Islam.
Following McConnell’s May 18th sermon, the Police Service of Northern Ireland investigated the preacher for allegations of hate crime. Northern Ireland’s Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness described the preacher’s comments as “hate mongering” and said the anti-Muslim statements “must be condemned in the strongest possible terms.”
“Coming in the wake of recent spate of disgraceful racist attacks against families in parts of Belfast and elsewhere, such inflammatory comments only serve to fuel hatred,” McGuinness added, according to the Daily Mirror. “It is essential that there is a full and thorough investigation of these comments and their potential to generate further racist attacks.”
After McConnell’s sermon was publicized, numerous people denounced his message through social media and online comment threads. Furthemore, the Whitewell Metropolitan Church’s website was attacked by hackers and—as of late this week—was unavailable.
“There are currently attempts to hack and compromise our church website,” the church’s Facebook page explains. “The website is temporarily unavailable. Please be patient as we investigate further.”
In the midst of the attacks from non-Christians, many others have rallied to support McConell. Northern Ireland First Minister Peter Robinson said he has personally visited Whitewell Metropolitan Church several times and was thoroughly impressed by McConnell’s preaching.
“There isn’t an ounce of hatred in his bones,” Robinson stated in a newspaper interview. “This is someone who preaches the gospel.”
Later, Robinson clarified his comment in a statement:
“I strongly believe that Pastor James McConnell has the right to freedom of speech,” he explained. “I will defend his right just as I defend the right of others to express views with which I disagree. People have the right to express their differing views and indeed the essence of democracy is the ability to do so in a way that is free from fear and intimidation.”
Others have supported McConnell through social media.
“What Pastor McConnell said is simply the correct Christian standpoint, accurately reflecting the Biblical evaluation of good and evil,” one commenter noted.
“Sometimes the cold truth is what is needed,” another wrote. “If it does not exalt the name of Jesus then it is spawned in hell. Continue to stand for the gospel and shame on any man of God who turns on another for speaking truth.”

THE INDEPENDENT  TUESDAY 27 MAY 2014
Prince Charles set to court controversy again with comments on reforming capitalism
Prince Charles prompted a diplomatic spat with Russia last week when he compared Vladimir Putin to Hitler
ADAM SHERWIN  Author Biography   Monday 26 May 2014

The Prince of Wales is to speak at a major conference about reforming capitalism just days after the heir to the throne was warned not to speak out on matters of public controversy.

Prince Charles prompted a diplomatic spat with Russia last week when he compared Vladimir Putin to Hitler during a visit to Canada.
However the Prince will not be deflected from commenting on public affairs. Clarence House confirmed that he is address a conference staged by the Inclusive Capitalism Initiative at London’s Mansion House and Guildhall tomorrow (Tuesday).
The Prince is due to deliver the opening remarks at the conference, which will discuss measures to combat “worldwide increases in income inequality” as well as “historically high and persistent unemployment and short-term approaches to managing and owning companies.”
The agenda echoes Ed Miliband’s call for a “responsible capitalism” which would tackle issues such as excessive executive pay alongside reforms to create sustained growth and reduce inequality.
The conference seeks “practical ways to renew capitalism to make it an engine of economic opportunity and shared prosperity through the adoption of inclusive business practices.”
The event also asks how capitalism can generate “more jobs or better pay for workers”. The Prince’s speech will be followed with an address Michael Sommer, President of the German Confederation of Trade Unions and the International Trade Union Confederation.
His speech is titled: “The German model – how labour, management and capital can work together to increase the benefits of capitalism.”
Clarence House believes the conference is an appropriate forum for the Prince to speak. A spokesman said: “The Prince of Wales will attend the Conference on Inclusive Capitalism on Tuesday, as part of his standard engagement programme, at the invitation of the conference hosts The Lord Mayor of London and Lady de Rothschild. HRH will deliver the opening address, contributing to the discussion on ways to develop an inclusive, sustainable and resilient society."
The Prince can claim that he is in good company at the high-level event. Keynote speakers include Bill Clinton, Mark Carney, Governor of the Bank of England and Christine Lagarde, head of the International Monetary Fund.
A statement of its values on the Initiative’s website says: “Inclusive Capitalism is concerned with fixing the elevator of the economist Larry Katz’s famous analogy that portrays the American economy as an apartment block in which the penthouses have increased in size, the middle apartments are more and more squeezed, the basement is flooded, but what “gets people down the most” is that the elevator is broken.”
Financial backers of the conference include Len Blavatnik, the Ukraine-born oligarch, estimated to be the second-richest man in Britain, whose interests extend from oil and gas to the Warner Music group, home of Coldplay and Kylie Minogue.

BRITAIN NEWS AND ALERT's - Page 38 Empty . Islamic Extremism and Syria-Related Threats

Post  Admin Thu 22 May 2014, 5:09 pm

Decapitation, Morality Squads and "Five-Star Jihad"
A Month of Islam in Britain: April 2014
by Soeren Kern
May 20, 2014 at 5:00 am

The number of so-called taxi-rapes has snowballed to such an extent that a British judge recently issued a warning that no woman can expect to be safe while travelling in a cab.
Ibrahim Munir, an exiled senior leader of the Muslim Brotherhood now living in Britain, when asked if violence would be an option, replied, "Any possibility."
"Do I have to change my religion to get the best [banking] deal?" — Lloyds Bank customer, quoted in The Daily Telegraph.
Islam and Islam-related issues were omnipresent in Britain during the month of April 2014, and can be categorized into three broad themes: 1) The British government's growing concern over Islamic extremism and the domestic security implications of British jihadists in Syria; 2) The continuing spread of Islamic Sharia law in all aspects of British daily life; and 3) Ongoing questions of Muslim integration into British society.
1. Islamic Extremism and Syria-Related Threats
British Prime Minister David Cameron announced a "thorough probe" of the Muslim Brotherhood's activities in Britain. At a press conference, he said:
"We want to challenge the extremist narrative that some Islamist organisations have put out. What I think is important about the Muslim Brotherhood is that we understand what this organization is, what it stands for, what its beliefs are in terms of the path of extremism and violent extremism, what its connections are with other groups, what its presence is here in the UK."
The review will be headed by Sir John Jenkins, the British Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. This has led some analysts to surmise that the oil-rich nation—which sees the Muslim Brotherhood as a threat to its own stability—is pressuring Cameron to ban the group from British soil. (Cameron's announcement also came just weeks after Britain finalized a deal for the sale of 72 Eurofighter Typhoon strike jets to Saudi Arabia.) Jenkins has been asked to compile a report on the movement's "philosophy and values and alleged connections with extremism and violence."
The Muslim Brotherhood was banned from Egypt and many members expelled following the coup d'état there in July 2013. The group recently opened a new headquarters above an unused kebab shop in Cricklewood, northwest London.
The most senior leader of the Muslim Brotherhood living in exile in Britain, Ibrahim Munir, denied claims that the group was moving its British operations from London to the Austrian city of Graz. The Daily Mail, a British newspaper, reported on April 12 that the Muslim Brotherhood was preparing to move its headquarters to Austria in an "apparent attempt to avoid an inquiry into its activities set up by the Prime Minister."

Israel, UK Unite on Cyber-Defense

“Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.” (Ecclesiastes 4:9)

Following a Memorandum of Understanding signed by Britain’s Office of Cyber Security and Information Assurance (OCSIA) and the Israeli government in 2013, the two countries have now signed a Letter of Intent to jointly fund cyber research.

A call went out last month from Israel’s National Cyber Bureau (INCB) and Ministry of Science, Technology and Space (MOST), and the UK’s Cabinet Office (CO) and Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) for research proposals in the field of cyber security.  Thursday, Dr. Eviatar Matania, head of INCB, and his British counterpart, James Quinault, Head of OCSIA, signed the Letter of Intent in London.

“Britain is one of the most advanced countries in the world on cyber defense, and we place great importance on promoting and strengthening cooperation with our UK partners,” said Dr. Matania. “We believe that mutual sharing of knowledge will strengthen both countries.”

A press release issued by Israel’s Economics Minister said the fund “will enable Israeli and British researchers to strengthen collaboration and conduct joint projects which will place them at the forefront of global scientific research.”

The fund, which is set at  £1.2 million (over $2 million), will be channeled into research in six key areas: identity management, governance: regulating cyber security, privacy assurance and perceptions, mobile and cloud security, human aspects of security or usable security and cryptography.  These areas were chosen by academics as the fields in which cooperation would be most beneficial.  The goal is to encourage UK and Israeli academics to work together more effectively.

Israel takes a special interest in cyber security, as its sites and servers are disproportionately targeted by hackers worldwide.  Although many of those attacks were thwarted, Israel’s Head of Military Intelligence, Major General Aviv Kohavi, sees the cyber threat as growing and dynamic, one whose impact is not yet fully understood.

Speaking in January at  the seventh annual Security Challenges of the 21st Century conference at Tel Aviv’s Institute for National Security Studies (INSS), Kohavi said, “There are 170,00 rockets and missiles directed at Israel. There are increased threats from the cyber realm along with great additional potential for intelligence in cyber capabilities.”

Israel has not taken the offensive lying down, however, and has created an elite team of its own hackers, under the auspices of the country’s intelligence agency, the Shin Bet.  Last month they successfully launched a counter-offensive against the hacker collective Anonymous, identifying sixteen members, photographing them using their own webcams, and revealing their personal online information.  The information was published via Facebook, along with the message, “Anonymous, next time do not mess with us.”

Hundreds of UK tourists to be evacuated from Kenya following Islamic terror warnings

“UK travel company evacuating hundreds of tourists from Kenya following terror warnings,”
Associated Press,  May 15, 2014

LONDON – A British travel agency says it is evacuating hundreds of tourists from Kenya after Britain’s Foreign Office warned people to leave because of terrorist threats.
Package holiday operator Thomson says it is flying all its customers on holiday in Kenya back to the U.K. Thursday and Friday following updated travel advice from the government. The Foreign Office on Tuesday said all but essential travel to Mombasa island and the surrounding coastal area should be avoided, and that visitors already there should leave.
Thomson said it has about 400 customers in Kenya, including those in Mombasa and on safari.
The company is also cancelling all flights to Mombasa until the end of October.

Disasters Emergency Committee and Oxfam rule out aid for flood victims as UK too rich
BRITAIN’S Disasters Emergency Committee today ruled out any involvement or help with the UK flooding tragedy, saying its remit was purely for “poorer countries overseas”.
It said it would not be broadcasting one of its appeals for donations to families and communities gripped by the crisis in the South and South West because its charitable objectives barred any action.

Only the Red Cross of its 14 members have offered to help, while another Oxfam said Britain was too rich to justify its aid.
Calls have grown for the DEC to intervene in the way it so famously did for foreign earthquake victims, but a spokesman said its hands were tied.
The DEC, which spent £32million last year, is an umbrella group made up of 14 UK charities which help provide clean water, humanitarian aid and medical care.
But only one of its members, the Red Cross, has pitched in to help those hit by the extreme weather the country has experienced.

The charity has set up rest centres and delivered aid to flood hit areas of Britain, but fellow DEC members have said they will not be offering any help to those devastated by the crisis.
Instead they will have to rely on Government cash and insurance payouts.
In a statement, the DEC said: "Storms and flooding in the UK this winter have had a serious impact on a number of communities, causing enormous distress for those whose lives and livelihoods have been affected.
“DEC member British Red Cross has been extremely active in responding to the UK floods up and down the country, alongside the UK authorities which also have significant resources and capacity in this area.
“Most DEC member charities are experts at providing the kind of developmental and humanitarian assistance needed in the world’s poorest countries.
HaiyanOxfam has been helping victims of overseas disasters such as Typhoon Haiyan [REUTERS]
“This is why the DEC’s remit is to launch appeals only following a major disaster in poorer countries rather than in developed nations such as the UK."
The DEC specialises in broadcasting television appeals and co-ordinating the UK response to overseas disasters.
The DEC spokesman added: "We are specifically to help in the world's poorest countries and getting involved in developed countries such as the UK isn't part of our charitable objective.
“The exception to that is the Red Cross, who have the relevant expertise to help in situations such as this, where the needs tend to be quite different."
Other charities that belong to the DEC include Oxfam, CARE International and Christian Aid.

A spokesperson for Oxfam said: “We wouldn't respond to an emergency in the UK.
“It's the sixth richest country in the world and the government has said there is enough money to cope.
"We only intervene in countries were there is no infrastructure or resources and people would die if we didn't go there."
The Red Cross, meanwhile, has been helping with rest centres, evacuations, emergency supplies and providing vehicles in Somerset, and the Thames Valley, where it helped rescue three elderly victims in Wraysbury yesterday.
The charity’s staff and volunteers have also been working in Kent and Sussex, London, and Wiltshire and Gloucestershire.

CHRISTIAN CONCERNS
Call to prayer for nation in storm and flood
Bishop Michael
Nazir-Ali
Storms hit the South West of
England An urgent call to prayer in Churches and homes across Britain has been made by Bishop Michael Nazir-Ali ahead of extreme weather warnings for the coming weekend.

“I am calling on our churches and Christian people to pray for our nation at this time of crisis and to ask God for protection for those most exposed to danger and destruction from severe flooding, torrential rain and high winds which have left great devastation in their wake, particularly in the west of England, Wales and coastal areas of the United Kingdom,” says the Bishop.

He asks for prayer in particular for:
Those bereaved, injured and turned out of their homes
People whose businesses have been damaged
Those whose job it is to protect the vulnerable – the army, police, fire service, ambulance crews, utility workers and public authorities
“We must ask God for protection from the menace of further storms forecast for this weekend;  for protection from disease for people in the front line of devastating weather conditions; and for protection for our livestock, crops and the environment in general.  We must ask God to forgive us if we have in any way mistreated or neglected the land, the waterways, the environment generally and the common good," he said.

The Met Office has issued severe weather warnings for the flood-stricken south-west of England, for London, the south-east and Wales, predicting torrential rain and winds of up to 80mph tonight (Friday 7 February)and tomorrow, which could cause another wave of power cuts and topple trees as well as causing inland and coastal flooding.

Bishop Michael urges churches to make the casualties of extreme weather the focus of their prayers this weekend.

Lord Carey warns Church of England not to "dance to the world's agenda"
The former Archbishop of Canterbury, Lord Carey, has warned that the Church of England risks a break-up if it attempts to follow political fashions on issues such as same-sex 'marriage'.
Speaking at Chester Cathedral, Lord Carey said that the Church should not allow itself to fracture under the burden of "dancing to the world’s agenda", adding that the apathy shown by the Government to Christians was sometimes "worse than persecution".
The warning comes as the College of Bishops prepares to meet on Monday (27th January) to discuss the proposals of the Pilling Report to allow the CofE to informally bless same-sex relationships.

Urge the Bishops to stand up for marriage

Sir Joseph Pilling  This weekend provides an opportunity to contact the Bishops expressing opposition to the proposals in the Pilling Report which recommends recognition of same-sex relationships by the Church of England.

The College of Bishops meets on Monday (27th January) to give serious consideration to the Pilling Report's proposals.
The Report suggests that while the CofE should not change its official teaching on marriage and sexuality, it should enter into a period of “facilitated conversions” to allow local clergy to offer informal blessings of same sex partnerships, using unauthorised liturgies.
However, to allow informal blessings of same-sex relationships, while claiming that the church’s teaching has not changed, would, in practice and in fact, change the church’s traditional teaching.
Please write to the Bishops before Monday, urging them to affirm the Bible’s clear teaching on marriage and sexuality and to give courageous leadership which is faithful to Scripture.
Concerns about the Pilling recommendations which you may wish to make are:
The report as a whole appeals to the secular world-view by seeking to accommodate same-sex relationships.
The liberal view of Scripture adopted by the Report is hugely concerning as it wrongly claims that Scripture does not offer conclusive teaching on the issue of homosexual practice.
Despite claiming that Scripture and theology are unclear on the rightness of homosexual practice, the report urges the church to go ahead and bless such practice, as long as the relationships are ‘permanent, faithful and stable’.
The Bible offers clear teaching on how humans are best able to flourish and we appeal to our Bishops to reinforce the commitment to biblical teaching.
Permitting church services to bless same sex unions using unofficial liturgies would be a direct denial of the authority and teachings of the Bible, and would result in serious division, distress and acrimony within the Church.
Allowing clergy to offer an informal blessing, and claiming that this does not change traditional Anglican teaching, is a confusing distinction and appears contradictory to the wide Christian community and beyond.
True pastoral care in the case of those experiencing same-sex attraction is to help them live Christianly and it is wrong to separate teaching and practice.
Please also ask the Bishops to support the strong dissent to the Report issued by the Bishop of Birkenhead, which you can read here >

Please sign petition asking MEPs to vote against pro-gay agenda
On February 3rd, the European Parliament will vote on a crucial report by Austrian MEP Ulrike Lunacek known as the “EU Roadmap against homophobia and discrimination on grounds of sexual orientation and gender identity.”
The report calls on EU Member States that have not redefined marriage to recognise same sex 'marriages' that have been contracted in other states.
Furthermore, under the guise of fighting hate speech and hate crime, it requires Member States to offer the LGBT community unrestricted freedom of speech, whilst offering no similar protections for those who do not fall within this category. As such, the proposals would effectively silence those who express any opposition to homosexual practice.
Please sign the petition by Citizen Go, calling on Members of the European Parliament to reject the proposals put forward by Lunacek Report.
Having already attained 12,700 signatures, Citizen Go is aiming to get a total of 20,000 signatures in the next week.  You can help them to achieve their target by signing the petition now.
All responses will go to MEP coalition leaders, and it is reported that the proposals have already attracted negative publicity for the European Parliament.

Further Action: Opportunity under Canon Law to challenge Wells Cathedral showing blasphemous film

Thank you to those who have expressed their dismay at the decision by the Dean of Wells Cathedral to permit the screening of the Martin Scorsese film, ‘The Last Temptation of Christ’, this coming Saturday.

If you are an Anglican member of the diocese of Bath and Wells please consider challenging the decision by pointing out that Canon Law prohibits the House of God being used to show profane material.
If, however, you are a concerned Christian outside the Anglican church, please also make your views known.
The Cathedral plans to show the film on Saturday (7.30pm, 25 January) as part of the Bath Film Festival, so action is required quickly.

Please contact the Bishop’s office, the Chancellor of the Diocese and Lambeth Palace (see contact details below) to say that the decision to show the film is challengeable under Canon Law and quote the following articles of the law:

Canon F15 (Of Churches not to be profaned)
1.    The churchwardens and their assistants shall not suffer the church or chapel to be profaned by any meeting therein for temporal objects inconsistent with the sanctity of the place...

Canon F 16 (Of plays, concerts, and exhibitions of films and pictures in churches)
1.    When any church or chapel is to be used for a play, concert, or exhibition of films or pictures, the minister shall take care that the words, music and pictures are such as befit the House of God, are consonant with sound doctrine, and make for the edifying of the people.

In addition you can also indicate to the Bishop’s Office that a complaint may be made against the Dean of Wells Cathedral, the Very Revd John Clarke, under the Clergy Discipline Measure, for "conduct unbecoming a clerk in holy orders" because of actions permitting profane material such as this film to be shown.
Contact details:
The Bishop's Office:  Please note that although the See is vacant at present the diocesan website suggests making contact by either: writing to the Bishops' Office, The Bishop's Palace, Wells, Somerset BA5 2PD, phoning 01749 672341 or emailing the Bishop of Taunton: bishop.taunton@bathwells.anglican.org

The Chancellor of the Diocese: The Worshipful Timothy Briden at timothybriden@lambchambers.co.uk
Lambeth Palace: Revd Dr Malcolm Brown, Director of Mission and Public Affairs at malcolm.brown@c-of-e.org.uk

A number of supporters have contacted us to say the response from the Cathedral to their complaints about the film, has been wholly unsatisfactory. Read the statement from the Dean’s office here:

“The Dean of Wells thanks you for your message of concern. Please find below a statement from the Cathedral.

The cathedral considers bookings from a range of organisations for the use of its space and late last year the Chapter agreed to let the Bath Film Festival use the cathedral to screen the ‘Last Temptation of Christ’ on Saturday 25th January 2014.  The screening is being arranged as a companion event to the Bath Film Festival’s recent showing of the silent film THE PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC in another of the West Country’s most magnificent places of worship: Bath Abbey.
The film is an adaptation of the novel by the well-known Cretan author Nikos Kazantzakis. In the past the film has caused some controversy. However, it raised important theological questions about the nature of temptation and vocation, and in particular the temptations that Jesus faced.   The climax of the film is the realisation by Jesus that the desire to escape the cross and have a 'normal' married life is a temptation from Satan.
Much has changed in public perceptions of faith over the last 25 years. In this more sceptical age the church should not hide from controversy and part of the task of the cathedral is to promote an intelligent faith that is capable of attracting men and women to follow in the way of Jesus in the twenty first century.
With this in mind we are organising a discussion before the screening which will look at the theology behind the book and film and which will also consider what is not said by the film. On the evening, in my welcome and introduction, I will also suggest that the film offers, inevitably, a partial view of who Jesus was. It is not designed to be a biography. My hope therefore is that an audience who do not normally think about Jesus will spend time thinking about his significance for us today.
Equally, on the day after the screening I will be giving a talk on ‘Jesus’ as part of a series in the cathedral called ‘What can we believe today?’. This will provide another chance to invite people to deepen their questioning about faith, both for those who wish to think about faith and theology afresh, and for those who are in the process of exploring their approach to God. This particular session will run in the Education Room of Wells Cathedral on Sunday 26th January from 4.30pm.”

The Islamization Of Britain In 2013
http://www.gatestoneinstitute.org
The Muslim population of Britain topped 3.3 million by the end of 2013 to become around 5.2% of the overall population of 63 million, according to figures extrapolated from a recent study on the growth of the Muslim population in Europe.

At the same time, opinion surveys consistently show that voters in Britain view Islam and the question of Muslim immigration as a top-ranked public concern. The British public, it seems, is increasingly worried about the establishment of a parallel Muslim society there.
But government efforts to push back against the Islamization of Britain have been halting and half-hearted.
What follows is a chronological review of some of the main stories involving the rise of Islam in Britain during 2013.
In January, Muslim gangs were filmed loitering on streets in London and demanding that passersby conform to Islamic Sharia law. In a series of videos, the self-proclaimed vigilantes—who call themselves Muslim London Patrol—are seen abusing non-Muslim pedestrians and repeatedly shouting "this is a Muslim area."
One video records the men shouting: "Allah is the greatest! Islam is here, whether you like it or not. We are here! We are here! What we need is Islam! What we need is Sharia!"
The video continues: "We are the Muslim Patrol. We are in north London, we are in south London, in east London and west London. We command good and forbid evil. Islam is here in London. [Prime Minister] David Cameron, Mr. Police Officer, whether you like it or not, we will command good and forbid evil. You will never get us. You can go to hell! This is not a Christian country. To hell with Christianity. Isa [Jesus] was a messenger of Allah. Muslim Patrol will never die. Allah is great! Allah is great! We are coming!"
In a January 23 interview with the online newspaper International Business Times, Anjem Choudary, a radical preacher who has long called for Sharia law to be implemented in Britain and other European countries, defended the gang, saying: "This is a wake-up call for society to ask, 'where are we headed?' There is a clash between Islam and liberal democracy in hotspot areas of London."
Choudary has previously led a campaign, known as the Islamic Emirates Project, to turn twelve British cities—including what he calls "Londonistan"—into independent Islamic states. The so-called Islamic Emirates would function as autonomous enclaves, ruled by Sharia law and governed entirely outside British jurisprudence.
In February, Choudary was filmed urging his followers to quit their jobs and claim unemployment benefits so they have more time to plan holy war against non-Muslims.
Excerpts of the speech, published by the London-based newspaper The Sun on February 17, drew renewed attention to the growing problem of Muslims in Britain and elsewhere who are exploiting European welfare systems.
In the video, Choudary is recorded as saying that Muslims are justified in taking money from non-Muslims, whom he mocks for working in nine-to-five jobs their whole lives. He says: "You find people are busy working the whole of their life. They wake up at 7 o'clock. They go to work at 9 o'clock. They work for eight, nine hours a day. They come home at 7 o'clock, watch EastEnders [a British soap opera], sleep, and they do that for 40 years of their life. That is called slavery. ... What kind of life is that? That is the life of the kuffar [a non-Muslim]."
Choudary urges fellow Muslims to learn from revered figures in Islamic history who only worked one or two days a year. "The rest of the year they were busy with jihad [holy war] and things like that," he says. "People will say, 'Ah, but you are not working.' But the normal situation is for you to take money from the kuffar. So we take Jihad Seeker's Allowance."
Also in February, a judge in London acquitted two brothers from Pakistan who swapped houses in an effort to defraud British taxpayers out of £315,000 ($520,000). The Pakistani couples, who have 11 children between them, submitted bogus tenancy agreements for 16 years so that the women could pretend to be tenants and claim housing benefits.
Judge Neil Sanders ruled: "The two men dishonestly represented through their wives to the London Borough of Redbridge that this was a genuine rental arrangement." Nevertheless, Sanders allowed the men to walk free. "You have both worked hard in terms of making a life for yourselves and in many ways the greatest punishment is the loss of your good name," Sanders said.
In March, the London-based newspaper The Independent reported that at least 100 British Muslims are currently active as jihadists fighting in Syria, which has replaced Afghanistan, Pakistan and Somalia as the main destination for militant Islamists seeking to obtain immediate combat experience with little or no official scrutiny.
Also in March, St. John's Episcopal Church in Aberdeen, Scotland, became the first church in the United Kingdom to share its premises with Muslim worshippers. Church officials now welcome hundreds of Muslims praying five times a day in their building because the nearby mosque is filled to overcapacity and Muslim worshippers are forced to pray outside.
According to the rector of St. John's, Isaac Poobalan, "Praying is never wrong. My job is to encourage people to pray. The mosque was so full at times, there would be people outside in the wind and rain praying. I knew I couldn't just let this happen, because I would be abandoning what the Bible teaches us about how we should treat our neighbors."
The bishop of Aberdeen, Robert Gillies, says that by handing over sections of the church to the mosque, the church has accomplished "something of global significance on a local scale."
In April, a documentary secretly filmed inside several of the 85 Islamic Sharia Law courts operating in Britain exposed the systematic discrimination that many women are suffering at the hands of Muslim jurists.
The documentary, Secrets of Britain's Sharia Courts, was filmed by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) and was first aired on BBC Panorama, a long-running current affairs program, on April 8.
The undercover investigation proves what has long been suspected: namely, that Sharia courts, which operate in mosques and houses across Britain, routinely issue rulings on domestic and marital issues according to Islamic Sharia law that are at odds with British law. Although Sharia rulings are not legally binding, those subject to the rulings often feel obliged to obey them as a matter of religious belief, or because of pressure from family and community members to do so.
The documentary contends that the Sharia courts, run by Muslim judges known as qadi, are putting women at risk of violence from abusive husbands by pressuring them to stay in abusive marriages.
The documentary was partially filmed at the Leyton Sharia Council, which openly states on its website that it is preparing for the full recognition of Islamic Sharia law in Britain.
Also in April, British authorities promised to redouble their fight against the spiraling problem of female genital mutilation (FGM) after a weekly primetime television show broadcast by the BBC forced the previously "taboo" subject into mainstream debate.
BBC One's Casualty, a popular emergency medical drama series, became the first mainstream drama on British television to feature a story about FGM. Scriptwriters on the series worked with FGM pressure groups and young girls to produce the two-part drama, which aired on April 6 and 13.
Britain has the highest levels of FGM in Europe. According to a government-funded study published in 2007, at least 66,000 women and girls in Britain have had the procedure performed on them, and more than 20,000 girls under the age of 15 are currently at risk.
These figures, however, may be only the tip of the iceberg. A 2011 Department of Health policy paper warns that "it is possible that, due to population growth and immigration from practicing countries…FGM is significantly more prevalent than these figures suggest."
On April 29, Scotland Yard [London Police] appealed for information to identify the perpetrators of FGM amid growing indications that girls in the capital are being "cut."
But the government's commitment to fighting FGM remains to be seen. A major reason for Britain's dismal record at bringing perpetrators to justice is tolerance of FGM due to political correctness and concerns over "cultural sensitivity," according to many analysts.
Although the mainstream media in Britain and elsewhere routinely take pains to avoid any insinuation that FGM has anything to do with Islam, doctrinally, historically, geographically and juridically, the practice is intrinsically linked to Islam. Critics of FGM say there is a reluctance to tackle the problem because doing so is perceived as attacking Islam.
In May, new census data published by the British government showed that Islam is set to become the dominant religion in Britain within the next generation.
The report, published by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) on May 16, shows that although Christianity is still the main religion in Britain—over 50% of the population describe themselves as such—nearly half of all Christians in Britain are over the age of 50, and, for the first time ever, fewer than half under the age of 25 describe themselves as Christian.
By contrast, the number of people under 25 who describe themselves as Muslim has doubled over the past ten years: one in ten under the age of 25 are Muslim, up from one in 20 in 2001.
If current trends continue—a Muslim population boom, combined with an aging Christian demographic and the increasing secularization of British natives—Islam is set to overtake Christianity in Britain within the next 20 years, according to demographers.
Also in May, a BBC documentary called "Married for a Minute" reported that an increasing number of Muslims in Britain are reviving the Islamic practice of temporary marriage.
Temporary marriage—a euphemism for religiously sanctioned prostitution—is an Islamic custom that unites a man and an unmarried woman as "husband and wife" for a limited period of time (sometimes for less than half an hour).
The proliferation of temporary marriages—combined with the spike in polygamous marriages— shows how Muslims in Britain are using Islamic Sharia law with impunity to establish parallel forms of "marriage" that are otherwise illegal for non-Muslims in the country.
Because of the informal nature of temporary marriage, there are no official statistics to show how many of these unions there are in Britain. But Islamic scholars interviewed by the BBC say the practice is widespread, and anecdotal evidence suggests it is especially popular among the younger generation of Muslims in England and Wales.
In June, the Central Criminal Court of England and Wales (aka the Old Bailey) sentenced seven members of a Muslim child grooming gang based in Oxford to at least 95 years in prison for raping, torturing and trafficking British girls as young as 11.
The high-profile trial, which ended on June 27, was the latest in a rapidly growing list of grooming cases that are forcing politically correct Britons to confront the previously taboo subject of endemic sexual abuse of children by predatory Muslim paedophile gangs.
The 18-week trial drew unwelcome attention to the sordid reality that police, social workers, teachers, neighbors, politicians and the media have for decades downplayed the severity of the crimes perpetrated against British children because they were afraid of being accused of "Islamophobia" or racism.
According to government estimates that are believed to be "just the tip of the iceberg," at least 2,500 British children have so far been confirmed to be victims of grooming gangs, and another 20,000 children are at risk of sexual exploitation. At least 27 police forces are currently investigating 54 alleged child grooming gangs across England and Wales.
Also in June, a Muslim cab driver named Mohamed Hacene-Chaouch was jailed for seven years and three months after being found guilty of raping a female passenger in his unlicensed taxi. Hacene-Chaouch—an Algerian married father of five—assaulted the woman after she got lost in Soho, central London.
The case drew public attention to a wave of sex crimes involving predatory Muslim taxi drivers who are raping female passengers. The number of so-called taxi rapes is snowballing to such an extent that a British judge has issued a warning that no woman can expect to be safe while traveling in a cab.
Reliable statistics on taxi rapes nationwide are difficult to obtain, and Freedom of Information requests seeking accurate data on cab-related sexual assaults are routinely denied (here and here).
However, a much acclaimed report produced by the London Metropolitan Police Service estimates that on average there are a total of 1,125 sexual assaults, including rapes, each year involving taxi drivers just in London; this works out to approximately 22 sexual assaults against women by taxi drivers each week in the capital city of England alone.
Meanwhile, Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller—two well-known counter-jihad activists who are opposed to the spread of Sharia law in the West—were banned from Britain under the so-called Unacceptable Behavior policy, following a personal intervention from Home Secretary Theresa May.
In a letter posted on the Internet, May writes: "The Home Secretary will seek to exclude an individual if she considers that his or her presence in the UK is not conducive to the public good. We condemn all those whose behaviors and views run counter to our shared values and will not stand for extremism in any form."
It later emerged that the main reason why Spencer and Geller were banned from Britain was because of their strong support for Israel.
At the same time, the British government had no problems with allowing the Saudi Sheikh Adel al-Kalbani—who says all Jews and Christians should be removed from the Arabian Peninsula—to embark upon a speaking tour of Britain.
Britain also allowed into the country another Saudi hate preacher, Mohammed al-Arefe, who has said: "Devotion to jihad for the sake of Allah, and the desire to shed blood, to smash skulls, and to sever limbs for the sake of Allah and in defense of His religion, is, undoubtedly, an honor for the believer. Allah said that if a man fights the infidels, the infidels will be unable to prepare to fight."
In July, a House of Commons research report entitled "Prison Population Statistics" showed that the number of Muslim inmates in England and Wales jumped to 11,248 in 2012, up from 3,681 in 1997. It was the first time that the number of Muslim convicts in British prisons has surpassed the 11,000 mark. Stated another way, the number of Muslims in British prisons has jumped by more than 200% over the past 15 years.
The rate of increase of Muslim inmates in British prisons is eight times faster than that of the overall prison population, and the numbers show a clear overrepresentation of Muslim convicts: Muslims, who make up roughly 5% of the British population as a whole, now make up 13% of the British prison population (compared to just 6% in 1997).
The growth in the number of Muslim inmates has fueled fears that British prisons are becoming hotbeds for Islamic radicalization.
Although most of the Muslims in British prisons are immigrants from Asia, the Middle East and North Africa, an increasing number of Muslim inmates are converts to Islam.
Writing in the July 2013 issue of the prisoner's magazine, Inside Time, a "long serving prisoner" at the Long Lartin Prison in Worcestershire has this to say: "We are able to cook our own food here but if we attempt to cook pork in the communal kitchen it is deemed dangerous, even a threat to your life. The kitchen is usually occupied by 90% Muslims and we have been told if we cook pork we will be stabbed. There have been incidents here where people have been targeted and pressured and bullied into converting to Islam."
He adds: "I am writing to inform people of these radical extremists views in this prison where I see no official steps being taken to combat them. Young Muslim men are being radicalized in here and one day they may commit acts of terrorism in this country. There seems to be nothing being done here to stop it and people are scared to speak out. I hope we get some feedback from this; it needs to be sorted out."
In August, an Islamic television channel based in Birmingham was hit with a hefty fine after a Muslim hate preacher told viewers—live on air—that it was the duty of all Muslims to murder anyone who shows disrespect for the Prophet Mohammed.
Noor TV, a Satellite Television Channel that broadcasts programs about Islam throughout Europe, was fined £85,000 ($115,000) by the British broadcasting regulator known as Ofcom for inciting people to commit murder.
Ofcom said the fine imposed on August 21 was so large due to "the serious nature of the breaches of the Broadcasting Code." It said young Muslims watching Noor TV could become "radicalized" and take "violent and criminal action as a result of watching videos of Muslims with extreme views."
In a separate case, Ofcom ordered DM Digital Television to pay a fine of £85,000 ($115,000) after it broadcast a speech by an Islamic scholar who said Muslims had "a duty to kill" anyone who insulted the Prophet Mohammed.
The Manchester-based channel—which claims it has a worldwide audience of 30 million—describes itself as bringing "Asian and English cultures closer" by integrating its people, the cultural diversity, communities and the economy.
In its ruling, Ofcom cited a program called Rehmatul Lil Alameen [Mercy unto the Worlds] which featured a live lecture it said was "likely to encourage or incite the commission of crime or to lead to disorder."
Ofcom stated that some of the comments on the program could be seen as "a generic call to all Muslims encouraging or inciting them to criminal action or disorder, by unambiguously stating that they had a duty to kill anyone who criticizes or insults the Prophet Mohammed and apostates."
In September, the Birmingham Metropolitan College reversed a ban on Islamic veils after furious Muslim students complained of discrimination, and launched an online petition drive that gathered more than 8,000 signatures in just two days.
The college backed away from its ban on September 12, just hours before a mass demonstration by hundreds of Muslim students threatened to disrupt the normal functioning of the college.
The controversy began on September 9, the first day of the autumn term, when the college announced that students and employees would be ordered to remove any face coverings so that individuals are "easily identifiable at all times."
The college's ban on face-covering niqabs or the body-covering burqas—as well as caps, hoodies and other types of head covering—was billed as a security measure.
Tory MP for Kettering Philip Hollobone told the British newspaper The Independent that the college's reversal was a shameful disgrace and argued for the urgent need for legislation to ban the niqab in all public spaces.
"People are frightened of standing up and speaking out in this discussion because of political correctness and the intolerant reaction from Muslim groups who jump up and down with fury whenever anyone says that it makes sense for people to go around with their faces perfectly visible to everyone else, which is the way human beings were created in the first place," Hollobone said.
Hollobone presented a bill in the British Parliament on September 6 that would make it illegal to wear clothing obscuring the face in public; the bill will be considered on February 28, 2014.
In a live debate entitled "Should Britain Ban the Veil?" and aired on BBC Radio 5 on September 6, Hollobone said, "Society can't function if people go around with facial coverings. If we all covered our faces the world would be a very different place. Imagine Parliament where everyone had their face covered. It makes it very difficult for the police to identify troublemakers. I am sad that legislation may be necessary to address this problem. It's basic common sense to most people. It would ultimately lead to the breakdown of our society."
Hollobone denied that his proposal amounted to an attack on Islam: "We have to be quite clear—the burka isn't religious clothing. It's a choice."
Also in September, a taxpayer-funded Muslim school in England inflamed public anger after it emerged that the institution was operating according to Islamic Sharia law.
Islamic fundamentalists running the Al-Madinah School in Derby, an industrial city in central England, had ordered all female teachers—including those who are not Muslim—to cover their heads and shoulders with a hijab, an Islamic scarf.
In addition to the strict dress code, pupils were banned from singing songs, playing musical instruments, or reading fairy tales, activities deemed to be "un-Islamic," according to non-Muslim staff members at the school.
Critics say the school—which originally marketed itself as an "inter-faith" school in order to qualify for taxpayer monies—promised that at least 50% of its students would be non-Muslim. But after it obtained £1.4 million (€1.7 million; $2.25 million) in government financing, the administrators of Al-Madinah were accused of switching gears by operating the school according to Islamic law, apparently to ensure that the school will eventually be 100% Muslim.
Also in September, the British Department of Education revealed that it is recruiting former agents of the British secret service (MI5) to investigate the alleged infiltration of British schools by Islamic extremists.
The agents will form part of a new counter-extremism unit, established to investigate schools in which radical activity has been suspected. Speaking to the Sunday Times on September 29, Education Secretary Michael Gove said some schools are being "taken over" by Muslim hardliners in the hope of radicalizing pupils and staff. He also said he was determined to "weed out" schools whose practices do not conform to British values.
A survey published by the BBC on September 25 revealed that more than a quarter of young British people distrust Muslims and feel Britain would be better off if there were fewer of them in the country. Of the 1,000 young people questioned in the survey conducted by ComRes, a leading market research agency, 27% of 18-to-24-year-olds said they did not trust Muslims, while 28% said Britain would be better off with fewer Muslims. It also emerged that 60% thought the British public had a negative image of Muslims, and 44% said Muslims do not have the same values as the rest of the population.
A separate survey published by Lord Ashcroft Polls on September 1, showed that six in ten Britons thought immigration had produced more disadvantages than advantages for their country; only 17% thought the pros outweighed the cons. The biggest concerns were about migrants claiming benefits or using public services without having contributed in return.
In London, a judge on September 16 ordered a Muslim defendant to take off her full-face veil to give evidence in court. But—in a case that made legal history—he said the woman could retain the veil for all other parts of her trial.
Judge Peter Murphy said the court should recognize "freedom of religious expression," but that allowing her to retain the niqab during her evidence, as she wanted, would "drive a coach and horses through justice administered in England and Wales for centuries." Murphy said he hoped that "Parliament or a higher court will provide a definite answer to the issue soon" to avoid "judicial anarchy."
Also in September, the British Ministry of Justice confirmed that a total of 186 Muslim inmates at three different prisons are suing the British government, claiming their human rights were violated after tests confirmed that halal food being served to them contained pork meat.
The legal cases are being brought by the prisoners under Article 9 of the European Convention on Human Rights, which affords the right to the freedom of thought, conscience and religion.
In October, more than a dozen Muslim clerics at some of the biggest mosques in Britain were caught on camera agreeing to marry off girls as young as 14.
Undercover reporters filming a documentary about the prevalence of forced and underage marriage in Britain for the television program ITV Exposure secretly recorded 18 Muslim imams agreeing to perform an Islamic marriage, known as a nikah, between a 14-year-old girl and an older man.
Although the legal age for marriage in Britain is 16, according to Sharia law girls can marry once they reach puberty. The imams who agreed to marry the girl openly mocked the legitimacy of British law, reflecting the rise of a parallel Islamic legal system in Britain.
One of the Muslim clerics who agreed to perform the underage marriage is Mohammed Shahid Akhtar, the imam of the Central Jamia Masjid Ghamkol Sharif Mosque in Birmingham, the second-largest mosque in Britain with a capacity of more than 5,000 worshippers.
On being informed that the girl did not want to get married, Akhtar replied: "She's 14. By Sharia, grace of Allah, she's legal to get married. Obviously Islam has made it easy for us. There is nothing against that. We're doing it because it's okay through Islam."
The documentary also shows Akhtar expressing his contempt for British marriage laws: "You've got the kuffars [non-believers], the law, the English people that ... you know, you can't get married twice but, by the grace of Allah, we can get married four times."
Meanwhile, British taxpayers were left to pay a legal bill of £350,000 (€410,000; $566,000) after Muslim parents went to court to win the right to shave the pubic hair of their disabled daughter.
The mother and father of the young woman, who is referred to as "ED" in court documents, said their daughter's pubic hair should be removed according to Islamic tradition. But their local council, which has cared for the disabled woman since 2008, questioned whether she had the mental capacity to consent to her hair being removed.
After more than two years of legal fights, the Muslim couple abruptly dropped the case on October 22, after a "cultural expert" concluded that "whilst there was a duty to remove pubic hair, both for religious and cultural reasons, there is an exemption for those incapacitated such as ED."
The local authority involved had incurred costs of £138,000, the couple of £82,000 and the official attorney, appearing for ED, of £130,000, with taxpayers footing the entire bill.
"This is an astonishing sum of money," a judge at London's High Court, Justice Roderic Wood, told the Daily Telegraph newspaper. "I thus remain utterly baffled by the course this litigation has taken, and perplexed by this lack of clarity in their case. Obtaining a 10-day slot of a High Court Judge's time is not easy, for there are many competing cases of equal if not greater urgency than this one."
In lead up a final hearing, which had been scheduled for late October, "a great morass" of evidence was prepared, including 740 pages of witness statements, 300 pages of expert evidence as well as other documents, the judge said.
Also in October, the London Stock Exchange said it would be launching a new Islamic bond index in an effort to establish the City of London as one of the world's leading centers of Islamic finance.
Britain also plans to become the first non-Muslim country to issue sovereign Islamic bonds, known as sukuk, beginning as early as 2014.
British Prime Minister David Cameron announced the plans during a keynote speech at the ninth World Islamic Economic Forum, which was held in London from October 29-31, the first time the event has ever been held outside the Muslim world.
"Already London is the biggest center for Islamic finance outside the Islamic world," Cameron told the audience of more than 1,800 international political and business leaders from over 115 countries.
"And today our ambition is to go further still. Because I don't just want London to be a great capital of Islamic finance in the Western world, I want London to stand alongside Dubai and Kuala Lumpur as one of the great capitals of Islamic finance anywhere in the world."
The plans are all part of the British government's strategy to acquire as big a slice as possible of the fast-growing global market of Islamic finance, which operates according to Islamic Sharia law and is growing 50% faster than the conventional banking sector.
In Scotland, meanwhile, the largest-ever immunization program was halted on October 2 after Muslim parents complained that the so-called Fluenz vaccine contained pork gelatin. The roll-out of the flu vaccine in Glasgow was postponed after parents at Glendale Primary in Pollokshields—which has a large number of Muslim pupils who cannot consume pig products for religious reasons—became aware of the ingredients and complained.
The National Health Service of Greater Glasgow and Clyde, an area that contains the overwhelming majority of the Muslims in Scotland, said that 100 Islamic scholars had agreed that pork gelatin was permissible within a vaccine, but it had postponed the vaccinations anyway "following concerns raised by a small number of parents."
A similar vaccination program in Leicestershire, England, was halted in September after the same flu vaccine was deemed to be "insensitive" to Muslims.
In November it emerged that Choukri Ellekhlifi, a British man who was killed fighting alongside al Qaeda-linked extremists in Syria, funded his trip by mugging people in an affluent area of London.
Ellekhlifi threatened victims with a Taser-style high-voltage stun gun and forced them to hand over valuables including designer watches and mobile phones.
He lived in London until a year ago when he skipped bail and travelled to Syria to join a group of Islamic extremists waging war on the Assad regime. He was one of three British men killed as their group attacked pro-government forces near the city of Aleppo on August 11. The trio were part of a group of ten British jihadists who joined up with 20 other Britons to fight with the Al-Nusra Front, allied to Al-Qaeda.
Separately, Ifthekar Jaman, a 23-year-old jihadist from Southsea, Hampshire, told Richard Watson—the host of the BBC's flagship daily news and current affairs program called Newsnight—that he traveled to Syria to fight with the Al-Qaida-linked ISIS (Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant). Jaman said he supported the principle of jihad before he left Britain. He told the BBC:
I was already a jihadi [while in the UK] I understood I was on the jihadi path. Where it all began? It began from the book [the Koran]. And I read this and in there you see what jihad is about. I used to be scared of the word jihad. I once went to my sister when I was young I said to her, I saw it in the book and it said fighting.
And my sister said to me jihad means what you have in your heart, what you did in your heart. This is what I was taught. It wasn't taught to me that Islam is peace and there's no fighting. It is peace but it requires fighting. The duty of a Muslim is to love jihad. One of the sayings of the prophet peace be upon him whoever does not go jihad or doesn't even talk about it dies with the characteristic of hypocrisy. I am actually a Muslim following the way I should be.
Also in November, the head of MI5 (British domestic intelligence), Andrew Parker, told the British Parliament's Intelligence and Security Committee that there are thousands of people living in Britain today who support al Qaida; and the head of MI6 (British foreign intelligence), Sir John Sawers, warned that the threat of terrorist attacks against Britain is increasing. Parker said that British intelligence had foiled 34 terrorist plots since the July 7 London bombings in 2005.
In December, two Islamists, Michael Adebolajo and Michael Adebowale, were found guilty of the murder of British soldier Lee Rigby outside the Woolwich Barracks in southeast London on May 22, 2013. The crime shocked the country and has drawn nationwide attention to the rise of radical Islam in Britain.
Adebolajo, 28, and Adebowale, 22, were each accused of attacking the 25-year-old Rigby by running him over from behind with a car and then attempting to decapitate his motionless body with a meat cleaver and kitchen knives.
Both men were born in Britain and raised as Christians before converting to Islam as teenagers.
During the trial, Adebolajo said there was an ongoing "war between the Muslims and the British people" and that he was a "soldier of Allah."
Assistant London Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick, the most senior counter-terrorism officer in Britain, told the newspaper The Telegraph that British soldiers are at risk from "thousands" of lone-wolf terrorists who hold to a "perverted ideology" like the home-grown fanatics who murdered Rigby. She said the threat could never be eliminated.
Meanwhile, three Muslim men were sentenced at the Old Bailey on December 6 for confronting and abusing non-Muslims in London in January 2013. The three—who called themselves the Muslim Patrol—confronted, physically assaulted, and verbally abused members of the public whose behavior was in violation of Sharia law. They then posted the videos of their actions on YouTube.
Also in December, Marks & Spencer, the biggest clothing retailer in Britain, backed down after facing a boycott from thousands of angry customers who were furious at the store's decision to allow Muslim staff to refuse to serve customers buying alcohol or pork products during the Christmas shopping season.
The policy was revealed after customers trying to buy pork or alcohol from a Muslim cashier at an M&S store in central London were told that because of her religion, they would have to use another checkout lane.
Critics of M&S's policy of accommodation said it was just another example of how British law and practice is giving way to Islamic Sharia law and practice.

Tomorrow's Bus Ads Case - Why It Matters
The proposed Core Issues
advert allowed by TfL (below).
Tomorrow the Court of Appeal will hear the case of Christian charity Core Issues Trust vs Transport for London. It concerns the banning of Advertisements that were due to run on London buses in April 2012.

This case has big implications for freedom of speech and for important issues affecting gospel witness in our nation. We’ve sent you this email to highlight why the case is so important and ask you to pray.

Background
In April 2012, Transport for London (TfL) banned posters issued by Christian charity Core Issues Trust intended for display on London buses. Part of the case revolves around the role of London Mayor, Boris Johnson, whose re-election campaign was in full swing at the time. It is important to note that:
The adverts didn't appear out of the blue. They were created in response to the adverts of homosexual campaign group Stonewall, which TfL did allow to be put on London buses. Stonewall’s ads read: “Some people are gay. Get over it!”. The Core Issues ads read: “Not gay! Ex-gay, post-gay and proud. Get over it!” and were presented in the same style as the Stonewall Ads to make clear that they were a response.
The adverts highlighted that there are people in society who do not want to embrace a 'gay identity' despite having feelings of same sex attraction in the present and / or past. Some media outlets mistakenly reported that the posters were advertising ‘gay cure’ therapy.

Why we’ve taken this case on

We’ve provided Core Issues Trust with help and advice since the time that its adverts were banned by TfL. We’ve done this because we consider this case to be extremely important for four main reasons.

1. Freedom of speech
When it comes to public debate, there should be a level playing field. Different viewpoints should be allowed. If Stonewall’s message can be displayed on buses, why shouldn’t Core Issues Trust’s be allowed? The adverts highlighted a group that is rarely allowed a voice in mainstream debate since the existence of that group is 'inconvenient' for certain other agendas.
A society’s commitment to freedom of speech is often tested at the point where some people find a viewpoint contentious or uncomfortable. This case is a test of our society’s commitment to free speech.
2. Legitimacy of resisting 'gay identity'
It suits some groups in society to reinforce the suggestion that sexual attraction is fixed at birth and can’t be changed. But the truth about human sexuality is not as simplistic or uniform as some groups make out.
Real people will suffer unnecessary hurt and struggle if the debate is one-sided and their voices are silenced. Those rejecting a ‘gay identity’ in spite of experiencing same-sex attraction need to be recognised and respected rather than being pressured to ‘conform’.
3. The wellbeing of society
If the debate remains one-sided, wrong decisions will continue to be made about the shape of family, which will affect future generations.
4. Gospel witness and freedom
The notion that ‘sexual identity’ is unchanging and unchallengeable is becoming a big obstacle to speaking, hearing and responding to the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is important to respond to this pressure so that people have the opportunity to hear of the life-giving news of Jesus Christ.

Please pray
As is often the case, we face opponents with far greater resources than we have. Yet, we are not perturbed by this apparent mismatch because we’re convinced that God can do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine. Please pray that He would show us favour and grant us success tomorrow for His glory.

Finally, we would like to thank you for your support. We cannot take on an important case like this without it.

The organisation announced earlier this year that the traditional pledge was to be changed, removing references to “God” and “country”. The change is one of the biggest in the movement’s 103 year history.

Letter
But a group of Christian leaders from Harrogate, North Yorkshire, have announced their plan to continue using the traditional pledge at the groups which meet in their church.

The local Harrogate leaders say in a joint letter “The spiritual aspect is recognised in Girlguiding and ‘God’ has been part of the promise since it was founded.

“The divine is fundamental to everything it stands for. No one need join Girlguiding, so removing the reference to God in the interests of inclusivity removes much of what we stand for.”
Support
Andrea Minichiello Williams, CEO of Christian Concern, was also supportive of the group, saying: “For many women, like those in Harrogate, their desire to serve in the Guides comes from their belief in God. They should be free to express that in the form of the original promise. Whether or not they’re allowed to will show how diverse and tolerant the new Guiding establishment really is.

“These women should be commended for standing up to the forced secularisation of the Guiding movement.”

BRITAIN NEWS AND ALERT's - Page 38 Empty GOOD NEWS CLOSE RAPE PORN LOOPHOLE

Post  Admin Mon 22 Jul 2013, 11:21 pm

Change.org
Elaine -
We did it!

You may have seen in the news today that the Prime Minister has announced a number of measures aimed at tackling internet pornography. One of which is that they will be amending existing extreme pornography legislation to close the rape pornography loophole.

This means the government will be implementing the changes you helped campaign for, making the possession of pornography that depicts simulated rape a criminal offence in England and Wales.

This is a huge success for all of us involved in the campaign, which only went public in June with over 72,000 people signing the petition - including you - in just over one month!

Given that the government’s position in April was that they would explicitly not be amending the law, your support has made all the difference in making this change possible.

Together with law professors from the University of Durham, we will help ensure amendment is properly drafted but as it stands reforming the extreme pornography law in this way marks a significant step forward.

Though there has been debate in the media about some of the other measures to combat pornography announced today, primarily about default opt-in settings, there is widespread support for the change to extreme pornography legislation.

Practically, the change will help to prevent rapists from using this kind of material to strategise and legitimise their crimes. More broadly, the amendment represents an important shift in priorities away from consensual activity to challenging the eroticisation of violence against women and girls.

Together we have made a difference.

From all of us at the campaign, thank you,

Fiona

Sharia courts in Britain:
A hidden camera report

Dear Elaine,

This stunning, disturbing, eye-opening hidden camera investigative report is a MUST SEE!

Go inside a sharia court in Britain and ask yourself: Do we want this in the United States???

Hamas-connected CAIR claims that American Laws for American Courts (ALAC) legislation is “anti-Muslim.”

When you watch this must see video below, you’ll see how dishonest that CAIR claim is. That’s because the Muslim women abused by the sharia court system in Britain would be protected under ALAC.
