SOUTH KOREA: Accused as Criminals for Bible Distribution
Source: The Voice of the Martyrs Korea

Rev. Dr. Eric Foley and his wife Dr. Foley.
When missionaries first arrived in Korea in the late 19th century, they discovered that the Gospel message had already preceded them. Koreans who had been assisting with Bible translation in China consequently came to faith in Christ. By smuggling portions of the New Testament into their homeland, they were also able to lead others to Christ. The resulting believers came to be known as "Bible Christians."
The Bible remains essential to the church in North Korea today, and The Voice of the Martyrs Korea (VOMK) is determined to continue getting God's Word into this closed nation through the use of various innovative methods. However, these efforts have recently become a point of contention with leaders of the South Korean government who are seeking to appease demands from the dictatorial government of Kim Jong Un in North Korea. See this recent report on the challenges encountered when making these efforts.
The co-founders of VOMK are presently facing possible criminal charges, as well as a review of the ministry's status as a registered NGO. In a recently sent email, Rev. Dr. Eric Foley and his wife Dr. Foley wrote, "We stand accused in our own country as criminals, and we do so alongside our North Korean Christian brothers and sisters." The couple released a fascinating account about the "Bible Christians" of those earlier days and how they connect to the current situation in both North and South Korea (see VOMCanada.com/bible-christians).
Please keep the Foleys in your prayers, and the rest of the VOMK staff, as they navigate how to wisely deal with these present challenges while endeavouring to honour God through the distribution of His Word and the provision of humanitarian aid. Pray that the people of North Korea who have received the distributed Bibles will be touched by what they read, resulting in their eternal salvation. Intercede for the governmental leaders of both North and South Korea that they would not only cease from opposing the Gospel but also willingly embrace our Heavenly Father's 'Love Letter to Humanity' to the point of becoming convicted of their need to accept His Son Jesus as their own personal Saviour.

INDIA: Pastor Killed by Rebels

On July 10th, Pastor Munshi Devu Tado was leading a worship service for a small group on his property when armed Maoist rebels approached. According to his wife, they shook hands with the pastor and then tied his hands behind his back and led him away. The rebels then told family members that they wanted to talk to him. A few minutes later, a gunshot was heard. Pastor Munshi was found dead on the ground and, by this point, the attackers were gone.
Pastor Munshi leaves behind a wife and four young children. According to reports, opposing villagers had been upset about the growth of the church, as people were being converted from their tribal religion to Christianity. It is believed that the disgruntled villagers incited the Maoists to kill the pastor, contrary to a note left at the scene by the killers claiming that he had been a police informant.
Police investigating the crime insist that Pastor Munshi was not an informant. The family has faced ongoing persecution since they came to faith in Christ seven years ago. Pastor Vachami, who was a close associate of the slain minister, spoke favourably about him, "He was a very simple man and a very faithful servant of God." For more on the persecution facing Christians in India, go to our country report.
Remember Pastor Munshi's wife Jaini, as well as their young children, in your prayers during this time of tragic loss. In addition, pray for the villagers who have come to trust in Christ through their pastor's faithful service to God, asking the Lord to spur them onward in their walk of faith. May others of this community who have yet to acknowledge Christ as their Saviour -- including the attackers -- be touched by the late pastor's testimony and, through his ongoing legacy, receive God's mercy, forgiveness and transformative saving grace.

IRAN: Appeal Decisions for Ismaeil Maghrebinejad

In January 2019, Ismaeil Maghrebinejad, 65, was arrested and has since faced multiple charges and convictions, which he has appealed. Originally convicted of "membership of a group hostile to the regime" and "insulting Islamic sacred beliefs," he was further convicted of "propaganda against the state" in May 2020 (read more).
On July 5th, an appeal court overturned the three-year sentence for "insulting Islamic sacred beliefs." The charge came about due to someone else's social media joke, to which Ismaeil merely responded with a smiley face emoji. The judge ruled that since the accused was not the originator of the joke, he should not be convicted.
The appeal of the other two convictions were decided on July 15th. In this most recent case, the judge rejected both appeals. As a result, Ismaeil must serve two years in prison for "membership of a hostile group." The sentence for propaganda against the state was reduced; however, since that was a shorter concurrent sentence, it doesn't make any difference to the length of his prison term. For more on the persecution of Christians in Iran, go to our country report.
Continue to uphold Ismaeil in your prayers, along with the members of his concerned family, as they now face a two-year period of separation from one another. May the Lord sustain them with renewed hope, peace and strength --having the assurance that He is ultimately working through this difficult situation to bring about His greater plans in each of their lives and for the salvation of others. As Ismaeil waits on God for deliverance, may he experience continued health and strength -- physically, emotionally, mentally, as well as spiritually -- seizing every opportunity made available to him to be a vibrant Christian witness to fellow prisoners and prison workers.

IRAN: Twelve Arrested in Coordinated Raids
Sources: Article 18, Middle East Concern, Iran Human Rights Monitor

Tehran, Iran
At least twelve Christians have been arrested by intelligence agents in a coordinated operation on June 30th and July 1st. Besides the arrests, dozens of others were ordered to provide contact details and told they would be summoned for further questioning.
The first raid happened at a home located in the city of Tehran where about 30 Christians were gathered. While recording the raid, the agents were polite and separated the men from the women. But later, when the cameras were off, they treated the Christians harshly. The agents came prepared with arrest warrants for six of those in attendance who were then handcuffed, blindfolded, and taken away.
Those arrested were taken to their residences in Tehran and Karaj where they were searched for Bibles and other Christian materials. However, as three of the people listed on the warrant were not present at the meeting, these individuals were arrested later when agents went to their homes. That same night, three converts in Malayar were ordered to report to the Revolutionary Guard office the next day. Yet, before they had a chance to turn themselves in the following morning, they were arrested.
The three from Malayar have all been released after posting bail. The fates of the other nine Iranians are unknown, though at least two were attempting to raise bail at last report. It is believed that the raids were coordinated with the help of an informant who had infiltrated the church, gaining their trust. For more on the persecution of Christians in Iran, go to our online country report.
Prayerfully remember all the believers who were recently arrested, as well as those interrogated for practising Christianity.. Also uphold their concerned families and fellow church members. Continue to pray for the many others who are being imprisoned in Iran due to their faith in Jesus Christ. May they be refreshed, sustained, comforted and encouraged as they trust in God for their vindication and deliverance. In addition, intercede for the person who had infiltrated the church with wrong intent, asking the Lord to use the messages of God's Word that were heard during the services to bring about sincere repentance and salvation.

INDIA: Christian Man Slain for His Faith

Kande Mudu, also known as Philip, was a 27-year-old man who converted to Christianity four years ago. His family were the only Christians in the village of Bari in Jharkhand; and ever since their conversion, they have faced opposition and threats from other villagers. In 2018, the family's home was attacked and Kande's mother-in-law was gang raped. Five of the six attackers were convicted but the sixth perpetrator continued threatening to harm Kande if he refused to abandon his faith.
On June 7th, a group of men came to the door and demanded that Kande step outside. Suspecting what might happen, he encouraged his wife Bindu to remain strong and never give up her faith in Jesus. She took their children and sought safety at nearby houses, but no one would help the fleeing family. Bindu finally found refuge at the home of another Christian who lived several kilometres away.
Kande's body was found on the side of the road later that night by his younger brother. The attack was so brutal, the victimized believer was barely recognizable. The next day, charges were laid against eight men. During the funeral, Bindu was approached by her father who tried persuading her to forsake Christianity if she wanted to stay alive, recounting the rape of her mother and the recent murder of her husband.
Bindu responded, "I will live for Jesus and die for Jesus, but I will never turn back." To read more about the challenges facing Christians in India, review here.
Lift up Bindu and her family in your prayers, as they face this devastating time. Pray for their protection, comfort, guidance, provision and peace. May those responsible for their loved one's death be held responsible. In the midst of this tragedy, may the faithful testimony of Kande and Bindu serve as a light to others in their village, so that many will see the truth of the Gospel and, as a result, receive God's eternal salvation through Jesus Christ  (John 14:6).

TURKEY: Foreign Christian Workers Expelled

Last year, at least thirty-five foreign Christian workers were expelled from Turkey, as their permits had been either revoked or denied renewal. So far this year, the number of those forced to leave the country has already reached sixteen. The latest of those workers are Joy Subasigüller and Pastor Zach Balon, both from the United States.
On June 5th, Joy was told that her residency permit had been revoked, even though she has resided in Turkey for nearly ten years and is married a Turkish pastor named Lütfü. The couple, who have three young children (all Turkish citizens), have appealed but such appeals are regularly denied.
Pastor Zach Balon is pastor of the New Hope Church in Istanbul. He was about to fly on a trip with his family on June 24th when he was told that he wouldn't be allowed to return to Turkey once he left. He immediately cancelled the flight and filed an appeal.
In these cases, and so many others, the notified Christians all had the necessary legal documentation and visas, yet they were subjected to deportation due to the country's crackdown on Christianity and government efforts to strengthen President Erdogan's support among conservative Islamic elements. More information on the persecution of Christians in Turkey, including previously posted reports, can be reviewed here.
Pray that the appeals presented to the courts on behalf of the believers requesting to remain in the country will be successful. May the Turkish authorities diminish their campaign against foreign Christian workers. Ask God to continue blessing the past, present and future outreaches of the church throughout Turkey, so that many more names will be added to the Lamb's "Book of Life" (Revelation 13:8; 20:15).

DAILY PRAYER

Lord we Thank and Praise you for all you do each day to guide, protect, provide, and answer every petition as they make their needs, wants, and the desires of their hearts known to you.

Lord please bless, keep, guide, and provide each person this message reaches. Throughout each day, bless them with perfect health, healing, and the abundant supply to fulfill all they need, want or desire.  Keep each of them safe and secure, no matter the weather, temperatures, or other circumstances that should try to cause their body, mind or our spirits to be tried and tested! Guide each of them as they pray, ask, and require. (2 Corinthians 5:18-21; Ephesians 6:10-20 ; Luke 1:1-4; Luke 18:1-8 ; Colossians 1:9-23; Romans 8:26-30

Dear Lord in sharing the words of prayers and words of wisdom from history, I hope to encourage all my readers of these messages, to show that we are not experiencing anything that others have not, and to show that you always provide. Let the readers also reflect on the time and circumstances of these prayers and words of wisdom, so they may draw strength and insight from them.

God knows us through and through. Not the most secret thought, which we most hide from ourselves, is hidden from him. As then we come to know ourselves through and through, we come to see ourselves more as God sees us, and then we catch some little glimpse of his designs with us, how each ordering of his providence, each check to our desires, each failure of our hopes, is just fitted for us, and for something in our own spiritual state, which others know not of, and which, till then, we knew not. Until we come to this knowledge, we must take all in faith, believing, though we know not, the goodness of God toward us.

Edward Bouberie Pusey (1800–1882)

Have a wonderfully blessed and prosperous day in the Lord today!

Dear Lord, bless us with the strength and words to be there for those we love.

"The world today is full of troubled and hurting

NIGERIA: Reports of "Unfolding Genocide"
Sources: Forbes, Christian Post
Keith China Nanjing - Page 5 Mail?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.vomcanada.com%2Fimages%2Fcountries%2Fnigeria%2Fng-mass-funeral-sm
For several years, suffering has been a way of life for Christians in Nigeria. In 2010, the International Criminal Court (ICC) opened a preliminary examination into this troubling situation which was formerly caused by the violence of Boko Haram militants. Thousands of lives have been lost throughout the years that followed, along with the destruction of numerous homes and churches, and the abduction of hundreds of innocent victims --including teen Leah Sharibu who was taken captive in February 2018 and is still missing to date.
As horrific as the crimes perpetrated by Boko Haram have been, this terrorist group has been eclipsed in recent years by Fulani militia groups. While the exact death toll is unknown, Christian leaders claim that over 6,000 believers have been maimed or killed -- many of them vulnerable children, women and the aged. Open Doors refers to the attacks as a "religious cleansing"; in other words, an attempt to eradicate Christianity from the region. Others refer to it as genocide.
On June 15th, the United Kingdom's All-Party Parliamentary Group for International Freedom of Religion or Belief released a report titled, Nigeria: Unfolding Genocide? The document outlines the fact that thousands of innocent lives have been lost and multiple homes destroyed, concerns that have prompted the organization to call on the involvement of the international community. This call includes providing humanitarian assistance for those who are suffering, a response from the international community, and proactive action taken by the Nigerian government. To view the report, click here. British representatives have also taken their concerns to the ICC earlier this year, asking for further investigation.
The response of the Nigerian government to allegations referencing its passivity over the horrendous atrocities committed by the country's militants has been dismissive. President Muhammadu Buhari's spokesperson refers to a "misleading campaign" with "false allegations of persecution of Christians." Such an apathetic response leads to another concern, questioning potential bias on the part of the president, the son of a Fulani chief. For more information on the persecution of Christians in Nigeria, go to our country report.
Intercede for Nigeria's Christians who are facing these ongoing campaigns of violence from various opposing sources. Pray that the government will act responsibly on behalf of these innocent victims by making efforts to halt the alarming number of casualties, rampages of destruction, and the resulting grief and suffering. May action from the international community serve as an impetus to bring about positive change and, therefore, a brighter future for all Nigerians.

Suspected Fulani militants killed twenty-seven people in three predominantly Christian villages of Central Mali. The village of Tillé was raided on May 26th, resulting in the deaths of seven, some of them burned alive. Over the next 24 hours, the attackers moved on to the villages of Bankass and Koro, killing another twenty villagers.
In 2012, al-Qaeda affiliates seized control of the northern two-thirds of Mali. They were driven back by French forces but have since regrouped, expanding into neighbouring Burkina Faso and Niger. The stated aim is to establish an Islamic state which clearly involves the attacks of any groups or individuals not compliant with their agenda, causing valid concerns for Christians.
Remember the survivors remaining in these villages, including the families and friends of those who have been tragically slain. As they now contend with the resulting trauma -- along with the fear and uncertainty of potential further risk -- pray that God's peace, comfort, healing and protection will be tangible realities in their lives. May steps be taken by governing officials to ensure their safety and bring those responsible to justice in hopes that the perpetrators will experience genuine heartfelt repentance and transformation.

SUDAN: Christians Attacked After Incitement from Mosque Leaders

Several South Sudanese Christians were attacked in Khartoum after mosque leaders called on their followers to rid their "Muslim area" of Christians. After evening prayers on June 6th, when imams raised the call, the mob attacks ensued. In one incident at a local market the following day, a group of Christians were targeted with batons and rifles. Many were severely injured, including 18-year-old Ariere Sathor. In addition, 16 temporary plastic shelters, where the South Sudanese refugees had been staying, were burned down.
According to one local source, these Christians have been harassed for a long time. Yet their attackers were emboldened to attack after claims were made by the imams that those practising Christianity were infidels, criminals and brewers of alcohol.
On June 20th, a separate attack took place in Omdurman, a populace city located on the west banks of the Nile River, across from the capital of Khartoum. During this incident, a Christian father of four by the name of Mariel Bang was stabbed to death and several other believers were injured. It was reported that the throng of young men responsible for this most recent outbreak of violence kept shouting "Allah Akbar" during their attack. More information on the difficulties facing Christians in Sudan is available here.
Please prayerfully lift up the many who've been injured, asking God to minister His healing upon them both physically and emotionally. Also uphold Mariel's family who are grieving their sudden loss. May the Lord prove Himself mighty on their behalf by providing for their spiritual and practical needs "according to His riches in glory" (Philippians 4:19). In addition, pray that His provision and protection will be extended to encompass the above mentioned refugees so each family represented may have a safe place to call home.

Please continue to lift up our church, churches throughout our nation, and the people of China.  Let's start by praying for two of the minority people groups of China; please consider adopting one of these peoples; they are in desperate need of prayer.

Achang

https://joshuaproject.net/people_groups/10146/CH

Achang, Husa

https://joshuaproject.net/people_groups/18384/CH

Although we are still having virtual church,  we are grateful to God for His faithfulness.  We do have study at 5.30am every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday; also, we have also started up one of the house groups and are able to meet for Communion once a month along with food and fellowship.

Continue to lift up our Pastor and co-workers as they seek to serve the church

Please pray for the many men in the church that they would be totally surrendered to Christ and committed to the gospel.

Pray for brothers M and L, to take a more active role

Brother W and his new wife to be committed to the church

The following men to be saved, F and H.

S is a brother who is still in serious sexual sin, please pray he would be saved and set free.

Please pray for our children and young people, that they would come to the faith

Continue to pray that more and more people would come to church and that many would come to faith

Please pray for a deep move of the Holy Spirit throughout the church, and that all sin would be dealt with.

Thank you for your prayers!

Please continue to pray and please share this with friends and social media

[size=16]Beidalao people

Population: 25,000

Christians: very few

These people live in an isolated part of Guangxi province and have no resources available to them, they are strong Animists and also worship their ancestors.

This is hard ground, before it can be even sown, the ground has to be watered with the prayers of the saints, are you prepared to shed a tear for this people?

Please pray that someone would be called to go to them, how can they hear without a preacher. Romans chapter 10. Please pray that God would call someone to Go.

(2 Corinthians 5:18-21; Ephesians 6:10-20 ; Luke 1:1-4; Luke 18:1-8 ; Colossians 1:9-23; Romans 8:26-30)

Not the most secret thought, which we most hide from ourselves, is hidden from him..

TODAYS DEVOTIONS

(It is not my intent to be a salesperson, just send uplifting and encouraging devotions, so all links I remove, but items that are in bold print, usually were linked, the attached PDF still has hot links or you can follow the link at the bottom to the devotion online)

I remember walking out of the state-of-the-art fertility clinic with my husband. We had come to seek a second opinion from a highly regarded infertility specialist after four years of testing, treatments, and heartache.
Our appointment with the doctor had not gone well. He was arrogant, overlooked our questions, and seemed flippant about our journey as he outlined his proposed course of treatment. We left his office feeling uneasy and confused about what our next steps should be.
As we stepped into the sunshine and walked to our car, I heard the Holy Spirit whisper, “This is not what I have for you.” My husband felt the exact same pull on his heart.
At the time, we thought perhaps the Lord did not like this particular doctor or his chosen methods for helping us, but as the days went by, we both had a stronger sense that God was actually calling us away from infertility treatments as a whole.
The more I prayed about it, the more I sensed God was asking us to lay our efforts aside. It was time to put away the medication, stop the doctor appointments, cease striving and join Him on the long, hard road of childlessness.
At first, every fiber in my being resisted. I begged God to give us something else to pursue — a different doctor, adoption, natural remedies for healing my body. Over and over, I heard God say, “That is not what I have for you. Come join me on this road through the wilderness.”
To many people, I’m sure it looked like we had just given up and thrown in the towel on our plans to start a family. The truth is, we were (and still are) obediently following God on this hard road that He has called us to. It may not make sense to the world around us, and it occasionally does not make sense to me either, but I know we are doing what He has asked of us and Jesus has sustained us every step of the way.
God often calls us to difficult things. In Matthew 7:14, Jesus said, “For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” Did you notice where the hard way leads? It leads to life.
Our difficult calling has a destination. God does not ask us to wander the wilderness aimlessly. Our roads are going somewhere glorious — into the heart of God Himself.
The Greek word used for life is zōē, and it holds a sense of vitality, fullness, animation, and devotion to God. It is the absolute fullness of life with God. This is the same word that Jesus uses in John 10:10 when He speaks about the abundant life. These hard roads are highly profitable if we are willing to stay on them.
Jesus was no stranger to walking difficult roads — His entire ministry was fraught with hardship, and the final days of His life were especially lonely and painful.
From the Garden of Gethsemane to standing trial, being beaten and tortured, and then dying on a cross, Jesus stayed true to the call God had given Him. Jesus had plenty of opportunities to step off His hard road. He could have summoned legions of angels. He could have taken Himself down off the cross. He could have avoided the whole ordeal altogether, but He chose to remain “obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross” (Philippians 2:8).
So how exactly do we stay on our hard roads? What kept Jesus on the course that the Father had called him to? 1 Peter 2:23 gives us the answer to that question, “When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly.”
Jesus continually entrusted Himself to God. Over and over, He trusted in the love of his Father and in the eternally redemptive outcome of His plan, and we are invited to do the same.
God desires that we might entrust ourselves daily to Him. We do this simply by walking with Him in prayer, reading His Word, and trusting in His good and loving heart. We can stay the course by following Christ’s example.
Friends, I don’t know what hard road God has called you to right now. Maybe it’s singleness or enduring an invisible illness, maybe it’s working in a job you dislike or living with family members who test your patience every day.
Hard roads are hard. The easy way out is tempting, but if God has called you to walk on a difficult path, He will sustain you on it. So fix your eyes on Jesus, entrust yourself to God, and keep putting one foot in front of another as you journey toward the life in God that awaits you.

JOB 1

And fell down upon the ground before God. 21 “I came naked from my mother’s womb,” he said, “and I shall have nothing when I die. The Lord gave me everything I had, and they were his to take away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.”
22 In all of this Job did not sin or revile God.

KEEPING YOUR MOUTH FROM SIN

Job was a very rich man, he had much cattle, sheep and was also blessed with many sons and daughters. Now to lose one of any of these, who be terrible, but to lose everything, must of been absolutely awful. One by one his servants came, each one telling a worse story than the last one. It must of been like, one servant finishes telling him that he has lost his sheep and then whilst he is just about to finish, here comes another one , look at verses 16-18.

He was not just having a bad day, he was having the ultimate bad day. He had suddenly lost everything. But and here is the beautiful thing about Job, he did not blame God or sin with his mouth.

Why is this? Well if we look back to the earliest verses of Chapter 1, we find out the reason.
The first thing, we find out about Job is that he was a good man who feared God and kept away from evil. Even the devil when we brought his sick accusation, recognised that Job feared God.

Secondly, his concern for his family, when they had a party, Job prayed for them, this was Job's regular practice verses 5. He was a praying father to his children.

Finally, he had a realisation, that everything he owned had come from God, he was just the steward and that God was the real owner of all he owned. It was easy for him to let go, of all these things, because he realised who the real owner was.

What an example Job is.. Hope you will follow

God bless you

ACTS 5
40 And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.
41 And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.
42 And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.
HOW TO HANDLE A BEATING
The disciples had appeared before the council of the Jews, and had defended themselves and the reasons for them preaching the gospel, this time, they had found an unlikely ally in Gamaliel, who was the teacher of Saul, later the apostle Paul.
The council had wanted to kill them, but they took this man's advice and they had suffered a beating.
The reaction to the beating are significant and we have to do the same. Firstly they were rejoicing, all through the book of Acts, we see a rejoicing church. Every church and every individual you see in the book of Acts is rejoicing, despite intense and horrible persecution.
Secondly, they rejoiced because they were counted worthy to suffer shame for the name of the Lord. Here they were being beaten for their faith, just like their Saviour. You know believer, what we go through is the same thing that happened to the Saviour John 15:18-20

Thirdly in verse 40, they were told not to speak anything about Jesus, but who did they obey? We can be threatened and told not to share Christ, but who are we are to obey? The NT believers fully knew the risks of sharing the gospel, but they didn't hesitate, they had already said that these things in Chapter 4:19-20.
Remember that the authorities, can threaten and beat you, but your attitude must be one of rejoicing, and to recognise that we are counted worthy to share his sufferings and then continue to share the gospel in all it's power.

God bless you

ALU

POPULATION: 7,050

CHRISTIANS: NONE KNOWN

These people are bound to many different types of spirits. Chickens are sacrificed in every village to keep the spirits  quiet. Please pray that these practices would be bound as the gospel takes root.

Chinese evangelists visited the Alu but they were not interested; please pray that something that was said would stick with some of the people.

Please pray for a move of God amongst them.

This people believe in the deity Ah-Luo, and have a strong belief in polytheism.
