Over the weekend, social media exploded with news that professional football players across the country – and even in London – were choosing to remain seated or take a knee during the U.S. National Anthem in protest.

First Lady Melania Trump, however, took an entirely different tack. In Canada for the Invictus Games, cameras captured Melania Trump standing during the Star Spangled Banner – in a group of seated Brits including Prince Harry – to honor both the United States and its wounded veterans.

American Veterans in Canada
Created by Prince Harry, a combat veteran himself, the Invictus Games offer wounded and permanently-injured veterans from around the world the chance to compete against one another in sporting events. Melania Trump was in attendance at the Games in Toronto, Canada, as the leader of the American delegation.

At the opening ceremonies on Sunday, she offered both American veterans and the flag a standing ovation and respectful demeanor. This stunning photo, published by the Independent Journal Review, captures the First Lady’s patriotism perfectly.

She then met with the athletes personally, offering congratulations and support for their hard work to represent their nation in the games.

Trump also released a video message to the veterans, calling them “our heroes,” and thanking them for their sacrifice.

#BoycottNFL Grows
While the First Lady stood and supported veterans, back in the U.S., Sunday was a polarizing day for many. NFL players from nearly every team engaged in a variety of protests, from individual players taking a knee to simply refusing to come out of the locker room until after the anthem was played.

The Seattle Seahawks released a statement prior to the game stating their intent to remain in the locker room; meanwhile, all but one member of the Pittsburgh Steelers was missing from the anthem ceremony. Pittsburgh’s Alejando Villenueva, a West Point graduate and former Army Ranger, emerged from the locker room to stand alone and pay respect to the flag and the anthem.

Fans were outraged at the athletes’ choice to avoid standing in public, and the hashtag #BoycottNFL picked up speed. Some fans took to social media with homemade videos of them setting jerseys, hats, and even season tickets on fire.

While the controversy over the anthem likely won’t end anytime soon, it’s refreshing to see that the first lady is representing the nation on a global scale with class and grace.

The left has regularly asserted that any criticisms levied against women are sexist, but that hasn’t stopped them from regularly attacking conservative women in the most demeaning and sexist manner possible. One of their most frequent targets has been the First Lady.

Speaking at a United Nations luncheon on Wednesday, First Lady Melania Trump wore a bold hot-pink dress, which drew the attention of a swarm of leftist cyberbullies.

Ironically, the First Lady’s speech was about cyberbullying, a trend that she says is hurting American culture. Melania’s speech came after serial bully Hillary Clinton slammed her for not doing enough to take on the issue.

In what may have been her most important speech to date in the White House, Melania urged her audience to defend the most vulnerable – children and young adults – from bullying.

In her prepared remarks to a U.N. luncheon audience, the First Lady explained that no child in any country should ever experience the torment of feeling “hungry, stalked, frightened, terrorized, bullied, isolated or afraid, with nowhere to turn.”

Despite these inspiring words, Twitter bullies pounced, ignoring her statement and focusing on her dress. Melania wore a hot pink dress that was designed by Delpozo, a luxury fashion brand.

First Lady Melania Trump has become an especially good role model for children since her husband took office in January. Now, she’s once again proving her dedication to children and family.

The First Lady spoke to the spouses of the dignitaries in attendance at the 72nd United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday. During her talk, Mrs. Trump said that it is the responsibility of parents to raise their children with good values and a healthy love of country.

“Show me the loving bonds between your families today and I will show you the patriotism and moral clarity of your nation tomorrow,” she said.

Our choices on how we raise and educate our children in fact provide the blueprint for the next generation. If we do not advocate a love of country to our children and generations to come, then why would our children grow up to fight for their countries?
Patriotism Begins at Home
The World Bank reports that as many as 385 million children throughout the world now live in desperate poverty, and Trump said the solution to this starts at home.

She said:

Together, we must acknowledge that all too often it is the weakest, most innocent and vulnerable among us, our children, who ultimately suffer the most from the challenges that plague our societies.

Whether it is drug addiction, bullying, poverty, disease, trafficking, illiteracy, or hunger, it is the children who are hit first and hardest in any country.
This is true in especially in the United States, where at-risk children, including those whose families rely on government assistance, are the most likely to be involved in terrorizing situations like child sex trafficking.

“No child should ever feel hungry, stalked, frightened, terrorized, bullied, isolated or afraid, with nowhere to turn,” Trump said. “We need to step up, come together, and ensure that our children’s future is bright.”

Final Words
Mrs. Trump finished her talk by reminding those in attendance, including Brigitte Macron of France, Sophie Gregoire of Canada, and Emine Erdoğan of Turkey, that they have a responsibility to protect children — if not, the nations of the world will fall apart.

“As we all know, the future of every nation rests with the promise of their young people,” she said.

After painting such a dour picture for the U.N., Trump ended with a message of hope: “God Bless our children, God Bless our nations, and God Bless the United States of America.”

Mrs. Trump was most recently criticized for having the audacity to show respect for the White House and her position by wearing heels when boarding Air Force One on the way to visit Hurricane Harvey victims in Texas. Vogue contributing editor Lynn Yeager reported:

While the nation is riveted by images of thousands of Texans wading with their possessions, their pets, their kids, in chest-high water, desperately seeking refuge; while a government official recommend that those who insist on sheltering in place write their names and social security numbers on their arms, Melania Trump is heading to visit them in footwear that is a challenge to walk in on dry land.
Trump changed into more practical sneakers on the plane to Texas. She did the same when her and her husband visited the next week, showing critics that she’ll wear what makes her feel comfortable regardless of what they say.

Making America Beautiful Again
With Mrs. Trump firmly ensconced as America’s first lady, the White House has seen a return to elegance not present since Jacqueline Kennedy held that position.

"In just two short years, the Invictus Games have allowed thousands of injured and wounded servicemen and women from many different countries to participate in adaptive sports competitions -- something that should be lauded and supported worldwide. I am honored by the opportunity to represent our country at this year's games," Trump said in a statement about the trip.
Trump stepped off her Boeing C-32 in a black-and-white checkered Christian Dior suit, and proceeded through Toronto by motorcade to a local hotel, where she met with Prince Harry.
"Mrs. Trump, may I introduce His Royal Highness," an aide said as Harry entered the room.

They shook hands and visited for about 20 minutes, discussing the history of the Invictus Games. Joined by their respective chiefs of staff and communications directors, the two asked each other questions about their families, and there was some "friendly, competitive razzing" ahead of the games, according to the first lady's communications director, Stephanie Grisham.
Trump extended an invitation to Prince Harry to visit the White House any time he is in the United States, Grisham said.
Later in the day, Trump met with Team USA, posing for a team photo and gave brief, encouraging remarks ahead of the opening ceremonies.
"I also want to wish you good luck, but I know you won't need it in these games. Take that fighting spirit that I know you have, and bring home the gold," she said to applause.

Melania Trump topped the latest CNN poll for the most popular member of the Trump family in results out Thursday night.

The first lady came in with a 44 percent favorability versus 35 percent of those polled who had an unfavorable view of her. Ivanka Trump came in next with 41 percent of those polled who gave her a favorable view while the same percentage and an unfavorable view of the first daughter.

President Donald Trump saw his favorability hit 41 percent with those respondents viewing the president as favorable versus 57 percent who had an unfavorable opinion.

White House Senior advisor Jared Kushner came in fourth place with a 20 percent favorability and 39 percent unfavorable view of Trump’s son-in-law.

Looking deeper into the poll, men and women almost equally have a favorable view of the first lady with men coming in at 49 percent versus woman with 40 percent. However, in the unfavorable opinion only 28 percent of the men had a negative view of Melania compared to 42 percent of the women who responded.

These results show the president was right again. During a recent dinner for the White House Historical Association, Trump told the group that the most popular Trump was his wife, recalling their warm reception they got during trips to Texas, Louisiana and Florida after the devastating hurricanes.


“I’m going turn it over to the star of the Trump family,” the president shared. “They love her out there. We walked all over Florida, we walked all over Texas, and they’re loving Melania.”

The poll was conducted between Sept. 17-20 with a total of 1053 respondents. The margin of error for the poll is plus or minus 3.7 percentage points.

Melania Trump looked ready to get her hands dirty when she showed up Friday to a White House Kitchen Garden event in a red plaid shirt and jeans.

The first lady looked terrific, pairing plaid with dark blue jeans, sneakers, and sunglasses, while working children from the Girls and Boys Club of Greater Washington.

Trump donned red gloves and got to work alongside the kids harvesting vegetables.
“Healthy, nurturing, and positive environments are instrumental in enhancing the well-being and mindfulness of all children,” the first lady explained in a WH statement about the event.

“They learn so much through their surroundings and the White House Kitchen Garden is a prime example of how children can enjoy the outdoors and learn about healthy eating and living, while also gaining an understanding of the White House and its rich history,” she added. “I was so happy to be able to celebrate healthy living through fun activities with these special children today, and I look forward to future events in the garden.”

Pictures taken of the First Lady at an Andrews Air Base youth center show Melania Trump in her element. These photos demonstrate that the First Lady is a natural caretaker and a warm role model for children with an inherent gift for educating and entertaining American youth.

A picture worth 1,000 words
Trump wasted no time getting acquainted with the children at the Maryland Air Force Base. She headed straight to the youth center upon arrival at the air base, entering the room with her Secret Service escort and a huge smile that betrayed how happy she was to spend time with the children of American service members.

After introducing herself, the First Lady quickly got down to the business of getting to know the children. The kids were clearly enamored with their visitor as Trump demonstrated her skills at constructing paper airplanes.

A pink paper jet crafted by Trump soon took flight to the unsuppressed joy of a class full of youthful onlookers.

When she wasn’t showcasing her affinity for coloring or playing with legos, Trump also took time to engage the children one-on-one. When a young boy told Trump that he saw the president dancing on television, the First Lady was amused.

“Oh, he was dancing?” Trump asked. “Oh, I need to see that. Was he funny?”

“It’s On Demand,” the boy told her, referring to a video streaming service.

The First Lady promised to “check it out.” The humorous exchange was just one of the numerous conversations Trump held with her audience of young people at Andrews Air Base. Trump gave the impression that she wished she could stay at the youth center before she headed off to an Air Force hangar to introduce the president to a waiting crowd of military supporters.

First Mother
The brief visit from Trump was a testament to her compatibility with children and her inclination for parenting. The mother of one keeps children’s issues like cyberbullying close to her heart.

When Trump and son Barron delayed their move into the White House so that the president’s youngest son could finish up the school year in New York, the liberal media had a whole host of slanderous reasons to explain the decision. For instance, Vanity Fair, the publication that recently snubbed Trump by leaving her off of the 2017 list of “Best Dressed” while including outgoing First Lady Michelle Obama, reported that Trump was delaying her move into the White House because she was “press-shy.”

However, it is hard to take Vanity Fair seriously when it comes to Trump, with whom the fashion magazine has been insultingly critical. Writers for the liberal outlet even called Trump’s grin “a smile quite literally pulled tight across her face,” in a cheap attempt to allege that she has had one too many plastic surgeries.

Fortunately, American mothers understand the First Lady’s decision to put her child above politics. Trump explained her absence on the campaign trail in 2016 by saying, ““It was my decision not to be on the campaign trail … I will be a parent to our boy, to our child.”

Trump understands that interviews and press conferences are less important than the well-being of her child, a refreshing quality in a First Lady. It is no wonder, then, that she relished the opportunity to spend time with the children of America’s finest — even for a brief moment.

Despite the media attacks on all sides, the Trumps keep their heads high. But the president said there’s one member of the family who stands out among the crowd.

Speaking at the White House Historical Association dinner and reception Thursday, President Donald Trump called his wife, First Lady Melania Trump, “the star of the Trump family.”

He was referring to the reaction of crowds in the storm-ravaged areas of Texas and Florida when the first couple visited following the onslaught of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

Another Trump in the running?
While introducing his wife to speak at the dinner, the president said:

They love her out there, I’ll tell you. We walked all over Florida, we walked all over Texas and they’re loving Melania and she just enjoys helping them with what she’s doing and working with you folks.
And it’s not just Texans and Floridians who love her: it’s also Washington’s elite.

When the First Lady spoke to guests in the White House State Dining Room, one person was heard saying, “She should run next.”

A Class Act
The First Lady’s speech comes as somewhat of a tradition to the White House Historical Association, a non-profit education organization founded by Jacqueline Kennedy in 1961.

According to the Association’s website, its mission is “to enhance the understanding and appreciation of the Executive Mansion.” Reportedly, Kennedy’s goal was to “help the White House collect and exhibit the very best artifacts of American history and culture.”

“Today, our acquisition, preservation, research, and education efforts continue through generous private donations and the sale of our books, products, and the official White House Ornament,” the site mentions.

But as her husband said, Melania Trump is “the star” of the family both in and out of the White House. She maintained her classy reputation after Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, releasing a heartfelt statement:

We have certainly seen the unforgiving side of Mother Nature these past few weeks, and my thoughts and prayers continue to be with the families so deeply affected by both Harvey and Irma.

I will continue to receive updates from FEMA, and lend my voice, time, and resources to help those who need it most.
We have no doubt that she’ll be true to her word.

That’s what a billboard that sprung up in the Croatian capital of Zagreb says, right next to a photo of First Lady Melania Trump. This billboard and others like it are being used to promote the American Institute in Zagreb, a private school that promotes English language instruction.

Their message reveals what an international icon Trump has become.

Multi-Lingual First Lady
Despite the Democrats’ portrayal of her as a fashion-obsessed cheapskate, Trump is actually an extremely smart woman who is fluent in at least five languages. Besides her native Slovenian, the First Lady can speak English, French, Serbo-Croatian and German. Some outlets report that she can speak some Italian as well.

“She had to do a lot, including delivering speeches in English and addressing huge crowds in a foreign language,” school official Ivis Buric said, making her an ideal candidate to be displayed on the billboards.

She has also encouraged her son Barron to follow in her footsteps. He is fluent in Slovenian and French.

Great Ambassador
The fact that a school in Croatia is using Melania Trump to promote learning English means that she is an excellent ambassador for America in eastern Europe, especially the Balkans.

Additionally, her language skills make her ideal for traveling the world as a representative of the U.S. She spoke French on a July visit to a Paris hospital, asking children to share their names:

“Je m’appelle Melania. Et toi?” she said, to which one child responded in English.

“You speak very good English,” Trump then said. “Very good.”

Making a Difference
With the knowledgable Melania Trump as First Lady, the U.S. may also see increased south Slavic interest in the U.S. Her language skills make her an ideal mediator for the U.S., Russia and this volatile part of the world.

With her potential as an influential ambassador, we are certainly lucky to have this smart, inspirational woman sharing the White House with the president.
