2 Thessalonians 3

Finally, brothers,[a] pray for us, that the word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honoured,[b] as happened among you, 2 and that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men. For not all have faith. 3 But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.[c] 4 And we have confidence in the Lord about you, that you are doing and will do the things that we command. 5 May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ.


Sunday

Please pray that the Chinese church, would be filled with purity, power and boldness as it meets today. Please pray for the pastors as they preach, for boldness and empowerment. Please pray for the protection of all services.


Monday

Please pray as the church is 80-90% women. Men need to be challenged and activated into leadership. Please pray that each church would have a group of godly men, who fear nothing but God, and who are prepared to sacrifice themselves for the gospel.


Tuesday

Plese pray for the next generation, most of the church is made up of middle-aged people. Please pray that there would be an influx of young people and children into the church. The next generation is only interested in the latest fashion and cell phone. Please pray for the children of China, who are under severe pressure to achieve a good score at school.


Wednesday

Persecution is real, but we can and do share the gospel. Please pray that God would open up opportunities to share the gospel. People are in great need. Many people have mental problems, the society seems stable, but people are hurting very deeply. Please pray that the church, would be salt and light.

Please pray for him, I truly love Pastor Z, he is my dear friend. Please uphold him in prayer.

Many other men are dormant in relationships, the wives are the leaders, please pray as there are only two truly Christian marriages in the church. Please pray that the sisters might win their husbands without a word. Please pray for brother L and sister Z and myself and Helen. People look up to myself and Helen.

On August 16th, protests by thousands of angry Muslims in the Christian colony of Jaranwala resulted in damages to hundreds of homes and over 20 churches. For more details on this recent incident, view our report from August 24th and a very informative video alert.

While the intense violence has been quelled, tensions persist throughout the region, and the anti-Christian sentiment which fuelled the violence remains. Eleazar Sidhu serves as the pastor of the Myong-Sang Naserth Church in Jaranwala, which was one of the many churches attacked in the riots. On August 28th, Islamic slogans were painted on the wall of the church building, including a curse against Pastor Eleazar. This vandalism was reported to the police and the writing has since been painted over.

A few days later, a group of people intercepted Pastor Eleazar and threatened to kill him because he had removed the writing. On September 3rd, the church leader was returning to his home when two unidentified men approached him. Pulling out a pistol, one demanded that Pastor Eleazar recite the Kalima (the Islamic declaration of faith). When the pastor instead began reciting the Apostles' Creed, the man shot him in the upper chest and then fled.

Pastor Eleazar was taken to the hospital, where doctors were able to remove the bullet. While he lost a lot of blood, the pastor is now considered to be out of danger and, thankfully, recovering well after surgery. The incident has led to renewed concerns regarding the safety of Christians in the area. Police guards have been deployed at churches, but there is scepticism about whether this will be an effective means of protecting worshippers at risk.

Pray for the complete healing of Pastor Eleazar, asking that this Christian leader and his family members will tangibly sense God's comforting presence throughout his recovery. Praise the Lord that there have been no reported casualties due to the ongoing religious tensions in Jaranwala. Please pray for the Lord's protection over His people in this troubled city, as well as those residing in other areas within the nation of Pakistan. Also ask for His intervention in the affairs of the country so that the blasphemy laws, which are so commonly abused, will be revoked.

Multitudes of Nigerian Christians have
died for their faith since 2009.

Violence perpetrated by various terrorist groups has been continuing unabated in Nigeria, particularly against Christians. Even with increased security measures in place, Islamic militants continue to conduct deadly raids on Christian communities. A report released in April indicated that over 50,000 followers of Jesus have died and over 18,000 churches were set ablaze since the Boko Haram insurgency began in 2009. Those numbers continue to rise, particularly with the increasing attacks by Islamic Fulani groups. For more details on the violence against Christians in Nigeria, go to our country report.

On August 23rd, Pastor Jeremiah Mayau from the Tawaliu Baptist Church was shot and killed by unknown assailants while he was working in his agricultural field. At the time of publishing this report, details surrounding the attackers' identities and motives remain unknown. Rev. Joseph John Hayab, who serves as the chair for the Kaduna chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, refers to the attack as "barbaric." In his statement addressing the incident, Rev. Joseph called on security agencies to exercise greater vigilance to halt this type of activity in the state.

May God provide greatly needed comfort to the loved ones, friends and church family of Pastor Jeremiah during this time of mourning. Pray that the members of the Tawaliu Baptist Church will remain steadfast in their faith, receiving strength, vigour and encouragement from the Lord as they faithfully reach out to the members of their community with the message of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Additionally, pray that Nigerian authorities would not only bring those responsible for this attack to justice, but that there would also be increased vigilance among the country's security forces in providing protection to our vulnerable Christian brothers and sisters.

CHINA: New Laws Tighten Grip on Churches

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has released new religious restrictions which took effect on September 1st, bringing added concerns in a country already experiencing increased repressive measures. The new rules require religious venues to submit to the leadership of the CCP and its plans for the "sinicization" of religion.

According to the State Administration for Religious Affairs, all religious activities will be limited to official venues only and religious symbols must not be displayed outdoors. In recent years, more than 1,500 crosses have been torn down from officially recognized churches in the Zhejiang province alone. It is expected that such enforcements will increase under these new rules.

The new regulations also put further stipulations on the preaching taking place in government-approved churches. For example, pastors' sermons must now reflect China's politics and the values of President Xi Jinping, demonstrating their full support for the Communist Party of China and its socialist system. Any clergy members refusing to comply face disqualification from preaching.

While such regulations are specifically aimed at the official Three-Self churches, the policies will undoubtedly be used against underground churches that have refused to be placed under government control. Prayerfully uphold those who are seeking to share the message of the Gospel in this increasingly repressive nation, asking the Lord to grant them wisdom and discretion. Please also remember our Chinese brothers and sisters in Christ who currently remain imprisoned for their faith, praying that they will be granted divinely appointed opportunities to minister to others around them. Finally, pray that God will work mightily in the hearts of China's leaders, including President Xi Jinping, leading each one to repentance and a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Pray for SB's husband who is happy to come to church events, but does not believe there is a God.

I have had the privilege of sharing the gospel in all three situations (AS HAVE OTHERS), but only God can open their eyes.

Please pray for my dear wife, who is experiencing deep attacks on her health.

Continue to pray for more students to come to class especially online.

Praise God for the growth of the church, but where there is growth, there are attacks and opposition.

Continue to pray for our two pastors, that they would be faithful to the word of God.

Please pray for China, every day twenty-five thousand people die in China, may every person in this country have the opportunity to hear and respond to the gospel.

How should we pray?

Here is a good way?

All through the psalm, we have seen that God knows all about us, but still the psalmist prays like this:

Search me.. look into every are of my life, all areas of my life are open to you

Try me.. put all my motives to the test, and the tests are your holiness and your word. We are to take into captivity every thought that is against the Lord.

See if any grievous way in in me..look at the whole direction of my life

Lead me.. a humble cry of the believer, he wants to be lead in the right way

The true believer is completely open and honest with God, he leaves no area of his life closed, because he/she knows that nothing is hid from the Lord.

Lord look into every area of my life, you know my sitting down, you know my rising up. I thank you know all about me as you created me, you made me wonderfully in my mother's womb.

Again the last word is from Matthew Henry：

(1.) The way of godliness is an everlasting way; it is everlastingly true and good, pleasing to God and profitable to us, and will end in everlasting life. It is the way of antiquity (so some), the good old way. (2.) All the saints desire to be kept and led in this way, that they may not miss it, turn out of it, nor tire in it.

All through the psalm, we have seen that God knows all about us, but still the psalmist prays like this:

Search me.. look into every are of my life, all areas of my life are open to you

O men of blood, depart from me!
20 They speak against you with malicious intent;
your enemies take your name in vain.[b]
21 Do I not hate those who hate you, O Lord?
And do I not loathe those who rise up against you?
22 I hate them with complete hatred;
I count them my enemies.

TRUE HATRED

Not all people will have the same attitude to God as we do. Indeed, there are many people who hate God, yes hate God.

Surely people don't hate God, people are just not interested. When we share the gospel, the reaction from people is just to refuse, surely, they are just busy. No, they are against God, they hate him.

Before we were saved, we were haters of God, we shook our fists at God in rebellion.

People fight against God, they speak against God with malicious intent, they curse God, they revile God.

Remember this, that anyone who is outside of Christ is God's enemy, but this is the wonder of salvation, when salvation happens, we who were once enemies became his friends, and yes his sons and daughters.


These people are atheists, they don't believe what the psalmist believes, they don't believe that God has created them. They believe that we came from some process, they rage at God, people like Richard Dawkins rage at God, they say that God hates people, when they hate God.

These people are to be pitied, hell awaits these people.

What do we do with these people, we pray for them, we continue to share the gospel with them, even if they reject us.



Matthew Henry says this

TRUE HATRED

Continue to pray for many who need the saviour in China, the harvest field is so vast, every morning I walk down to the market and I see literally hundreds of people. Please get involved with us and pray for our area of Yao Hua Men and our housing Complex of Shangchengfengjing South area, in this complex there are seven hundred flats in 18 blocks and although this is one of the largest, there are over 60 other housing complexes in Yao Hua Men, it is like a small city within a city.

Psalm 23:1 The Lord is my shepherd.





MY SHEPHERD





This is probably the best-known psalm of all the wonderful 150, people can often quote this verse by verse.





We are going to see how the first words, play out in practice.





The author, well who better than a shepherd, David knew about being a shepherd and the Holy Spirit used his experience to write these inspired and blessed verses.





He starts out with this statement, the Lord is my shepherd, he was an expert in shepherding sheep, but here he was acknowledging that is the Lord who was His shepherd.





Everything flows from our relationship with the shepherd, he provides for us, he protects us and gives us all blessings.





But it starts, with this question; Is he your shepherd?





The whole thrust of this psalm, is the relationship between the shepherd and his sheep, it is an intimate and personal one. Have you an intimate and personal relationship with the Lord and are able to call him.. my shepherd.

1.The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want





NEEDING NOTHING BUT THE LORD





In the first devotion of this series, we saw how personal, the Lord was. He was my shepherd.





Being a shepherd was a lonely business sometimes, David had to look after the sheep on his own, there must have been times that he ran out of food for himself, but he like us, knows that the Lord and him alone is his provider.





When we know the Lord is our shepherd, we will never be in want, because our Father knows what we need, even before we ask Him.. amen.





When we ask him, he will give us the right thing at just the right time. I have seen God provide, so many times during my time in China. He brings students to the class, the right students, the right number at the right time.





We can trust God, because he is our shepherd, the sheep have complete trust of their shepherd, if we do the same, we will be able to say:





I shall not want or I shall never lack any good thing.





Amen.





God alone is our Jehovah Jireh.. our provider, not the church or your friends, although he uses these two avenues.





God provides everything for his sheep. Praise his holy name.

THE CHRISTIAN'S CLARION CALL





Salvation from sin and having a relationship with God is truly the most amazing thing that can happen to anyone. I know that becoming a child of God on 15th, February, 1975 was the defining moment of my life, and I know that becoming a Christian is also the defining moment of many who are reading this devotion.





One of the reasons we are to tell (testify) what God has done for us among his people, is that it encourages them to press on. There is something about hearing how another person came to faith or how another believer is growing in grace. It is amazing to our souls to hear these (Testimonies)things.





We should always seek to encourage our fellow believers, by telling them, what blessings God has given us. We must share how God has opened up his word to us and spoken to us directly.





When was the last time you encouraged people in your church or an individual brother or sister in faith, by telling them, what God has done for your soul?





God has done so much for you.. share what He Has done for you.





Whilst you are about it.. tell the world, what He has done for your soul. Let the world know that Jesus has changed you life.

PSALM 22




24 for he has not despised my cries of deep despair; he has not turned and walked away. When I cried to him, he heard and came.”





HE HEARS BECAUSE HE KNOWS OUR PAIN





This psalm is called the suffering servant psalm. It is probably the greatest prophecy about the death of our beloved Saviour.





Please read it and find all the prophecies about our Saviour.





What a verse we have in verse 24.



Jesus is our high priest.. he is the one who completely understands whatever trial, we are going through. In the book of Hebrews chapter 2 and 4 we have these words:





14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;



15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.



16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.



17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.



18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.



14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.



15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.



16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.





What Jesus experienced throughout his life, He faced and overcame every single temptation that we will ever face, and through his death and resurrection, he defeated sin and death and its power forever.




Let us go back to our text in Psalm 22, when we cry out to Him, he hears. Believer cry out to God; he will hear you. Your high priest will not walk away, he will come to you.





He will do this, because he has been through everything you are going through.



What a wonderful assurance this is and should be to us.



Cry out believer.. Jesus hears and understands and he will come to you

PROVERBS 30

THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE HOLY



The words of Agur resonate in this day and age.



So many people including us, can say these words. We have much knowledge nowadays, we claim to understand complex things, but do we understand the main thing, and that is the knowledge of God.



Hosea says that God's people are destroyed for lack of knowledge, they claimed to be wise in their own eyes, but like Agur they had become brutish.



For us in this so called enlightened age, we seem to have all the knowledge, all the understanding, and all the insight, when really we know nothing.



True knowledge and true understanding is when we come to know God personally and get to know him more as we walk with Him day by day.



Only when we know God in an intimate way, we will not be brutish, we will understand the true meaning of life, and the knowledge of the Holy one of Israel will transform our lives.



Believer before all things, get to know God.. Spend time with HIM

Paul said that he buffeted his body, that meant he was disciplined in everything he did.

At the end of 1 Corinthians 9, he uses the picture of an runner going for a prize

Can you imagine a fat man running the 100 metres at the Olympics?

We are allowed to eat as much honey as we want, but we need to ask ourselves, if it will edify us?

Paul said all things were lawful to him, but all things were not beneficial to him

What is your honey and are you tasting too much of it

It may be chocolate, crisps or maple syrup (one of my favourites!!!), whatever it is eat so much as is sufficient for thee


Remember your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit

10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.



THE EVIDENCE OF GOD'S LOVE


John is the apostle of love; he is the one who was closest to Jesus. He was the one who leaned on Jesus at the last supper. He was one of the three on the Mt of Transfiguration and he was the only one standing at the cross, so he above anyone else can give us the unique perspective on God's love.


The love that God gave and has given us is completely unearned and undeserved. In fact, we deserve Hell, judgement and punishment. I know that I do. 



Now God could have kept that love to Himself. He could have said, “Well, I really do love humanity and indeed I feel sorry for them, but they got themselves into this mess. Let them get themselves out of it”. 

 


Now there is a long word at the end of the verse, what does this word mean? In the Greek it means Hilasmos. It means a sacrifice that turns away God's wrath and turns it into favour. 



The problem man had was impossible for him to conquer on his own. Someone had to come down and deal with Sin. What Jesus did was to take God's full righteous anger and justice to declare us righteous and justified. I, for one, can't get my head fully round what God did in reconciling us to himself. 



God's love was in evidence in Him dealing with sin. Jesus came to be the propitiation for our sins; He came and died to turn our judgement into righteousness our condemnation into justification and our bondage into freedom. 



We now have God's favor because of the sacrifice of Jesus. Let us never lose sight of the glory of the cross. 



Archibald Brown penned these amazing words. 

 


Before God could forgive a sinner in accordance with His infinite holiness and perfect justice — think what had to be done, sacrificed, and suffered! Measure God's pardon, by the obstacles His pardoning love overcame— and then you can form some idea of its intensity. 

 

God has fathomed His love and pity in one text, "God SO loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son." That little word "so" contains more than Heaven or Earth can describe. In it, is the heart of God; in it, is the depth of pardoning love. Oh think for a minute what that pardon cost, which now makes your soul sing for joy. You received it freely enough, because Another paid the price; but what was that price? 

 




God's love is most in evidence at the cross, but let us realize what it cost His Son to put us right with God. 



The cross.. the cross.. is such a place
A place of beauty
A place of pain
A place where sin was destroyed
Where The saviour bled and died
For me.. for me

SHOWING TRUE LOVE




The previous verse has shown us that God has showed his love to us, by sending Jesus to die on the Cross for us.



Yeah, so what!


Because we have been loved by God so much, we have to love others, especially the Brethren.


No one has seen God in all his fullness.. although Jesus has shown us the Father.



So how can God be seen?


One of the ways is that his people love each other deeply and with fervency.


One of the main ways the world sees God is through the love we have for our brothers and sisters.


One of the ways we have the assurance of Salvation that God is dwelling within us.
We know that we are growing in faith... why? Because our love for the brethren is growing and growing.


The Christian and the Church are unique.. individually and corporately, it is filled with love.

[size=24]“If you turn back your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on my holy day, and call the Sabbath a delight and the holy day of the Lord honourable; if you honour it, not going your own ways, or seeking your own pleasure, or talking idly; then you shall take delight in the Lord, and I will make you ride on the heights of the earth; I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken…Isaiah 58:13-14.”



Is Sunday special to you?   We say we will go to church, Sunday school (if you are in America), or if we are really spiritual, we may even go to the Sunday evening service.   What about the rest of the day? Is that yours to enjoy? Once we have attended church, do we say, "We have done our duty?"



It is not enough to go to church: we are called to delight in the day that is set aside to worship our God. After church, it is so difficult not to watch TV and do our own thing. I am not saying that you should sit in the pews from sunrise to sunset, but you should have an attitude of worship that extends beyond the typical church service.   One of the best things to do is not to talk idly, especially after church.  To talk idly is to engage in gossip and conversations that lead to discord among fellow believers.  



A final question: How will you glorify God on the day set aside to worship Him?  Will you limit your worship to the time you spend in church, or will you give God praise in your home, and throughout your day?

RESTORATION!

Hosea is one of the most fascinating books in the bible. It starts out by God telling the prophet to marry a prostitute…but hang on…God doesn't like this behaviour. Prostitution I mean.

[size=16][size=16][size=19][size=24]He had Hosea do it to show how far the nation had fallen, that indeed the people, to put it in the bible's words: ‘They had played the harlot.’
[/size][/size][/size][/size]


[size=16][size=16][size=19][size=24]The wife of the prophet was unfaithful to him, but Hosea restored her. This is the lesson of the book of Hosea: despite our wandering and backsliding, God is willing and able to restore us.
[/size][/size][/size][/size]
[size=16][size=16][size=19]
[size=24]You know I could make lots of comments about being restored, but are they needed? The words speak for themselves. Someone is reading this who needs to be restored.

Maybe they are saying to themselves ‘It’s too late. God does not want anything to do with me.’ But here it is in black and white.


I know from personal experience, that I wandered away, and thought that although the Lord would restore me, he wouldn't trust me again, that he would hold a grudge against me, but the reality is completely different, he restores and gives you mercy and grace, something you didn't deserve.

Verse 4.. I will… not I might but I will. Don’t go another day without God. He is ready, willing and able to restore you.

Come back O wandering one

The Savior is calling you.

Come home to your true love

Receive my love and forgiveness.

Let us be one again.

Let me love you freely

And let your tears of repentance flow.

HOSEA 10


12 Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.
13 Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies: because thou didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men.


TRUE SOWING AND REAPING


This is a powerful analogy, all through scripture, there is this focus on sowing and reaping.


Today, such as the preachers of the prosperity gospel refer to monetary matters, but in reality, it relates to our spiritual lives.


Hosea is coming to the end of his prophecy, he has bought back his errant wife, this truly is a wonderful picture of Jesus.


Micah in his prophecy says these words：


6 “With what shall I come before the Lord,
and bow myself before God on high?
Shall I come before him with burnt offerings,
with calves a year old?
7 Will the Lord be pleased with[a] thousands of rams,
with ten thousand of rivers of oil?
Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression,
the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?”
8 He has told you, O man, what is good;
and what does the Lord require of you
but to do justice, and to love kindness,
and to walk humbly with your God?


These two verses in Hosea are almost reflections of what was said in Micah.


What have you been sowing in your life?


You sow sin in your life, you sow wickedness in your life, your life will be one of iniquity, poisoned by sin.


The call here is to sow righteousness, there are two promises here, if we sow righteousness, we will reap mercy, our lives will be transformed by God's mercy. If we truly seek God, if we break up the fallow ground, we will reap mercy. But this takes effort, it does not come easily. We have to seek God, it says that I will be found of you, if you seek me with your whole heart, look at the words.. seek and whole heart.


The second is that he will reign righteousness upon us, if we seek righteousness and seek God with our whole heart, he will rain righteousness upon us. People can come to God and he will give them, the righteousness of his own beloved son, we will stand righteous before him, not because of anything we have done, but because of everything Christ has done.


The call of the scriptures is to look to Christ and be saved. The call is to turn from your sin and to seek the Lord.


Have you done that?


For the believer reading this, are you sowing into your life wickedness and compromise?. If you are doing this, then you need to repent and seek the Lord.

What does this mean? 

Today, we will see what this means for us in real life, how does it apply for us today?

Let's take every letter of this wonderful word and explore the true meaning of Christmas



E- Poor Entrance Luke 2:6-7

First impressions count.. or do they?

When royalty is born, they are usually born with lots of excitement, they are born in privilege and position. But Jesus was born in a stable and not a palace, he was born to poor parents, he was born in a backwater so to speak. He was not welcomed into the world by many the first time he came. One day, all will see him and be forced to admit that he is Lord of Lords and king of Kings.

M- Magnificent announcement Luke 2:13-14

It's interesting that thousands and thousands of angels announced the birth of Jesus, they must have made such a racket, but no one but the shepherds heard them. The star was up in the sky, but no one saw it but the wise men. Today, we as Christians, make the same magnificent announcement, but very few hear us, we tell of Jesus, but all people want to know of is: Santa, Presents and all the other things that really do not matter. The announcement is being made, but are you hearing it?

M - Lowly manger

The stable was the lowest place in the house, it was the place for animals, it must have been smelly and dirty and yet, Jesus was born in a place like that. He left the majesty on high, to come to a place like the stable . It had been prophesised that he would be born this way Micah 5:2.

The lowering of Jesus was incredible, he came to us, he was a king, but he gave up all that to come to us, he was born like us, he knew hardship right from the moment of his birth. We couldn't go to God, we have no inclination to go to God, so he came down to us.

A-Acknowledge Him

Both the shepherds and the wise men came and worshipped him, Herod was frightened of him and the religious leaders, who knew all about him, were unconcerned, just like the Romans. All these attitudes still exist today, you either reverence and worship him, you are scared because of how he will expose your sin, or you are completely unconcerned and he means nothing to you. Times do not change do they, people's attitudes to Jesus do not change. 

The most important question is 

WHAT WILL YOU DO WITH JESUS?


N- Wonderful name/names Isaiah 9:6

We all have names, some more than others. But no one has ever been called what Jesus was called, and that was 700 years before his birth. 

He is the wonderful counsellor, one whose wisdom is beyond anything that has been seen before, even from Solomon.

Whatever your needs are, He is there to help you with His counsel, His truth and by His Spirit.  What do you need counsel for today?

He is the Mighty God, a name that shows his deity. He is fully God, one with the Father.

He has power and authority over all things, all people and all spiritual powers.  You have nothing to fear if He is your Lord and Savior.  What fears do you need His help to overcome?

He is the everlasting father; he is the King. He is a king that cares for his people. He has always existed.

The Hebrews means "Father of Eternity," and He has not only always existed, He has authority over time, events in history and your life too.  Because He is one with the Father, though He is the Son, He has the same authority as the Father.  In what areas do you need to remember that He is the authority, and you are not?

He is the prince of peace, he is the one, who brings peace. He is the one who brings peace between God and man.

He not only gives peace between Himself and you, but also between you and others, as well as inner peace, because of His grace, forgiveness and gives honour by adopting you into His family for eternity.  If you do not know Him as your Lord and Savior, you cannot have peace with Him.  If you do not have peace with Him, you cannot have peace.  Do you have His peace today?  If not, the only way is to turn away from your sin and shame and put your faith or full trust in Him alone for salvation.

U- Undoing the fall in the garden Genesis 3:15

Satan had lied to the woman in the garden and because of the fall, man was now alienated from God. But God knew that this would happen, and now was the time, that the fall was going to be put right. The promise of Genesis 3:15, was now going to be fulfilled.

Sin which had held sway, was now going to be dealt with, the destination of Jesus was the cross, the stable led to the cross, in just over 33 years, Jesus went to the cross to deal the final death nail to sin, satan and also death.

E- Encountering grace Ephesians 2:1-10

Jesus came down to earth and lived a perfect life, because we couldn't and can't. He paid the sacrifice, because we couldn't. He was the substitute for us. We couldn't save ourselves, we were and are helpless and hopeless, we are unable to help others, so one had to come.

He came so that he could open the way, so that sin could be dealt with, and that the penalty of sin, was laid on him. God was able to show his grace to us, because his beloved son, paid the price for sin, he took the wrath of the Father, his holy righteous anger, that was poured out upon his son, so that he could show sinful men and women his grace.

This Christmas, it is time to stop trying to save yourselves.

He came to save his people from their sins, because they are unable to save themselves.

L-Life

We come to the last letter and we come to this fact. This Christmas, you will receive many presents, but have you received Christ?

Rejecting Jesus, is like opening the present, and then playing with the wrapping paper, instead of opening the present. So many people, play with the wrapping people and don't open the present.

People love all the tinsel, turkey and presents, but they ignore the real reason for Christmas.

The real reason is this, it is something beyond our comprehension, that the king of glory, left his heavenly throne and came and lived among us.

Jesus humbled himself, he walked and talked upon this earth for 33 years, he lived a perfect life, died a sacrificial death, rose triumphantly from the grave and is now ascended back to heaven.

One day, he will come back, not as a poor baby in a manger, but as a fearsome judge. He will judge everyone. One day, you will face him, you will have to give a reason, why you have decided to reject him.

He offers you life, that offer stands now, but it will run out soon. 

Today is the day of salvation.

Emmanuel, God is with us

May you come to know Jesus this Christmas.

Please pray for my wife Helen, she is suffering serious chest pains, she has been to see a specialist, he says she might need surgery, but she has been told, this can wait and is non urgent. Please pray God heals her and shows his glory.


Please pray for our future, we really don't know where we will go, if anywhere. Please pray for Gods guidance.


Please pray for our daughter Sherry, for her to find a godly life partner.


For my teaching, please pray for two more online students and two more kindergarten students.


Please pray for my family, especially my nephew Paul trapped in homosexuality and atheism, my nephew James trapped in Atheism. Paul's partner and James's fiancée are both strong Catholics.


Please pray for protection upon us and the church. We meet on zoom and in houses.


Please pray that I would expand my devotional writing to more Chinese. If you know any Chinese friends, who would like to receive my devotions, ask me to email me at this address. I am also seeking three translators to translate my devotions from English into Chinese.

My wife is still having pains in her chest, she saw a Doctor on Monday and he said it may well need surgery, but this is not urgent. Please pray that God would glory himself by healing Helen.

UPDATE

She is very fatigued and feels very tired all the time.

Please pray for my American brother Larry and his Chinese wife Yuqin, he suffers from deep depression, and this puts a strain on their marriage. Please pray that he would have complete healing. Please pray for Yuqin's son studying in Germany currently unsaved.

Please pray that I would have two-three more online students.

Please pray for our daughter as she continues to teach at school.

Praise God the insurance company gave us rmb 1,500 for repairs for our new flat.

Continue to lift up our little church.

Praise God that lockdown is over and we are back to normal.

THE KEY TO LEARNING

TEXT: DEUTERONOMY 6:4-15:scroll:

KEY VERSE: "And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up" (DEUTERONOMY 6:7).

A father and son went fishing one day. After a couple of hours out in the boat, the boy suddenly became curious about the world around him. He asked his father, "How does this boat float?" His father replied, "Don't rightly know, son." The boy returning to his contemplation, then turned back to his father, "How do fish breathe underwater?" Once again, his father replied, "Don't rightly know, son." A little later, the boy asked his father, "Why is the sky blue?" He got the same answer. Worried he was going to annoy his father, he said, "Dad, do you mind my asking you all these questions?" "Of course not son, if you don't ask questions you'll never learn anything!"

The Lord, through Moses their leader, warned Israel against the tendency to forget their God when they got to the Promised Land. They were cautioned against complacency and carelessness that could set in when life improved in comfortable houses, fields and vineyards as promised by God. They were not only to retain the knowledge and the love of God in their hearts, but they were also to make signage of them throughout the environment where they lived. They were to teach their children diligently about them. They were to keep the lessons Moses taught them all through their lives and refuse to allow the culture and religion of their heathen neighbours influence them.

Our forefathers managed to keep the traditions of elders alive by telling stories to their children and grandchildren of the good old days. We must imbibe that practice in Christianity today. We must set aside time to teach our children and answer their questions both at home, in school and church. It is good to pass on every knowledge that is needed to the children when they are young and tender. The Bible makes it clear that they will not depart from it as they grow older (Proverbs 22:6).

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: God is honoured when His word is preserved from generation to generation.
