Venezuela’s natural reserves, such as oil, gas, and gold, encourage the US to seek regime change there, President Maduro told RT, saying he won’t be remembered as a leader who showed weakness and ignorance to his people.
“What is Donald Trump’s ‘casus belli’ against Venezuela? The ‘casus belli’ is the oil of Venezuela, the riches of Venezuela, its gold, gas, iron, diamonds, other material riches,” Maduro said in an exclusive interview with RT Spanish. The remarks come as Western nations pile overwhelming pressure on the Latin American country.

Maduro, who is widely seen as the successor to the cause of late Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez, said it doesn’t matter how he will go down in history.

What does matter, he said, is that he doesn’t want to be a “traitor” and a “weak person,” bowing down to Washington.

Turmoil in Venezuela escalated on the heels of economic hardships which saw the country suffer from galloping inflation, skyrocketing prices and low living standards. Yet, Maduro believes his government has a solution to those troubles.

Admitting that “hyperinflation caused tremendous damage to us,” he suggested that the resources “kidnapped by the world” be freed for a national recovery. Aside from that, the government will work on keeping prices as low as possible and will stabilize the national currency rate.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has said that he will not betray his country by yielding to Washington’s desire for regime change in Caracas, telling RT that he will not let history remember him as a traitor.
“I do not care how I’m going to go down in history, I’m not going to be a traitor, a weak one, like a man who turned his back on his historic commitments to his people,” he said in an exclusive interview with RT Spanish.

“I take advantage of every means of communication to ask the whole world to denounce and stop the madness of Donald Trump. Venezuela is never going to give in,” he told RT.

He added that “a wave of conscience” globally will lead to a “repudiation” of the US president.

Maduro said that the Venezuelan people were prepared to defend their “sacred” land from an US military invasion, but emphasized that he “prayed to God” that such a conflict will never occur. Trump’s “military aggression” must be rejected so that “peace prevails.”

Maduro also told RT Spanish that Venezuela’s vast natural resources has made it a prime target for the Washington-backed regime change.

He warned in an earlier interview that Trump would be responsible for a bloody conflict that would mirror the war in Vietnam if he gets militarily involved in Venezuela.

In late January, speaker of the opposition-dominated National Assembly, Juan Guaido, declared himself the interim president of Venezuela – a self-appointment which Washington quickly recognized as legitimate. Several European states have since followed suit, but Guaido still lacks a bloc-wide endorsement, which was opposed by Italy.

President Donald Trump will be watching the Super Bowl in style this year.

With the government finally open, the president and several members of his family decided to head to his Mar-a-Lago resort to watch the big game this weekend.

Party Time
President Trump is a huge sports fan, and he’s reportedly friends with Tom Brady and Bob Kraft, the quarterback and owner, respectively, of the New England Patriots.

As you may recall, Brady got himself in hot water when a MAGA hat was spotted in his locker during a post-game interview. But despite the fact that that happened more than two years ago, Brady still cannot live it down.

Even though the president’s favorite NFL QB stiffed him, there is little doubt Trump will be rooting for the Patriots come Sunday evening.

Indeed, a Super Bowl party hosted by Trump at Mar-a-Lago is actually somewhat of a tradition.

We know for sure that First Lady Melania Trump, first son Barron, first daughter Ivanka, and the president’s son-in-law Jared Kushner will all be there, as they traveled together on Air Force One to Florida. Who knows who else could have been invited?

Since they did not get to spend Christmas and New Year’s together, the family is more than likely going to treat this as their holiday celebration.

Much-Needed Break
Even though the president will be working in Florida this weekend, it is still a nice break from the grind of D.C. for him.

For more than a month, the president has been getting raked over the coals by the media regarding the shutdown.

Meanwhile, he is still facing scrutiny over the Russia investigation. After Roger Stone’s arrest, many pundits suspected Donald Trump Jr. would be next, something that is surely weighing heavily on the president.

Regardless, he and his family now have a few days to get away from things and enjoy the big game, just like the rest of America. Now, we just need to hope the halftime show does not turn into a ridiculous liberal showcase, as many suspect it will.

Venezuela’s socialist President Nicolas Maduro signaled Monday that he’d seek direct talks with President Trump over his nation’s escalating political crisis; asking to speak with the Commander-in-Chief after the White House issued strict new economic penalties against his regime.

The Trump administration unveiled a new round of crippling sanctions against Venezuela’s government-owned oil industry this week; “blocking” $7 billion in energy assets as the local economy crumbles.

“Maduro is open to talks with President Donald Trump, his foreign minister, Jorge Arreaza, said Monday,” reports ABC News.

“Today’s designation of PDVSA will help prevent further diverting of Venezuela’s assets by Maduro and preserve these assets for the people of Venezuela,” Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said during a White House news conference. “The path to sanctions relief for PDVSA is through the expeditious transfer of control to the interim president or a subsequent democratically elected government who is committed to taking concrete and meaningful actions to combat corruption.”

Falling Fast
Last week, BuzzFeed was the latest news organization to print a fake news story — and it came back to bite them big time.

The organization wrongly reported that President Donald Trump had instructed Michael Cohen to lie to Congress during his testimony.

The report was so misleading, in fact, that even Robert Mueller’s office came out to debunk it with a formal statement.

This, of course, is on the tail end of the first lady winning a lawsuit against the publication for yet another bogus story that came out about her a few months back.

Then, BuzzFeed was forced to lay off more than 200 workers, roughly 15 percent of the entire staff, last week.

For their part, the liberal Huffington Post laid off 20 reporters.

Liberal Backlash
Several liberal voices went after Trump for his tweet lamenting the layoffs as though he was mocking the individuals who had just lost their jobs — but that was not the case.

Trump was simply pointing out that had these outlets been a bit more honest in their reporting, perhaps they would not be faced with the current dilemma.

Rather than actually verifying stories, many outlets simply go with hot headlines to try to gain clicks.

UNION CONFUSION: White House Plans to Go Ahead with State of the Union Despite Pelosi

The White House is reportedly planning to hold the annual State of the Union address as previously planned; ignoring Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s insistence the speech be delayed due to the ongoing government shutdown.

“The White House is still planning to move ahead with next week’s scheduled State of the Union address, but the details remain up in the air after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi strongly urged the president to delay the speech or submit it in writing amid the government shutdown fight,” writes Fox News.

“Sadly, given the security concerns and unless the government re-opens this week, I suggest that we work together to determine another suitable date after government has re-opened for this address or for you to consider delivering your State of the Union address in writing to Congress on January 29,” Pelosi wrote in a letter last week.

“We are still in a holding pattern,” one senior source said.

Liberals love to create controversy where there is none — and Jesse Jackson was recently caught doing just that.

After seeing the fast food buffet Trump put out for the Clemson University football team when they recently visited the White House after their national championship victory, Jesse Jackson said he was personally offended by the president’s gesture.

Creating Controversy
Like many other liberals in his fold, Jesse Jackson was trying to create outrage over the food served to the national champion Clemson Tigers.

“The national champions deserved better,” he claimed before saying what Trump did was “beneath the status of their accomplishment.”

There’s one problem with Jackson’s assertion, however.

The players — the actual attendees at the event — loved the food!

The pictures of the event told the real story, as virtually every player on the team had a big smile on his face.

Players who did interviews afterward said they had a blast, as well.

Negative Coverage
Indeed, this is simply another case of the media trying to create a negative narrative regardless of the truth.

Liberal personalities like Jackson and Michael Strahan, are trying to tell these kids they should have been offended to push their own narratives.

The reality of the situation is that these kids had an experience that will likely never be repeated again at the White House — something they talk about for the rest of their lives.

Jackson and Strahan are trying to turn what was a very positive event into a negative one and it is simply not fair to the kids, let alone the president.

Our message to people like Jackson? Simply leave it alone.

The Trump administration may soon have another resignation at a key position — but this one may be necessary for the good of the country.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is reportedly considering resigning to run for Pat Roberts’ Senate seat in Kansas.

Checking Options
Republicans have been hit with a slew of retirements at the most inopportune times.

As maintaining a majority in the Senate is a top priority for the party in 2020, Republicans are desperate for a name they can put on the ticket that will allow the party to continue to hold the Kansas seat.

Pompeo, in turn, has called for a strategy meeting to discuss his options if he decides to go forward with a Senate campaign.

Much Encouragement
Several high-profile members of the Senate have already reached out to Pompeo to encourage him to run.

Mitch McConnell, the current majority leader, was one of the first to encourage Pompeo to trade in his State Department office for a seat in the Senate.

While they have reportedly not met to discuss the situation yet, Sen. Roberts himself is also apparently wanting a sit down with our secretary of State to encourage him to run.

Not His First Dance
While he has not held a Senate seat before, Pompeo is no stranger to the legislative branch of our government.

Pompeo had a six-year run in the House, representing Kansas from 2011 to 2017.

He gave up his seat to take over the CIA after Trump won the presidential election.

He then took over the State Department after Rex Tillerson was dismissed.

Even though the administration would miss him, it would be good to know Trump has a major ally in the Senate.

Even amid a government shutdown over immigration, President Donald Trump’s approval rating among Hispanics is soaring.

Trump’s approval rating among Hispanics has improved 19 percent, according to the president, bringing his overall approval among the demographic to a whopping 50 percent.

The Big Swing
When an approval rating swings from 31 percent to 50 percent in a specific demographic, people start to take notice.

Most pundits expected Trump’s support among Hispanics, which has always been absurdly high for a Republican, to plummet amid the shutdown — especially as Dems like Nancy Pelosi have labeled Trump as racist because of his immigration policies.

But it seems as though the Hispanic voters that came into this country legally do not appreciate when migrants try to circumvent the process they had to go through.

Waning Support Among Base
Still, while this should be good news for Mr. Trump, it does come at a price.

The poll from which Trump pulled his numbers was apparently the most recent NPR/PBS News Hour/Marist Survey.

While his numbers among Hispanics were very good in this poll, there was a noticeable drop in support among most of his key base demographics.

For instance, his Republican approval rating dropped by 7 percent, to 83 percent.

His support among white Evangelicals also declined by 7 percent.

The biggest drop among male voters was with his approval rating among suburban men, which dropped from 51 percent to 42 percent.

Trump also lost support with white women without a college degree, plummeting 11 points in approval rating and 24 points overall, as his disapproval rating went from 34 percent to 47 percent.

This is something that could quickly reverse if Trump is able to get his wall built and further his MAGA agenda.

However, while he may be happy about Hispanic support, that uptick will not make up for the support he has lost in his key demographics come election day.

The “failing pile of garbage” Buzzfeed, who was the first to publish Christopher Steele’s bogus dossier, is out with the latest anti-Trump “bombshell” so scandalous that it’ll take an entire three days before the media forgets about it.
To quote the key claims from the piece, authored by Anthony Cormier and Jason Leopold:

President Donald Trump directed his longtime attorney Michael Cohen to lie to Congress about negotiations to build a Trump Tower in Moscow, according to two federal law enforcement officials involved in an investigation of the matter.

Trump also supported a plan, set up by Cohen, to visit Russia during the presidential campaign, in order to personally meet President Vladimir Putin and jump-start the tower negotiations. “Make it happen,” the sources said Trump told Cohen.

The special counsel’s office learned about Trump’s directive for Cohen to lie to Congress through interviews with multiple witnesses from the Trump Organization and internal company emails, text messages, and a cache of other documents. Cohen then acknowledged those instructions during his interviews with that office.

A number of issues are immediately apparent, including the facts that:
All sources are anonymous – and that which can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence. There are no documents provided either, we’re simply relying on two anonymous “federal law enforcement officials.”
Trump allegedly asked Cohen to lie for him after Cohen had publicly turned on Trump. How would that make any sense?
Trump’s Trump Tower project in Russia never materialized, and conducting business in Russia is not a crime.
Michael Cohen claims to have lied for Trump in the past out of “blind loyalty,” not because he was directed to lie. Given Cohen’s indictments, if Trump actually did direct him to lie, it would be in his best interest to say as much. 
And most importantly, the Special Counsel is disputing the report.

Prior to the Mueller spokesperson disputing the report, there were plenty of other red flags journalists should’ve considered. 
One of the Authors Has History of Bogus Reporting
The second “reporter” with a byline on Buzzfeed’s article, Jason Leopold, really ain’t all that great at his job. Here’s some reporting of his from 2006, in which he predicted that Karl Rove was just 24-hours away from being indicted on charges of perjury and lying to reporters:
Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald spent more than half a day Friday at the offices of Patton Boggs, the law firm representing Karl Rove. During the course of that meeting, Fitzgerald served attorneys for former Deputy White House Chief of Staff Karl Rove with an indictment charging the embattled White House official with perjury and lying to investigators related to his role in the CIA leak case, and instructed one of the attorneys to tell Rove that he has 24 business hours to get his affairs in order, high level sources with direct knowledge of the meeting said Saturday morning.

Would you believe that all of Leopold’s sources for his bogus story were anonymous too?

In 2002,  the far-left Salon.com removed a story of Leopold’s, accusing him of plagiarism and claiming that he “distributed an account of events” that was “riddled with inaccuracies and misrepresentations.”

The Duo Hasn’t (Or Maybe Has!) Seen the Evidence
Appearing on CNN, Cormier admitted that he hadn’t actually seen the underlying evidence for his report. When asked by host Alisyn Camerota if he’d seen the evidence, Cornier replied that ““No, I’ve not seen it personally” but assured us that “the folks we have talked to — two officials we have spoken to are full, 100 percent read into that aspect of the Special Counsel’s investigation.” In other words, no he hasn’t seen the evidence, but people we don’t know the names of assured him that they’re not liars.

According to Leopold however, he actually has seen the evidence, telling MSNBC that “We have seen documents. We have been briefed on documents. We are very confident in our reporting.” If he’s speaking of a “we,” then he must be speaking of Cormier, who contradicted him.
In hindsight, it probably isn’t surprising that Buzzfeed, the  website that has brought us such enlightening articles including (but not limited to) “23 Things You Need If You’re Obsessed With Llamas,” “12 Reasons Why Sam The Car With Eyebrows Should Be Your New Favorite Cat,” and “13 Awesome Celebrity #TBT Photos You Might Have Missed This Week” hasn’t been successful in  pivoting towards being a respected news outlet.

I suppose we should stay tuned for when they report on the 10,000th “final nail” in Trump’s coffin.

It is no secret that President Donald Trump is disappointed with international financial support for NATO — but that doesn’t mean he’s ditching the alliance altogether.

The president promised on Thursday: “We will be with NATO 100 percent, but as I told the countries, you have to step up and you have to pay.”

Pay Your Share
No one has said that NATO isn’t a necessary alliance — but in all fairness, the funding for the group needs to be spread out a bit more evenly by everyone involved.

In 2016, the United States’ contribution to NATO virtually doubled every other major power involved.

We contributed more than 22 percent of the NATO budget.

The United Kingdom and France contributed less than 12 percent each.

Meanwhile, countries like Canada are only contributing just over 6 percent. What gives?

Per Capita
Statistics on the overall percentage of NATO’s budget paid by country may be considered misleading by some, due to the high population and perceived wealth of the United States.

What is not misleading, however, is the amount paid per capita by each country on defense spending.

Once again, at almost $1,900 per U.S. citizen, the United States is by far the largest contributor.

The next closest country would be Norway, at just under $1,400 per citizen.

Britain comes in at a paltry $907 per citizen, and Germany pays a mere $546 per citizen!

To Trump’s point, every one of these countries benefits from NATO, so it is only fair they all pay their fair share.

The U.S. is trillions of dollars in debt, yet we continue to shell out for programs and aid packages that benefit other countries while ignoring our own financial and security responsibilities to the taxpayers that actually fund this.

Trump wants that to stop — but don’t worry; he’s not pulling out of the deal altogether just yet.

The stock market rose by 300 points Friday after reports the Chinese government offered a path towards totally eliminating the US-China trade imbalance by 2024, according to CNBC News.

“The major averages jumped to their highs of the day after sources told CNBC that China had offered a six-year increase in U.S. imports during recent trade talks. Bloomberg News reported on Friday that the deal would aim to reduce the annual U.S. deficit to zero by 2024,” writes CNBC.

“The Wall Street Journal reported that Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin had floated the idea of easing tariffs on Chinese goods as the two countries continue to negotiate on trade,” adds the article.

White House says Trump injured his hand while playing with Barron

During a recent TV interview, the media noticed something was a little off about the president. Closer inspection showed a bloody bandage on Trump’s right hand.

But Press Secretary Sarah Sanders was quick to kill the rumors something was wrong with the president. She clarified earlier this week that he ended up with a small scratch after playing around with his son Barron.

The Conspiracy
Leave it to the media to create something out of nothing.

The flurry of comments started after Fox’s Sean Hannity posted a photo of himself with Donald Trump while the president was touring the border.
Of course, people were curious about the bandage on Trump’s hand.

However, they also happened to notice a bandage on Hannity’s left hand.

When some really ridiculous questions started to fly, Hannity cut them off at the knees.

Hannity said he received his cut during training.

The Fox star regularly uses mixed martial arts to stay in shape, and apparently hit his hand on someone’s headgear.

Amateur Doctors
Still, it was truly amazing the amount of speculation that went out about Trump’s band-aid.

Every major network was bogged down with doctors theorizing what could be wrong with the president.

But it was much ado about nothing.

“The president was having fun and joking around with his son Barron and scratched his hand,” Sanders said.

Another Update?
This answer sparked inquiries about when Trump is going to undergo another physical.

Last year, as rumors started to fly about his health, Trump pacified everyone and passed with flying colors.

Sanders told reporters that Trump has another physical planned for the near future.

While no date has been released, the White House assured everyone they will release the details of the exam after it is completed.

U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday signed new bipartisan legislation committing the United States to preventing genocide, named in honor of Holocaust survivor and Nobel Prize laureate Elie Wiesel.

The Elie Wiesel Genocide and Atrocities Prevention Act, introduced by Congressman Joe Crowley (D-N.Y.) and Ann Wagner (R-Mo.), and Sens. Ben Cardin (D-Md.) and Todd Young (R-Ind.) makes the prevention of genocide and other crimes a matter of national security, and aims to improve and increase the U.S. response to potential and emerging genocides.

It establishes a Mass Atrocities Task Force to provide training to U.S. Foreign Service officers on detecting early signs of atrocities and will mandate the director of national intelligence to report on atrocities in an annual crime report to Congress.

Wiesel was a survivor of the Auschwitz death camp, where his mother and young sister were murdered. He wrote extensively about his experiences, and won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1986, becoming a famous spokesperson for Holocaust survivors before passing away on July 2, 2016.

Also on Jan. 14, Trump signed into law House Resolution 672, the Combating European Anti-Semitism Act of 2017, which expresses the sense of the Congress that it is in America’s national interest to confront anti-Semitism at home and abroad.

Since Hillary Clinton has been taking shots at him, Trump felt the need to fire one back.

While traveling in “The Beast,” Trump noted, “I’m riding in this incredible car, and I’m driving and I’m looking at gas stations to see how much is the gas. You think Hillary Clinton would’ve done that?”

He then answered his own question, stating, “I don’t think so!”

Just Another Sign
We all remember the gasoline crisis during several other administrations.

During the Obama administration, we didn’t even need a gas crisis to see prices of $4/gallon.

This was something Trump has addressed since he has taken office.

Many Americans have never even seen gasoline prices this low.

Even Trump was impressed with the current price.

He stated, “I’m in the Beast and I’m looking at the gas station. I say, ‘fellas, slow down, I can’t see.” I say, ‘$1.75!’ That didn’t happen by accident, folks!”

Every Statement Has a Purpose
If there is one thing even Trump’s enemies have to admit, it would be that the man knows how to manipulate a news cycle.

Over the last week or so, the major focus of the media has once again been Russia.

Former Trump campaign official Paul Manafort’s court papers had the media hoping that special counsel Robert Mueller may finally have found the smoking gun tying the Trump campaign to the Russians.

Which leads us to the gasoline prices.

Trump pointed out that America’s increased oil production is not what Russia wants.

Even Trump ally Judge Jeanine Pirro asked him flat out if he was working with the Russians.

Normally, those two get along well, but Trump quickly told her the question was insulting.

The Times Article
Citing “former law enforcement officials and others familiar with the investigation,” the Times writes that in May of 2017, just after the firing of Comey, “law officials became so concerned by the president’s behavior that they began investigating whether he had been working on behalf of Russia against American interests.” That’s right — the FBI seemingly opened up an investigation, on its own accord, to determine whether Trump was a Russian spy.

On what evidence was it based?

The same sources told the Times that the FBI had been itching to investigate Trump since the 2016 presidential election when “senior FBI officials” are said to have “grown suspicious” of him. But instead, they held off “in part because they were uncertain how to proceed with an inquiry of such sensitivity and magnitude.”

Thus, it would appear that the FBI used the Comey firing as an opportunity to launch — in the words of Trump, “for no reason & with no proof” — its long-desired investigation into the president.

Ongoing investigation
There continues to be a criminal investigation into Trump, being carried on by special counsel Robert Mueller, as to whether the president in firing Comey obstructed justice. It must be remembered that at the time Comey was leading the investigation into potential Trump-Russia collusion, which has also been taken over by Mueller.

Considering how long the investigations of Trump have been ongoing, there is likely not much evidence of wrongdoing anyway. As Trump’s lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, pointed out in the Times article, “The fact that it goes back a year and a half and nothing came of it that showed a breach of national security means they found nothing.”

Trump and White House Respond
Trump’s Saturday morning tweet continued with an attack on Comey:

Funny thing about James Comey. Everybody wanted him fired, Republican and Democrat alike. After the rigged & botched Crooked Hillary investigation, where she was interviewed on July 4th Weekend, not recorded or sworn in, and where she said she didn’t know anything (a lie), my firing of James Comey was a great day for America. He was a Crooked Cop.”
Subsequently, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders issued a statement calling the Times publication “absurd.”
“James Comey was fired because he’s a disgraced partisan hack,” said Sanders.

Get Your House in Order
Trump’s tweet should be a big wake-up call for California to get its act together.

While it is one of the largest and most populated states in the country, California is also among the most mismanaged states in the Union.

The financial problems of the state are legendary, and they often need federal money to keep the lights on.

In addition to its financial woes, the state consistently has problems with wildfires that cause billions of dollars in damage.

Lives are uprooted, businesses are destroyed, and people obviously lose their lives from these fires — all of which are unacceptable.

While some of these fires would happen regardless, some of them could also be prevented with better forest management.

That was President Trump’s point.

Dems Fight Back
Democrats in office did not take too kindly to Trump’s threat.

They are already claiming that Trump is using the victims of these wildfires as pawns in his never-ending battle with House and Senate Democrats.

California, for its part, only seems to play nice with the federal government when it actually wants something.

President Trump has received zero cooperation from the state on a single platform issue.

Meanwhile, virtually the entire state provides sanctuary for illegal immigrants.

President Donald Trump is willing to own the partial government shutdown, even if it lasts for months.

Weeks ago, Trump told congressional Democrats that he would take complete responsibility for shutting parts of the government down if doing so was necessary to preserve America’s borders. And now, just to show that he isn’t bluffing, Trump confirmed that, while he hopes it will be resolved quickly, he was “absolutely” willing to extend the shutdown for “months or even years” if Democrats refuse to fund his planned border wall.

The long haul
Trump met with congressional leaders from both parties Friday afternoon to discuss a spending bill that would keep the government open, though without allocating the $5 billion Republican demand to construct parts of a barrier along the U.S.-Mexico border.
Following the White House meeting, Senate Minority leader Chuck Schumer told reporters that the president threatened to keep the nine government agencies currently affected closed “for a very long period of time — months or even years.”
Rather than deny this allegation, as Democrats surely anticipated, Trump confirmed Schumer’s account during a Rose Garden press conference immediately following the meeting.
“Absolutely I said that,” Trump told CBS News’ chief Washington correspondent Major Garrett. “I don’t think it will, but I am prepared.”

Refusing to cave
The president described the meeting with top Democrats and Republicans as “contentious” but “productive,” although Schumer told reporters that little progress had been made regarding ongoing negotiations. Backed by the GOP, Trump is demanding $5.6 billion to fund parts of a 1,250 mile border wall project estimated to cost in excess of $21 billion to build.

“It was a great meeting. It may get solved, it may not get solved,” Trump said.

So far, all signs point to a long and unresolved shutdown. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who reclaimed control of the House for Democrats on Thursday, has insisted that her caucus would not support any deal that includes funding for the wall, calling a barrier against illegal immigration an “immoral” creation.

“We cannot resolve this until we open up government, and we made that very clear to the president,” Pelosi said following the White House meeting.

Yet, if Republicans listened to Pelosi and opened up the government without securing funding for the wall, they would be sacrificing any leverage they maintain for future negotiations. As the shutdown enters its 15th day, neither party appears willing to concede their position.

Shattering records
On Monday, the partial government shutdown will become the second longest in U.S. history, bypassing an Obama era closure that lasted 16 days when GOP leaders tried and failed to block parts of the Affordable Care Act from being implemented.

The longest federal government shutdown occurred during the Clinton administration in 1995-1996 and lasted 21 days. President Bill Clinton and GOP leaders disagreed on how to properly balance the budget, and eventually Senate Republicans folded to pressure and abandoned their goal to enacting a 7-year budget plan.

As expected, newcomers to the Democrat party are frothing at the mouth to impeach Trump.

After newcomer Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) used some foul-mouthed commentary about impeaching Trump, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders stated severely: “You will not impeach this president.”

The New Narrative
We are only a day away from Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) speech to Congress about working together to help the American people.

At the time of her comment, we called it bogus because Democrats have already revealed that their only agenda is to prevent President Donald Trump from succeeding in any way.

They will do that by any means necessary, including trying to tie down Trump with an impeachment process.

Proving us right, Democrat Congressman Brad Sherman re-introduced his articles of impeachment on Thursday.

If those articles of impeachment do not pass, it would honestly be very surprising.

Sanders Drops the Gauntlet
Tlaib, during her profanity-laced rant, did not talk about helping Americans. She only seems interested in impeaching Trump.

As her rant made its way around social media, Sanders was on “Fox & Friends” setting the record straight.

“You will not impeach this president when he had two of the most successful years any president had in modern history,” Sanders stated.

“The only reason they come after this president is because they know they can’t beat us, can’t beat him when it comes to policy debate. They have no solutions for America,” she added.

“People are sick and tired of playing politics. That is not what America is looking for,” Sanders continued. “That is not the goodness of our country. I hope some of these new faces that campaigned on being different and being a change will actually come here to work with the president, work for solutions, work to help the American people, not to help their own political careers.”

And she is right.

The biggest policy issue the Democrats have on their plate right now benefits undocumented immigrants.

That is where their party loyalties lie.

There is Always a Middle Ground
In government, you more or less know you are never going to get everything you want.

The beauty of our political system is supposed to be that both sides get something they can live with.

For decades now, though, our politicians have forgotten the art of compromise.

Going back to the days of former president Ronald Reagan, our government has been more or less hamstrung by partisanship.

If Republicans get the White House, they push through their legislation.

When the Democrats take over, they undo everything the Republicans did and force their own legislation through.

We saw this throughout both Bush administrations, the Clinton administration, and the Obama administration.

Trump vowed he would bring his negotiating skills to the table and change all that.

Initially, it seemed as though it was working … until we got to the fundamental issues on which he campaigned, like border security.

That middle ground that politicians are supposed to find is now completely gone and it does not appear as though they will find it again anytime soon.

Not Willing to Budge
Pelosi just took over as House Speaker and promised to create bipartisan legislation, as Americans deserve.

While saying that, both she and Schumer have rallied their party to completely walk away from the table with President Trump.

The ONLY way they will come back is if they get their way, period.

Trump has thrown out a request for $5 billion for the border wall.

Most conservatives believe if a good-faith agreement is made, he will compromise and reopen the government for far less.

The problem, though, is that Trump would be able to check off another box in his list of campaign promises, and that’s just not acceptable for Democrats.

President Donald Trump just made an observation that Democrats would do well to consider.

The president pointed out that if the Supreme Court upholds former President Barack Obama’s DACA order, it will give the office of the President of the United States — currently held by Trump — far too much power. And that’s the last thing the Democrats want.

Fair Point
The president’s comments came as the government shutdown continues over the Senate’s refusal to include border wall funding in the new spending bill. While one lawmaker has proposed a solution to the shutdown that included protection for the so-called DREAMERS, Trump indicated that he preferred to let the high court handle the case first.

“I just think that we’re better off waiting for the Supreme Court,” Trump said. “If the Supreme Court rules that President Obama was wrong, which they should, because, by the way, if he was right, then I’ve been given tremendous power.”

“Can you imagine me having that power, wouldn’t that be scary?” Trump continued. “Right? No, if Pres. Obama is allowed to do what he did on DACA, then I’m allowed to whatever I want to do on things that probably… a president doesn’t have the right to do.

SCOTUS and DACA
One of the upcoming issues for the Supreme Court will be to make a final ruling as to whether or not DACA is unconstitutional.

It’s an argument that has been going on ever since Obama penned the order in 2012. DACA is also a perfect example, many believe, of a presidential power grab.

Trump expects the Supreme Court to rule against DACA, but there is always a chance they will uphold it.

That’s not good for anyone, Trump pointed out, because it would set a precedent that puts an unseemly amount of power in the hands of the President of the United States.

Bargaining Chip
A secondary reason Trump is hoping the Supreme Court shoots down the DACA legislation is that it will give him a bargaining chip over the building of the border wall.

Without DACA in place, the Democrats will be scrambling to find a solution for the DREAMERS — and Trump may be considering offering the Democrats something in return for wall funding.

This is a bargain most conservatives would not like, but would probably be willing to accept in return for border security.

That is what is known as compromise — which, to this point, Democrats have not been willing to do.

Whether the Supreme Court justices know it or not, they hold the success of this administration in their hands right now.

Trump does not want power he does not deserve. If he did, he would be hoping the Supreme Court will allow DACA to stand.

What he does want, however, is for Democrats to come to the table and negotiate in good faith. That will only happen if the Supreme Court does the right thing and shreds the unconstitutional legislation that is DACA.

Trump Impeachment Articles Introduced
January 3, 2019
The new Democratic majority was sworn into the House of Representatives on Thursday, and the new majority wasted no time in getting started on the top priority for most Democrats: Impeaching President Donald Trump.

KTLA reported that Democrat California Rep. Brad Sherman announced that he would re-introduce Articles of Impeachment on the first day of the new Congress. He had previously introduced similar Articles of Impeachment in 2017.

Sherman explained that his goal was simply to force a conversation about impeachment while party leaders have been cautioning members to hold off and wait until Special Counsel Robert Mueller completed his investigation and submitted a final report.

“I didn’t do this as some political move, I did it in July of 2017, about as far away from an election as a House member ever gets,” said Sherman. “Now I’m making sure not to take a step backward. We had to either take a step backward or not take a step backward.”

Trump believes the Supreme Court will uphold overturn of Obamacare

Even though Dems are now in control of the House, they may soon get some very bad news from the Supreme Court.

President Donald Trump believes the high court will uphold a recent decision by a Texas judge that would render their prized Obamacare, also known as the Affordable Care Act, unconstitutional.

If that happens, Dems will have to work hand-in-hand with Republicans to create a new health care package for Americans.

In the Court’s Hands
One of the very first issues the Supreme Court will decide on when they start their new term this month is the decision by District Judge Reed O’Connor on Obamacare.

O’Connor deemed that the individual mandate part of the law unconstitutional.

Without that provision, Congress doesn’t have the authority from the Constitution to enact the rest of the law, meaning that the entire legislative package was struck down by the Texas judge.

Democrats Left Steaming
Democrats were furious when O’Connor handed down his decision.

They soon stated that they plan on appealing his decision ASAP.

But President Trump believes their appeals will be futile.

“That case from Texas should win in the Supreme Court,” Trump said.

“We should win at the Supreme Court, where this case will go. When we do, we will sit down with the Democrats and we will come up with great health care,” the president added.

The Irony of It All
It is pretty ironic that a Republican-controlled Congress, Senate, and White House failed to overturn Obamacare during Trump’s first two years.

Now, with Democrats in charge of the House, it would be a slap in the face for the one piece of Obama’s legacy that is still somewhat intact to come tumbling down while the blue party holds the majority.

But with a conservative tilt on the Supreme Court, it is hard to imagine this case coming down in Democrats’ favor.

They will no doubt cry to the high heavens about it, but they will finally have no other option than to do their jobs and compromise with the GOP on a solution — something they’ve failed to do for decades.

Hours after being sworn into office, newly elected Democratic Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib (MI) went on a profane rant threatening to impeach President Trump.
“People love you and you win. And when your son looks at you and says, ‘Momma, look you won. Bullies don’t win.’ And I said, ‘Baby, they don’t, because we’re gonna go in there and we’re gonna impeach the mother***er,’” said Tlaib at a MoveOn event near Capitol Hill.

Tlaib is the first Palestinian American elected to Congress and one of two Muslim women sworn in to the 116th Congress.

Tlaib’s comments, as Fox News points out, come after the Detroit Free Press published her op-ed which called for President Trump’s impeachment:

“President Donald Trump is a direct and serious threat to our country. On an almost daily basis, he attacks our Constitution, our democracy, the rule of law and the people who are in this country,” Tlaib wrote. “Each passing day brings more pain for the people most directly hurt by this president, and these are days we simply cannot get back. The time for impeachment proceedings is now.”
Tlaib wasn’t the only Democrat focused on impeachment yesterday.
In a desperate attempt to thwart the president’s agenda, Democratic Rep. Brad Sherman (CA) filed articles of impeachment against Trump..

Sherman accused the president of obstructing justice for firing disgraced, leaking FBI Director James Comey and intimidating Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

Sherman’s move prompted Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) to call out his colleague, writing on Twitter, “We knew they couldn’t help themselves. Rep. Sherman files articles of impeachment on the President. Dems are more focused on stopping Trump than building the Wall and helping the country.”

Canadian man arrested for trespassing at White House

A Canadian man was arrested on Wednesday for trespassing at the White House.

The man reportedly said he wanted to give President Donald Trump some Crown Royal whiskey.

Odd Visit
Just after midnight on Wednesday, Yianny Georgopoulos allegedly moved a barricade to get to the White House.

He received several warnings from Secret Service that he was in a restricted area.

Eventually, Georgopoulos was arrested and questioned.

He told authorities he just wanted to drop off a couple of bottles of booze for the president, a strange gift given that it is widely known that President Trump has never touched a drop of alcohol in his life.

Georgopoulos allegedly also wanted Trump to help him find a wife.

But while these requests may be somewhat comical, the trespasser isn’t as innocent as he seems.

Deranged
According to reports, Georgopoulos was recently arrested for both stalking and threatening family members.

This makes it clear how dangerous life is for both Trump and Secret Service agents protecting him.

With a new year always comes prognostications and we have a doozy.

John LeBoutillier, a former Republican Congressman, predicts that President Donald Trump will be forced out of the White House in 2019, leaving space for a new and unexpected candidate to take control of the White House.

Harsh Criticisms
LeBoutiller was less than complimentary of Trump in his op-ed for The Hill.

Much of what he believes will happen is because two of the individuals who many thought were “controlling” Trump — former SecDef James Mattis and former Chief of Staff John Kelly — have resigned from the administration.

Now that they are gone, LeBoutiller believes Trump will attempt to carry out many of the plans he has threatened in the past without anyone getting in his way.

LeBoutiller has also predicted a massive downturn in the economy due to skepticism about Trump’s policies.

He specifically cited the “trade wars” Trump is creating with perceived allies of the United States.

Legal problems are also brewing for the president, according to LeBoutiller.

With Mueller reportedly wrapping up his special counsel investigation, the former GOP Congressman believes much of Trump’s private life — meaning his private business dealings — will land him in even more trouble.

LeBoutiller went so far as to say that Trump put himself up for sale to the highest bidder to win this election.

LeBoutiller also believes that the Democrats will need to pick a new face for 2020, naming former Texas Rep. Beto O’Rourke as a “formidable candidate.”

O’Rourke, however, is the same Democrat senatorial candidate that could not even win within his own state.

A new candidate will emerge from the Republican party as well, LeBoutiller predicts, as he says Trump will not even make it past June of this year.

But the “Trump hangover” will create upheaval in the party, dooming it for the 2020 presidential election and beyond.

Mind you, this is all conjecture from someone that obviously hates Trump and is hoping for the worst just so he can say, “I told you so.”
