God puts people in your life

Acts 18:3 And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and
wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers.

Paul Saul who was previously been known by his second name from his Jewish
mother’s side, was latter known by his Roman, first name, from his father’s
side. He did this because he realized being a Jew or Roman did not matter
but his faith and walk in the Lord did.

Paul was previously set to become a Rabbi so was under training with one of
the best teachers of Jewish traditions / religious laws. After his
encounter with the Lord for 3 days he was physically blinded but
spiritually the Lord opened his eyes to the true understanding of
scriptures. It was after this that Paul Saul boldly preached Jesus Christ
from the OT scriptures.

Even though the Lord directly ministered to Paul yet he was not perfect in
his understanding, we see later the Lord brings a couple Aquila and
Priscilla into his life. It is this couple (especially Priscilla) who were
instruments in bettering Paul’s understanding and improving his ways of
ministering to people. This couple being of the same trade was not a
coincident, if they were not then they would not have interacted with Paul
and helped him.

God works people into our lives, our surroundings, our professions, our
social network etc. these people are not by mistake. They are put by the
Lord to spiritually improve us or may even be spiritual dumbbells that make
our faith stronger.

Let us bless everyone in our lives and thank God for them, they are not by
mistake but by plan, His plan.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God and everything is by You, or by your knowledge. Every
person in our lives is by You and they have a purpose in building us. At
times they may seem as disastrous but You Lord make way from all things and
through it teach us. Lord we pray we always remember You are in control and
that we always thank people like Priscilla who quicken our spiritual
growth...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Acts 18:1-2,18,26
1 After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth;
2 And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from
Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all
Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them.
18 And Paul after this tarried there yet a good while, and then took his
leave of the brethren, and sailed thence into Syria, and with him Priscilla
and Aquila; having shorn his head in Cenchrea: for he had a vow.
26 And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and
Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the
way of God more perfectly.

Romans 16:3 Greet Priscilla and Aquila my helpers in Christ Jesus:

1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is
common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted
above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to
escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Can Christ dwell in our hearts?

Ephesians 3:17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye,
being rooted and grounded in love,

In our previous two messages we learnt that Jews not being spiritual but
religious people rejected Christ, we also learnt that God is Spirit and
only those who know Him in Spirit and Truth are His and will be reconciled
unto Him. Our today’s message goes on the same line.

Today’s message speaks of ‘Christ dwelling in our hearts’. The moment the
word heart is mentioned people think the natural organ. Like I said before
to understand biblical words we need to go to its Hebrew roots (even if
given in NT), in OT the words translated as ‘heart’ mostly refer to the
inner-man, reins (emotional control), natural heart and even kidney. What
is interesting is the term love is related more to the organ kidney than
the natural heart. It is righteousness that is more related to the natural
heart (pump that separately sends the good and bad blood to its respective
destination, helping to purify / oxidize / edify the system). When we see
through the Bible lens we see the foolishness of man and his worldly wisdom.

If we read the verse just before today’s message it speaks of the spirit
man within us. The heart, today’s message speaks of is not our natural
heart but is our spirit man. Christ does not dwell in our natural body but
in our spirit man (not to be confused with our spirit), also called soul.

I have done quite a deep study on the inner-man. It has a body and various
parts, like our natural body does and these parts interact with each other
and support each other. Like our brain controls our natural body and guides
it, in our spiritual body it is not our knowledge and understanding that
controls our spirit man but it is our will that does. Even if we have all
the knowledge and understanding of the Kingdom of God but if the Will of
God is not our will then we are not considered ‘in the Lord’ or in other
words ‘God does not dwell in us’.

When we say Christ is in us or the His Spirit dwells in us then His Will
should be enthroned on our will meaning our inner nature or thoughts, our
behavior, our desires etc. needs to be Christ like. We may grow gradually
but then we need to pursue it, it needs to be in us, needs to be alive and
radiating with us. It is like a light which cannot be hidden.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord, You are God and You are Spirit. Lord we pray we realize that the
things concerning the Spirit are actual and more real than the things of
the natural. Your Word guides us to seek the treasures of the Spirit than
the things of the natural. Natural treasures will perish but those of the
Spirit will not, they only grow within us. Lord we pray we dwell more as
spirit beings and less as natural beings...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Ephesians 3:16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his
glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;

Genesis 6:5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth,
and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart [leb - inner man]
was only evil continually.

Exodus 23:9 Also thou shalt not oppress a stranger: for ye know the heart
of a stranger, seeing ye were strangers [nephesh - soul] in the land of
Egypt.

Psalms 40:8 I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my
heart [me‘ah - internal organ].

Break free from bondages of worshiping nature

Galatians 4:9 But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of
God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye
desire again to be in bondage?

In today’s message Paul speaks of the Galatians as being pagan worshippers
before and now have returned to again worshiping nature by observing days
[natural days], months [moons] and times [seasons] and years [period of
time].

We as Christian belittle God when we restrict Him to an area, race, period,
time, object etc… when we do that we actually as Paul says put aside God
and make that area, race, period, time, object etc… as gods.

Jesus was hated by Jews because He did not observe the traditions and
beliefs of the Jews. The Jews due to their lack of understanding of
scriptures followed them in the letter and not in its spirit; one of them
was the law of the Sabbath.

The Jews had / have a book explaining the law of Sabbath, which is fatter
than the Torah. They knew it was impossible to abide in every aspect of the
law in letter so created means and ways to justify their failures by
misinterpreting the text.

We also read of cases like Paul pulling up Peter on enforcing the Jewish
custom of circumcision on the Gentile Christians and of the Lord opening
the mind of Peter towards so called ‘clean’ and ‘unclean’ food being edible
and do not defile the spirit person.

God is God of all creation and is not a respecter of man, irrespective of
race, age, personality, riches, fame etc. For Him all are created by Him
but yet all are not His people, only those who have faith in Him and His
Word are considered His people. He does not punish those who do not
know/reject Him; they punish themselves through their deeds. God only
judges and punishes those who know Him and yet reject Him and His Word.

In today’s message Paul warns us of using back doors of rejecting God by
worshiping nature in the name of God. If we are observing natural days,
moons and seasons and period of time, or even races as chosen then we are
deforming the principals of God and thus worshiping gods and not the Lord.

Let us always remember God is Spirit and He desires people to worship Him
in Spirit and Truth. If we worship in the natural then we do not please Him.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord, You alone are God and there is none other than You. Flesh and bones
cannot inherit the Heavens for You are Spirit and the Heavens is a spirit
place. Your Word says unless we are born again in spirit we cannot enter
your Kingdom. Our natural body becomes dust but we exist. Lord we pray we
renew our minds, our understanding so that we do not fail to enter your
Kingdom. After knowing You, we do not have an excuse to do the things we
did before we knew You...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Galatians 4:8-10
8 Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by
nature are no gods.
9 But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how
turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again
to be in bondage?
10 Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years.

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the
power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first,
and also to the Greek.

Colossians 3:11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor
uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and
in all.

Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor
free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

Colossians 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in
respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath day:

Jesus whom the Jews rejected

Acts 28:23,24 And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to
him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of
God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and
out of the prophets, from morning till evening. And some believed the
things which were spoken, and some believed not.

In the OT the Hebrew word Jerusalem is written with 2 spellings (ways),
when we track the context of the writings we find it was intentional.

The word ‘Jew’ comes from the word Judah, the people of Judah were called
Jews and Jerusalem was the capital of Judah. The people of Israel of which
Samaria was the capital were called Samarians. The term ‘Jews’ changed its
context from being territorial to being religious, since the people of
Judah were super religious and claimed to follow scriptures and traditions
of the elders, while the Samaritan were more secular and incorporated
traditions and beliefs of other religions into their fold. Galilee was a
Samarian city and center for this concoction therefore hated most by the
Jews. Jews were more orthodox and traditions focused, this caused them to
move from the understanding of the Bible to forming a religion called
Judaism. Judaism like Islam and Catholicism may refer to people and events
in the Bible but has nothing to do with the understanding of the Bible.
Like Catholics worship the Pope as a god so also did /do the Jews to Moses.
Killing of Stephen was due to this factor.

One needs to know the character Lord Jesus Christ and compare this with the
one whom we or people believe and follow. Jews worship Yahweh but do not
know who Yahweh is (the word YHWH means Behold the Hand Behold the Nail).
The Muslims believe Isa is Jesus but their Isa has no relationship with
Jesus other than some things cut pasted and distorted from the Bible. The
Catholic Jesus also is not related to the biblical ‘Jesus’, this may sound
weird but is a fact.

We have some Christian of Jewish origin calling themselves as ‘Messianic
Jews’ and is something like calling oneself ‘Christian Hindus’ - the term
Hindus originally meant people dwelling near the river Hind but now refers
to a belief / way of spiritual life. It was later in 18 century that people
called all local beliefs as Hinduism. In the Bible we see all those who
accepted Christ and followed Him were called Christian and nothing else
added unto it.

In today’s message we see even after a whole day session by Paul explaining
Jesus from the Old Testament scriptures yet we find not all accepted Jesus,
nor did most do, only some did. This problem is not restricted to people of
other religions but even among Believers we find people do not follow the
Jesus of the Bible but have varying understandings of Jesus.

Let us put aside the human interpretation and only stick to what the
scriptures say. We cannot remove anything or add anything to Him that is
not written in the Word of God, the moment we do that we change the Jesus
into another Jesus and another Christ. Jesus said it is His Spirit who will
reveal more of Him, His teachings and make us more like Him.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord, You are God and You alone are God. Your Word says You are One God and
yet we know You as Father, Son and Spirit. Lord we pray your people
understand You more and more and have power in You. We pray a renewal of
our minds and a cleanliness of all the worldly garbage we carry in our
understandings...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Luke 24:27 And beginning from Moses and from all the prophets, he
interpreted to them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

Acts 28:25-29
25 And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that
Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Spirit by Esaias the prophet
unto our fathers,
26 Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall
not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive:
27 For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of
hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their
eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should
be converted, and I should heal them.
28 Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto
the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.
29 And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great
reasoning among themselves.

Acts 18:28 for he powerfully confuted the Jews, and that publicly, showing
by the scriptures that Jesus was the Christ.

John 8:48-49
48 Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that thou
art a Samaritan, and hast a devil?
49 Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my Father, and ye do
dishonour me.

Mark 3:7 But Jesus withdrew himself with his disciples to the sea: and a
great multitude from Galilee followed him, and from Judaea,

John 7:52 They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee?
Search, and look: for out of Galilee ariseth no prophet.

He gives the harvest

John 21:11 Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great
fishes, an hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, yet
was not the net broken.

Simon Peter and his brother were fishermen and we know from scriptures
Simon was a passionate fishermen who did not give up and who knew his
business well.

Costal fishes are found between the shoreline and deep sea where the oxygen
level is best maintained. But we see in two incidents Jesus breaks the
conventional and asks them to do the unconventional, in the first incident
He tells them to go in the deeper waters and in the second incident He
tells them to throw the net towards the shallow region.

In the first incident the catch is so much that their net breaks and they
call for help from other fishers in another boat nearby. They come to help
catch the fishes and load both the boats but they find the weight causes
both the boats to start to sink.

In the second incident even after trying whole night they do not catch any
fish but on the instruction of Jesus they net 153 fishes (they were not
small ones) and yet their net does not tear.

We struggle to bring people to the Lord because we use our conventional
worldly means, approach and understanding. Even the people we bring to
Church land up being good religious people but not people on fire for the
Kingdom of God.

Let us remember He is the Lord of the Harvest. Even though He commands us
to reach out to the lost yet it is He who draws the lost unto us, it is He
who adds people unto us when we abide by His instructions.

Today the Lord is telling us not to struggle but just abide in Him and He
will make our work easy.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God and Lord of the Harvest. It is You Lord who brings your
children unto us when we abide in You. They are precious for You and that
is why You desire the right person to build them. Lord we pray we do not
lead goats but lead sheep which enter the Kingdom in Heaven...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
John 21:3-6
3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also
go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and
that night they caught nothing.
4 But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the
disciples knew not that it was Jesus.
5 Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered
him, No.
6 And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and
ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it
for the multitude of fishes.

Luke 5:4-9
4 Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the
deep, and let down your nets for a draught.
5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night,
and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.
6 And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes:
and their net brake.
7 And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship,
that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the
ships, so that they began to sink.
8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, Depart
from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.
9 For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the
fishes which they had taken:

Acts 2:41 They then that received his word were baptized: and there were
added unto them in that day about three thousand souls.

Acts 2:47 praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord
added to them day by day those that were saved.

Acts 5:11-14
11 And great fear came upon the whole church, and upon all that heard
these things.
12 And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought
among the people; and they were all with one accord in Solomon’s porch.
13 But of the rest durst no man join himself to them: howbeit the people
magnified them;
14 and believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men
and women;

Acts 11:22-24
22 And the report concerning them came to the ears of the church which was
in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas as far as Antioch:
23 who, when he was come, and had seen the grace of God, was glad; and he
exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the
Lord:
24 for he was a good man, and full of the Holy Spirit and of faith: and
much people was added unto the Lord.

R.D SOUZA Saved by faith - Page 16 Empty Re: R.D SOUZA Saved by faith

Post  Admin Fri 13 Oct 2017, 9:48 am

The Oneness of God

1 Thessalonians 3:11 Now God himself and our Father, and our Lord Jesus
Christ, direct our way unto you.

Last Sunday I was preaching at a Church in another city and the topic that
was given to me was about the transformed man having a glorious body in
Heaven (Philippians 3:21).

Some of the questions I put forth to the Church caused them to change their
thinking.

Who all will live in our mansion which Jesus said exists and He will ready
for us in Heaven?
Will it be we with our parents and children?
If Bible says we will worship the Lord unceasingly in Heaven, then will we
not get bored? Worshiping in Church for 30mins - 45mins and people get
tired.
Since we do not get married in Heaven to each other then we will not be
having children, if so then what will we be doing through our eternal lives
there?

Man is a carnal being, his thoughts are carnal in nature and even his
interpretations of scriptures are carnal. It is only the Holy Spirit who
can reveal the scriptures with its true understanding.

We see people use their carnal (earthly) wisdom towards understanding God.
In both the extremes they fail. Some believe in ‘Jesus Only’, stating Jesus
is the Father, Son and Spirit, the others go the opposite direction of
‘Trinity’, physically there exist 3 gods with one nature. They both fail to
know Jesus and also fail to know God.

There is one question I ask people which most fail to answer. When we enter
Heaven will we see the man Jesus there?

Jesus said HE CAME FROM the Father and HE WILL RETURN to the Father when He
has completed His mission of saving man.
He said He and the Father ARE ONE.
Everywhere in the Bible it says we receive THE SPIRIT OF THE SON, whom we
call the HOLY SPIRIT and yet Jesus called the Holy Spirit ‘Father’.
Jesus said NO BEING (no living being, not just man) HAS SEEN THE HEAVENLY
FATHER other than the Son.
Evil spirits called Him GOD THE SON (meaning ‘OF GOD’) and He charged them
not to reveal this to man.
Most think Yahweh refers to the Father while the word YHWH is an ideogram
which means ‘Behold the Hand, Behold the Nail’.

In today’s message we see Paul chooses to eliminate the Holy Spirit as the
one who leads us, but opts to name only the Father and Lord Jesus Christ,
even though it is Paul who in Romans that it is the Holy Spirit who leads
us and transforms us into Sons of God.

Let us not use carnal earthly approach towards Heavenly things which are
spirit. Let us first understand the basic as to what a spirit is. When we
say the Holy Spirit dwells in us, what do we mean by it?

[Prayer Starter]
Lord, You are God and You alone are God. When Moses and Jacob asked You
your name, You said ‘I am, who I am’. Lord, help us understand the
difference between earthly and spiritual worlds. Help us understand all
that is earthly will perish and only spirit man from this creation will
exist. Those who are of the Father will enter Heaven to have access to the
Tree of Life and live eternally, while the other will live their spirit
life to it end, suffering their sins and for not doing the Will of the
Father...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Philippians 3:20-21
20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the
Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:
21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his
glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue
all things unto himself.

John 14:2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I
would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

Romans 15:6 That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 1:3 Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and
from the Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Thessalonians 4:8 He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but
God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.

Galatians 4:6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of
his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

Philippians 1:19 For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through
your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,

Acts 2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will
pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters
shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men
shall dream dreams:

John 1:14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us (and we beheld his
glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father), full of grace and
truth.

John 6:46 Not that any man [being] hath seen the Father, save he that is
from God, he hath seen the Father.

John 14:10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in
me? the words that I say unto you I speak not from myself: but the Father
abiding in me doeth his works.

Revelation 21:22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God the
Almighty, and the Lamb [the Greek word does not refer a lamb the animal but
comes from the word man], are the temple thereof.

Ephesians 4:9-10
9 (Now this, He ascended, what is it but that he also descended into the
lower parts of the earth?
10 He that descended is the same also that ascended far above all the
heavens, that he might fill all things.)

Galatians 3:20 Now a mediator is not (a mediator) of one; but God is one.

Ephesians 4:6 one God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all,
and in all.

The great Paul did fall

Acts 18:18 And Paul after this tarried there yet a good while, and then
took his leave of the brethren, and sailed thence into Syria, and with him
Priscilla and Aquila; having shorn his head in Cenchrea: for he had a vow.

Paul was a great spiritual man, having very good scriptural understanding
and was also a guide unto other of his colleagues in this matter. In fact
we see he rebuked his colleagues i.e. Peter for acting in the flesh when it
pertained to spiritual matters. Paul was very clear traditions are like
bondages to the spirit man. He was not against statutes but knew the
difference between statutes and traditions. He rebuked Peter right before a
congregation when Peter (along with a few others) was promoting
circumcision (as essential) to new Christians.

But we see Paul in today’s message did a mistake himself by cutting his
hair has a symbol of completing a vow. This was not the only fall of Paul,
in fact he did the same mistake once again under the influence of other in
Acts 21, Paul’s second this led to him getting arrested and there on to be
taken to Rome to be a martyr.

People say God makes temptations into opportunities of blessings, like in
this case if Paul had not done this mistake he would have not got arrested,
not be taken to Rome, not allowed to preach there, that too under official
protection, not able to witness before Caesar (as Paul desired to) and thus
set the pace for Christianity to spread all around the world through the
Roman Christians.

Did God run out of options that He needed Paul to make a mistake for the
betterment of His Kingdom?

NO, God does allow us to make mistakes but does not desire we make
mistakes. Jesus as man was also taken the wilderness by the Holy Spirit to
be to be weakened and tempted but He did not make a mistake and fall to the
temptation, but stood strong on the Word and overcame it.

When we make mistakes God at times lets us fall so as to be a testimony
unto others, but even in the fall He makes available doors of blessings as
an exit for us. Yes, there will be times we may spiritual fall but then
they are not what God desires. A few times He may ignore but then will pull
us up. God desires a perfect walk of righteousness but then in His mercy He
does salvage our failures.

Paul was let scout free at the first mistake but then was taken to task at
his second, even though he was pulled up on the second yet God blessed him.

Let us not look forward for God to salvage our failures, but let us walk in
His walks perfectly like Jesus Christ did, standing strong on the Word and
with the help of the Holy Spirit.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord, You are Holy and Perfect God thus never change. You Lord desire your
children to also be holy. We pray lord we do not take your grace for
granted and keep making mistakes especial those before your people or
against your Name, which You least tolerate. We pray we walk steadfast in
your ways by holding on to your Word and your Spirit like Jesus Christ as
man did...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Acts 21:23-24
23 Do therefore this that we say to thee: We have four men which have a
vow on them;
24 Them take, and purify thyself with them, and be at charges with them,
that they may shave their heads: and all may know that those things,
whereof they were informed concerning thee, are nothing; but that thou
thyself also walkest orderly, and keepest the law.

Galatians 2:9-11
9 And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived
the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right
hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the
circumcision.
10 Only they would that we should remember the poor; the same which I also
was forward to do.
11 But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face,
because he was to be blamed.

1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is
common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted
above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to
escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Hebrew 12:12-13
12 Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;
13 And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be
turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.

God knows the heart

Acts 15:8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving
them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;

When the Bible says heart, it refers to the inner-man also called soul.
Like our body has a form which identifies us so also our spirit has a form
which is the soul and it is the soul that is the identity of the person.
When Bible says God knows us by name, this name does not mean our earthly
name but speaks of the soul and it is by this understanding Peter stated
today’s verse boldly.

The Lord had made me to study the soul quiet deeply and write about it. As
our earthly body has various parts so also does our soul (5 parts), knowing
them gives us better advantage in our spiritual fight since the soul is our
battle field.

Genesis 2 says when God created man out of dust and breath a spirit in him,
his soul became alive. Our soul is moldable only till our natural body is
alive. Sin corrupts our soul and God tries to restore it. The image of God
in us, or we becoming Sons of God matters on the condition of our soul.
Once we die we cannot change or amend our soul, thus if we want to save a
person we need to do so while the person is alive. Praying or fasting for a
death person is like putting water on a rock and hoping it will grow.

God is omnipresent not only in space (that means He is everywhere) but also
in time (thus He knows all). If we understand this we will be assured that
God did not make a mistake by choosing us to know Him. If He has taken us
along a journey of change He already knows how we will reach our
destination. He does not see what we are today but sees what we will finish
into at the end. Today’s message talks of God knowing the finished us, He
sees us in Christ, better put Christ in us. Today’s message talks of Him
confirming this by giving us the most precious gift, His Spirit. It is the
Spirit of the Son who molds us as Him and confirms our entry into Heaven.

Jesus Christ is our RSVP invitation to Heaven; our receiving and abiding in
His Spirit is our assurance of going to Heaven. Jesus Christ by His
sacrifice has made the invitation available to all mankind. If anyone
desires to go to Heaven must accept this invitation (Jesus Christ) by
having faith in Him. We also need to receive His Spirit promised to us on
receiving the invitation. Let all who have not accepted His invitation do
so while they are alive, and all those who have received must confirm
themselves by their baptism in the Holy Spirit.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Awesome God. You are perfect and You desire perfection in us.
Because of your love You have made a way through your Spirit for us to be
restored and made perfect in You. Lord help us understand the importance of
your Spirit and understand unless we surrender to You, to be molded by You,
there is no assurance of us entering Heaven and being reunited unto You...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Genesis 2: 7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and
breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Acts 15:5-9
5 But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed,
saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep
the law of Moses.
6 And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter.
7 And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto
them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice
among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel,
and believe.
8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the
Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;
9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by
faith.

Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that
believeth not shall be damned.

Mark 1:4 John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of
repentance for the remission of sins.

John 1:33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water,
the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and
remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Spirit.

John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be
born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Romans 8:12-14
12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after
the flesh.
13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the
Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Betraying with a kiss

Luke 22:48 But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man
with a kiss?

Yesterday I was in my Church prayer room for 24x7days chain prayer and the
organizing team had put up verses from 2 Peter 2:1-3 on one of the walls
(various points are put on ‘walls’ / charts) and this scripture on false
prophets and teachers struck me. A question came to me what if I am one of
those misleading people without knowing? Then as I was meditating on the
scripture, it spoke a very serious point which today’s message also tells
us.

Verse 3 of 2 Peter 2 speaks of the clue to identify a false prophet or
false teacher. The clue says for ‘their desire for profit they will come to
you with words of deceit’. This profiting would be in form of riches, fame
and pleasure of the eye, taste, touch or smell.

So now if we look at all the preachers, prophets, apostles, pastors etc.
who have done ministry and have changed their lifestyle through the
ministry, they are most likely to be listed amongst these false prophets
and teachers. That includes almost all of them and that is scary.

To be blessed through the ministry is the right of the minister but as the
Bible states the priest was allowed only a hand full, which means that
which was necessary for him and his family’s needs (not desires). There are
people like Paul who preferred not to take even that but to be a vessel for
God to bless them for not only their own needs but even the needs of their
colleagues.

Judas did not betray the Lord but betrayed the Son of Man. The Lord cannot
be betrayed since the word ‘betray’ means to give into another’s hand and
no man has power over the Lord. We can betray others who trust us or
entrust themselves unto us; we also can betray our own selves. Since Jesus
as Son of Man had become a servant unto man thus He could be given in the
hands of His enemies by Judas. What is also important to note is that Judas
did this with a kiss. The Greek word kiss comes from the word love /
fellowship. Judas’ did love Jesus and was among those who left their homes,
families to follow Him but Judas’ love was more towards material things
than towards Jesus and it was this greater love that led him to betray
Jesus.

If you find a preacher who has changed his or her lifestyle through their
ministry, it is time to think again about following that person.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord, You are God and a Holy God. If an anointed Cherub like Lucifer could
fall by a simple desire of greed then we humans are nothing before it.
Lord, You demand a sacrifice of oneself so that we overcome this great evil
called greed. Help us to be spiritually watchful and set people around us
who will keep a watch on us if we stray away from the path...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
2 Peter 2:1-3
1 But there were false prophets among the people, as there will be false
teachers among you, who will secretly put forward wrong teachings for your
destruction, even turning away from the Lord who gave himself for them;
whose destruction will come quickly, and they themselves will be the cause
of it.
2 And a great number will go with them in their evil ways, through whom
the true way will have a bad name.
3 And in their desire for profit they will come to you with words of
deceit, like traders doing business in souls: whose punishment has been
ready for a long time and their destruction is watching for them.

John 13:26-31
26 Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have
dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot,
the son of Simon.
27 And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him,
That thou doest, do quickly.
28 Now no man at the table knew for what intent he spake this unto him.
29 For some of them thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus had
said unto him, Buy those things that we have need of against the feast; or,
that he should give something to the poor.
30 He then having received the sop went immediately out: and it was night.
31 Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man
glorified, and God is glorified in him.

1 Corinthians 16:1-2
1 Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to
the churches of Galatia, even so do ye.
2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store,
as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings [hoarding] when I
come.

Only God is good

Luke 18:19 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is
good, save one, that is, God.

Today's scripture is one scripture that preachers avoid to discuss but
favourite of those who want to prove Jesus is not God. They will say see
Jesus said He is not 'good' and that God alone is, so He is not God.

The problem lies in our theological understanding of Jesus, who He
was-is and also the term holiness. There is no question of the Christian
belief that Lord Jesus Christ is God for there are many scriptures where
He has directly and indirectly claimed to be God but also there is no
question about Him being man or Son of Man. John in his second letter
clearly states any person who does not believe the Lord Jesus Christ did
not (fully) come in the flesh (become fully man), that person is a
deceiver and has the spirit of the antichrist. The problem lies in
understanding between both the facts.

Paul tries to explain this in his letter to the church of Philippi
(Philippians 2:5-7). He says Christ Jesus was God (form of God), equal
(also translated as 'like' or 'as much as') to the Godhead (people read
it as the Father, which is wrong since in OT / NT the Son also calls the
Father as His Lord - Luke 20:42 and His God - Mark 15:34), made Himself
of no reputation (meaning 'empty' that is gave up His glory before our
creation - John 17:5), humbled Himself (it does not mean compromised His
Nature but keeping His Nature / Name / Image He became His creation) and
became man (came in the flesh). Note He humbled Himself long before He
became man. Bible says He became our sacrifice from the beginning of
creation (even before man had sinned or was created - Revelation 13:8)
and suffered for us since then (Hebrews 9:26). The crucifixion was just
a small visual manifestation of His great love.

As man Jesus was fully man that is why He grew in wisdom and Spirit
(Fruits and Gifts of the Holy Spirit - Luke 2:40). As man He called
Himself Son of Man. The term 'Son of God' means one who has the image of
God. We see this term is also used for Angles and for us when the work
of the Holy Spirit is completed in us. We see Jesus was also called God
(the Son) / Son God and when evil spirits tried to reveal His identity
He refrained them from doing so (i.e. Mark 3:11-12). In John 17 we read
in His prayer Jesus awaits the day when He regains His glory and becomes
who He was before He humbled Himself and this will happen when He
gathers us to Himself after Judgment Day (Heavenly Wedding).

Coming to the term translated here as 'good'; the Greek word for good is
'Kalos' (well, beautiful, fine, excellent etc. i.e. Matthew 5:16) or
'ischuo (strong, to have power i.e. Matthew 5:13). The word used here is
'agathos', used as opposite of evil like in Matthew 5:45 or as
perfection in Ephesians 5:9. In Ephesians 5:9 it is considered as
Holiness / Perfection a Fruit of the Holy Spirit along with
Righteousness and Truth (which we lost due to sin). These are not listed
along with the nine mentioned in Galatians since these three are given
as gifts and not earned / grown.

Only God (Godhead) is Holy and that is why in Heaven the heavenly beings
shout out to Him as 'Holy, Holy, Holy'. We as corrupt beings (sinners
who are forgiven but made incorruptible only on Judgment Day) are called
to know the truth, be righteous and be holy; that does not mean we
completely know the Truth or are totally Righteous or are fully Holy.
Like Jesus as man grew in Spirit so also we too grow in these and as
sons of man we will receive them in due time. After we receive Truth
from the Holy Spirit (by becoming and remaining Jesus' disciples by
growing the nine Fruits), we will receive Righteousness from the Son (on
Judgment Day) and then when we enter Heaven we receive Holiness from the
Father. That is why Jesus said when we become His disciples we will know
the Truth and the Truth will set us free.

In today's message Jesus spoke as man and thus He said only God is good
(holy). He did not say only the Father is Holy since the Holy Spirit
(who is God) is also good (holy). When Jesus regains His glory from His
emptiness (Father glorifies Him) and He manifest His original self then
He too will be good (holy). In Revelation we read at the end He is
seated on the throne (in glory) and all shout to Him ‘Holy, Holy, Holy’.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord God You alone are truly Holy. We pray Lord You quicken the Fruit of
Truth in us, so that when we completely know the truth we may receive
your Righteousness and Holiness as we are glorified in You...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
2 John 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess
not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an
antichrist.

Philippians 2:5-7
5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal
with God:
7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a
servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became
obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name
which is above every name:
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in
heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to
the glory of God the Father.

Luke 20:42 And David himself saith in the book of Psalms, The LORD said
unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,

Mark 15:34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying,
Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my
God, why hast thou forsaken me?

John 17:5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with
the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

Revelation 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him,
whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from
the foundation of the world.

Hebrews 9:26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation
of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to
put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

Luke 2:40 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with
wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.

Mark 3:11-12
11 And unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him, and
cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God [in Greek written as Son the God].
12 And he straitly charged them that they should not make him known.

Matthew 5:45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in
heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and
sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

righteousness and truth;)

Acknowledging the True God

Acts 17:34 Howbeit certain men clave unto him, and believed: among the
which was Dionysius the Areopagite, and a woman named Damaris, and
others with them.

Continuing the topic of knowing God and His Christ the Lord gave us this
scripture to meditate on for today.

As Paul was in Athens, looking at all the great idols made by man and
worshiped as gods, Paul chose to enlighten them about the True God and
His Christ. Paul did not censure them at their face but wisely (led by
the Holy Spirit) confronted their thinking and made them to reason or
question their belief. This caused a few people to personally interact
with Paul and believe him among them listed are two persons. These two
persons were not ordinary persons. One was a like a high court judge
designated specially to hear criminal cases but at times made to hear
other cases. These judges were famous the world over since they did not
respect the person on trial but concentrated only on the facts
presented. They can be equated to today's modern courts in a just country.

The other person mentioned a woman was a person on trial in his court
for murdering her husband and son by poisoning them. She justified her
act in court by giving her reason.

Here we see one person who drove the human law system and the other
person accused of breaking that law, both believed Paul. What is
interesting is the fact what Paul declared. We read in verse 31 Paul
says God designated a man to judge the righteous of the whole world, the
man whom He raised from death.

Note Paul addresses to Jesus even after His death and resurrection as a
'man'. Jesus Himself says He will judge the flock on Judgment Day as a
'Son of Man' and not as God (Son).

I have heard N number of tomes even from great preachers who claim to
have seen Jesus as a man in Heaven (as depicted in Catholic Church
pictures) with a majestic crown made of worldly precious stones and
precious metal, seated on throne again described as worldly thrones, but
grander. Before I knew god and His Kingdom including the Heavens I too
would get impressed with their testimony but after knowing the truth I
only feel sad for all those who believe them.

I question people after Judgment Day will they see the man Jesus in
Heaven. If they say 'yes' then I know they do not know Him.

When we know Christ and His sacrifice we will know the day He gathers us
back in Heaven He will NO LONGER be His creation but will gain back His
glory which He had before He created our creation. He will no longer be
the man Jesus but will only be Lord. So let us not even by mistake think
we are going to meet the man Jesus in Heaven, we are going to only meet
our Lord, our Creator.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord God You are One God. Lord a part of You humbled and became man to
lift man to take that place which You have ordained for man in Heaven,
something he cannot imagine or even dream of. You lift man not only in
place but also in spirit by transforming him to a greater creature. Lord
we pray we open our eyes to your plans and the things of Heaven, to know
even though we are unworthy yet it is by your grace we are made worthy...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]

Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him

Ephesians 3:9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the
mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who
created all things by Jesus Christ:

Colossians 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven,
and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones,
or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by
him, and for him:

Colossians 3:10 And have put on the new, which is renewed in knowledge
after the image of him that created him:

John 17:20-23
20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall
believe on me through their word;
21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee,
that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou
hast sent me.
22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may
be one, even as we are one:
23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and
that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as
thou hast loved me.

Revelation 4:2-5
2 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in
heaven, and one sat on the throne.
3 And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone:
and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an
emerald.
4 And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the
seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment;
and they had on their heads crowns of gold.
5 And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and
voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne,
which are the seven Spirits of God.

Worshiping Baal

Acts 17:23 For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an
altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye
ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.

People think Baal refers to Satan or some pagan god. In Greek the word
Baal means lord (owner, husband) and even in Hebrew it means the same.
If we look in OT the word (Baali) has been used even for the Lord to
prophesy His coming as man (Hosea 2:16). The word basically means an
unknown god.

When Moses and Jacob asked the Lord as to who He was or what is His name
He got upset and said 'I am who I am' and we see man named Him 'I AM'.
The Jews to identify they were referring to the Lord when they said 'I
am' so spoke the word 'I AM' with a different tone, as reverence so
people knew it was the Lord.

Many a times I ask people 'what was the name of Adam?' and they stare at
me. They do not realize Adam in Hebrew means 'man' and since he was the
first man he did not need a name so as to be identified from among
others, later the term 'man' became his name. When we say Adam we refer
to the first man. It was Adam who gave the first name when he called his
wife 'Eve'.

There is only one God and all the terms used to describe Him have become
His name. The word Yahweh also is not His name. The word in the Bible is
YHWH, the vowels were added later to make it pronounceable. In the
Hebrew language the alphabets are ideograms so each alphabet has a
meaning; when we put the meanings of the alphabets of YHWH we understand
what the Lord was telling us.

Y Nail - H behold - W Hand - H behold

When we put it together - Behold the Hand Behold the Nail (Christ)

Jesus also used the term 'I AM' to Himself (John 8:58). So people who
think YHWH is the Father are mistaken, it is the Son; also the one who
spoke to Abraham was Christ. Jesus said 'if you have seen me you have
seen the Father' for it is written 'no being has seen the Father other
than the Son' (John 1:18).

In Hebrew the word for name also means reputation or glory like it does
in the English language. So when we called to lift His Name up it does
not mean to shout the terms used for God in the Bible but means to
glorify Him by our living and our deeds (what He does through us).

God is God and there is none like Him. We can call Him anything but
everything we call Him should be worthy of Him. In Heaven we read the
Heavenly beings call out to Him Holy, Holy, Holy for there is none Holy
than Him. We should not use terms for Him which lower His glory.

Bible says Satan also knows who God is and trembles; he is no foolish
man to battle his creator. Bible says the evil in him wants to destroy
man thus he desires to become god over man so that he can bring us under
God's wrath. He battles God's plans in the life of man.

Let us know our God and it is by knowing Him that we can experience His
power in our lives. It is by us knowing Jesus that we know the Father.
Jesus is not only Lord but as man He is also the way to the Lord.

[Prayer Starter]
Father God there is none like You. You alone are God and You alone are
Holy. It is your love that a part of You humbled and became man so that
we could be gathered unto You. Lord we pray we understand and
acknowledge You alone as God and not bring You to wrath by bringing to
existence other gods...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.

Being concern for the lost

Luke 16:28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest
they also come into this place of torment.

Yesterday in India Hindus celebrated Gokulashtami which they consider as
the birth of their god Krishna. They celebrate it by making human
pyramids to break pots which are tied at great heights. This is symbolic
to their belief that this god as a child used to steal curds kept in
pots. In this celebration many people (by the hundreds) get injured,
some very serious factors and some even die; yet they celebrate this.
Hindus believe this as a blessing that pleases their gods and they also
believe if they die they come back as another person or creature so fear
of death is absent.

We Christians know natural life and death is a onetime event and once a
person dies he or she who is not in the Lord will go to Hell and will
suffer there. This fact brings fear in us which brings about repentance
and our holding on to the hope of being saved from Hell through the
sacrifice of Jesus Christ. If we were like the Hindus ignorant of it
would we have turned to Christ?

Two day back I was talking to a Hindu about penance, sacrificing for the
wrong we have done. I made him think if we can really do enough for any
wrong and then he realized it is not possible. In God's Kingdom a wrong
is a wrong irrespective of small or big and every wrong carries punishment.

It is ignorance or lack of concern that causes us to do foolish things
which become very expensive for us later. It is not that we do not know
right from wrong, we all know, but do not bother and care to believe in
it. No man can stand before God and say I did not know.

If we hold a knife the wrong way and cut ourselves can we blame the
knife or the maker of that knife for the injury? When we sin we may not
see the consequence of it immediately but every sin is like coal inside
our soul which will burn and cause us suffering if we go to Hell. In
Hell we cannot blame God for the suffering nor blame anyone other than
ourselves.

In today's message in the parable we see the rich man realizes the
consequence of his wrongs after he suffers them. We see he gets concern
about his family members who are still alive and still have a chance to
be saved from the suffering that awaits them in Hell. Being in Hell and
not able to reach them he asks help from Lazarus the beggar who is in
the bosom of Abraham (OT says 'gathered into his fathers /people').

God is life and there is life near to God, Hell being far from God
(God's glory) the person does not get renewal of life and suffers one's
sins until this life perishes (which by the way is thousands of natural
earth time years).

Let us understand anything we do today will affect or set the foundation
of our life after we die this natural death. Even if we believe in Jesus
Christ and are saved from Hell, let us not take our dwelling in Heaven
for granted. Let us understand Heaven is not one flat place but has many
levels (mansions) where we chose to dwell in by our obedience to the
will of the Father here on earth. We do not take our earthly riches or
our earthly fame to Heaven, the only thing that we take along is the
lost souls we have saved, they are our riches.

Let us not be like the foolish rich man to repent later but let us wake
up today to the fact of life after death. Let us work to save ourselves
and save those with us today and not when it is too late.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Righteous God. You hate sin for it is corruption and before
You no corruption can exist. We pray Lord we understand the consequence
of sin and the great salvation You have made possible to be saved from
Hell so that we do not pay for our sins. We pray also that we do not
take this for granted and understand Judgment Day and Heaven toady and
not when it is too late...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Luke 16:20-31

1 Peter 3:18-20
18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the
unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh,
but quickened by the Spirit:
19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God
waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few,
that is, eight souls were saved by water.

Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able
to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul
and body in hell.

John 14:2-4
2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would
have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and
receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

The Man with white clothing

Acts 10:24 And the morrow after they entered into Caesarea. And
Cornelius waited for them, and had called together his kinsmen and near
friends.

Today's message records an incident where the Lord opened the Church to
the Gentile nations through the hands of Peter by getting Cornelius a
Roman centurion of the Italian band (legion) to know Him.

Cornelius was aware of Christ for he was fasting with a purpose. He may
have seen other Jews do it and so imitated them but after about 4 days 9
hours an angel/man appears to him in white (bright) clothing. Cornelius
does not see the face or features of the man other than being wrapped
white (bright) clothing that is why he sticks to describing him as a man
wrapped in white (bright) clothing. It is the presence of this man that
makes Cornelius know this man is not ordinary thus immediately obeys his
instructions.

After resurrection when Jesus appeared to His disciples we see He
appeared in the flesh as they had seen Him. But later on when He
appeared to others who had not seen Him, He appeared as Angels do, as
bright light or a man whose face is not visible but covered with white
cloth. In Revelation 1 and Daniel 10 He is symbolically described and a
man with unnatural features.

Today we find pictures being circulated as Jesus. When we study the
natural features of an Israelite Jewish person and compare with the
picture of Jesus that has been circulated around we see the features do
not match. Jesus in the picture looks more European than an Israelite.

After the age of 30 Jesus took the oath of a Nazarene leaving His family
life and dedicating Himself for the work of His Father. He being a
Nazarene did not cut his hair so looked not too descent, in one
scripture He is described as a man of sorrow not desirable of men.

Before when I was yet Catholic and I had visions of Jesus, in them He
appeared as in the picture circulated by the Catholic Church, but later
when I grew spiritually and really came to know God, I have never saw
Jesus in visions as what the pictures showed, but as a spiritual being,
a outlined man or just light, knowing it is He.

Today if you were to encounter Jesus what would you see is what you will
restrict Him into your life. Paul did not see Jesus as Peter did or
spend time with Him like other Apostles did, yet he knew Jesus better.
Jesus said 'blessed in the man who has not seen me yet believes'. So
which Jesus do you want to have an encounter with, the man in the flesh
or the Lord who rules the Heavens?

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God of the Heavens and of all creation. A part of You
humbled yourself and became man in the flesh. As man You were fully man
and a cornerstone to all mankind. You studied and grew in Spirit and
wisdom as man. We pray we become like You when You were man in flesh but
worship and know You as Lord of the Hosts, as Lord of the Heavens...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.

Refreshing others

Acts 27:3 And the next day we touched at Sidon. And Julius courteously
entreated Paul, and gave him liberty to go unto his friends to refresh
himself.

We read in today's message Paul who was arrested by the Romans was given
the freedom to do his work in the Lord's Kingdom. Paul knew he was been
taken to be martyred yet he was more concern with refreshing others.

Almost all of us, if we were in Paul's place would have been in
depression and gloom. Serving others when things are favorable for us is
something we all can do but serving others when things are against us
requires the truth to be in us. It is only when we know the truth (not
complete but at least substantial) that we can do things like what Paul
did. Paul never claimed to know everything but what he knew, he knew was
right and true for he confirmed all things. It was not just because
Christ appeared to him many times that Paul had confidence in what he
knew. Although Paul had professional training in studying scriptures by
the best Jewish teacher yet he realized all what he knew had to be
relearnt. After the Lord opened his spiritual eyes Paul reinvestigated
all scriptures, he even took help of his team; they discussed scriptures
and made notes which they shared with others. Paul was also corrected by
people like Aquila and Priscilla in his understanding of scriptures.

We do not see the same fire in us for the Kingdom of God as Paul had,
all because we do not have the truth is us; we hold more falsehood than
the truth. We are filled with teachings of man than with understanding /
revelation that comes from God. We read scriptures yet fail to
understand. Like it is written a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump
so also our little human understanding destroys the little truth in us.

We behave like Muslims who read their Quran Surah 19 Maryam, Ayah 30-33
which states:-

He said: "I am indeed a servant of Allah: He hath given me revelation
and made me a prophet; "And He hath made me blessed wheresoever I be,
and hath enjoined on me Prayer and Charity as long as I live; "(He) hath
made me kind to my mother, and not overbearing or miserable; "So peace
is on me the day I was born, the day that I die, and the day that I
shall be raised up to life (again)"!

Yet they say Isa (Jesus) was not killed and did not resurrect! They do
this because some preacher or Islamic scholar amongst them claimed Jesus
was not crucified. They claim he did not die but was lifted up because
another ayah of theirs says Isa will come back before the end comes to
bring peace to all Muslims by killing the Jews and Christians. They do
not want to forsake the later verse so are in a dilemma to explain the
previous verse.

We Christian want the blessings of God more in this world than in the
world promised to us so we behave like Muslim playing with scriptures
trying to change things so that our point of view is believed by others
than by us. We mislead others to that we can be misled, making them
believe what we want to believe.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God that never changes. You, Your Name (Nature), Your Word
and Truth never changes and is always the same. Lord we pray we
understand by our changing things the truth will never change, but we
will one day fall flat on our face. Let us have the courage to hold on
to the truth come what may. Give us the courage to realize this world is
temporary and we have nothing that we can take with us other than lost
souls...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Acts 9:19-22
19 And when he had received meat, he was strengthened. Then was Saul
certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus.
20 And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the
Son of God.
22 But Saul increased the more in strength, and confounded the Jews
which dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is very Christ.

Acts 18:26 And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when
Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded
unto him the way of God more perfectly.

2 Timothy 4:11-13
11 Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is
profitable to me for the ministry.
12 And Tychicus have I sent to Ephesus.
13 The cloke that I left at Troas with Carpus, when thou comest, bring
with thee, and the books, but especially the parchments.

1 Corinthians 5:6 Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little
leaven leaveneth the whole lump?

1 Corinthians 13:9-12
9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part
shall be done away.
11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I
thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I
know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

Chatting in the prayer room!

Acts 16:13 And on the sabbath we went out of the city by a river side,
where prayer was wont to be made; and we sat down, and spake unto the
women which resorted thither.

If Paul and his team were visiting a Church today and doing what they
did in today’s message, they would have had people watching them with
raised eyebrows as to why they do not respect the sanctity of a prayer
room! They come in and start to chat that too with the women!

Paul and his team were fellowshipping with the people in different
places as they traveled around. The Apostle had their priority set but
today’s churches’ follows them in the reverse order.

We read the Apostles followed the following in that respective order
(Acts 2:42)

Doctrine (teaching) by the Apostles
Fellowshipping (connecting with each other)
Breaking of bread (sharing the Word and themselves with each other /
serving)
Prayer

When we look at our Churches today, teaching of the Word is the last
thing that happens. When I am called to preach, many a times I hear
people say ‘he was teaching instead of preaching’. What people like to
hear is someone prophesying good things from the podium. One has to
shout blessings and healings and that person is praised as a great
preacher. If that person speaks correction more than two through the
word (our people can take max one or two corrections) then they will
shun that person as being insane.

Fellowshipping is not socializing. The Greek word for fellowshipping
comes from the word ‘to partake’. It is about being party to the joy and
sorrow in the lives of each other. We in churches have learnt to create
an artificial lifestyle and share that as part of fellowshipping
(socializing).

‘Breaking of Bread’ calls for applying the Word in one’s life and
sharing this Word / life with others. It is less to do with the statute
of sharing bread but more to do with sharing the Word.

It is after all these that prayer is given importance in the Church as a
community. The fact we Christians do not have an continual personal
prayer relationship with God (communicating with Him throughout the day)
that we fool ourselves by justifying short meetings as prayer meetings
where people shout long prayers, repeating the same thing N number of times.

Praying as a community is helpful to teach those who do not know to pray
or have problems in praying, but when spiritually mature people gather
regularly to pray then it is a matter of concern for it shows the lack
of faith. When mature spiritual people gather to pray the world should
feel the tremors of their crying out to the Lord.

Christ came to restore our dominance in this world by making us kings
again but we are so filled with beggar mentality that our prayers are
less filled with faith and more filled with pleadings. The reason is we
do not know our God since we do not know His Word.

It is not ‘if prayer is our lifestyle then miracles will be our
lifestyle’ but ‘if faith is our lifestyle then miracles will be our
lifestyle’. Prayer without faith is just blabbering before God. So to
build faith let us concentrate on knowing the Word of God,
fellowshipping and sharing ourselves with each other as one body.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God that understands only one language, a language of
faith. Lord we pray our meetings are less prayer meetings and more
meetings of revelation of your Word, meetings of fellowshipping with You
and with others, meetings of becoming one body in mind and spirit...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Acts 2:42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and
fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

Mark 12:38-40
38 And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes, which
love to go in long clothing, and love salutations in the marketplaces,
39 And the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost rooms at
feasts:
40 Which devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayers:
these shall receive greater damnation.

Mark 11:24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when
ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

James 5:15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord
shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be
forgiven him.

Why Twelve?

Matthew 26:20 Now when the even was come, he sat down with the twelve.

Even though there were many disciples who followed Jesus yet we see
Jesus concentrated on the twelve which He had handpicked. From these
twelve we find one of them betrayed Him and He was aware of that from
day one of choosing him, yet He put the same efforts on that person as
He did with the others.

Yes among the twelve there were three namely Peter, John and James who
were given special attention and we understand the reason being, later
these three administered the Jewish Christians and were part of the core
group which monitored the whole Christian Church (Paul and Barnabas
administered to the Gentile Christians). So like the three were these
twelve special?

Other than the twelve there were others who played greater role in the
initial Church building like Paul, Barnabas, Silas, Luke, Timothy etc...

It is only when we understand OT do we understand the NT better. The
twelve Apostles were a shadow of the shadow that is the twelve tribes of
Israel. Like Joseph was replaced with his sons so also Judas was
replaced by casing lots. They did this to just fulfill prophecy nothing
else; for the person who replaced Judas wasn't greater than any other
among the initial Christ followers. No doubt eleven among the twelve
were martyred but martyrdom was also the case of many others who there
around 70AD and specially those who were prominent in building the
Church across the world.

In Revelation we read in description of Heaven, it speaks of the
foundation of Heaven is based on the twelve Apostles and we read the
foundation names 12 gems which were used to identify the twelve tribes
of Israel on the breast plate of the High Priest dress.

Twelve Apostles or twelve tribes or twelve gates or twelve stars etc.
are symbolic to understand the most important things of Heaven something
the Church has ignored since years. It is this lack of knowledge which
has cause divisions, denominations and cults amongst us.

God is Spirit, His Kingdom is not of this world and the things of this
world are irrelevant in His Kingdom this is one thing that needs to be
drilled into the minds of every Christian. So like all the riches of
this world are a hurdle to our journey to Heaven so also the fame and
glory of this world hinder our journey to Heaven.

Those who think famous preachers and evangelist will have a grand entry
to Heaven are mistaken. Many of them have already received their reward
here. Most preachers and evangelist are making believers and disciples
of themselves not for Christ, such disciples will not entry Heaven and
even if that preacher himself or herself enters Heaven he or she will be
penniless there.

A true follower of Christ is the one who builds people, who makes
disciples for Christ and not disciples for oneself.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Almighty God. You God are competent to do all things in a
moment yet You Lord use man to build your Kingdom. You God while
building your Kingdom build those whom You use for building your Kingdom
for they are your Kingdom. Lord let us understand the importance of
building people in You, bringing people to the knowledge of the hope in
You is just the start of our work. Let us understand a Church is place
to send people out to build more Churches...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Acts 1:20-26
20 For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be
desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and his bishoprick let another take.
21 Wherefore of these men which have companied with us all the time
that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,
22 Beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was
taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his
resurrection.
23 And they appointed two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed
Justus, and Matthias.
24 And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of
all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen,
25 That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which
Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.
26 And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and
he was numbered with the eleven apostles.

Psalms 69:25 Let their habitation be desolate; and let none dwell in
their tents.

Psalms 109:8 Let his days be few; and let another take his office.

Revelation 12:1 And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman
clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a
crown of twelve stars:

Revelation 21:12 And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates,
and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the
names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:

Revelation 21:14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and
in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

Exodus 28:21 And the stones shall be with the names of the children of
Israel, twelve, according to their names, like the engravings of a
signet; every one with his name shall they be according to the twelve
tribes.

Matthew 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom
of heaven.

The merciless Roman Empire

Acts 16:27 And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and
seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have
killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled.

Ancient Roman Empire was symbolized by the symbol of an eagle or Aquila.
The eagle was beyond a mere symbol and was taken very seriously such
that each legion has a legionary known as an aquilifer, or eagle-bearer,
who carried this standard. The Roman standard was mounted on a high pole.

The Romans used the eagle as a symbol because it was king of the birds
of prey or king of the sky and it was believed to be a messenger of the
highest gods. Like their symbol the Romans were merciless and used fear
not only against the enemy but also against its own soldiers, at every
level or rank. Any indiscipline would call for an iron fist type
punishment which was dreaded so much that the person preferred taking
one's own life rather than the punishment. In today's message we see a
similar situation the prison keeper feared the prisoners had fled after
seeing the prison gates open so went to take his own life out of fear of
getting punished for this incident.

Take the case of Jesus; He died at the hands of the Romans even though
it was the Jews who gave Him to them to be killed. They whipped Him
unlike one can think. A historian pictured it as three strong men
surrounding Jesus tied and bent over a large stone; taking turns one
after the other with whips which had 9 to 13 strands having objects like
bones or sharp metal pieces tied to its ends. The person who killed the
guilty victim would be rewarded in silver, so they would put their most
efforts with intention to kill with their each blow. Jesus was delivered
about 100 lashes on his back and His front. What bought fear in them is
the fact He survived the punishment.

In the Bible God also uses the eagle as a symbol but uses it as a symbol
of grace not as a symbol of fear. Since the bird flies high above the
lower unsteady currents it has a smooth effortless motion. It glides
more than flapping it wings.

In today's message the Lord is telling us religion can be the most
merciless factor. It can terrify and destroy people because it is
worldly. But when God comes in the picture and we are lifted away from
the worldly thinking then our relationship with God can be one of the
most enjoyable, effortless experiences since we dwell on grace and not
on our own efforts.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Almighty God. Although You God are feared yet You are most
merciful. Man who is a mere creature can still be most merciless
compared to You. Lord we pray we understand like David it is better to
be dealt by your hands than at the hands of man. We pray we learn to
turn to You even when we do wrong and not to try to hide behind man...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
1 Chronicles 21:11-18
11 So Gad came to David, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Choose
thee
12 Either three years' famine; or three months to be destroyed before
thy foes, while that the sword of thine enemies overtaketh thee; or else
three days the sword of the LORD, even the pestilence, in the land, and
the angel of the LORD destroying throughout all the coasts of Israel.
Now therefore advise thyself what word I shall bring again to him that
sent me.
13 And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let me fall now
into the hand of the LORD; for very great are his mercies: but let me
not fall into the hand of man.
14 So the LORD sent pestilence upon Israel: and there fell of Israel
seventy thousand men.
15 And God sent an angel unto Jerusalem to destroy it: and as he was
destroying, the LORD beheld, and he repented him of the evil, and said
to the angel that destroyed, It is enough, stay now thine hand. And the
angel of the LORD stood by the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.
16 And David lifted up his eyes, and saw the angel of the LORD stand
between the earth and the heaven, having a drawn sword in his hand
stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders of Israel, who
were clothed in sackcloth, fell upon their faces.
17 And David said unto God, Is it not I that commanded the people to be
numbered? even I it is that have sinned and done evil indeed; but as for
these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, O LORD my
God, be on me, and on my father's house; but not on thy people, that
they should be plagued.
18 Then the angel of the LORD commanded Gad to say to David, that David
should go up, and set up an altar unto the LORD in the threshingfloor of
Ornan the Jebusite.

Questioning and shaming you in public

Acts 7:28, 29 Wilt thou kill me, as thou diddest the Egyptian yesterday?
Then fled Moses at this saying, and was a stranger in the land of
Madian, where he begat two sons.

Stephen while giving an introduction to Moses speaks of him being a
beautiful child who won the heart of the Pharaoh's daughter. The
Pharaoh's daughter brings up the child as her own son but unlike what
movies show here we read Moses' roots were not hidden from him, he was
aware that he was an Israelite bought up by an Egyptian. Stephen goes on
to describe Moses as very learned in all the wisdom / skills of the
Egyptians; he was mighty in words and in deeds. It is interesting to
note even though Moses stammered yet he was well known for what he
spoke. Bible does not say he fought battles or wars as posturized in
movies but says he did great deeds for which he was well known. These
could have been civil constructions or architectural works. Everything
that the Lord desired of him later was being built in him that too at
the hands of the best in the world at that time.

It is written Moses saved one of his brethren Israelite at the hands of
an Egyptian and killed the Egyptian. Later we see when two Israelites
were fighting Moses intervened and it was one of the Israelites who
mocked him, threatened to defame and expose him in public.

It is said worldly people bite the hand that feeds them. This is what
one should expect and get even among Christians. We are filled with
people who do 'Lord, Lord' but lack wisdom and maturity. They seek fame
and social status among their brethren. The reward they seek is worldly
more than heavenly. They are spiritually immature. They are more harmful
than the enemy. We should discern those foolish, immature lots and be
cautious while dealing with them. Do not speak to them or before them
things that they do not need to know or do not understand, for they will
use them as weapons against you in public.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God, You are Creator, Provider and Protector, You alone are
our Father. Even though You do so much yet man has always questioned You
and blasphemed You. Your Word says the worldly people will hate us for
they hate You first. Even among Christians are those who love the world
or things of the world. We pray Lord we discern them and be cautious
about them...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Acts 7:20-29
20 In which time Moses was born, and was exceeding fair, and nourished
up in his father's house three months:
21 And when he was cast out, Pharaoh's daughter took him up, and
nourished him for her own son.
22 And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was
mighty in words and in deeds.
23 And when he was full forty years old, it came into his heart to
visit his brethren the children of Israel.
24 And seeing one of them suffer wrong, he defended him, and avenged
him that was oppressed, and smote the Egyptian:
25 For he supposed his brethren would have understood how that God by
his hand would deliver them: but they understood not.
26 And the next day he shewed himself unto them as they strove, and
would have set them at one again, saying, Sirs, ye are brethren; why do
ye wrong one to another?
27 But he that did his neighbour wrong thrust him away, saying, Who
made thee a ruler and a judge over us?
28 Wilt thou kill me, as thou diddest the Egyptian yesterday?
29 Then fled Moses at this saying, and was a stranger in the land of
Madian, where he begat two sons.

Proverbs 17:25 A foolish son is a grief to his father, and bitterness
to her that bare him.

Proverbs 23:9 Speak not in the ears of a fool: for he will despise the
wisdom of thy words.

Ecclesiastes 4:13 Better is a poor and a wise child than an old and
foolish king, who will no more be admonished.

James 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the
friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be
a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

Reasoning with your hearts!

Luke 5:22 But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said
unto them, What reason ye in your hearts?

When we speak of thinking we associate this activity with the brain, but
it comes to emotions we associate this activity with the heart, even
though it also is done by the brain.

It was in ancient civilizations that the heart was thought to be the
central driver of one's life. In Egyptian mummification process all the
internal organs of the body were removed except of the heart. They
discarded everything including brains leaving for some primary organs
which were preserved in jars; they believed these would be necessary in
the afterlife of that person but the heart the retailed in the main body
thinking without it the person would not see the afterlife. In the OT in
some scriptures the word kidney along with the word reins (discernment)
is also translated as 'heart'.

When Jesus saw they were shocked to hear Him say He forgave the sick man
of his sins, He made the statement recorded in today's message.

Like these people we too many a times let our emotional part interfere
with our rational part. In psychology the emotional part is projected as
an elephant and the rational part as its rider. It is usually the
rational part that leads the emotional part but when we are over excited
or even in a trauma, it is like the elephant not listening to its rider
and going its own way. In real life this would cause a panic but
internally we do not see the seriousness of this. That is why it is
advised that always not to make a serious decision when one is very
happy or when one is very sad, always postpone it to a time when the
emotions are in control.

The people in today's message saw the man needed healing but saw Jesus
speaking of forgiving him. They did not know the relationship between
sin and sickness, they also did not know how sins could be forgiven and
by whom so they were emotional driven.

There are times we will not have knowledge of things and due to that we
may get emotional and let our emotions drive our thinking, in such cases
the results mostly lead to disaster.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord God, You are Holy God. You chose fools of this world to show those
who think themselves to be wise, as fools. You Lord give those whom You
have chosen your Spirit of Truth, You bless them with wisdom and
knowledge and understanding. You Lord do not let them remain fools but
manifest wisdom that is beyond this world. Lord we pray we let not
emotions lead us but let the truth and your wisdom led us...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.

Luke 5:18-25
18 And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a
palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him.
19 And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in
because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down
through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus.
20 And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are
forgiven thee.
21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is
this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?
22 But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said unto
them, What reason ye in your hearts?
23 Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say,
Rise up and walk?
24 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to
forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee,
Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house.
25 And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he
lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God.

Psalms 94:8-11
8 Understand, ye brutish among the people: and ye fools, when will ye
be wise?
9 He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye,
shall he not see?
10 He that chastiseth the heathen, shall not he correct? he that
teacheth man knowledge, shall not he know?
11 The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.

Proverbs 3:35 The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the
promotion of fools.

Romans 1:19-22
19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God
hath shewed it unto them.
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are
clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his
eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God,
neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their
foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

People will sough to pull you down

John 7:11 Then the Jews sought him at the feast, and said, Where is he?

In service industry there is a saying your 99 good works is overlooked
when you make a mistake. An impeccable service record requires
100percent error free track record.

In today's message we read of a point where Jesus went undercover to a
gathering knowing that people would be on a lookout for Him. Some
supported Him but fearing the Jews (Jewish leaders) did not dare to open
their mouths. The others called Him a deceiver even though they could
not find a fault with Him. It was basically they could not understand
what He said thus termed Him as deceiver, that too after the many great
miracles He did amongst them (including multiplication of bread). Jesus
went there hiding but on reaching there He openly taught in the
synagogue, He even spoke from books (OT) which were normally not kept
for public access in the synagogues and thus amazed the people there.

Jesus was blessed with wisdom and He spoke with authority. As human He
studied and grew in knowledge and understanding. He followed not the
teachings of man but followed that which was written, this defiance is
what the Jewish leaders disliked.

In Church and amongst Christians this same story continues. You may do a
hundred good deeds or have an impeccable character record but if you say
one thing that does not agree with them then you will be branded as an
evil person. The problem may be with their understanding yet they will
accuse you as being wrong. Even if we take a case the person made a
mistake; he or she will not be forgiven special if that person has
defied the system like Jesus did. People like to hear what they already
know, if one speaks anything that is contrary to their thinking but in
line with the Word of God, will still be looked at as heresy.

If a preacher claims to have gone to Heaven, stayed there for 3 days and
returned, would be swallowed by people without a hiccup but a small
truth that shakes their false foundation will be reacted with great hue
and cry.

Let us check all understanding not with what people have said but with
what which is written in the Word of God. Let us be always ready for
correction. If we can prove the person wrong let us approach the person
in private and correct the person. If failed then let us do the same
along with a few brothers and if that still fails then let us warn the
Church about that person. But then if we cannot prove that person wrong
and the teaching is hard for us to take, then it is better to put it
aside for another day praying to the Lord to open our eyes to it. We
should always fear to make a mistake for rejecting a right doctrine for
we will need to answer the Lord not man for it.

Also note Jesus did not bother to justify Himself or His doctrine to the
Jewish leaders but did so to the people. He preferred going hiding to
bypass the Jewish leaders and reach the crowd. Some people, how much to
you justify the truth will still not accept it for they are filled with
worldly understanding so it is better to not waste your time behind them
or clear yourself in their eyes, but if confronted be ready to question
their understanding.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord, You are Righteous and Truth. You Lord could have spoken for Heaven
with a thundering voice and all mankind would not be able to deny You,
but You Lord chose to speak through man and reach out to those who are
yours and worthy of You. You Lord are seeking precious gold amongst men.
We pray Lord we have the courage to stand for the Truth and fear not
people or their consequences...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
John 7:6-18
6 Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is
alway ready.
7 The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it,
that the works thereof are evil.
8 Go ye up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast; for my
time is not yet full come.
9 When he had said these words unto them, he abode still in Galilee.
10 But when his brethren were gone up, then went he also up unto the
feast, not openly, but as it were in secret.
11 Then the Jews sought him at the feast, and said, Where is he?
12 And there was much murmuring among the people concerning him: for
some said, He is a good man: others said, Nay; but he deceiveth the people.
13 Howbeit no man spake openly of him for fear of the Jews.
14 Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and
taught.
15 And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having
never learned?
16 Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that
sent me.
17 If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether
it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.
18 He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that
seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no
unrighteousness is in him.

Matthew 18:15-17
15 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him
his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast
gained thy brother.
16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more,
that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.
17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but
if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man
and a publican.

Mother tongue!

Acts 22:1,2 Men, brethren, and fathers, hear ye my defence which I make
now unto you. (And when they heard that he spake in the Hebrew tongue to
them, they kept the more silence: and he saith,)

Language is a means of communication. We read in the Bible when mankind
gathered together against God by building the tower of Babel (which was
like a high temple which held all gods together some historians state a
female deity was its head) we see God created confusion between them,
they spoke various different languages by which they could not
understand the other and till date man has been having various
languages, they have held on strong to their languages thus continued
the confusion.

In a country like India where we have 23 constitutionally recognized
languages and more than 1650 spoken language, one can see the people are
so passionate to one's own language that it is referred to as their
'mother tongue'. The reason the term 'mother' is used since in Hinduism
the mother is worshiped like a goddess. Although they say the father is
also honored yet among their deities it is ultimately the female deity
who is feared and claims victory over all. The naturally suppressed
Indian woman is projected in reverse spiritually as the most powerful
being. Even in most other pagan religions (ancient and current) across
the world female deities hold top positions (directly or indirectly)
opposite to Christianity calling God Father.

The native language or the language of the place of their birth is
supposed to be their 'mother tongue', but we see even if the person is
born in another place and so also their children yet they call the
native language of their great grandparents as their native language or
'mother tongue'. Not only the language but the culture of that region is
carried on in another region.

In the Bible, languages study is very important for it allows us to
understand the depth of what God wants to communicate to us. God did not
stick to a language but inspired His people to use better and
appropriate languages as time evolved so that the communication is
passed on accurately and widely. The holding on to languages and
traditions / culture was the cause of first infighting in the Church in
Acts. This reason still continues even after 2000 years.

In OT the people of God spoke Hebrew. The word Hebrew means 'from
beyond' or another word 'alien'. Let us as Christians mature beyond
earthly means of communications and understand we are spiritual beings
passing through this natural world. Let us not be like worldly people
who are obsessed with earthly things. Let us know their purpose and use
them for that purpose, not making them our mothers or fathers.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord, You are God and the Heavens are your abode. Your Kingdom is not of
this world and those who are of your Kingdom are also not of this world.
Lord we are just passing through this world, so we pray we do not be
possessive of things of this world other than souls which we take with
us into your Kingdom...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Genesis 11:6-9
6 And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one
language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained
from them, which they have imagined to do.
7 Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they
may not understand one another's speech.
8 So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all
the earth: and they left off to build the city.
9 Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there
confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD
scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.

Acts 6:1 And in those days, when the number of the disciples was
multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews,
because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.

Colossians 3:10-11
10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the
image of him that created him:
11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor
uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all,
and in all.

No Fear of God

Romans 3:10-18

When we confront a Catholic about Mary being born without sin we are
quick to quote Romans 3:10 which states 'there is none righteous, no not
one'. Paul was quoting Psalms 14:1-5 in verses Romans 3:10-18 and when
we read both Psalms 14:1-5 and Romans 3:10-18 they give a great detail
as to why there is none righteous.

In verse 11 of Romans Paul says the reason of being unrighteous is due
to the lack of understanding and lack of seeking God. If man does not
know the truth there is no way for him to be righteous for righteousness
means to walk in the right path, the path of truth. Truth and
Righteousness are Fruits of the Holy Spirit mentioned in Ephesians 5:9
(along with Holiness) which are given to us as gifts thus are not
mentioned with the other nine Fruits mentioned in Galatians 5:22-23
which have to be grown (among them faith is both a gift of the Holy
Spirit as well as a Fruit).

We receive the Fruit of truth from the Holy Spirit (Spirit of Truth). We
may study the Word and do all the efforts but yet revelation of the Word
comes from the Holy Spirit. It is this revelation that we share with
others and thus build each other. Human knowledge does not build people
but pleases and misleads them but revelation that comes from the Spirit
alone is the rock that keeps us strong.

As we grow in the knowing the truth we start to walk the path of
righteousness. When the truth is complete in us then only will we be
truly be called righteous. As the Fruit of Truth is received from the
Holy Spirit similarly we receive the Fruit of Righteousness from the Son
and the Fruit of Holiness from the Father.

In today's message we read Paul tells us people are not righteous
because they do not have understanding of the Word and because they do
not truly seek God. It is because of this that they are unprofitable
(they struggle spiritually) and do not do good, their speeches are like
tombs that lead people to death, the words they speak discourages people
spiritual. This is what David said during his time, Paul said during his
time and is valid even today in our times. We all fall in this category
some way or other. Paul at the end states the prime reason of all this
is because we do not have the fear of God in us.

I was speaking to a brother yesterday on how each and every one of us is
struggling spiritually in our lives. We behave like dogs that turn to
its vomit. Even if we had one of us who breaks through and spiritually
matures to some extent, we would see a complete change, not only
throughout a city but even throughout a country.

It is time we open our blind eyes and make our lame feet strong.
It is time we put ourselves behind and put God and His Kingdom ahead.
It is time we overcome ourselves by being crucified to the world and the
world be crucified onto us.
It is time we carry this crucifix of saving the lost daily.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord, You are Holy, Righteous and Truth. You were, are and will always
be. When man sinned he lost truth and righteousness thus became corrupt
and naked. You Lord paid the price for ours sins so that we receive the
Holy Spirit through whom we know the Truth and thus are restored by your
Righteousness to again enter Heaven. Your Word says when we enter Heaven
the Father will dwell amongst us for we will receive His Holiness. Lord
we pray we seek the Truth which sets us free and set our lame feet
strong so that we continue to run the race of knowing the Truth...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Romans 3:10-18
10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become
unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
13 Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used
deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:
14 Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:
15 Their feet are swift to shed blood:
16 Destruction and misery are in their ways:
17 And the way of peace have they not known:
18 There is no fear of God before their eyes.

Psalms 14:1-5
1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt,
they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
2 The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if
there were any that did understand, and seek God.
3 They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there
is none that doeth good, no, not one.
4 Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people
as they eat bread, and call not upon the LORD.
5 There were they in great fear: for God is in the generation of the
righteous.

Ephesians 5:9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and
righteousness and truth;)

Galatians 5:22-23
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering,
gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Galatians 6:14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of
our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I
unto the world.

Light that separates darkness

John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the
world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds
were evil.

In today's message the word translated as 'condemnation' is the Greek
word 'Krisis', which out of the 48 times it occurs in the Bible 41 times
it has been translated as 'judgment'. The word does not emphasize so
much on the punishment but more on selection or separation. It speaks of
separating the good from the bad, right from the wrong.

People wrongly think God punishes people by getting devils to torture
them in Hell. They make it out that God and Satan have an agreement.

Bible shows even evil spirit/ fallen angels fear Hell for they know they
too suffer there. In Hell God does not punish people, Hell is a prison
where people suffer their sins. Their sins burn like never ending coals
of fire. So on earth whenever a person sins, he or she gathers these
never ending coals which they will suffer in Hell if they are not saved.

On Judgment Day when Son of Man (Jesus Christ as man, for God does not
judge us, He became a worthy man to judge) will sit on the Judgment Seat
and all He does is separate the flock - the sheep from the goats.

Jesus at times called people 'children of Satan' because they were
children of darkness. Can we change the children of darkness? NO. Bibles
says Jesus came for the lost and not for the children of darkness. The
lost are children of light who are in darkness, they are children who
have seed of faith and that seed needs to bring forth life and fruit.

Today's message says those who are of darkness hate the light for it
tells them of the separation that they will face and the suffering they
will cause themselves. These fools try to hide this reality by exerting
their angers against those who are of light.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Light and You exist from the beginning. Darkness came when
some of the hosts of Heaven revolted against light. You God made a
little creature called man to be the light in this darkness and to
overcome it. We pray Lord those who are yours may quicken their coming
unto You, that You may be glorified on earth soon...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Matthew 5:21 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou
shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the
judgment:

Matthew 7:2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and
with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father
ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the
truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he
speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

Matthew 8:29 And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do
with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us
before the time?

Luke 8:30-31
30 And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion:
because many devils were entered into him.
31 And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into
the deep.

John 5:22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all
judgment unto the Son:

John 5:27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also,
because he is the Son of man.

Importance highlighted

Galatians 6:11 Ye see how large a letter I have written unto you with
mine own hand.

Most people when they read this verse think Paul is referring to the
length of the letter he has written with his own hands and thus conclude
that the other letters which are lengthier were narrated by Paul and
written by someone else.

If we look at the Greek text the word ‘gramma’ translated as letter is
not singular but in plural. So it is not letter but letters and thus
does not speak of the length but at the size of the alphabets.

In Greek the concept of bold, italics or underline does not exist like
it does in the English text and this is the same with the Hebrew text.
In Hebrew the writers used the word ‘Selah’ at the end of the sentence
to state the importance of it.

Paul to show the importance of the subject he was writing on used large
letters to do the same. We see the topic was about ‘doing good deeds’,
and doing good deeds not in the flesh but in the spirit.

Yesterday I was ministering to an unbeliever who was in problems and was
very depressed and troubled financially. He spoke to me hoping I would
help him financially but as the Lord led me I ministered to him. He was
not at the stage that I needed to intervene in the natural. I have had
Believers asking financial help to pay fees for their children who study
in international schools while I myself put my own daughter in a lesser
costlier school. Some ask for help pay for insurances, some to buy new
electronic gadgets, etc...

Let us understand as Christian Ministers we should help the needy in the
natural but also understand our limitation in doing so. Let us remember
our purpose is not social but spiritual. Even if all Christians gather
together and fund the poor we will not be able to eradicate poverty from
the face of the earth forever. Many are poor not because they do not
have but because they have other problems and prime among them are lazy,
lacking endurance or direction.

We as Christian missionaries should concentrate of upliftment of people,
more spiritually than naturally. We should enable them to be
self-sufficient and not hungry mouths forever. We can feed them for a
few days but then if we do not teach them on how to feed themselves,
then we are harming them more than helping them.

In Acts we read the Apostles did help on a daily basis but specifically
to widows since society considered them cursed and were not allowed to
earn their income. This also the Apostles did not do for themselves but
had those growing spiritually to do so; they knew their priority was in
spiritual works more than natural works. Jesus also did not feed the
hungry daily but did so only when He felt is a need. At times He did not
use money to feed but used the power of God to do so.

Many growing in the Lord also look at tithing as feeding the hungry.
They think the Church or Pastor has enough so why to give? They do not
understand the purpose they give is spiritual more than natural and it
is more for themselves and not for the Pastor or for the Ministry.

Let us not sow in the flesh but sow in the spirit. Let the people see
the Hand of God in our work and not see our hands, but when the need
arrives let us not hesitate to give what we have.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God Almighty, there is nothing impossible for You yet You
Lord do not intervene directly to solve all problems but get us to be
vessels to do the job. You allow things for a period so that we learn to
know our priorities and purpose of life. We pray Lord we be filled with
wisdom and be instruments for your glory more than to glorify ourselves...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Galatians 6:7-11
7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that
shall he also reap.
8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption;
but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall
reap, if we faint not.
10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men,
especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
11 Ye see how large a letter I have written unto you with mine own hand.

Acts 6:1-3
1 Now in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplying,
there arose a complaint against the Hebrews by the Hellenists, because
their widows were neglected in the daily distribution.
2 Then the twelve summoned the multitude of the disciples and said, "It
is not desirable that we should leave the word of God and serve tables.
3 "Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of good
reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over
this business;

Mark 6:36-38
36 "Send them away, that they may go into the surrounding country and
villages and buy themselves bread; for they have nothing to eat."
37 But He answered and said to them, "You give them something to eat."
And they said to Him, "Shall we go and buy two hundred denarii worth of
bread and give them something to eat?"
38 But He said to them, "How many loaves do you have? Go and see." And
when they found out they said, "Five, and two fish."

Luke 22:35 And He said to them, "When I sent you without money bag,
knapsack, and sandals, did you lack anything?" So they said, "Nothing."

Joy of gaining the lost

Luke 15:6 And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and
neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep
which was lost.

We read in today's message the joy of the one who brings in a lost back
into the flock. The next verse (Luke 15:7) gives a comparison of this
joy and states it is greater than the joy of 99 righteous who are in the
flock.

As I was scrutinizing the Greek text of verse 7 I found the word
translated as 'need' is the word Greek word 'echo'. This word is 613
times translated as 'have' but in this verse surprisingly is translated
as 'need'. The Greek word for need is 'chreia' which occurs 25 times and
example of its use is Matthew 6:32. So the verse speaks of a lost who
repents and comes back to the Body of Christ (Church) is better than the
99 'righteous' ones in the Church who have no repentance in their hearts.

It is repentance that keeps a person in the body of Christ. Repentance
is not an initial criterion to enter the Kingdom of God, in fact
repentance along with faith, are both required to keep a person in
Christ. If we lose faith we can no longer claim salvation in Christ so
also if we do not have repentance in us, we can stake claim as being
part of the inheritors of His Kingdom.

Repentance is not being sorry but means redirecting ourselves to do the
right. It is about correction more than acknowledging the wrong. We as
babies in Christ keep growing in Christ, and as we grow in knowing the
truth we also know the wrongs in our lives and areas that need
correction. So growing in Christ is not only of receiving of His Kingdom
but also is about tuning ourselves more and more to be like Him. It is
about losing the old nature and gaining His nature in us. So any one not
in the state of repentance is declaring they are better than or as good
as God thus do not need change.

Let us be always in the state of repentance and not be like the
righteous ones the flock who do not count much. They are the goats who
on Judgment Day will be separated from the sheep and will be punished
for rejecting the Will of the Father (Word of God).

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Righteous and Holy God, You alone are perfect in every
sense and there is none like You. We pray God we understand seeking You
means seeking your Nature, lifting your Name means lifting your Nature.
You God dwell in us when we seek You (your Nature) in us. God let us be
always seeking You and thus always we are at a state of correction, of
repentance...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Luke 15:7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one
sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons,
which need no repentance.

Matthew 6:32 "For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your
heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.

Mathew 3:1,2
1 In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea,
2 and saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!"

Matthew 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, "Repent,
for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."

Mark 1:15 and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is
at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel."

Matthew 11:20 Then He began to rebuke the cities in which most of His
mighty works had been done, because they did not repent:

Revelation 3:3 "Remember therefore how you have received and heard;
hold fast and repent. Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon
you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you.

Hearing the Voice of God

Acts 22:14 And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that
thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear
the voice of his mouth.

During the time of Jesus people heard the voice of Jesus but today can
we hear Him.

Just a couple of days back a brother was asking me 'does God talk
vocally?' His question was not much towards if God is able to talk
vocally to us but as to when He does, in what tone or voice do we hear Him?

Those who have heard the Lord talk to them vocally (person to person)
will tell that the earth did not rattle nor did the voice pierce the
eardrums such as to hurt the person to whom the Lord spoke. At times the
person did not know the Lord was speaking for it was like another human
speaking, like in the case of Samuel; he thought it was his mentor Eli
who was calling out to him when the Lord called out to him.

Humans have different voice individually; their voice is considered a
signature of that person. If one studies Acoustic analysis (modulation
spectrum analysis) or neuro-acoustics or any other scientific approach
to study voice one will find ultimately each voice has values and when
someone tries to match those values it is simply mimicry. A good
mimicry artist is the one who modulates his or her voice and comes
closest to the values of the voice he or she is trying to imitate.

People think God has a signature human kind voice like we do; God is not
man and does not need vocal, audio communication to communicate with us.
He can speak to us directly where we hear but the people around us do
not or others may hear someone speaking to us but do not hear exactly
what the voice is speaking to us (like it happened to Paul) or hear
exactly what we hear (like it happened when Jesus was baptized).

God can talk to us in a crowd as He can do in private. He can peak in
the day or in the night. He may even speak to us in a familiar voice of
a person we know. He can speak to us in many ways.

The question comes how do we know it is God speaking to us?

We can only know it is the voice is of the Lord by the words not by the
nature of the voice or its effects. Only when we know the Lord or know
His Word we recognize it is the Lord speaking to us and not that of any
other power.

When I heard the Lord speak to me it was while I was hearing music on an
mp3 player (those days mobiles were not what they are today). In between
I heard some words which struck me and which I had never heard before.
When I copied the contents of the mp3 player to a computer and went
through it again and again I did not find those words. Later (after a
few months) when I was going through the Bible I read those words which
were spoken to me across 2 scriptures (John 15:16, 19).

The Lord can speak to us any time and in various ways, the fact is are
we alert and tuned to hear Him.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Almighty God, You are Spirit. Flesh and bone is not
permanent as spirit is. Flesh turns to dust but spirit remains spirit.
Lord we pray we overcome the bonds of the flesh. Let not our thinking be
limited by the flesh but be abundant as the spirit is...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
1 Samuel 3:4-11
4 that the LORD called Samuel. And he answered, "Here I am!"
5 So he ran to Eli and said, "Here I am, for you called me." And he
said, "I did not call; lie down again." And he went and lay down.
6 Then the LORD called yet again, "Samuel!" So Samuel arose and went to
Eli, and said, "Here I am, for you called me." He answered, "I did not
call, my son; lie down again."
7 (Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD, nor was the word of the LORD
yet revealed to him.)
8 And the LORD called Samuel again the third time. Then he arose and
went to Eli, and said, "Here I am, for you did call me." Then Eli
perceived that the LORD had called the boy.
9 Therefore Eli said to Samuel, "Go, lie down; and it shall be, if He
calls you, that you must say, 'Speak, LORD, for Your servant hears.'" So
Samuel went and lay down in his place.
10 Now the LORD came and stood and called as at other times, "Samuel!
Samuel!" And Samuel answered, "Speak, for Your servant hears."
11 Then the LORD said to Samuel: "Behold, I will do something in Israel
at which both ears of everyone who hears it will tingle.

Acts 9:4-7
4 Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul,
Saul, why are you persecuting Me?"
5 And he said, "Who are You, Lord?" Then the Lord said, "I am Jesus,
whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads."
6 So he, trembling and astonished, said, "Lord, what do You want me to
do?" Then the Lord said to him, "Arise and go into the city, and you
will be told what you must do."
7 And the men who journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice
but seeing no one.

Matthew 3:17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, "This is My
beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."

John 15:16 "You did not choose Me, but I chose you”

John 15:19 "I chose you out of the world”.

Helping at the cost of pay a high price

Luke 18:40 And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him:
and when he was come near, he asked him,

We all who are humane do reach out and help people in need whenever it
is possible and convenient for us. But there are few who go out of the
way to help someone even at the risk of losing something sometimes as
precious as their own lives.

You may wonder why I am talking of this and what relation it has with
regards to today's scriptures.

The person whom Jesus healed named 'Bartimaeus' was no ordinary person.
He was not a Jew but a Roman. The name states him to be Son of Timeus.
According to what a historian put this person Timeus was a very senior
official in the Roman army in Jericho. His son was a revolutionary and
had revolted against the Roman Empire. The Romans were known to be
merciless, but in this case Bartimaeus being a son of a high ranking
person, his life was spared but only after he was made blind and made to
beg for his living within the two city walls of Jericho (the city was a
like a fortress, 2/3 protected by mountains and on one side had two
walls within which famous temples for various gods existed; God had
destroyed them when He bought the walls down, later they were rebuild).

Jesus was hated by the Jewish religious leaders for He questioned and
challenged their authority. He was loved and respected by the Romans for
it suited the Romans to keep the Jewish leaders in check. The Jews could
not lay their hands on Jesus' life for fear of the Romans.

Jesus knew by healing Bartimaeus He would be challenging the authority
of the Romans and lose their favor yet we see Jesus went ahead and
healed him. One may say Jesus triggered the events leading to His
crucifixion by doing this.

Like Bartimaeus' relation with the Romans was the man with a withered
hand's relationship with the Jews. That man was also punished but by the
Jewish high authorities and Jesus by healing him challenged them and
triggered the call for His crucifixion. Healing Bartimaeus was the
second step which Jesus did and did not fear to take. The last step was
the bringing to life a dead embalmed Lazarus, a miracle so great not
really understood even today (not just because he was four days dead but
because of the rituals done on him). This miracle was unlike any dead
bought to life by Jesus; this caused all the Jews in Jerusalem to become
like a mob against both the Jewish and Roman authorities.

Let us ask ourselves if we know that by helping someone we will get
ourselves in great trouble if not physically harmed or killed, would we
still take the step to help that person?

To be like Jesus requires us to be people strongly rooted in the Kingdom
of God. It is only when the Truth is full in us we will be able to have
courage like Jesus.

[Prayer Starter]
Father God You alone are God and there is none other than You. Lord, You
are Truth and those who abide in the Truth abide in You. Lord we pray we
be more and more rooted in the Truth so that we are unshaken by dangers
of this world. We understand that You are Alive and nothing is without
You. In all things You will be glorified...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Matthew 12:8-14 (man with the withered hand)

John 11:43-48, 53 (effect of Lazarus' miracle)
53 Then, from that day on, they plotted to put Him to death.

John 12:9-10, 17-18
9 Now a great many of the Jews knew that He was there; and they came,
not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might also see Lazarus, whom He
had raised from the dead.
10 But the chief priests plotted to put Lazarus to death also,
17 Therefore the people, who were with Him when He called Lazarus out
of his tomb and raised him from the dead, bore witness.
18 For this reason the people also met Him, because they heard that He
had done this sign.
19 The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, "You see that you are
accomplishing nothing. Look, the world has gone after Him!"

Making a public statement

Acts 16:37 But Paul said unto them, They have beaten us openly uncondemned,
being Romans, and have cast us into prison; and now do they thrust us out
privily? nay verily; but let them come themselves and fetch us out.

In today’s message when the magistrate came to know that Paul had a Roman
citizenship he was very afraid and wanted to quietly set off Paul and his
colleagues whom he had got arrested without due process and cause.

Here we read of Paul initially wanted to get the magistrate to publically
acknowledge his mistake thus refused to leave the prison but later on his
plea, he and his team left.

Today the word terrorism is very common. People think the word means
violence but that is not the case. Terrorizing can be done without actual
acts of violence but by just intimidation of threat of violence, threat of
social excommunication, threat of depriving a person of livelihood etc...
Any act by a human that induces fear of any kind is called terrorism.

Jesus said do not fear time and again. We read in the Bible the words ‘Do
not fear’ is spoken mostly by the Lord or a Man of God on behalf of the
Lord and it is more towards not fearing an event, or power, or person.

The Hebrew word yir’ah for fear is also translated as terror and it comes
from the root word yare’ which means ‘to revere’ / ‘give reverence’.

People do not understand when they fear a person or power they are actually
making that person or power a god, a king or master over them. Even when a
person hate someone so much as to keep on meditating on that person they
land up making a person a god or king or master over us.

We can make any object, person or power a god or king or master when we
serve them. Fear and deep hatred are some of the factors that drive us to
serve them. We are called to fear God and Him alone; we can give respect or
be cautious of things or persons or powers in this world but are not called
to fear them.

In Greek the word fear is also regarded as fleeing. Paul says flee from
fornication, from idolatry and from pursuing worldly prosperity for these
have caused many to err, face the wrath of God.

Directly or indirectly we are called to fear God and the consequences of
God but otherwise let us be cautious of the things or powers of the world.
Let not worldly terrorism or intimidations affect us, let us face them with
boldness knowing our God is Lord of lords and Kings of kings and every knee
will bow before Him.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God Almighty and Lord over all. There is not power or being
that stand against You. You Lord allow man and powers that work in man to
blasphemy You so that on time appointed they are made to pay their price
and made an example for eternity. Lord we pray we overcome fear of this
world and the powers of this world and only fear You...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Isaiah 51:7 "Listen to Me, you who know righteousness, You people in whose
heart is My law: Do not fear the reproach of men, Nor be afraid of their
insults.

Matthew 3:7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to
his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you
to flee from the wrath to come?

1 Corinthians 6:18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without
the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

1 Corinthians 10:14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.

1 Timothy 6:9-10
9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into
many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and
perdition.
10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted
after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with
many sorrows [errered].

Hebrews 13:6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will
not fear what man shall do unto me.

Where is our zeal?

John 2:13-17
13 And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem,
14 And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves,
and the changers of money sitting:
15 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out
of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers'
money, and overthrew the tables;
16 And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make
not my Father's house an house of merchandise.
17 And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine
house hath eaten me up.

When we read about the incident of Jesus driving away the traders from
the Synagogue in Jerusalem we think it happened just once. But when we
read the chain of events leading to this incident, one will realize it
was not once that Jesus drove the traders away from the temple but
twice. Also people think Jesus was violent, no. If we read the
scriptures, Jesus turned their tables and set their animals free but did
not harm or hurt the persons doing it.

Today's message from the Gospel of John records the first time Jesus
drove the traders away from the temple. And Mathew recorded the second
time Jesus drove the traders away, that is after He received a grand
welcome into Jerusalem (even the incident of driving away a legion of
spirits happened not once but twice, that is why in one Gospel it is
written from one person and in another as two).

In today's message, it is written the disciples remembered the verse of
Psalms 69 which speaks of the zeal of Christ. If we look at the whole
Psalm it is all about Christ, including the way they would treat Him
before His death but all this His disciples did not relate to Him. This
incident by the way happened after His water baptism and after His forty
days of fasting in the wilderness (getting qualified as a Rabbi
according to Moses). So both times He drove the traders out of the
temple was when His popularity was high and people's support was behind Him.

Jesus was not so concern of the place for He never gave importance to
the temple structure. He went there only to reach out to the people who
were gathered there. If He wanted to communicate / prayer He went to a
place He was comfortable like a garden or top of a hill/mountain. He was
driving the traders not from the structure but from amongst the people
gathered there for a purpose.

On Sundays we gather together amongst people for a purpose and that
purpose should solely be to reach out to God as a body. That means our
relationship with each other is very important than our attending a
service. It is only when we are one in heart, mind and understanding
that we will see the glory of God amongst us. We should not misuse this
moment to entertain ourselves in worldly ways, or for commercial
purposes, or for self-promotion. Our purpose should solely be to edify
each other, to grow together and be more united so as to let the glory
of the Lord magnify amongst us. For when this purpose is clear in us
then we too will have the zeal that Christ showed.

[Prayer Started]
Lord You are Holy God. You separate yourself from all that is not right.
Even though You are Holy yet You made a way to reach out to us who are
unholy so as the change us. Lord we thank You for your mercies and your
love. Help us to understand our purpose to become one body. Help us to
bring forth your Kingdom here on earth as it is in Heaven so that your
glory that is in Heaven may be experience here on earth. Fill us with
your zeal...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.

Godly Jealously!

2 Corinthians 11:2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I
have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste
virgin to Christ.

In the Bible there are terms which are largely misunderstood. To
understand them one needs to go to the Hebrew words and its root
meanings. For example Paul four times speaks of 'holy kiss' and we see
people kissing each other on the cheek. Some Men of God have fallen by
this kiss.

In Hebrew the word 'nashaq' for kiss comes from the word 'nasaq' which
means kindle, burn. This action speaks of sharing warmth between two
people. This could be done by a gentle hung or even by a touch, for the
word also means contact. Kissing with the mouth was specifically done to
objects and was an expression of giving reverence. The Hebrew word for
worship itself is literately translated as bowing or kissing the hand.
In Greek the word translated as kiss is 'phileo' which comes from the
word 'philos' which means friend / friendly so the word refers to
friendly greeting a person and does not specifically speak of the lips
touching the cheeks of the other person which may have and may not have
happened, but as per OT it requires simply a contact to happen.

One of the ways the Israelites greeted each other (as commanded by the
Lord) was to salute each other with a blessing. They would say 'Shalom
ALiechem' / 'ALiechem Shalom' meaning 'Peace of the Lord be upon you'
which was later shortened to just 'Shalom'.

In today's message the word jealously is also another term very
misunderstood. In English we could correctly translate as zealous and
not jealous. As Jewish tradition goes the Hebrew word speaks of the
possessiveness of a mother to her child. When God said I am a Jealous
God and His name is Jealous, it meant He is a very possessive of His
children and He is our Father as well as our Mother.

In today's message Paul as a spiritual father to the Believers of the
Church of Corinth speaks of his possessiveness in a godly way meaning a
building and edifying possessiveness that keeps them from being defiled
by other gods or vices.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are our Father and our Mother and our Lord. In Heaven there is
none over us than You, for all are brethren and You over all. We pray
your people are not misled with carnal affections or worldly sentiments
that they fall and be victims of vanity...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Romans 16:16 Salute one another with an holy kiss. The churches of
Christ salute you.

1 Corinthians 16:20 All the brethren greet you. Greet ye one another
with an holy kiss.

2 Corinthians 13:12 Greet one another with an holy kiss.

1 Thessalonians 5:26 Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss.

Song of Solomon 1:2 THE SHULAMITE Let him kiss me with the kisses of
his mouth—For your love is better than wine.

1 Kings 19:18 "Yet I have reserved seven thousand in Israel, all whose
knees have not bowed to Baal, and every mouth that has not kissed him."

Job 31:27 So that my heart has been secretly enticed, And my mouth has
kissed my hand;

Exodus 34:14 '(for you shall worship no other god, for the LORD, whose
name is Jealous, is a jealous God),
