Re: Chip Brogden CHURCH WITHOUT WALLS
Hi Elaine,
We've been talking about "The Divine Mystery of Forgiveness" as the only way to stop the vicious cycle of evil and violence.
This topic is appropriate now for so many reasons.
The old "eye for an eye" strategy of dealing with evil was a breakthrough when Moses first introduced it in 13 B.C.... that's over 3,300 years ago.
It was an improvement over the escalation of evil that is part of human nature.
Vengeance, retribution, payback, escalation of violence is the default human behavior.
You steal my sheep, I steal your camel.
You kill my cow in retribution, I kill your servant.
You kill two of my servants to get me back, I burn down your house.
On and on it goes.
It's still going on today.
Moses said, "Enough of this escalation of evil. From now on, if you knock out someone's eye or tooth, your eye or tooth will be knocked out, and that's it. Equal justice. The punishment must fit the crime. No more violence that spirals out of control, disproportionate to the offense."
Better than the alternative, right?
Then Jesus came along and showed that the "eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth" strategy is not a real solution - it just leaves us all blind and toothless.
If you really want to solve the problem of evil, He offers what seems like impossible advice:
"Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you." Mt. 5:44.
Only it's not "advice" - it's spiritual truth, teaching, and commandment for those who wish to follow Jesus.
It seems impossible, but this is why we call it a Divine Mystery.
If it were easy then everyone would do it.
It is contrary to human nature.
And, I would say, it IS impossible - unless the Holy Spirit fills our heart with God's own love.
So a clue to this mystery is understanding and experiencing God's own unconditional love for us.
Love that was first offered, not after we "accepted" Him, but while we were yet sinners and enemies of God.
He loved us, and died for us, before we repented, admitted, believed, or confessed anything.
What does that mean to you and me?
How do we take that and apply it to our lives?
How do we make it a realty in a world gone mad?
Join us for this week's Online Bible study as we explore these issues together...

The Ministry of One-Anothering
by Chip Brogden
Every Christian is called to the ministry of One-Anothering. We are to love one another, serve one another, submit to one another, instruct one another, encourage one another, help one another, forgive one another, and so forth. This is our spiritual service.
LEARN FROM MY MISTAKES! When I was twenty-three years old I sensed that it was time for me to take a big step and enter the ministry “full-time”. I knew I was called to the ministry and I was already an associate pastor in our church, but I was impatient and anxious to devote all my time to what I thought ministry was all about – preaching and teaching. I thought going into the ministry “full-time” was some great event that would be accompanied by trumpets and heralds. I wanted to be sure of the Lord’s leading so I fasted and prayed to see if He would approve of my plans (please note how I worded that). For three days I did not eat or drink. At the end of the three days I quit my job and announced to everyone that now I was in the “full-time” ministry...

Re: Chip Brogden CHURCH WITHOUT WALLS
[ltr]Hi Elaine,[/ltr]
[ltr]The resurrection of the One Who died for the sins of the world shows that God’s heart towards sinful man is not death, destruction, and punishment, but love, forgiveness, and reconciliation.[/ltr]
[ltr]All we have to do is stop pretending to be God, acknowledge our rebellion, and give up.[/ltr]
[ltr]God then welcomes us with open arms![/ltr]
[ltr]In fact, Scripture declares that God has already taken away the sins of the world and does not impute their trespasses against them.[/ltr]
[ltr]Isn't that amazing?[/ltr]
[ltr]In other words - GOD HAS ALREADY FORGIVEN THE WORLD.[/ltr]
[ltr]Now that's what I call GOOD NEWS - unless we let our religious tradition spoil it![/ltr]
[ltr]Religion teaches that you essentially EARN God's forgiveness by REPENTING or CONFESSING.[/ltr]
[ltr]Not so![/ltr]
[ltr]Scripture teaches that God forgave YOU before you acknowledged you were a sinner, before you believed Christ died for you, before you confessed Him as your Lord and Savior.[/ltr]
[ltr]How? When?[/ltr]
[ltr]God already judged you and forgave you... not when you "prayed the Sinner's Prayer," but when Jesus died on the cross and said, "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do."[/ltr]
[ltr]That includes all of us![/ltr]
[ltr]"While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us... while we were yet enemies of God, He reconciled us" (Rom. 5:8,10).[/ltr]
[ltr]"But wait a minute, Brother Chip! If God has already forgiven the world, are you saying they don't need to repent?"[/ltr]
[ltr]Of course they need to repent. We all do.[/ltr]
[ltr]I'm saying that forgiveness isn't the reward for repentance; rather, that forgiveness makes repentance possible in the first place.[/ltr]
[ltr]And I'm saying that "forgiveness" is only the first step in a process towards something much greater![/ltr]
[ltr]Are you sufficiently challenged, excited, or interested enough to learn more?[/ltr]

Hi Elaine!
The Early Years, Volume I is a rare collection of messages I recorded in my late 20’s to early 30’s.
After being forced to leave our church, Karla and I traveled all over the United States to share our new-found freedom in Christ and to help others experience the freedom and joy of a Christ-centered faith.
Not all these early messages were recorded, but the ones that were have been restored from cassette tape and offered as part of this three-volume series.
These messages are unedited and recorded live as I spoke in a variety of gatherings that included formal traditional churches, informal house churches, and small groups.
We believe these foundational teachings are still needed and worth revisiting, whether you are a mature believer, a new disciple, or an honest seeker of Truth.
There are seven messages in this volume, and I'm giving them away today.
01. Revelation is Sufficient
02. Jesus is Building His Church (Part 1)
03. Jesus is Building His Church (Part 2)
04. The Work of the Cross
05. All Things in Christ
06. The Epignosis of Truth
07. Meeting the Lord's Need
Listen or download all of them here:
https://www.chipbrogden.com/the-early-years-1
Access all the other .f.r.e.e. teachings from the main page:
https://chipbrogden.com/members
Listen as you wish, share as you like, and give as you can.
I am your brother,
Chip Brogden
P.S. Some people like the younger version of me better than the older version. Some like the older version better than the younger version. I have no control over the aging of the clay jar or which version of me you like. Personally? I prefer the current version of me. But both the young and the old are all part of the seasoning process. So does it really matter? Probably not. Hopefully you'll hear the same Spirit, the same Word, and the same emphasis on Christ at the center.

Re: Chip Brogden CHURCH WITHOUT WALLS
Hi Elaine,
Someone once observed that “to err is human; to forgive, Divine.”
So there's the "human side" of erring - lots of ways we mess things up!
"Sins" are all the moral failures and breaking of commandments.
"Offenses" may not be "sins" but they still hurt God and others.
"Transgressions" are when you go too far and violate some boundary (also known as "trespasses").
"Debts" are when you don't go far enough, failing to do something you should have done.
Check, Check, Check, Check.
Yep.
I've committed them all.
So have you.
But fear not!
Be of good cheer!
Because now, over and against all that is the Divine side --- Forgiveness!
Forgiveness is a way to ensure that sins, offenses, transgression, and debts can somehow be “resolved” in a way that ensure healing and reconciliation for all – otherwise, the universe would collapse under the weight of guilt and shame!
The “Divine Mystery of Forgiveness” is how God is able to perfect us in Love to the point that we gladly, willingly, freely forgive as we have been forgiven – because sin is part of human nature – but forgiveness is not.
So how do we tap into this incredible power of forgiveness to fix everything that is broken, break the vicious cycle of evil, and create healing for ourselves and for others?

Gathering: But Not for the Better!
by Chip Brogden
“Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that you come together not for the better, but for the worse.”
(I Corinthians 11:17)
By establishing His Presence in the midst of a group so small as two or three, Jesus repudiates our fascination with large numbers. Anyone can gather a crowd if you tell them what they want to hear. May I say that a large group has no more of the presence of Jesus than a small group. The numbers are irrelevant. Either Jesus is in the midst, or He is not. If Jesus is not in the midst of us then having a large group of people will not compensate for Him not being there.
I would rather sit on the living room floor with three people and have Jesus in the midst than sit in a service with three thousand people where Jesus is nowhere to be found.
Of course, Jesus can sometimes be found in large groups of people, but as my wife says, He tends to get lost in the crowd...

Re: Chip Brogden CHURCH WITHOUT WALLS
Hi Elaine,
If I were to start a new teaching series on "The Mark of the Beast" this week I'm sure (given the current state of things) it would be jam-packed with people eager to get my "take" on it.
But that's not what I'm teaching this week.
Why?
First, because I'm committed to pray, write, and teach as the Lord leads - and He's not leading me there.
Second, because the direction He IS leading me in is far more important than the Mark of the Beast.
This is something that slowly kills you from the inside!
Something that creeps up on you without you realizing it.
Something that affects every single one of us.
And, something that Jesus spent A LOT of time talking about.
What is it?
Unforgiveness.
Sorry to make it so practical when the rest of the world is in hysterics, but forgiveness is more urgently needed in your life right now than figuring out the Mark of the Beast, end time prophecy, or one-world governments.
Those things are "nice to know" and well and good, but only after you have grasped the basics.
Forgiveness is one of those things people think they already know all there is to know about.
I get it, because I used to feel the same way.
So it's easy to dismiss forgiveness as a kindergarten-level teaching and imagine you are too far advanced to benefit.
I was on Facebook once talking about God's mercy, grace, and forgiveness when someone objected:
"Oh great! So now I'm supposed to forgive the man who molested me and live with him in heaven forever!"
Clearly this person was struggling with deep pain and couldn't grasp that forgiveness is not about letting the guilty get away with their crimes, but about refusing to be victimized by the past.
Well, I don't blame them for not getting it.
We think we do until we don't.
That's why I'm calling this "The Divine Mystery of Forgiveness" because it is JUST THAT DEEP.
Impossible to know, see, or experience apart from revelation.
And yet, this Divine Mystery of Forgiveness is one of the most powerful spiritual principles you will ever find.
First, because it is a practical expression of love - nothing quantifies our notions about love more quickly than forgiveness; you either practice it or you don't, and there's no getting around it.
Second, because this Divine Mystery of Forgiveness is the driving power behind your being saved, healed, and delivered.
Third, because this Divine Mystery of Forgiveness breaks the cycle of evil and violence, taking us beyond "eye for an eye" into something truly supernatural and liberating.
Fourth, because this Divine Mystery of Forgiveness is the way God's mercy, grace, and love is demonstrated to the world around us.
I could go on and on, but I'll save it for the teaching :-)
Do you want to dig into this Divine Mystery?
Don't miss the start of the series this week...

Re: Chip Brogden CHURCH WITHOUT WALLS
A House of Prayer for All People
by Chip Brogden
God has decided that He will not act apart from the prayers of the saints. We know that apart from Him, we CAN DO NOTHING. We also need to know that apart from us, God WILL DO NOTHING.
So He bids us to pray, “Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10).” God is concerned for the earth, and calls upon the Church to join together with Him in bringing His Will to pass. Towards what end are we praying? That God’s Kingdom and God’s Will would be manifest in the earth. In heaven, God’s Will and God’s Kingdom are already established (Psalm 119:89). Even though God has placed everything beneath the feet of Jesus Christ, here, in the earth, we do not yet see all things submitted to Him (Hebrews 2:8). There is a chasm that exists between God’s stated purpose of “all things in Christ” and life on earth as we see it today.
Today, Scripture acknowledges, we do not YET see all things submitted to Him. I must say I find that word “YET” terribly exciting! That word “YET” means that something is in store for everything that remains unsubmitted to the Lord Jesus Christ. The presence of the word “YET” means its manifestation is inevitable...

Re: Chip Brogden CHURCH WITHOUT WALLS
Hi Elaine,
The devil is cast down - but not destroyed.
Now why is that?
And why can't we just sing "Victory in Jesus!" and go merrily along?
Because this very struggle to overcome evil with good is how we are perfected in love to become fully mature sons and daughters of God.
Just as God left the enemies of Israel in the Promised Land, so the devil remains as an adversary to prevent us from possessing the fullness of our inheritance in Christ.
Let me be blunt...
You can be totally victorious in Christ and still get your butt kicked by a spiritual adversary who hinders and resists you at every step.
This is why Scripture shows us that while all Overcomers are Saints, not all Saints are Overcomers!
What a grand deception!
Most saints are living it up in Babylon and have no idea that the very religious system they support is part of the Beast system through which the Dragon makes war on the saints.
No wonder they can't overcome; they have been led astray from the simplicity of Christ.
So if you see these things, yet you're still struggling, that's a positive sign!
And when we read "in the back of the Book" we see how all of this is going to end.
It's good news for those who overcome the Dragon...
It's bad news for the saints who let the Dragon overcome them.
"The Final Battle" is this week's topic, and the most important thing for you to know is:
The Final Battle is already underway.
If you're waiting for it then you've already missed it.
But it's not too late to become an Overcomer!
You don't want to miss the conclusion of this teaching series...

Re: Chip Brogden CHURCH WITHOUT WALLS
Hi Elaine,
I have observed that God gets none of the credit when things go right - and all of the blame when things go wrong.
In the parable of the wheat and tares, the workers complained to the owner of the field that there were tares (worthless weeds that look like wheat) mixed in with the good wheat.
The complaint is mildly accusatory:
"Did you not sow good seed into your field? Why then is it filled with tares?"
As if something is wrong with the owner...
Or something is wrong with the seed...
Or something is wrong with the field!
Did not God create the world and said it was "good"?
Then why is it filled with evil?
Why does God allow all wickedness and violence?
Why do bad things happen to good people?
Is it God's fault?
Hear what the owner of the field says:
"An enemy has done this" (Mt. 13:28).
And sure enough, it had happened the night before that an enemy came in and sowed tares among the wheat.
Not the owner's fault.
Not the seed's fault.
Not the field's fault.
And not really the servant's fault, apart from not realizing what had happened and questioning the owner of the field as if he had done something wrong.
Any attempt to explain the problem of evil that refuses to acknowledge the existence of a spiritual adversary is foolish.
But if we just recognize what Scripture reveals - "an enemy has done this" - then it all makes sense.
God didn't create the world the way we see it today.
God didn't cause sickness and death.
God didn't cause darkness and deception.
"An enemy has done this."
We need to clearly discern the difference between the God Who wants to save, heal, deliver, reconcile, and bless all people and the enemy who comes to steal, kill, destroy, deceive, tempt, seduce, and lead astray.
Join us for this week's online study as we expose the enemy with the Light of Truth...

Revival, or Reformation?
by Chip Brogden
There have always been some who not only recognize the glaring deficiencies of what the church is, but are grieved and troubled by what they see, to the point that they cannot remain content to let things continue on, but are compelled to do something about it.
Of these blessed few who choose to stand up and speak out against the religious system, the response seems to fall along one of three approaches. As we will see, only one approach is harmonious with the prophetic example set forth in the history of the people of God, and it is the one approach that seems to be the last resort instead of the first recourse...

Re: Chip Brogden CHURCH WITHOUT WALLS
Hi Elaine,
I know what some of you are thinking, because I used to think the same thing.
"I'm just a little person, hidden away, nobody sees me or knows who I am. So how can God possibly use me in this ongoing battle of good vs. evil?"
The truth is that YOU are more important than you realize.
Individually we are not much.
But joined together into One Body by One Spirit, we are the only thing preventing the end of the world as we know it.
Think about that!
Light of the world... salt of the earth... standing in the gap...
And if we stop being THAT in the world, then the world is doomed.
That you are HERE demonstrates God's grace and love for all people and His desire for them "to be saved and to come to the full-knowledge of the truth" (1 Tim. 2:4).
Consider...
He called all of us out of the world, then sends us into the world, to be a light to the world.
He called all of us out of the nations, into a Holy Nation, then sends us to all the nations, to be a blessing to all the nations.
Incredible, isn't it?
Others of you are thinking:
"I've got problems of my own! How can God use me to get a big victory over the devil when I'm struggling?"
I hear you.
But consider how all the promises of God revolve around strength out of weakness; life out of death, wisdom out of foolishness, light out of darkness.
We've talked about the Spirituality of Imperfection before.
You can be an imperfect person and still pray perfect prayers!
Don't believe me?
Jesus gave us the Perfect Prayer so we won't be lost, wondering what to say or do.
It's so amazing.
