Trump and first lady test positive for coronavirus
(AP) – President Donald Trump said early Friday that he and first lady Melania Trump have tested positive for the coronavirus, a stunning announcement that plunges the country deeper into uncertainty just a month before the presidential election.
Trump, who has spent much of the year downplaying the threat of a virus that has killed more than 205,000 Americans, said he and Mrs. Trump were quarantining. The White House physician said the president is expected to continue carrying out his duties “without disruption” while recovering.

President Trump taken to Walter Reed Military Medical Center as a ‘precautionary measure’
UPDATE: (ETH) – President Donald Trump has been taken to Walter Reed Medical Center “out of an abundance of caution” following his coronavirus diagnosis, according to a statement from the White House. The move is reportedly being made “as a precautionary measure,” according to a senior administration official.
“President Trump remains in good spirits, has mild symptoms, and has been working throughout the day,” press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said in a statement to reporters at the White House.

Backlash is swift and intense when Bette Midler attacks Melania Trump: 'She still can’t speak English'
'Get that illegal alien off the stage!'

Hollywood star Bette Midler learned the hard way not to attack first lady Melania Trump over her ability to speak English.
POLL: Who had the best speech at Night 2 of the RNC?
What's the background?
The first lady headlined the second night of the Republican National Convention, delivering a well-received speech in which she urged Americans to unify while making the case that her husband, President Donald Trump, is the better of the 2020 presidential candidates.
"We all know Donald Trump makes no secrets about how he feels about things. Whether you like it or not, you always know what he's thinking, and that is because he is an authentic person who loves this country and its people," Mrs. Trump said.
What did Midler say?
While live-tweeting through the RNC speeches, Midler called the first lady an "illegal alien" — and mocked her ability to speak English.
"#beBest is back! A UGE bore! She can speak several words in a few languages. Get that illegal alien off the stage!" Midler said.

She followed it up with, "Oh, God. She still can't speak English."
Oh, God. She still can’t speak English.

Later, Midler compared Melania to a mail-order bride. "I'm surprised Trump wants to destroy the #PostOffice. He got all his wives from it," Midler said.
What was the response?
Midler's comments, especially about Melania's English-speaking abilities, triggered immediate backlash. That tweet in particular has received more than 50,000 comments as of Wednesday morning.
People were angry that Midler so callously attacked Melania, who was born in Slovenia and reportedly speaks six languages: Slovenian, English, Serbian, Italian, German, and French.
Midler was accused of racism and xenophobia:
"There is no one as racist and xenophobic as the tolerant left. To think that when I was growing up in Africa I fiercely admired you and many others who now are showing how low and hateful they can be. I'm ashamed for you," one person said.
"As a Mexican immigrant I am very offended at your prejudice! My hard working parents with accents love and value this country! We put everything into what we do and do not expect to be treated unfairly because we may not sound like you ! Practice what you preach!" another person said.
"Oh hey look everyone... a washed up, dumpy old lady racist," another person responded.
"She speaks 6 languages, English is one of them. How about you?" another person said.
"You are the epitome of everything you hate," another person pointed out.
"Attacking an immigrant because of her accent. The loving and tolerant left," another person responded.
"I'd rather listen to Melania speak than listen to you sing," another person mocked.
"No, she's just speaking with an accent. You, however, are a fool in any language," Ben Shapiro said.
"An immigrant woman, who doesn't have English as her first language, just got up on on a stage and was so gracious that she refused to attack classless people like you and instead focused on hope and positivity. I'll take her accent over your ghoulishness any day," another person said.

First lady Melania Trump condemned recent remarks from Food Network host John Henson after he tweeted about her son, Barron Trump, on Father's Day.

In a since-deleted Sunday tweet, Henson wrote, "I hope Barron gets to spend today with whoever his dad is."
What are the details?
On Monday, Stephanie Grisham — the first lady's spokesperson — scolded Henson's remarks.
"Sadly we continue to see inappropriate and insensitive comments about the President's son [Barron Trump]," Grisham said on behalf of Melania.
"As with every other Administration, a minor child should be off limits and allowed to grow up with no judgment or hate from strangers and the media," she said.
Despite deleting the tweet, Henson later defended himself from critics, insisting that the joke was aimed at the president rather than Barron.
He wrote, "With respect, I think you dissecting it is the issue. The joke was aimed at Trump and the mere mention of Barron's name doesn't mean it's at his expense. Although I respect your right to take issue with it."

Anything else?
On Wednesday, New York Post columnist Miranda Devine echoed the first lady's sentiments about leaving the couple's minor son out of politics and unrelated agendas.
Devine, who appeared on Fox News' "Fox & Friends," said, "You may hate President Trump, but don't attack his child, his teenage son."
"It's utterly despicable that a Food Network host would use Father's Day to target a child, a 14-year-old boy who has done nothing wrong," Devine added. "He has no choice about who his family is."
Devine said that even though Henson clearly didn't break the law by targeting Barron, it was wildly inappropriate to target the 14-year-old.
"He's a Food Network host and no one is going to put him in jail for making a really nasty joke, but he should be ashamed of himself for targeting a child," she insisted. (The discussion on Food Network host's tweet starts at 2:10 mark.)

Left-wing late-night CBS host Stephen Colbert honored the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King in his opening monologue on Monday by quoting First Lady Melania Trump’s tweet about the Civil Rights leader, cruelly mimicking her Slovenian accent and claiming that she really wants to be “free at last.”
“Let’s start off the evening on a positive note: Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day. A beautiful day to celebrate, a beautiful message to remember,” Colbert said before targeting Mrs. Trump. “Both the president and the first lady noted the day on Twitter. “Melania’s tweet was short and sweet. ‘Together we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. #MLKDay.’”
Riffing on a famous line from Dr. King’s “I Have a Dream” speech, Colbert said “She really relates to Dr. King’s message, especially the part about wanting to be ‘free at last.’ It’s what I heard. It’s what I heard.”
Colbert continued to twist the knife. “The oddest thing about that tweet was the graphic she used, which just said ‘MLK Day.’ Timely…and factual,” Stephen Colbert continued. “And I’m being told we have a preview of the first lady’s tweet for tomorrow: Together we honor — Tuesday, January 21.’ Again, so truthful.”
Colbert’s bigoted Melania Trump barbs — bigoted because he never came close to throwing the same invective at Michelle Obama — came on the eve of President Donald Trump’s Senate impeachment trial. So you know Colbert couldn’t resist.

First Lady Melania Trump criticized a Democrat impeachment witness for making fun of her teenage son Barron Trump’s name during the impeachment hearing.
“A minor child deserves privacy and should be kept out of politics. Pamela Karlan, you should be ashamed of your very angry and obviously biased public pandering, and using a child to do it,” the first lady wrote on Twitter.

During the impeachment hearings, Stanford Law Professor and Appellate Attorney Pamela Karlan used Trump’s son Barron as an example of why President Trump could not use his power to bestow titles of nobility, unlike a king.
“So while the president can name his son Barron, he can’t make him a baron,” Kaplan said in response to a question from Rep. Shelia Jackson Lee during the hearing.
Earlier in the afternoon, White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham also voiced her disgust.
“Classless move by a Democratic ‘witness,'” Grisham wrote on Twitter. “Professor Karlan uses a teenage boy who has nothing to do with this joke of a hearing (and deserves privacy) as a punchline.”
Democrats in the impeachment hearing laughed at the comparison, despite Kaplan clearly making fun of Barron Trump’s name.
Grisham condemned all of the Democrats in the room for laughing.
“What’s worse, it’s met by laughter in the hearing room,” she wrote. “What is being done to this country is no laughing matter.”
Young children of presidents are traditionally considered by Americans to be off-limits for mockery or criticism.
Others on Twitter also criticized Kaplan for her awkward political stunt, including Donald Trump Jr.

It’s a lot of flap over a button flap.
Liberal loathing has never been in short supply when it comes to the beautiful, multilingual wife of the president they despise, but anti-Trump Twitter users brought a new kind of disgrace on themselves Wednesday with a manufactured controversy over a coat first lady Melania Trump wore in a tweet posted by President Donald Trump to commemorate 9/11.
And a word from the White House sums the latest “controversy” best: “ridiculous.”
At issue, as USA Today reported, was a feature of the first lady’s outer garment.
The photo, which was not taken during the memorial ceremonies in Washington (the first lady wore a Ralph Lauren dress for those, USA Today reported), showed the president in a suit jacket and his wife in a long coat.

To some of the more deranged victims of Trump Derangement Syndrome, it appeared that Melania’s coat carried a sinister image of what appeared — to a sufficiently diseased mind — to be a plane-like object crashing into a tower.

Joe Scarborough revives rumors that Melania Trump cried when her husband was elected
September 2, 2019 by Jerry McCormick
The media works overtime to take negative shots not only at Trump but also at his marriage whenever possible.
https://www.patriotnewsalerts.com/scarborough-revives-melania-rumors/?utm_medium=ci&utm_source=push&utm_campaign=pna
After the firing of the president’s personal assistant, MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough tried to revive the disputed rumor that Melania Trump cried after her husband won the 2016 election, according to Mediaite — and not tears of joy.
Had to be Fired
MSNBC host Joe Scarborough was discussing the recent firing of Trump’s personal assistant Madeleine Westerhout.
Westerhout apparently spilled some personal stories about the Trump family during an off-the-record conversation with journalists. However, the media outlet decided to publish the comments, bringing considerable heat down on Westerhout.
President Trump was unusually kind in his comments about Westerhout after her firing, and he even stated that he forgave her for her comments.
Scarborough agreed that Westerhout should have been fired, but then he took a cheap shot at Trump by likening the tears allegedly shed by Westerhout on election night to the report in Michael Wolff’s controversial book Fire & Fury that Melania Trump also cried on election night.
Tears of Sadness
According to Wolff’s book, Melania burst into tears when Trump was elected president. However, the tears were not of joy, especially given the fact that Donald Trump had allegedly told Melania there was no way he would ever be able to win the election.
A similar story was told in a Tim Alberta book.
Both authors make it sound as though Trump’s decision to run for office was nothing more than a publicity stunt that backfired. The story they told was eerily reminiscent of the plotline for the 1972 movie, The Candidate.
According to the tale, only after Trump was elected did he actually believe that he could do the job and deserved to win.
The White House has already pushed back on the story told by Wolff, insisting his version was completely false (not the first “fact” to be disputed in the book).
There was no need for Scarborough to bring this up other than to take another cheap shot at the Trumps. It is a classless move, but sadly, it is typical of the scrutiny and bias the Trumps receive routinely from today’s media personalities.

FLOTUS, Canadian PM cheek kiss sends internet into a frenzy
August 27, 2019 by Jerry McCormick
Leave it to the trolls to make something out of nothing just to take a cheap shot at President Donald Trump.
After first lady Melania Trump greeted Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau with a cheek kiss at the G7 Summit, the trolls came out in force to suggest something more was going on.
The Trolls Come Out
While the discussions at the summit should have been the big news, the trolls came out to try to make something out of nothing.
Our first lady has greeted plenty of guests at the White House and at meetings such as this with a friendly peck, as have the first ladies before her and the spouses of other world leaders.
The anti-Trumpers came out in force, though, to suggest Melania was looking at Trudeau with a longing to get away from Trump.

Media, Dems rip first lady over photo with orphaned infant in El Paso
https://www.patriotnewsalerts.com/dems-rip-first-lady/?utm_medium=ci&utm_source=push&utm_campaign=pna
August 13, 2019 by Jerry McCormick
The media won’t admit it, but when the president and first lady went to El Paso and Dayton, there were considerable numbers of supporters there to receive them positively.
The Trumps posed for pictures with them, including the couple that would be taking care of an orphaned child whose parents were killed in the attack, and the media went absolutely nuts about it.
The Pictures
Melania Trump posted a series of pictures on her social media accounts highlighting the visits.
The one picture that really set everyone off was Melania holding an orphaned child, with the president giving a “thumbs up” gesture and two supporters smiling.
There are three things about the picture not everyone knows, though. First, the two individuals in the picture are Trump supporters.
Second, the orphaned child is their nephew, whom they will more than likely be raising now.
Third, the parents of that child were also Trump supporters.
Providing Some Solace
Democrats and the media accused both Trump and the first lady of acting without empathy, but that was far from the case.
There were both videos and still shots where the setting was clearly somber. However, in this case, these individuals wanted something uplifting to ease the horrific situation.
So, they asked the president and the first lady to take a picture with them and the child, which they did. That is a photo they will cherish forever, knowing the president they supported took the time to meet with them in the midst of such tragedy.
Would they rather the Trumps posed crying with the couple so that image is forever burned in their minds or have something hopeful to which they can point in the future?
These senseless hits against Melania Trump must stop, as she has done nothing but devote herself to this country and her role as the first lady and for most of us, she has performed well beyond our wildest dreams.

First Lady accompanies President Trump to visit shooting victims
August 9, 2019 by Jerry McCormick
Say what you want about President Donald Trump, the man is not afraid to walk straight into a fire, even if when he knows he is in a lose-lose situation.
Melania Trump has shown the same resilience, often accompanying Trump on these trips, just as she did during the visits to hospitals in both Dayton and El Paso.
Walking into the fire
For several days, Democrats told Trump to stay away from these cities. Beto O’Rourke was among the first to suggest Trump was the actual cause of the shooting.
Once he put it out there, both the media and Democrats rallied around the lie. This created a very hostile situation for Trump in both Dayton and El Paso, but he and the First Lady went anyway.
As it turns out, many people in both cities were happy to see the President.

The family of one victim in which both parents were killed, leaving a newborn baby behind, actually asked the President to take a picture with them
In what must be one of the worst moments of their life, having a picture with the President while holding the nephew they must now raise surely lifted their spirits at least a little.
Media slant
That particular picture went viral. Of course, both the President and First Lady were lambasted by the media. However, as in most situations, the actual circumstances of the picture were presented in a misleading way.
The media concentrated on the fact the First Lady was smiling and Trump was giving a thumbs-up.
Most outlets did not offer the insight that both the victim and the surviving family were reportedly Trump supporters.
The media made an assumption, apparently a very wrong one, just to make the President and the First Lady look bad to Americans.
Donald and Melania Trump have received the bodies of our fallen with family members, they have traveled to see victims of natural disasters, and now they have visited the survivors of two of the most horrific shootings we have ever seen… yet the media still attacks them and twists the facts. Sad.

(CNN)First lady Melania Trump underwent kidney surgery Monday at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center near Washington, DC, according to a statement from her office.
Trump had been experiencing an issue with her kidney that her office described as benign but requiring medical attention.
"This morning, first lady Melania Trump underwent an embolization procedure to treat a benign kidney condition. The procedure was successful, and there were no complications," the first lady's communications director, Stephanie Grisham, said in a statement.
"Mrs. Trump is at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and will likely remain there for the duration of the week. The first lady looks forward to a full recovery so she can continue her work on behalf of children everywhere," Grisham wrote.
President Donald Trump remained in the White House during Melania Trump's surgery. He tweeted just after 5 p.m. Monday that he was heading to hospital to visit his wife in Marine One.
"Heading over to Walter Reed Medical Center to see our great First Lady, Melania. Successful procedure, she is in good spirits. Thank you to all of the well-wishers!" Trump tweeted.

Trump, who turned 48 last month, had surgery at Walter Reed in nearby Bethesda, Maryland, on Monday morning.
She is the first US first lady to undergo such a serious medical procedure while in the White House since Nancy Reagan had a mastectomy in October 1987. Rosalynn Carter underwent surgery to remove a benign lump from her breast in April 1977. Weeks after Betty Ford became first lady, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a mastectomy in September 1974.

The first lady did not move to Washington until six months into the administration, choosing to let their son, Barron, finish the 2017 school year in New York. More recently, Melania Trump has had a more public profile. On April 24, she and the President hosted the first official state dinner of the Trump administration, an event that was planned and executed primarily by the first lady.
Trump was responsible for every aspect of the formal dinner in honor of French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron, from the hand-selected ivory tablecloths to the menu, which the first lady designed to meld American food with French influence. During the welcome ceremony leading up to the dinner, Melania Trump stole headlines, wearing a crisp white Michael Kors Collection suit with a matching white hat, custom-made by her personal couturier. The hat set the internet ablaze, with references and comparisons to Beyoncé, the suffragette movement and even television character Olivia Pope of "Scandal."
On May 7, Trump, a relatively private first lady by comparison to her most recent predecessors, was once again front and center, this time to unveil her formal platform, Be Best. She kicked off the initiative with a Rose Garden speech lasting 11 minutes, the longest public speaking engagement during her 16-month tenure as first lady.
Be Best is a three-pronged platform with a focus on opioid addiction and families, general physical and emotional well-being of children, and kindness and safety for kids using social media. The latter caused a firestorm of controversy because it encompasses cyberbullying, a tactic that Melania Trump's husband, the President, has often been accused of fueling. In March, the first lady addressed the criticism she has faced by taking up the issue during opening remarks to a meeting she convened at the White House for tech industry leaders from Google, Snap, Twitter, Facebook, Amazon and others.

"I am well-aware that people are skeptical of me discussing this topic," she said. "I have been criticized for my commitment to tackling this issue, and I know that will continue. But it will not stop me from doing what I know is right."
Melania Trump has also appeared with her husband several times in recent weeks. He was seated in the front row during her Be Best speech, after which he made remarks praising her commitment to helping children, and he was again second to speak, after his wife, during the Military Mothers and Spouses Ceremony on Friday in the White House East Room.
"She's become a very, very popular first lady. I'm reading that ... They love Melania," the President said. A new CNN poll released May 7 had the first lady's favorable rating up 10 points since January to 57%.

President Trump continues to confound the media with many of the decisions he makes on a daily basis, and he isn’t known for worrying about how he’s perceived by the talking heads and Beltway elite. This fact made itself even more evident recently at a stop in Alabama to survey this week’s devastating tornado damage.
A camera crew from a local NBC affiliate captured Trump warmly and unreservedly embracing victims of the tornado outbreak in Lee County that left nearly two dozen dead and many more injured.
Not playing to the cameras
When viewing the video, it is obvious that President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump didn’t care that their every move was being recorded; they never even acknowledged the presence of cameras. Instead, as the couple stood with a small group of victims in front of a mountain of debris — presumably once a home — they simply spent time with fellow Americans in crisis.
Melania can be seen speaking to another woman, while the president converses with an older gentleman. While dialogue is hard to make out, the man can be heard saying “thank you” with a smile as they both moved in for a hug at about the same time. A lady standing nearby says “I’m next” and all three embrace as one for several moments. It is a truly powerful scene.
As reported by NBC News, via an account from the Associated Press, President Trump later spoke about his experience during the visit. “We saw things you wouldn’t believe,” Trump said. “What they went through is incredible. One woman lost 10 people in her family.”
Another first-hand account shows President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump holding hands as they viewed a memorial for the victims in the form of a line of 23 crosses set up on the lawn of Providence Baptist Church in Opelika, a town near where most of the tornado damage was sustained. This moment was posted to Twitter by none other than MSNBC.

Trump’s visit marked an event that the typically hostile mainstream media could not ignore or twist into something dishonest. It was the president of the United States, far more compassionate than he’s often painted, showing care and concern for Americans who lost so much. At one point, he even signed Bibles upon request of some admirers.

“She just reached out there and said, ‘Mr. President, would you sign this?'” said Melissa Pike, one of the clean-up volunteers, recounting the touching ask made by her 10-year-old daughter, Meredith. Trump signed the young girl’s Bible, followed by the first lady. The couple also signed a Bible for one of the girl’s friends.
Then, before leaving the church, which was being used as a relief center, Trump remarked on FEMA’s response to the disaster, saying the agency has done “an incredible job” and that he appreciated their “quick acting.”
“We love you all. We love the state of Alabama,” Trump said to chants of “USA!” in the background. To an extent, this moment recalled the feeling of another time American history — September 11, 2001 — where President George W. Bush rallied rescue workers and victims. It was about the love of country and coming together. That’s it.
President Trump also honored the victims through his Twitter account. “Unimaginable loss – Such great people!” he wrote, retweeting a story about the Alabama tornado. He even posted a touching video tribute to the victims, which is nearly a minute long and has been seen over a million and a half times.
First Lady Melania Trump used her Twitter account to post reflections about her experience as well. “On our way to visit the great people of Alabama!” she tweeted with photos and an American flag emoji. She also shared the same video tribute as her husband and wrote, “Keeping the people of Alabama in our thoughts & prayers. We are with you.”

Alabama woman with brain tumor receives personal letter from President Donald Trump, first lady

The nation just got a little taste of something the Trumps have been doing under the radar for years.
When the president and first lady heard of the challenges facing a cancer patient in Alabama, they took the time to write her a personal letter with words of encouragement for her recovery.
Small Actions
What took President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump just a couple of minutes to do will likely have a lasting impact on a young lady.
Donald Trump regularly did small things like this as a private citizen, but his actions never made national headlines.
But despite lack of media coverage, Trump regularly scanned the newspapers for personal interest stories. On many occasions, it would result in Trump investigating the story himself and even writing a check or sending something to the family to show his support.
Now, as president, it seems Trump has kept that practice alive. When he heard the story of Rachel Robbins, the president made sure she knew he was behind her recovery efforts.
Make A Wave
Robbins, who is 27, is someone the media would like to believe does not exist: a young, female conservative who supports Trump.
Unfortunately, Robbins, a nursing student at the University of Southern Alabama, was recently diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor.
After her surgery, she was “amazed” to find out that President Trump had sent her a personal note to encourage her recovery along.
“I was just amazed, honestly, I couldn’t believe it,” she said. “I felt very honored that the president of the United States of America heard my story and was praying for me from the White House.”
She was even more impressed that Trump mentioned God in his letter, calling on the Lord “for healing and my recovery.”
This is the real Donald Trump that sadly, few in this country will ever get to hear about.

Ivanka Trump has a charming smile, but make no mistake about it: when there is an issue close to her heart, she can have the glare of a stone-cold killer.
On her way to the White House to discuss human trafficking issues, the press corps noted that icy stare on Ivanka’s face.

Ivanka Trump has been characterized as everything from a princess to a Barbie doll by the media — but that comparison is simply not fair.
When in public, she is often very accommodating and pleasant, but she is all business behind closed doors.
Those who have come up against her in business — and, more recently, at the White House — have noted that she can be as stubborn as a mule when she’s dealing with something she is passionate about.
That must have been the Ivanka everyone saw on Friday morning as she was preparing for what was no doubt a traumatic meeting about human trafficking problems, many of which occur along our southern border.
Humanitarian Crisis
When Trump speaks of a humanitarian crisis at the border that warrants declaring a national emergency, this is what he’s talking about.
There are thousands of unaccompanied children sent across our weak borders every year. Sadly, far too many of them are part of human trafficking chains set up by criminals and cartels.
These children are not coming here for a better life, but rather a life of enslavement — often of a sexual nature.
This must be addressed, and it must be stopped.
The human trafficking problem at the border due to lax security is a real one, but Democrats have simply refused to acknowledge that. Meanwhile, President Trump has stated that he will use extreme measures if Democrats refuse to add a border wall to the pending federal budget.
With Dems unlikely to cave on the border wall, Trump will more than likely have to declare a national emergency to secure the funding.
While Dems will no doubt kick this to the courts and fight him every step of the way, it will be hard to argue against a border wall when pictures of these children start to show up all over the media.

Former aide: Melania Trump actively protects her husband from disloyal staffers

First lady Melania Trump has said “you’re fired” to more than one White House staffer, according to a new tell-all book about the intrigue and chaos at the Trump White House.
Far from the helpless, unhappily married woman the media makes her out to be, Melania Trump is a force to be reckoned with and plays an active role in protecting her husband from treacherous staffers, according to the book’s account of the first couple.
The Washington Examiner obtained an advance copy of former Trump aide Cliff Sims’ “Team of Vipers,” released Tuesday.
Book: Melania is a strong force
“Team of Vipers” is the latest in a series of sensational accounts of the inside workings of the White House. President Donald Trump has had a notoriously difficult time keeping track of which staffers he can trust within the ambitious, cutthroat environment of the West Wing, but according to Sims’ account, Melania is not an idle observer of the chaos.
While media reports usually portray Melania as either an air-headed model, a passive partner trapped in an unsatisfying marriage, or a quietly rebellious wife, Sims’ book paints a different picture. According to Sims, Melania has lobbied for treacherous staffers to be fired on numerous occasions.
That’s not Melania’s only affinity with the Donald. According to Sims, Melania is a “savvy consumer of news” and she spends a lot of time keeping up with media’s coverage of her husband’s administration.

The book describes an incident in which Melania warned her husband about a Politico story that claimed that his then-communications director Michael Dubke had told White House staff that Trump’s foreign policy was unfocused and needed a “re-brand.” Dubke denied the story and resigned within a month.
A New York Times review of the book notes the book “[defies] public perception of their marriage” and describes Melania as “protective” of the president.

Sims’ account also contradicts the media’s depiction of Melania as unwilling in her role as first lady. Sims provides a different account of Melania’s reaction to her husband’s election night victory, which, according to unproven rumors peddled by the media, was not a happy one.
British paper The Daily Telegraph recently ran a cover story which printed the popular but false claim that Melania cried when the election was called for her husband. The paper agreed to pay damages to Melania and apologized for the claim along with several others typical of the media’s treatment of her, which painted Melania as riding the coattails of her husband’s success in launching her modeling career.

Time-Honored Tradition
The tradition of the first lady visiting the children’s hospital dates back more than six decades.
It is one of those understood “duties” of the first lady — but it is also one Melania Trump absolutely loves and enjoys.
During her visit, Melania sat with a group of children and read them the book, Oliver the Ornament.
One look at the smiling faces of the children and it was quite apparent that they look forward to this visit just as much as the first lady does.
About That Approval Rating…
Despite her great work at the children’s hospital, the mainstream media spent the last week reporting about Mrs. Trump’s declining approval rating.
This was the first time the first lady’s approval rating has fallen since she became first lady.
But despite the reported opinion of the general public, among the parents and workers at the children’s hospital, there was nothing but admiration for the first lady.
Melania received a rousing round of applause at the event, and many of the parents and workers seemed just as happy as the children were to meet her.
Meanwhile, it remains baffling that the media still looks for ways to criticize Mrs. Trump.

Melania has proven to be worthy of the title of first lady at every measure, and has never sought out headlines.
She is a classy woman who should be celebrated, not criticized and shredded constantly by an obviously biased media.

Melania Trump is keeping a decades-old White House tradition alive in grand style.
The First Lady was decked out in a white dress with a red and white striped “festive” coat while visiting the Children’s National Hospital in Washington earlier this month.

Trump.

Laura Bush publicly thanks Melania Trump for reaching out after her father-in-law’s death

Death has a funny way of bringing unlikely foes together.
In this case, it was a kind gesture by Melania Trump that has apparently started the mending of the fences between the Trumps and the Bush family.
Reaching Out
It is no secret that there has been more than a bit of animosity between the Trump and Bush families.
This all started during the 2016 campaign season when Trump went on an all-out assault against Jeb Bush, former President George W. Bush’s brother and the late Bush 41’s son.
Jeb was considered to be one of the three most likely to give Trump a run for his money in 2016 alongside Sens. Marco Rubio (FL) and Ted Cruz (TX).
The problem, though, was that “Jeb!” had all the Republican elite money behind him, so Trump had to go after him first.
Jeb Bush was not innocent in all of this, as he and his family threw more than a few jabs at Trump.
They gave as good as they got, but former first son came out on the short side of things and was dispatched fairly early in the election process.
When the primary season was over, there was no kissing and making up, though, as usually happens.
The former presidents and presidential candidate refused to endorse the candidate from their own party and refrained from voting for him.
Additionally, since the election, George W. Bush has made several statements criticizing Trump.
But Melania Trump apparently wanted to put that all behind everyone by inviting Laura Bush and her family to come back to the White House to say hello to staff as well as personally see this year’s Christmas display while they were in Washington for George H.W. Bush’s funeral.
Moving Forward
The public thank-you from Laura Bush will go a long way to making some peace between these two families in a dispute has become the modern-day equivalent to the Hatfields and McCoys.
The former first lady even made a post on Instagram with a picture of her family at the White House, stating: “Thanks to Mrs. Trump for inviting our family to the White House to see Christmas decorations and our old friends, the residence staff.”
Do you think Melania Trump is a good first lady?

Some of the pictures taken over the last few days show a much friendlier attitude between all parties, though Jeb was noticeably absent.
Perhaps that fence needs a bit more mending before Jeb is willing to come back into the fold.

Melania Trump calls out ‘fake news’ media in fundraising email
November 4, 2018 by Ben Marquis

For the most part, first lady Melania Trump keeps out of the D.C. hubbub. Instead, she has put her efforts into her “Be Best” campaign, promoting children’s well-being, both at home and abroad.
However, it’s crunch time, the final days before the midterm elections, and even the first lady is lending a hand. In an email to supporters of the president, Melania Trump called out the “opposition media” for spreading “fake news” to discredit the Trump administration.
NBC News reported that the email, sent on behalf of the Republican National Committee, went out to supporters and potential voters on Saturday.
Prove the “fake news” media wrong
In the email, the first lady suggested that was incumbent upon voters to help President Donald Trump “prove that the Democrats and media are wrong” about him, his agenda and his legion of supporters.
“Democrats and the opposition media are doing everything they possibly can to discredit Donald with false accusations by spreading their fake news and making it appear that he does not have the support of America’s voter,” said the president’s wife.
“This is a battle we must win together. I’m asking you and other Americans across the country to personally register your support and help prove that the Democrats and media are wrong,” she added.
The first lady is absolutely right in her message to Trump-supporting voters, and though she typically keeps a distance from the rough-and-tumble partisan squabbles, her voice is gladly welcomed in the current fight.
Not first pushback against media
This isn’t the first time that Melania Trump has called out the “fake news” media for their dishonesty toward her or her husband.
Indeed, on many occasions over the past two years, she — both directly and through her spokeswoman — has excoriated the media and biased reporters for their blatant lies and slanted half-truths.
Ironically, her pushback against the media bullies only seems to bring on even more hateful attacks from the left, which in essence proves her point — that the Trump family and their supporters are treated unfairly.
Are you glad to see the first lady call out the "fake news" media?

We completely understand why Melania Trump tends to shy away from the grind of daily politics, but we are pleased she has stepped up to support her husband and his party in this critical midterm election fight.

Melania Trump reacts to Pittsburgh synagogue massacre: ‘The violence needs to stop’

The Attack
When details of the shooting were first publicized, it appeared as though the shooter had been stopped early enough to prevent massive numbers.
Shortly afterward, though, it became apparent that this shooting was far more devastating than anyone had first thought.
When the smoke had cleared, close to a dozen people were believed to be dead, with several others injured.
Some said that had the four police officers who injured in the incident not put their lives at risk, the death toll would have even higher.
All in all, 11 were killed on Saturday by gunman Robert Bowers.
A United Country
Throughout all of this, there has been a steady message of unity being preached by both sides of the aisle.
We cannot help but be a bit skeptical if this is lip service or everyone truly means it.
Over the last two years, the amount of rhetoric thrown around by both sides and the media have poured fuel on an already out-of-control fire in this country.

Melania Trump said Donald would be a ‘great leader’ when she was dating him – in 1999

An old interview conducted in 1999 with Melania Trump for ABC News is suddenly getting a second life.
The in-depth interview offered an inside look at Melania — something we rarely see these days — including how even then, Melania thought her future husband Donald would make a “great leader.”
Take a look:
The Early Days
The interview occurred in New York City during a photo shoot for the North Shore Animal League America campaign.
The very young Melania, whose last name was “Knauss” at the time, was obviously quite smitten with her then boyfriend and future husband.
Her insight as to what “might” happen in her future if married Trump was quite amazing.
She said she’d put her career on hold and stand by her man if she had the opportunity to become first lady of the United States.
She also said saw herself as a Jackie Kennedy type and would be involved with several initiatives.
It was almost as though she was looking in a crystal ball.
Oddly enough, the comparisons of her to Kennedy began during her husband’s Inauguration Ceremony.
A Great Leader
Throughout the interview, Melania spoke very highly of her future husband.
One of the most telling parts of the interview was in how much respect she clearly had for him as a leader.
Do You Like Melania Trump as First Lady?

“He’s a very smart man,” she said. “He knows how to do a business. He would be a great leader.”
While it took almost two decades for her predictions to come true, eventually, as we all now know, Melania was right on all counts.

Thursday on ABC’s “The View,” after a heated discussion on the #MeToo movement the ladies moved on to First Lady Melania Trump wearing a pith helmet while in Africa.
Discussing Melania Trump’s “Good Morning America” interview in which the pith helmet was sitting on a table beside her, co-host Whoopi Goldberg said, “Can we talk about this gigantic white pith helmet up sitting in the shot, and it’s really not a good thing to see because it represents a lot of stuff for folks, especially folks in Africa.”
Meghan McCain said, “So I brought this up because there’s so many different elements to this. Number one, this is her first solo trip—she did a press spray, which is when you’re a politician standing in front of a group of reporters. She said, ‘Concentrate on what I say, not what I wear.’ But the problem is when you’re wearing things like this, which is very charged because it’s a symbol of British colonialism. My mother does a lot of philanthropy in Africa—she travels there all the time—never would be caught dead wearing this under these kind of circumstances and I think when I try and give Melania so much leg room and I really really really try with her, I just don’t understand her fashion choices. And our first lady’s fashion choices are political. It was political when Jackie O decided to wear a French designer instead of an American designer. The clothes that our first ladies wear are political choices. I just wish whoever is in change would maybe think a little more.”
Abby Huntsman said, “She needs a team around her to help her understand — ”
Sunny Hostin said, “She doesn’t have friends, that is what it is about. If she had someone like you on her team saying, ‘Girl, don’t wear that hat.’
McCain said, “I would have said don’t wear that hat.”
Guest co-host Yvette Nicole Brown said, “This is a group of people that do not like people that know more than them. They don’t. They revel in not knowing. They revel in not preparing.”
Huntsman said, “I actually think it’s different, it’s from the Trump playbook of we don’t care.”
Nicole Brown said, “I started with them not caring. I don’t care what she does. But I also think there’s no one on the team. They don’t bring people around who can say—hey this is not the right thing to do.”
Hostin said, “No friends, exactly.”
McCain said, “My problem here is that her platform right now is #BeBest which is fine. Again I really I really don’t like sitting around, being nasty toward our first lady because I think this is important. I think when you’re wearing jackets that say ‘I really don’t care’ and you are wearing pith helmets in Africa but it sends a distinct message that I don’t think should be the message that we as Americans should send.”
Goldberg added, “You know what the real true problem here—this is when you don’t do any homework… when you think about some of the things that have been said about Africa, you know I would think that, I kind of thought well, maybe she’s going to see for herself, but clearly she didn’t do the research just to make sure this was on the right footing because basically a pith helmet says we own you.”

Melania Trump’s spokeswoman dinged for Hatch Act violation

Melania Trump’s spokeswoman dinged for Hatch Act violation
https://www.patriotnewsalerts.com/melania-trumps-spokeswoman-dinged/?
Democrats are ecstatic their constant complaining is finally producing some rewards.
After Sen. Tom Carper (D-DE) whined that a tweet made by Stephanie Grisham violated the Hatch Act, the first lady’s spokeswoman has been issued a letter of reprimand from U.S. Office of Special Counsel.
The Hatch Act
The Hatch Act was put in place to prevent political corruption back in 1939.
Per this legislation, federal employees are prohibited from engaging in any behavior that could alter elections.
Examples include offering jobs for votes or, in this day and age, using official federal accounts to politic for someone.
Realistically, this act is probably violated on a daily basis by members of both parties, but it is rarely enforced.
That all changed when Donald Trump became president.
Grisham’s Tweet
Carper, yes the same Sen. Carper that admitted to beating slapping his wife around, apparently has nothing else to do but troll social media accounts.
One would have thought Grisham’s tweet was the end of the world based on his Twitter rant:
Senator Tom Carper
@SenatorCarper
NEWS: Two months after my inquiry, the @US_OSC has confirmed that yet another Trump White House staffer has violated the Hatch Act. This administration's blatant and repeated disregard for the law is astounding and unacceptable.
Senator Tom Carper
@SenatorCarper
We have laws in this country for a reason. The Hatch Act ensures government officials don’t use their positions to unfairly influence political activity, like elections. But the Trump Administration continues to completely disregard this law http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/397269-watchdog-first-lady-spokeswoman-may-have-violated-hatch-act-with-maga …>

NEWS: Two months after my inquiry, the @US_OSC has confirmed that yet another Trump White House staffer has violated the Hatch Act. This administration's blatant and repeated disregard for the law is astounding and unacceptable. https://twitter.com/SenatorCarper/status/1020069736682487808 …

At the very least, we should be able to trust that those who serve in the highest positions in our government will follow the law. Instead, this administration seems to promote a culture where showing that basic level of respect for the American taxpayer is optional pic.twitter.com/PW9UACuhcS

What really happened, though, was that Grisham announced an anniversary, and shared her thoughts about being part of the administration.
Her since-deleted tweet read: “Three years ago today I listened to my gut & joined the Trump team in #PHX … & life has never been the same. So proud to work for both @POTUS @realdonaldtrump & @FLOTUS us #MAGA”
Where is the problem?
Because Trump used #MAGA as a campaign slogan, the tweet was deemed to have violated the Hatch Act.
Thankfully, the Office of Special Counsel realizes how ridiculous this is and issued Grisham only a warning.
Do You Think Carper is Making Too Much of This?

She was, however, warned that any further violations would result in more severe discipline.
Perhaps now Carper can get to work doing something for Americans rather than trolling the accounts of White House officials.
