How and What to Pray for Now?

Romans 8:27  And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what [is] the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to [the will of] God.

There is always a confusion during overwhelming times like what we are facing currently, as to what to pray and how to pray. We know such things or nothing happens without the knowledge of God so what God set we cannot cancel but then we cannot just stand back, do nothing and watch people dying.

Today God is saying stop using your wisdom and your words when you pray. He is saying those who are baptized in Spirit should let the Spirit lead them in pray. Let us understand we cannot cancel that which is of God but we can lessen or delay by our prayer to God.

So let each and every one who is of God lift up your hands to God, pray in spirit and the Spirit of God will lead us to pray as per His Will, and that is how we will get control of this situation. So let each of us set aside an hour to pray in Tongues and we will surely see results.

I remember some 3 weeks back, before things started to hit India the Lord caused me to pray for its people. Since I prayed in spirit I do not know if I prayed for the whole country, my state or just my city but I do see the effects of my prayer since I was led by God to pray. I did not pray for long hours but for a short period.

I also know in spirit since yesterday the Lord cleared that this plague is not for 5 months (as I previously thought) and today the Lord is asking us to pray in Spirit for this calamity thus it can stop even tomorrow or very soon. I believe something great is going to happen soon and situation is going to immediately change.

Lord You are Almighty God and nothing is impossible to You. What You have set nothing can change but You are a Merciful God. You have withdrawn your anger when your people stood in the gap. Lord let us not be led by what we see, what we hear and what we feel but we pray we be led by your Spirit so that our spirit cries out to You. We know You never say no to us every prayer is answered with a YES when we are in Christ...

Day of the Lord – Doomsday

2 Peter 3: 10  But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

With the pandemic hitting the world people have started reading the Bible more with purpose to find if it is really doomsday – end of mankind!

One of the most viral scriptures that has been doing the rounds is Revelation 9:1-11. Incidentally it has some very overwhelming similarities.

7  And the shapes of the locusts [were] like unto horses prepared unto battle; and ON THEIR HEADS [WERE] AS IT WERE CROWNS LIKE GOLD, AND THEIR FACES [WERE] AS THE FACES OF MEN.

4  And IT WAS COMMANDED THEM THAT THEY SHOULD NOT HURT THE GRASS OF THE EARTH, NEITHER ANY GREEN THING, NEITHER ANY TREE; BUT ONLY THOSE MEN WHICH HAVE NOT THE SEAL OF GOD IN THEIR FOREHEADS.

5  AND TO THEM IT WAS GIVEN THAT THEY SHOULD NOT KILL THEM, BUT THAT THEY SHOULD BE TORMENTED FIVE MONTHS: AND THEIR TORMENT [WAS] AS THE TORMENT OF A SCORPION, WHEN HE STRIKETH A MAN.

The virus has multiple tentacles having crown like structures on it and this virus affect only humans not any other mammals.. Since the outbreak we have seen the earth healing itself, pollutions has reduced drastically and nature flourishing. Even though we see many death yet the percentage is very, very low and less than 3percent compared to the number of those infected. Also these infected people are quarantined for a long period that they cannot live a normal life. What is more interesting is the virus is directly not hurting mankind so much as the economic disaster that it leaves behind, which will hurt mankind very hard like the poison of the scorpion is in its tail sting not in its claws/bite. Also the term locust is also used which is instrument of famine.

With so many similarities yet we cannot say this scriptures speak of this pandemic because Word of God needs to be perfect with every aspect and not partly. So this pandemic is not for 5 months as people think nor is it dooms day – end of the world like today’s message says on Judgment Day every natural element (the whole universe) will melt away and thus every being will see Him come with His Angels.

Lord You are Almighty God. You Lord have given us your Word as lamp to our feet and light to our path. It not only tells us about our personal spiritual life but also about things that we will face in our natural life. Lord we pray people do not take bit and pieces and try to fit to their situation and when it fails they blame the Word as being untrue. We pray You open their minds to understand it is true and perfect...

Not abiding to warnings

Acts 20:31  Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.

In today’s message the Lord is telling us during the time of Paul, he was warning of calamities at hand at that time, and these were written later by Paul in his letter to Ephesians with solutions to avoid them but then too people did not listen.

The letter of Ephesians is misunderstood to be a letter to the Church in Ephesus but was actually a generic letter to the whole Church and inline to the warning as given in first letter among the 7 letters to the 7 churches in Revelation.

In yesterday’s message the Lord spoke to us how He protected His people through destruction that He bought on the enemies of His people and this did not come as a surprise to them since they were told about it beforehand. We see this throughout the Bible God warning His people with specific details before He sets any calamity on the world or even a large region.

The calamity we are facing would not have come as a surprise had we studied the Word of God well and understood it according to what God wants to tell us and not according to man’s level of understanding. Let us not be like the people during the time of Paul who did not listen to Paul’s warning so faced the wrath of God and many perished not just with a natural death but also in spirit.

Lord You are Almighty God. You Lord are Righteous and no being can accuse You of being unjust. Lord You are slow to anger and not forgetful. You warn, warn and warn before You reprimand your people. Manifestation of Christ

Colossians 4:3, 4 Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds: That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.

If one is on social media one will find many posts of people mocking religious leaders and thus showing a disregard to all religious beliefs. As Christians in spite of the fact we know who God is and everything is possible to Him, yet we do not find any Christian standing up and showing the world that God can crush this virus infection worldwide in a second.

In today’s scripture we find Paul stating that people pray for him and his team that they may be able to share the mysteries of Christ so that Christ may be manifested. Thus unless we do not know Christ then how is Christ to manifest.

When God set His wrath via the various plagues over the Egyptians He made sure to make provisions to protect His people. Even when the Angel of death passed over Egypt the Lord asked His people to post the blood of the Passover Lamb on the outside of their door post so that whosoever are in the house are safe.

Let us understand what God has set cannot be cancelled, so those who are praying for freedom from this plague from this world really do not know why it exist. People are focused on the virus but they do not understand in its tail is the real sting, the sting is the economical paralysis / global recession that this pandemic is bringing as given in the Bible. There has been 6 other pandemics that came before and they killed hundred times more people than this pandemic is killing, yet the sting of this pandemic would be worse.

We as Christians if we know who God is then shadow of death will pass us and its sting will not hurt us for that is what God has declared, provided we declare / manifest who Christ is in our lives.

Lord You are Almighty God. Nothing is impossible to You and there is no worthy opponent against You. In your Word You set things like disasters into motion in its time for purposes given in your Word. Everything You do is for the good of your people. Fullness of the Gentiles

Romans 11:25  For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

In my previous messages I pointed out the Covenant with Abraham was make not only with the children of Jacob (Israelites) for the Lord told Abraham I would make you ‘father of many nations’.

In today’s scripture Paul speaks of the mystery of the Gentiles.

Looking at the many dangers the world is facing right now people are assuming the end is at hand. Let me tell you there are many such disasters on hand and in the coming for things are put in higher gear, God has turned on the heat so that the fence sitters will take decision; also those who do not know Him will seek Him since their gods will fail them.

Today is the time to know if we are fence sitters that is if we have our solutions to our problems if God does not answer us, or if we think God sleeps or is hard of hearing, or if God is an object we use and later put back on the shelf.

It is only when we know God through His Word we will understand Him better and be more firmly rooted in Him. Let us be assured the end will not come till all the lost sheep are gathered like the floods did not come till all that were to be gathered entered the ark.

Sustaining unto the end

Hebrews 6:11  And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:

In sports what is considered important is being in it, the result is secondary. People will tell you every game will build you and make you better so concentrate of improving oneself and not on the result, for one day one will have victory.

Can we apply this same analogy to a life of a Christian?

If we change the situation and put as there being only one match that we get to play, then would we look for experience or for result? Will we not put every ounce of ourselves to win?

Life of a Christian is like a marathon where everyone who finishes the race unto the end is rewarded. Basic reward of salvation does not matter on who comes first or second but on finishing the race, it is all about crossing the finish line as a participant (spiritually) alive not dead. Surely those who finish the race faster or run better will receive great rewards other than just the reward of salvation, but anyone giving up in between or even towards the end will lose everything; that is why finishing is of prime importance. We may pause or rest in between due to hurts, stumbling over objects (like people or desires) but yet we need to continue and finish the race.

We receive salvation by grace, this grace is received if we have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ (mainly in His Word which is life); so the race is about sustaining one’s faith. Now faith is not an object which we can simply hold on to, it is like a plant (the seed of which we received as a gift) so it needs to be nurtured and looked after, if it does not grow means it is dead. Faith should not be mistaken with emotions, we can be very emotional about God but if we lack the knowledge and understanding of who God is then faith does not exist. Even if we know little of Him and hold on to it strongly without doubting then we have faith. But we should understand the more we know (not just knowledge) of God then we can have stronger, unshakable faith (authority).

Let us look at our faith and see its condition, is it alive and growing or is it dead. Plants are very prone to destruction but trees can sustain much. Understand a tree that is dead many a times comes to life even if a very small part of it is alive but if it is a plant then chances are less. Thus let us build our faith strong, so that if testing comes, we will sustain it.

Lord You are Almighty God. In your Word You are equated to a cliff that is strong and does not shake. You are truth and truth does not shake or change. Lord we pray we understand unless we know the truth we cannot have strong faith rooted to the cliff. We pray we do not mistake stones to cliff and be victims of vanity when testing comes...

Spiritual connection

Romans 5: 17  For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)

As an apologist when we discuss with Muslims especially, the one thing they keep asking and are unable to understand is how can one man’s sacrifice impact the lives of others; how can we be saved by the suffering of one man. I do not blame them for asking this, for even most Christians have not understood it well and when asked they simply rattle away verses from NT.

Bible says Abraham was blessed and we who are in him (by faith) are blessed too with the same blessing.

We know that children and grandchildren (all generations) are in the father until they come alive (become a living/moldable soul) in the womb of their mothers. It is like a seed can hold a forest and other seeds, while they themselves can hold forests within. But only when the seed becomes alive as a plant/tree can it do it. So even though we were all created in the beginning we were like seeds in the loins of our fathers until we came alive in the wombs of our mothers.

When man sinned God called all the generation of Adam (male and female) as Adam (Genesis 5:2), it did not mean God gave them a name but said his generations with inherit the nature of Adam. Later having mercy on man God stated the corrupt nature (not sins) of the father will be inherited for 4 generations (mother’s nature gets transferred via the father).

In science we know children inherit the DNA and other genetic properties of their parents and this can impact a number of generations. Genetically we all came through one source yet some genetic properties hold prominence than others that is why we have races having similar features. One does not see an Asia couple giving birth to a European looking child or a European couple giving birth to an African looking kid, even though basic human DNA structure is similar. It matters where we branched out from.

Our spiritual connection is stronger than our natural connection that is why the father has greater importance in the family than the mother (even though individually both are equal before God). It is for this reason Jesus was born of a virgin (surrogate birth) so that He does not inherit the corruption of Adam and Mary being a sinner could give birth to a child without sin (nature).

Even though we may not be naturally/biologically linked to Noah or Abraham or Isaac or Jacob or David or Moses or Jesus, in today’s scripture Paul speaks of spiritual linkage. I took these names because they were instruments the Covenant/Promise between God and man at various stages. It is for this reason even Muslims and Jews partly inherit the blessing of the Covenant. Muslims up to Abraham (they consider themselves children of Ismail) and Jews up to Moses (they are spiritual children of Moses, worshipping him like a god, like Catholics do to Mary). We as Christians receive the blessings of the whole Covenant only when we spiritually connect to Jesus the finisher of the Covenant. It is for this reason Jesus said unless we break ourselves from the branch of Adam and prune ourselves to the Branch Jesus we will not receive all that He brings to us.

Precaution against Gainsayers

Titus 1:9  Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

With the Covid19 pandemic going around almost all know now the importance of regularly sanitizing one’s hands and most important not to touch one’s face in public places. Just think of it if we had done this spiritually could there had ever been any pandemic at all. Corona is a respiratory sickness and breath symbolizes spirit.

Hands spiritually symbolizes ones works. Jesus washed the feet (symbolizing walk of life) of His disciples but did not wash their hands. Washing of hands is a task we have to do ourselves.

Face represents our identity. People do not realize slapping a person on the face is not to physical hurt a person (such as punishment) but to spiritually hurt the identity or self-respect of the person. Touching the face in public spiritually symbolizes taking up one’s identity while humility requires us to put others before ourselves and not ourselves (that does not mean we consider ourselves worthless).

I have mentioned before the Greek word for heretic does not mean to deliver an erred teaching. We need to understand we all do not have a perfect understanding of scriptures or Kingdom of God, so we all err; some less, some much. Having a good understanding of scriptures I have yet to meet a person having perfect understanding of scriptures, that does not mean I correct everyone or call them a heretic. The Greek word for heretic comes from the root word ‘to choose’. It means a person who knowingly distorts teachings for personal gains. In today’s message the term heretic is not used but the term gainsayer is used, both mean the same but if we actually check the Greek text the word used in today’s scripture is adversary or one who speaks against. Paul is referring to those who speak against the truth or the Gospel.

Today’s scripture tells us only when we cling on to the Word and it’s true understanding, then alone we will be able to convict the gainsayers or people out to destroy the Gospel for their own greed and lust.

Lord You are Almighty God. You alone are Holy for You alone are perfect in every sense. Even though the Heavenly beings are made in your image yet they are not perfect thus some of them fell. Lord we human who are least of all beings created in your image are more corrupt then all of them. We pray we understand the importance of your Word and your Spirit for it is your Word and Spirit that transforms us brings us to be accepted by You for holiness....

Son is subjected to Him

1 Corinthians 15:28  And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.

One finds on FB, Whatsapp and other social media Christians posting about the difference between KJV and NIV (and also some other translations). Their main contention against these translations is to do with missing or partly missing scriptures. Some of the comments that people put is that NIV (and others) are trying to deny Christ.

When one studies the Bible beyond just reading, especially when one studies biblical manuscripts (textual criticism) one can see there are about 23 verses where modifications were made in the newer manuscripts. Newer translations of NIV/NASB/ASV etc. are referring to the older manuscripts. It was due to intentions to whitewash human traditions or human thinking (beliefs like the confusion of relationship between the Father, Son and Spirit) that people between 200AD onwards tried to edit the Bible.

Today’s scripture is one such scripture which goes out to hit against the so called understanding of ‘Trinity’ which the Church carries. Today’s scripture causes the confusing though they are equal yet the Son is subject to the Father. It is only when we study Greek and Hebrew text we get a better understanding of their relationship, English language does not carry grammatical richness that exist in Greek.

Jesus said He and the Father are one, if we see Him we have seen the Father and people try to explain it in sense of character or nature. If one understands Greek grammar TVM then these explanations can be easily refuted. It is our lack of understanding life / spirit that we have this confusion. Paul goes on to say there is only one God (the Father).

We think in simplex understanding of one life / one spirit one being (like man or Angel), we are unaware of beings having multitude of lives/spirits within one being like the Cherubim. These are created beings and even though have the option of eternal life in Heaven via the Tree / River of Life yet are unlike God who have endless eternal life within Himself.

If one understands salvation one will know it does not end with us just going to Heaven but that which is set for us and the Angels, is beyond imagination. We are not called ‘fellow servants/associates’ of Angels just casually. What we are doing affects them too, that is why they are always eager to help us.

Let us not be ignorant of who God is and who we are in the Lord. Let us understand that which is get for us in Heaven, so that we do not lose focus and fall prey to vanity.

Be not ignorant of Satan

2 Corinthians 2: 11  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

In today’s scripture we see Paul states he and his team are well aware of Satan and his/their ways thus more immune to him/them.

Have we ever heard of any Preacher of Teacher taking a whole session on Satan?

Even though Preachers do not preach about Satan directly yet they glorify him/them regularly (like in their prayers) making him/them a competition to God. We see this same understanding is shared by other religions and also by secular movies/books and they are doing a great job on this, for they blind even the Christians from seeing that which is written in the Bible.

Of late I saw a movie on cable TV named ‘Constantine’ featuring Keanu Reeves and one sees the weirdest of concoction churned out to corrupt human discernment. God is powerful but then Satan (a human like person) too has power and God respects his authority. God has an actual human son in Heaven and so does Satan in Hell! The Angels / demons are like super power humans. We pray ‘Lord let your Kingdom come on earth’ meaning your rule be abided on this earth and these guys went beyond it they made Heaven into another earth!

In my 15years of teaching ministry only once did the Lord tell me to expose the ins and outs of who Satan are, what power does their goons have and as to how they attack or destroy us.

Christians do not have the basic knowledge that the Hebrew/Greek words for Satan are not singular but plural. They do not refer to the fallen angels or evil spirits but to the cherubim that control / lead these evil spirits. Moses used the terms snake and young lion (Psalms 91), Ezekiel uses the terms king of Tyrus and prince of Tyrus, Job uses the terms ape and crocodile, John of Patmos uses dragon and beast, so also in other scriptures we find them mentioned in different ways. Not being aware of the plurality people are confused as to how this character is with us yet bond in Hell and released just before Judgment Day.

People fail to understand it was God the Son who created the Heavens and the earthly creation including the Cherubim (plural - including Satan the 2 fallen cherubim) and the Angels (including the fallen angels) and it is He as man and transformed man leads us to defeat the fallen.

People should stop glorifying Satan and their goons for they have no power over us unless we allow them (the one who has power is bond in Hell). It is our carnal nature that gives them place in our lives and opportunity to control or use us. Their ultimate aim is our destruction not that they gain from it but because they are losing they want us too to lose since we are to gain what they lost and more.

Let us wake up to the fact we have control to allow / disallow Satan to destroy us and we also have the power to destroy Satan’s plans in the lives of others. Paul today points to forgiveness as one of those powers. Forgiveness is not forgetting but means to heal the hurts received by both the recipient and perpetrator of the crime.

Lord You are God and there is none like You. You are Creator of all that exist. You by the word of your mouth created all things and can destroy it too in the same way but since You knowing all created it for a purpose, thus your purpose is lifted up. Lord we humans that are comparative to mere worms are put on the center stage of your plans and You are making us worthy to become of it. Diversity among Christians

Romans 16:9 Salute Urbane, our helper in Christ, and Stachys my beloved.

Many a times I have come across people of other beliefs who after coming to the knowledge of the truth in Jesus Christ and accepted Him as their Lord and Savior make the grave mistake of changing their names to what they believe as ‘Christian’ names. Most of them think they need to change their names because Paul did and also because the Lord did to Simon, Abraham and Jacob.

As a Catholic I was given an additional baptism name as an infant, which I avoid using today not because I wanted to change my name but because in the civil system one is identified by one’s name, father’s name and family (sur) name. In the Bible people were identified by their name and if it was a common name then by the place or their father’s name, also many a times they were given nick names just for identification from others holding the same name. The nick names were mostly description of their personality, like Simon the son of Jona was called Peter/Cephas (small stone) by Jesus because he had half knowledge of things yet thought he knew everything.

Abram was called Abraham meaning father of the nations because God made a covenant with him and his (spiritual) seeds stating that many nations (not just Israelites) would be blessed in him.

Coming to Paul and Jacob. Paul did not change his name, his name was Paul (Roman name) Saul (Jewish name) since his father was a Roman and his mother a Jew. He initially hated his Roman origin and was passionate of his Jewish background, but later after coming to know the Lord he realized both were far from God and did not know Him. So he changed back to his original name Paul (which means small – Romans gave weird names, at times after objects gifted or bought the day of birth) as per civil system.

Israel was not a name change of Jacob but a promise to Jacob that is why many a times both the names were mentioned. This promise was fulfilled in Jesus Christ for the word Israel means Prince having power/authority in God, symbolizing Son of God and Jesus as human was the first to manifest the image of God as a Son of God. We who are in Christ led by the Holy Spirit will also be transformed from within to become Sons of God / Israel.

In today’s message we see the team of Paul had many women other than men co-workers and also we notice there were Romans as well as Greek who as Christians did not change their names, they became a living testimony to people of how God changed their lives.

I have a brother in Christ whose name is after a Hindu goddess and today is doing great work amongst the youth in India with the same name, his Hindu name becomes a reason to witness the testimony of Christ in him like Paul with a Roman name went about preaching Christ.

What are we witnessing?

2 Timothy 2:2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

Christians always think they are called to witness the death and resurrection of Christ and that is why they immediately talk about how we were sinners, how Christ died for us and today how we get to inherit eternal life.

In today’s message the scripture we see Paul an Apostle by Calling is instructing Timothy an Evangelist by Calling about witnessing Christ but here he is speaking verbal witnessing or teaching technicalities of scriptures but about how their lives were transformed through Christ. He speaks not of worldly abundance but of spiritual abundance, of how in difficult times God has carried them through and about the visibility of His Hand in their lives.

It is very natural for man to trust anything that has shown good results for others. People would get attracted to Christ if we project the change that Christ has done in our lives. As Gideons when we make presentations, testimonies pay a very important role to attract people to Christ. The amount of technical validations of scriptures is very less compared to the testimonies shared.

Faith and Love

1 Corinthians 13:1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become [as] sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

Some days back a Catholic was debating with me stating that a person is not saved by faith alone, if a person who loves others can also be saved, and he was quoting 1 Corinthians 13 verses to back his claim!

Catholics are not aware that the Catechism of the Catholic Church believes that Muslims and Jews also will go to Heaven since they use the term ‘God’ to the one they worship, provided they live a ‘good’ life. They negate the sacrifice of Christ and His sacrifice and that man can achieve righteousness by good works irrespective of the sins he has committed. They also use a spirit who comes as ‘Mary’ to be a mediator between them and their salvation, since they claim going directly through Jesus is very difficult! It is like saying Christ did not humble Himself enough!

Bible clearly says we are saved by grace and this grace is received by our faith in Christ. Faith is simply defined as believing in the truth and grace as all the mercy required.

Coming to love which is also a Fruit of the Spirit like faith is. Any person who does not know the truth has no love in them and anyone who does not have love does not have the truth in them. We may have varying proportions of love and truth but one without the other cannot exist.

Bible says ‘God is love’ and it also says ‘man can come to know God only through the Son’ this is because He manifested love and also because truth and grace is received through Him alone. Jesus said it is only when we follow Him will we come to know the truth and truth will set is free. Can we be followers of Christ without love?

All spiritual gifts like gift of Tongues or even Prophecy without Fruits of the Spirit are just loud senseless noise which benefit no one, not the recipients nor the processor of the gifts.

Gifts of the Spirit are good but without Fruits of the Spirit they will only cause us to get into worse situation like Balaam who was a mighty prophet and is mentioned even in NT but for all the wrong reasons.

Putting own agenda aside

Philippians 3:7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.

People who are baptized in the Holy Spirit will understand how they had to give up all the desires they held in their worldly lifetime.

Most people come to God to seek help for they have desires which they feel is good for them. They want to pursue higher education, better jobs, improve financial conditions, relationships with a person of the opposite sex, relocate abroad etc... But when they are baptized in the Holy Spirit the Lord sets them on a mission which is totally contrary to their plans and desires.

Let us understand we may possess worldly skills and may be thinking they being given by God has purpose for our increase in this world, but when we actually know God’s purpose in our lives worldly achievements do not matter. People say pray for the poor but do people realize it is easier to save the poor but very difficult to save the rich. The poor having nothing much can easily adapt to God’s plans but the rich has to get rid of all the great possession and desires to adapt to God’s plans.

If you find preachers who preaches about God and His Kingdom but has got great increase in his or her possessions ever since he or she started preaching then please be cautious about his or her teachings.

Battle of a Christian is against the flesh (worldly desires) and (false) teachings of this world. It does not mean he or she needs to live a life in poverty. I always say a poor Christian does not know God and a rich Christian has misunderstood God, true Christians are found mostly amongst the middle class.

Deceived for hearing man more than the Word

1 Thessalonians 5:3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

We Christians read the Bible and say we are people of the Book/ Word but in reality we give more importance to what people claim to say of the Bible say than what the Bible does.

Speak to any person who claims to have read the Bible and them ask about when the end comes, the first thing they say is there will be destruction and disasters everywhere, people will be killing and die in masses, earthquakes will happen, the sky will be darken and suddenly Christ will be visible in the sky coming with His army of Angels.

True the Bible speaks of disasters, destructions etc. but they miss the part which says that when we see such things happen not to fear the end is not at hand. End comes when nothing of these are happening. It is when there is utmost ‘peace’ and nothing bad is happening that suddenly the end comes. In Matthew Jesus says when people are making merry that the end comes.

Some few days back I wrote on we having entering the 6th seal (6th Church – Philadelphia) and that there is about 200 to 300 years before we enter the last stage (7th Church - Laodicea) or the time of Judgment. People responded “brother how is it possible we are near ‘end days’, Christ is coming any time now”.

We all know the story of the naughty shepherd boy who shouted false alarms of ‘wolf, wolf’ and caused the whole village to gather many a times but when the wolf really came and he shouted for help no one showed up. People are playing the part of that shepherd boy as already given in biblical prophecy. These people are causing others to spiritual sleep and to disbelieve in Judgment Day being at hand.

We can play the role of either Moses or Pharaoh, both were used for the glory of God, we can go by what the Lord says like Moses did and be benefactors of His glory or not listen like Pharaoh did and become the calamities of His glory. We have the choice as to where we stand and that depends on our understanding of the Word, we putting the Word of God above the word of man or we putting the word of man above the Word of God.

Lord You are Almighty God and You are said to dwell in the highest Heavens even though You are omnipresent and there is no place we can hide from You. It is your glory that is enthroned in the high Heavens thus called your dwelling place. Lord we pray we understand You created all things with a purpose and when the purpose is fulfilled the existence of these things cease. We pray we focus on the purpose more than the time of existence like Noah did when he was told the floods would come...

Is Christianity against Psychology  

2 Corinthians 10:12  For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

In Psychology they study human nature (inner-man), how environment (surrounding habitat), people and genealogy has impact on the nature. Psychology is not wrong for it looks through the natural even though the study is about mental. It sees the strong bond of natural with the inner-man. But when it comes to Christianity we do not give more importance to the natural as much as we give to the spirit. It is true the spirit of man is weak but when ‘God’ factor comes in, the spirit is strengthened then the equation changes.

Coming to today’s scripture, psychology will tell us to look at the mental and worldly aspect that is compare ourselves to ourselves or to others, Paul says it is ‘not wise’. Paul is not wrong since we give more importance to the spirit part of us, we know changes can happen through that area so we compare accordingly.

It is very important that we audit our spiritual growth every year and when we do that even though we look at ourselves as to how much we have grown let us not look at what we have done for ourselves but look at how we allowed or did not allow the Lord to work in us or through us.

Simple yet the most complex

Ephesians 3:3, 4 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)

We all use passwords and for anyone to guess our password is nearly impossible, if the person knows us closely then there are some, very remote chances of them guess but that too is one in a thousand if not a million. Now think if we all have to at least guess part of the password right and we all have only one try, you can then imagine the success rate, not even 1 in a trillion will get it right; understanding the Word is something like that and thus we all need divine help to get successful.

The Israelites are the most admired the world over for their knowledge and success in many fields. Being a very small population yet they have most number of noble prize winners. Yet when it comes to the Word of God they are like Solomon who was the wisest person in the whole world yet did the most foolish mistakes. Many a time I wonder these people speak the Biblical language and Bible history is their local history yet they lack clear understanding of the basics of the Bible.

Study of the Word of God is just impossible unless the Lord starts to reveal it to you. And mind you once the Lord starts revealing it, you just stand in awe of how simple the whole thing is and as to why did I not see it!

When the Lord started revealing the book of Revelation it was bits and pieces here and there. Later it became like knowing most pieces of a jigsaw puzzle but unable to put most of them together. Of late as I was led to study on the 7 letters to the 7 Churches I started to slowly get many of the jigsaw pieces into place and broadly understand the whole timeline.

By myself understanding the book of Revelation would have been like 1 in a trillion chance, but with divine help from the Lord it is very easy and simple.

Let us not take the Word of God likely even though it may look simple, understand we see not even the top of the iceberg and almost most of it is hidden deep within. Understanding the truth is what hold us away from God and the day we understand the truth completely (not just mentally know it but have it in us) then the end will come and we are set free from this natural creation so that we enter our Heavenly abode.

Unexpected Encounter

"Joseph said to his brothers, 'I am Joseph! Is my father still living?' But his brothers were not able to answer him, because they were terrified at his presence."  Genesis 45:3

Scripture Focus: Genesis 45

When they had sold him into slavery, Joseph's brothers never expected to see him again. Years later, as they bowed before the Egyptian leader, they couldn't imagine him to be their brother. As a boy, Joseph had seen this day in a dream, but his brothers didn't remember the dream, nor had they ever taken it seriously. So when Joseph revealed himself, they were terrified. 

A reunion that should have brought joy brought horror. Unexpectedly coming face to face with a broken relationship is difficult. Whether it was the result of a misunderstanding or a wrongdoing, when someone from the past suddenly appears, it can be unsettling. If you've known what that is like, now put yourself in the place of Joseph's brothers! God loves us too much to allow brokenness to fester. He heals our relationships. In the case of Joseph, through repentance and forgiveness, they became a family again, even recognizing God's hand in it for their good (vs. 7). 

God desires reconciliation. After all, He gave His only Son to purchase it for you.

Insight: "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." (Romans 8:28)

Israel is Zion and Zion is Israel

Romans 9:33  As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion (Zion) a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

Jesus stated he was the stone which the builder rejected (forsake) and which became the cornerstone. He also claimed to be the rock on which people will fall and be broken or on whom it will fall and grind them to powder.. So either way He causes change into the lives to people who come to know Him irrespective of them receiving or rejecting Him.

Christians and especially Men/Women of God do not realize the simple presence of them in the lives of others causes changes. Either they change die in the flesh and be transformed in Christ or their hearts will be hardened and they will see greater destruction.

The term Zion means fortified city and is a term used for the New Jerusalem. David in faith called his Jerusalem as Zion even though there were no walls around it. Solomon his ‘wise’ son saw no walls so built them. Today Jews who are also considered very ‘wise’ pray at whatever is left of this wall.

In southern India there is a Christian heretic cult which has named a place Zion and built a large complex /’Church’ claiming only those who live there will go to Heaven when ‘Rapture’ happens!

Isaiah uses the term Israel and Jesus translates it as Zion. Spiritual walk starts with Egypt (dual strait – children of God living worldly lives) and ends with Zion / Israel. It is about spiritual growth and nothing to do with place or title.

Only when we do Bible word study (language study) we understand the stages of spiritual growth and about spiritual gender then we will realize the term ‘Sons of God’ and how Jesus was the first ‘Israel’ a promise given to Jacob.

Let us seek to be Israel, to be Zion and the more we become Zion/Israel we will see the lives of people around us being transformed. It does not mean they all will be saved but means either will break or they will be crushed. Things will surely not be the same.

Walk in love and truth

2 John 1:4-6 I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father. And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another. And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.

Today’s scripture is taken from an epistle written by John to a woman who headed a church. Here we read about John as an Apostle and being one of the five who overlooked the operations of the churches in whole, exercising his authority in a humble way. John, James and Peter were a team that overlooked Christians with Jewish background thus this church would be people who were from a Jewish background although it existed in Alexandra, and this woman is assumed to be a high social status for John uses the term lady (kyría) and not woman (gynaíka) or sister (adelphe) in Christ. Some theologians also state since John was aged (letter is dated about 85AD) and the woman young thus John addressed her with respect.

Here we see John finds something good and something bad that existed in this church, the good part is that some of the people were walking in truth but the bad part was the church on the whole did not walk in love.

Love and truth was like 2 legs and one without the other makes the person lame. If we have love and do not walk in truth then we cannot stay in love for long and also if we say we know the truth but do not walk in love then that truth will not stay in us for long. If we have the truth then love will be a part of us and if we have true love then we will be knowing the truth else that love will be worldly and not true love. Bible says those who are spiritually lame or blind will not enter the Kingdom of God.

Those Christians who think they should only love people and ignore the truth (study scriptures) are fools and also those who think they can lock themselves in a room and study scriptures to know the truth are also fools. Jesus said when we follow Him we will know the Truth and the Truth will set us free. We all know Jesus was personification of love and He Himself studied scriptures from an early age.

Castor and Pollux

Acts 28:11  And after three months we departed in a ship of Alexandria, which had wintered in the isle, whose sign was Castor and Pollux.

The ship that took Paul is noted as having the Greek gods Castor and Pollux the sons of Jupiter as image heads. The mythology goes as Jupiter (king god) had two sons by Leda the queen and wife of Tyndarus, king of Sparta. After their death they were translated to heaven and received divine honors as constellation of Gemini (Twins). They are considered as protectors to especially sailors.

Humans cannot digest the fact that a divine omnipresent invisible God protects them. They was an image or human face to God and thus put humans before God as their protectors. In Hinduism and in Catholicism we find different characters (gods / saints) specialized protectors for various things from travelling, to losing objects, to vehicles, to pets, to studies etc... In Islam - Sunni type use various symbols as auspicious for different things while the Shia type are more like the Catholics of Islam.

The Israelites fell out with the Lord when they asked for a human king to rule over them. It is for this reason Jesus does not Judge over mankind us as Lord God the Son but as Son of Man. But in the case of David we see when David was given a choice of being punished at the hands of God (Angels) or man, he chose being punished at the hands of the Lord and not at the hands of man, he trusted the mercy of God more than man.

Believers trust their Pastors, church leaders and prayer leaders more than they trust God. It is not wrong to seek help from people when one is spiritually down but if it is always the same story then there is a grave problem that exist in that person.

Let us always remember there is no protector than God Himself. So let our eyes be focused on Him and Him alone.

Heavenly crown

Philippians 4:1 Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, [my] dearly beloved.

In today’s message we know Paul spoke of a heavenly crown and not an earthly crown. Salvation is not about just being saved and going to Heaven but also about receiving a high position in Heaven.

Bible in many places says we will rule a new earth and also says we will judge Angels. Many people especially Catholics do not realize they are denying resurrection when they believe in a natural earth after Judgment Day. They believe life will be as it is now only there will be no sorry, people will marry have children grow old.

People who humanize God who is eternal, I ask them why do they project Him as an old man, if He is ageless then how did He get old? One Hollywood movie beats the heights of stupidity by showing the Lord as a young boy talking to Moses.

Unless we really do not understand salvation and the purpose of Creation we will not understand the things beyond our world. Let us not be blind people but people of light who know the truth and have clear understanding of plans of God in our life and the things hidden.

Spirit bears witness to our inheritance right

Romans 8:16,17 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with [him], that we may be also glorified together.

Just the day before yesterday, my daughter was sharing about a classmate who was a confused atheist, she was not totally denying God but also saying God is not really God. Her problem was she had heard that people were delivered from spirits by fire (Hindus do not discern good and bad spirits) and she believed it. For her if fire could overpower a spirit then God who is spirit can be overpowered by fire, so how is He God! Many of her friends tried to explain her but she refused to believe them.

When my daughter told me this the first thing I asked her ‘who told you that fire can overpower a spirit’? She said she had heard it. The problem was all in her group believed that false information.

The problem with us is we do not verify facts and believe anything thrown at us. We do not have the basic understanding of spirit. When we use the term ‘spirit’ we think of human ghost as shown in movies. Christians foolishly use the term ‘ghost’ for the Holy Spirit without realizing ghost is a term for spirit of a dead person..

Evil spirits are not ghosts and nor is the Holy Spirit a ghost. In the Bible the spirit is described with the word breath which symbolizes life. So spirit is the life of the person. Life is not a characteristic or ability but an entity/being in itself. Soul/inner-man is the design or form of the spirit and is active/moldable when we are alive in the flesh. If our soul is in the image of God it has the gender Son and if not then is evil. In Spirit Kingdom there is no Son / Daughter but only Son / evil all because there is no mother in God’s Kingdom, He is both Himself (El Shaddai in traditional Hebrew means ‘strong breasted one’).

In today’s scripture the word used a children is the Greek word ‘teknon’ which comes from the root word ‘punishment’, it talks of a disciplined child. Today’s scriptures in simple words says we become Sons of God and inheritors of His Kingdom only if we are disciplined by the Holy Spirit.

Baptism as I mentioned before is about transforming to that which we are immersed in. So baptism of the Holy Spirit would need us to be transformed in spirit to be more like the Spirit of the Son whom we receive. In short we become like Christ through our baptism in the Holy Spirit.

Lord we pray we get into ourselves that flesh and blood cannot inherit your Kingdom and yet we keep loving the flesh. What we Preach do we Do?

2 Corinthians 10:11 Let such an one think this, that, such as we are in word by letters when we are absent, such [will we be] also in deed when we are present.

I have mentioned before the name of places have meanings and that meaning has great importance for our spiritual understanding of things. Jesus being born in Bethlehem which means House of Bread, becoming ‘Prophet of Galilee’ meaning Prophet of Turning  and crucified at Golgotha meaning Place of Skull (death) is not a coincident, but part of the message that God wants to give us.

The story of Israel starts in Egypt and ends with crossing the Jordan River to enter the Promised Land. The word Israel means Princes of God – symbolizing Sons of God the word Egypt means dual strait symbolizes one who is of God but lives a worldly life, Jordan means inheritance cross it symbolized proving ones right to inheritance on Judgment Day and Promised Land symbolized Heaven which is our real home and inheritance in the Lord.

In today’s message Paul talks of not being one of those who preach or write something and do another, these people are those who dwell in Egypt which is the starting point of a Son of God (Israel) from which God delivers them.

We need to understand even if we have all the knowledge of the Bible and preach great things but do not live them then we are citizens of Egypt, the start point and have not moved an inch in our spiritual lives, so we need God’s deliverance.

Let us look not only at what we know but more at what we do.

The biggest enemies are not those outside

Acts 23:31  Then the soldiers, as it was commanded them, took Paul, and brought [him] by night to Antipatris.

If we look at the cause of the crucifixion of Jesus or the martyrdom of the Apostles we see even though they died at the hands of the Romans yet the Romans did not desire to kill them, they were compelled to do so at the hands of the Jews, the Jewish Church leaders.

Jesus blamed the Jews for the death of the Men of God who were sent to them and called them children of Satan, He even called their leaders as poisonous serpents. The Jews were called ‘people of God’ but they also were the biggest enemies of God. There were few amongst them who really loved God and followed Him but most took the name of God and did what He hated most.

Ezekiel, Zechariah, Isaiah, Jeremiah wrote about the Jewish Church as the elder daughter of the prostitute woman. What is interesting is that this woman’s younger daughter is said to be more evil than the elder daughter and the deeds of the younger daughter are beyond the imagination of a human mind. Her sins as written are in multiplication of those of her elder sister but also her punishment is also in multiplication of her elder sister.

We normally think robbery, murder, fornication of the flesh are some of the worse sins but we do not realize in the eyes of God there are sins which will look normal to us but are hated most by Him. If we look in the OT there are some simple things like breaking the Sabbath where the punishment was given as stoning to death by the community (symbolizing spiritual death) but for murder the person was allowed to flee and the family members of the victim to pursue him and kill him only if they caught up with him (thus realizing that God yet had the option of saving him). Breaking of Sabbath was all about breaking our trust in God and is considered worse than murder. Not trusting God is equal to calling God a liar.

Let us not see ourselves as good or bad according to the eyes of the world by see ourselves through the eyes of God. Let us concentrate on the finer things so that we do not face great disappointment when we stand before His throne.

For God the greatest enemies are not those who do not know Him but those who know Him and misrepresent Him or are out to kill (spiritually or physically) His real Sons that too using His name.

What is Resurrection?

2 Timothy 2: 18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.

When one cross questions Christians on basic belief terms, one starts to wonder what are they believing in and hoping for. In my recent study of Church history and Bible prophecies as the Lord put would happen I was taken back myself at the insane things that the Church has been doing or believing in. This is not recent matter but started with people we call as ‘Church fathers’. Take the case of Ignatius who did speak some great understanding in his letters but was also the person concerning lots of rubbish that has infected Christianity especially concerning the ‘Catholic’ Church. He was key supporter of the Apocrypha (additional books of the OT which got added to the Catholic Bible in 1400AD) and did this even though there were many well-known leaders during his time who objected on the same.

Let us not follow people and their understanding blindly. Let us get to the root and understand it as the Bible puts it, not ignoring any scripture but keeping each and every scripture in consideration. The people spoken of in today’s scripture were also students of Paul but people who went haywire in their understanding.

Ask someone what is resurrection and the most common thing they say is ‘dead coming to life’. Ask them if the spirit dies, they will say no, then ask them what comes to life, and most will go blank, but some will even say the body comes to life!

The Greek word ‘Anastasis’ for Resurrection simply means to arise. The Christian term does not mean to wake up for when Jesus bought a dead to life it was not termed as resurrection. To resurrect one need to rise from a lower level to a higher level. Jesus resurrected because He had gone to a lower level Hell and came back by breaking its bonds. Hell is not controlled by Satan and his goons but controlled by the Angels of God.. Jesus simply challenged the rule that only a person who is forsaken by God and has sin in him or her remains in Hell. Jesus was forsaken by the Father on the crucifix and our sins were on Him thus He went to Hell. But since no sin was in Him, He could not be kept there. He became the first of the Resurrection from Hell.

There are records of people like Samuel who came from the grave when Saul used forbidden means to communicate with him. The word used there for Samuel is the same as resurrection. Jesus spoke to Moses and Elijah by transfiguring so as to not break the law and sin as Saul did in OT. Since Samuel, Moses and Elijah were no in Hell it is termed as resurrection of the dead. On Judgment Day when we rise, are judged and go to Heaven then it will be termed as Resurrection.

Catholics talk of eternal life and resurrection but when one goes into that what is stated in the Catechism of the Catholic Church as put on Vatican.va one gets confused as what they really believe in. This is not only their case but their understanding of resurrection and eternal life is also carried by many Believer Churches. All this happens because we do not understand the very purpose why God created the Heavens and earth, why God made the Angels and man, and allowed them to fall, that too knowing they would in the beginning, thus had already humbled Himself and began the sacrifice right in the beginning of doing this.

Lord You are Almighty God. You are eternal and You alone have life within yourself. You made the Angels and man knowing well they would fall and thus You humbled yourself in the beginning. You became one of us and thus showed us how we could become one with You. Lord we pray your people understand the purpose of creation of how things are going to change after Resurrection day when all those who sleep in You will rise and be judged. In your Word You clearly said your Kingdom is not of this world and that no flesh and blood can inherit your Kingdom thus we need to be transformed to be like the Angels who are neither married nor given in marriage...

Paul’s weighty letters

2 Corinthians 10: 9  That I may not seem as if I would terrify you by letters.

Paul as I mentioned in my previous messages was not just a person but an institute. Although his letters were authored under his guidance yet many a times it was written by people in his team. These letters even today cause many to be spiritually shaken.

The irony of Paul’s letters is that leaving for his letter to Ephesians which is a generic letter (although named as Ephesians it was written to all Churches) all his other letters were written specifically to Churches which were spiritually struggling. In his letters itself Paul confesses the people he wrote to were people who lived on milk and thus Paul was unable to feed them solid food. Now it was this spiritual milk that shook the people then and still does even today!

Paul in a nutshell was a PhD student selected to teach junior school (children of Israel), along with being head master (rulers - leaders of the Church) and person in charge to new enrollments (Gentiles).

Our knowledge and understanding of scriptures is so bad because of the attitude of leaders that the Bible needs to be simple. At times it is disheartening to hear key important leaders of Churches saying ‘oh you are going into small details’.

Christ said the treasure of the Kingdom of God is in the small details, when we dig into the land to find the treasure. We be happy with the nice marble stones on the top but miss the precious gems and diamonds buried deep below.

It is time we really study the Bible and go beyond simple commentaries and also beyond the letters of Paul. It is time we study the OT as Paul and Jesus Christ, understood and preached.
